bored ? the boy's expression seems to collapse with shock in an instant . it's a thought he's never considered before ; not even once . could something that loved you --- that you loved ; fed and steadily cared for and dearly admired , still get bored of you ? if it were a human being , he couldn't have imagined anyone have ever getting bored of akira . their personality was steady and amicable , they were generous even to others as frantic as the niwa himself , and they marveled over still cat miniatures with no less respect of affection than they might have a legitimate animal ... so wasn't it that akira hardly had any flaw at all ?

daisuke frets , at first . he thinks that it might do to tell the other that a cat , a real one , might have not needed so much space anyways ; one with the right personality wouldn't have wanted to separate and so all the world would have been right within akira's lap . but the point feels moot already --- and there was no need for the niwa to convince the other of something that should have been their own decision to make with confidence , anyways . just one murmur leaves him at first : ' ... i don't think it's selfish , though . to want to love something and to worry over it properly , that's the opposite of selfishness , right ? '

and with pets , who were so often helpless and as dependent as they could be demanding , it was only when their owners ceased to love and grew bored with the idea of dedication that suffering or cruelty , true selfishness crept in . the thought's interrupted by the other's question --- daisuke awkwardly bursts into a laugh . ' uh , well --- i ... i sort of have one , ' or maybe a dozen if you counted the developing zoo in his mansion , ' his name is wiz ! he's sort of ... er , ' mostly , kind of , pretty much ... ? ' a rabbit ? '

a better word for familiar . best not to bring up how said creature could fly by flapping its ears , or transform into all sorts of things like dark's wings or its very own owners and masters themselves , another ancient masterpiece brought to life by some bizarre magic . and yet , daisuke's still a little flattered ; he's sure were his regular companion about , then wiz wouldn't have hesitated to affirm and happily hop about in agreement without the slightest concern .

' i don't have a lot of experience with cats , and dogs can be a little ... scary sometimes . ' the same went for the exotic like the hungry alligators and crocodiles his mother kept in a moat he was meant to train with . ' ah , um , but ... a-akira-san , if having your own is no good , what about visiting a cat cafe ? animals are really smart , you know --- if you visited often , i'm sure even the cats there would get to know you really well ! and you could talk with or pet them all you wanted ... ! i can go with you ! although , um , to tell you the truth --- ' cheeks redden as he slowly starts to settle .

' i haven't ... i've never really gone to one of them before . '

Did he hate it that much? Or was he a kid who couldn't accept a gift? Although, thinking about it, offering to pay for something and then having that offer thrown back at you...they would likely find themself in a troublesome position as well. At least, until he speaks again.

It was surely a joke, a serious sentiment born out of the desire to return the conversation to the original offer and a relief that Akira wouldn't accept an entire set—it can't really be helped. So why did he seem so sincere about it? Daisuke could lie, he was a teen, a kid, a human, lying about something like this wouldn't be a bother either. An attempt to look older, an attempt to look responsible. But Daisuke is awfully, awfully flustered.

It makes them curious, and starts a slight worry at the back of their mind that they're treating him wrong (it wouldn't be the first time), but asking feels awkward in this place where they don't have an excuse. He's sweet regardless, so perhaps it doesn't matter whether they know or not at this moment. But...the time to ask doesn't come, replaced by the question that always comes up, one way or another.

Akira's not sure they're grateful about the change in topic or not.

"I have", they respond truthfully, and although the smile returns, it's more solemn than before. "It's just...I don't have time, nor space. And I don't want to selfishly buy a cat only for it to be bored", the money wasn't the problem, it was everything else. Their hand reaches for the tiny black kitty in front of them, carefully, as if treating a dear friend. "I did cat-sit for a friend once, though", technically, if you stretched the scenario a bit. "It looked something like this, small and cute with a green cape. At first it was very difficult to care for it, but...I had a lot of fun too", the object now turned toward him, alongside a question. "Have you ever wanted a pet? I feel you'd become best friends at first sight", this time, the smile looks like a proper one.

