“I’m sorry for not believing you”
For you, lovely! Under the cut because tumblr has something against me.
“Why do you sound like you have your head stuck in a bucket?” Eddie says with a confused frown.
“Well it’s not!” Buck huffs. “I… UGH I’m so stupid!”
“You’re not stupid,” Eddie says definitively. “I’m almost there, tell me what happened.”
“I was carving pumpkins for us to take to Hen and Karen’s party,” Buck says, his voice muffled and echoey and far away. It may just be because the speaker on Eddie’s phone is jacked up.
“Uh-huh,” Eddie says when Buck doesn’t continue, drawing out the syllables. “And?”
“And I… might have my head stuck in a pumpkin.”
Eddie opens his mouth to reply, when the words fully register. He rolls his lips and swallows the laugh bubbling up in his chest. “You do not have a pumpkin stuck on your head.”
“Why would I lie about having a fucking pumpkin stuck on my head?” Buck cries.
Eddie pulls up outside Buck’s building and hops out, forgetting the hat to his costume on the seat and jogging inside. “I’m in the elevator, I’ll be there in a minute,” Eddie says, preparing himself for whatever catastrophe Buck is really facing.
“The door’s unlocked,” Buck says with a weary sigh before hanging up.
Eddie jogs to Buck’s door and steps inside.
He freezes in his tracks and bites down hard on his lip to keep from bursting out laughing. “Buck.”
Buck whirls around to face him, his cape swishing with the movement, his eyes just barely visible through the carved eyes of the pumpkin on his head.
“You-” Eddie claps a hand over his mouth- “you actually have a pumpkin on your head.”
“I told you!” His voice sounds even more garbled than it did on the phone, and his wide puppy eyes peering at him through the gourd should make Eddie feel guilty for wanting to laugh, but it has the opposite effect.
“I'm sorry for not believing you,” Eddie says, his hand still over his mouth to hold back his giggles.
“Apologize later, just help me!” Buck exclaims, tugging at the gourd adorning his noggin.
Eddie joins him at the kitchen island. “How did you even… Why did you even…”
“Remember, I told you Jee wanted me to be-”
“The headless horseman from that one Scooby Doo,” Eddie nods, Buck's logic making as much sense now as it probably could. “And you wanted to see if you could use an actual pumpkin for the head.”
Buck's shoulders drop. “Yeah,” he admits, a little dejected.
“You're adorable,” Eddie says with a smile way too fond. His eyes widen in shock at the same time Buck's do. He most definitely did not mean to say that out loud.
Buck recovers first. Even without the mouth carved out, Eddie can tell there's a smirk on his face, albeit a little sheepish. “Even with a pumpkin on my head?”
Eddie snorts a surprised laugh. “Even with a pumpkin on your head.” He looks at the array of utensils and special carving tools Buck has spread across the island and selects a short, serrated knife.
“You sure you want out?” Eddie grins. “I think it suits you.”
Buck ducks his head and topples forward a little with the weight of the gourd, a small, surprised whoa escaping his lips. Eddie giggles and helps right him. “Yes, get me out of here,” Buck says. “I know orange is my color, but this is too much.”
Eddie chuckles and sets to work, starting at the top of the pumpkin, which Buck had thankfully carved out already.
“Hold still,” Eddie says softly. He doesn't know if this'll work, but they've got to start somewhere.
Buck does as instructed, fingers gripping the countertop to keep from fidgeting as Eddie carefully saws through the pumpkin. He doesn't go deep enough to completely puncture it, but he creates enough give to pry it apart.
Buck sighs in relief as the pumpkin comes apart in Eddie's hands. There's a few seeds in his curls and the puppy eyes are out in full force, and Eddie truly doesn't think he's ever looked more beautiful.
“Thanks, Eds,” Buck says, a blush high on his cheeks.
“Always,” Eddie says, much more soft than necessary. “But please don't do that again.”
Buck giggles. “I don't plan on it. But if I do, I know I can call Zorro to help me.”
Eddie rolls his eyes with a smile. “This costume was your idea, remember?”
