The Allure of Off-Road Exploration
There's something undeniably captivating about venturing off the beaten path. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, the wilderness offers a sanctuary for those seeking solace and adventure. However, traditional means of camping often come with their own set of challenges.
Tents can be cumbersome to set up, and sleeping on the ground can be uncomfortable. Additionally, inclement weather and unpredictable terrain can pose significant obstacles to an enjoyable outdoor experience. This is where 4WD campervans truly shine.
Unparalleled Comfort on Rough Terrain
One of the primary advantages of a 4WD campervan is its ability to navigate rugged terrain with ease. Equipped with four-wheel drive capabilities, these vehicles can tackle everything from rocky trails to muddy tracks, opening up a world of possibilities for adventurous travellers.
But what truly sets them apart is their interior comfort. Unlike traditional camping setups, which often require travellers to rough it in the wilderness, 4WD campervans offer all the comforts of home in a compact and mobile package.
Luxury Features for the Modern Adventurer
Step inside a 4WD campervan, and you'll find yourself surrounded by luxury amenities designed to enhance your outdoor experience. From plush seating and cozy sleeping quarters to fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms, these vehicles are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable journey.
Imagine waking up to the sound of birdsong, brewing a fresh cup of coffee in your onboard kitchen, and enjoying a leisurely breakfast while taking in breathtaking views of the natural landscape. With a 4WD campervan, the wilderness becomes your playground, and luxury becomes your constant companion.
Freedom to Roam
Perhaps the greatest allure of a 4WD campervan is the freedom it affords travellers to roam wherever their heart desires. Unlike traditional RVs, which are often limited to paved roads and established campgrounds, 4WD campervans can venture off-road, opening up a world of remote and secluded destinations.
Whether you're seeking the tranquillity of a secluded forest glade or the breathtaking vistas of a mountaintop lookout, a 4WD campervan can take you there in style. With the ability to access remote locations and navigate challenging terrain, the possibilities for adventure are virtually limitless.
Conclusion
A 4WD campervan offers the perfect combination of off-road capability and luxurious comfort, allowing travellers to explore nature in style. With a rugged yet stylish design, these vehicles are built to handle whatever the wilderness throws their way while providing all the amenities of home on the go.
So why settle for a mundane camping experience when you can embark on an adventure in style with a 4WD campervan? Whether you're an experienced outdoor enthusiast or a novice adventurer, the allure of off-road exploration awaits. So pack your bags, hit the open road, and let the journey begin.

Mexico Highway 1 taught me that just because it looks like a highway on the map, it might not be what I expect from a highway in the states. See the following image of the map. But we enjoyed this route and used 4wd to get through some of the rocky sections. We kept expecting to see a paved two lane road ahead but never did. There were washed-out sections and a few places where the road drove up a dry stream bed over large rocks. This was the route from the north that locals used to access good-sized villages. I was glad to have all the suspension, extra fuel capacity, and recovery gear on this surprise adventure. It was also great having another Revel van along with @sharkboyg. This turned out to be one of my favorite parts of Baja. Often the best parts of a trip are discovered, not planned. @agileoffroad @winnebagorvs @mercedesbenzvansusa @bfgoodrichtires #winnebagorevel #WinnebagoRevel4x4 #gowhereyoufeel #winnebago #Overalndvan #Vanlife #mbvansambasabor #smarterthandirt #campervan (at Baja California, Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqQd4apLRbq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

BM fridges are available at Jaycar stores across Australia and come with a full-time warranty. (2). They’re a great option for campers who want a lightweight and compact appliance. Their affordable prices are more than fair considering how much larger and more expensive their competitors are.

Some of BM’s newer fridges offer Bluetooth smartphone app control, which lets you monitor the internal battery voltage and change the temperature from your phone. These fridges are available from Jaycar and in other stores across Australia. They come with a long warranty and are easy to install.

From keeping employees working at optimum levels to making your customers feel relaxed and comfortable, maintaining a stable temperature is essential. Fortunately, this can be done without breaking the bank thanks to brass monkey fridges.

Warranty
Brass monkey air conditioning fridge/freezers are built to last and come with a 3 year warranty. They are also able to accommodate a back up power battery to enable continuous operation between campsites (batteries sold separately). The 75L fridge/freezer is a great option for keeping food and drinks cold on day trips or for long camping trips and features separate freezer and fridge zones. It also has an inner LED light to help find your belongings in the dark and a convenient battery compartment. Warranty repairs/replacement are free of charge but freight charges to and from the repairer will be payable by the customer.

