Far-Right Mass Shootings, May 2022-May 2023

Now that we know that the mass murderer in Allen, Texas was a far-right extremist and incel (as well as that puzzling but not-that-uncommon mix of being a racialized neo-nazi/white supremacist), we wanted to illustrate that mass shootings by the far-right are not aberrations with this list of similar events from over the last twelve months: December 23, 2022: A gunman opens fire in Paris, killing 3 Kurdish people & wounding 3 more in a plan to “kill non-European foreigners.” The attacker had just been released from prison after attacking migrants in Paris with a sword the year before. December 19-20, 2022: 22-year-old Anderson Aldrich enters a CO. gay bar with an assault rifle & opens fire, killing five and wounding 25 others before he is subdued. November 25, 2022: A 16-year-old former student storms two schools in Aracruz, Brazil, armed with two pistols and wearing a bulletproof vest emblazoned with a swastika. The teen shoots 16 people in the rampage, killing three of them. October 12, 2022: After posting an online manifesto against Jewish & LGBTQ+ people, a Bratislava, Slovakia teen shoots three people outside a local gay bar, killing two and wounding the third person before fleeing. The suspect was found dead the next day. September 27, 2022: Brothers Mark & Michael Sheppard are charged with manslaughter for opening fire on a group of migrants getting water near Hudspeth County, TX. One victim died from gunshot wounds, and one is recovering at an El Paso hospital. September 26, 2022: A gunman wearing a balaclava and a t-shirt with a swastika emblazoned on it enters an elementary school in Izhevsk, Russia, killing 15 people - 11 of them children - and wounding another 39 before turning the gun on himself. September 11, 2022: 53-year-old Igor Lanis�� obsession with far-right conspiracies ends when he guns down his wife, 25-year-old daughter, & family dog, before turning his shotgun on responding police, who shoot him dead. Only his daughter survives. August 9, 2022: A group of Black men helping someone jump-start a car in a Macon, GA. Wal-Mart parking lot are subjected to racial abuse by another man who then pulls a gun and begins shooting at them. May 15, 2022: 68-year-old David Wenwei Chou is charged with hate crimes after storming a Taiwanese church in Laguna Woods, CA. and shooting parishoners, killing one and injuring five others

May 14, 2022: An 18-year-old white supremacist opens fire in a supermarket in a black neighbourhood in Buffalo, NY, killing ten customers and wounding three others while livestreaming the attack.

May 11, 2022: A masked gunman walks shoots 3 Korean women working in a Dallas hair salon. Authorities believe the incident is connected to two earlier drive-by shootings targeting Asian-owned businesses in the Dallas area on April 2nd and May 10th. This is just a list of mass shootings committed by bigots, fascists, and far-right extremists over the last 12 months. We haven't included shooting with less than two victims, thwarted mass shootings, or any of bombings, stabbings, vehicle attacks, or other acts of violence.

In 2022 we documented 477 violent incidents motivated by hate or committed by bigots, fascists, or right-wing extremists, including 112 shootings. These attacks killed 366 people and injured 399 others. Read our 2022 report here. When we say anti-fascism = self-defence, we meant it. The endpoint for far-right ideology is mass murder. Fascists intend to do harm to our communities and will seize on any opportunity to hurt others. The only thing stopping them is ourselves. WE PROTECT US!

a long introspective post because i know with time i will forget this and i want to remember it all.

night of june 30th, technoblade's death was announced. i didnt believe it for a few minutes because i couldnt watch the video (i still havent). but it was true -- he passed away age 23 from cancer he discovered *less than a year* before his death. i keep quiet about how much i liked minecraft youtubers 2020 - 2021 because that turned out to be a DISASTER. but technoblade was one of the shining beacons. genuinely always the best, completely outside of post-death rose-tinted glasses. always.

