i think about ur piece with shadow captioned “welcome to the promised land” ALOT… with that, i wondered what your thoughts are on the sonic movies (both the ones that came out and the new one thats coming) in regards to their portrayal of the police/military/GUN.
I’m personally really disappointed in whats been done so far (with Tom being a cop, like cmon man what. and with the goofy portrayal of the military, especially that old general guy in the second movie) and im really nervous about whats coming, with team sonic working WITH GUN (and now Tom and Maddie wearing military uniforms) in the trailers. I have a suspicion that Maria’s death will be an “accident”, like a very MCU style “sometimes the military makes mistakes…” bullshit. itd really suck to see this series become another piece of copaganda, especially since like. its so out of character, like sonic is unique in the way its been blatantly anti military (for the most part) in the games. it wasn’t revolutionary by any means but it is arguably a core part of the original story.
What are your thoughts? sorry for the long ask, I’m a big fan of your writing and thoughts on sonic (huge heart of a monster fan!). Hope youre having a good day!
big same. I've made the comic in question as a response to the first trailer for sonic 3 actually.
the trailer made me feel a LOT of emotions, mostly negative if im honest, and the only thing that I liked from it was the scene of shadow bursting from his tank thing and being sloppin wet that looked like he was standing in the rain. so i went and made a comic of shadow in the rain. and i made it as anti military and anti capitalism as i could.
becasue sonic 3's marketing, in my opinion, especially after the second trailer came out, is a perfect axample of everything wrong with the current western (mostly USA, but the USA influences the entire world so.) society. it exemplifies capitalism, militarism, consumerism, a lack of emotional depth and the infantalization as well as mliking (for a lack of better word; i mean how advertizements are usually heavily marketed at kids because parents will buy anyhting to shut up their crying annoying meat bags and therefore spend money on shit they dont want nor need) of children (that detective pikachu bit was so painful). and let's not forget the fatphobia. it was so painful to go back and watch the first trailer to freshen my memory for this reply oh god.
when sonic 2 came out i was really happy with the movie. i think sonic 2 is miles better than 1 in terms of characters and fun, most obviously because there's more of actual sonic characters in it now then the first. the first felt mostly like a pilot honestly. the second one had much more fantastical details and elements thatreally leaned into sonic's world. Or at least... the environment artists tried with it. I remember being OBSESSED with the fact tehre was a mural of perfect chaos in that labyrinth for like 1 second and theorized about what it could mean. while watching the movie i even speculated it was foreshadowing that perfect chaos was gonna be the secret final boss of the movie as that was only the halfway point of the runtime. having sobered from the hype i understand its a neat detail from the cg department that means absolutely nothing.
the worst thing is that the movie (sonic 3 now) itself might be like. a well made movie with good (enough) writing and good visuals and whatever. sonic might betray the military and go his own way bc here he's a little younger and he's learning (he didnt grow up w military so he might be blissfull yunaware bc hes only been fed propaganda through hollywood movies so far) and him meeting shadow and learning about his fate might change his mind. we don't know yet.
The marketing sometimes is detatched from the movie itself so it'll misrepresent things for the sake of "bait" to get ppl to spend money to watch it (the teenage kraken movie suffered from that bc it was fun imo i liked it). Or even just to get people to make viral reactions to get even MORE news of the movie out and attract more people. Especially when adapting a story that already exists I think it makes them reveal a LOT of the movie (I saw ppl complain they reveal the entire movie in the trailer, i think given the fact we already know all those key moments shown it's fine)
actually. does anyone know if the us army funded this movie? i know it does a lot of movies ever since iron man
idek where im going w this rn im just. eghh.... def not gonna see it in cinema ♥ my money goes towards literally anything else

possibly one of the most important things you can do right now is accidentally engaged your older centrist coworkers about campus protests and remind them of either kent state and nelson mandela's imprisonment, which apparently they have completely forgotten about
#they also really react to 300+ bodies in one mass grave and the number of bloodlines eradicated. in case you need talking points#literally having a conversation with a woman who lived in san franciso in the 60s like CAMILLE. ITS A GENOCIDE. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PROTEST#truly just the mention of vietnam and theyre like. well ok there IS that....#2 seconds with me and im changing hearts and minds#and these ppl are retired state department employees!!! actually that might be the reason#txt

Ernest makes it to Cregan's solar first, Ron not far on his heels. Panting, the younger speaks up first when Cregan Stark shoots them a bewildered look whilst hunched over his oak desk.
"Was Lady Stark due for some business today, My Lord?" He asked, catching his breath as Cregan sat up in his seat, attention fully on the guards.
"Not any that I'm aware of. Where is my wife?" He asked, glancing outside of his small window to the blistering storm outside. There was no way she would be anywhere except her chambers—not after he caught her soothing Brandon to sleep. The sight had melted his heart immediately, glad to see his wife finally finding it in her to go see him, to give him a chance.
Though, he could not blame her, of course. He could still remember the day he brought the Stark babe home, and how he dreaded the meet throughout his months of journeying home to Winterfell.
Aelys had been on the forefront of his mind, even through the slimy politicking of King's Landing. The wait was only made ever longer by the fact that the party Cregan traveled North with had to wait until Brandon was old enough to travel, too. Moons went by painstakingly slow, and Cregan moved to load the carriage for the boy as soon as the Maester gave his word that Bran would not be suseptible to the outdoors during long durations on the road.
Cregan dismounted his grey mare, patting her on the neck in thanks before the stable boy guided her back to her designated place. With a tense sigh, he rolled his shoulders and opened the carriage door that held Brandon and his new wet nurse. Sara, his older sister, would join the family in a few short weeks while she continued her stay at the Blackwood's. He wished she was here to console his wife in the coming days. Gods know that he cannot, not when the news of his betrayal had to come from his own mouth. As he promised himself it should be. The sinner should say his own penance, no one else. A Stark is a slave to his oaths.
Thanking Greya kindly, Cregan picked up Bran in his arms. His onyx black curls shifted against the crook of his arm as he shifted the babe to be held better. The four moon-old babe fussed as he was removed from the woman's comforting hold. As if was, Cregan was more of a stranger to the young babe than his wet nurse was. Unfortunately, the Lord had not spent the amount of time with him as he knew he should have. The thoughts and guilt racked up in his mind and burned at the back of his throat every day, leaving Cregan to promise himself that in Winterfell he would spend more time with him.
Another promise for the list.
Cregan stepped through the courtyard's archway, holding his breath as he watched his beautiful wife standing by the Keep's doors, shivering but still insisting that she come out to meet her husband. Her smile was as lovely and bright as he remembered, a much more contented and relieved smile than she had sent him off to battle with. That day, she could hardly stifle her tears back as she hugged him 'goodbye'. He felt quite the same. Cregan would never leave for Southern business again, not in his lifetime. Once had been enough to last generations, though he was sure the Stark family would not go too long before being summoned again.
Her face shifted from joy to confusion in a matter of seconds. As Cregan continued straight towards her, Bran bundled up in so many wools and pelts that it entirely engulfed the babe. She lifted her skirts to step down to meet him. Originally, Cregan had wished to scoop her up in his arms and place a sweet kiss on her cold lips, but the bundle between them prevented such things. He could not greet her so sweetly and then present the bastard to her. Ripping the bandage off a fresh wound, Cregan would not be deceitful for longer than he had been during his moons of silence in the South.
"Husband," She smiled, reaching out to touch his chilled face, pink in the cheeks and ears from exposure. "You should come inside. A feast has been prepared for you—and your men, of course." She was antsy on her feet, eager to get inside to proper reunite with her husband, no bystanders gawking.
Speaking of bystanders—Cregan's entire party had separated and dispersed around the courtyard. They met their own wives, parents, or children as they laughed and conversed. Though, the loud and joyous clamor soon died down when whispers had been spread around by those who already knew of Cregan's boy. Wives that knew Aelys well stared in pity, clutching their shawls to their chests and shaking their heads quietly at their Lord.
He fought the urge to hang his head.
She had not yet seen the babe, only the cloth surrounding him.
"Cregan?" She whispered, tilting her head with concerned eyes. "What is wrong?" His sweet, sweet wife. Her first priority had been him over anything since the days of their honeymoon—the days she had confessed to be extremely anxious about during their courtship. She was a Northern woman herself, hardened and shaped like an ice sculpture but retaining her warm heart and spirit. Cregan had intimidated her greatly, according to her giggling confession, and she had feared he may be a cruel and selfish man since he could easily do as he wished to his Lady wife. He proved her wrong, apparently, getting to know his wife throughout their private honeymoon. They had a bond like no other, always at each other's side and filling in for the weaknesses of the other during their duties as leaders.
Cregan's brow furrowed deep, blinking away as he felt his nose start to sting.
Only then, when his glossy eyes met hers silently, did she glance down to the cloths. Slowly reaching up a shaky, gloved hand adjusted the pelts so she could peer past them. Gasping at the pale babe, Aelys' eyes sharply met his. A million thoughts raced through her head, clearly showing in her facial expressions. Not assuming the worst, as she probably should have done, Aelys asked, "has one of your men died? Is this babe an orphan?" Always so trusting of her Lord husband, something Cregan had admired and was eternally grateful for throughout their marriage.
"Aelys..." He cleared his throat when his voice came out much too quiet and hoarse. "This is my son." He declared to her, and to the onlooking crowd who did not bother hiding scandalized gasps.
Her eyes blinked in rapid succession, shaking her head lightly and smiling. "Don't jest, Cregan. We have no son."
His silence met her words. When he did not cave and admit to messing with his wife, Aelys shook her head more firmly. "No." She said, whispering. Her eyes clamped shut as she breathed in and out deeply, only opening to glance down at the babe, scrutinizing its appearing and comparing every freckle to Cregan's. "Don't do this to me, please. You would never do this to me." Her words were nearly lost to the air.
"It was one time, I swear it on my honor and Stark name." Cregan told her.
"On your name?" She harshly bit, stepping away from Cregan as if he had burned her. "Your honor? You swore on your honor the day we said our vows under the Weirwood tree. Under OUR Gods. Did that mean nothing to you? Did I—" She gasped out, covering her mouth with the back of her hand and clutching her stomach. A choking sob rippled through her, and Greya stepped forward to gingerly take Brandon from Cregan's grasp. His arms fell to his side, clenching as he stopped himself from holding his wife in comfort. She could find no solace in the man who hurt her so.
"I thought you wished to wait. You told me you wanted it, too. Was it just not me you wanted a family with?" She asked, cranking her neck up to look at her shameful husband.
"Aelys, I did—I do!" He started, stepping forward to wipe a hot tear from her cheek.
Flinching away from his touch, she looked up at him with the same mistrust and solemn acceptance that he found in a dying prey's eyes. Suddenly, Aelys looked to become aware of the crowd. Glancing around self-consciously, she straightened herself upright like the people expected of a Lady Stark. "The feast is growing cold. Enjoy it while it's warm." She loudly adressed the weary party and their families, who awkwardly moved to shuffle inside the dining hall. With a final glance past Cregan's shoulder to the wet nurse, Aelys was gone.
Seeing the shared glances of horror between the two, Cregan cleared his throat. "Where is my wife, boys?"
Ernest swallowed harshly, not daring to look him in the eye. "She—she said that she 'ad business in Winter Town. That you approved of it, I swear!"
Ron nodded so quickly that his head of curls messed about and framed his face further. The snow still on their heads and shoulders had now melted in the warmth of the Great Keep, reminding Cregan of the harsh weather the guards had to bear all day. They were trained and honed for such conditions, Aelys was not.
"Yes, Lord Stark! We couldn't disobey our Lady's words." He insisted.
"You think I'd make my wife go settle business in Winter Town during a blizzard?" He growled out, standing from his seat and storming between them to his doorway, where he turned on them and saw them both flinch in shock. "Which way did she go?"
"Uhm..." they shared another glance. "She said Winter Town, Lord Stark. What other way would she have gone?"
Cursing, Cregan grabbed Ice and lifted the great sword to his shoulder. He left without another word to anybody, knowing every second counted when it came to finding her. "Bloody fools." He scoffed to himself, mind turning and thinking of places she might head to.
Clearly, not Winter Town. She had no business there, not that he knew of, and although they had not been speaking these past moons he still oversaw all of her duties as Lady. Though, her reports of dealings and responsibilities was done through the Maester rather than her own mouth. A middleman, the poor elder had become. Cregan endured the silence without complaint, knowing his own actions brought it upon him.
His actions brought her further away from him than he perhaps estimated. He knew the babe would tear a rift in their relationship, and knew it would take a long time before they could even begin to mend it—but he never wanted it to go this far.
Back to her childhood home, to the Glovers in the Motte? Or, perhaps she found a secret lover that would meet her in the storm like a destined and tragic fairytale. He would not blame her for seeking love in another, though his never faded.
His quickened pace was only interrupted by Sara. "What is the rush for, brother?" The elder woman asked, dark brows furrowed with concern. Other the past four moons she had gained her strength back, looking the picture of health now that she was back home and recovering. Cregan could barely meet her gaze, looking between her and the doors ahead.
"My wife is gone." He told her honestly, shifting impaitiently in place. "I don't know where to, but I'm going to search for her."
Sara's dark eyes saddened, face scrunching up in grief. "This is my fault. I should have—"
Cregan stopped her immediately, taking her firmly by the shoulders and dipping his neck down to level himself. "No. It is mine alone. I made the choice to do this, I shall face the consequences of my actions."
"Cregan..." she sniffed, but did not allow tears to fall so easily.
"I'll be back." He promised. "With my wife."
Was she running away?
Cregan swung open the Great Keep's door, blinking staggardly at the wind gust that slammed into him. Not bothing to close it behind him, Cregan stormed to the stables and tacked his horse up. In a matter of minutes he was off and out of Winterfell's expansive walls.
His only option was to head towards Glover territory. It was a two days ride normally, but the storm would make it double or perhaps longer. She would not be far ahead, not even two hours ahead of Cregan and unknowing of how close he might be on her trail.
There were not even hoofprints left in her wake. The snow immediately covered all tracks and left only pristine fields of white powdery frost.
He would not know where she was until he spotted her amongst the white. Cobalt, her black stallion, was sure to stand out within close enough distance.
Until he did see her, he could only wait.
And it was exactly that; a waiting game. Cregan took only three days to reach the Deepwood Motte, faster than he anticipated. He was weary and exhausted, but still pumping with adrenaline and awake off sheer will. Here, in the safe walls of Harriston Glover's keep, his mare could finally have more than a few measly hours of rest, as well as food and water.
His fingers and toes burned with the edges of frostbite. Even in his thick protective gear, he was not entirely safe. The few, small fires that he built for himself in the cold nights gave him only a semblance of warmth. Each step felt like five as his vision blurred and weaned in and out. He steadied himself on a pole, waiting for his father-in-law to come downstairs to greet him. And, if luck be on his side, his Lady wife.
He owed more than an apology.
Harriston was a stern man, though not unreasonable. He loved his children and ensured they had only the best; education, caretakers, spouses. His eldest two children married long before Aelys was even of age to be wed, both men marrying Northern girls that they'd grown up with. When it came to his youngest and only girl, the man knew Lord Stark would be a most auspicious match. The Houses had long been friends and allies, and keeping the tradition of partnership thriving through marriage was no strange thing. He'd been even happier when Aelys wrote to him weekly, describing how enchanted she had been with her new husband and thanking him profusely for giving her a blessed match.
Now, the greyed man stood in front of Cregan with a deepset frown and a fierce look in his eyes. "Lord Stark. I thought you'd be busy in Winterfell."
Cregan cleared his throat, focusing on him intently. It made sense that the man was cross with him, especially after he assumed that Aelys had sent him a few lengthy letters telling of Cregan's infidelity. "I came to see my wife, and to bring her back home."
Harriston huffed a sarcastic laugh. "You send her back home, only to come yourself first?" He gestured around with his arms up.
Cregan tensed, "first? Is Aelys not already here?"
Lord Glover matched in his seriousness. "Aelys wrote to me three days ago, informing me that you had sent her here to be away from danger."
"I did not send her anywhere."
"You mean you do not know where my daughter is?" He asked, voice low and firm as he stepped closer. Though Harriston was a fine swordsman and a battle-worn fighter, Cregan did not fear the Lord's wrath, for he could easily best him in combat.
He did, however, have the brains to fear a furious father's vengeance.
His heart nearly beat out of his chest. "And she stated that she was on her way here?"
"I think I know what she said, boy." Lord Glover hissed. "Where is Aelys?"
"She must still be out there," Cregan murmured breathlessly, turning on his heel and running out of the fort's doors and back out to the stables. Cobalt was in none of them, confirmed to him that Lord Glover was not simply lying and hiding his wife away from him.
Cregan decided to take another horse—one well rested and ready to travel in the packed snow, unlike his own weary mare. Guiding it to the doors where Lord Glover had exited and looked at Cregan with a fear unlike the learned man usually expressed, he asked: Where are the kennels?"
When Aelys left to brave the storm alone, she had not anticipated the sheer unforgivable nature of it. Living in the North her whole life, she'd long grown used to cold weather and hunting for herself. Hunts often lasted days or weeks, being times of comraderie and companionship when out in the wilderness with your people. She had not been hunting in years, much less alone.
The snow had slowed her travel significantly and clouded her navigational judgment. North became South, and East became West after so long of walking. With the skies so darkened, it was even harder to tell the time of day. With every stop she made and every fire that burnt out too quickly for her to be fully warm, Aelys had grown desperate.
She found shelter in a half-conscious act to preserve her on life. Now, curled up with only her fur-lined dress and the pelt she had brought from Winterfell, she could not help but begin to accept that she would die in this cave.
Aelys thought of her life in a few curt thoughts.
She had only lived twenty and two years. She grew up with loving parents and two elder brothers who doted on her greatly. She married Lord Stark of Winterfell, someone who took her heart quicker than she'd ever thought possible. She would die here, alone and cold because of him.
She thought of all the things she had wanted from life. Not much, for a Lord's daughter. Aelys had always wanted love and gave love in return. Trusted perhaps too much and did not gain from it. She wished for children, eventually, and could never have them now. She wished to see the warm deserts of Dorne and the lush gardens of Old Town in her retirement.
Aelys Bolton would not see anything but the North, nothing but the cold snow and frost-tippes trees around. They had grown familiar and warm.
Warm.
She was so warm, now.
Aelys closed her eyes and fell asleep, dreaming of better days.
"You do not wish to return home to a babe in the nursery?" Aelys asked, voice low and humming as Cregan lay beneath her on their shared bed. Most men did, misliking the process of pregnacy but loving the outcome, for it could only serve to benefit them.
"We will have plenty of time for babes when I come back to you." He replied, brushing his lips over her the crown of her head. "What kind of husband would I be if I left you to deal with the struggles of pregnancy and birth all alone?"
