Things I've noticed while rewatching 'Once Upon A Time':
In episode 1x10 '7:15 am' snow white is about to erase her memories of charming but he sends her a letter declaring his love and uses the line 'not a day goes by that I have not thought of you'.
In episode 3x11 'Going Home' Emma has to erase her memories to escape the curse and Hook uses the same line charming did on snow 'Theres not a day that will go by that I won't think of you.'

1x03 Snow Falls or 1x10 7:15 AM? Snowing episodes fight! XD
How dare you!!
These are my two favorite episodes in the whole show! I watch both, like, every birthday, just as a treat, and sometimes throw "Hat Trick" in there as well.
I have to go with "7:15 am" because it's my favorite episode of OUAT. "Snow Falls" is wonderful and perfect, and I love watching them fall in love in the Enchanted Forest, MM's loneliness and pining in Storybrooke, and her instant friendship with Emma, as well as Emma's heartwarming decision to stay with her new, obviously lonely friend in the end. My heart!
But "7:15 am" just does things to me emotionally! MM practically admitting to stalking him, lol. Her desperation to catch a glimpse of him every morning, David saving her from falling off a goddamn cliff, the heavy rain (I love heavy rain scenes), the parallels between her and the bird potentially being forever alone, and her adorable desperation to help it, the dark cabin scene (I love dark scenes), MM's emotional confession (which makes me cry), the revelation that David went to Granny's at 7:15 just to see her too, the almost kiss, the "David no, it's too painful" handhold, Kathryn appearing at her and David's house (I love Kathryn and I love their house, xD), Snow breaking Charming's heart in the Enchanted Forest (ouch!), Emma supporting MM at the table by holding her hand at 7:15 am, David and MM somehow turning up at Granny's at the same time anyway, the kiss at the end where the camera swirls around them, MM's hat in that scene, Regina being a sneaky sneak and watching them kiss.
Can you tell I could go on for years? It's just too perfect and puts me on such an emotional roller coaster. Needless to say, I am Snowing trash.

Once Upon a Time 1x10 “7:15 AM” Review
Tumblr media
Reviews 1x01 1x02 1x03 1x04 1x05 1x06  1x07 1x08 1x09
Right off the bat I have to say that I loved the Enchanted Forest story between Snow and Charming, but I hated the Storybrooke storyline between them. The main reason for this is because Snow and Charming are actually married.  We’ve seen the marriage. It opened up the series after Snow was woken up with True Love’s Kiss. I have no vested interest in David flailing around trying to decide between Kathryn and Mary Margaret because it’s not real and I doubt it will matter whenever the curse is broken. End rant.
Synopsis: In the Enchanted Forest Snow receives a letter from Charming telling her he loves her and he’ll call off his wedding for her. When Snow goes to tell Charming she loves him too, she is threatened by King George and ends up taking a forgetting potion to forget about Charming. In Storybrooke, Mary Margaret and David continue to try and ignore their attraction.
Opening: Hooded figure in the woods
While I don’t usually comment on the opening, anyone have any idea if that’s supposed to be Red or Snow? They both wear hoods in this episode, so it could be either.
Character Observations:
Snow/Mary Margaret: Snow just gets the brunt of everything this episode doesn’t she? We find out that it’s been at least a month since she met Charming and she’s obviously been thinking about him the whole time. She learns that his nuptials are happening in two days time and wishes she could get Charming out of her head. Red tells her about Rumplestiltskin. Snow apparently wants to go “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” on her memories of Charming, even though she only met him once and they fought the entire time (unless we just haven’t seen that part of their history yet). Snow contemplates taking the potion when a messenger dove comes by with a note from Charming saying that if he comes to the castle and tells him she loves him he’ll call off the wedding. So of course Snow sneaks into the castle and immediately gets captured by one of King George’s guards. I thought she was supposed to be pretty savvy at this point. Now she’s stuck in the castle prison, along with Grumpy and Snow tells him that she is in love and she won’t let anyone take that from her. Now, luckily, Stealthy the dwarf comes and rescues them, but they run into guards and Stealthy doesn’t make it, and Snow threatens to burn the castle down if they don’t let Grumpy go. Snow gets taken to King George and here is where it gets bad. Snow has to choose between her love for Charming or living without him, because George threatens to kill Charming if he leaves Abigail. Snow puts on a pretty strong face when rejecting Charming, but even he can see that she’s not telling the entire truth. Poor Snow cries as she leaves her love. She was possibly getting to live a normal life with Charming and now it’s been ripped away. No wonder she still takes the potion after Grumpy’s speech not to.
