about a month ago, i was watching the great american baking show (our version of the british one) and they were making sufganiyot for a challenge. it’s been on my “to bake” list because they look amazing (also, never mind thanksgiving: this is a food holiday!) 😋🕎

(7/8): decorations

when i was a kid growing up in the deserts of nevada and california, my dad would create our “christmas cactus”: he would take our many cacti and put amber lights over them, and then cast a big floodlight over them, and he titled it “sunrise in the desert on christmas morning.” i thought of the hanukkah bush and my thought process just went from there 🕯️🌵🕎
