Aaaaahh not sure if this is my best work 😭 I just really wanted to draw smth for vettonso day but my brain hasn't really been functioning well LOL so I kept dreading working on this, especially bcs its so important to me, y'know? I hope it's good????? I'm happy with the concept, but I was just so unsure on so many of the angles and it was killing me. I did the color thing bcs I thought it'd add something interesting to it :) since I didn't paint it as I usually would

Anyways! Process!

Now I will explain all of them:

Boy king au is where it all starts of course. I think their relationship is the most developed in this compared to the others, but at the same point, they just start from such a different point, especially affection-wise. All of these kinda have a power dynamic, except the last one, and this is the most imbalanced. Fernando is being subservient, the only part of Seb he may kiss(in public lol) is his hand.

Matador au next. They hurt themselves when they try to be affectionate, because they live in the culture of a sport of violence and death. The sword separates them, their love for the sport keeps them apart, in fear that they hurt each other. Seb, yet again, looks down upon Fernando. Seb haunts Fernando's whole career, the constant overhanging presence. Also aside from that, shame that you can't see his three musketeers look bcs of the black background 😔

2012 core!!! I think this one is pretty easy to understand. Both of them often kiss their trophies, more so than any driver. So they're both trying to claim the wdc trophy by kissing it. Maybe you guys should just get rid of the trophy altogether and claim each other! But yes, just like the sword in the matador au one, the trophy and their ambitions divides, keeps them from ever bridging the vast gap between them, at least at that point in time.

The conclusion! Aka what I wish we will get at Imola 2024- kidding kidding. But it is 2024. Finally there is no conflict between them, there's no big thing keeping them in conflict, they can finally come together. Finally they can touch, there is no gap to bridge, they can appreciate each other, and appreciate what they failed to in years past.

The thesis is basically that they always have their aspirations between them, and their aspirations happen to be basically the same thing. Until those are resolved, the gap between them is too vast for them to recognize and/or find any commonality. How do you get along with someone when you're both fighting for the same thing? How do you get along when it feels like one of you is winning more? How do you get along when there's such a vast gap?

In boy king au, it's going to take a while before they both feel settled about the issue of the throne. That's what makes that au interesting, they're trapped in this state of non-closure and they have to actually solve their issues without the matter of one of them simply removing themselves from the equation. They have to find a way to get over themselves and their aspirations, because like it or not they're stuck with each other. I think with the hand kissing, it represents how Fernando, at that point, is only willing to play along with the game if it's tradition, and he often won't budge in other ways. Yes, I will show subservience, but only in this detached, formal way that I don't connect personally to. He's still holding his own bitterness over meaningfully appreciating Seb. Though it's not like Seb isn't at fault. It takes a while for him to not hold things over Fernando, and constantly humiliate him. One day they will meaningfully show affection, and it won't be some sort of power play.

I think matador au is pretty similar to real life, and the 2010s era(it's basically just their actual plot line but in the context of bullfighting.) They're forever going to have this big elephant in the room, and it only really gets resolved when one of them leaves the sport. Once they're not fighting directly against each other, they realize what they've been missing out on and what they were not appreciating for so many years beforehand. They finally come together because they can't just rely anymore on the sport keeping them together. They actually have to make that step to be in each other's lives, rather than just taking their presence for granted.

Also the text on the comic. "We keep missing, and missing, and missing, and finally kissing." It's basically: we keep missing the point of it all, we keep failing to appreciate each other presence in our lives and in our own individual grand stories. But when we're not forced together anymore, we have to make the choice to come together again ourselves. We keep missing what we actually need to do. Missing each other in favor of our aspirations. Etc etc. One day we will finally embrace and there will be nothing keeping us apart.

