#lategram #TBT Chicago Marathon 2017 Always "extra" even when I don't mean to be. I saw the cameras and somehow I instinctively busted out a cheer pose. Hand on hip, other hand in full cheer wave, and probably yelled out something that sounded like "Go team". My sister looks at me like WTF?! Sister: "Was that a....." Sister & me simultaneously: "..cheerleading.." Me: "Don't ask." Been too long since my cheerleading days and yet as much as adulting has tried to suppress her that young, happy, peppy girl still finds a way to break through. It was definitely a different feeling running a marathon with no pressure, no time goals, & no real goal besides finishing. It was still hard and there were a few sucky moments but it felt good to feel relaxed enough to cheese it up for every camera I saw. GUESS WHO'S BACK? Okay, just kinda. First 20 miler of this training cycle. Finally! Most of this cycle has been a crapshoot. Still not fully recovered from the 50 miler in May. But I knew today was 20 or bust. If I couldn't take the miles there was no way #ChicagoMarathon was going to happen. I've been too much in my head these last few months. I had to shake all the negative away & get get my mental act together. First 14 miles with @inigo8a helped me get into a good grove & pace. Kept it together for the last 6 solo & finished with one of the best long run paces I've had all summer! Now for a smart taper & staying out of my head to keep it together come marathon Sunday. No big time goals but I want to give it all I can. I owe it to myself.