Mary Margaret has become a stalker. She waits for David at the diner every morning at 7:15 to watch him get coffee to go, for himself and Kathryn. And, as she tells Emma, she pretty much knows the rest of his schedule as well. Mary Margaret makes the comment that she wishes there was a magic cure to get over love. Oh the parallels. Then Mary Margaret discovers that Kathryn might be pregnant and that really upsets her. I’m sure this is why she gets overly invested in getting the trapped dove she discovers back to her flock. She is identifying too much with this poor dove who apparently will be lonely if she is separated from her migratory flock. So, since the dove is fine, Mary Margaret decides to go back out into the woods, despite the storm that is coming, and try and find the flock. And because of that storm, she gets spooked by lightning and falls down a ravine, where, luckily, David rescues her because he knew she’d be stupid enough to try and reunite the dove and it’s flock, so he followed her. I guess the stalking goes two ways. I mean, yay, Mary Margaret didn’t die falling into the ravine because David happened to be following her. And then of course we get one of the best rom com tropes; it starts raining and they happen to find an abandoned cabin that they have to seek shelter in. Mary Margaret basically admits her stalkerish tendencies to David and how she’s miserable and it’s painful to be around him. Then they almost kiss when David also admits to being a stalker. I guess these two really deserve each other. But then Mary Margaret remembers that Kathryn was buying a pregnancy test and she ends up telling David that his wife might be pregnant. Mary Margaret finally tells David they need to forget each other. The next day Mary Margaret decides to get her coffee at 7:45 instead of 7:15 and still runs into David, because he had the same idea to avoid Mary Margaret. Also, Kathryn isn’t pregnant. And so, like the two love struck idiots that they are, they decide to kiss, right in the middle of the street, where anyone can see them, especially Regina.
Charming/David: Charming is actually a pretty stand up guy in this episode. He knows what he wants (Snow) and what he doesn’t (Abigail). Even though he knows it could ruin the future of the kingdom, he would rather be happy and be with Snow than marry someone as a business arrangement. Even after George tells Charming to forget this other woman he loves, he still writes a letter to Snow telling her ‘not a day goes by that I’ve not thought of you’ and asks her to come to him so they can be together. Unfortunately, Snow breaks his heart instead due to George’s threats. We next see him going to Red’s cottage to find Snow, presumably to tell her he broke things off with Abigail. So even though Snow broke his heart, he is still going to find her because he believes they should be together.
David is the most infuriating character on this show. He tells Mary Margaret that he feels like he has two conflicting lives, one where he has memories of feelings for Kathryn and then his real feelings for Mary Margaret. I don’t know if it’s the curse that is preventing him from leaving Kathryn completely, but he can’t just tell Kathryn he’ll work on his marriage and then go and kiss Mary Margaret because he’s been stalking her. And even though he doesn’t seem to understand how he feels about Kathryn, he’s still sleeping with her if she thinks she might be pregnant. And Mary Margaret is trying to stay away from him, but David is not helping the situation. His backstory has been all about choices and that seems to be the one thing he can’t make when it comes to Mary Margaret and Kathryn.
The Stranger: We learn he has a way with words, and the reason for that is he happens to be a writer. That box on the back of his motorcycle, and old fashioned typewriter. I do like how he tells Emma that he might just torture her by never telling her what’s in the box while he carts it around town and to mysterious places until it drives her insane. Or Emma can agree to let him buy her a drink and he’ll tell her. Heh! He’s funny. We still don’t have a name for him. He tells Emma the town provides inspiration and Emma asks if he’s been there before, his response is “I didn’t say that.”  He doesn’t seem to deal in yes or no answers, and he seems determined not to play his hand yet, whatever it may be.
Kathryn: What can I say about Kathryn. She’s trying to save her marriage. She feels like David isn’t really there, even though they’re obviously having a sexual relationship. She’s happy she’s not pregnant because their marriage is shaky. She suggests going to counseling to work on it. Ugh! Why did the curse have to make Kathryn so sweet?
Rumplestiltskin: Snow calls on him to get a forgetting potion. He goes on and on about how awful love is and how only the strongest potion can make you forget about it. Seems to me that someone is bitter about a past love. He takes Snow’s hair as payment. Hmmm. He also tells Snow he was looking forward to meeting her. Was this a premonition that he had about her or did her just hear through the grapevine that she was searching for him?