"I won't be alone. Sara is staying, too. I will have a sister to keep me company and complain all my grievances about my missing husband to her." She said amusedly.
Cregan paused in his rhythmic stoking of her spine. "Sara has asked to come, my heart."
She paused, too, lifting her head from his chest and squinting at him. "Sara can come down to King's Landing with you, but I cannot?"
He sighed, shaking his head. "She will be staying at the Blackwood's residence at Raventree Hall, not King's Landing. I would never endanger either of you by bringing you to the capitol. She has been offered guest housing by her friend, Alysanne Blackwood, during my time down there."
She huffed, conceding to his words and dropping her head back down, listening again to his ever-steady heartbeat. "Must be nice to see the Riverlands." She said lightly. "I hear they have fields of flowers growing year-round."
"And the permanent smell of fish and mildew." Cregan added with a snort. "You're not missing anything, I swear it to you. Sara and I will be gone for a short period of time. I intend to leave as soon as things are settled and put to rest."
Aelys hummed her quiet acknowledgment. There was no argument to be had, not when Cregan was set to leave in the morning. "There must always be a Stark in Winterfell." She said cheekily, though there was plenty truth to the statement. Alone, she would serve as political head to Winterfell and the temporary 'Warden' while Cregan was missing in action. She had her advisors, consisting of Cregan's trusted councilmen, but the hole that she knew would sink itself into her heart already wore her into her.
Cregan laughed at her words, nodding. "Aye, my love, you will do perfectly. I'm sorry to leave you alone for so long, but I have no doubt you'll do great." He said proudly, kissing her nose. She scrunched it up at the ticklish feeling, allowing a girlish giggle to leave her throat.
"Don't be gone too long, husband. Your wife needs you here." She said, tilting her head up to meet his lips.
"I would never dream of it."
The moons passed by with no reprieve for Aelys. As Winterfell's sole head, her days were busy from dawn til dusk. Letters were exchanged sporadically with her husband while he helped Aegon iii ascend to his place on the iron throne.
Until, one day, his letters ceased. It had already been a full year without Cregan Stark, and Aelys was beginning to grow used to the lack of her husband and sister by her side. Routine had grown to be instinct for her, breezing through her duties like she'd done them all her life. The only thing missing was her lover.
Concerned, Aelys checked in with the resident Maester to ensure Cregan's wellbeing.
When he paused, lips pursed and hands clutching at his cane with a stress unlike the calm elder, he rasped out his own fears. "I, too, have received no word from Lord Stark. Though, no news has come of us death in the capitol, so he must simply be occupied."
Occupied at the end of the war? When Aegon had already been named King and all the men put to trial were either declared guilty or innocent? The brunt of the work was over and done with—told by Cregan himself.
So why was he silent for an entire moon?
It was another fortnite before the Stark wrote back to her. The letter was curt and brief.
My dearest Aelys,
Forgive my abrupt silence these past weeks. Please know that you have been on my mind throughout this entire time.
Sara has grown sick in Raventree Hall, and has not been able to travel with the host of men I have sent back home to the North. We will stay behind for another few moons while she is in recovery. I will return to you soon.
With love,
Cregan Stark.
It was shorter than his other letters by many paragraphs, pages even. Cregan left out no details when describing his miserable times in the capitol. Aelys found herself much enjoying his theatrical melodramatic retelling and was rendered bemused by this letter. Still, she continued to lead with no pause for breaks.
Three more moons later, and Cregan wrote that he was mere days away from Winterfell. Without Sara Snow, unfortunately, as she was still not entirely recovered, but his party could be postponed no longer.
Aelys rushed around Winterfell's Keep in a flurry of excitement. She ordered every room to be cleaned spotless, for rations to be saved for days until a feast could be made for their arrival, for hearths to be extra tended to, and for the courtyard to be prepared to clear the way for the host.
Finally, the days of busy bodies floating around the Great Keep came to a stop. The feast was warm and ready at all available tables. The hearths were warm and ready for sleepy heads to rest within the rooms. The tubs were filled with scalding hot water that would warm by the time they were used. Lady Stark stood for hours at the Great Keep's entry stairs in the courtyard.
She wanted to be there exactly when he walked through the archway. Despite the cold biting at her nose, the Lady stood resiliant and tall.
It was nearly in the afternoon when Cregan's party arrived. He came through first, leading as head of the host as any Lord should. A wheelhouse followed, surrounded by a small league of soliders all around it. She bounced on her heels slightly, seeing Cregan dismount from his ride. Though she found herself bemused and slightly hurt when he glanced at her and made his way towards the wheelhouse instead. Had Sara recovered enough to join and perhaps wanted to surprise her good sister? She hoped so, for she had missed her greatly. After growing up with only brothers, Aelys found a best friend and sister in Sara Snow. The whispers about Lady Stark befriending the bastard of Winterfell followed her around like a dark shadow, but she never paid them any mind.
Bastardry had never bothered Aelys before. Not even when she was a woman of noble birth and was taught that bastards were born inherently lustful, evil, and made of sin.
She waited patiently at the top of the steps for Cregan to fetch Sara.
To her surprise, he only pulled out of the carriage with a bundle of clothes in his arms. Pelts and blankets, it seemed. A plainly-dressed woman from the South stepped out after him but stayed trailing behind. A maid of some sort, though she had no clue as to why a Southern maid would need to follow Cregan back to Winterfell.
As he strided towards her, a strange and unhappy look on his face, she forced her anxiety back down her throat and raced to meet him. "Husband," she greeted with a smile. "You should come inside. A feast has been prepared for you—and your men, of course." Reaching out to caress his face and simultaneously brush flecks of snow from his loose hair, she couldn't help but stop to admire her husband's handsome features. It had felt like an eternity that they were separated, and she had begun to forget the full details of his frame. Forgot his scent in the room and his side of the bed. Nearly forgot the warmth that he provided simply from standing nearby.
The very warmth he is giving to her now, in the chilly courtyard.
His eyes appeared to gloss, his nose and cheeks pinking even more so than they had already grown in the biting air. Glancing over Cregan, she assessed quickly for signs of fatigue or illness.
"Cregan?" she asked gently. "What is wrong?" She prayed he did not catch whatever Sara had caught, or hid a wound under his mass of leathers and pelts.
When he shiftly lifted the bundle in his arms to gesture for her to look at it, she finally spared a look to the mysterious ball of cloth. She had completely forgotten about it until now, noticing the maid still behind Cregan a few yards back, head tilted down and looking at her slippers. Peeking over a fur pelt, Aelys gasped at the sight. A babe, only a few moons old by the looks of it. Her mind raced with possibilities. Why would Cregan bring a babe back instead of leaving it in more temperate climates like the Riverlands that he stayed in on the way up North?
"Has one of your men died?" She asked in a hushed tone, assuming first that one of his soldiers perhaps fathered a bastard babe before perishing in a battle or falling to sickness. "Is the babe an orphan?" Cregan did always have a soft spot for younglings, showcased clearly by his time spent personally training young squires of Winterfell. He had lost his own younger brother in their youth, and the hole had never filled from that loss of kin.
"Aelys..." he started, meeting her eyes with a soft and sympathetic look. "This is my son." Was said loud and clear for any listeners to hear.
A jest. Cregan had seldom liked to be humorous in front of crowds, or anyone but herself and Sara, but he must have been in good spirits today. Briefly glancing at the surrounding people, she found only pitiful looks from the women and severe looks from the men. Shaking her head, Aelys forced a smile onto her face and a shaky laugh. "Don't jest, Cregan. We have no son." She emphasized.
He only stared at her back. No words of comfort, no sudden burst of laughter among his men to tell her that the biggest prank in the world had been pulled on her. Just shameless silence.
He had declared her second best in front of all of Winterfell. Her people and his.
"No." She said firmly, shaking her head 'no'. She breathed in and out deeply, trying to clear her blurry eyes and woozy head. Glaring down at the false babe in his arms, she found many similarities that she wished she had not. The same straight brows that Cregan had, the same scattered freckles, the same pale skin. The only difference was the hair color—black as a midnight sky or dragonglass. The mother must be beautiful.
Moving her eyes to the maid behind Cregan, she found that the girl had a mousy blonde color to her tresses. She could not have possibly bore a black-haired babe. She felt sick, like she'd throw up and choke at the same time. "Don't do this to me. You'd never do this to me." She pleaded out, voice small and hoarse.
"It was one time. I swear it on my honor and Stark name." Cregan promised. But every word was like poison, filling her heart with a heavy black liquid and drowning her from the inside out.
"On your name?" She hissed out, uncaring of the onlookers for this one moment. She was allowed to be angry, callous, and spiteful, even. Any self-respecting woman would be. And she'd be damned if she wasn't. Any Stark woman ought to be when ruling over the entire North. Any Glover woman is.
"Your honor? You swore on your honor the day we said our vows under the Weirwood tree. Under OUR Gods! Did that mean nothing to you? Did I—?" Words spilled from her mouth before she can think properly. But she did not regret any of them, knowing she was in the right. Bile rose in her throat, pushing itself past the forced down emotions. She swiftly covered her mouth, stilling herself to prevent any more embarrassing. Subconsciously, she clutched at her empty stomach with her free hand, both mourning the fact that she'd have no children and thanking the Gods for not giving her any previously. A cry finally escaped her lips, watching the plain maid take the babe into her arms again as Cregan looked on helplessly to his wife.
Aelys found her voice again, though it was ragged and tired. "I thought you wished to wait. You told me you wanted it, too." He was a liar, the worst kind of man. "Was it just not me you wanted a family with?"
She'd rather be struck with his hand than his deceitful mouth. It would hurt much less.
"I did, Aelys—I do!" He pleaded, stepping forward to console her. His arms looked like steel traps in her louded mind.
She took a lengthy step back. She would not share his warmth, nor his love. Or his bed, his room, his damned dining room. His children. Not when he had shared it with another woman. Given her his love, his attention, his son.
She could not bear to keep herself calm any longer. Adressing the entire courtyard, who had made themselves the Stark's own personal peanut gallery, she spoke firmly. "The feast is growing cold. Enjoy it while it's warm." Without a second glance back at the Stark, Aelys excused herself to her chambers, where she emptied the contents of her stomach into the chamberpot until she could only dry-heave nothingness. These chambers had not been used since she arrived in Winterfell, instead choosing to sleep and stay in their marital ones. She would not step foot into those again unless she was dragged kicking and screaming.
Aelys awoke to strong arms lifting her from the stone floor. Groggily, she was stirred from her deep and preserving sleep. How long had she been traveling? How long had she been buried under those pelts? Time was a blur when she was in a near comatose state, dead to the world. Limbs were numbed and her body felt warm after so long in the cold weather.
"I've got you, sweet girl. We're going home." A familiar voice rung in the back of her head. Even the jolting movements of a horse trotting could not fully move her to consciousness as she fell back asleep.
When she fully gained her sense of mind, she could clearly hear the sound of two men arguing. The warmth of a hearth was next to her as she lifted heavy blankets and furs off of her body. Glancing around, Aelys found herself back right where it all started. In Cregan's room, formerly their marital chambers that she had long since moved out of. A large oil painting sat over the heart, depicting a newlywed image of her and Cregan. They both smiled brightly in the photo, much to Cregan's complaint that the painting did not make him look 'serious enough'. She only laughed and tipped the painter extra gold dragons for the accuracy.
She loved that painting more than any others they kept in the Great Keep. Now, the two faces looking down at her only served to remind her of the falsehood she lived every day while Cregan was absent. Taking care of Winterfell and the North all by herself, just to come back and be thanked by his uncouth mistakes.
Shakily standing up, she winced at the feeling coming back to her limbs. Wriggling all twenty of her toes and fingers, she ensured they still all had feeling. Miraculously, she did. The numbess still felt vaguely there, and her throat was extremely dry and achy. But at least she was alive. Even if it was back in Winterfell, she could attempt her return to the Motte as soon as the storm died down.
It had been a dreadful blizzard. Not a rare sight in the North, but usually none lasted so long. Aelys could not help but feel it was the Gods punish Cregan and Aelys for their marital spat. Something like this must be so futile and useless in their eyes and the eyes of the people of the realm, but to Aelys it was her world and her life. No one could help Aelys but herself. She'd leave these spoiled halls even if the Old Gods and the New wished otherwise. If Cregan didn't have to keep oaths, why should she?
Opening the large wooden door, Aelys found the source of the faint yelling. Her eyes widened at the sight of her father in front of Cregan, in all his gruff charm with his silver hair and beard. She hadn't seen him in nearly two years. She stayed at the archway under the door, simply listening in as the men shouted further down the hall. If either turned their heads, they would spot her eavesdropping.
"—cannot even keep her safe during Winter! Am I to expect her to stay safe during a wildling attack, or worse? Or will you be prioritizing the safety of your mistress?" Harriston shouted, veins nearly popping out from his forehead and neck in his fury. Snow still gathered on his pelt coat, meaning he had just arrived recently.
"It is my mistake that she was endangered out there—but I would never let such a thing happen again under my protection. This is her home, I cannot allow her to go back to the Dreadfort. She is a Stark." Cregan emphasized, though had a defensive raised tone.
"Was she a Stark when you bed a whore in King's Landing?"
"The situation is more complicated than that." He responded, clenching his jaw.
"Nothing could ever be more complicated than losing your wit at a brothel, Stark. There is no argument to be had. She is staying with her family, where she was intending." Harriston growled out, a tone of finality to his tone. As he swung on his feet to head down the hall, face set in a worried and seething anger, he finally spotted his daughter.
"Aelys!" He yelled in relief, rushing toward her and scooping her up into his thick arms. "We're going home immediately. We will wash our hands of the Starks once and for all."
"I will not allow that." Cregan spoke from behind. As Aelys hugged her father back just as tightly, it was a battle to keep her tears from flowing in his safe arms. She missed her father more than she knew.
Before Harristone could speak, Aelys nodded. "We will settle this." She said flatly. Her father hesitantly let her go, nodding once firmly after seeing the resolve in his daughter's eyes.
"Very well. I will wait in the dining hall for you." He sighed, walking away.
Aelys shivered in the loss of warmth again. In her bare feet and night gown, she felt the cold of the cobblestone walls and floors start to seep under her skin again. "Here," Cregan murmured, gently shifting his mass of brown wolf pelt over her shoulders and clicking the direwolf emblem into place.
She allowed it, though she did not thank him with words. She took a deep breath, looking him in the eyes. "I want to separate. Divorce, I mean." She said tiredly.
Cregan flinched, jaw ticking and heavily considering her words. "That is entirely my fault. It is in your right to ask that of me." He said, voice dimmed and not nearly half of his assuredness. "But please, hear me out."
"What could I possibly hear you out with?" She asked, exhaustion clear in her tone. She'd dealt with this situation long enough.
Cregan nudged the door back open, nodding for her to enter. Reluctantly, she led the way in and watched as he gently shut it behind them. "I swore an oath, nearly nine moons ago." Cregan started.
Her brows furrowed, bemused. "To whom?"
Guiltily, he looked down at her, looking much alike to a kicked pup. "My sister."
"To Sara? What ever for?" She grew frustrated, knowing he was beating around the bush.
Taking a deep breath, he told her everything. "Sara stayed with her friend Alysanne Blackwood in Raventree hall for the entire time I was aiding King Aegon. In that time—she fell pregnant."
Aelys' heart dropped to her stomach. The same sick feeling overtaking her. She did not say a word.
"Davos Blackwood and Sara had built a bond, much like we did." He said. "When she told Davos of the news, they both went to Lord Blackwood to plea to marry each other. He refused, not allowing his heir to marry a bastard."
"And you legitimized Brandon as your own in turn?" She hissed.
"Sara begged me to. She lived her life as a bastard—she did not wish the same for her own son. I swore to her that my nephew would never be allowed the same treatment. I knew Aegon would do it." He trailed.
"So you bring him home, and humiliate me instead? You didn't even tell me, your own wife! You chose Sara over me. She is your sister, I know, but she chose to be with Davos Blackwood." She could have taken a tea, or moved to Essos or Dorne where bastards were more accepted. There were other options, but neither Sara nor Cregan used them. "That is cruel, Cregan. It is heartless." She cried.
"I never wished to hurt you, I only wanted to protect her. It was my oath." Cregan pleaded, grabbing her hands in his.
She shivered again, though unknowing if it was in chill or her own anger. Part of her was happy that he never truly took another woman to bed—never picked another other her. Though he still hid the biggest secret in the world from her for moons. Allowed her to suffer in their shared home and withstand the pitious looks of the people and court.
"I can't trust you. Not ever again. You could not trust me with your own kin's truth, and punished me for it." She stated. She could not allow herself to cave in so easily, to fall back into his arms.
"I understand, sweet girl." He muttered, softly stroking the apple of her cheek almost mindlessly. "I will sign whatever the Maester's conjure up. You will be free to marry whoever you wish—someone who will not lie to you."
The Starks were known for their loyalty and devotedness to their oaths. If Cregan Stark had lied to his wife so easily, no lesser man could ever make her happy with faithfulness and loyalty. Aelys had accepted her life to be one of loneliness from the day Brandon was allowed into the home.
"I will stay in Deepwood Motte for the time being. From there, I will see where my path leads." She said vaguely, unknowing now of what her heart desired. "Wish Sara well for me." Aelys asked of him, leaving him behind as she wiped any straying tears from her face.
"I love you, Aelys." He said, calling softly after her.
"I know." She whispered to herself.
In the dining hall, Harriston awaited her arrival. Perking up when she entered, he knowingly took her into his arms. "I'm tired, father."
"Let's go home. Your mother has missed you dearly." He said, planting a fatherly kiss to her temple.
Aelys would not yet send word for a formal separation to the Citadel or to the King. For now, time apart was what she declared best for herself.

ending is ambiguous. Will she decide to divorce or eventually mend their relationship? Up to you!
might make an alt ending where he really is just a shitty guy but this had been my idea from the start (many guessed it and i could not reply to them because of it lmao)
sorry if those two scenes got repetitive, but I wanted to show the 'cregan bringing brandon home' from both of their more detailed perspectives. Cregan's shame and guilt and her humiliation and heartbreak.
so many people guessed so close (to the sara part at least) only saw Jace thoughts tho, but he's already dead long before Cregan's walk down to the South. Would have been much more dramatic, but I think Jace would never allow a child of his to be apart from him. Many people swayed me to lead them to separate instead of stick together, and it does make more sense to have her leave him in the end. Although he did not cheat he still lied and publicly humiliated her, even unintentionally, but he's a grown man who is smart enough to know consequences.

STARTED OUT WITH A KISS, HOW DID IT END UP LIKE THIS?