“I didn't think you'd actually do it,” Buck says, trailing his fingertips along the collar of Eddie's half buttoned shirt.
“Buck, I don't think there's a single thing you could ask of me that I wouldn't do,” Eddie declares, looking into his eyes. He thinks he should be terrified, but giddiness overtakes any lingering fear when Buck tugs him close by the collar.
“Yeah?” Buck's eyes dart down to his lips. “Even if I asked you to kiss me?”
Eddie cups his cheek and draws him into a devastating kiss. Buck makes a soft noise against his lips Eddie swallows down. He tastes a little like pumpkin but Eddie doesn't care. Something settles inside him as Buck cups his face in his hands, deepening the kiss.
Buck is the first to pull away, resting their foreheads together. “So… if there’s nothing you wouldn’t do…” Eddie watches, half dazed, as a smirk spreads across Buck’s kiss-swollen lips. “Then would you let me fu-”
Eddie cuts him off with a quick kiss they both laugh into. “We’ll come back to that later. Right now, we have a party to get to. I didn’t dress like this for nothing.”
Buck hums and kisses him again. “You sure didn’t.”
Eddie makes himself pull away and take Buck’s hand. “Come on, pumpkin.”
Send me an I'm Sorry prompt!

Inspired by @captain-flint's post.
“It’s a beautiful thing, isn’t it?” Having a crew like this behind you – even when things go wrong.” Tommy reflects, watching the 118’s relief over the text in the group chat. The group chat Tommy isn’t in. Understandably. He’s only been with Evan for five months. It was nice enough for Evan to invite him to come to the hospital and wait for Denny to get out of surgery with everyone.
“Especially when things go wrong.” Evan replies, letting his gaze linger like he really wants Tommy to take it in. It works, because Tommy feels his insides become just that much squishier and his grip on his coffee cup tightens enough to crush the styrofoam if he isn’t careful. “Oh my god, that’s it.”
“What?”
“I know how to break the curse.” Great. More curse talk. A part of Tommy was hoping with the more pressing matters of Denny being in the hospital, maybe Evan could go a few hours without mentioning Billy Boils. But as he looks at the clock on the wall, he sees it’s only been forty-five minutes since his last ‘not so fun’ fact about the outlaw.
Tommy shakes his head and takes a sip from his cup as Evan starts typing up a plan in his notes app. A plan that no doubt involves Tommy. Which he’s more than okay with. No matter what they’re doing, as long as Tommy is with his boyfriend, he’s satisfied. He’d be a little more satisfied if he could kiss Evan without risking getting an infection – but at least it hasn’t got in the way of other activities, like the blowjob he gave him this morning.
***
Thirty or so minutes later, Karen gathers everyone so they can sign Denny’s cast. Tommy is the only one who doesn’t stand up. Evan grabs his hand and pulls him. “C’mon babe, you too.” He shoots his boyfriend a look that reads ‘are you sure?’ and Evan doubles down, pulling him up with both hands now.
Tommy agrees, but when they get to the room, he stays back in the doorway. He’s not part of the 118 extended family. There wasn’t one when he was at the station, and he hasn’t been back in their lives long enough to warrant an invitation to join just yet. Maybe when he and Evan get more serious. Maybe when he finally asks him to move in will he feel part of the posse he’s always craved.
Everyone lines up and starts signing Denny’s cast – drawing or writing inside jokes and messages Tommy knows nothing about. He’s never even met Denny formally. Maybe back in the day, Karen brought him to the station when she occasionally picked Hen up. But he would have been a child then. Fuck, he’s old – he’s reminded looking at the kid who’s taller than his moms now.
Denny’s cast, withstanding the signatures, looks the same as the one Tommy had the summer he moved to LA. He broke it falling down the stairs during his worse and final fight with his father. He discharged himself from the hospital, hopped on a bus to California, and crashed on his cousin’s couch until he was healed. Once he was cleared, he was immediately deployed, needing to get as far away from his father as possible. Not like the bastard was looking for him.
No one signed his cast that summer. Not even his cousin. Which he’s thankful for. The only thing more pathetic than a blank cast is a cast with one measly, pity signature on it.