King George: He is a complete ass. I get that he’s trying to save his kingdom, but it feels more like he’s trying to save his lifestyle as opposed to his kingdom. He’s still throwing lavish balls and not trying to feed his kingdom. He’s banking on the treasures and riches he’ll get from Midas when Charming and Abigail get married. He has absolutely no love for Charming whatsoever. He is a bargaining chip. He even tells Snow that he would rather kill Charming rather than him leave Abigail, because if he’s assassinated, Midas would most likely still give the kingdom the money. Talk about cold-hearted. I wonder if George is still alive and roaming around Storybrooke.
Emma: She is tasked with two things this episode: making sure Mary Margaret stops stalking David, questioning the Stranger as to what he is doing in town. She flat out fails to keep Mary Margaret and David away from each other. But she does talk to the Stranger and at least finds out what’s in his box.
Regina: She’s not so meddlesome this episode. She asks Mary Margaret not to tell anyone that Kathryn has a pregnancy test because it’s their business.  She wasn’t even rude about it. When she asks Emma to look into the Stranger, it’s out of genuine concern for Henry, not because no one should be able to get into Storybrooke. She actually seems sincere in this episode.
Grumpy: So while he’s not nearly as grumpy as his name implies, he does give Snow some great advice. He’s apparently in prison for falling pray to a diamond scam and ended up with stolen goods. He was trying to buy an engagement ring for his ex-girlfriend to win her back. He tells Snow that he wouldn’t erase it for anything as his pain is what makes him who he is. It makes him Grumpy. He invites Snow to stay with him and the other dwarfs.
Henry: Not necessarily the narrator this time around, but asking all the questions.
Questions:
Does Snow know Charming’s real name is James?
Does Snow live in a forest in King George’s kingdom?
When Rumplestiltskin talks about how awful love is, is he referring to his wife that supposedly left him, or has he found love since becoming the Dark One?
What does Rumplestiltskin want Snow’s hair for?
Where is Mary Margaret walking? It looks like the road that leads out of town. Why is she out in the middle of nowhere?
Whose cabin is that in the middle of the woods?
How did the Stranger find Storybrooke?
Why is the Stranger using an old typewriter instead of a laptop? Is it just for the mysteriousness?
Who is the Stranger? Has he been to Storybrooke before? Could he be from the EF and got here a different way?
How does burning hay and straw make an entire stone castle go up in flames? I wondered this in Desperate Souls as well, and here is Snow threatening to do the exact same thing.
How does Charming know where Red’s cottage is? Has he been there before with Snow?
Observations:
Snow is reading The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne in the diner.
Interesting putting Snow and Red as good friends. This seems to be a reference to another Grimm Fairy Tale, Snow-white and Rose-red, in which they are sisters.
Red delivers food stuff to Snow once a month.
King George’s castle is the one Snow and Charming live at in the Pilot.
Grumpy is whistling Heigh-Ho in the jail cell (he was whistling Whistle While You Work when we see him in a jail cell the first time in the Pilot).
The Stranger looks familiar to Regina.
The scene of Snow and the dwarfs is the same scene the Evil Queen saw in her mirror last episode. So now we know this took place at the same time as the Hansel and Gretel storyline.
I get that the writers wanted to parallel that Snow and Charming kind of went through the same thing Mary Margaret and David are going through, but they literally had almost the exact same storyline. The main difference being that Charming was willing to leave Abigail for Snow, whereas David isn’t willing to leave Kathryn. And I get that David is under a curse and for some reason under the curse he is unwilling to leave Kathryn, but it looks like David and Snow are now going be having an ‘affair’. The problem I have with this is that they aren’t really having an affair and I have no vested interest in David and Mary Margaret trying to resist their feelings because I know they are supposed to be together. And no matter how nice Kathryn is, I just want her to stop being blind and just kick David out already, or make up her mind that this marriage can’t be saved.

hi! been thinking a lot about izzy’s maiming... bit early/too tired for me to put together more clear thoughts on the subject now. but: how do you think the injury will (or will not) impact the next season? specifically, izzy and ed’s relationship, as well as izzy and the crew’s relationship. will things get infected, like with lucius’s finger? what is stede going to think when (or if) he returns? if ed is willing to maim someone like izzy, who he’s ostensibly very close to, or was close to at some point, what does that mean for stede, especially when he and edward have some kind of conflict with each other? do you think it’s likely for stede to brush off izzy’s maiming, simply because he (presumably) doesnt like the guy? especially because it seems like stede fully endorses (or at least romanticizes) violence, as long as it isnt him directly doing the deed?
this got a bit rambling and long and slightly off topic, but would love your thoughts regardless. hope you have a good day/night/etc!
Before I get into this I want to say thanks for the ask, I love having food for thought and this really did get my brain wandering.