before that, i was kind of getting into my chemical romance. id known of them my whole life. from dan and phil references to annoying ass g-note jokes to the twenty one pilot's cancer cover. i heard the Big Three hits but couldnt tell you what they were (except for "welcome") before listening to three cheers for the first time at the end of june. i dont know why i decided to start them. i wasnt really into music -- my top albums the last couple years included burnham's inside, starkid's twisted, and falsettos (2016). i wish i remembered better. if listening to them for the first time isnt a core memory, this is:

after 6 months of relative stability, i understandably hit a depressive episode in july. i would lie on my couch into the early morning for no reason. i wasnt trying to distract myself from his death ... there were no thoughts to be distracted from. it isnt a headspace i understand, especially since i never left it.

but for another unknown reason i thought to watch those mcr live shows. mind, at this point id only listened to three cheers. no exaggeration, i was betwitched by their performance. i most vibrantly remember gerard's eyes. crazy fucking eyes.

i'd forgotten cancer was an mcr song. when top released their cover, i listened to the original. i decided i liked twenty one pilots' more. i switched on that when i saw my chem on snl (i didnt watch BPID all the way through til a week later). it's the stripped down song, it's the direct lyrics, it's the crazy eyes. like he's trying to communicate EVERYTHING through his eyes.

the intro to BPID was like that too. when he ripped the hospital dress off and did the ghoul scream. had that feeling when i saw frank perform vampire money in glasgow. just. completely uninhibited. performace to say something truthful. unlike anything ive ever seen. from someone who wasnt very into music or live performance or theatre, much less the mechanics of it, i suddenly understood it all.

side bar, thinking about it now, my interest in pink floyd directly lead to my interest in mcr. early morning july 1st, this is what i was watching (alan parsons project great reccomendation from my friend bink bonk):

july 2 i was watching videos a friend of techno's publicized to commerate him. the mcr video was in the reccomended tag -- a combo of the live pink floyd video and the im not okay mv. crazy how influenced my life is by where youtube leads me.

then i saw a LITTLE bit of BPID before seeing my chem in 2022 for the first time. this was just weeks after bonn. i didnt watch the full eden either. but i did watch all of "welcome" at milton keynes, based on the time stamps

this whole fucking day spent watching mcr videos. reading 2011, zack sang clip frank iero explains reading 2011 drama, mcr iceberg explained, "mcr best perfomance", "mcr best moments", mcr on letterman, mcr snl, "understanding the black parade" (i had not listened to black parade) -- then i left at 4pm. probably to sleep.

july 2nd was The day. i remember while watching these videos a realization hugging me. i knew that i was struck. from july until november, the majority of my conversations had something to do with my chem.

at the very beginning, i texted people about them to gage modern attitudes. growing up, they were adjacent to bands i thought sold out or lost their spark -- panic!, twenty one pilot, fall out boy. as ive said a million times, there is a Reason i didnt get into my chem earlier. just the other day on a SPECIFICALLY EMO SUBREDDIT there were people talking about how they "weren't ashamed to like mcr". where does this shame come from!!!!!! too mainstream for punk, too punk for mainstream. everyone knows this.

well anyway, july 2nd was just the first layer: the performance. july 11 (/early july 12) was another big day. the second layer: gender and sexuality. literally my tags on the first mcr post i reblogged ->

then i saw the great collection by flockofdoves and. well.

same day i found out about "i wanna be your joey ramone" and sleater-kinney, though i wouldnt listen to the song for a short while. that's layer 4: branching out to other music.

layer 3 was music appreciation. i listened to each of their albums in full sequentionally (KIND OF since i relistened to bullets 3 times were i only listened to the others in full 2 times max), purposuefully holding off for weeks between each album. i remember the first time i sat down to listen to black parade. i was buzzing at like 12:30 am because id decided that was the night. the end -> dead rocked my whole world. never got the instinct to bang your head around til those songs. the whole album was fucking amazing but something aboout famous last words got to me. id be sitting in the car with my sister and singing the bridge over and over. the perfect string of words -- with words i thought id never speak: awake and unafraid, asleep or dead.

