Corvette Stingray Named 2020 MotorTrend Car of the Year
The redefined Chevrolet Corvette Stingray won the 2020 MotorTrend Car of the Year award, earning the mid-engine masterpiece a top spot among the best vehicles the world has to offer for the third time in Corvette’s history.
The coveted honor, previously awarded to Corvette in 1984 and 1998, was presented to Tadge Juechter, Corvette executive chief engineer and Michael Simcoe, General Motors vice president of Global Design, at an event featuring industry executives and guests at MotorTrend’s headquarters in El Segundo.
Chevy’s first-ever production mid-engine Corvette represents the fastest, most powerful entry-level Corvette in the vehicle’s 66-year history, reaching 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds when equipped with the Z51 Performance Package. The reimagined icon boasts exotic proportions and a modern design inspired by racing and aeronautics to deliver unprecedented levels of quality, customization, technology and craftsmanship. Powered by the next-generation 6.2L Small Block V-8 LT2 engine, the 2020 Corvette Stingray packs 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque.
Production on the Corvette will begin in February 2020 at General Motors Bowling Green Assembly Plant in Kentucky.

New aFe Power MACH Force-Xp Exhaust System for Corvette C8
Over the last two decades, advanced FLOW engineering (aFe Power) has earned a solid reputation for manufacturing a comprehensive line of quality automotive performance upgrades. To this day, aFe’s product lineup includes more than 2,500 applications, which are all designed, developed, and manufactured in Corona, California. The brand has recently been hard at work upfitting the new mid-engine 2020 C8 Corvette. The new 6.2-liter LT2 engine is proving to respond quite well to power upgrades, and it’s safe to say that aFe is just getting started. That being said, the company has just announced the launch of its MACH Force-Xp Exhaust for the C8, now available for preorder.
Click Here To View aFe Power Catalog
The aFe MACH Force-XP Exhaust is constructed from TIG-welded, mandrel-bent 304 stainless steel for maximum strength and durability. It features a high-flow metallic black muffler, producing that deep American muscle tone that so many love. The aFe Muffler features an integrated x-pipe to balance and evenly distribute exhaust pulses traveling through the exhaust system, thus minimizing exhaust drone and maximizing scavenging. What’s more, the muffler also has a high-temperature metallic black finish for ultimate corrosion resistance.
aFe’s performance exhaust system with NPP valves is for vehicles with the performance exhaust package while retaining factory AFM (Active fuel management) valve functions. The valves help regulate, direct, and control the flow of exhaust gases by opening, closing, and partially obstructing passageways (depending on throttle position) for optimal performance benefit. This direct bolt-on system is available with three styles of quad 4.5-inch tips in Carbon Fiber, Polished Stainless, or Ceramic Coated Black. No cutting or modifications are needed, making installation simple and straightforward. According to aFe’s in-house dyno, the MACH Force-Xp Exhaust for the C8 adds up to 9 horsepower and 10 pound-feet of torque, with no tuning necessary.
Check out the sound clip below spotlighting the open valve and close valve sound of the C8 Corvette equipped with aFe’s MACH Force-Xp Exhaust.

SEXY RIDES: 2020 STINGRAY CORVETTE
By Rafa Carvajal | Photos provided by General Motors
The 2020 Stingray Corvette is Chevrolet’s first-ever mid-engine Corvette and the fastest, most powerful entry one. It delivers new levels of performance, technology, craftsmanship and luxury. The new mid-engine layout gives the 2020 Stingray better weight distribution, and better responsiveness and sense of control with the driver positioning closer to the front axle. It also delivers the fastest 0-60 time of any entry Corvette ever – under three seconds when equipped with the Z51 Performance Package. The Stingray sports a 6.2L Small Block V-8 LT2 engine that produces 495 horsepower of torque when equipped with performance exhaust, which is the most horsepower and torque for any entry Corvette. The 2020 Stingray’s canopy forward stance was actually inspired by the F22s, F35s and other modern fighter jets and Formula One racing, with a cockpit that envelops the driver to match its high performance and aeronautic theme. With Stingray’s center of gravity placed close to the driver’s inside hip, this sports car literally turns around the driver, so it completely changes the perception of vehicle handling and responsiveness. It also has dual trunks with a total of 12.6 cubic feet of cargo volume that can provide you storage for luggage or even two sets of golf clubs. Priced from $59,995.