✸ pairing: rockstar! percy jackson x ballerina! reader
✸ synopsis: after months of sneaking around behind the media’s backs, you and your boyfriend make your relationship public!
✸ warnings: not proofread. like, at all.
✸ notes: hey so im alive btw…. so here’s pt.2 to could you make it any more obvious?
“are you sure you want to do this?”
you asked the question for the millionth time, finger hovering over the bright blue button on your phone screen, identical to the one percy was eager to press.
the two of you sat together with phones in hand, seconds away from making instagram posts that would launch your relationship to the public after months of sneaking around. even though you’d already been caught once or twice…
“sweetheart, how many times do i have to tell you yes until you believe me?” percy chuckled, looking at you with those kind eyes of his.
this was his idea, for crying out loud. you knew that the media would eat it right up, with the two of you confirming their month-long suspicions and dating rumors.
that being said, you also knew that there’d be a lot more backlash from his fans than yours. who cares if a popular ballerina got a boyfriend, right?
but a eligible, hot, bachelor rockstar that had millions of fangirls all around the world?
oh, you were totally in for it.
one of the great things about percy was that he seemed to not only have great musical talent, but also the ability to read your mind.
“look, i can’t promise you that making everything public will be easy, though i think not having to sneak around definitely will,” a laugh out of both him and you. “but what i can promise is that whatever happens, we’ll deal with it together.”
that paired with a reassuring squeeze to your leg drew a smile right onto your face. you took a deep breath, reassured that no matter what happened, you still had him.
“okay,” you nodded, skimming over your Instagram caption one last time. “i’m ready.”
“on the count of three?” percy asked, holding his phone directly beside yours.
“one…”
“two…”
“three.”
together, you clicked post and watched as the upload line chased the edge of the screen until finally, it was public. everything was public.
dropping his phone on the couch, percy wrapped his arms around your abdomen and squeezed, pulling you from the cushions until you landed in his lap.
with a shriek of surprise followed by a fit of laughter from you both, you held his face in your hands, grinning at it another like two idiots in love, which you were.
“alright, swan lake,” he smiled, face close to yours. “everything just changed.”
“i don’t think so, not really,” you shrugged. “i’m still me. we’re still us. only difference is now we don’t have to go sneaking down alleys to avoid people.”
“always a bright side with you,” your boyfriend swooned at the mere sight and sound of you, his eyes filled with nothing but adoration and love. you could’ve sworn you saw hearts in his eyes.
“well, you are mr. brightside.”
that reference to one of his songs was all it took. percy leaned back into the couch cushions, pulled you with him, and kissed you so good that it didn’t matter what anyone commented on social media.

IN PERFECT SYNC [j.jh smau]
betrayal [noun] /bɪˈtreɪ.əl/
1 : the act of dissapointing a persons trust, hopes or expectations.
2 : revelation of something hidden or secret.
3 : failure to keep or honour a promise, principle or cherished memory, etc.
twelve — betrayal. wc: 1k
café neoro. 4:14pm
if you were to say you weren’t confused by the sudden cafe invitation, you’d be lying.
as you enter the front door, triggering the cafe’s bell to ring, you spot giselle sat in the far corner, biting her nails; a habit she does only when she’s dreading something.
that’s weird.
she spots you, dropping her hands to the table and nodding you over to come and sit with her.
“you’re here!” she squeals, “you’re here..”
the atmosphere is strange, you must admit and there’s something odd lining the air between you. so you begin to drone on about your class in efforts to ease off the weirdness.
“urg, im so sick of my professor just constantly leaving the hall. im literally paying to be here and he can’t even be bothered to stay!” you whine as you set your bag down beside you, sitting opposite giselle on the cafes patchwork coach.
it’s a cute little place, you and the girls come here often to catch up when you don’t see eachother for periods of time in exam season.
but for giselle to ask you here alone? when neither of you have exams for months?
there was something going on.
“honestly, i wish my professor would leave sometimes.” she replies. “she’s so boring!”
you laugh, spending the next 20 minutes complaining about your courses and gossiping about overheard conversations.
that’s until you decide to bring up giselle’s absence from the party the other night.
“where did you even go?!” you ask, too excited for your own good. but you know giselle.
and you know she’s forcing her smile.
“oh, just some room upstairs, no idea who’s. could have been chenles for all i know.” she laughed.
you take a sip of your coffee as you laugh in reply, winking at her jokingly. “so, who was the guy? was he good at yk… that stuff..”
she giggles as she nods. but her smile withers.
“look, yn.”
the sudden change of atmosphere brings you right back to the feeling of the beginning of your meet-up, the cold, stark vibe of something being wrong, of something eating away at whatever is between you.
“i told myself that i should be honest with you, so i will.” she continues.
“what is it, giselle? you’re scaring me.”
she’s silent for a moment.
the silence kills.
but you soon find out that it isn’t the silence that is killing you, its the thought that in these mere seconds, giselle is counting down the moments until she tells you who it is.
until she knowingly breaks your heart.
“it was jaehyun. the guy i slept with was jaehyun.”
your mind feels heavy, unattached even.
how could she do this? after everything you went through. she was the one who was there the entire time, she was the one who comforted you, telling you how he was in the wrong and how he deserved the worst kind of punishment for what he did.
and yet, in the end, she must have never truly believed it. because now she has betrayed your trust.
and she has betrayed you.
“what?” you can feel your vision going foggy, tears welling up in your eyes.
“i know, i know. i shouldn’t have, but can you really blame me?”
“yes!” you raise your voice, and your thankful that the cafe is near empty. “giselle…”
there’s a pause of silence as she lets you figure out what you want to say.
but you continue. “you know what he did to me. you hugged me as i cried when i found out. i had no friends because of him, none! all the girls in highschool hated me giselle, do you know how that feels?”
you’re crying at this point, but she listens, watches as you burst into tears.
“do you know how it feels to find out your bestfriend had been shit-talking you to all the girls just so he could get in their pants?! he had used me as a pickup line giselle, he had embarrassed me, telling girls he thought i was ugly, annoying, that he only tolerated me to make himself look better, all so that they wouldn’t get jealous! do you know how that feels?”
“…no.”
“so why would you do that?” you quieten down, almost to a whisper as you struggle to get your words out. “you know how much he hurt me, about how i can never be friends with half the girls in this college because to this day they still laugh and point. and yet, you don’t care about any of that.”
“it was one night, yn.”
“and yet you still felt that that one night was important than my feelings. how do u think im going to look when people find out my best friend has slept with him? i already look stupid enough!”
“yn, noone will know, i promise.” she replies.
“i know. that’s enough.” you stand up, leaving giselle sat there as you make your way to the door as you let the tears fall.
you feel 18 again, you feel the eyes, the giggles as you would when u walked down the hallway with jaehyun, unaware of what he had been doing behind your back.
jaehyun was probably so smug right now, knowing he had not only used you in highschool, but in college too, and with your own bestfriend on top of all that.
so now, you hate him even more that you ever did before.
you’ll never understand him, you’ll never know why he did what he did.
but there’s one thing you’ll know you will always do:
you will always hate him.
mlist — next
notes; so!.. i guess the truth is out now….. hope u guys don’t hate me too much! 😄😄 (btw there won’t be a chapter tmr bc im busy all day and don’t have the next chapter written, the next update will be sunday! sorry😞)

LUST - p.b
hi this is chapter two lol
warnings: angst, asshole paige
part: 2
a/n: this is pretty short lol. also the songs i put are basically what the chapters are based off of! sorry if that wasn’t clear, it’s basically some “playlist” thing i see other writers do!! 🙂↕️ also im basically putting you guys on..
its been 6 days since you’ve broken up with your boyfriend.
you and paige have been hanging out every day since, and you can say these have been the best days since you two have met.
right now, she’s at practice. that means you’re all by yourself.
you decide you wanna go down to the lobby, maybe grab a few snacks.
you check your phone before you leave, no calls or texts. that’s boring, and it sucks.
anyway
you put on your slippers and head out. as you’re walking you see paige’s teammate, ayanna.
“hey, ayanna. don’t you guys have practice?” you ask.
“huh? practice is tommorow” she says, laughing.
but you found nothing about that sentence funny. at all.
“well.. paige told me you guys have practice today?” you say confused.
“well blondie is lying. why she tell you that?”
“i don’t know. she said she had to leave for practice around like 1 earlier and i haven’t heard from her since.” you say, annoyed.
“whattt? girl its 9pm. no practice lasts that long regardless.. how vulnerable are you?” she says, giggling.
“ok shut up. can u text her? ask where she is? pleaseee?” you ask with puppy dog eyes.
“alright alright. gimme a minute,” she pulls out her phone, going to text paige.
as she texts her, you see her expression change. she’s looking weird.
“what is it? where is she?” you say, worried.
“she’s- she’s at her cousins.” she says nervously.
“are you lying?”
“no? i’m not. but i gotta go, ill see you around.” she speaks, walking away hurriedly.
you look around, wondering if you’re crazy.
you pull your phone out of your pocket, going to text paige.
hey, where r u?
you sit and wait. might as well get your rice krispy treat you’ve been wanting.
you walk over to the vending machine, putting in the dollar to buy your treat.
*ding*
*ding*
*ding*
“holy shit what the fuck dude” you whisper to yourself as you get 3 messages back to back from your friend.
you open the messages, and your heart instantly drops.
“what. the. fuck.” you say in your mind.
what the fuck? don’t you guys like .. idk talk?
that’s exactly what your friends message reads.
it’s three pictures of paige walking with some girl. and the third picture..
they’re holding hands.
all of a sudden, an incoming call pops up on your screen from your friend.
“holy shit girl isn’t that your little girlfriend?” says your friend over the phone.
“dude. where are you? how’d you get those?”
“i’m at chick fil a right now, and then i seen THEEE paige bueckers like omg woah then i see her with some girl that wasn’t you and that’s definitely like a omggggg woahhh reaction and so i-” she rambled.
“shut up for a second jesus. holding hands is like actually crazy. alright i gotta go.”
“alright bye babe but talk to her or something and fill me in on the tea pleaseee ok bye love you!!!”
you hang up. you don’t know how to feel right now.
you’re so overstimulated.
you walk back to your room, tears ready to fall from your eyes.
you check the message you sent earlier, and you realize you’ve been on read for ten minutes.
you put down your phone & sit back against your head board. you’re so confused, so upset, so angry.
you feel so stupid.
you start to cry, looking back on everything you’ve done for her. everything you’ve done with her.
she turned you gay, she made you breakup with your boyfriend, and now she’s cheating.
not necessarily cheating, since you guys aren’t technically together.
but that doesn’t matter, you’re off limits to other people and she’s supposed to be.
you don’t hold hands with your cousin like that.
after about 20 minutes of crying, you hear your door open. and speak of the devil, it’s paige.
she walks in, noticing you crying and immediately comes over to you.
“woah woah baby, what’s wrong? are you okay?” she says, confused.
“who is the girl.”
“what? who?”
“the girl! who is she paige?” you yell.
“i don’t know who youre talking about.”
“you know exactly what and who the fuck i’m talking about dude?!” you jeered.
“chill the fuck out,” she tempted, “and if you want me to be honest, she’s just a friend of mine.”
“nobody holds hands like that with their friends. you’re a liar.”
“no way you’re calling me a liar now. i said she was my friend and that’s what the fuck i said. drop it.”
“drop it? you literally said im off limits to other people, so how does that change for you?”
“it doesn’t. i’m just saying, she’s just a friend.”
“whatever paige. i don’t even know how you could do this to me after everything we’ve done for and to each other.” you whine.
“don’t act like a baby now. i’m not the bad person here, you are.” she huffs.
“how the fuck could you even say that?”
“well i’m not the person who left their boyfriend for a girl! i don’t know what you’d expect from me.” she snaps.
“what the fuck? you made me leave him paige! you asked, you convinced, you nagged. don’t flip this shit on me!” you snap back.
“well maybe i wanted to have a little fun. that’s all it fucking was.” she says, an angry look in her eyes.
“take a look around paige, nothing about this is fun to me. read the room. think about how i would’ve felt.”
“how the hell did you even find out?”
“doesn’t matter. don’t flip the subject.” you sass.
“whatever. i don’t know why you thought we were more than a hookup anyway. you’re obsessed and crazy.”
your heart drops. you immediately turn away from her, tears about to form in your eyes.
“get the fuck out.” you snarked.
“alright. i’ll do that then.”
“bye. don’t come back.”
and just like that, you hear the door close. she actually left.
tears immediately start flowing. you feel so hurt, neglected, ridiculed.
you cannot believe the words that came out of her mouth, after everything.
you sniffle and cry, thinking back on the memories you two had.
it would be insane to say it wasn’t more than a hookup. but you guess it was.
as you slowly cry yourself to sleep, you realize this was a mistake.
a/n: hi so this is horrible but pls stay tuned for next chapter, maybe smut maybe not 👅 also someone teach me how to make a masterlist pls??!!!

matthew + choking - no explicit smut but still minors dni
today you and all of his friends had been hanging out casually at the dorms. it was all going great until one of them decided it was a good idea to start flirting with you. boredom leads to interesting scenarios between men, you figure. of course, it was playful because they all knew how matthew could be but it was mainly for fun and games and to get a reaction out of their friend.
"matthew's girlfriend looks really pretty today!" jiwoong had pointed out. a simple tongue poke through the cheek was enough to let you know that matthew was getting irritated already. his bright eyes had turned dark and you could tell his whole demeanor had changed just by the comment alone.
you bit the inside of your cheek to keep yourself from bursting out laughing because of how obvious he could be. just to rile him up because you were bored out of your mind, you decided to play along with the group's antics. a little poking fun wouldn't hurt, plus you could tell matthew had been pent up and stressed so why not lighten the mood?
matthew was definitely not happy to entertain this, not realizing that it was just a sudden ploy to get him angry on purpose. the guys liked to joke that he was just too easy to mess around with. he truly took everything to heart.
"thank you jiwoong," you blink at him flirtatiously. somewhere in the room, you hear matthew huff but you block it out of your mind. a part of you wanted to see how far this could go but a part of you knew this was a bad idea.
"can you guys not do that," matthew mumbles under his breath. he tries to pull you closer to him but you don't appreciate the force he's using so you resist.
"do what," you raise your eyebrows at him and pout. you use this chance to lean your head on gyuvin's shoulder, who was sitting nearest to you. "are they not allowed to compliment me?" you egg him on.
gyuvin laughs nervously at the way the older boy glares at him. he must not have been in the mood to feel matthew's wrath, you'd have to remember to apologize to the poor boy later.
"you know what you're doing.." matthew grunts, attempting once more to move you closer to his embrace. his arm muscles bulge every time he pulls you away from gyuvin and you appreciate it for a moment because damn, he has been working out. "im not doing anything. don't pull me so hard" you protest.
in your subtle struggle to stop him from pulling you close you don't notice how your skirt rides up and almost flashes some of the boys. most of them look away, thankfully. "y/n what's up with you??" matthew questions.
"im not doing anything wrong," you defend. "not doing anything wrong?" matthew's frustration with you starts to flare up when you say that. he huffs and stands up, almost knocking down the glasses on the table. everyone glances at him and then at you because they know what comes next.
"my room, now" he frowns at you. he walks off without waiting for you and you know you should probably not make him more upset than he already is. ricky makes a suggestive gesture in the corner of the room and you throw him a playful glare. hanbin shakes his head at you, whispering a "you're in for it".
once you get to matthew's room you see him sitting on his bed with his arms crossed. "fuck he looks so g-"
"the fuck is wrong with you?" "oh"
"nothing," you mutter. he sighs, running his hands down his face. suddenly a small part of you feels guilty. "do you enjoy making me upset y/n?"
when he repositions his arms, you shamelssly stare at them. the veins on his arms and hands are angerily popping out and you want nothing more than for him to-
"my goddamn eyes are up here"
you swallow hard, embarrassed at being caught. "i was just mesing around, its not a big deal, you're just....unbearable.
"im unbearable?!" matthew scoffs. "not with how you're being a slut around my friends every 2 seconds," he rolls his eyes.
you fold your arms across your chest but find yourself biting back a smile once again. when matthew had so gracefully yanked you off the couch, the sadistic part of you sort of hoped he would put you in your place right then and there somehow.
"no you're just possessive as fuck," you mumble. there it was. the word matthew hated the most. he stands up from the bed and takes long strides to where you stand. you back up but find that you're already up against the door. he wraps his veiny cold hands around your neck and you can feel his equally cool jewelry grazing your skin.
you gasp and grasp at his hand. "possessive?" he ponders on the word for a moment, kind of liking how it sounds for a second. "hell yeah i am" he grip around your neck tightens.
"m-matthew" you whine. you don't want to but you subconsciously rub your thighs together. this doesn't go unnoticed by him either as he rolls his eyes, realizing your motives.
"i can show you just how possessive i can be"

"let you break my heart"

Word count: 750
_____________________________________________________________
When you first started your relationship with Albedo, you dropped everything to be as close to him as possible. You know you shouldn't build your entire life around a relationship with someone but being with Albedo felt different. It seemed like you and him were always going to be together. He was so attentive, so gentle, so loving. He remembered your favorite flowers and every moment spent with him felt like it filled every inch of you with happiness. You never got over your butterflies whenever his eyes gently fluttered up from his work to meet yours. You would sit next to him for hours, entertained only by the way his hair softly fell forward against his forehead, and listening to the soft scratching of paper against paper.
So when lumine appeared in his life, you were shaken up. Your first thought when you saw her was “oh god, she’s beautiful.” The way she talked to Albedo as if they had always been friends had you second guessing all your conversations with him. You noticed the subtle way he ignored you when he talked to her. The way his gaze lingered on her face when she smiled. Then comes the moment you replay over and over when you're up late at night. The light airy sound of her laugh rings through your ears as if she were right there. You look at albedo and follow his gaze…. Right to her lips.
You swallow and notice your throat has gone dry. Your stomach is tying itself into knots and your face gets hot. Your voice cuts through as their conversation comes to a pause,” Excuse me.”, you address lumine,”Could I steal away my boyfriend for sec? I need to talk to him.”
She looks slightly surprised at the word “boyfriend” but nonetheless she nods and Albedo walks with you over to a slightly secluded spot in his lab. Your heart is beating fast but you manage to speak.
“Albedo. I want to talk to you before this becomes something bigger than it needs to be. I know this will sound kind of possessive and paranoid”,you ramble,” but I just need to let you know that l feel slightly uncomfortable with you talking to Lumine.”
Albedo’s eyes widen ever so slightly at your words. He pauses for a moment before speaking,”My apologies. I never meant to make you uncomfortable, but we are just talking. I don't see the problem in just having a conversation with her.