The 13 best vehicles for car camping
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our new world of remote working and social distancing has afforded many more people the opportunity to pursue work and life while RVing. But RVing when you’ve never done it before can be a large and expensive leap to take.
That’s why many people are opting for car camping. But — before you conjure up images in your head of living in a van down by the river — let’s chat about how comfortable and cutting-edge car camping can be.
There are cars camping with lux roof tents on top, vehicles camping with roof tents andlittle towable campers behind them, and even SUVs decked out inside for comfortable car camping in almost any environment.
All of these new trends beg the question: what is the best car for camping?

We wrote this article to help you break that all down — your options for car camping, the best cars to camp in, the best SUVs to camp in, and even the best trucks for camping.
We’ve summed it all up with our list of the 13 best vehicles for car camping. Let’s start by defining modern car camping —  What is car camping and why do it?
What is car camping and why do it?
Car camping ranges from simply sleeping in your car on a road trip to traveling in vehicles decked out with roof tents, outdoor showers, and even little kitchenettes.
By building the best camping vehicle for you, you’ll create a traveling experience that has all the freedom of RVing without the accompanying hassles of driving/towing a large rig.
People car camp for a variety of reasons, but the most popular reasons are ease of travel and ease of getting started. For example, a car camper can usually get into hard-to-reach places in national forests and public lands that are inaccessible for most RVs.
Car camping is also much easier to get into than RVing because you can sometimes even use a car you already have!
What types of cars can be a car camper?
Before we share our list of the 13 best cars for camping, let’s chat about the features of the best cars for car camping.
Generally speaking, car camping works best when you have a vehicle with a good weight capacity on its roof and ample storage space. These two requirements rule out some compact vehicles.
Vehicles with AWD or 4WD are also great fits for car camping because they’ll help you get into the backroad lands you’ll probably want to explore.
Another consideration is if you might want a car camper that can also tow something behind it.
What is a roof tent?
One of the best ways to go car camping is in a vehicle with a fold-out tent attached to the roof.
Roof tents are super comfortable to sleep in, range in price from $1,000 to $4,000, and are generally very easy to set up/takedown.
The other advantage of a roof tent is that you’ll sleep above ground — meaning you won’t have to worry about setting up a tent on rocky terrain or getting woken up by critters trying to crawl into your tent.
Generally speaking, roof tents require upgraded cargo rails on your roof rack to more easily support the weight of the tent — which can range from 100-350 pounds.
13 best vehicles for car camping
1. Honda CRV
The CRV is an ever-popular and super-nimble SUV that has been a car camper’s dream for decades. Here’s the skinny:
Roof weight capacity: 125-150 pounds
Cargo area: The CRV offers ample storage space behind the seats and — if there are only two of you — you can fold down the back seats to create a cavernous storage area or even additional sleeping space.
Drivetrain: FWD and AWD options available
Towing: The CRV has a limited towing capacity of ~1,500 pounds meaning it’s not a great option if you plan to tow a small camper.
2. Honda Pilot
The Pilot is a rockstar of reliability, space, and comfort. Featuring three rows of seating, it’s one of the best SUVs for camping trips with larger groups.
Roof weight capacity: Up to 165 pounds with the proper crossbars. This puts some of the largest roof tents on the market in range of the Honda Pilot.
Cargo area: Substantial. The beauty of having a third row is that you can easily fold it down to create a huge cargo area in the Pilot.
Drivetrain: FWD or AWD
Towing: When properly equipped, the Pilot can tow up to 5,000 pounds. This means that — in addition to a roof tent — you could even tow a small/medium-sized camper behind you.
3. Honda Ridgeline
This is one of the best trucks for camping because of its tremendous cargo room, extreme versatility, and camping accessories designed specifically for the Ridgeline.
The latest Ridgeline models look like pickup trucks but are built on a crossover SUV frame — meaning they drive like a car. This setup also means that the Ridgeline comes standard with a spacious four-door setup and a locking, waterproof bed cover that can effectively turn the truck bed into a large trunk.
And if that weren’t enough, Honda even offers a custom tent for the Ridgeline that’ll transform the truck bed into one of the best car campers you’ve ever seen.
Roof weight capacity: 110 pounds — meaning this isn’t the best fit for a roof tent. However, you can increase your roof tent capacity substantially if you use a rack system over the truck bed.
Cargo area: The sealable truck bed creates a massive trunk space for gear, tents, and other camping necessities.
Drivetrain: The Honda Ridgeline was redesigned starting with the 2016 model year to feature either FWD or AWD. In model years prior to 2016, you could also find the Ridgeline in 4×4 models.
Towing: When properly equipped, the Ridgeline can tow up to 5,000 pounds, putting some highly versatile campers in your range.
4. Toyota 4 Runner
This long-running rig has been one of the best camping vehicles since the early days of car camping.
Its tremendous off-road capabilities coupled with cavernous cargo room make it a favorite of outdoorsy types the world over.
Roof weight capacity: Up to 300 pounds with the proper after-market roof rack
Cargo area: Enough to fit a large air mattress with the seats folded down
Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive (RWD), AWD, or 4×4 are all options depending on year and configuration.
Towing: When properly equipped, the 4 Runner can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
5. Toyota Tacoma
This is one of the best cars for camping because of its nimble size, off-road capabilities, and substantial weight capacities.
Roof weight capacity: Much like the Honda Ridgeline, the Tacoma’s roof tenting abilities lie not over the cab, but rather over the truck bed, giving you hundreds of pounds of capacity for a roof tent.
Cargo area: Like the Ridgeline, the Tacoma has bed cover and tent accessories that turn the truck bed into ample storage.
Drivetrain: RWD or 4×4
Towing: 6,800 pound max tow when properly equipped
6.  1500/150 Size Trucks (e.g. Ford F-150, Silverado/Ram 1500)
Full-size trucks can be some of the best trucks for camping if you happen to have easy access to one.
We don’t recommend going this route if you’re looking for a new camping car. But if you already have a truck like this hanging around, it can be a great start to car camping.
Roof weight capacity: As with all the pickups on our list, you’d actually want to put the rack over the bed to give yourself a weight capacity for any size roof tent you want.
Cargo area: A plethora of bed cover accessories are available to create multiple storage options.
Drivetrain: RWD or 4×4.
Towing: Up to 12,000 pounds when properly equipped. But the weight of a roof tent and your gear can reduce towing capacity. Always check your owner’s manual to ensure you’re in the proper weight range.