i used to hate live performances because the music sounded worse than the studio version while giving me nothing performance-wise. id never wanted to go to a concert in my life. but not only did they sound GOOD live, it was a whole different experience. an adaptation that added to the experience in ways entirely different to what is lost. like i said, crazy eyes. and smiles like flowers and the audience louder than the amps and movement led by sound and memory. like. like nothing else. you cant understand this unless youre in love -- completely dedicated to it.

sometime in august i discovered they were coming to my town the next month. the first concert i ever wanted to go to. my parents were a nightmare about it the whole month until i got the permission to go. ive said also said this a million times: it was like rapture.

i dont understand why you would want to do anything that doesnt work towards that same feeling. my parents didnt get that feeling and i couldnt go to another show. it's been months and it still drives me insane. it drives me fucking insane. it drives me insane.

so those are the core memories related to my chem that got me here. it's a lot of love. love so big i cant even hold. it's belief. something close to religious. it's a lot of fear too -- fear the feeling will go away, that i'll "wake up", fear that they'll be taken. one reason i dont like music is the feelings i attach to it are so profound that i cant listen to it without feeling what i felt in the past. it's why i limit how much i listen to my chem. that's another fear -- though i attach positive feelings to the band, im engaging in it while depressed. more than engaging, obsessing. i cant focus on much else.

i hope as i get better mentally, this doesnt leave me. i got into it to cope. it showed me another dimension of art and life and emotion. it's a hard thing to navigate. i want the good, healthy parts of this to be my life. i hope i can figure that out. i hope it works out.

growing up in perhaps the second most famous family in america was , in one word , overwhelming. haley was only six when the cameras entered their home and refused to leave , documenting every minute of every day and every tiny accomplishment. spending time with family became monetised. it became a competition , not just getting the attention from the cameras , but getting attention from their parents. she dedicated herself to music , learning to play the piano , take singing lessons ... but as she grew up , that wasn't enough. haley had always been a daddy's girl , but with the cameras coming in , the more often jonathan kennedy sr. could be found on the golf course. so she did too.

upon finishing high school , she was accepted into julliard to study musical theater , but before she could start , she was cast as zoe murphy in the original washington run of dear evan hansen and eventually on broadway. people shouted that it was a nepotism decision , but when the cast album released and nominations came rolling in for the musical , few critics could deny that she was talented. doing six shows a week in new york city , however , meant that she was barely home , and people started separating haley kennedy from the kennedy clan –– and she didn't mind it. 

after her run as zoe murphy in dear evan hansen , she took over the role of jenna in waitress. this is where she met her , soon to be long - term , boyfriend matt davenport. they dated for two years before moving in together in 2022 , when haley was painted green for the first time and took over elphaba in wicked. however , it wasn't the only thing that saw green. the attention she was getting , with his career stagnant , was souring the relationship. when they finally unpacked the final box in november 2022 , he proposed and she accepted.

as soon as they were engaged , however , he became controlling , wanting her to come straight home from performances and refusing to let her see friends. similar to the role she'd played in waitress , arguments became constant , matt laying hands on her on several occasions. covering bruises before she went to perform became a daily occurance and having stepped away from the family , she didn't dare reach out to them for help. matt announced her pregnancy on instagram in early march , at six weeks pregnant when no one but the two of them knew. 

not but a month later , reports came out that haley had been admitted to mount sinai hospital in the early hours of the morning , after paparazzi had caught the couple arguing on their way home. as soon as she was deemed fit to leave , she took the first flight back to los angeles.

Last Time on Hunter x Hunter

New HxH chapter is out but it’s been quiet at least among the fans I know... it seems because no one remembers what happened last time.  :P

Probably this would be a good time to go back to the HxH subreddit because I bet the redditors are loving this chapter dedicated to mafia flunkies fighting each other using absurd powers and are digging up their old reference charts and theories and putting them up on the wall like Pepe Silvia as we speak. 