You immediately feel embarrassed and your face is burning up.”yeah, you're right. I’m just being paranoid. Sorry.”
You wish you could say that day was the first and last time you felt this way but no; over the next few weeks you would often find Albedo already conversing with Lumine upon your arrival to his lab, or see them up in the mountains together. When questioned, Albedo responded with, “I was testing out a hypothesis with some experiments and Lumine was just assisting.”
You tried to believe him but it was hard not to notice him not calling you your usual pet names whenever she was around. Or the way he seemed less and less interested in your conversations.
It all came to a climax on one particularly cold afternoon, when you had received word via Sucrose that Albedo would be working late tonight. To take your mind off of recent events you decided to go to the Angel share tavern that night. As you stepped into the tavern you looked around to find an open table but were surprised to see Albedo sitting in a booth in the corner of the room.
“I guess he got off work early!” You thought to yourself
You were excited for a chance to talk to him without Lumine there and were about to call out to him but instead you froze when you saw what was happening. He was sitting next to someone. That someone was Lumine. They were kissing.
Your body started shaking as soon as the realization set in. You felt nauseous, very very nauseous. The stress that you had felt recently all came flooding into you at once and you lost your footing. The floor was coming up fast and as you hit the floor you heard someone screaming. It was loud and guttural and it wouldn't stop. That's when you realized it was you screaming. You finally ran out of air from screaming your lungs out and soon lost consciousness.
______________________________________________________________
Should I make a part two??? I kinda wanna make this a happy ending... maybe with another character??? idk... Hope you enjoyed!

Jongho paced around the conference room, his hands shaky as he waited for the CEO and other representatives to arrive. It was the first time he had called a special meeting. His mind was filled with a whirlwind of thoughts and what-ifs, making it impossible for him to sit still. Unease had settled in his stomach, churning uncomfortably with every passing second. It was a different kind of nervousness compared to what he had felt before his audition. Back then, it was a mixture of excitement and fear of the unknown. But this was entirely different. This time, he was more than just an aspiring artist. He was a father, a man who had discovered a newfound purpose in life, a purpose that was far more significant than any song or dance routine. His heart pounded in his chest, the rhythmic thumping loud in his ears as he waited for the attendees to arrive. His palms were sweaty, his fingers trembling slightly as he clenched and unclenched them in an attempt to release some of the tension. As he looked around the empty conference room, he could feel the weight of the situation bearing down on him. The silence of the room seemed to echo the uncertainty he was feeling, amplifying his anxiety. He was about to have a conversation that could change the course of his life, a conversation that could either bring him closer to his daughter or push him further away. He had no script, no rehearsal. All he had were his feelings, his love for his daughter, and his determination to be a part of her life. As he waited for the meeting to begin, Jongho felt a strange mix of fear and anticipation. He feared the possible outcomes, yet was eager to voice out his feelings, his intentions.
As he paced back and forth, his mind raced with thoughts of every possible scenario. What if they didn’t believe him? What if they questioned his sincerity? What if they denied him the chance to be a part of his daughter’s life? But amidst all the doubts and fears, a small glimmer of hope remained. The hope that they would understand that they would give him a chance to prove his worth as a father. He couldn’t predict how this conversation might end. But he knew one thing for certain. He was ready to fight. Ready to fight for his right to be a father, to be a part of his daughter’s life. And with that thought, he took a deep breath, steadying himself as he prepared for the meeting that could change his life forever.
After what felt like forever, the CEO entered the conference room in the company of other representatives, a cup of coffee in their hands. All of them greeted Jongho with a fond smile and one of them handed Jongho one of the cups as well. "It's nice to see you, Jongho. Should we start the meeting now?"
"Thank you," Jongho said, accepting the coffee with a small smile. His hands were shaking slightly as he brought the cup to his lips, taking a small sip of the hot beverage. He looked down into the cup, watching as the dark liquid swirled around. Where should he start? He took a deep breath, lifting his gaze to meet the eyes of the people around the room. The friendly chit-chat and the light-hearted atmosphere were about to take a drastic turn. "I have something I need to tell you," He began, his voice quiet but steady. He knew that his confession was about to change everything.
"Well, I really hope you do have something important to share," the CEO began with a light-hearted chuckle, breaking the tense silence that had enveloped the room. "After all, it's Friday morning, and we've all gathered here, for what I understand is an emergency meeting. Given the urgency, I'm certain that you've called us here for a matter of utmost importance." His smile was warm and encouraging, a stark contrast to the seriousness of his words. "So, why don't you go ahead and tell us, Jongho? What's going on that required such immediate attention?"
Jongho took another deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment pressing down on him. He looked around the room, meeting the eyes of each representative before finally settling on the CEO. "I called this meeting because there's something important, I need to share with you all. It's about my personal life but has significant implications for my career and ATEEZ." He paused, gathering his thoughts. "Five years ago, I was in a relationship with someone very special to me, Y/N. I had to end things because of the pressures and demands of my career. What I didn't know at the time was that she was pregnant when we broke up." The room was silent, the weight of Jongho's revelation hanging heavily in the air. He continued; his voice steady but filled with emotion. "She had our daughter, Nari, and she's been raising her on her own ever since. I only found out about Nari recently, at a fan sign event where Y/N brought her. Meeting my daughter for the first time was... overwhelming." Jongho paused to let his words sink in, watching as the representatives' exchanged glances, processing the information. "I understand that this is unexpected and may complicate things, but I need you all to know that I am committed to being a father to Nari. I will not abandon my responsibilities or pretend she doesn't exist. She is my daughter, and I love her."
The CEO's expression shifted from surprise to a more contemplative look. "Jongho, this is indeed a significant development. We need to consider the implications carefully. But first, tell us more about your relationship with Y/N. How do you see your future with her and your daughter?"
"We both were really young when we fell in love and taking into consideration how much time has passed, it's hard for me to navigate my relationship with Nari's mom," Jongho stated. "I believe the way we parted hurt her in more than one way and I'm willing to work to gain her trust again. However, my current focus is on reconnecting with my daughter."
The CEO sighed, leaning back in his chair. "I understand, but you need to realize the potential repercussions. The public will find out, and we must be prepared for the fallout. We're talking about an illegitimate child, Jongho. It’s going to cause a lot of trouble."
Jongho clenched his fists, his resolve strengthening. "Nari is my daughter, and I won’t let her be treated as a scandal or a mistake. She deserves better than that. I am prepared to face any backlash if it means being a part of her life."
One of the other representatives leaned forward, their expression more sympathetic. "We understand your position, Jongho, and we want to support you. But we need a clear plan, PR team how can we introduce Nari and Y/N to the public? How can we handle the media attention?"
The PR manager, a professional with a calm demeanor, took a moment to gather her thoughts before responding. "The key here is to control the narrative. We need to craft a heartfelt, honest statement from Jongho, explaining the situation clearly and sincerely. We should emphasize his dedication to his daughter and his desire to be a responsible father. Transparency will help us gain the public's sympathy and support."
Another member of the PR team chimed in, "We can arrange an exclusive interview with a trusted media outlet. Jongho can share his story in his own words, highlighting his commitment to Nari. This will allow us to present the news in a positive light and address any potential questions or concerns upfront."
The CEO nodded thoughtfully. "And what about Y/N? How does she feel about being in the public eye? Will she be willing to participate in this plan?"
Jongho took a deep breath. "I don't want to pressure her into anything she's not comfortable with. But I believe that, with time, she will see that being open about our situation is the best way forward for all of us. I will talk to her and make sure she understands the importance of this step."
The PR manager continued, "We should also prepare a detailed FAQ and talking points for Jongho and the rest of the team. This will ensure that everyone is on the same page and can respond consistently to any inquiries. Social media will be crucial as well. We need to monitor reactions and engage with fans to build support and understanding."
A marketing executive added, "It might be beneficial to involve the rest of ATEEZ in this process. Their support can help reinforce the message that this is a positive development for Jongho and his family. A united front will be more compelling to the public."
Jongho nodded, looking a bit hesitant. "There's one more thing. Only Hongjoong knows about Nari right now. The rest of the boys have no idea. I need to talk to them and explain everything before we move forward with any public announcements."
The CEO leaned forward; his gaze intense. "Jongho, we need to move carefully. Your career and the future of ATEEZ are at stake. But we also want to see you become the father you want to be. We'll work on this strategy together, but you need to keep us informed every step of the way."
Jongho nodded, feeling a mix of relief and determination. "Thank you. I appreciate your support and understanding. I won't let you down."
As the meeting concluded, Jongho knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but he was ready to face it with unwavering determination. He was committed to being the best father he could be for Nari, and he would do whatever it took to make things right with you. With the support of his team and his own resolve, he felt more prepared to navigate the difficult path ahead. His next step was to sit down with the rest of ATEEZ and share his story, trusting in their brotherhood and hoping for their understanding.
You had just finished cleaning up when you heard your phone ringing. Your heartbeat faster when you saw Jongho's name on the screen, a sight unfamiliar yet deeply desired. The night before, after Jongho left, you found it hard to sleep. You tossed and turned in your bed, replaying the entire evening. You remembered how he looked, how your heart reacted upon seeing him. It felt as if no time had passed, and your youthful love was still aflame. There was no denying the strong impact seeing Jongho had on you. Despite the years and the distance, feelings you thought you had tucked away resurfaced with a force you hadn't anticipated. You were left grappling with a flurry of emotions, from surprise to anxiety, from sorrow to a yearning you weren't ready to confront. It was as if the past had caught up with you, reminding you of what once was and what could have been.
"Hello?" you answered the call,
"Hi Y/N, I just wanted to let you know I finished the company meeting. Would you like to meet me for coffee?" Your heart raced in your chest at his unexpected invitation, leaving you momentarily speechless.
"Sure, Jongho. That sounds nice," you finally responded, managing to maintain a steady voice.
"Great, can I come and pick you up in thirty minutes?"
"Sure, I'll be ready," you replied, a wave of excitement washing over you.
As you ended the call, you couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief. Part of you was excited at the prospect of seeing Jongho again, eager to spend more time with him. But another part of you was filled with uncertainty, unsure of what this meeting meant for your relationship and where things would go from here. Your mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and questions. You were acutely aware that a lot could change in five years. Jongho was no longer the aspiring artist who was still finding his way, but a worldwide superstar, a member of a successful group. His popularity, his financial status - everything had changed. He was not your Jongho anymore. He wasn't the same boy you fell in love with. He had become a man, a man you wanted to get to know, to be close to. You knew it wasn't going to be easy. But you had changed too. You had matured, become less spontaneous and, perhaps, less happy along the way? You had neglected yourself, focusing solely on your daughter. You weren't unhappy, not at all, Nari was your purpose in life. But sometimes, in the quiet moments, you couldn't help but feel like you had lost a part of yourself in the process of becoming a mother.
You quickly freshened up, opting for a casual outfit that struck the perfect balance between comfort and style. With your heart pounding in your chest, you made your way out of the building. You sat down on a bench, scanning your surroundings for Jongho, but there was no sign of him. You started to grow impatient, shaking your legs as a distraction. It was a struggle to calm your racing heart. You had to repeatedly remind yourself that you were a mother first, an individual second. You had to remember that you were doing this for your daughter's sake. You couldn't selfishly rush Jongho back into your life, even if every fiber of your being yearned for him, even if your greatest dream was to create a family with him. For now, your feelings need to be pushed back. You needed your mind to stay clear, to fight with yourself to remain a responsible adult, a mother who wouldn't let emotions cloud her vision. Preferably, you would have wanted to just run into Jongho's arms and explore the feelings, the love. And if needed, beg him to love you again. But you couldn't. Not now. As much as you wanted to give in to your feelings, you knew that it wouldn't be fair to Nari. You didn't want to risk her getting hurt if things didn't work out with Jongho. So, you buried your feelings deep inside, vowing to focus on your daughter and her needs.
When finally, Jongho arrived, you couldn't help but feel a flutter of nerves as you caught sight of him. He looked just as handsome as ever, his warm smile sending a wave of warmth through you
"Hey," he greeted you, his voice soft and gentle. "You look beautiful."
"Thank you," you replied, feeling a blush rise to your cheeks. "You look great too." As you exchanged pleasantries, a familiar warmth enveloped you, easing the tension that had gripped your nerves moments earlier. Jongho's presence felt reassuring, grounding you in the midst of your swirling emotions.
"Shall we?" Jongho gestured towards the café where you met him the night before, a twinkle of excitement in his eyes. With a nod, you fell into step beside him.
Settling into a cozy corner of the café, you found yourselves immersed in a comfortable silence, punctuated by shared smiles and stolen glances. It felt surreal, being in Jongho's presence once again, yet undeniably right.
As a waitress brought your orders, you couldn't help but smile upon seeing Jongho's order. He caught your gaze, a question in his eyes as you smiled even wider. "What?" he asked.
"It's just... your order hasn't changed at all," you responded. Jongho's heart softened, he couldn't hide his happiness that after all these years, you still remembered this small detail about him.
Jongho's chuckle filled the air, "Some things never change, huh?" he remarked, his eyes crinkling at the corners with a mixture of amusement and affection. As he took a sip of his favorite drink, you couldn't help but marvel at the simplicity of the moment—the way his smile illuminated the space between you, bridging the years that had stretched thin with absence.
"So, how did the meeting go? You seem to be at ease," you asked as you also took a sip of your warm drink.
Jongho took a deep breath, his gaze falling to his coffee cup before meeting your eyes again. "The meeting... it went well, better than I expected." He paused, collecting his thoughts. "I was nervous, of course. I didn't know how they would react. But they were understanding. They want to support me." He paused again, a thoughtful expression on his face. "There's a lot to consider, a lot of potential challenges ahead. But I feel... hopeful." He gave you a small, sincere smile, his eyes filled with determination. "They would like to make it public as soon as possible," Jongho added, "It's the best way to control the narrative so I wanted to ask you, how do you feel about it?" Jongho's words caught you off guard. You took a deep breath, collecting your thoughts before replying. You understood the importance of controlling the narrative, especially given Jongho's status.
"That's... a lot to take in, Jongho. I understand why the company wants to move quickly, but I feel it’s too soon," you expressed, your voice laced with concern.
Jongho listened attentively, his brow furrowing slightly as he absorbed your words. "You need to know that it’s crucial that we let the world know. If the media finds out sooner than we release a statement, it can get ugly," he explained, his tone serious.
"I just want you to focus on meeting Nari first," you countered, your priority clear in your mind. Only a day had passed since Jongho found out about Nari's existence, and you felt like everything was spiraling out of your control. You wanted him in your lives, you did, but the way things were evolving felt like you were losing control and it made you panic. As silly as it sounds, you hadn't considered the fact that Jongho's popularity would inevitably put a spotlight on your daughter, too. This situation was more complex than you had anticipated, a factor you hadn't considered at first. What if you go public and within a few weeks, Jongho grows tired of being a father? What if he leaves? What if Nari becomes too much for him to handle? What if reality falls short of his expectations? So many questions swirled in your mind, yet answers remained elusive.
"I don’t want you to feel like I’m pushing you, but you need to understand that it’s best for us if we go public now." Jongho's voice pulled you from your thoughts. ''If we do, I won’t have to worry about getting caught spending time with her, and I'll be at ease." He reasoned; his voice laced with a hint of urgency.
"Then why do I feel like you are pushing me?" You snapped; the frustration clear in your voice. "Look, you can't just come into our lives and expect me to go along with everything the company or you want. It's not that simple."
Jongho looked taken aback by your sudden outburst. He ran a hand through his hair, a clear sign of his stress. "I'm... I'm sorry if it feels that way," he stammered out, his eyes filled with regret. "That wasn't my intention. I just... I just thought it would be best for us, for Nari. But you're right, I should have taken your feelings into consideration too."
"Do you even realize how this will affect her?" You finally voiced out the concern that had been eating at you. "Are you aware of the fact that by stepping into our lives, everything will change?" Your voice was steady, but the worry was evident in your eyes. "There will be media scrutiny, pressure, and unwanted attention. Can you assure me that you are ready for all of this? Can you assure me that you are ready to protect Nari from all of it?" You both sat in silence, each lost in their own thoughts. Jongho looked conflicted, his gaze dropping to the floor as he processed your words.
After a long moment, he finally spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. "I... I understand your concerns," Jongho began, his hands clasped tightly in his lap. "And I won't pretend that I have all the answers. But what I can assure you is that I'm ready to face whatever comes our way. I am ready to protect Nari, to be there for her, no matter what." His words hung heavy in the silence that followed, a testament to his sincerity and resolve. You could see the determination in his eyes, the unwavering will that had always defined Jongho. It gave you a glimmer of hope, a small but still hope.
"Jongho, I appreciate your willingness, and I don't want you to feel like I'm cutting your wings, but you don't know Nari at all. How can you be so sure you want to be her father?"
Jongho's face tightened, a mixture of frustration and desperation evident in his expression. "How can you ask me that?" he said, his voice low but intense. "She's, my daughter. I don't have to know everything about her to want to be there for her. I want to get to know her, to be a part of her life, to love her like a father should."
You sighed, rubbing your temples as you tried to find the right words. "Jongho, it's not that simple. Being a father is more than just a title. It means being there for her every day, through the good and the bad. It means understanding her needs, her fears, her dreams. It's a lifetime commitment, not something you can just jump into because you feel guilty or responsible."
Jongho listened attentively, a mixture of emotions playing on his face. "I understand your concerns," he said solemnly. "I know it's not simple. But I am committed to this. I don't just want to be a father in name, I want to be a father in every sense of the word. And I am ready to make that lifetime commitment." His words echoed in your mind; you felt his sincerity. You looked at him, your eyes searching for the truth. And what you saw in his gaze was not just determination, but also a deep sense of resolve.
"Jongho, I've been doing this on my own for the past four years. Please, try to put yourself in my position. The life I've known is about to change drastically," you looked him in the eyes, your heart nervously pounding in your chest.
Jongho was silent for a moment, his gaze locked with yours. "I understand, and I'm sorry if I've been insensitive. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you," he said, "But I want you to know that I'm committed to being there for Nari, and for you, no matter what."
"No matter what?" you sighed. "I've heard that before," you stated, your voice steady despite the turmoil within. "I heard it five years ago. I heard it right at the very beginning that you would be there for me no matter what. And you know what you did? You gave up." You didn't know what came over you to say those words. Was it fear? Was it a lack of trust? You knew it was a low blow, and you knew that five years ago the breakup was inevitable, that your relationship was doomed from the start.
Jongho's expression softened, regret evident in his eyes as he listened to your words. He reached out tentatively, his hand hovering in the air for a moment before he gently placed it on yours. "I understand your frustration," he said, his voice low and filled with sincerity. "I know I've made a mistake, and I can't change the past. But I can promise you that I'm committed to doing right by you and Nari now and in the future."
