Presenting the Great Western Railway 85xx Stone Circle class. This engine came from a discussion with a friend about a 'what if' next step for Great Western Express Locomotives had nationalization not occured.  It's not a Cathedral, but a further design. Some history on these giants.

 8500 Ring of Brodgar was the prototype, and would be purchased by a private owner before being officially being withdrawn from service. Upon her owner's death in 1982, she was donated to the National Collection. 

8501 Mitchel's Fold was the first production 85xx. She would be rescued from Barry's Scrapyard in 1973 by a preservation group dedicated to saving and restoring her. While the group would go on to save other engines after her restoration, she remains their pride and joy.

8502 Avebury was included in the purchase of the  Kingsbridge Branchline from British Railways by the Kingsbridge Preservation Group. She would serve as the line's main attraction until the late seventies, when she was withdrawn from service for overhaul. It wouldn't be until 1998 that she would return to service. Since then she has spent the majority of her time in service, although she is currently awaiting overhaul.

8503 Callanish Stones would be purchased directly from British Rails by the Great Western Society.

8504 Castleriggs Stones would be wrecked in 1965 on an embankment. British Rails determined it would cost more to recover the stricken engine then she was worth in scrap, so the engine was left abandoned.  In 1968 the Severn Valley Railway Society approached BR for permission to recover the engine. After negotiations they were given a 24  hour window to bring Castleriggs Stones back to the rails. In the waning hours of May 13th, 1969, Wrexham Cathedral pulled her newly righted cousin back onto the rails. She was found to be in shockingly good condition, having been mostly sheltered from the weather by the embankment. She would steam for the first time in 12 years in 1977.

8005 Boscawen-Un was purchased for testing by the London North Eastern Railway. Upon Nationalization she remained with the Eastern Region. When Gywneth Amari purchased the former Great Central line in 1966, 8005 was allocated to the line, and transfered to her ownership. It is hard to say which angers Great Western purists more, that she is in LNER Apple Green, or that is historically accurate.

8006 Nine Ladies would the last withdrawn from service. The workers at Swindon hid her on unused sidings, moving her evertime she was discovered, until BR just gave up and donated her to the Dart Valley railway in late 1969 just to be rid of her. Donated her as in dumping her in their yard with ownership papers left in the cab.

8007 Merry Maidens was allocated to the Midland region in 1962, and was painted in their maroon livery. Less than a year later she was scheduled for immediate withdrawl, the first of the class to be withdrawn, only for the engine to disappear. In 1973 she would be found by volunteers on the Coleford Preservation Railway in an abandoned shed during an expansion project, hidden by her old crew

The Job I Enlisted in The Corps to do resulted in the following;   Corporal in 1984 to the SNCO ranks until Retirement in 2002 (that's 18 years of Leadership in The FMF, Two Combat Tours, Five additional years Deployed OCONUS, Two floats with The MEU’s, and two Humanitarian Deployments).   I do not have a very high opinion of those who spent half (or more) of their time in The Corps on Special Duty Assignments (one is okay, two or more and you are not Deploying/ Leading Marines/ doing your job).   There is training to do something, then there is ACTUALLY doing something!   (P.S. I did mine and IMMEDIATELY got back to my job ASAP)   While on FAP to MMPR-2, I made the suggestion to The CG that those Special Duty Assignment MOS’es should be ‘Feeder MOS’es’ (Pvt. through MGysgt.).   Let those who want to do nothing other than 84xx & 85xx bullshit do it for their entire time on Active Duty!   Those who want to do their jobs (in The FMF) should be allowed to do so...   YOU COULD HAVE HEARD A FLY FART AT 500 YARDS!   Oh Well, I tried...   To those Leathernecks who are being released by their Monitors for these innermost rings of hell;   GOOD LUCK (you’ll need it)!

Crypto Is at a Critical Turning Point: 3 Factors Why Bulls Will Hold Strong

Bitcoin and the rest of the crypto market have been subject to strong reversals over the five days since last week’s highs. After reaching $10,000, the leading cryptocurrency plunged 20% in the span of 48 hours, crushed as over $1 billion worth of positions were liquidated on a number of crypto exchanges. This was reflected in altcoins, which posted similar, if not worse, losses than the market leader. This retracement has brought the crypto market to a crucial level, according to a top analyst, one that may decide the medium-term future of this market. Bitcoin Has Approached a Critical Turning Point According to a prominent crypto trader, Bitcoin (and thus the rest of the cryptocurrency market) has recently approached a “key point” at $85xx. The chart he shared to illustrate this point (seen below), marks the $8,500 region as the 50% Fibonacci Retracement of the entire move from the 2018 lows of $3,150 to the 2019 highs of $14,000. The 50% Fib level is extremely important from a technical perspective, not to mention that $8,500 has been a relatively crucial horizontal over the past two years for the cryptocurrency. Bitcoin price chart from @TraderMayne (Twitter handle), a popular crypto analyst known for making accurate macro calls. He signaled for caution in Feb. 2020, when Bitcoin saw a stark reversal. The trader didn’t explain what he expects to happen should $8,500 break, but the chart indicates that it would mark a clear bearish reversal. Though even while the chart looks bearish in that there were a number of reversal candles printed at the top of the trend, there are signs Bitcoin will hold strong. 3 Reasons Why Crypto Will Hold Strong Analysts believe that there are both fundamental and technical reasons why Bitcoin and other crypto assets are on track to remain strong in the coming months, and won’t see a stark reversal as bears expect. Some of these factors are as follows: Firstly, Bitcoin’s on-chain metrics are stronger than ever heading out of the halving. By comparing key on-chain metrics from the time of the last block reward halving on July 9th, 2016 to that of today, Glassnode’s Rafael Schultze-Kraft found: The aggregate count of BTC addresses has increased by 234%. Bitcoin’s daily active address count, which many say is one of the best metrics to determine the usage of blockchain, is up by 59%. The hash rate of the Bitcoin network — the amount of computational power being used to process blocks — is up 6,837%. This signals strong support from cryptocurrency miners about the long-term future of the network. This data led the Glassnode CTO to the conclusion that “zooming out, Bitcoin’s fundamentals keep on painting a strong and unambiguously bullish picture.” 1/ #Bitcoin fundamentals are stronger than ever. As the halving approaches, let's zoom out and look at how on-chain fundamentals have developed historically, and how they compare to the last halving.