MY GUY!!! ok ok Auï has had such an up and down relationship with his body.....from the biggest ego ever to so much crushing body dysmorphia, the answer to this question is not an easy yes or no. Auï understands, on some level, his appearance is likeable, and has qualities to be liked, but he feels so disconnected and uncomfortable in his skin that he used to literally shower fully clothed.

but he's getting better over time, and he's doing all sorts of little things to make himself feel more at home in his frame again- growing his hair out, for one! that was always something he had control over. he also is taking more time for his fashion, instead of simple greyscale clothing, he loves experimenting with alt fashion like his gothic outfits when he goes out and his silly graphic print shirts at home. his fashion has become a huge outlet for him.

Depends on who are you are, i think! He gets along best right off the bat with people who share his humor, he can't help to rib at people when doing transactions, and a lot of folks find that offputting. he's just sorta an old dad. he's friendly, but teasing. so if people are as chatty and extroverted as him, they may have him likeable off the get go, but i know my scared fearful prey-animal self would be so unsure what to say to him

Machwell really prefers doing everything himself. he hates asking for help...which sucks because he really does need a lot of help in a lot of aspects of his life. his main "problem solving" tactic is "lay down and don't move for days on end" but he's FINE he's handling EVERYTHING and he doesn't Want anyone getting in his space anymore; he doesn't like feeling incapable, it makes him scared. so. regardless. bartenn will help him anyway. he's careful to make sure machwell doesn't feel coddled, but just enough to keep him from rotting to death on his couch. bartenn is actually one of the first people machwell met when he moved to their town, when machwell was in need of some SERIOUS help, and he's been quietly helping quill ever since. and machwell is helping him too!

Machwell is a moderately picky eater, he has a couple of set meals that he really likes (usually with highly acidic, bitter ingredients) and he likes a lot of "controversial" food like bleu cheese, eggplant, and beef liver,,,so he's not really a classic picky eater, he's just more of a guy who often forgets to eat and then gets crazy cravings for a whole jar of black olives at 4am. (and he eats a lot and i mean a LOT of pineapple....canned pineapple is his favorite. he loves how it makes his mouth hurt.) he is lactose intolerant tho. this is not a relevant fact but its something that i know

A little known fact about Machwell is that he was going to be a realtor before his life went extremely downhill. he was in trade school for it and everything- he dropped out because his ex-girlfriend-then-ex-wife thought it was taking up too much of his attention and time. but yeah Machwell will just randomly know a lot about housing markets work. and he gave his youngest son his crazy good math brain to wrap around all the transactions.

now. i know what you're thinking. "Quail, Machwell does not seem to have a single skill that is useful for being a realtor" (good communication, people skills, personable, friendly, emotional intelligence, etc etc) i know.....i never said he was a GOOD realtor! just noting he was a lot of unexpected knowledge in that area :D

Aaaahh these thoughts usually just creep up on me lolol but I’ll try to remember them!!

One I always think of though, that I’ve already mentioned, is baby Tomioka being a hair puller lolol. Always pulling our hair and never realizing bc he’s just trying to cling on lol. Only sometimes does he do it out of entertainment. So sometimes I’ll headcannon that that’s the reason Giyuu cuts his hair so it could encourage his baby to pull on hair less lol

He also like to chew on things, teething or not teething. He’s just a chewer lolol. Since I also mentioned already with the whole “he loves to steal Giyuu’s kirimi keychain and chew on it” kekeke. He’ll chew on his straw and then whine that he can’t drink out of it anymore bc he chewed the straw shut lolol

And he of course had the good baby smell!! He smelled so cute and sweet, Giyuu had caught me huffing his head multiple times. (And often times he joined me too lmao)

I also kind of wanna say he’s more of a papa’s boy!! 😖 not cuz it’s “father and first born son” but just because they get along so, so well. So this one time, Giyuu was holding him and he just kept crying and Giyuu didn’t know why. He tried everything and nothing worked and when I held him, he finally stopped crying. He just wanted his mama and we were both surprised bc of just how much more attached he is to Giyuu lolol. (Of course he loves me too! He was more attached to me the much younger he was since a baby usually often depends more on their mother lol)

