carolina seafield --- assorted facts

plant mage that has dabbled in earth magic for gardening purposes in the past.

joined the guild when she was 16, the same month ooba also joined. they quickly became friends and went through thick and thin together. for a long time, they were roommates and quest partners, and even today, ooba has her own coffee mug at carolina’s apartment.

she married a james smithson when she was 24, but left him when she was 32 after finding out that he was the father of the local tailor’s two kids. she never spoke to him again and resumed her career as a mage, strongly resenting him for a marriage that kept her away from a job that she loved.

knows about flower language, ask her before you embarrass yourself.

holds the record for the oldest active mage in lamia scale; she was 62 when she stopped taking quests officially, 64 when she stopped working as a mage completely. since, she has served the guild as ooba’s closest confidant and treasurer of the guild.

when she was 68, she was assigned to be sherry blendy’s mentor as per lamia scale’s mentorship program which was the only way the guild accepted children into their ranks.

during the war, she stayed back in zinnia with other mages at ooba’s command and defended the city. she got a couple new scars that way, but survived the war generally unharmed . . . which is more than she can say for many of her younger guildmates.

HAIR COLOR.    dark brown - magically dyed but sssh EYE COLOR.    brown SKIN TONE.     maintains a light tan for the entire year as she spends a great amount of time outside. there are crow feet and laugter lines on her face --- she is old, but she has aged well BODY TYPE.   she has always been lean and while her shape is no longer as easily maintained as it was in her youth, but she lives a healthy life and her body reflects this ACCENT.  it bugs her so much, but she had never gotten rid of her ‘provincial’ accent FACE CLAIM.  none so far DOMINANT HAND. right POSTURE. annoyingly perfect. shoulders always form a perfect line and her back is straight despite the years she had spent hunched over, planting and working on the guild’s garden SCARS.  many --- she’s been an active mage until she was sixty and throughout her career, she has had more than a couple close calls. PLACE OF BIRTH.  crocus, fiore HOMETOWN.  she grew up in crocus but moved to zinnia when she was a teenager so this is the city she considers her hometown.  MANNER OF BIRTH. safely delivered by the midwife who had also helped with the birth of her two older brothers; it was an utterly uneventful birth. master bob & goldmine:  they have always been an odd match in the eyes of others, but while they express themselves very different  ( goldmine is the type to lash out quickly, bob is the sort to resent and remember ),  they have similar core values that allows them to find themselves on the same side of an argument more often than not. plus, goldmine rather enjoys to drink his coffee while he listens to bob’s scheming, something that has become more common these days.

master bob & carolina:  aside from the few years when she was married, carolina has never strayed far from ooba's side and thus, she met the newly minted master of blue pegasus early on. as a plant mage and enthusiastic gardener, she is familiar with harmless seeming plants that are not actually harmless. thus, bob and her quickly found themselves at an impasse --- they both knew the other sees more than they say. ultimately, it led to them getting along very well, ironically.

master bob & ooba:   while by now, ooba is the guild master with the longest tenure, she had only been LS’s master for four years when bob left FT and went on to become master of BP. initially, ooba took both bob and goldmine under her wing when they first participated in the meetings of guild leaders --- they were new, after all, and she remembered quite well what it had been like when she had been new. as time passed, they became something like friends, though their knowledge that the other was more than they let on kept them on their toes.

jura & eva:  when they first met they were, despite the five years separating them, the youngest members of the guild and thus, they had to stick together. jura was already in the advanced corps, certainly, but he was still excluded when the ‘adults’ held their meetings.  ( ooba was never one to make too many exceptions. )  waiting for the ‘adults’ to be done talking behind close doors, they talked, he learnt that her parents ran a store for magical artifacts and said something along the lines of ‘i’ll have to check it out someday’ when she mentioned that they also had books on magic. the rest? history.

jura & ooba:  it did not take long for ooba to spot the immense potential inside of jura, and she was thrilled to find his strength wed to his humble nature. in her time as both a mage and a guild master, she has seen many strong mages come and go, noteworthy only because their arrogance made it difficult to forget them. jura became her mentée, the first and last she ever picked, because it seemed to be a folly not to offer him guidance and advice as great power at a young age can do harm to the mage. ultimately, she thinks she has learnt more from jura than he from her.