7. Nissan Xterra
This much-loved and — in this author’s opinion — highly underrated camping vehicle has long been a favorite of light off-road enthusiasts.
Nissan stopped making the Xterra in 2015, but there is a rumor it might be coming back again as popularity for off-road vehicles increases.
Nonetheless, a used Xterra is still one of the best and most affordable cars for camping that you can find.
Roof weight capacity: 150 pounds when properly equipped
Cargo area: Similar to a 4 Runner
Drivetrain: RWD or 4×4
Towing: Up to 5,000 pounds when properly equipped
8. Nissan Pathfinder
Much like the Honda Pilot, The Pathfinder offers equal helpings of reliability, space, and comfort.
Roof weight capacity: 150 pounds when properly equipped
Cargo area: Similar to the Honda Pilot
Drivetrain: FWD or 4×4
Towing: Up to 6,000 pounds when properly equipped
9. Jeep Wrangler
There’s no way we could make a list like this without including one of the best camping vehicles of all time. The Wrangler is probably the longest-running car camper on the market today.
And that’s not surprising. With an array of off-road capabilities, towing capacity, and a plethora of custom car camping accessories, the Wrangler is in a league all its own.
Hardtop roof weight capacity: 150 pounds when properly equipped
Cargo area: The Wrangler is known to lack slightly in this arena, but newer models have improved on available cargo space.
Drivetrain: RWD or 4×4
Towing: Up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped
10. Jeep Gladiator
A new entry to the market, the Gladiator basically supersizes everything the Wrangler has to offer. With a beefed-up suspension, engine, and a large truck-bed-style storage area, The Gladiator is a worthy contender for the best car and truck for camping that we’ve ever seen.
Hardtop roof weight capacity: 165 pounds
Cargo area: The Gladiator’s truck bed can hold a tremendous amount of cargo.
Drivetrain: RWD or 4×4
–Towing: Up to 4,500 pounds when properly equipped
11. Subaru Outback
The Outback has been on the best car for camping lists for decades now due to its ample cargo area, AWD performance, and impressive weight capacities.
Roof weight capacity: 165 pounds
Cargo area: Outbacks offer some of the most cargo space for any vehicle in this class. There is plenty of room behind the seats and you can even fold down the seats to create enough space for a large air mattress.
Drivetrain: AWD
Towing? 3,500 pounds when properly equipped
12. Subaru Crosstrek
While less spacious than the Outback, the Crosstrek can be one of the best cars for camping if you need maximum nimbleness.
That’s because the Crosstrek can scoot around tight urban environments just as easily as it can national forest backroads — making this the best vehicle for camping and city living.
Roof weight capacity:  150 pounds with proper roof rails installed.
Cargo area: Not as spacious as the Outback, but excellent for a smaller vehicle.
Drivetrain: AWD
Towing: 1,500 pounds — meaning you really shouldn’t tow much more than a bike rack or small cargo trailer.
13. Chevy Blazer
Chevy recently redesigned and re-released this old classic as a modern crossover SUV.
The Blazer offers a cavernous cargo area, sporty handling and design, and ample weight capacities — making the Blazer one of the best SUVs for camping.
Roof weight capacity: 220 pounds with proper roof rails
Cargo area: Good for a 2 row SUV, but some camping folk might find it lacking compared to a Pathfinder or 4 Runner.
Towing: 1,500-4,500 pounds, depending on equipment