So, I think the first thing to address here is the show length itself and what that means for the plot. David Jenkins has said he wants three seasons, presumably at 10 x 30 minute episodes. That's about 15 hours of content total, which is devastating and I would like 1500 hours of OFMD thanks, but we can't always get what we want.
That means that there is a lot less time to develop character and sub-plots in the show than there is in a show that, for example, runs for 7 seasons with 20 episodes each. It's the reason why we don't get to see a lot of Lucius and Pete hooking up and it's shown through the gaze of Izzy's subplot of that episode, it's a good combination, two birds with one stone, and allows for getting through multiple plots without having to sacrifice any of it. Same reason we don't see Frenchie and Wee John agreeing to give up the room before 1x10. Time.
All that said, judging by the fact Izzy is limping and using a cane at the end of 1x10, I don't think the toe is going to be brushed off and forgotten. I think the writers have made a commitment to it and will follow through in whatever way that requires (this is also why I believe Izzy will get more screen time in season 2 - this is a big thing to give to the character to carry, I think he'll take the slot of Jim being the main sub plot, because Jim's sub plot is mostly done (but Jim will still be a big part! It's just that until something new develops there, their plot has been finished? I'm hoping we'll get more of Fang, too, for similar other-characters-had-their-moment reasons)).
So, now on to answer your questions.
I think the injury will impact the next season, probably as a way of developing Izzy's character somewhat. From what people have been saying, losing a pinkie toe is a much bigger deal than I realized (and, potentially, than Ed realized, as we're not super conscious of our pinkie toes and the effect they have on our gait and our balance and our skillsets).
If I was writing the show, I would have some big raid go wrong in early season 2 while Ed is still in Kraken mode, and I would make Ed watch as Izzy lost a fight because his balance was fucked up and his fighting stances were no longer viable, and it fucked up everything about his excellent fencing abilities, and then I would make it that Ed had to step in and save him and suddenly have the realization of what he did, of what he caused, of how, because of him, Izzy would be dead if Ed hadn't been there to save him at the last moment. Throw in some nice injury for spice too, have Ed sitting over Izzy's bedside as he fought for his life. Parallels. I'd use that to snap Ed out of Kraken mode, rather than Stede. Izzy is what snapped him into it, Izzy should snap him out of it.
But I am not writing the show. I am, instead, probably going to turn that into a fanfic, so keep an eye out for that.
Realistically, I think it'll affect their relationship, yes, because before Izzy could say whatever the fuck he wanted to Ed, you know? In 1x03 when Ed is demanding they invite Stede aboard, Izzy does this adorable little whiny, "Oh, Edward, can't I just send the boys?" and pouts up a storm and Ed is like, "Nooooo Izzy, I want you to handle this," and Izzy is like "Ugh, finEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeee" and stompies off in a huff and it's god damn cute and makes me laugh every time because he's so casual with him, even while standing in a sort of military attention stance? And he keeps cutting his gaze over to him like "D: D: D: really? D: really edward? D: really? you do this to me? D:" (I actually think Ed was enjoying fucking with him a little in this scene, teasing him for losing to Stede, teasing him about handling it himself etc. It breaks up the boredom and it's harmless.)
Then, in 1x04, Izzy goes on a real tizzy; he tells Edward he's an insane shell of a man, a twat, he flips him off, he storms away. And Edward... mutters that he needs to deal with the Izzy situation, goes on down there, basically praises him for his abilities and knowledge, talks gently to him (listen to the way he says Izzy's name to get his attention, it's really sweet), is potentially manipulative depending on how much he meant the Kill-Stede plan, which is up for debate in fandom (I think he meant it 100%, though intended to put it off a long time and forget about it like an abandoned knitting project, but I also think he came up with the plan on the fly to keep Izzy with him, which I don't think was necessary really; he only had to ask. He didn't know that though), offers him a ship, says he needs him to stay.
The other part you should focus on is how Izzy responds. He went on a tirade against Edward, a real doozy! If my friends spoke to me like that I'd be pissed for days, and I'm not scary Blackbeard man. But Izzy went on this tirade, called him a twat, flipped him off, and then... does not cringe or flinch. He apologizes (though he doesn't use the word sorry, he does apologize! Not all apologies need the word sorry. He says he regrets what he said and that he didn't mean it and doesn't think those things - that's an apology, and Edward accepts it as such) but he doesn't simper or beg for forgiveness. He doesn't expect to be hit or punished, doesn't expect to be forced off the ship, doesn't anticipate any real blowback, actually. There is no hesitance or distress when Ed comes over. He does not expect puishment.