Tommy understood loneliness. It had been suffused into his bones for as long as he could remember. He learned feeling alone the majority of the time was just part of life. He had friends, made himself useful so he could occasionally be invited over to help out with a task and maybe get offered a beer or to hang around after. It was a temporary band-aid on the perpetually alone feeling he’s accustomed to.
It worked fine for him. For forty (plus) years, Tommy had to find a way to be content with being the loneliness he was stuck with. He nursed his injuries by himself, learned to cook meals for one, found enjoyment in being the only one in the theater at an afternoon movie.
Then Evan Buckley came into his life. His wonderful, bright eyed, golden retriever of a boyfriend who’s happiest when he’s surrounded by loved ones. Over the past five months, Evan has shown Tommy how incredible it is to have someone constantly by your side. To have a ‘Morning babe!!’ text with a dozen emojis waiting for him when he woke up and another wishing him a good night before bed. Evan will stop at nothing to remind Tommy he’s welcome in his life – all of it.
Eddie too. It took two hang outs before he was inviting Tommy over to show Christopher flight sim. He’s never had a boyfriend like Evan or a best friend like Eddie. He feels almost spoiled about it. His heart doesn’t know what to do with all this affection. For so long, being on his own was he all he’s known. And now he can’t remember the last time his calendar wasn’t stacked with outings and hang outs. He hasn’t had a lonely night in, feeling miserable and self-loathing since the night he saved Bobby and Athena. Since the 118 returned to his life.
Tommy’s brought back from his thoughts when Eddie shoves him. Evan is staring at him – wait – everyone is staring at him. Then he sees Denny holding out the sharpie towards him. “Aren’t you gonna sign too …” He looks over to Hen and she mouths his name. “… Tommy, right. I knew that.” Everyone laughs, Tommy included.
Maybe he does belong.

Also Buck got injured at season 3 at his arm and it was serious because he just show how he would save anyone without checking himself out and he was alone. While in season 5 he got injured in a dumb way but Eddie was there to take him at the hospital...

top 5 times tommy kinard was husband-shaped
turns out i've got opinions about this.
5. attending a cowboy funeral (8x05)
you don't watch your beboiled boyfriend give a eulogy to a 200-year-old cowboy mummy in a full suit if you're not in it for the long haul. this is a show of commitment on the same level as promise rings.
4. getting that coffee (7x05)
who but a future husband would look at buck like this after being caught in the blast radius of his self-destruction on a first date?
3. bringing buck breakfast 'in bed' (8x05)
8x05 gave and gave and gave with acts of service tommy. you just know he set his alarm early enough so he knew he'd be up before buck, and he set his phone to vibrate so buck wouldn't hear it. he spoils his man and i love to see it.
2. taking care of buck (8x05)
fluffing his pillow (not a euphemism). changing his ice pack. sleeping on the couch with the smallest blanket in the world just so he'd be right there in case buck needed something in the middle of the night. related to the last entry, but disinct enough to deserve its own mention.
1. the loft dinner (7x10)
look. this is it for me. this is the moment that made me go oh. he is husband-shaped. i think this moment in particular gets overlooked because it immediately precedes tommy giving buck the green light to call him daddy, but look how soft he is! how concerned and caring - how attentive, to notice that buck was feeling off! this moment is unbeatable to me, but if the writers want to take that as a challenge, well, i certainly won't stop them.
#rose.txt#bucktommy#tommy kinard#my main criteria for husband shapedness wrt tommy are Soft. Sweet. and So so beautiful#shoutout to the WONDERFUL AND SUPREMELY GENEROUS GIFMAKERS who share their creations with us!!