"Drive into Your Next Adventure: Car Rental Services"
Tumblr media
Car rental is a popular and convenient option for travelers looking to explore the stunning landscapes of New Zealand and Australia. With so much natural beauty to discover, having a vehicle at your disposal can make your trip more enjoyable and efficient. Here's what you need to know about renting a car in these two countries.
New Zealand:
Car rental in New Zealand is relatively straightforward, and there are plenty of options available. Most major car rental companies operate in the country, including Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, and Thrifty. It's also worth checking out local operators, such as Apex, Jucy, and GO Rentals.
Car rental in New Zealand if you are over the age of 21, have a valid driver's license from your home country, and hold a credit card in your name. The minimum rental period is usually one day, but some companies may require a longer rental period during peak season.
When choosing a car, consider the size and type of vehicle you need. If you're planning to explore New Zealand's rugged terrain, a 4WD or SUV may be more suitable than a compact car. Most car rental companies offer GPS navigation systems, child seats, and other extras for an additional fee.
In terms of driving, New Zealanders drive on the left-hand side of the road. The speed limit is generally 100km/h on the open road and 50km/h in urban areas, but be sure to follow the signs as speed limits can vary. It's also important to be aware of New Zealand's road rules, which can differ from those in your home country.
Australia:
Car rental in Australia is similar to New Zealand, with many of the same rental companies operating in both countries. You can rent a car in Australia if you are over the age of 21, have a valid driver's license from your home country, and hold a credit card in your name. The minimum rental period is usually one day, but this may vary depending on the company and location.
Car rental in Australia, consider the type of driving you'll be doing. If you're planning to explore the Outback or travel long distances, a larger, more comfortable vehicle may be more suitable than a compact car. Most car rental companies offer a range of vehicles, including 4WDs, SUVs, and campervans.
Australia has a comprehensive road network, with well-maintained highways and scenic routes. Like New Zealand, Australians drive on the left-hand side of the road, and speed limits can vary. Be sure to follow the signs and obey the speed limit to ensure your safety and avoid fines.
In conclusion, renting a car in New Zealand and renting a car in Australia is a great way to explore these two beautiful countries. With plenty of rental options available, you're sure to find a vehicle that suits your needs and budget. Just remember to familiarize yourself with the local driving rules and regulations, and drive safely and responsibly.

Baja has been everything we had hoped for and more. Our @winnebagorvs Revel @mercedesbenzvansusa Sprinter 4x4 adventure van might be the perfect vehicle here. In most of our favorite places, a non-4wd low-clearance vehicle wouldn’t be able to access it. There have been hours of dirt roads filled with big rocks and deep ruts, and almost all of these end in deep sand on the most beautiful beaches with glowing blue-green water. Our revel then gives us all the creature comforts once in these backcountry camps. And @starlink has allowed me to upload my YT videos from anywhere. My RIP Kit suspension from @agileoffroad has been tested with the notorious Mexican dirt (and paved) roads and trails. Our recently upgraded @bilsteinus & @foxracing shocks and struts have made a huge difference in ride quality. Baja is fantastic; however, you do it. But with a 4WD van, you have a great blend of access and comfort once there. - #winnebagorevel #WinnebagoRevel4x4 #gowhereyoufeel #winnebago #Overalndvan #Vanlife #mbvansambasabor #smarterthandirt #campervan (at Baja California Sur, Mexico) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cp5JuHEL4P4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