Now, compare that with 1x10 when he, again, launches on a tirade against Ed which is honestly pretty much similar to the one in 1x04. He says Ed is batshit and fucked up, that he serves Blackbeard not whatever this mess is, and that he's done, in one way or another. The only major difference is the fact he says, "Ed better watch his fucking back," but considering in 1x04 he was flipping him off, calling him a twat and actively quitting, I don't feel like this was more of a threat than his declaration of being done and the middle fingers of rage. He also knew that Ed wasn't going to hurt him over the betrayal that nearly got Stede killed. He got one punch and continued to not flinch or cringe or be worried about further punishment. He knew he was safe. He knew he was right (see: the speech he makes about looking after his captain first and foremost, being loyal to Ed and no one else).
Except in 1x10, Izzy gets punished. Izzy gets really punished. Which is not just jarring because this behavior has been not just tolerated but generally expected from the seems of it (Edward is not shocked that Izzy gets tizzy in 1x04, he's just like, "Yep another day of this! Let it out, pal.") because Izzy gets in tizzies and that's just. izzy's personality. and Ed likes Izzy, so he likes all of him. It's okay.
But suddenly getting punished for that behavior, to the point of permanent maiming? Holy fuck that's a shockwave and a half. There is no freaking way that Izzy is going to feel comfortable or safe speaking his mind to Ed. There's no way there's going to be the little, "Oh, Edward, can't I just send the boys D:", there's no way Izzy will feel okay being his rough-around-the-edges moody self, there's no way he will feel good or comfortable calling Ed on his shit.
(hi yes i just devastated myself, actually)
Which actually puts Ed (and everyone else) in a boatload of danger, because when Izzy calls Ed on his shit he's usually right. Ed even admits it at the end of 1x04: Izzy was right. They would have died right there. They were all expecting to, because Ed fucked it up. Context clues tell me that Izzy has been spinning Ed's plates for a long fucking time, and that by virtue of the flag being so scary people just surrender and how god damn smart and on the money Izzy is, they've been scraping by with their plans panning out without a hitch. Ed is a brilliant strategical mind, but I read him as having ADHD, and you know what ADHDers (especially unmedicated ones) do? We fuck up the details. We make fantastic plans but we mess up the minutiae. And that is where, in situations like these, people like Izzy come in, because he sees the details and makes the necessary adjustments.
In fact, I can cite a proving source: the full moon. Edward knew the way the tides go, that the fog would roll in, he knew when the full moon would be, he knew everything he needed to know for his grand plan to go off perfectly!
...but he forgot it was a leap year.
You know who didn't forget it was a leap year? Izzy Hands. No one else said, "Um, it's not the date you think it is." Izzy did. Izzy spoke up.
If Izzy is no longer comfortable speaking up? Whew. They're in trouble now.
And if Ed notices that Izzy cringes, flinches, is hesitant, loses his brashness, doesn't speak up etc, that could, depending on Ed's mental state, go one way or the other: option A is that it cracks Ed because fuck, this guy has always felt completely comfortable being a twat to Blackbeard himself and now Ed has even broken him? He's even managed to make Izzy terrified of him? Fuck! Option B is that he will get angry. Angry Izzy didn't say, "Boss it's a leap year," and so they ended up in trouble. Angry Izzy didn't pull his weight by questioning the minutiae as he expects him to.
Continuing with your questions: I don't see the toe getting infected. We've been there and done that and the solution to the infection was amputation, so I don't see us going back there. Plus, Lucius's finger was directly related to Buttons having his summer teeth, or whatever it was, which were wooden, iirc, and soaking in the disgusting juices of his mouth, which is why Lucius got an infection in that bite. Edward used very clean-looking scissors, and I imagine Izzy treated the fuck out of the wound.
I'd be more concerned about Izzy getting food poisoning, actually.
I feel like Stede, too, could go one of two ways, and I'm hoping it'll be a sub-third option. One way is he's horrified because what the fuck ed, and that's one of the things that makes Ed realize he's gone way too far. The other way is he's like, "Meh, it's Izzy, Izzy deserves worse," because...? I don't actually know? Izzy did nothing wrong in 1x02 lmao, he bought the hostages fairly, and Stede stole them off him, and then in 1x03 Stede was just, weirdly aggressive towards him in Spanish Jackie's bar?
(My feeling that will likely never be confirmed or denied in canon is that I feel like there was an attraction and Stede didn't know what the fuck to do with that now he was in a situation where that could actually be explored and so he lashed out (which also made handling his attraction to Edward later easier; he'd already done the frightened lashing at Izzy, so Edward got the acceptance).)
