🇺🇸Medal of Honor recipient 2nd Lt. Albert E. Baesel, 148th Infantry Regiment (Ohio National Guard), 37th Infantry Division, US Army. Killed in Action during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive on September 27, 1918. He was 27 years old. His MoH citation details his heroic actions on that day: 'Upon hearing that a squad leader of his platoon had been severely wounded while attempting to capture an enemy machinegun nest about 200 yards in advance of the assault line and somewhat to the right, 2d Lt. Baesel requested permission to go to the rescue of the wounded Corporal.