One I think about often is Giyuu walking in on me singing our baby a lullaby 😖😖💗 there are a few songs I always have in mind that I think would be great as a lullaby. And I’d just wanna sing them to my fictional baby lol. But Giyuu knows I’ll stop if I see or hear him so he’s just admiring from the doorframe until I sense his presence and get embarrassed that he heard me lmao. (Giyuu will also sing to his baby, but so softly and quietly. More of like he’s singing to himself while holding his baby but nonetheless still singing to him ♡)

Not really a silly moment but I guess a cute one! I looveee ponds and watching fish swim around and I wanna say my baby would be mesmerized by it too lol. So we’re walking through a garden as a family one day and find a pond with koi inside so me and baby Tomioka are just staring in awe, pointing at the fish and just simply entranced lol. And it gives Giyuu a chance to just stare and admire us and he just thinks about how absolutely happy and lucky he is ppfftt. Such a soft expression on his face!! Smiling happily at us as he watches his family being all cute and domestic lolol. And then he starts to think of adding a koi pond to his estate so that we could stare at it all the time kekeke

3. Your favorite piece(s)?

Aaaahh that's difficult hm, cause there's a lot of old art I haven't obviously posted on here as well that I like so I'll stick to art I posted here obviously lmao. I really really like the vettonso matador piece, like the colors and the pose and everything, it feels a lot like older art I've drawn so I was happy to get back at it y'know. I love this particular Seb portrait, bcs im proud that I drew literal historical artifacts 😭 I'd love to try and draw more of that type of thing. And I like this painting practice a lot bcs it really jumpstarted the way I paint today! But tbh I think every art piece is my favorite art piece bcs I only rly finish a few or less a month, so they all mean a lot to me

17. What is something you're confident about in your art

I guess my ability to actually put things on paper??? When I have a random idea, I'm usually at least somewhat confident I can actually execute it. It's just so fun to go from randomly having an idea in your head to having a finished product. That's why I usually put a process gif, fun to see how it got there!

24. What's a compliment about your art that has always stuck with you

A friend on here once told me they were very surprised to learn I haven't taken an art class since middle school. I'm weirdly proud about that. I like to do things in my own way on my terms so :)

30. Whats something you're proud of about your artstyle?

I could probably come up w a more serious answer for this BUT I love the little cheek marks I draw on literally every piece and I'm soooo curious if anyone's ever actually noticed them or not. For some reason I started drawing them one day, idek if I can find that first one bcs it was an evolution, and I've never stopped. I think my art style is generally pretty unique to me? But at the same point, I'm happy to have that tiny little thing as a little hallmark of my work

i was reading a villainess manhwa as one does when i suddenly got the urge to write this little thing. im not gonna continue it but i wanted to share it. i hope you like it!

“How did I end up in this situation?”

Blue eyes swept across the sea of people in the ballroom. There were whispers here and there, some people glancing over at the stunningly beautiful blue-haired lady standing by the wall.

“Aaaahh…I want to go home and watch stream vods and play video games! But that’s impossible!”

A perfect smile twitched slightly behind an aquamarine fan. The lady held her fan closer to her face in order to hide her crumbling composure.

“What composure? That never existed the second I woke up in this place!”

Lady Juliana Mintaura, the most beautiful woman in the Empire.

“That’s right…”

She is the daughter of Duke Nathan Mintaura, the Sword Saint and the most powerful noble.

“Indeed…”

But she is also the most cruel villainess with an infamous reputation.

“Yes…”

Blue eyes closed, the perfect smile crumbling behind the aquamarine fan.

“THAT’S ME.”

Inside Juliana, an internal conflict was happening.

“Why did this have to happen to me?! I, Karina Weiss, am in the most dire pinch of my entire life! Or would that be my entire second life…?”

That’s right. This was not Juliana’s first life. The soul inside Juliana was that of a humble introvert named Karina Weiss. Born and raised in the modern world of her past life, Karina–now Juliana–was panicking in the midst of a party for nobles.

One month ago, Juliana had a dangerously high fever, and in the midst of her suffering, she remembered the life she lived as Karina. She was a normal girl who was quite the introverted otaku, but otherwise led a normal life. She didn’t have big goals like becoming a doctor or a lawyer, but rather she wanted to be a housewife and enjoy her hobbies. A simple happiness was all she wanted.