But either way, Stede was just. oddly aggro against Izzy from the beginning. Izzy did fuck all to Stede, and was in fact actively fucked over by Stede (and his buddies, one of which broke Ivan's nose? Poor Ivan???) and yet it's Stede who's like "Ed, do you know this guy? He's a real dick!"
(That could be a product of a small slice of poor writing? Eg, the writer knew Izzy was characterized as a dick and thusly Stede did too? But I don't really buy that. And I prefer my "Hot pirate, oh fuck" reasoning for Stede's weird amount of aggro when he's so placid towards pretty much everyone else, even the woman with a knife to his nose.)
(Nonny, you thought your ask was long, wait until you get this response LMAO)
My hope is that Stede doesn't really need to think much about it at all? Here's how I would like to see it go (though not word-for-word because this is garbage. I mean the vibes):
Stede: I love you and I want to be with you Edward: Stede, you don't want that, I'm a monster. Stede: You're not a monster. Edward: I marooned our crew on a desert island to die. Stede: They're fine! I scooped 'em up! No worries there. Edward: I killed Lucius. Stede: Oh, no, he's fine! Fang tackled him the second we came aboard, so you might have missed him, but no he clutched onto one of my beefier books and used it as a raft and we found him on the way here! Edward: I CUT OFF IZZY'S TOE!!!!!!!!!! Stede:
Tumblr media
Stede: Did he deserve it? Edward: Edward: Edward, devastated, his voice cracking: No.
"Did he deserve it?" feels like something Stede would ask. And it feels like that kind of question might be what makes Ed realize that no, Izzy did not deserve it.
(This may be getting written into one of my fics too lmao)
Point being, Stede's opinion on the toe might not matter all that much, but rather what Ed feels Stede might think about it and how it makes him question his own actions might matter more instead.
Further into your questions: Ed being willing to maim Izzy says buckets about how he's willing to treat people he loves (in whatever way) if they get on the wrong side of him, and Ed absolutely has to make peace with and set that aside before he can be with Stede!
Izzy was a dick but Stede abandoned him. There is no fucking way that Ed isn't misdirecting his rage at Stede towards the closest person he can take it out on: Izzy. It's Stede that he wanted to maim, because Stede maimed him. But Stede is gone. There's no closure, no absolution, no figuring it out. Stede just upped and left and so Edward was left with grief, and then rage, which got pointed at Izzy, the crew and Stede's items.
I think I said this in another meta, actually, but Ed needs to learn restraint when he's angry before he gets into a lover's spat with Stede. So far they haven't had any actual fights, and people do fight, especially when they inhabit close quarters with no escape for long periods of time (look at how many relationships dissolved during the pandemic, and how domestic abuse cases went up) and if this is how Ed reacts to someone chewing him out for honestly quite valid reasons and being a bit of a dick?
Stede's in actual danger.
Which I think is also why some people act like Izzy deserved it, brought it on himself and that Ed wasn't actually doing it, Izzy manipulated him into it: then they don't have to admit that right now, in the frame of mind and mental instability that Ed is showing? Ed is a danger to Stede. That needs work before they can be in an intimate relationship, imo.
I think if Stede's feelings on Izzy's toe are approached, he will brush it off, yeah. I think that's one of his character flaws (Izzy is a dick so he will not care what happened to him, rip my steddyhands/gentlehands heart when s2 comes), that he doesn't really care much about what violence is done to people he deems as deserving or, simply, does not care about.
I think the biggest conflict will come more from Ed having willfully killed Lucius, whether Lucius survives or not (and I hope that he does survive, but I also hope that the majority of the cast don't know that for a good chunk of time, because I want that reality to be addressed: Ed made the choice to kill Lucius. There will have to be consequences for that, especially considering how fond Stede is of Lucius, how fond everyone is of Lucius, and how Buttons isn't...the same close kind of character? Stede and Buttons are not as close as Stede and Lucius, but when Calico Jack killed Buttons' bird companion and devastated him, Stede acted immediately in Buttons' defense. I want that to be a precursor to how he acts about Lucius).
This is so long holy shit, I hope you enjoy the read. Also halfway through I knocked something on my keyboard and thankfully it didn't delete my post but I did nearly leave it as "inse3e3ebility" instead of instability.

Season 1 Screen Time New Method Complete!
I think I may have mentioned it on this blog but just in case I haven’t; I developed a new method for calculating the screen time that’s more accurate than the method I was using before. Of course this method also takes longer but that’s the price you pay for accuracy.