C8 Corvette Canadian PRICE 🇨🇦🇺🇸 ______________________________________ [8/17/19] We have long known that the Base C8 Corvette Stingray will start at just $59,995 with the $1,095 destination fee included and without any options can do 194MPH! But there are also loads of options like 12 color choices, 3 brake caliper colors, optional racing stripes costing $995, a $2,495 carbon roof panel, a $995 transparent roof panel, and even dual roof panel options which can get you two to interchange at your pleasure! Now that’s all in USD.. So what about other markets? Well Canadian customers will be charged $69,998 CAD for a starting price which is impressively just $5k more than the old C7. 🔥@Allcarnews Spec Sheet: The ase C8 gets a 6.2L N/A LT2 V8 derived from the LT1 platform making around (490HP without Z51) 495HP and 465 lb-ft of torque paired to an all new 8speed custom Dual Clutch gearbox. (No manual) 0-60MPH is somehow said to be under 3sec with an apparent best run of around 2.85sec, and the Z51 pack gets you better brakes, cooling, exhaust and suspension! Now the base C8 will do 194MPH but the Z51 package adds drag with extra downforce and reduces the top speed by a few MPH though it will be quicker off the line. #Tradeoffs 🔥 Like I said many times before, the C8 is just getting started and already we are about to witness the unveiling of the C8 Stingray Convertible models this FALL! But where are the higher powered versions? Well Corvette is going to unveil the radical Twin Turbo V8 C8.R race car this fall too which will preview some of the raw nature the future Z06 and monster hybrid C8 will offer! _______________________________________ ACN EXTRA: And it continues: I want one, I want one, I want one... ________________________________________ https://www.instagram.com/p/B2g3CWRhrHu/?igshid=1eli9gnd80cwy

2020 Chevy C8 Corvette
Digital Elixir 2020 Chevy C8 Corvette
I was never much of a Corvette guy. Sure, the 1963 split rear window is gorgeous, and lots of the 60’s ‘Vettes are lovely cars. But I never considered actually owning one.
Until now.
The 2020 Chevrolet Stingray is a mid-engine, rear drive U.S. built super car. Powered by a 6.2L V-8 engine, its the only naturally aspirated (no turbos) car in this segment. The LT2 small block produces 495 horsepower (369 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque in a car that weighs only 3366 pounds (see full stats here). That means this thing is going to be fast.
After a dear friend unexpectedly passed away, I had a “life is short, what am I waiting for” moment. I looked at the C7 version of the 2017 Vette. The entry-level I test drove felt like a cheaply made Camaro, and I ended up going in a different direction, picking up a 3-year old, off lease Bimmer.
This new car does not appear to suffer from the same build quality issues. The entry level model 2020 Stingray will cost somewhere in the $58,000 range and appears to be very high quality. If you want to step up to a bigger engine, performance/track package, or higher end leather seating, GM will let buyers push their price tags to over $100k.
Still, I cannot help but think the basic Stingray at under $60k is a steal. A mid-engine, 500HP beast that just might be the best looking car from General Motors of the modern era.
I could easily imagine getting one . . .

The 2020 Corvette Stingray’s official and for the first time ever, we’ve got a production mid-engine Corvette coming. Sure, there have been a few mid-engine concepts over the years but none ever made it into the hands of customers. And while the front-engine Corvettes were dominant in their own right and respective generations, they had reached their limits in terms of performance. It was time to not only push through the boundaries but to completely break through them.
The results are impressive and for anyone looking for an American monster that can devour even its European competition, look no further than the C8 Corvette. The center of attention is Chevy’s next-generation 6.2L Small Block V8 LT2 engine, the only naturally aspirated V8 in the segment. On the base model, it’s pushing out 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque when paired with the performance exhaust, giving us the most horsepower and torque for any entry Corvette. All of this is managed with Chevy’s first eight speed dual-clutch transmission which helps to propel the Corvette from 0 to 60 in under 3 seconds when paired with the Z51 Performance Package.