(It’s Zhang Lei, BTW.  Zhang Lei will win the succession war.  And Sakata is the Silent Majority nen user, working directly for Zhang Lei or possibly for Onior on his behalf.  Although if 8th prince Lazurus won the succession war with the help of the Spiders that would be a pretty good plot twist.  You heard it here first!  )

I’m trying to stay focused on the local battlefield as a way to stay semi-calm. Kansas voters are in a unique position in red states in that they get a direct say on whether or not to protect abortion. August 2nd will have a vote on an anti-abortion amendment to the KS constitution. If the amendment fails, abortion will remain legal here. The Kansas Supreme Court ruled abortion is protected under the KS Constitution. So it’s either the amendment or nothing for the forced birth assholes. They can’t simply pass a law like other states have. This vote isn’t just important for Kansas. It’ll have major ramifications for the region. Missouri will ban all abortions. But if choice stays legal in Kansas, then the Kansas City metro will still have clinics available. Plus, it’s not a bad drive from Oklahoma City to Wichita, or from Omaha to KC. Polls show a majority of Kansans want abortion to remain legal. There’s a good chance we’ll win this one. Enough of a chance that I’m allowing myself to hope. Kansans for Constitutional Freedom is the main group organizing the “Vote NO” fight in Kansas. They’re a coalition of Democrats and Republicans, Planned Parenthood, ACLU, and other groups. If you have a few bucks to spare, please consider them.

...Ahem.  I haven’t checked the main tag or been on tumblr much in the last few weeks so forgive me if this is old news but... catching up on Hunter x Hunter and can’t believe that in the year of our lord 2022, we finally have canon confirmation that the Sheila conspiracy theorists were right all along!!! 

Sheila confirmed member of the OG phantom troupe!!  Also the book she gave little Kurapika and Pairo in the “Kurapika’s Memories” chapter, that inspired them to want to leave the tribe and attempt the Hunter exam, was probably “Dino Hunter” because it looks the same and Sheila only reads one book apparently.

The 80,000 warnings about the ao3 spambots on here are making me realize... do people on tumblr not know what an SEO scam is??????

Everyone warning each other to not click on the links... I mean yes this is just good internet advice, don’t click random spammy links, but if the point was trick you into clicking they would be doing a better job of pretending not to be bots, don’t you think?

The purpose of these comments is SEO optimization... just trying to increase their pagerank in search results on Google or Bing by making a lot of different pages link to them.  

These aren’t a big deal if they hit the accounts of active writers, who have plenty of tools to get rid of them.  The game is to hit the accounts of writers who aren’t  checking their emails, and won’t bother to log in / mark as spam.  Then the comments stay up and help with getting their links on early pages of search results or making them look more legitimate. 

Anyway here’s something for the AO3 engineering team to do - figure out where these bots are coming from and block the domain.  Since ao3 is mostly volunteer labor we just wait until someone’s free to work on it or the board votes to pay for it, though.

• Case in point, we're now off to another mall, and that's SM North Edsa (formerly known as SM City North Edsa). Before I attempt snapshots at Trinoma last Nov 27th, 2016, I went to SM North Edsa on Oct 24th, 2016 for doing what I do, then I went back again for late Christmas on Jan 5th of the following year (2017). And now, 6 years later (this time for real), their Christmas decorations are different compared to the 2017 version, where there's a Christmas train roaming the decorations? 🚂🎄⛄🎁🧸 Ah yeah, good times. 😌 Now in 2022, they have colorful cute bears, all Christmas brights, and a HUGE Christmas tree! 🎄🧸 💡 My paper dolls said that they want to go closer on the ramp, but I can't. I'm sorry. 😅 But hey, at least you'll appreciate that big Christmas Tree, right? 😊

Switch Rivals - Chapter 1/21

This is one of many archived fanfics featuring 1st and 2nd generation K-pop acts that I've come across recently. It's all in good fun, and maybe a bit cringeworthy! Just to clarify, I don't post fanfics, so I hope to the people that post and read K-pop fanfics makes sense. Credits go out to the original creator 90s_love.

This work is suitable for all audiences and draws inspiration from the fandoms of H.O.T. and SECHSKIES.