Anyway, I just completed my re-do of season 1 and I wanted to share the changes. There wasn’t much difference, but going forward* I will be using this data for any posts so I wanted to have a record of it, both for your reference and mine. *(with the exception of the meta posts because I’m over halfway done so it wouldn’t make sense to change it now.)
I was going to make new charts but the differences aren’t that big so instead I’m breaking down the key differences below the cut. First going episode-by-episode to show which characters screen time was affected, and then breaking down the change in totals for season 1, and finally sharing any changes to the average screen time for each character.
Just want to say before I get into it, again a reminder that these are rounded up or down accordingly. 0:53-0:07 is 0:00, 0:08-0:22 is 0:15, 0:23-0:37 is 0:30, and 0:38-0:52 is 0:45. That’s why a lot of the changes are only by 0:15, because the change is right on the cusp of up or down so the shift is minimal.
1x01 “Pilot” Owen - 21 minutes (+15 seconds) TK - 8:45 minutes (+15 seconds) Judd - 8 minutes (+15 seconds) Michelle - 4 minutes (no change) Paul - 3:15 minutes (+15 seconds) Grace - 3:15 minutes (+15 seconds) Marjan - 2:30 minutes (+15 seconds) Mateo - 2:30 minutes (+15 seconds) Carlos - 1:15 minutes (no change) Tim - 1 minute (+15 seconds) Nancy - 0:45 seconds (+15 seconds)
1x02 “Yee-Haw” Owen - 10:45 minutes (+15 seconds) Michelle - 6:30 minutes (no change) Judd - 5:45 minutes (no change) TK - 4:30 minutes (+15 seconds) Carlos - 4:15 minutes (+30 seconds) Marjan - 2:15 minutes (+15 seconds) Paul - 1:45 minutes (no change) Grace - 1:30 minutes (no change) Mateo - 0:45 seconds (no change) Tim - 0:30 seconds (no change) Nancy - 0:15 seconds (no change)

1x06 “Friends Like These” Owen - 11:45 minutes (-15 seconds) Mateo - 5:45 minutes (no change) Marjan - 5:15 minutes (-15 seconds) Judd - 4:00 minutes (no change) Paul - 2:45 minutes (no change) Michelle - 2:30 minutes (no change) TK - 2:30 minutes (no change) Grace - 1:15 minutes (no change) Tim - 1:00 minute (+15 seconds) Nancy - 0:30 seconds (-15 seconds) Carlos - 0:15 seconds (-15 seconds)
1x07 “Bum Steer” Owen - 10:45 minutes (no change) Michelle - 8:45 minutes (+15 seconds) Judd - 6:45 minutes (no change) TK - 4:15 minutes (no change) Paul - 3:00 minutes (+15 seconds) Marjan - 2:45 minutes (no change) Carlos - 2:15 minutes (-15 seconds) Mateo - 2:15 minutes (+15 seconds) Grace - 1:00 minute (no change) Nancy - 0:30 seconds (no change) Tim - 0:15 seconds (no change)

1x10 “Austin, We Have a Problem” Owen - 8:00 minutes (-30 seconds) TK - 7:15 minutes (-15 seconds) Michelle - 5:15 minutes (+15 seconds) Marjan - 3:30 minutes (+15 seconds) Mateo - 3:15 minutes (no change) Paul - 3:15 minutes (-15 seconds) Grace - 3:00 minutes (no change) Judd - 3:00 minutes (-15 seconds) Carlos - 2:15 minutes (no change) Tim - 0:45 seconds (no change) Nancy - 0:30 seconds (no change)
Totals Owen - 1:43:45 hours (+30 seconds) TK - 54:00 minutes (no change) Michelle - 51:45 minutes (-30 seconds) Judd - 50:45 minutes (+15 seconds) Paul - 30:15 minutes (no change) Marjan - 29:00 minutes (no change) Grace - 23:45 minutes (+15 seconds) Mateo - 23:15 minutes (+15 seconds) Carlos - 18:45 minutes (no change) Tim - 6:45 minutes (+15 seconds) Nancy - 6:00 minutes (-15 seconds)

Again, the changes were minimal. But I like knowing that it’s more accurate. I’m doing season 2 now and hope to be done soon. When I am done, I will make a post like this for those changes, and include the changes to the series totals and averages.
If you read until the end, thank you and thank you for your continued support!

Top 5 Snowing moments and top 5 Curious Archer moments
Thanks again, lovely :D!
Snowing Moments
These may change, but the top 10 will always be in season 1.
