Here are some more little snippets of promo from season 5 of 911: Lone Star.

I think the reason it works, and the reason 9-1-1 always used to be good at making the kinda silly things work (and why is struggled when someone who didn't understand or respect this was in charge) is that they take Jem seriously.

They show us in the opening that he is very smart and planes are a hyperfocus of his, and the pilot is gentle and kind to him and respects his knowledge. It's a short scene but tells the audience a lot and sets the tone- that the pilot respects this kid's knowledge and we should to.

The actor IS very charming, and the writing leans into that by not having him be too goofy and over the top, just secure in what he knows about planes. He points to exactly what Athena needs without distracting her from what she's doing and consequently Athena is able to take him seriously and offer back to him the respect he showed her in how he helped.

It SHOULD be ridiculous, and the way this show makes it work is acknowledging that yeah it's a little silly (ATC asking "is that a kid?!) but also acknowledging that the kid is smart and treating him and the storyline with a level of respect and seriousness without going TOO far into taking itself too seriously or going the other way and being too silly with it. It's a fine line to walk and when 911 hits it, it works like *magic*.

It's the same balance they managed to strike with the boner pills and prison shiv rescues: acknowledging that the solution is a little silly by letting characters crack stressed jokes about it, but respecting the characters, and the process, and the solution anyway.

See a child landing the plane is something I should think is so nonsensical and ridiculous, but instead I find myself helplessly charmed. A nine year old is gonna land the plane. Hell yeah he is

honestly i think part of it is the fact that the child actor playing jem is very charming and endearing himself which makes it work for me. literally id die for him

911: Tommy is mentioned in the synopsis and why I think it's important.

I was going to save this for the update to my ramble tonight but I decided this deserved it's own post because I think this might be another sign Tommy's sticking around / is a bigger part of the next episode then we think? If you haven't seen the synopsis for next week's episode please check it out:

The 118 and Tommy are presented with the Medal of Valor for their work on the cruise ship rescue. Meanwhile, Hen and Karen encounter an unforeseen hurdle in their foster care journey, while Eddie’s emotional affair develops further.

So I immediately noticed Tommy was listed, which isn't new information (we saw him in the promo), but something immediately screamed "this seems important that he's named." And I couldn't figure out why.

Because obviously Tommy's been listed in these before, right?

Wrong.

I went back and looked at all of this season's episode synopsis and looked at who was listed by name in them. I made main cast bold, re-occurring regulars like family and love interests italics and everyone else normal.

Abandon 'Ships: Athena, Bobby

Rock the Boat: Bobby, Athena, Hen

Capsized: Athena, Bobby, Hen

Buck Bothered and Bewildered: Athena, Harry, Buck, Eddie

You Don't Know Me: Hen, Karen, Eddie, Marisol, Buck

There Goes the Groom: Maddie, Chimney

Ghosts of a Second Chance: Maddie, Athena, Hen, Karen, Mara, Eddie

Step Nine: Bobby

Ashes, Ashes: Tommy, Hen, Karen, Eddie

Out of the many names listed, there are only two other characters who aren't part of the main/re-occurring cast that got listed. Most of the time they were vague and descriptive if another character was featured.

Such as referring to Tommy as "someone else," Mara being referred to as "a new addition to the family," and Amir as "a victim of the apartment fire."

So let's look at those two other names and the roles they played in their respective episodes.

We have Marisol getting her name in the summary for episode 5: You Don't Know Me. She doesn't necessarily appear a ton in this episode but is pretty significant in the plot since Eddie's storyline revolves around finding out she was a nun and how the impacts him. She was in 3 scenes and talked about in multiple others.

Mara was named in Ghost of a Second Chance, which was her second appearance. This episode had Karen and Hen's storyline focused pretty heavily on her and reuniting her with her brother.

So the fact they name dropped Tommy? Would only happen for one of two reasons.

He's going to be in multiple scenes this week or important to the plot.

They know people want to see him and are listing him to pull in viewers.

Both are fairly good signs for people who want him to stick around.

I also want to point out that Marisol, Mara and Tommy all have something in common. They're three characters that have the potential to move into a more re-occurring longterm role in the series next season.

Mara has the potential to become family (assuming they get over whatever hurdle is happening next week) which would put her in the same category as the other children in the show.

Marisol and Tommy both have the potential to be re-occurring role as a longterm love interest like Karen.

I was convinced Marisol was going to be gone but the fact that they are referring to this as an emotional affair and Ryan has made comments about how Eddie could see himself long term with her and loves her? I could see it going either way on whether or not they keep her since they might try to make the case he didn't physically cheat on her (even though I really hope she's gone soon simply because of the actress).

As today is the Fall Finale for 911 Lonestar & Thursday is the Fall Finale for 911 & Doctor Odyssey I feel like we’re all gonna get for punched in the gut with a bunch of Near Death Experiences (NDE) this week

*Correction - 911 LS Fall Finale is Dec 2nd (however I could still see a NDE happening tonight based on the promo so we’ll see) Ty abazoochyk for the correction 🙏🏻

For Lonestar I’m theorizing one of the following:

1) The soup man (we know he gets shot from the promo)

2) Carlos - he’s supposed to be getting a major clue this episode regarding his father’s murderer which

A) could cause a target on his back

B) cause him to do something reckless and get hurt

3) TK

A) we know he’s in the house where Campbell gets shot with the other Rangers so he could take a bullet meant for someone else (probably Carlos if this is the case but could be another member of the 126 or a Ranger as well)

B) to follow up on Carlos maybe putting a target on his back, they could decide to go after TK as a warning for Carlos

