Az egyetlen igazán releváns lista, az összegzés, amit mindenki várt 2019 és Az Évtized végén:

1999 legjobb albumai, jónehány zenerajongó szerint!

2011-ben az egyik első Recorder magazinban összeállítottam és megírtunk egy húszas listát a húsz évvel korábbi, 1991-es legjobb albumokról, a dologból hagyomány lett. A listák 1992-től közösen készültek az aktuális stábbal, 1998-at tekintettük át így utoljára a Recorderben. A sorozatot a távozásom után is folytatni akartuk, legalább a kilencvenes évtizedre húsz évvel visszatekintő sort lezárni 1999-cel, ami – néhány hónap meg nem feszített munkája után – íme, itten.

Tíz barátom, Csada Gergely, Elekes Roland, Fábián Titusz, Forrai Krisztián, Lékó Tamás, Németh Róbert, Salamon Csaba, Szabó Benedek, Szabó Csaba, Varga Zsófia szállt be a listába rajtam kívül. A végeredmény egyfajta keresztmetszet arra, hogy mi is volt húsz éve (sok más, főleg önmagukban álló albumcsodák mellett: a Dre-Timbaland-Neptunes triász megalapozta a 2000-es évek pop- és hiphop-hangzását, a posztbritpop-melankólia megágyazott a még retrósabb rockreneszánszoknak, az albumképes elektronika pedig csúcson volt), egy ajánlat arra, hogy miért is érdemes ápolni a kapcsolatot a nemfriss zenékkel. Persze az egyéni listákért talán még inkább érdemes lentebb görgetni, sokat mondanak arról, hogy mennyifélék vagyunk, hogy mennyiféleségben tudunk egyfelé húzni, hogy mennyi, hatását hosszan őrző zene van a világban. Jó szemezgetést, nosztalgiázást, ismerkedést, boldog zenehallgatást minden nyitott fülnek 2020-ban is!

The inherent problem with melee weapons

In most cases, melee weapons have the least impact of any loadout choice on gameplay. That’s simply because they aren’t used very much, especially on certain classes.

Look at the melee weapons out there that don’t affect only melee fights. In my index, I’m not counting stock items, as those likely have a higher rate of equip than normal because of how many users install the game, play a couple minutes, and then drop out.

I’m on the fence about whether I should include stock reskins or not; many reskins, like the Saxxy, are vanity statements; others are “meme” items like the Frying Pan or the Holy Mackerel. For these purposes I will include them, all lumped together.

As of July 31, 2017, notable examples (i.e. not Engie/Demo/Spy) are as follows:

The top Scout melees are various reskins (25%), Sandman (24%), and the Boston Basher/Three-Rune Blade (10%); the latter two have effects not used for melee combat.

The Atomizer is next (7.5%), and it has a passive effect.

Together, the Escape Plan (32%), Disciplinary Action (18%) and Market Gardener (16%) make up 66% of Soldier’s melee weapon equips. That’s including stock. 

Reskins make up about 9%.

The Pyro’s melees are dominated by the Powerjack, at 34%; following it are the Axtinguisher (15% with reskins) and the Homewrecker/Maul (12%).

Melees focused on meleeing, the Third Degree and Sharpened Volcano Fragment, are dead last of the original melees with 7% combined.

In the Heavy’s corner, no surprise: the Gloves of Running Urgently are at 28%. Following them are various reskins and the Holiday Punch (10%) and the Fists of Steel and KGB (9%).

The Eviction Notice is at 6%, which surprised me; I like it better than the GRU. To each their own.

Medic’s Ubersaw reigns (62 whopping percent). Then the Amputator (11%) and stock reskins (5%).

For Sniper, the stock reskins are at 29%; the Bushwacka at 20%; and the Tribalman’s Shiv at 16%.

The Shahanshah’s 8% looks measly by comparison. It’s the lowest.

A recurring theme is that melees with additional “twists” that extend further than bludgeoning someone score the highest. It’s especially evident for the Soldier and Heavy.

By contrast, the ones that just bludgeon people differently - examples are the Shahanshah, Third Degree and Warrior’s Spirit - are consistently lower on the rankings, often dead last.

It tells you something, don’t it?