5. David saves Mary Margaret from falling off a cliff and they run through the rain in 1x10
Thank freaking God he was there. That was so scary.
4. David meets Mary Margaret at the Toll Bridge and breaks her heart in 1x06
Listen, I love pain, okay.
Tumblr media
3. Prince Charming and Snow at the troll bridge in 1x03
2. David and Mary Margaret "I'm choosing you" moment in 1x06.
1. David and Mary Margarets cabin scene in 1x10 where they admit they oth go to see eachother at 7:15 am
Tumblr media
Honourable mention to the scene with Prince Charming and the Siren in 1x13. That seen was hot as hell but not technically Snowing. Special mention to their first true loves kiss in the show. That moment is iconic.
Curious Archer Moments
I have to be so careful not to confuse these with fanfiction as I’ve read a hell of a lot with them.
5. The library date goes wrong in 7x18
That moment was too real. I felt it on a spiritual level.
4. Tilly and Margot reunite and kiss ater the curse is broken in 7x20
So adorable!
Tumblr media
3. Margot and Tilly’s first meeting in Hyperion Heights in 7x14
Margot looks so adorable in her hat and glasses and she saved Tilly’s life and it was beautiful
2. Margot tells Tilly it won’t be too much for her in 7x18
Tumblr media
1. Margot tries to talk to Tilly while she’s under Gothel’s spell in 7x20
Answering these gave me such a rush of joy!

Do you know if is there a selected list of episode to watch The West Wing including only Josh/Donna significant moments? I would like to watch the series again in a Joshdonnacentric way, so I would like to skip non related episodes. I am not ready to commit again to the full TWW experience 😅
oh my goodness, you’ve actually come to the right place because this is all I do now 😂 this is lengthy, so I’m putting it under a read more by season :)
Season 1 has a general J/D air and there's scenes in most, if not all, of these eps. Main ones for me to rewatch are
1x05 The Crackpots and These Women
1x07 The State Dinner
1x10 In Excelsis Deo
1x14 Take This Sabbath Day
1x15 Celestial Navigation
1x16 20 Hours in LA
1x18 Six Meetings Before Lunch - I actually wrote a post- ep for this one because I love it so much. You can find that here (shameless plug)
Season 2:
Honestly, just rewatch the whole thing. It’s perfect and every episode has J/D. Standouts for me are in the shadow of two gunmen, the midterms, the lame duck congress, the portland trip, shibboleth, noël, bartlet’s third state of the union, the war at home, somebody’s going to emergency, the stack house filibuster, 17 people, two cathedrals. A MASTERPIECE THIS SEASON IS!
Season 3:
AKA the season where I now am fully aware of which episodes Mary Louise Parker is not in 😂
Episodes 1-6 are perfect. You can skip Issac and Ishmael even tho there are some good J/D bits. War Crimes is a personal favorite of mine so 3x04-06 have been watched MANY times in my household.
From here is where Amy gets introduced, but fortunately if she was in an episode, Donna kind of wasn’t? I’m not sure if that was fully on purpose or if I just don’t remember the J/D scenes from that time. J/D only eps are:
3x10 Bartlet for America
3x14 Night Five
3x15 Hartfield’s Landing - politics in new hampshire is 👂🏻what?
3x16 Dead Irish Writers - which is NOT Amy free, but does have really good J/D scenes that make you question who his actual girlfriend is lol
3x17 The U.S. Poet Laureate
3x18 Stirred
3x19 Enemies Foreign and Domestic
3x20 The Black Vera Wang
Season 4:
4x01-02 20 Hours in America
4x09 Swiss Diplomacy
4x10 Arctic Radar - Amy is in this one briefly, but J/D are so good.
4x11 Holy Night
4x14-15 Inauguration: Part 1 and Inauguration: Part 2 - Over There
4x16 The California 47th
4x20 Evidence of Things Not Seen
Season 5-7 has few and far between, but here are the eps I love with J/D heavy scenes.
5x08 Shutdown
5x09 Abu el Banat
5x11 The Benign Prerogative
5x21 Gaza
5x22 Memoral Day
6x01 NSF Thurmont
6x09 Impact Winter - it’s about the angst 🤌🏻
6x10 Faith-Based Initiative (I normally skip until the J/D scene)
6x13 King Corn
7x01 The Ticket
7x13 The Cold 😘
7x16-17 Election Day Part 1 and 2
7x18 Requiem
7x19 Transition
7x22 Tomorrow
And that’s it! There are eps I didn’t mention that still have J/D, but these are my main ones I watch a lot of. I hope this helped :) happy watching!
