19012018 | 002 - hmm...

pertaining to my last post, i did say that i have friends who have a lot of shit and that my very small circle of four close friends, two of them are problematic—not to me, so i don't really mind it—and one is trying to be problematic, and i just want to distance myself from the problematic shit they get in to (works most of the time).

now, you see, last week was our third quarterly examination week, taking two subject exams per day, totalling to eight exams and four days of studying. i managed to survive, the most shocking was our language exam, which was normally twelve pages minimum, had only ten pages and wasn't as hard as the previous two quarter exams. but the thing is, the exams weren't the main problem here, but one of my classmates.

the mother of the class, who i'll conveniently call Ken, quite a guy's name but i'll just go with it. So Ken is the only person in our class who got ranked with With High Honors (94.60 and above average score) with the rest of us, including one of my four friends that i'll conveniently call Alex, in With Honors (90 to 93 average score). Ken is a mother figure because she, to me, is responsibility and peace personified. i've never met a person more stable than her.

apparently, she "cheated" on the exams on the very first day. now, i don't know what fully happened since i wasn't in the same classroom as she is because half of the 10th graders had to be with half of the 9th graders. my last name starts with an A, hers with an S, and so she wasn't a part of the first 13 classmates (we are 26) in our own classroom.

i've heard of what happened from my mother who is also a teacher at the school i transferred to because the proctor of the 9th grade classroom, the advisor of the 9 — Rutherford class, who is also her newest best friend, told her about it. according to what my mother had said, the school's assistant directress, guidance councellor, and the foreign languages teacher (additional proctor) came running to the Rutherford classroom because the asst. directress saw her using her phone while taking the exam—it was around 8:30-8:50 in the morning at the time, it was the science exam—and asked her to open her phone, to which my mom said that the asst. directress saw the parts of reproductive(?) system. our scope for the science exam was the reproductive, nervous, and endocrine system and so, her exam was taken away.

10 — Einstein, after taking the exams and going out to the quadrangle to study, talked about it, but quietly. so, my first thought was 'oh, so it's true?' but not exactly believing. i was very much afraid of what consequence the class might suffer, and what i might suffer as president, if it ever got to the ears of the principal. our section is already a hot mess, already having three simultaneous and seperate issues concerning the class, the volleyball and badminton varsity, and the student council on the second quarter, which she graciously forgave us for, but with an offense as hard as cheating, i was very much afraid of what will happen.

my circle of friends did not want to believe it. i myself did not want to believe it. Alex holds her in a particularly high regard and does not want to make the same mistake of doubting Ken once again, as what she said to us when the news broke out. but the deal here is, one of my friends, that i'll call Athena, picked up something.

My darling, Athena, has an unresolved tension with the lesbian couple—Danielle and Paulynn—two other classmates that I am in neutral terms with, not because they're lesbians or anything, but by how subtly they cheat on exams. Athena has always disliked Paulynn by how immature she acts in volleyball training and just... how she acts in class generally. Athena also dislikes Danielle but i haven't really asked why, but she's more tolerable, if i were to summarize what Athena had told me.

so, this couple has a source knowledge. that is, previous exams of the other batches that were handed down to her. the teachers never changed the exams, according to Alex who had once a source knowledge when she was in 9th grade, and thus the exams that Danielle have in her hands act as an answer key to the actual exam.

if i were to look at it as someone who looks at it in a cold-hearted way, i'd see this act of getting exams from other batches as a major stepping stone in improving my grades. if you want to succeed, then you'd use whatever means to do it. and i feel like a hypocrite trying to sugarcoat and reassure Alex, Athena, and, my other friend, Abi, with the same old 'life is shit, just cry if you can't do anything then move on.' it's a bad advice but you see,

we have no evidence that Danielle and Paulynn have source knowledge. it's all pure speculation by the people of the old school. and so, everything just falls apart.

do i believe it? kind of. i remember, and never shall i forget, the way that Paulynn had mentioned to me and another classmate about "concentric circles" with the aforementioned term not being mentioned in any page in our math book, just the different types of tangents in circles and what they're called as well as the theorems and postulates and shit. there is no mention of concentric circles in the book but if there is then i would need to change my prescription glasses next month to a higher one. if our advisor, who is also our math teacher, had mentioned it to the class during her powerpoint presentations then i better listen closely to her words then.

and so, with Ken inconvenienced and Alex, Athena, and Abi ready to fight, the game changer here is the group Alex is in, IZBIN. IZBIN has a particularly soft spot to Ken, and are already talking a lot of crazy shit, or maybe speaking ugly truths about Danielle and Paulynn.

it got messier when Danielle had told her mother about it. it got a tad but messier when Alex told her that would father will complain about the source knowledge that Danielle has.

at that point, it really made me think that 'huh. i should've just transferred to the shitty school instead of here' because i honestly don't like any of my parents to witness what's about to go down.

the second day proceeds like normal, but something definitely has clicked. i am eternally grateful that exam week is finally over.

well, it's nearly one and fifty in the morning. i'll be sleeping now.