Your heart pounded in your chest as you listened to his words. He was trying, you could see that. But it was hard to let go of the past hurt and the fear of the unknown. Still, you knew you had to give him the opportunity to prove himself.
"I appreciate your words," you admitted, meeting his gaze. "But actions speak louder than words. I need you to show me that you're serious about this."
His grip tightened slightly around your hand, "I understand," he said, determination shining in his eyes. "And I will, I promise."
"Alright," you uttered in a gentle, almost whisper-like tone. "We have a lot to figure out, but I appreciate your commitment and I hope you will keep your promises."
"Thank you for giving me a chance," Jongho stated, as he gently squeezed your hand. In the whirlwind of emotions, you hadn't even noticed his touch, but now it sent shivers down your spine. You felt a blush creeping up your cheeks as you looked into his earnest eyes, the intensity of his gaze stirring something deep within you. For a moment, neither of you spoke, the cafe around you buzzed with activity, yet in that small bubble you shared, it felt like time had slowed down. You found yourself captivated by the sincerity in Jongho's eyes, the determination to right the wrongs of the past clear in his touch. "I mean it, Y/N," he continued softly, his thumb gently brushing against the back of your hand. "I want to make things right." His words hung in the air, filled with hope. You felt a lump form in your throat, torn between the desire to believe him and the fear of getting hurt again. Yet, as you looked at Jongho, you saw a flicker of the boy you had once loved, now a man ready to fight for a second chance.
Allowing a moment of vulnerability, you spoke softly, your voice barely above a whisper. The words seemed to hang in the air between you and Jongho, a quiet plea in the midst of the swirling emotions. Your eyes met his, a mixture of fear and hope reflecting in your gaze. "Please," you found yourself saying again, the word almost lost in the silence that had fallen over the room. "Please be patient with me."
Jongho nodded understandingly, his gaze softening as he took in your words. "I understand," he responded, his voice gentle. "I'll be patient. We can take all the time you need." The warmth of his hand in yours was comforting, and despite the turmoil of emotions inside you, it brought a sense of familiarity and reassurance.
His understanding and patience gave you a glimmer of hope, a small but significant comfort in the turmoil of emotions you were feeling. "I appreciate that," you said, your voice steadier now. You paused for a moment, gathering your thoughts before continuing. "I need time to adjust to this... to everything. And I need you to understand that."
Jongho nodded again, his gaze never leaving yours. "I do understand," he replied earnestly. "And I promise to respect your boundaries and give you all the time you need." His words, spoken with such sincerity, eased the tension in your shoulders. His reassurance brought a fleeting sense of relief, yet beneath it lingered a complex tapestry of emotions—doubt, longing, and a cautious hope for what the future might hold. You knew this journey would be fraught with challenges, uncertainties, and moments of vulnerability. But in that shared moment of understanding with Jongho, you found a fragile yet resilient thread to hold onto as you navigated the path ahead together.
You gave him a small, grateful smile. "Thank you," you said softly.
"I understand it might be a challenging situation for you. However, if you would allow it, I'd appreciate the chance to see Nari soon," he requested, his voice maintaining a gentle and understanding tone throughout.
The thought of Jongho spending time with Nari brought a mix of emotions. There was fear, of course, but also a spark of hope. After a moment of silence, you finally spoke. "That sounds like a good idea," you replied, trying to keep your voice steady. "We can start with a short visit, see how she reacts, and then decide the next step."
Jongho took a deep breath before speaking again. "Should I bring something, when I come to meet her?" he asked, trying to lighten the mood a bit. "I could maybe bring her some ATEEZ related things?"
You looked up at him, a playful smile dancing on your lips. "In that case, just bring Wooyoung with you," you joked, your eyes sparkling with humor.
Jongho chuckled softly at your playful jab, his eyes crinkling at the corners with genuine amusement. "I'll see what I can do," he replied with a teasing grin, playing along with your humor. The tension that had gripped the room moments ago seemed to ease, replaced by a light-hearted exchange that offered a brief reprieve from the weighty conversation. You appreciated the way Jongho could effortlessly lighten the mood, even in the midst of discussing serious matters. It reminded you of the connection you once shared, a bond that still held a spark of warmth and familiarity despite the passage of time.
After a moment, Jongho's expression softened, his gaze meeting yours with a hint of sincerity. "On a serious note, though," he began, his voice gentle yet earnest, "is there anything specific she likes? I want to make a good impression." You appreciated his thoughtfulness and the genuine effort he was putting into getting to know Nari. It reassured you that he was serious about being a part of her life, despite the uncertainties that lingered between you.
"Well," you started, "she loves music," a smile tugging at your lips as you added, "just like her dad. " Jongho smiled right back at you hearing you finally referring to him as Nari’s dad. "Anything related to ATEEZ would definitely catch her attention. Oh, and she's a big fan of animals, especially puppies."
Jongho nodded thoughtfully, mentally noting down your suggestions. "Got it. ATEEZ merchandise and maybe something with a puppy theme," he mused with a smile. "I'll make sure to pick out something special for her."
"But please, for the love of God, don't bring her a real puppy," you interjected with a laugh, shaking your head at the thought of adding a pet to your already hectic life.
Jongho chuckled warmly, relieved at the lighthearted moment amidst the weighty conversation. "Noted," he replied, his eyes twinkling with amusement. "No live animals. I promise."
The tension seemed to ease between you both, replaced by a comfortable silence. You couldn't help but feel a surge of gratitude towards Jongho. Despite the complexities and challenges ahead, his genuine effort to connect with Nari filled you with hope. Maybe, just maybe, this could be the beginning of something beautiful—for Nari, for you, and for Jongho.
"I want this to go well. I want Nari to feel comfortable around me," Jongho expressed earnestly, his voice tinged with determination and a hint of nervousness.
"Nari is a social butterfly; she likes people," you stated with a fond smile, pride evident in your voice as you talked about your daughter. "I’m sure she will feel comfortable," you assured him. "Just be yourself and take it one step at a time."
Jongho listened attentively, nodding as he took in your words. "I'll do my best," he replied sincerely, a mix of determination and nervousness in his expression. He appreciated your reassurance and advice, knowing how crucial it was to approach this meeting with patience and understanding. "I want to make a good impression on her," he added softly, his eyes reflecting his sincerity. Deep down, he felt the weight of responsibility as he prepared to meet his daughter for the first time. He wanted nothing more than for Nari to accept him into her life, and he knew he had to tread carefully to earn her trust.
You smiled warmly at him, grateful for his genuine effort. "I'm sure you will," you encouraged, reaching out to gently squeeze his hand. "Just follow her lead, and let things unfold naturally."
With a nod, Jongho took a deep breath, steeling himself for the momentous occasion ahead. "Thank you for giving me this opportunity," he said earnestly, his gratitude evident in his voice.
"Maybe you could come around the day after tomorrow?" you asked him.
Jongho seemed taken aback by the sudden invitation but quickly recovered. "Of course," he agreed a soft smile on his lips. "I'd love to spend some time with Nari. And... with you," he added, a hint of hesitation in his voice.
Your eyes grew bigger with his words, and you suddenly pulled your hand away from his touch. Your heart swelled with a mixture of emotions. You felt a flutter in your stomach, but you pushed it down. Now was not the time for such feelings. Jongho's eyes widened slightly at your sudden withdrawal, a flicker of surprise crossing his features. He quickly masked his reaction, a practiced ease settling over him. "Good. It's settled then. We'll see you the day after tomorrow," you said, the finality in your voice hiding the whirlpool of emotions inside you. Caught off guard by Jongho's words and by the way you had reacted to them, you quickly gathered your thoughts. Many emotions swirled inside you, yet you knew you couldn't afford to dwell on them yet. With a soft sigh, you looked at Jongho, your eyes reflecting a complex mixture of surprise, uncertainty, and a hint of something else. "But for now, I have to go," you finally said, your voice laced with a touch of regret. Jongho's eyes widened slightly at the abrupt change in topic, but he didn't interrupt. "There are still so many things I need to take care of. Mom duties call," you added with a small, somewhat forced, chuckle.
"Can I walk you back to your apartment?" Jongho offered.
"No!" you responded quickly, the urgency in your voice surprising even yourself. Jongho's eyebrows furrowed in confusion at your sudden outburst. He was taken aback, but he tried not to show it. You hadn't meant to sound so harsh, but the thought of Jongho walking you back to your apartment was something you weren't ready for yet. After your abrupt refusal, the space between you fell into an uncomfortable silence. You could feel Jongho's gaze on you, filled with confusion and concern, but you kept your eyes trained on your hands, nervously fidgeting in your lap.
"Alright," he said, trying to keep his voice steady. Jongho simply nodded, understanding but clearly disappointed. "If that's what you want." You nodded, avoiding his gaze. The knot in your stomach tightened as you saw the understanding but clearly disappointed look on his face. You wanted to say something, anything really, to sweep the disappointed look from his face, but the words wouldn't form in your mind. So, you got up from your chair, somewhat awkwardly, and smiled at him, trying hard for the smile to seem real. "I'll see you soon," you said and with that, you hurried to the door. As you left the cafe, leaving Jongho utterly confused and disappointed, a heavy lump formed in your throat, and a flurry of mixed emotions swirled within your heart.
In your haste to leave the café, you didn't realize you had left your phone behind on the table. Your mind was a whirl of thoughts, emotions bombarding your senses as you made your way out of the café, walking down the street, lost in your own world. The crowd around you seemed to blur into the background as your thoughts consumed you, making you oblivious to the fact that you had left your device behind. Meanwhile, back at the café, Jongho was still sitting at the table, lost in his own sea of emotions. The way you had abruptly declined his offer to walk you home, storming out of the cafe without a second glance, played heavily on Jongho's mind. He sat there, his mind processing the conversation, the weight of your words still hanging in the air. Jongho couldn't help but analyze his words. Was it possible that you were uncomfortable with him implying that he wanted to spend time with you? He pondered, his mind racing with uncertainty. Had it been wrong for him to hope that you two could rebuild what once was? The questions left him feeling uneasy and full of doubt. He was so engrossed in his thoughts that he didn't notice the phone you had left behind until it started to ring. The sudden noise startled him, his heart pounding quickly in his chest as he glanced down at the source of the sound. Seeing your phone lying on the table, he reached out and grabbed it with a sense of urgency. The ringing seemed unusually loud in the quiet café, each ring amplifying the tension he was already feeling. He swiftly picked the phone up, a sense of anxiety washing over him, his eyes instinctively glanced at the caller ID… Hyunwoo?
Many thoughts spun through his mind like a whirlwind. Who was this Hyunwoo? Was he a friend, a relative, or someone closer to you? The possibility that gnawed at him the most was, were you in a relationship with him? The question echoed in his mind, each repetition adding to his anxiety. He tried to dismiss the thoughts, to tell himself he was overthinking, but they were like persistent intruders, refusing to leave. The unanswered call, the ringing that seemed to grow exponentially louder with each passing second, felt like it was taunting him. His palms were sweaty, his heart racing in his chest like a drum. The name 'Hyunwoo' seemed to be etched in his mind, each blink imprinting it deeper. His gaze fell on the phone again, the screen now dark, the call ended. But the echo of the ringtone still seemed to linger in the air, a haunting reminder of the question that had now taken root in his mind. Jongho was left sitting there, alone in the silence of the cafe, the weight of the unanswered call and the unknown identity of this Hyunwoo pressing down on him. The sense of unease was wrapping around him like a shroud. As much as he tried, he couldn't shake off the thought of you being in a relationship with another man. It was a possibility he hadn't considered, and it filled him with a dread he couldn't explain. Just as Jongho was caught up in his thoughts, your phone screen lit up again. This time, it was a text message notification. Despite his better judgment, Jongho couldn't help but glance at the screen. The message preview displayed on the lock screen,
Hyunwoo: hi love! could you please call me back asap? can’t wait to see you today!
The text message hit Jongho like a punch to the gut. The words hi love and can't wait to see you today echoed in his mind, each phrase laced with an intimacy that confirmed his worst fears. Hyunwoo wasn't just a friend or a relative; he was someone special to you. The realization struck Jongho hard, sending a wave of mixed emotions crashing over him. He felt a sharp pang of jealousy, but also confusion and sadness. He had no right to feel this way, he reminded himself. You were entitled to your own life, and your own relationships. But knowing this didn't make the pain any less real. As he sat there, staring at the phone, a part of him wanted to call Hyunwoo back, to hear his voice and understand more about the man who seemed to hold such a significant place in your life. But he knew that would be wrong. This wasn't his business, and it wouldn't help the situation.
Instead, he took a deep breath and decided to focus on what he could do. You had left your phone behind, and that was the immediate issue that needed solving. He had to find you and return your phone. Determined to set aside his own feelings for now, Jongho stood up and left the café. He scanned the street, hoping to catch a glimpse of you in the crowd. As Jongho walked down the street, your phone safely in his pocket, his mind raced with an onslaught of thoughts and emotions. He chastised himself for not asking sooner if you were seeing someone. How could he have been so naive? You were an attractive, remarkable woman—of course, there was a chance someone else had captured your heart during the years you were apart. The idea of you being in love with someone else felt like a knife twisting in his chest. Was he foolish to think you could rekindle what you once had? The possibility of being a family had seemed so tangible just moments ago. Now, the reality of Hyunwoo's message loomed over him, threatening to shatter that dream. Jongho's thoughts spiraled. He questioned if your heart had moved on if you had found solace in someone else's arms. How could you not, after all these years? Life doesn't stand still, and he had to confront the painful possibility that you might have found happiness without him. Jongho had held onto the hope that one day, you could rebuild what was lost. But now, doubt gnawed at him. Was it too late? With each step, the questions grew louder. The image of Hyunwoo's affectionate message replayed in his mind, fueling his insecurity. Jongho needed answers. He had to know if there was still a chance for the two of you, or if he was holding onto a dream that had long since slipped away. Finally, as he turned the last corner that led directly to your apartment complex, he saw you. You were heading towards a small, colorful playground. Relief and anxiety washed over him in equal measure. He called out your name, his voice carrying a mix of desperation and hope.
You turned, surprise and confusion flickering across your face as you saw him approaching. Jongho reached you, slightly out of breath, and pulled your phone from his pocket, handing it to you. "You left this at the café," he said, trying to steady his voice.
"Oh," you breathed out, taking the phone from him. "Thank you." You glanced down at the device, momentarily distracted, before looking back up at Jongho. "I didn't even realize..."
He nodded, taking a deep breath. "There's something I need to ask you."
You looked at him, a hint of worry in your eyes. "What is it?"
"Mommy!" Your attention was quickly diverted by the sound of your daughter's voice. Turning, you saw Nari running towards you from the playground, her face lit up with joy. It was a sight that always warmed your heart,
"Sweetie," you greeted, bending down to scoop her up into your arms. Nari wrapped her arms around your neck, giggling happily. "Were you waiting for mommy?" you asked her, your voice soft and filled with warmth. As you looked around the playground, your eyes landed on your mom who was standing a little distance away, waving at you.
"Yes, mommy!" Nari replied excitedly. Jongho watched the tender scene unfold before him, his heart aching with a longing he tried to suppress. Despite the questions swirling in his mind, he couldn't help but feel a pang of affection as he saw you with your daughter. The sight of you two together was beautiful, yet it filled him with a bittersweet emotion. He yearned to be a part of it, to share in the joy and laughter.
As Nari looked over your shoulder, her eyes widened in recognition a bright smile spreading across her face. "Mommy, it's Uncle Jongho!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with wonder. She wriggled out of your arms and ran towards Jongho, her little arms outstretched.
Jongho, taken aback but pleasantly surprised, crouched down to her level, taking her in his arms. "Hey, Nari," he greeted, his voice soft.
"What are you doing here? Did you miss me?" She giggled, her eyes sparkling with amusement and curiosity.
Jongho chuckled softly at her question. "Of course, I missed you," he replied, playing along with her innocent curiosity.
"Will you play with me?" she asked, her head resting on his shoulder, her eyes glimmering as she looked up at him. Jongho looked at you, awaiting your response.
"Actually, sweetheart, Uncle Jongho was just leaving. But he'll come to play with you soon, alright?"
Nari's eyes lit up at the promise of a future playdate. "Really?" she asked, her voice filled with excitement. "Promise?"
Jongho nodded, managing a small smile despite the turmoil inside him. "I promise, Nari." His eyes met yours again, the intensity of his gaze reflecting his determination to keep his word.
Nari giggled, obviously pleased. "Okay! I will wait for you, Uncle Jongho!" After Nari's giggle subsided, Jongho gently set her back on her feet, giving her a warm smile. Nari beamed back at him, her eyes shining with enthusiasm. "Remember," she said in a voice full of excitement, "you can bring Uncle Wooyoung with you!"
Her innocent request brought a genuine chuckle from Jongho, he nodded in agreement. "I'll see what I can do about that," he replied playfully.
"Me and Grandma made cookies for Uncle Wooyoung!" she stated proudly, her smile growing even wider. "I want to give him my cookies!" Her words were filled with such joy and anticipation that it was contagious. You couldn't help but smile at her enthusiasm.
The way Nari's face lit up at the thought of giving cookies to Uncle Wooyoung touched your heart. "That's very sweet of you, Nari," you replied, ruffling her hair affectionately. "I'm sure Uncle Wooyoung will love your cookies."
Jongho looked at Nari, his heart filling with warmth at her innocent excitement. "And I'm sure they're the best cookies in the whole world," he added, earning a delighted giggle from Nari.
Nari was quick to respond. "I have them in my backpack!" she exclaimed, her face lighting up with excitement. Before Jongho could react, she turned on her heel and dashed off towards her grandmother. Jongho watched her, his eyes never leaving her. He saw her reach her grandmother and point to her backpack. The older woman bent down and handed the small backpack to Nari, who eagerly began to rummage through it. After a moment, she pulled out a small purple box and turned back to face Jongho, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. With the box clutched tightly in her hands, she started running back towards him.
With the box tightly held in her small hands, Nari hurried back to Jongho, a wide smile on her face. "Here, Uncle Jongho!" she exclaimed, holding out the box to him. "These are the cookies!"
Jongho accepted the box with a soft smile, his heart warming at the innocent gesture. "Thank you, Nari," he said, his voice gentle. "I'm sure Uncle Wooyoung will love them."
"Promise you'll give them to him?" Nari asked, her eyes wide with hope.
Jongho nodded, meeting her earnest gaze with a gentle smile. "I promise, Nari." With that, he stood up, sharing a last glance with you, "I think it's time for me to leave," he said, his voice tinged with a hint of sadness. He looked at you and then at Nari, his gaze lingering on her cheerful face. There was a hint of regret in his eyes, a silent wish that he could stay longer, and be a part of this world that you and Nari shared. But he knew he had to respect your boundaries and give you the space and time you needed. So, with a heavy heart, he turned to leave, his steps slow and reluctant.