It features a diverse cast of characters, including Kim Jaeduck, An Seungho (Tony), Moon Heejoon, Jang Woohyuk, Ahn Chilhyun (Kangta), Lee Jaewon (H.O.T.), Eun Jiwon, Lee Jaijin, Kang Sunghoon, Ko Jiyong and Jang Suwon.

The story is enriched with themes of Body swap and Friendship, creating a captivating blend of fantasy and drama.

The work was published on November 26, 2021, completed on February 15, 2022, and consists of a total of 21 chapters.

Summary:

Modern version of the 90's kpop idol scene. H.O.T and Sechskies are forever rivals. But what will happen when one member from each team switch bodies?

Chapter 1: The start of it all

It's another day for H.O.T and Sechskies to have a showcase on the same day. The audience seats are packed with their fans each wearing white or yellow. The H.O.T and Sechskies members don't understand what's with the rivalry. They never met personally and there's no exact rivalry between them. The rivalry is just between their fans.

After the showcase, the members of each groups started to leave the broadcasting station. All who were left are Tony from H.O.T and Jaeduck from Sechskies. They stared at each other for a while before Tony begins to talk.

"Hi." he says awkwardly.

"Hi." Jaeduck also says awkwardly.

They never talked to each other because of the "rivalry" between their respective groups. But it's a first time for anything, so they started to have a conversation.

"So... How are things?" Tony asked.

"Things are good..." Jaeduck answered.

"How are your members doing?" Jaeduck asked.

"They're doing great." Tony answered. "How about your's?"

"They're doing great too." Jaeduck answered.

They talked for a while until it was late at night. They ended up going in Tony's car. Good thing no one notices them going into the car together. Otherwise, there would have been a riot. They left the brocasting station and Jaeduck showed the directions to his apartment. Tony then drived to the directions given to him. They kept going onto the bridge at the Han River and noticed a car right behind them. As the car came closer, they tried to get farther away. But the other car keeps catching up with them. The car then went beside them and it tried to push Tony's car to the side. 

"Hey! What are you doing?!" said Tony.

But there was no answer. The car kept pushing them. It was also stormy so it was more dangerous. After many attempts, the car almost went off the road. Tony and Jaeduck were worried about what will happen. The other car pushed them off the road into the river. Then, lighting flashed towards the water.

Wheeling Nailers Re-Sign Forward Tanner Laderoute

The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are excited to announce their 11th player signing of the 2023 offseason. Wheeling has re-signed forward Tanner Laderoute to an ECHL contract. Laderoute, 26, got his professional career started late in the 2022-23 season, after completing his five-year collegiate career at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Tanner made his debut on March 24th, and went on to suit up in 11 games with the Nailers. He was a frequent contributor to the offense, as he registered one goal, six assists, and seven points, and took at least one shot on goal in ten of 11 contests. Laderoute notched his first career point with an assist in his second game on March 25th against Reading, then turned on the red light for the first time the following week at Cincinnati on April 2nd. Tanner also posted a multi-point night on April 7th against Iowa. "Tanner won a National Championship and was a captain at Minnesota-Duluth," said Nailers Head Coach Derek Army. "He has a winning pedigree, which is something we value, as we work to build a championship team. He played very well in lots of situations for us last season." The Edmonton, Alberta native had an extremely decorated college career. February 19. 2023: Dear Friends, This blog will be the last blog of the current series on important people and events in the Bible. Focusing on familiar people and events that many have heard, or even read about in the Bible, broadens the understanding of what God is trying to teach to the reader and student of the Bible. Remember the more one reads and studies the Bible, the more one learns about God and his influences on people’s lives. Also keep in mind that the Bible is God’s Holy Word to its readers. In 2nd Timothy, chapter 3, verses 16-18, it is written “All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work.”