"Ah, Chrom..." they had been staring. Fiddling with their book and changing their weight to one foot and back again, repeating the process for an uncomfortable amount of time. They wanted to say something. Should say something. But what do you say to someone who lost someone dear to them so suddenly? So violently? If only they were better at speaking, if only they were someone who's words weighed heavy, if only... But Akira's none of that. And so the grip on the book tightens and the pain in their chest grows stronger. It wasn't supposed to be like this. "If you need something..." they start, slowly to not choke up again. They'd cry alongside Riquet and Nero instead, not in front of the man who so kindly took them in. "I'll do anything. So...even though it's out of line for me to ask, please lean on me."

This was NOT supposed to happen. He knows that his sister walked on a dangerous path there were people who didn't like what she was calling for. Peace for everyone? They scoffed at her dreams. He saw how people treated her at first but she proved that she can follow her words ... why... . . . why can't they trust her till the end? why can't they let her make it happen? Why must they ... kill her?

She didn't deserve that end ...

All she wanted was their peace ...

Why . . . ? . . . . why . . . . ?

Why did she leave them so early? Ylisse still needs her! Lissa still needs her! H-he .... he still needs her. A life without her is unimaginable! She was the mother and father and the big sister to him; she was everything. To be robbed of life that easily is unbearable.

Even though he steeled his heart when they managed to come back to the castle after the Exalt's demise, Chrom was still fighting to grasp what had happened. Gangrel's plan worked even though they tried to stop him, Emmeryn .... Emmeryn died, the Ylisseans are in shock, and his army is still in disbelief ... Lissa .... Lissa is still crying.

What should he do? . . . Someone please wake him up from this nightmare. Please!!

Chrom had been zoning off, spacing into the far distance when Akira came to find him. He didn't have the heart to stay in the castle after what happened so he remained in The Shepherds HQ. There is .... There is no way he would come back home without seeing, even a fraction of her dream true. He will be damned if he will let her sacrifice go to waste. She didn't choose that end for him to be a coward and not do anything. Still . . .he is still hurt. This wound would never seem to heal even as time goes by.

The prince snapped out of his train of thought when he felt someone's presence around him. " . . . ? . . . Aki...ra?" Frederick had requested that Chrom would use this preparation time to rest for a bit. Anyone with good eyesight would see how tired and ...lifeless his eyes had become. Even his usual lighthearted smile had gone. There's nothing he could do about it when there is nothing but hatred brewing in his heart. He knows this is not what his sister wished for but ... WHAT ELSE IS HE SUPPOSED TO FEEL WHEN HIS FAMILY WAS KILLED RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM? HE IS A HUMAN, TOO DAMN IT! He ... He can't be ... He can't be like her .... He's not good at controlling his emotions like her ....sobs ... damn it ... damn it!

He .. misses her.

And he is tired . . .

Usually, he would ask if something is wrong but today he has no ... well, how to say it ... he is not ... conscious of the world around him.

To be honest, Akira's hesitation somewhat irritated him. What does he want? If he has something to say just say it already! A frown knitted his eyebrows but thankfully, he managed to quel his, unreasonable, anger and wait for the other to speak up.

Damn it ...! he is getting angry for petty reasons, too? ... Perhaps he is not fit for her ideals if he can't get himself together now? How ...stupid. Stupid ... Stupid!

Pressing a hand against his face, he took a deep breath and then looked back at the young man. An eyebrow raised at what Akira had said initially, "some ...thing?" if he need something? How about someone tells him this is all but a bad dream and he will wake up soon? ....as if. He can't be cruel to the guy who came to ... cheer him up. Akira is a good guy. He knows that it's just... the timing could not be more unfavorable for him.

Calm down ... He's trying his best, too. Can't you see his willed-up eyes? Ah..right. Everyone has ...lost her, too, right? He remembers Akira mentioning that Riquet only came back because of Emmeryn so did Akira and Nero with him. They are ... mourning, too. Everyone lost Emmeryn.. not just him.

Heh... she was everyone's big sister, wasn't she? How much he hated sharing her but you can't contain a light like that to yourself, can you? She was ... she....damn it.....damn it.....

"I'll do anything. So...even though it's out of line for me to ask, please lean on me."