Juliana sighed quietly. “That was all I wanted, but then that damn driver just had to be texting on his phone!”

The fire of anger burnt within her and those who were nearby nervously shuffled away.

“This is why you don’t text and drive, people! I was just on my way from picking up my long awaited figure of my favorite character from ‘Winding Wonderland’ and then some idiot ran me over! Now I’m never going to get to play the event I was waiting so long for that had him as an SSR card! And don’t get me started on how scared I was when I realized I was dying!”

She sighed again, shaking her head to compose herself. She looked back at the sea of people, taking in her surroundings.

“I died and got reincarnated into that game I played, ‘For the Light of the Saintess’. I really just got isekai-ed, huh? Didn’t think I’d actually live out the life of one of my favorite genres.”

“For the Light of the Saintess”.

It was an Otome RPG set in your typical magic academy for nobles. The protagonist is a commoner girl named Marie who was adopted into a baron family. She was admitted into the academy as the baron’s daughter and over the course of the story, it is discovered that she has light magic, making her the saintess that will purify the world of evil alongside the men who adore her.

Of course, any otome game had to have a villainess to be the rival of the protagonist. That villainess was Juliana Mintaura. She was elegant and beautiful, but looked down on commoners and as a result, looked down on Marie for her commoner background. She was cruel to the servants and was quite the elitist. Truly a villain of villains.

“And now I’m that Juliana. Just like in anime and manga, I got reincarnated as the villainess. Not only that…”

She started walking, heading to the terrace for some fresh air. After confirming that no one was around, she sat on one of the chairs and folded her hands in front of her, nervous sweat falling from her face.

“I don’t even remember how the story went or what triggers the events! It was a fun game and I enjoyed it, but holy crap do I not remember everything about it. How did those people in anime and manga manage to remember every event and dialogue choice?! I have vague memories of how things happen, but a lot of it is pretty hazy.”

Juliana put her hands on her face in despair.

“Luckily everything that Juliana learned is in my head, so I can whip out noble manners and etiquette without a problem. That part is covered, thank god. But I’m still an introvert through and through. I don’t want to talk to these noble people as much as possible. There’s so much that goes into it and all I want is to gush about my favorite stories with fellow fangirls!”

Truly, Juliana was in the most dire pinch of her second life. Somehow, someway, she had to fix her reputation as a cruel woman and not follow the plot of the game. Easier said than done, but at least she had the grace period of one year before the game started to try and salvage things.

“Let’s just hope things don’t turn out like they do in anime and manga. All I want is to live quietly, indulge in my hobbies, and NOT get involved with the main cast. I just wish there were video games here…the internet too…”

Being the daughter of the Sword Saint and the most powerful noble meant that Juliana was loaded. She could laze around for the rest of her life, doing whatever she wanted

“I have so much money that I could roll for all of my favorite character’s cards and it wouldn’t make a dent. Ah…I could’ve had that SSR masquerade ball card…”

Her hands fell from her face and she looked up at the sky.

“Well, at least this game had a glasses character, my ultimate favorite type of character. Maybe I could get some glimpses of him while I try to fix up my reputation. That’s some sort of comfort I guess.”

Juliana looked back down at her hands and clenched them. This was her life now, and she had to deal with it. No matter what, she was not going to end up like the original Juliana. In the game, Juliana was executed for dabbling in dark magic in order to get rid of Marie.

“There’s no way I’m gonna end up like that. I’m gonna laze around and live a life of luxury! I know that every time a reincarnated protagonist says that, they get involved with the main cast, but I’m gonna do my damnedest to make sure that that doesn’t happen!”

She stood up, determination burning within her as she walked back to the party. Come what may, this introverted weeb was going to do her best to avoid the game’s story. A life of luxury awaited her if she could just play things right.

“Ah…”

Juliana stopped, putting her fan in front of her mouth in thought.

“I hope the heroine isn’t a reincarnated person hell-bent on making the story happen…”