This series began on August 7,2022 and continued through November 13. 2022, after which time, because of the holidays, the series was placed on hold until   January 8, 2023.  At that time the series was restarted and has continued through today. If time allows, return to the beginning of the series on August 7, 2022, by going to keeganbooks.com. and review the series, blog by blog, to refresh and refine the knowledge that has been learned in this series. His birth  life, death, and resurrection, can be found in the first 4 books of the New Testament, the Gospel books, of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. With the coming of the Lent Season, beginning on Ash Wednesday, this week, consider reading 1 or 2 of the gospel books during Lent. Reading 1-2 chapters a day will provide so much information about Jesus. Jesus’ birth is recorded in Matthew, chapter 1, verses 18-25, and Luke chapter 2. Jesus’ life is recorded all through the Gospel books. The recording of Jesus’ death and resurrection can be found in Matthew, chapters 26, 27 and 28; Mark, chapters 14, verses 32 through chapter 16; Luke, chapter 22, verses 47 through chapters 23 and 24, and John, chapters 18 through chapter 21. The names and lives of Jesus’ 12 disciples can be found throughout the Gospel books. Refer to last week’s blog for names of the disciples and other important people written about in the New Testament. Next week, we will begin a series on Lent that will last until Easter. • Finally, we're back with my one last OC for the end day of October! 😁 And this right here is my 2nd HTF OC I made since debut in Feb of 2022 💘. 😊 This is 'Mayu' 🐇✨,a special Anthro jackalope critter who lives in the distant galaxy with a special T-shape metal object known as the 'Psycho-Frame', attaching on her wand and possessed new magical abilities 🟢🪄✨. We'll take a deep down about her and the 'Psycho-Frame', very soon. 😉 But, let's continue my story we're I left off. So once again, Mai herself won't be featured in her future HTF artworks, and she sold her precious adorable Mai via deviantART points to a new owner. Although, she helped me to send some of her points because 'TigerMcFlurry' sort of entrusted me, but to avail... 😟😔 I think, I know who's the new owner of 'Mai', but I decided not to track the unknown owner. As of this year, the unknown person remain 'confidential'. 🚫📂 So, what am I going to do now? 🤔 Well, I decided to inspired her lost HTF OC for the second time after I've made my first one. And thus, I created the inspiration to 'Mai'; and it might something of a long lost sister to the aforementioned 'Mai' herself, but I would rather choose 'no relation' line (similar to Buster & Babs Bunny from the Tiny Toon series). I show it to her, and she impressed my HTF OC 💚💙. So, I'm glad! 😊👍 Meanwhile, she's very fine celebrating her spooky festivity (as she's said about Halloween) with her pet Haro 'Hikari', and her oversized comfy clothing! 🌸👕👖🥰🤗 In which, she's the only clothing that she has on her advanced tech wardrobe, but I bet she'll be gifted by my OCs and other trustworthy/friendly OCs from the likes of my A-Pal 'Bryan360' and Carmenramcat/Shadowramcat. 😊 For now, though, she always sporting with her soft thick special robe and pants, with a touch of 'Fab Com with Expanded Formula'! 🌸🥰🤗

The Jayhawks have shared bills with so many great artists over the decades. Here are a few posters from some of those shows:

With Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - April 30, 1995 - Shoreline Amphitheatre - Mountain View, CA & May 1, 1995 - Cal Expo Amphitheatre - Sacramento, CA.

With The Sadies - November 14, 2003 - La Zona Rosa - Austin, TX. Over the next decade after this show, Gary Louris would work with The Sadies many times, producing and playing on their albums, and performing with them in concert (check out their fantastic In Concert Volume One 2006 live release). Sadly, Dallas Good from The Sadies passed away in February 2022. He will be greatly missed.