Before he could turn away completely, Nari's voice stopped him. "Bye, Uncle Jongho!" she called out, waving at him. "Don't forget the cookies!" Her innocent reminder brought a small smile to his face, momentarily easing the heaviness in his heart.
"I won't, Nari," he promised, waving back at her. Then, with a final glance at you, he walked away, his figure gradually disappearing into the crowd.
As you watched him leave, you couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. There was relief, yes, but also a strange sense of loss, a lingering sadness that surprised you. Despite the complexities and challenges ahead, Jongho's genuine effort to connect with Nari stirred a hopeful spark in your heart. Maybe, just maybe, this could be the beginning of something beautiful.

Part 2
Summary: Evan's self-destruct behaviour lands him in therapy, where he connects with (Y/n). Everything starts changing when she transfers to the 118 and their worlds collide.
Enjoy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I thought it was you,"
A shiver ran down the base of Evan's spine and his fingers curled tighter around the paper cup in his hand.
He recognised that voice. He had heard that voice somewhere before; it was like trying to recall a memory hours after waking up. But Evan did know her. He had heard that sweet tone before, it was like a lullaby in the back of his mind.
His head turned to the right and his chest tightened for a moment when he felt a hand trail across the back of his shoulder and around his arm. He watched her move, swiftly, angelic, until she was standing on his left in front of the refreshment table with him. He noticed the height difference first; she barely came up to his shoulder and that rung a distant bell in the back of his mind. But when her head tilted up and he caught sight of those eyes, his lips quirked into a smile.
The Christmas party.
That was where he had heard that voice and seen those mesmerising eyes before. She was the girl he went home with.
Evan could barely remember that party if he was being totally honest with himself. He hadn't been on shift and the party had been held at a different station for a change. Evan had downed one too many drinks, giving himself liquid courage to talk to anyone who approached him. This girl had been the one. She struck up a conversation with him and before he knew what was happening, he found himself dragging her out of there.
He didn't know how he managed to find his way home but somehow they got there alright. The rest of the night was a blur, but it didn't take a genius to guess what had happened. It was what usually happened when Evan found himself drinking away his anxiety and going on self destruct.
"I'm surprised to see you here," Her voice serenaded Evan until he realised he was staring down at her with a tender smile, but not actually saying anything or acknowledging her.
His heart did another leap in his chest when she darted her eyes around before leaning in close to whisper, "Fire hose, right?"
Oh God, what had he said to her that night?
That was a nickname he got when he was first on the job and it wasn't something that had stuck, thankfully. Evan must have been a lot worse off than he thought.
His lips pulled into a worried smile and he tilted his head down and tried to control his hands so he could pour some coffee into his empty paper cup. His tongue darted out over his lips and he leaned across, silently filling her own cup when she held it out to him.
"I told you that, huh?"
"Not quite… that's the name you put with your number in my phone." It was hard for (Y/n) to stop her lips from curving into a grin around her cup as she took a swig of coffee. She had been pleasantly surprised to look through her phone the next morning and find that instead of his name, that was what he decided to save his contact number as.
"Let's change it to Evan, shall we?" He dragged his eyes over her shirt for a second before he looked back up at her smile.
(Y/n). Her name was (Y/n), he could remember that now.
Her number was in his phone but in his drunken state, Evan hadn't remembered to add her name in. They had exchanged a few messages since their hook up at Christmas, but neither of them had met up again. The Christmas and New Year period were very hard for their line of work and kept them both busy.
"I um, I haven't seen you here before. Are you okay?"
(Y/n) brushed a strand of hair behind her ear as she turned her back to the table and looked over towards the middlle of the hall. The chairs were just being set up into a rough circle and the usual members of the group were plodding in. Not many people got a drink before their session started, everyone usually found their selected seat and got sat down straight away.
She hadn't seen Evan here before. (Y/n) hadn't been to many meetings, she started coming just before Christmas and Evan hadn't been here then or anytime since.
She debated reaching her hand out to touch his shoulder but refrained herself and moved her arm to wrap around her chest instead.
"My sister thought I could use some help, reccomended this place." Evan wouldn't have chosen to come here of his own volition, but he would do anything for his sister. And to stop her worries and calm her down, he came here when she gave him the leaflet and suggested it at least three times.
"I'm glad you're here."
Her words took Evan by surprise. His eyes followed her as she started to walk towards the seats, leaving Evan behind her with a loose jaw and swirling emotions flooding through his pupils.
With his cup in one hand and his other hand tucked into his back pocket, he followed after her with a slow pace and his heels dragging against the polished floor. He watched everyone take their seats and he moved to the empty space which just so happened to be directly opposite (Y/n).
It gave Evan a perfect view of the girl he had thought about more than once over these past few weeks.
He leaned to the right and placed his cup down beside his chair before he tried to get comfy. His back slouched down, his knees spread wide and his hands clasped together, hanging between his thighs. He didn't know how to sit or what to do with himself.
And Evan found his eyes dancing across to (Y/n) more than once.
She was sat with her legs crossed beneath her and her back set straight. Both her hands were planted on her knees and made her look like she was meditating, and maybe she was. Maybe that was her way of staying calm and getting through these sessions.
There weren't many people who enjoyed meeting a group of strangers and talking about their problems.
"Okay, we have a new face among us today. Would you like to introduce yourself?"
Evan lifted his head and looked around the room again. Everyone was sat down now, there were nine other people and the group leader here. He didn't want to be called out. It made him feel like he was back in school, like he was the new kid. He stuck out like a sore thumb to everyone here when all his life, Evan only wanted to fit in.
He stretched his fingers out and started to rub his palms up and down his trousers, wiping the sweat off his hands that were now cold and numb with panic.
He could feel his heart hammering away in his chest and the leaflet crumpled in his back pocket was burning its way through to his skin like he was sat on a meteorite.
"My name's Evan." He smiled despite himself and did a quick, unsettling sweep around the room, taking in the faces of the other nine people sat here with him.
Evan wasn't one for big introductions and he didn't know if he was supposed to go off into a big tangent straight away or wait until his turn. Evan needed to know how they did things here, what their sense of normal was and how he was supposed to act and open up. Were there topics they talked about? Was he supposed to say whatever was on his mind? What should he do?
"Welcome. We're all glad you're here."
Somehow, he doubted that. Evan doubted everyone in this hall would be pleased to have a new, unfamiliar face here to learn their secrets and terrors and silently judge them. He could just feel the unease they were all trying to keep well hidden. A stranger was sitting among them, they would have to open up to someone else who was new and strange and possibly a threat or a danger to their sanity.
The only thing that was calming Evan down from a panic attack was the fact that he knew someone here.
(Y/n). She was here, she had a reason for being here and she was getting help the same way Evan was now trying to do. This was a new world but Evan wasn't totally alone here like he thought he would be.
"I know it might be daunting, your first time here. Do you want to explain why you've decided to come today?"
Evan scrutinised the name written in biro on the session leader's name tag. Harold. He didn't look like a Harold, the name didn't suit him. He was a tall, lanky man in his forties with a receeding hairline and thick rimmed glasses that took up too much of his face. But he seemed kind. His eyes were compassionate which was something Evan didn't see a lot of.
With pursed lips, Evan straightened up in his chair and dug his nails into his knees to try and calm down the panic radiating through his system.
"I… I'm spiralling again, and I don't know what to do. My sister told me about this place. She uh, she found me passed out with bottles and broken picture frames scattered around, and I don't remember why."
His hand brushed beneath his nose before he leaned back and clicked his spine into place.
It hadn't been one of Evan's proudest moments, waking up sometime in the afternoon with Maddie hovering over him. He had fallen asleep on the couch, at least three different spirit bottles lying empty on the floor around him and most of his pictures broken and scattered on the floor. And Evan couldn't remember why he had gone into a rampage or what had set him off. He didn't remember most of the night.
Maddie gave him a choice. He started coming to meetings and tried to let people help him, or she would be round his apartment every day to keep an eye on him.
He wouldn't worry her like that so here he was.
"And what do you do, when you spiral?"
Evan wished he wasn't the first person to be talking today. He wanted to know why everyone else was here, what their triggers were and how they fell out of control.
This group was generalised. It wasn't an alcoholics anonymous or a gambling session or narcotics. It was for a range of people who worked within the emergency services. People who had stressful jobs who were struggling, mostly due to the job but also just because of life. This was a counselling session to try and help people learn different ways to cope and have an outlet to talk.
"I get destructive."
"How so?"
"I binge drink, usually when I'm anxious…" Evan let his eyes lift up from his hands for a few seconds. Long enough to latch his eyes onto (Y/n) and find that she was looking right at him. They seemed to be thinking the same thing.
Christmas. He had been drinking a lot at the Christmas party.
Was (Y/n) part of his self destruct that night? Did he take her home because he needed an outlet?
Then again, (Y/n) hadn't been her best self either. Did she do the same to him?
"I don't… I don't always care about my safety. I'm a fireman and I, I'll run into any situation without thinking it through. I guess, I see myself as disposable. Who cares what happens to me, right?"
Evan knew he had people who cared about him. He had his big sister, he had Eddie who was like a brother to him and he had Bobby and Athena who were like his surrogate parents, but that didn't help as much as Evan wanted it to. His life was never cared for, his sister raised him when his parents couldn't find the will to care about what happened to him.
People used and disposed of Evan like he was nothing, all of his relationships proved that.
When he spiralled, he got to the point of being at ease with running into a burning building and knowing he might not come back out. He didn't always listen to Bobby's orders, he went off of what he thought he should do and he acted before he could think everything through. Evan lived his life like dying wasn't a real problem.
He played roulette with his life and the possibility of getting hurt didn't phase or worry him like it should. He went numb to it after a while.
"What triggers these spirals, Evan?"
"The people around me. I get so scared of losing them… a friend of mine got hurt on the job and he almost died. He has a family, people who depend on him, but if it had been me, that would have been easier for everyone else."
Evan had gone off the rails when Eddie got shot a few months back. When he wasn't looking after Chris, he was drowning his sorrows and becoming less and less cautious and safe when he was on the job. If he had been the one to get shot, Chris's safety and environment wouldn't have been in danger. He would still have had Eddie come home to him. Eddie's parents weren't the best, but they cared about him.
No one would have to worry if it was Evan who had been shot. He wished he could have taken that bullet. It might have changed things for his own parents as well as how he viewed himself.
Harold seemed to sense that Evan wasn't willing to say much more about it before he nodded and shifted to face the rest of the group, taking the attention off of Evan.
"Thank you for sharing. Can anyone else relate to this self-destruct mode?"
"Sometimes."
(Y/n) bowed her head and started dragging her nails across the back of her hand, scratching the few scabs on her knuckles until they flaked off. She could understand Evan's need to have a drink and wash away the panic. She could relate to going on shift and becoming less self-aware and more open to the idea of being hurt.
"(Y/n), go ahead." The surprise was clear in Harold's voice. The past two sessions, (Y/n) had been as quiet as a door mouse and refused to speak. And the previous session, she had only said that something had happened at work. She wasn't willing to expand on that or explain how it made her feel and no one had pushed her.
But hearing Evan open up despite this being his first session, and relating to his situation, made (Y/n) more willing to talk today.
She dropped her legs down so her feet were touching the floor and kept her eyes on her hands. (Y/n) never knew where to look when she spoke and nine times out of ten, she ended up having awkward eye-contact with someone while she reeled off her monologue.
"I don't want to say how I self-destruct… but I'm willing to explain why."
"That's okay, tell us what's been going on."
"I'm a firefighter too and, we had a call out a few weeks ago… burning building, the usual evacuate tactic. But I got trapped, I needed help and a guy on the team, he chose to help someone else. I mean, I was okay in the end, I got out myself but… it cemented things for me."
"How so?"
"It proved they didn't pick me; my team were never going to pick me. No one had my back, you know?" (Y/n) rolled her lips together and swiped her sleeve across her eyes to collect the tears starting to fall. "How do I go back to work knowing it's me looking out for myself? So I destruct, and I- I don't want to, I don't want to be in pain but I think, if I destruct, someone will notice. Someone will have my back and stop me. No one does."
(Y/n) didn't want to explode on herself. She didn't want to end up hurting herself and putting herself in harm's way and rushing into a tough scene at work when she should hang back and wait. But the more she destructed herself, the more she thought someone would notice.
Someone would come to her aid and hold her and tell her it was okay because they had seen her and they would look out for her. And when no one came to her aid, the cycle repeated itself.
"Have you spoken to anyone at work about it?"
(Y/n) nodded. She wasn't willing to open up about that either. She didn't want to see their judgement if she told them she had requested a transfer to a different station.
It wasn't just because she had been left in danger, it was the fact that no one seemed willing to help her.
(Y/n) had begged for help over the radio, she was trapped and couldn't get out and the fire was directly above her on a floor that was about to collapse. She had to fight her own way out of that building. She couldn't go back to working alongside people who weren't willing to look out for her. (Y/n) wasn't able to always look out for herself in every situation and she couldn't keep defending herself when a team was supposed to share that effort and care for each other.
"And that's what irritates you, that need to be seen and heard and picked, to have someone put you first."
Harold's words sparked something within Evan and he couldn't stop himself from looking up at (Y/n). He clamped his teeth down on his tongue to refrain from speaking. It wasn't his place to talk or add an input, he was here to listen.
But he was so desperate to tell her.
To tell her that he would have her back. He would pick her, he would put her first if she was on his team. If she worked with him, (Y/n) would never have to fear that no one would come back for her. The 118 would have her back any day of the week, at work or not. She would never have to put herself in harm's way to be seen by them.
(Y/n) lifted her head but she was taken back by Evan's piercing gaze that tore through her. It was like he was trying to send her a silent message but she wasn't getting what he was saying.
Her hands started to scratch along her thighs and she looked down at her knees as she nodded.
"I just… I don't see how you can pick and choose. If we start deciding who lives and who dies, we shouldn't be in the job anymore." (Y/n) knew certain situations meant they had to pick who was a priority and who to help, but it wasn't always like that.
No one chose to come back for her, no one thought it was their duty. They decided (Y/n) wasn't worthy, they didn't pick her and they chose to stand back and to help someone else. Why was it okay to choose to go against her but it wasn't okay to choose to help her?
Their job was to save everyone, not be selective. The day they became selective over their casualties was the day they needed to quit.
"Am I not worth saving?"
"Everyone is worth saving, and that's why you're here. So we can save you."
(Y/n)was happy when the session ended. She liked coming here, talking things through helped, especially when she knew what she said was confidential and she never saw these outside of the meetings. It meant she wasn't at risk of them passing on what she said to other people in her life.
She slung her bag on her shoulder and walked towards the hall doors, throwing her cup in the bin before she walked out into the hallway. Everyone else was still inside grabbing a drink or having a little chat before they left.
(Y/n) crossed her arms over her chest and looked around, unsure whether to stand and collect herself here in the silent corridor or whether to just start her walk home.
"Hey," Her body jumped when a soft voice spoke in her ear and a hand landed on her shoulder.
She jolted to the left and looked up to see Evan towering over her, a timid smile on his face that made him look like a gentle giant. Her eyes followed him as he leaned his shoulders back against the wall and pressed one foot into the wall. His calm, relaxed stance made the tension fade away from (Y/n) and she nudged her shoulder into his with a small smile before she copied his stance and leaned her shoulders back.
"Hi."
"So… what are the rules here? Is this like AA, keep things anonymous, no talking outside of meetings?"
Evan didn't know how they did things here. He didn't know if things were supposed to be kept anonymous. They knew first names but no one said their last names here and he would guess that no one met up outside this meeting hall.
"I don't know, there's no specific rules about that. Why, wanna go for a drink?" (Y/n) tilted her head back and sunk her teeth down into her bottom lip while Evan slid his hand into his back pocket.
"Maybe."
"Your place or mine?"
Evan couldn't work out if she was being serious or if she was just humouring him and trying to break the air a little. The way she dropped her head onto his arm made him suck in a deep breath and when she looked up at him like that and batted those lashes at him, his knees went weak. He hoped she wasn't joking.
"You know if… if you were on my team, I'd pick you. You're worth saving." Evan dropped his chin down to his shoulder to look at her and he thought he'd said the wrong thing when he noticed her eyes were glazed over.
"Why?"
Her lips pressed together and her chin tilted up to meet Evan halfway when he leaned down to get as close as he could. (Y/n) could feel his nose nudging hers and the look in his eyes was almost frightening. Her head and neck started to shake when she felt his fingertip graze up her neck and around to her chin.
"You don't have to have a reason to be saved." He didn't have to have a reason. There was nothing to say that (Y/n) had to do something worthy in order for people to look out for her and help her. Evan would save her whether she was someone he knew or whether she was a complete stranger.
It was what everyone deserved. Every person deserved to be saved, that was the motto of their job, the rule they lived by. They couldn't pick and choose, they helped everyone regardless of who they were and what they did.
But Evan didn't have to have a reason, he instinctively knew he would always pick (Y/n) if she needed him to. He wouldn't leave her trapped and alone, he would go back for her.
He was surprised by her grip when her fingers scrunched up in his shirt and she reeled him closer until their lips touched.
Evan could taste the coffee on her tongue and the cherry lip balm coating her bottom lip. He could feel her nails scratching into his chest and her body pressing up against his until he was pinned back against the wall. His hands moved to cup her hips, both to keep her where she was and to steady her so she didn't slip against him. His hands scrunched around her curves and his nose bumped hers when he pushed down against her.
Maybe this wasn't the best idea.
They were two catalysts, ready to combine and explode and errupt all over the place. They weren't in the best mind frames right now and neither of them wanted to use the other. Evan used sex and alcohol and danger to combust and regulate and it wasn't something he was proud of. He didn't want to do that and hurt (Y/n) in the process.
But the way she was kissing him made it hard to resist. He loved the taste of her lips and the feeling he got when he sank his teeth down into her lip. He loved the way her hands grasped his shoulders when he turned them around so (Y/n) was the one with her back to the wall instead of him.
And he loved the feeling of swallowing up her words when she spoke in hushed, breathless pants against his lips. "So, your place or mine?"
***
"Buck, you coming? Bobby's got the new recruit downstairs."
Hen's voice pulled Evan from his thoughts and stopped him from dragging his fingers through his hair to the point he was almost gathering clumps between his fingers.
He lifted his head up and managed a smile, moving away from the table so he could follow her out the kitchen and over to the stairs. He forgot they were getting a new recruit.