To these words, Chrom was stunned for a moment. His face was paralyzed with confusion and shock before he lowers it to grit his teeth in the hope he stops his quivering lips.

He's an idiot, isn't he?

Ylisse might regret having him as the next in line of succession but damn it... He will not give up! for people like Akira in his life!! How else is he supposed to repay them back for standing with him all this way?

"Aaah!!! Damn it!!!" his hands run down his face to wipe away the tears and tiredness out of his face. He took another deep breath before looking back at Akira. Hopefully, he has not scared him away with that mood swing haha ....ahem.

There is it ... the smile he missed for a while now. "Thank you ..." his voice though cracked a little bit. Oh, come on! It is not time to cry! "A-ahem, um .. Thank.. you. Thank you, Akira. I ... I don't know what I want now but ... I'll come to you if I needed it ... promise." there was a single teardrop escaping his right eye and before the dam lets loose he turns around. "I better .. check on everyone's preparations..."

"Akira... can you check on Riquet for me? I hope he's...doing well."

uuuuuu, thank you so much!!! Theo is an absolutely sweetheart, I wanted to make him cute and sweet to balance the other northern wizards who are usually impulsive, brash, or cryptic, so he’s usually charming and cute but still has those northern qualities in him somewhere :sparkles:

OH GOD. I. UH. I DID NOT EXPECT ANYONE TO ACTUALLY ASK I CANT ACTUALLY RAMBLE ABOUT ANYTHING I LIKE FOR EVEN A MINUTE ESPECIALLY WHEN ASKED OUT OF THE BLUE YEVDIVDJFBFK

i'm just gonna. spill every thought i have about dragalia the second it pops into my head for as long as i am able bc i really do love talking about this game and i WILL shove it in people's faces

so. dragalia lost. uh. i'm already clueless about what to say

for the 99.9% of people who didnt follow me for dl, its a mobile gacha game. you play as euden, a scion to the alberian throne, who possesses dragonblood, a special power inherited that allows him to make pacts with dragons and shapeshift into them. for a free gacha game its really, really good?? good rates, lots of free stuff, SO MUCH INGAME CONTENT, FLAWLESS soundtrack, ten bajillion characters, and dragons as the title implies and that automatically makes the game a thousand times better.

when i say good rates i mean GOOD like. every gala dragalia banner i swear i get like 2-3 five stars every second tenfold. and the safety net of you being able to pick a certain five star after 300 rolls... aauaghh this is why i love dragalia way more than idk ge/nshin which is so awfully frustrating by comparison or pok/emon masters which i quit after like two months. i have almost every character i want and got them pretty easily! (despite these good rates i still dont have summer norwin COME HOME YOU--)

there's so much lore and stories to look at when you're not playing! all the events are so so good, my favorites are forgetten truths, accursed archives and caged desire! (caged desire was the per/sona 5 crossover event which i am. still reeling from. out of all the crossovers to happen with this little obscure gacha game it was P5?? AND SO WELL WRITTEN?? AND NOW I CAN PLAY AS THE JOKER REN AMAMIYA AKIRA KURUSU LIKE HE IS IN MY PARTY STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO ALBERIUS CLEO AND IEYASU RIGHT NOW AS WE SPEAK--) every character comes with their own 20 minuteish story which i love and then theres also so much wyrmprint/weapon flavor text to read which i love even MORE, i cannot EMPHASIZE HOW MUCH I LOVE FLAVOR TEXT!! the wyrmprint art is also top quality,, off the top of my head prints like valiant crown and the high dragon res set are GORGEOUS. they stopped doing it recently iirc but a few early wyrmprints and stuff would hint at other things? like dueling dancers featured orsem before orsem was even released, there was a mention of the syndicate in another print but they weren't put into a playable story until the scars of the syndicate event in the game's second year. it was so neat how they used to do that can they do that again please.... with a blade print maybe oh my god release a wyrmprint for blades already you already gave STAVES a SKILL DAMAGE PRINT the weapon for HEALERS who DONT DEAL SKILL DAMAGE WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT

i so adore the dragalia life comic strip waaaaaa look at it its so cute,, a couple issues actually made me laugh out loud. my favorite is uhhhh,,, i'm too lazy to look up the number rn but its one with lathna and curran and he keeps tripping over his words as usual its adorable

the SOUNDTRACK,,,, i'm actually listening to force your way rn but when i started typing this i put on we are the lights and then it played because of you and oh force your way just ended and now its notte's slumber shot theme ekdvdjfhjf. its got a huge variety of songs, even if you havent or wont play dragalia at least listen to some of the songs included with it, i linked them for a reason go go go!! we are the lights is my personal favorite, its so satisfying to be able to fight [ SPOILERS ] to this song and you land the final hit at the very climax of the song WAAAA ITS MY FAVORITE FIGHT IN THE WHOLE GAME

as a gacha game ofc it has a huge cast of characters, and while most of them have literally NO relevance to the main plot they're all still so fun and unique and aaaa i love so many of them... as the current icon and one of my previous urls will imply my favorite is orsem! honestly though the range of characters is so funny sometimes like you have the main character, a prince who has inherited the dragonblood which allows him to shapeshift into dragons he's made pacts with, and there's apostles from the north linked to angels who set out to resolve problems concerning demons, three characters linked to unspeakable eldritch horrors, there's all sorts of determined fighters and ex-royalty and very serious characters with tragic backstories and then there's also like. a pirate who can be an opera singer. an opera singer who can be a phantom thief. two clowns. some dancers. a dnd player. gay cowboy. the same gay cowboy but they gave him a gun. the mystical ascended warrior dons a swimsuit and goes surfing with cats on his board. its a fantasy game but there are androids???

i ADORE the character design in this game i will never shut up about how much i love so many of these... three of my favorites: fritz, heinwald and alex

i think fritz is my actual favorite design i mean just look,,,, i normally don't reeeeally like the whole circus/fairgrounds kind of look but like he and annelie? hits a perfect balance. flawless. i automatically adore big wizard cloaks so heinwald was an easy pick. alex is? i dont really know what to pinpoint on her outfit that i likei just like it. the flowy thing on the back is very neat. other honorable mentions are mascula, laxi, mordecai, vixel, sylas, ieyasu and norwin. i want sylas's coat so bad can i commission someone to make it for me or something

on the story side of things though,, i'd say my favorite character stories were sylas and ramiel's. chapter 11 (android anguish), sylas and valerio's stories were the only ones to make me cry,,, ramiel's came close. they were so. aaaauuuugghh i have not stopped thinking about these stories since i read them. i wont say anything more because of spoilers but they're all so...

I ALMOST FORGOT TO SHOW OFF THE DRAGONS IN DRAGALIA LOST I'M A FOOL. here's midgardsormr he's cool as hell. i also want to mention mercury, prometheus and epimetheus but i hit the image limit. sad

i think the last thing i have to say here is uh. i adore euden as a protag. he may not be my no. 1 favorite character in the game but i'm gonna give him his own paragraph because he deserves it. i ofc cant say too much because of spoilers but the fact that this guy goes through SO MUCH but is still so, so, SO supportive and kind and determined to help others,,, but not overly perfect all the time? i saw him as too much of a generic Nice(tm) protag at first but actually he's so good?? he goes from the benevolent and powerful King of New Alberia, Defender of the People, The One Destined To Bring Peace To Graestea Once More to "Oh yeah. Totes. (People say totes, right?)" <- direct quote (or at least how i remember it). he's silly. i love euden

tl;dr: dragalia lost good. play it. please.

' if you look so innocent all the time... i can't tell if you're going to end up attracting people who'll want to protect you, or evil spirits. ' ones like me, yan qing thinks.

Hadn't they just been showing Yan Qing the flowers blooming in the flowerbed, a group of the neighborhood elders had worked really hard on those, surely something like that didn't warrant violence?! Frankly? Akira has no idea what he's talking about.

Akira was just normal, everyday Akira. They woke up, went to work, admired cats, read a book, and went to sleep. There wasn't much to be protected over even if they met people who'd want to do that. Well, meeting people who were a bit too insistent was still a struggle, but even that they could handle by themself. As for evil spirits…
