Just saw someone on X going off about Cregan Stark being just a "dumb toxic masculine northman" in the Hour of the Wolf; thugging his way through Kings Landing and murdering people just because he was thirsty for blood.

Um, NO.

The "False dawn" was called FALSE for a reason. Just because Stark logic lacked the asslicking and subterfuge of southern politics doesn't mean it was wrong. Peace wouldn't last just because one king was offed and another took his place. Not when we factor in the following:

Aegon III was promised a hand of the Green princess in marriage to unite both factions- but the girl was NOT in Kings Landing, and was not under the blacks' control.

Neither Castely Rock, nor Storms End, nor Old Town have bent the knee or surrendered.

None of the people who started the war OR who offed the king were punished. YET.

Which means, the moment Riverlands army and Northern army were out of the South, all those vultures could've swarmed the Kings Landing, murdered the Black king and put another one on the throne.

As for the "toxic masculinity" - I have to laugh. He literally marched all the way from the North with his army to fight for a woman that was already dead just because he promised her son to do so. He only executed 2 people, which by GOT measures is NOTHING. He stopped his punishments and allowed many to live because two women asked him to because he is a giant grumpy marshmallow.

As for the argument that he was itching for more war just because he promised his greybeards they would die in battle - yeah, he promised them a glorious death in battle, but he also had no problem leaving them to the widows of the Riverlands, giving the men a new life and making the women there happy.

Nothing dumb or toxic in any of his behaviour. If anything, he showed the whole continent how a real man SHOULD behave.