In all fairness, Evan wasn't sure he wanted them to have a new recruit at the station. It took him a while to get used to new people and the last few recruits they had hadn't lasted very long. Lucy had been here for a month, if that. Ravi was in and out, always here and there and never around for long. The guy Hen referred to as 'Monday' was definitely out.
No one stuck around for long and Evan liked the team just the way it was. He didn't want to have to make a new friend and try to learn someone else's tactics and ways of doing the job. He didn't want someone else around to get in the way and slow them down and make things difficult.
Evan plodded down the stairs with his hands in his pockets and his head tilted down. He followed a foot behind Hen towards the fire truck where Eddie and Chimney were already gathered and waiting.
"Alright team, this is our newest member of the team, transferred over from the two-ninety. Meet (Y/n)."
Evan's head bolted up so fast he almost got whiplash when that made rang through his ears. His hands dug through his pockets into his thighs and his shoulders tensed up when he locked his eyes on that oh so familiar frame. He dragged his gaze up her body until he was looking into those piercing eyes that weren't holding their usual intrigue and hope.
There was something different in her eyes today; it wasn't quite panic, but it was close.
An almost cocky grin spread across Evan's face as he reached one hand up to rub his jaw and the corner of his mouth. He could feel all the words burning on the tip of his tongue. Every little quick remark and little jibe he could make to tease her and allude to something without actually admitting anything to the team.
He wouldn't do it to embarrass her, it was the playful side of Evan coming out to play. But everything he wanted to say fizzled out when he looked over at (Y/n) and she darted her eyes from side to side like she was trying to tell him something. He didn't know what she was trying to say, but he could see the nervousness radiating through her when she brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"This is Eddie, Chimney, Hen, and that's Buck."
"It's great to meet you all."
"Now I expect you all to make my daughter feel welcome at our station."
Evan could feel his mouth going dry and his throat began to close up as his eyes darted over to look at Bobby.
Oh God. That had to be a joke. Bobby had to be pulling their strings, trying to tease them and get one over on them. This couldn't be his daughter. He never said she was one of them, that she was a firefighter too. Bobby never mentioned what her name was or what she looked like or that she was so close by and about to transfer here.
How had Evan slept with Bobby's daughter- more than once, and not known?
He didn't catch (Y/n)'s last name when he was at the Christmas party, he couldn't have done or he would have known who she was and he wouldn't have taken her home out of respect for Bobby. He didn't know her name at their meeting either because they only said their first names. And no one really had contact outside of meetings.
This was great. He had slept with the Captain's daughter who was now going to be working with them. How could he work alongside her now? How could he remain professional? What was he supposed to do and say?
He didn't realise he was the only one still stood there until he looked up and everyone else was moving away. Hen and Chimney followed Bobby up the stairs, shouting after him and demanding an explanation while their captain laughed and carried on walking. And Eddie directed (Y/n) over to the locker room before he went ahead into the gym.
Moving from his frozen state, Evan picked up the pace until he was jogging past the ambulance and bolting into the locker room. He watched (Y/n) for a few seconds. She was stood with her back to him, putting her things in the locker on the far right that was spare.
"Hey," Evan leaned his right arm on the edge of her locker and jutted one hip out as his left hand moved to rest on his waist. He tilted his head to the side and brushed his forehead against his arm, waiting patiently until (Y/n) closed her locker.
She let herself drop to the left and slump into her locker, binding her arms across her chest. Her head stayed level with his chest and her eyes focused on the chain hanging around his neck to distract herself.
"You… are you really Bobby's daughter?"
"Hm. Is that a problem?" (Y/n)'s tone wasn't crude or insinuating but when she darted her eyes up, Evan could see the worry swirling around in them.
"No! No, but it complicates things… I should have asked your name at the party, I didn't think…" His hand moved from his hip to smooth over his temple. He could feel a headache forming behind his eyes making his upper lip curl in distaste. He shouldn't have let himself get so drunk he would take her home without even getting her last name or knowing anything about her.
"Maybe if I asked you yours I would have realised you were the Buck my dad always talks about."
It wasn't all Evan's fault. (Y/n) didn't ask him his last name either. He had introduced himself as Evan and that was enough. If he said he had a nickname of Buck or his last name was Buckley, (Y/n) might have figured out that he worked with her dad. That he was the kid her dad had taken a shine to and thought of as his son.
"Does Bobby know why you transferred here?" Evan couldn't believe Bobby would be so calm and collected if he knew (Y/n) was here because of what she talked about in their therapy session. He wouldn't be happy if he knew (Y/n) hadn't felt safe with her team and didn't feel like they were looking out for her.
"No. As far as you all know, I'm here for a fresh start with a good team."
"Okay." Evan scratched his jaw and clicked his neck into place before he leaned back down. He pressed s finger beneath (Y/n)'s chin and tilted her head up so their eyes were locked again. "You'll be alright here, we'll look out for you… I'll have your back."
"And I'll have yours." (Y/n) forced herself to smile as she reached her hand out and patted his chest.
That was that, then. They were going to be working alongside each other, and her dad. (Y/n) was integrating into a new team and whatever had gone on between her and Evan was going to be forgotten history. She would look out for him and keep him in line and he would look out for her and have her back. They would help each other out through this and their therapy sessions were going to be interesting.
Pushing off her locker, (Y/n)rubbed her sweating palms over her thighs and went to walk out the room. But she didn't get one foot past Evan before his hand moved out and cupped her chin. His finger stroked along her jaw and his thumb pressed into her cheek as he turned her head back so she was looking up at him again.
Adrenaline ignited in (Y/n)'s stomach and her fingertips started to turn numb when a clouded, hooded look took over Evan's eyes and his lips curved into a smile.
"Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about this, either."
(Y/n) braced her hand out on the locker to stop her knees giving way when Evan swooped down and conquered her lips. She could feel his teeth scraping against her lower lip and his tongue swiped out before he started to suck on her upper lip. His fingers stayed caressing her jaw and she felt his other hand hold her hip so he could pull her closer.
Both her hands moved to steady herself on his chest and she drank in each breath he tried to take until she made him dizzy.
Things really were going to get interesting.
From Strangers…
flashback:
after a long day you’re finally walking up the stairs to the top floor to get to your dorm and when you think your day can get any worse you feel a sharp hit in your shoulder, you turn your body to face a Tall, Blonde Woman. “watch where your going asshole” she rolls your eyes at you and you can tell bye her body language you just pissed her off even more then she already was “me watch out? your the one who bumped into me so cry me a river and get over it im not in the mood to deal with this shit right now” theres no way she just said that “are you serious? your mad cause you couldn’t watch where your going? get over yourself and just watch where your going next time” you turn around and walk away hearing her mumble something under her breath. when you thought your night couldn’t get any worse it just did.
To Friends…
flashback:
your close friend has recently been complaining about you being distance and lonely which you didn’t mind but she wanted to see you, so she invited you to the bar with her. “so whats been going on recently you’ve been so distant” and she was right honestly, you have been so busy with school recently to notice that you’re taking her for granted, she is a great friend and you wish you have reached out more. “i know i know school has just been so busy and my annoying family sciences teacher has been so annoying and trying to fail me i’ve distanced myself from everyone.” you where trying to explain yourself but she just kept looking behind you “what?” you say trying to grab your attention “theres a tall blonde staring at you. change of words, you want to tell me who’s made you distant recently?” you shift your body around in you seat to look at who she was talking about and to your luck she was talking about the girl in the hallway from 2 weeks ago… “oh my gosh.. she walked right into me about 2 weeks ago and she had a terrible attitude as if it wasn’t her fault, i actually cursed her out when it happened shes probably still pissed.” she she just looked at you stupid “you know shes on the basketball team right? thats Kate Martin dude, she would probably beat your ass to be honest…” you immediately get offended and quickly back yourself up “come on now i would fuck her up easily, she stands no chance” she just smiles and nods at you comment “well why don’t you tell her that yourself she walking up to you.” your heart drops as you look back to Kate walking towards you just to look back to see your friend ditching you and walking to the bathrooms looking back at you just to laugh at you. you quickly try to get up just to be stopped by Kate in front of you not letting you leave. “look if you just here to complain-” she rolls her eyes at you “can you quit acting like your better then me for a second and hear me out?” you want to argue but just decide to cross your arms and let her talk. “look i just wanted to apologize for what happened and apologize for you bumping into me.” theres no way she could be serious. your whole face expression changes and she smirks knowing she had a impact on your emotions, she knows what shes doing. “so your telling me you came over to me just to state that it was my fault. your the most immature person i’ve ever met, now if you would move out my way so i can go back to my friend that would be lovely.” except she doesn’t move, nor does she remove her famous smirk from her face. “calm down im just messing with you. actually i was telling my friends about it and they where telling me i should get your number.” at first you thought she was joking but she was dead serious as she points to her friend group, you look over her tall frame to see a tall brunette, 2 tall light skins, one with pretty eyes and the other with a low slick back bun, and a bunch of other tall blondes. you debate on giving her number but eventually give in. “now when i text you, you better text me back, i know where you live.” you laugh at her statement watching her walk away staring at her for a moment to turn back to see your friend walking back. “so how’d it go?” “you wont believe it” you turn around to look at her and you see her, and the group of girls your with staring at you and your friend then turn there heads to quickly look away “so first she…”
“caitlin shes here i have to hangout up.” “alright Kate just remember she will say yes just be confident.” i say bye as i hang up on her.
your POV:
you open her door to see her pacing around her dorm. “Kate are you okay? what happened?” the looks at you shaking and you can see that shes obviously nervous about something “i need to show you something.” she says quietly. “okay?” you follow behind her trying to hope that she will return back to her normal self. she opens her bedroom door to a big poster with pictures and words on it that you cant quite make out but as soon as you get closer she grabs it and holds it up so you can see. in bright red words it reads ‘will you be my girlfriend?’ you stand there in shock with your mouth open not knowing what to say other then just freaking out because its her. of course you want to be her girlfriend. “so will you?…” a big smile forms onto your face and you burst out laughing. “of course i will Kate oh my gosh your so cute.” she lets go of the breath she didn’t even know she was holding. she walks up to you giving you a big hug not letting go for at least a minute and you pull away to see the board laying down on her bed again, you see multiple pictures that there where surprisingly so many pictures of you together in only the span of 3 months. “oh my gosh i remember that, thats when i suprised you at your opening game of the season. who even took a picture of that?” she started to blush trying to hide her face “i think everyone took a picture of that moment but im pretty sure i used gabbies.” you pull her into a side hug finally feeling whole again now that you finally didn’t have to worry about someone else being her peace.
And Strangers Again.
present:
you woke up to your phone blowing up with 35 messages and calls from friends, family, and Kate. you knew it couldn’t be something good. you open your friends text first
look at your tagged post
on instagram y/n.
okay? whats going on?
just look.
you open instagram to 569 notifications from being tagged in a post followed by Kate and a few of her teammates being tagged in it also. the video started of slow with her teammate Kelsey in a bar talking in the video on a live and then she adjust the camera frame only to see your girlfriend and her teammate aja Wilson in the background of the live kissing on each other with their other teammates surrounding them. you should’ve expected it would happened and part of you did since she was drafted but you didn’t want to believe Kate could ever be like that. you tried to look for a mistake in the video hoping it could be editing or she could just be in a weird position of hugging or anything else, but it was obvious that they where making out in front of 160k people on the live, it was humiliating not only for you hut the entire team as well. as soon as Kelsey saw what she just did she moved them out the camera frame and ended the live. you went to your texts to see 26 missed texts from Kate.
Hiii! So i see that you are taking requests, would you mind writing about billie being jelous? Thanks 😊
⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆
are you… jealous?
summary: billie gets jealous of your date, and decides to crash it.
warnings: none i think? tell me if i missed any!
a/n: ofc!! AAAAA MY FIRST REQUEST IM SO HAPPY
“and she’s taking me out for dinner tonight as well! isn’t that so sweet of her?” you said into the phone, waiting on billie’s response. billie sighed, but you didn’t hear. “yeah, that sounds nice,” she said, hiding her displeasure at the news, “what restaurant is it?” “it’s a surprise, apparently.” you giggled. “look, uh- i’ve got to go. talk soon?” billie said abruptly. “oh, ok. talk to you soon billie!”
billie hung up and put her phone down on her pillow. “why not me?” she said out loud, “why that girl? i could treat y/n way better.” you had just gotten back with your ex two weeks ago. the girl had cheated on you and broke your heart, but came crawling back to you once the girl she had cheated with dumped her. billie had voiced her concerns when you told her, but you had refused to listen to her, saying that the girl had changed.
after about twenty minutes of scrolling through instagram, billie got a notification that you had gone live. she switched to her secret account and joined it. you were just chatting to your fans, nothing special. but billie stayed, hopeful for any information about your date. she watched you reply to comments your fans, smiling as you laughed. one fan then asked you about your love life, and billie knew she had to pay full attention now.
“what’s my love life like? well…” you started, “i actually have a date tonight! how about you guys help me choose what i wear?” you asked the viewers, hit with instant replies of “YESSS!!”. you beamed, and said you’d be back in a second before running to your wardrobe, which was off camera. you came back with a few different options, and showed them to the camera. the viewers, including billie, cast their vote. the overwhelming majority was option 2, a red minidress. you thanked your fans, and soon got back to chatting to them. billie stayed til the ends of live, and when you turned it off, billie put her phone down and sighed yet again. she lamented how jealous she was, wishing it was her taking you out on a date, not that horrible ex of yours. and soon, a plan came to mind.
“thank you for doing this, zoe.” billie said, smiling at her friend. zoe smiled back, “no bother.” she said. billie had managed to find out what restaurant you were at by looking at some photos you had posted from inside the restaurant and some other stalking she did. she entered the establishment without any paparazzi noticing, much to her relief. if things went as planned, she and zoe would be placed near you, if not beside you. she looked around at the ceiling, floor and general aesthetic, confirming to herself she was at the right place. then, she saw you. red minidress with matching makeup and shoes; you looked amazing. you were looking at your ex with a sort of love that made billie sick to her stomach with both worry and envy. zoe spyed you too, asking the waitress if her and billie could be seated in the right hand corner or near it, where you and your ex were. the waitress complied, bringing her and billie to a table diagonal from you.
billie and zoe sat down, and billie snuck a glance at you, careful to make sure it went unnoticed. you looked beautiful. billie looked back to zoe and began chatting with her, stealing glances every now and then at you. the waitress came over five minutes later and billie and zoe ordered. after a while, they got their food and began eating. “so,” zoe started, “is it… working?”. she gestured subtly with her head towards you. “man, how am i supposed to know?” billie said, “but i hope so.”
you said something to your date and headed to the bathroom. billie saw this and smirked at zoe. “i’ll be back in a bit.” she said. she walked to the bathroom, just a little bit behind you. she stood awkwardly in one the stalls, waiting for the creak of your stall door. when she heard it, she walked out of her stall and pretended like she hadn’t been stalking you and didn’t know you were there.
“oh hey y/n! didn’t expect you’d be here.” billie lied, smiling at you. you didn’t give the same reaction. “what do you think you’re doing?” you said angrily, staring at billie. billie feigned innocence, asking what you meant. “don’t act all innocent. why are you here? why can’t you leave me alone for one night?” you hissed. billie frowned, but didn’t say anything. “you always do this, billie. any time i’m trying something new with someone, you get in the way of it. it’s so annoying. i wish you would just-“ you stopped yourself, hitting a realisation point. “wait…” you laughed as you looked at billie’s guilty expression. “are you… jealous?” billie looked down, not saying a word. you laughed again. and then billie spoke.
“yes, ok? i am. i am fucking jealous, y/n. i’m jealous because i’ve liked you since i met you, and i’ve had to watch you get your heart broke and i’ve had to fix you up just for you to go back to bitch who did the damage to you! i could you treat you so much better. i could-“
billie was cut off by the feeling of your lips on hers. she jumped out of surprise, but quickly returned it. she was happy, finally.
Heyy I’m wondering if you could write a part 2 with angst/comfort of the waiting room Pedri fic I literally need to see them get together so badly (⋟﹏⋞)
Waiting room p.2 — Pedri González.
Pairing: Pedri González x Fem!Reader
Summary: He was all you thought about for weeks after you saw him and you finally get yourself to grow up and seek him out.
Word count: 1.74k+
Disclaimer/s: this is a majority angst but will end in fluff! this is also a part two! click here for part one !
A/N: “sleeping with the lights on” by searows is so like im clawing at my head!! this is what it’s based on !! this was so rushed soz.. also!! it’s pedri’s birthday so i will be posting quite a lot of blurbs for him today ^_^~
The dim lights that lit up the porch of a home you’d once known no longer casted a welcoming glow over you. They were cold and whispering for you to leave, to get out of there before you made another mistake.
Your eyes closed for a moment as you collected yourself. You were here. You had been planning on doing this for the past week, you couldn’t go back now.
You don’t get the chance to walk away, the door cracking open and in it appears a blonde. Your heart sinks the moment you see her, but it goes away quickly. Behind her is a man you recognized, Fermín. Great.
The blondes eyes shoot wide in surprise, “shit, is that who I think it is?” He clambers down the steps, his girlfriend—presumably, in tow. “Long time no see, Pedri’s inside. We’re the last to leave.”
You force a warm smile, trying with all your might not to topple over. “Fermín! Wow! How nice to see you.” Your brain goes fuzzy as he offers a short conversation, one you desperately wanted out of.
When he does finally leave, you take a few steps up and onto the porch, now only a few feet from the door. You take a long, calming breath before knocking on the door.
“Did you forget—“ Pedri’s words die on his tongue the second he opened the door, his breath being knocked out of him.
Something flashes in his eyes, something you couldn’t quite decipher. The second it appeared though, it was gone in a simple blink, a look of vacancy filling his expression.
“Come to personally give me your.. invitation?” He sighs, not bothering to allow you into his home, instead opting to close his fist tighter around the door handle.
You look away, staring down at your feet for a moment as you gather your bearings. When you look up, your mouth opens and closes, seeking out words that never come.
From his stiffened posture, the spite in the crevices of his expression, you know he wants you to leave.
Forcing yourself to speak, you run a hand over your arm in a smoothing up and down motion. “Do you see a ring?” It came out a lot more sarcastic than you meant, but when Pedri’s gaze flickers to your hand, you see something short of relief cross over his face.
Pedri looks up, meeting your eyes for the first time since you’d arrived. “What happened?”
You. You happened.
“It doesn’t matter.” You shake your head, “I just… I, uhm, I miss you.” You felt pathetic—weak even, showing up to his house like this. Your fiancée loved you, yet here you were on the porch of a man who’d never one uttered those words to you.
Pedri doesn’t look at you anymore, his gaze fixing on the ground as he shuffles uncomfortably, silently battling between his heart and mind.
“You can come in, it’s cold out.” He steps aside, making room for you to enter into his house.