What Is Better Than A Leisure Travel Van Rental In Kauai, Hawaii ?
Better Than A Leisure Travel Van Rental In Kauai, Hawaii – Try A Rooftop Camper Instead!
You may have already decided to not get a room at a hotel or resort during your next vacation on Kauai, but to go the adventurous route and go camping instead! Since you will very likely also need a car to get around the island, you might have thought of getting a campervan. Though, have you heard of rooftop camper trucks, yet? They might very well be Better Than A Leisure Travel Van Rental In Kauai, Hawaii for your specific needs! Continue reading to find out why.
What is the difference between a Campervan and Rooftop Camper?
First, for those who might be still wondering, let’s talk about what a Campervan and a Rooftop Camper actually are.
  Rooftop Camper
A Rooftop Camper is a motor vehicle (typically a truck) with a roof top tent mounted on top of it, which allows the users to sleep in relative safety and comfort above the vehicle, and leaves the internal load-space free.
  Campervan
A Campervan is a motorized vehicle that provides both transport and sleeping accommodation. As the term ‘campervan’ indicates, they are vans that have been fitted out. Some are just equipped with a mattress in the back and others, more fancy ones, have a toilet, shower and sink with running water.
Better Than A Leisure Travel Van Rental In Kauai, Hawaii – Why a Roof Top Camper Truck might be better for you
In short: Campervans and Rooftop Campers are both great camping options! What is best for you really depends on what you are looking for and who you are taking with you!
Below, we will discuss the two different camping vehicles in terms of budget, drivability, nature views, weather protection & privacy, accessibility & storage and privacy.
  Budget: Rooftop Camper wins
Renting a good Rooftop Tent Camper is always going to be much less expensive than a good Campervan. Obviously, more built-in appliances in Campervans such as a toilet, shower or sink will reflect in higher prices.
  Drivability: Rooftop Camper wins
Campervans are usually at least a full 12″ inches wider than a Roof Top Camper and usually a lot taller and longer as well.
If you would like to go on off-road adventures or just explore more private places at the end of one of Kauai’s many bumpy dirt roads, a 4wd roof top camper is definitely more suitable. Additionally, the visibility on Campervans isn’t always great and it often can be tough to find a large enough parking space when in town.
So, in terms of drivability the Roof Top Camper clearly wins.
If at this point you already realize that a rooftop Camper Truck is Better Than A Leisure Travel Van Rental In Kauai, Hawaii and is most suitable for an epic camping vacation on the Garden Island, check out our top quality 4wd Rooftop Camper Trucks at Kauai Rooftop Campers.
      Nice Views: Rooftop Camper wins
The elevated position of a roof top tent offers great views and one could spend hours in a beautiful place just lying there watching nature show off. In addition, as just mentioned, a Roof Top Camper can be more drivable while off-roading or managing bumpy dirt roads on the way to secluded beaches, which surely will reward you with more stunning views.
Weather protection & privacy: Campervan wins Unlike most roof top tents, a Campervan has hard walls. Essentially, this means less wind noise and impact, less dampness when it rains, more security, and more privacy.
  Luxury: Campervan wins
In terms of luxury, a Campervan clearly has advantages over a roof top tent. While the rooftop tent is usually more luxurious than a ground tent, it’s not really comparable to sleeping in a a climate-controlled Campervan.
People looking for heating, air conditioning, extra storage and plumbing would probably be better off in a Campervan versus a rooftop tent.
Of course, the extra luxury will come with a much higher price tag.
  Bottom line
If you love to adventure through nature off the beaten path, like to feel more connected with the elements and/or are on a budget then a rooftop camper truck is for you!
If you like to bring more homey comfort such as running water, built in shower & toilet and protection from weather into your camping experience and are willing to pay for it, then a campervan is better for you.
In a nutshell: Rooftop Campers are typically more gentle on your budget, more rustic, and feel more like camping out. Camper Vans are generally pricier, more homey and feel more private and protected.
If you decide that a Rooftop Camper is your best choice for an unforgettable camping experience in Kauai, Hawaii…

Jamie and Jonathan are by far the very best experience with Airbnb we have ever had. Truly generous human beings with big hearts. They provided wonderful suggestions, amenities, and a wonderful 5 star experience. We will certainly rent again. For our first experience in Hawaii, they made sure it was second to none. If you’re coming to Hawaii to truly experience nature and looking for a ‘no nonsense’ and easy process to explore the island the way it was meant to be, you could not attain better hosts.