With this massive shift, Chevy also had the opportunity to design one of the most expressive Corvettes ever. No limitations, no previous history. Just a clean slate to wow Corvette loyalists and pull in a younger buyer at the same time. With the covers now off, we see a C8 that might just do that but it’s still got a familiar Corvette DNA and that might be the most impressive part of this all. The proportions have shifted and the driver’s now closer to the front axle, right up against the front wheels while in the cockpit the driver has a race car-like view of the road thanks to a lower hood, instrument panel, and steering wheel. That canopy-forward stance was inspired F22 and F35 fighter jets. Goodness.
Up front, we get low profile headlamps that are designed around all-new projectors. Move around to the side and you’ll see large air intakes that are primarily for engine cooling and aero purposes but also give the C8 Corvette a presence. What you won’t see are door, hood and hatch as they’ve been completely hidden to avoid disrupting the sculpted design. If you want a peak into the engine, the rear hatch allows that while quad exhausts will let you hear it. There’s actually trunk space in the back also and can fit two sets of golf clubs which you wouldn’t think at first glance.
#gallery-0-11 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-11 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-0-11 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-11 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */

Step into the cockpit and you can actually call it that. Everything’s driver-focused and given just how well and fast the C8 Corvette’s said to drive, the pilot should have all the comfort he can get. All-in-all, Chevy’s done a great job of creating a performance-minded interior. The vertical climate controls and ultra-thin vents minimize the space of the instrument panel while the squared-off steering wheel gives more sight into the 12-inch cluster display.

Blend this with the fact that the Corvette family continues to elevate the materials and refinement infused into the interior and you’re getting an uncompromising sports car. Hand-wrapped, cut-and-sew leather components can be seen throughout, even across the entire dash. Soft leathers are complimented with real metal details and your choice of aluminum or real carbon fiber trimmings. Opt for the GT2 or Competition Sport Seats and you’ll see some carbon fiber trimming there as well.
Due to weather, we actually missed the launch event on July 18th so there are still a few things we need to see in person. The most important element is that tall button layout you see in the center console area with controls for your seats, climate, and such. We’re not sold on it just yet but we’ll need to experience it to make a better call. In some colors, it’s more palatable than others but who knows, it might feel a bit more intuitive when you’re actually in the cockpit. The same applies to the Corvette’s next-generation infotainment system. Sure, it’s got a higher-resolution display and is said to be quicker but its positioning and shell design feel like that entire system was an afterthought. Neither are deal breakers just yet but we’ve still got time between now and launch to see how both elements fair in real life scenarios.
With the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stringray, it’s the end of an era but the beginning of a new one that will still start at under $60,000. Check out more visuals of the C8 Corvette in the gallery above and expect it to go into production later this year.