You give a small nod, hesitantly walking into the house. It had changed a lot, but still held remnants of the past. Everything that you’d helped decorate, was gone. Every ounce of you in that house had vanished. Your heart cinched when you caught a glimpse of the drawing you made of Camp Nau on the shelf beside a few trophies, which the collection had significantly increased since you last saw him.
But, there was no familiarity beside that. The decorations were different, the furniture was different—except for the lounge chair his mother had gifted him as a housewarming gift.
“Sit, I was just making coffee.” He says, disappearing into the kitchen a few feet away.
You wander further into the living room, fingers trailing the cream colored couch. There were blankets scattered across them, and you were quick to figure out why. A black puppy laid on one edge of the couch, clearly sleepy, but watching you with curious eyes.
You smile faintly, slowly sitting down beside him. His collar read, ‘Nilo’. Pedri had always wanted a dog, he was so good with pets.
“I made you a cup, in case you wanted some.” Pedri announces his return, handing you the mug carefully. The second it was securely in your hands, he let go, as if being that close to you would make him catch some sort of virus. He choses to sit on a seat a few feet away, watching you closely and silently.
You weren’t sure what to say to him, so you start with the question you’d ask any old friend. “How have you been?” You hum, taking a sip of the coffee he’d made. A jolt of surprise hits you when you realize he hadn’t just made any coffee, he’d made your special coffee. The one that only he and you knew how to make.
He’d remembered something like that?
“Fine.” He answers bluntly, “and you?”
Setting the mug on the coffee table beside you, you meet his eyes. You were here to be honest, to not hold back anymore.
“Well, I broke off my engagement, so. Not great, but not terrible either.” You exhale, thankful to at least get that admission off your chest.
Pedri’s eyes widen momentarily. He hadn’t expected you to be the one to break it off. “Oh, i’m sorry. Was the guy an ass or something?”
You chuckle lightly, shaking your head. “No, he was a great guy. I just..” Now or never, now or never.. “I just couldn’t love him the way he loved me, I suppose.”
The raven haired man knew he shouldn’t have felt happy about that but, a part of him was. “I’m sorry to hear that.” He was giving you small and short answers, like he couldn’t form anything but.
He so desperately wanted to ask why.. to pry something out of you. He holds back though, because why risk prying when it could potentially leave him hurt once again.
“I know you probably don’t want to hear from me, I know I shouldn’t have shown up unannounced.. but Pedri?” You speak quietly, ashamedly, beckoning for him to show you a sliver or something other than indifference.
Pedri’s tongue darts out to wet his lips before he speaks. “Yeah?”
“I couldn’t love him because..” Just say it God dammit! Just— “Because he wasn’t you.”
A weight lifted off your shoulders the second the confession left your lips. Running a hand through his hair, Pedri laughs in disbelief. “You waited years to give me an hint of.. of anything!? Jesus, I’m trying to move on from you!”
Your eyes glaze over and you blink rapidly to push down any hurt his outburst had caused you. Then, you pause, confusion flashing across your face. “Wait—wait, what? You? Hint? Pedri. I waited for you?”
He blinks, “you waited? I—I thought.. what?”
A tight, tense air fills the room while the both of you sink in the revelation. Pedri’s the first to break it though, pushing himself up and off the chair. “Come with me.” He pushes his hand out in your direction, waiting patiently for you to take it.
You stare at it curiously, reaching out and connect your hand to his. A jolt shoots up your arm at the contact. That was the first time you’d felt him in years.
Without another word, Pedri tugs your hand and leads you out back, to the place you’d thought about every time you saw his face on the screen when watching Football.
Nilo’s collar clinks and clangs as he pads behind the two of you, which you smile at when his soft fur brushed against your leg.
Once Pedri reached his intended location, he motions for you to sit. Your eyebrows are pulled together as you lay in the grass, the bristles itching your back when your hoodie rides up.
Lying down beside you, his hand still in yours, he gazes up at the sky. “I thought that one day,” he starts, tracing the big dippers outline with his eyes, “that when I said I hoped you’d find requited love one day, you’d realize I was talking about me. That I would be the one to do that for you.”
“Then why did you get with whats-her-face.” You ask quietly, heart burning at his confession. Leaning your head against the itchy grass, you study his side profile. While in the midst of burning every single difference in his face compared to the last time you saw him, Pedri doesn’t look at you.
“Because I told myself you could do better, that you deserved better and there was someone out there that would love you better than I could.” He does turn to you now, “but I was wrong. Nobody will love you nearly as much as I love you.”
You felt dizzy, like you were floating outside of your body. This had to be a dream, right? You had dreamt of a confession similar to this since you were a teenager.
“Say something.” Pedri whispers, eyes flickering across your face trying to decipher what you were feeling throughout your long silence.
“I..” You cough lightly, a small laugh slipping through. “I can’t believe I let you push me away.”
His gaze drops to the grass for a moment before it raises back to you. “I can’t believe I pushed you away.” He admits, “i’m sorry.”
Forcing w small smile, you take your hand out of Pedri’s, pushing yourself up onto your side. “I’m sorry I never told you.”
“Tell me..?” He tries not to frown at the loss of contact, but does anyways, telling himself it was just because he didn’t understand what you were saying.
“I love you.” You frown, “I love you so much I ruined a potential marriage without even knowing if you felt the same.”
Pedri pushes himself up onto his elbow, his face mere inches from yours. “Is it terrible of me to say i’m glad you did?”
A soft laugh escapes your lips and you shake your head. “Not terrible at all.” Your eyes fall to his lips, quickly flickering back to his eyes. “What would be more terrible would be you making me go another minute without knowing what it’s like to kiss you, no?”
Pedri’s eyes roll with amusement. He cups your cheek, mumbling, “that would be a crime,” before his soft lips were against yours.
pls pls pls plsssss im begging for a part 2 of that raindrop fisting
please and thank you sir hypnone
(from here) “It’s actually a wonder you’ve never tried putting your whole hand into me,” Dewdrop whispers, moving his claw up Rain’s forearm as he shakes. “We should try later. Wanna see your wrist buried inside me while my slick is dripping down this pretty veiny forearm all the way to your elbow.”
“You–you’d let me do that to you?” Rain whimpers when they go outside, the first thing he’s said since the movie has ended. Dewdrop is confused for a second—heaving nearly forgotten what he had said to the water ghoul already. When he remembers, he nods. “Promise?”
“Yes, Rainy,” he chuckles, “there’s not many things I wouldn’t let you do to me.”
The water ghoul takes that to heart and asks Dewdrop to let him do it the next day. He hasn’t changed his mind, so in no time at all he ends up spread out on Rain’s bed with him kneeling on the edge and three of his fingers buried in the fire ghoul’s cunt.
“So pretty,” Rain sighs, his face resting against the inside of Dewdrop’s thigh as he fingers him. It’s slow and indulgent; both so he’s properly stretched out, but also because the water ghoul simply enjoys having his mate’s soft and hot walls wrapped around his fingers.
He’d stay like that forever, if he could.
“Do four,” Dewdrop orders. He is enjoying it, but the knowledge of what their goal is makes him impatient, “put four in.”
Rain hums in acknowledgement and obliges, sliding his pinky finger in alongside the rest. There’s no resistance or pain—Dewdrop is perfectly loose and wet.
And that is why it’s only a moment before he demands more. “Do it. I’m ready, Rainy, get it all in.”
“Are you…you sure?”
“Please,” Dewdrop whines and Rain is powerless. He pulls his fingers back and tucks his thumb in.
“Deep breath, droplet.”
The water ghoul gnaws on his bottom lip as he pushes in.
It’s tight, so tight. He’s almost scared it won’t fit.
He’d be heartbroken.
But then Dewdrop lets out a gasp and Rain’s knuckles pop in and it’s in.
“Oh, Lucifer,” he whines, “you did it, it’s in. My whole hand is in.”
“Uh-huh,” the fire ghoul can’t choke out anything else. He’s so full, it’s as if Rain has his fist against his lungs. Dewdrop rises up on his forearms, he wants to see—he needs to see—but when he does look, he can only fall back limply with a moan on his lips.
“Rain…Rainy,” he cries out, “look up h–here.”
It’s nearly painful for Rain to tear his eyes away from the way the fire ghoul’s stretched around his wrist and a single droplet of slick running down his forearm, but he does. He complies; he looks up and his mouth goes dry.
“You’re so deep,” Dewdrop groans as Rain reaches out with his free hand, tracing the outline of his other hand on the fire ghoul’s stomach with gentle fingertips.
“Can’t believe you’re letting me do this,” he moans with his eyes wide and glassy.
“I’m all yours,” the other pants, “all yours to play with and use.”
Promises under the stars - Jude ending
Part 1
Part 1 - Jude pov
Part 2
Long awaited happy ending I TOLD U I WOULD DO IT SEE. pretty plz read part 2 before this i’m begging plz plzlplzpzlzpzlzpzl
—
Word count - 2.2k+
Watch it - MORE DIVORCE WOWOW. Carlos is so mean in this one sorreh.
Guys this feels like the end of an era like I’m so sad to see it end this was a JOURNEY
——-
Things change. As most things do, life moves on.
Jude remains in the back of your mind. After years of working away from the laughs that taunt you in the wind.
It comes back to him.
Your husband takes a back seat and Jude once again becomes the man who’s at the forefront of your mind.
While you’re pregnant with Carlos’s baby you thumb through pictures of Jude. Funny isn’t it. So funny you want to rip your own hair out.
You don’t know if it’s your own behavior that sparks a change but there’s a shift.
After the second altercation with Jude, things change. Carlos does less talking and more observing. He asks you to share your location at all times and you have no qualms. Not at first.
But it begins to get to much.
Where are you going, who are you with. What are you doing. Come home. Do you have to go out. No don’t go. Don’t do this. Don’t do that.
You half think it’s because of the baby and he’s simply worried for the both of you. It’s his fatherly nature kicking in.
But there’s a breaking point and it comes when you come home on a Sunday night.
——
“Hey baby.” You smile, setting down your little shopping spree for the baby. Just a few essentials. Blankets and bottles.
He doesn’t return your greeting. Head down in silence while he stares at the wall.
“Where were you?”
You frown, “not this again-“
“No. You keep going off to places without letting me know first I thought we talked about this.” he hisses.
You lean against the counter. ”I stopped to get a little snack?”
He shrugs. “You could have waited till you got home.”
You scoff. ”i'm pregnant Carlos, most things can't wait. You know how it is.”
”I don’t even know who you are anymore.” He mumbles.
“What did you say?”
He stands, facing you with brows furrowed. “Ever since Jude you keep running off. Are you seeing him?”
”Are you crazy?”
”i dont know look at how you’re acting. I’ve given you everything, and you keep sneaking off.”
”Im pregnant with your child for fucks sake and you think im with another man?”
”I’m not sure if its even my child anymore. Funny how he turned up again when you started to show.”
Your skin bristles. ”I’m going to give you a chance to take it back Carlos or else.”
”or what? You’ll go back to him? Maybe I should go and knock someone else up so you can know what it feels like.” his voice raises to a yell.
That’s just the thing isn’t it. Yo already know what it feels like. You watched it happen with Jude and now he accuses you of the very thing that almost drove you mad.
Tears burn in your eyes. You don't stick around for any more, taking your keys and walking to the door.
“Don’t you dare leave. You leave and you won’t see me ever again do you hear me. “ he screams, finger pointed at you.
You look back for a moment. Gone is the Carlos you love and replaced with this beast that hurls insults and accusations. You walk out, driving away to anywhere, anywhere at all as long as its away from him.
Your second heart break comes from Jude just like the first. Only this time indirectly and crumbles a marriage you once treasured more than anything.
You can't face his family. Certainly not his mother. Not after this.
——-
You go back to your families home. Back in your home town.
It shocks them, how you turn up at their door. You drove the whole way back, just like you did leaving.
Your mother cries for you and you don't have the heart to explain your end in full.
You’re due in about 3 months. And your days and filled with sorrow. You try you best. You know it’s not good for the baby. It’s a girl you find out. Carlos always wanted a girl. You try you really do but things are near impossible on your own.
You get a call from his mother, appolgizes tumbling from her tongue. Pleading with you for forgiveness. She tells you there’s always a spot for you in her home. If you’d like you can move in. They’ll take care of you here.
You thank her between sniffles but you say you don’t know. You just need time.
You’re nearing a breaking point yourself.
——-
Time is running out for you to make sense of things.
You miss Carlos, or well you miss the Carlos you once loved. The man who bought you a home just because he could and he listened to you.
The man who was so sure of loving you.
The only thing he seems sure of is pretending you don’t exist.
Maybe if you would have just taken Jude back when he first came to you
——-
Jude hears. Or course he does.
He promised himself to stop meddling in your life. To stop keeping up with you and just leave you alone. But when news reaches him. A piece of him breaks.
It’s his fault isn’t it. You had a home. A life. A marriage, a husband and very soon a little family.
There he goes again, ruining it.
He finds your contact info and it lays in his phone, u able to bring himself to press call. What buisness does he have in your life anymore truly.
What more can he do, say, feel?
The fields have long burned, only ash and ember in their wake. And still he recognizes them in a heartbeat. He knows you will too. For he knows you.
How can he apologize in a language you’ll understand?
——
You get a call from an unknown number while you leave another appointment. Same old same old, try to relax stress isn’t good for the baby blah blah blah. If you could relax you would but it isn’t that easy isn’t it.
You pick up before looking properly and a familiar voice comes to life. Jude.
He can’t stay away it seems. He can’t leave you on your own.
“I heard what happened. I’m so sorry. If I knew i would have never-“
”its okay Jude.” You sigh. ”its not your fault. He just- changed and it scared me so bad.”
His voice hasn’t changed all that much, just a tad deeper.
You don’t blame him. You’ve forgiven him for everything. There’s a million ways Carlos could have handled things and he chose to blame you for it all. Choose the path of accusation. That is no one’s fault but his own.
“Do you need help?” Timid. Hesitant.
You pause. What else do you have to loose. The very least you need to figure something out for your baby.
You don’t have friends close enough to call up. Not even friends when you think about it. Acquaintances at best.
You consider taking up Carlos’s mother on the offer. Your baby would be well taken care of. Brought up in luxury and comfort. Nothing would ever be more than a stone's throw away.
But you run the risk of seeing him again. And you know if he were to find out it would create a whole other problem.
Your savings will cover 2 years max if you really stretch them out. And you know your parents cant keep you under their roof forever. You do need help. But you don’t know how to ask. How to accept.
He picks up on your silence. “No string attached I promise I just-“ he takes a deep breath, “- I can't do nothing. Not when you’re going through everything that you are. “
”Thank you Jude.” You sniffle. Tears forming in your eyes while you look into the sky.
——-
Jude sends movers to help you move your things into an apartment by the end of the week. All you have to do is get into your car and follow. You need to do something about the car. Its technically under your name. The one he got you as a gift.
You feel so out of lace in it. Maybe you’ll sell it. If not for the money to erase any traces of him for good.
Jude visits you the following week.
He’s grown. Oh how hes grown. A man now. He gives you the spare keys with a small smile. No red ribbon.
“Its set for a years rent and all. No need to worry. I figured you’d want to stay near your family so.”
You give him a hug, unable to stop yourself. Even if your belly makes it awkward he wraps his arms around you. He’s smiling.
“I cant thank you enough.” You’re crying again. Tears pooling in your eyes.
He helps you sit down on the couch, giving you his arm to steady yourself on. “Hey hey. It’s alright. I got you. No need to thank me.”
”why did you come?” you mumble. Hand still on his.
“I think you know the answer to that.” He picks at his pants.
”After all this time you still do?” You still love me?
“I never stoped. I told you as much.”
You nod. “Thank you again anyway.”
”Call me if you need anything. There's a chauffeur I use when I’m in the area. I'll give you his info too. Whatever you go give him a call. Or if you need any shopping done he’ll take care of it.”
”Are you sure?”
He smiles, “more than sure. Go rest now you’ve had a long week.”
———
You only hear from Carlos when he sends the divorce papers. You dont think twice. Signing them and sending them off to his lawyers.
His only request is to see his baby. You refuse at first but his lawyers are firm. So you come to an agreement one weekend at the end of every month. Starting when you recover.
You end up keeping the car.
You want nothing else from him. Just to never see him again. You can’t accept any apology after the way he disrespected you.
You mean it. More than you meant it with Jude.
——
Jude ends up coming to appointments when hes in town. You don’t know how it happens. But he goes. Holding your hand and letting you lean on him every step of the way. You never say no. In a way you need him. In many ways you do.
It’s familiar. Being with Jude. You slip back into old habits and he never corrects you. Just gives you a tight smile.
Every break he spends with you and within an instant the baby comes. Carlos is not allowed anywhere near you. You name her after your favorite flower and give her your last name.
She’s your whole world. You can barely hold back your sobs when they hand her over to you.
Jude drives you home from the hospital and skips pre season training to be with you.
He helps you with her and for a moment it's like this is the ending you always dreamed of. A glimpse of what could have been. If you only ignore that it’s Carlos’s child, you are not with Jude and you’re closer to his pity case than his lover. But you can dream.
——
“She’s crying again.” Jude mumbles, woken up from her cries.
He’s been sleeping on the couch. To make it easier for the both of you.
You groan, picking her up gently and trying to get her back to sleep. Nothing works her cries only get louder and you are on your last straw.
“Jude can you come here.”
He pads to your room, opening the door meekly as you stand with her in your arms. “Can you hold her while I make her bottle please.”
He nods, opening his arms while you gently set her in his arms. She fits in his embrace like she was made for it.
You come back with a bottle to your baby softly sleeping agaisnt his chest. Little cheeks snug agaisnt him while she breaths softly.
You mouth a silent thank you and let him out her back inside her crib. Tucking her under her blanket and giving her a little pat to the head.
You could get used to this.
——
You fall for Jude once more. As your little girl turns one you find a rhythm with him. She even calls him dad. You never correct her. There’s no need. He does all a father would and more.
Carlos drops from her life before she can even walk. You don’t care.
You make the trip to Spain yearly so she can meet her grandparents at the very least. This isn’t their fault. You hold nothing against them. His mother blames herself for her sons actions and you know nothing you say will change it.
Jude retires before he can turn 35. And you marry. Nothing outlandish. Just you and him and your baby at the court house.
You get ice cream on the way home and watch her favorite movies till she falls asleep.
“We made it back to each other in the end. “ He kisses your lips. Soft. Gentle.
You hum, pressing yourself closer against him. “Always you and me.”
The promises you made under the stars have found you after all. In your own home with your baby you love more than anything. Raising her and walking through life hand in hand. Even after everything, you don’t think anyone else would come back for you. Fight for you the way Jude has.
Your peace has come.