The "Mystery Demos" are a key part of early Jayhawks history. Over two sessions in 1992, Gary Louris and Mark Olson sat down and recorded stripped down versions of an amazing 44 original songs that were unreleased at the time. A few of these had been performed live by The Jayhawks in 1988-1992 but most had not. These essentially served as the earliest demos for what would become The Jayhawks landmark 1995 album Tomorrow The Green Grass. The 2011 2CD Legacy Edition of TTGG contained a whole disc featuring 18 of The Mystery Demos (now sadly out of print; the songs are available via streaming platforms). One of the key buried treasures was "Turn Your Pretty Name Around," which was eventually unearthed after Olson and Louris reconnected and started touring together in 2005. They performed it live and a studio version was recorded for the 2009 Olson/Louris album Ready For The Flood, along with several other Mystery Demo songs. Here's a lyric sheet circa 1993.

The bulk of this list consists of Mystery Demo songs. Several of these MD songs that weren't used for TTGG did finally see the official light of day on the TTGG reissue (marked by # below), although most remain unreleased.

-- Pictures (Pictures of the Family) -- Violets (She Picks the Violets, released later by Olson) # -- Won't Be Coming Home (released later by Golden Smog on Down By The Old Mainstream + a non-MD Jayhawks demo was released on the 2009 Music From the North Country compilation) # -- Berlin -- Follow Me Now -- Everywhere I Turned -- No Place # -- Scarlet Light -- Hold Me Close # -- 5 Cornered Blues (popped up again in 98/99; a couple of fascinating demos were cut, one of those was released on the 2014 Smile reissue) -- My Gospel (aka My Gospel Song For You, released later on Ready For the Flood) -- Rain Rain (aka Rain Fall a Little Harder) -- White Shell Road (released later by Golden Smog on Weird Tales) # -- 5 AM -- Whispering (aka Whisperin' You'll Do Right) -- Ranch House (aka Ranch House in Phoenix) # -- Beggars Lie -- First Wednesday

Many of these MD songs were demo-ed again in 1993 and 1994 in the long run up to TTGG.

Other notable rarities on this list: -- Mission (aka Mission on 2nd) & Stone Cold Mess (both released on the Music From the North Country) -- Mother Trust You to Walk to the Store & Warm River (pre-MD recordings of both were released on the Hollywood Town Hall reissue) -- Nightshade (aka Little Nightshade, a pre-MD demo was released on the 2003 Blue Earth reissue) -- Darling Today (showed up on the Blown Away soundtrack in 1994, on a European b-side in 1995 and also on Music From the North Country).

The band had a LOT of material to choose from during this time.

Various Jayhawks crossed paths in the teeming Minneapolis music scene in the years before the band formed while they were members of bands like Safety Last, Stagger Lee, Schnauzer, The Ranchtones and The Neglecters. That tradition continued into the early 90s. Here's a City Pages calendar listing for a June 1990 Jayhawks show at The Cabooze in Minneapolis. One of the openers is The Leatherwoods, recently arrived from Kansas, featuring future Jayhawk Tim O'Reagan. The Leatherwoods were short lived but put out a magnificent album in 1992 on Peter Jesperson's Medium Cool label, Topeka Oratorio, a true lost classic that is well worth searching out.

Note the reference to "Take Me With You (When You Go)," described here as a "paralyzing sobber" by long time Twin Cities music scene vet Jim Walsh. Many of the songs from Hollywood Town Hall were premiered live during 1990, but Take Me With You started showing up in Jayhawks setlists in late 1989, almost three years before its eventual release on HTH and one of the first songs from that album to be performed live.

Caroline had been struggling since Stefans death, she knew it was coming, but it still hurt her anyway. Elena and Damon were there living their life together, bonnie had Enzo and she was just.. Alone. Sure she had Alaric but that was a parenting situation. Now Josie and Lizzie were safe she could focus a lot better.

She’d been looking through old memories, photographs, letters. Things she’d kept over the years and this was a thing she’d done often. One particular letter, and drawing always stuck out to her. It’d been like Klaus was calling to her recently, but she’d never been brave enough to pick up the phone. Until tonight.

Alaric had the kids, Caroline was staying in her mothers house, her finger had been hovering over the “call” button for an extended amount of time.

Just do it Caroline.

What was the worst thing ? he wouldn’t pick up and she’d still be alone? sure she could deal with that, and so she hit the call button and waited.