The Best Muscle Cars For 2020
By Dave Ashton
Here we are, getting into the tail end of 2019 and we’re already thinking about whats going to be the tasty muscle cars for 2020. Anybody who has taken the merest sniff of what’s available in the current crop of muscle cars should know that they are completely different beasts than their grandfathers of the late 1960s and early 1970s.
What does that mean? Basically, the muscle and pony car ethos is still there – large displacement V8 engines in a mid-sized car, plenty of horsepower for the money and now with all the modern conveniences you would expect from the current crop of performance cars. Examples like the Dodge Challenger and Charger can still fly down the straight faster than s**t off a shovel, but they can also be adept. round the corners. Yes, muscle cars and corners. No problems these days. Maybe not as agile as a tiny little two seater sports car from Europe, but muscle weighs more than sinew and the raw fun is something that is attracting people more and more.
So, here we have some tasty picks for 2020 which could just tip the balance.
2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 There’s been a lot of hype around the upcoming 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and quite rightly so. A new one has been due for some time and Ford weren’t going to let the other makers trot along with their huge horsepower offerings. The 2020 version will still be part of the sixth generation, but everything has been revised from the tech. to the new mighty powertrain.
This means that driver assists, safety features and other creature comforts have been advanced. A more advanced suspension system with MagneRide dampers and a strengthened chassis will likely be fitted. But, one of the biggest talking point is the new 5.2L supercharged V8 which will produce 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet of torque, pushing along the 4,225 pounds of mass. All going through a dual-clutch 7-speed automatic lifted straight from the Ford GT.
This should all shape up to a great all-rounder, which should be great down the straights, round the corners and bragging rights to boot.
Roughly, prices should start from $74,000 for the basic layout.
2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye It’s almost remarkable that the Dodge Challenger is still on the same platform as it was back in 2008, but there is an element of ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ here. For those who couldn’t get their hands on the limited edition Dodge Demon, then the 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye filters down a lot of the nicest features.
Of course it doesn’t disappoint with the power levels, having 797 horsepower and 717 pound-feet of torque. It’s arguably still a straight line purist, but it’s still quite adept at getting round a track considering its huge bulk.
Prices start at around $73,000, with options pushing it into the $90k area.
2020 Dodge Charger Like the Dodge Challenger, the Dodge Charger sticks with the current platform and also has a range of models to suit most pockets. The starter package of the SXT comes with a 3.6L Pentastar V6 with up to 300HP, then the R/T variations with good old V8s like the R/T Scat Pack and SRT 393 with up to 485 horsepower. At the top end is the SRT Hellcat with a 6.2L supercharged V8 making 717 hp and 656 lb-ft of torque.
There are also wide-body versions and coming with four doors makes this muscle car ever more practical.
2020 Equus Bass 770 The Equus Bass 770 may seem like the anomaly of the bunch, being a more custom-made, expensive vehicle, but the aim here is to integrate the best of the old and the new into the best version of a modern muscle car. You’re going to have to cough up around $250,000, but you do get a 6.4L LS9 V8 with 640HP and a six speed manual transmission. That’s 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds.
If you want custom-made and a worthwhile company that mashes the best of the old and the new, then the Equus Bass could be an option.
2020 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Just like the GT500, the Z/28 has been around for a million years and still stands as the top line of pony cars. The last one came out in 2014 with a 2020 version on the cards. It’s still early days, but many of the bits could be based on the ZL1, with much improvements to the suspension and chassis.
A possible flat-plane crank 5.5L V8 with over 700HP looks likely and under the close eye on the rest of the market, it’s bound to be a Camaro with that little extra of spice added. Prices could be around the $80,000 mark.
2020 Corvette C8 Okay, this isn’t exactly a muscle car, but for 2020 the Corvette C8 is turning more supercar with a mid engine layout. This will likely go through an eight-speed Tremec double-clutch transmission, with all sorts of engine trickery to keep the car within its power band and for highway driving.
The base level Corvette C8 will get a 6.2-liter V8 (LT2) engine producing 495HP, with pricing yet to be announced. This is a complete shakeup of the platform and should bring supercar performance to a reasonable price point. Lotss to get excited about here.

Essex Designed AP Racing Radi-CAL Big Brake Kit Now Available for C8 Corvette
Chevrolet threw enthusiasts a curveball with the announcement of the all-new C8 Corvette. Featuring a mid-engine chassis, this was a first for Chevrolet as they had never experimented with a mid-engine design. The new engine placement and 6.2L LT2 proves to have massive potential. While many manufacturers are spending their time trying to go as fast as possible, AP Racing teamed up with Essex Parts to engineer the best big brake kit for the C8 Corvette.

Since many owners are trying to achieve as much power from their C8, AP Racing realizes that it isn’t always about how much power you have. The all-new big brake kit from AP Racing improves lap times while eliminating the chance of brake fade. Brake fade occurs due to the factory aluminum calipers getting too hot and no longer emitting enough friction to efficiently slow the vehicle down.
Improving the braking system can significantly bring down lap times thanks to allowing drivers to late brake. Braking as late as possible into a corner allows the driver to carry more speed into the corner, thus permitting a late apex. Carrying more speed into a corner to hit a late apex is an aggressive technique to improve lap times which is easily obtainable with the AP Racing big brake kit.
The factory C8 aluminum calipers don’t disperse heat efficiently enough which results in brake fade and can significantly impact performance on or off the track. Without dispersing heat efficiently, the brake fluid heats up along with the dust boots. If the dust boots expand too much they can blow out all together allowing dust into the piston.
AP Racing and Essex Parts have engineered the new C8 Corvette big brake kit for excellence and to help improve braking feel. The 6-piston calipers weigh much less than the 4-piston factory calipers which reduce unsprung weight. Dropping 14-pounds of unsprung weight highly increases performance making this the ideal brake kit for your C8 Corvette.