For 911

In the promo we saw Eddie & Buck trying to free the two people stuck in the car that’s filling up with water

Both Eddie and Buck have a history with water, they’ve been doing a LOT of call backs this season, & they highlighted Chris’s love for water

So NDE could be

1) Buck or Eddie in the car

2) Buck and Eddie in the car

3) Plot twist - Chris in Texas has a NDE with water

4) Buck &/or Eddie in the car, survive - get a call about Chris

5) Bobby - Brad is obsessed with him, could accidentally hurt him trying to “help” or in anger if he’s not getting the attention he wants

6) Buck, Brad’s obsession with Bobby leads him to hurting Buck

7) Athena, Sparks loses his mind and goes after Athena

8) Chimney, he’s happy with his family expanding and he was worried about something happening to Maddie so surprise twist! he’s the one in danger instead

9) Hen - hasn’t had one since the 911 / 911 LS crossover I believe, maybe this episode is gonna gun for her just for that?

For Doctor Odyssey

1) Op in this post, Cassodre made an excellent argument for why Tristan is going to have a NDE as he’s not seen in the infirmary when Max & Avery are twice

2) Avery had appendicitis & Tristan got carbon monoxide poisoning so it could be Max’s turn and Tristan’s absence in the promo is a red herring

What I’m most worried about is not the potential NDEs themselves exactly (if there are any I already know it’s gonna make me 😵‍💫 so I’m prepared lol) but if there is any (or even multiple) NDEs that are not resolved by the end of the episode and we’ll have to wait THREE MONTHS to find out what happens (for 911 & DO)… 🫨🫨🫨

Everyone cries over cut out karaoke scene like 911 never before cut out scenes they used in promo. Like remember season 5 and Halloween episode that never happened?

They more likely knew that can't put karaoke in the last variant but they also knew all the Madney or Maddie alone or Chim alone scenes are too much spoilers so they chose to use bachelor party as promo

911 is going full “go girl give us nothing” with EVERYTHING this season. Promos are based on what about 5 minutes of the episode is about, stills are misleading (for the most part) and often aren’t even in the actual episode, the title tells us nothing, and the synopsis tells us even less.

Why would you think Lou isn't going anywhere anytime soon? From everything we've seen so far, it's obvious that he is going somewhere very soon. When? Hard to tell. My bet is on episode 4 or 5.

Why would some silly bts convince you otherwise?

This bts is from over a month ago. We now know that Lou was in that scene with Oliver and Ryan, so it makes sense for him to be in the bts as well. Why wouldn't he be?

Do remember that Ryan and Oliver filmed that very first promo at the same time with Lou nowhere in sight. It's consistently been the core four doing promo while Lou was nowhere to be found.

Everything we've seen of him so far has been really old. Even the pictures he posted on his Instagram were old pictures from season 7. Now he's in some old bts.

I honestly think that he has already filmed all his season 8 scenes and he has been released of his contract, since he's back to his cameo-business and has posted some 911 related content again.

now that i’ve had all night to process that bisexual evan buckley is now canon, here are my thoughts of 7x04. THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED IT.

1. the way i was getting so much second hand embarrassment from buck trying to impress eddie and get his attention, just for eddie to ignore him???

2. i’m sad they recasted harry but elijah was amazing. his emotions during that scene with athena were just perfect. now i miss may more.

3. “does it have a heart around it” maddie kills me. the way she knows buck is in love with eddie but wants him to figure it out himself.

4. THAT ENTURE SCENE I WAS LIKE “why are they so close?” “it would be so funny if they kissed right now” my little gay heart is jumping for joy.

5. the 911 call for this episode was really sad. that poor woman not even knowing she killed her son.

6. the promo for next week??? buck really looked like “he’s right behind me isn’t he?” i’ve seen ‘leaks’ of 05 but idk how true they are. we know tommy isn’t going to be around long and the still of buck being chocked too???? i can’t wait to see eddie find buck on the date. and have buck come out to everybody because i know they’re all going to be so supportive and loving.

7. abc did in four episodes what other channels couldn’t do in 6 seasons

individually season eight for 911 has been really great, there are some episode moments that I have enjoyed

but altogether it is a mess and I did this see a little bit with season 7 in how it’s a new story every episode. However, they semi-tied things together and in season eight it’s not happening

Introducing life altering moments such as the removal of Mara, Denny getting hurt, and many others to not talk about it again once they decide it’s been wrapped up

 The episodes are not a continuous story and of course not everything needs to be explained 5 million times. But there still needs to be room for it to flow in the show.

The season was marketed as being all about bees and the pipeline was dropped barely an episode in. 8 episodes in and there’s no hint of big plot lines being addressed anytime soon.

Individually this season is doing really well but a bunch of filler episodes isn’t helping. A very small part of me feels as if this is the writers way of getting the show to be wrapped up. Lone star is already on its last season, which is a whole other story, and sometimes it feels as if they want the same for 9-1-1.

Wannabes being the episode before a mid season break where there’s nothing for the audience to want to come back to wasn’t a smart move. The promo draws attention but there’s no lead to it

they expect lou to be featured in the promo and present at the premiere while fox didn’t invite taylor’s actress and they didn’t use her scenes in the promo for season 5 while she had a more centric role since she was “taking” jlh space with her gone for her maternity leave

I have heard all about the spinoff aoksasokasasokas it's been making me laugh hysterically all day yesterday, you mean to tell me that's not rage bait? They are actually pitching that to Tim? Are you for real????? Do people not realize that the fastest way to make sure an idea won't happen is to repeatedly pitch it to a producer on social media? If he does anything with what they are pitching him, that's a major lawsuit liability, because people have proof they sent him the idea.
