Princess Diana Modern Day Royalty AU!! When I tell you that this is the fic of my dreams I yell about it every single time Anon updates. This LANDO actually makes me scream. It’s about carving out a place for yourself and for the people you love no matter the circumstance and ANON AUTHOR IF YOU’RE OUT THERE IF YOU [SPOILERS] I WILL DIE. I usually don’t rec WIPs but this is an exception it is my beloved fic. Literally using this fic rec to send a message to say this story is EVERYTHING to me and I literally yell about it all the time I owe you my life carlando royalty anon I really do. Godspeed and I will cry if you do it.

Fall and Fixture by @restacks

Spy AU. Restacks is an absolute genius at building the world of AUs. The attention to detail and all the little folds of the world that you get to peek behind in the writing are so artfully and masterfully done. The way that some tropes are really leant into and others are more subtly placed in makes the story feel so real and believable while still getting everything you want out of a specific universe like spies. The character work is stellar, the way the tension is molded throughout is perfect, and the payoff you get by the end is just really really fucking good. Everything in this story is immaculately placed. I will continue to reread it.

Monaco Grand Prix First Time. I love a getting together story, and this one feels so comfortable and lived in and sweet. It feels like a natural progression of them as characters outside this slice of the story, which is communicated so well without being explicit about it.

Mafia AU. This one is almost a vignette, I believe it is a work in a larger Mafia series of the grid, but standalone this one is so good. It’s a bit of a darker characterization of Carlos, which I found really interesting and suitable for the world, and the tension is so palpable and so hot.

Carlos teaches Lando how to sext. This is a really fun interpretation of Carlos’ need to be a teacher and to manhandle Lando in that dynamic. The Lando voice here, how he gets in his head a lot and how he observes himself in his surroundings, is really well done. It’s also a fucking great concept in general, that is really well executed when sometimes that type of thing can border on cheesy.

Post-Sochi Established FWB. This is hurt/comfort how it should be written! This is my comfort fic. The emotional intimacy and the miscommunication is really well placed and I love Lando’s POV. The tones and shifts work in such a lovely way to unravel this point of their relationship for the reader that does an incredible job of show don’t tell. Also read ALL of elementalmoments' other fics too, they are all works of genius :)

FWB to Lovers, one of my favourite genres. I really love the progression here and the way the author uses different kinds of sex to illustrate that.

Lando needs a date to his cousin’s wedding and his friend who he is definitely not in love with agrees to go with him. Carlos LOVES HIM his family LOVES CARLOS Lando is a CONFLICTED IDIOT who doesn’t see it it’s perfect.

Fringe Contender by @redpaint

Boxing AU. I love this story so much. I actually read this one wayyyyy before I cared about Lando or Carlos. I barely knew who they were at the time, but the story is so good I was drawn in immediately. Rereading it now, again the dynamic between Carlos and Lando as teacher/student is one of my favourites, and this does a really wonderful job of translating that desire for both of them into a world I know nothing about. The locations in this story are so vivid, Spain feels like another character in the story. The motifs are really clever throughout and I just love the juxtaposition between tenderness and violence that this type of AU allows for. I think Lando/Carlos is my favourite pairing to read AU form for, and this is the cream of the crop.