every tevan shipper who's surprised about the breakup or says that there was nothing pointing towards this simply has zero media literacy. like, i'm sorry but it's not everyone else's fault that you can't pick up on the most in-your-face hints possible.
i do agree that ultimately the reason they broke up was weird and came a little out of left field but the breakup itself? that absolutely didn't.
since the moment tommy came back, everyone in interviews said almost outright that he's an entrylevel relationship, that tevan becoming a thing was a spontaneous decision, that tommy's a plot device, etc. in the beginning, even lfjr said that! he only started baiting all of you when he realized he could get some money out of it.
there was absolutely nothing hinting that tommy would be anything more than temporary — the opposite was hinted at repeatedly, in the previous episode alone.
like, what did YOU think it meant that tommy got next to no screentime all season except for the episode before the one in which we knew buck and tommy would have relationship troubles? did you really think they gave him screentime all of a sudden for any reason other than to make the inevitable breakup more impactful?
what did you think it meant that they didn't share a single kiss the entire season? that there was zero PDA between them?
what did you think it meant that eddie was involved in 90% of their relationship?
what did you think it meant that they made it a point to show that tommy isn't actually all that close to buck or his circle (not knowing who sargeant grant is, not being in the gc, etc.)?
what did you think it meant that after 3 months they were still in the 'getting to know each other' phase of their relationship?
what did you think it meant that their last scene in 8x05 was at a literal graveyard and that there was a huge physical distance between them?
and all of that isn't even mentioning all the ways in which they're simply incompatible and have been from the start.
be disappointed if you want, but don't blame everyone else for your blind optimism

im going to try to be nice because bucktommy's are going to inevitably see this and im not trying to start shit.
i'm seeing a lot of confused bucktommy's about the breakup. claiming it was a last minute decision, it was because lou didn't want to keep dealing with it (wtv that means), that it makes no since because of 8x05, and a lot of other spiraling bs.
i even saw someone say that buddie is never going to happen because oliver said eddie is straight...
i'm going to break this down as clearly as i can, because i've historically had issues with bt's and comprehension skills.
1. the bucktommy breakup was inevitable from the moment they got together. if for no other reason than tommy himself. from the beginning of their relationship, tommy has decided if buck was ready. not buck. tommy left buck standing on the side of the road aftet their first date because tommy decided he wasn't ready. because buck was nervous to come out to his best friend in public. tommy decided that buck would break his heart and that he wouldn't be buck's last. tommy came into that relationship assuming it would end. not buck, and not the audience. we were just picking up on what tommy was telling us. especially, given the fact that buck was fully ready and able to move past the abby clark of it all. tommy was a bad partner to buck, that's why they broke up.
2. i said this after 8x05, it wouldn't have made since to give us an on screen breakup if the only thing we saw of tommy was the thirty second birthday scene in 8x01. 9-1-1 loves a three ep arc and buck's side of whatever realization he might have started on 8x05. we needed to see more of tommy so it made sense when he broke up with buck. throughout all of 8x05, we saw the seeds of doubt being sowed in tommy. from the hospital scene after denny, to the closing one, tommy realized he didn't fit or at least wouldn't for long. because he never got that built-in family. he doesn't trust/believe that anyone would have his back like that. and he made that choice all on his own.
3. lfj is fine. he's a mulit-million dollar nepo baby. one whose been callled out for negative past behaviors and some people consider that bullying. lfj knew how long he was going to be on the show when he signed the contract to come back. the networks choice not to renew that contract had nothing to do with buddie stans. his storyline was over.
4. i can't even be confident that he's gone. there was a lot of stuff left unsaid or moved past too quickly. now 9-1-1 has a history of bad writing in that regard but they also have a habit of dropping things to only come back to them episodes or even seasons later. if he's really gone well thank god, but if he's not im not totally shocked.
5. i don't know how many times i have to say this. if eddie is gay or bi or demi or wtv, the cast wouldn't be able to say so because it would be a MAJOR spoiler. does no one remember andrew garfield and tom holland lying their asses off about spiderman ffh??? actors are liars, its like the whole bit. buck was straight until he wasn't. let's stop being dense and accept that maybe they aren't telling us everything because that would the defeat the purpose of the show.
look at this point im not just in this for buddie. im in this for an eddie that gets to be unapologetically himself. and im going to emphasize one more time how dangerous and disrespectful it is to force eddie back into the proverbial closet because it doesn't fit your ship.
