Every year the great middle of autumn is vastly celebrated across the country and plenty of attractions are prepared for citizens and numerous tourists to enjoy.
In the National Folk Museum of Korea actors will be portraying traders from the time of Joseon Dynasty and while you are there, you may want to try your hand at traditional folk games. A Chuseok show will be held at Lotte World, where you will be able to see a samulnori performance as well as buchae dance. If you get hungry, the food stands will be offering broadly known rice cakes, among other delicacies you won’t want to miss out on. Bongeunsa Temple will be open for anyone wishing to participate in tea ceremonies.
In case you would like to feast your eyes on art from centuries ago, museums will have diverse exhibitions set out. Music enthusiasts can relish a free traditional music concert in Seoul Grand Park and the annual Drum Festival. Theaters’ repertoires will include time-honored plays with a breath of modernity.
Colorful installations will come alive in the evening at the Lantern Festival decorating Cheonggyecheon. At night you can board a ferry and delight in a cruise down the Han River. To admire the harvest moon in its full grace, you should head right to Namsan Seoul Tower Observatory — it has the best view!

Harvest - Juhyun
[Trigger Warning: Death] Juhyun was honestly exhausted after spending Chuseok with Young and his family. There was some initial tension at her being there but in her defense her family was gone. Young’s mother put her through the works . . .well when her son wasn’t around. Rather than complain or cuss her out which was the woman was hoping for Juhyun rose above it. This was annoying but not the HARDEST thing she had to do. If she could plow a field and harvest without machinery she certainly could get through this petty attempt to piss her off. Sometimes she wondered if the rumors from her teens made her numb to insults or when people tried to intimidate her. Not reacting seemed to piss the intimidater off even more but what could they do break her that didn’t involve actually laying a hand on her. Now that was an area she would rather not go, Juhyun may not look threatening but she remembered her police training in self-defense.
She could rest those thoughts for now since she was home. Well what was left of it. The young woman had to be careful to not be seen even if the town looked rather empty. Juhyun drove passed her old house, it was still boarded up with minimum signs of disarray. The idea of selling it and the land did cross her mind but when she found it would barely make a dent in the debt she decided against it. Plus it was collateral. Juhyun had quietly given permission to the other farmers to use the land to grow crops granted they kept the house somewhat in order. Her brothers grave was tucked a few feet back from the tree line in clearing before the woods. She could hear her brother complaining about how hot it was and her reply of that’s not going to cool things down. A bittersweet laugh came out of her mouth. The tree protected his stone from the elements and weeds, it was clearly weathered but holding up ok. Approaching Jaesung’s grave was sending her whole existence into panic mode. However he was the only family she had. . .that knew her without all the lies or fake imagery. She dropped to her knees tearing streaming down her face. It was a relief for her to not be “on” and calculating her next words or actions. Juhyun felt like she could show her emotions without being criticized for it. What if she stayed? She could, the house was hers and there was always something that needed to be done on the farm. Though that was just running away from her current problems. “Brother. . .I hold you’re resting well. Can you please. . .. watch over me?” she asked with her head hung low, “I might be strong. . .but you were always stronger. . . .” After a while her sadness left her and she was calm enough to clear his grave before leaving. She told herself she would come back in December to check on him. Juhyun was always in a festive mood for Christmas and she wasn’t going to leave her brother out of it.  Before she left she placed a hand on his tombstone as a way to say goodbye. . .for now.
