word count: 2,716
music: some – soyou & junggigo, say so – doja cat (to me, sakuya is the embodiment of the jpn 80s city pop vibe)
spoiled!
🌸🌷 sakuma sakuya
sakuya started from nothing and worked hard for everything that was his, never giving up and always persevered against all odds
so it wasn’t a big surprise when the moment sakuya realized you were the person he thought of when reciting his romantic lines, he made it clear he liked you
(luckily, masumi had quick reflexes and caught the script before it fell into the river. sakuya was too busy having the most lovestruck, dreamy smile as he started off into the horizon, saying, “i like them. i really like them.”)
(“about time, you big sap.” masumi handed the packet back, but he looked just as content to see his best friend come to the realization. if only director felt the same way... sigh)
sakuya started being more direct in the most sakuya way possible, initiating planned dates that he just called “hang–outs”
(yeah, they were all definitely dates)
it wasn’t until sakuya asked you to come over at a very specific time to the dorms that you felt like something was going
you wouldn’t find out why until it was operation: ask you out, you got this sakuya! (abbreviated to go sakuya!!! on the labelled binder he had)
he finally asked you out when his heart told him the timing was perfect! sakuya had every tiny detail planned and laid out, presenting it at the very urgent scheduled meeting to his spring troupe members
sakuya was a true leader, he had prevented anything from going wrong and took extreme measures to make sure tonight was perfect
so when you confirmed you would come over soon, sakuya felt his nerves kick in as he launched himself into the living room, ordering everyone to get out (but very politely)
“hi, um. guys? could you leave? for the night?” sakuya shyly requested (he was so impatient though, he wanted to tell you he liked you already! it had to be the best for you!)
confused, everyone halted their afternoon activities as tsuzuru’s big brother instincts made him take over and explain the dilemma at hand, although, not well
(everyone got even more confused, what the hell was tsuzuru talking about? something about the perfect violin music? the 90s disney movie ambience? taking every comforter in the residence for a fort?)
itaru sighed, stepping up to the plate. he wasn’t taking time out of his video game time for nothing
“in other words, sakuya needs to ask someone out before he explodes from his lovey–dovey feelings. he needs the room for his date.”
(citron burst into tears, dramatically sinking to the floor as sakuya hurried over with hugs, genuinely worried for his friend. “sakuya~ you are growing up so fast! you are such a good boy!!!”)
even though he didn’t want to ask for help, the whole company automatically ignored him and went to go assist him in decorating
with a couple of funny comments here and there about why he was going out more and his literal heart eyes
(“oh look at sakusaku in love~” azuma pulled on sakuya’s cheek, everyone gushing over sakuya’s blush and his bright eyes as he thought about you. he was so passionate about you, just like acting!)
but the jokes were reserved for another time because their leader needed their help. it was time to repay back the favors sakuya always did for them, he did deserve a night of just romance!
he deserved the world for being such a good person
the main lights were turned off. twinkling fairy lights were pinned up to the top of the walls. red tablecloth was put over the main table. food was placed on a silver platter sakyo only reserved for very special occassions. proper plating was set up with every type of utensil possible (even a salad fork, there was no salad). the projector was set up behind the sofa. a comfy, elaborate pillow and blanket fort took over the whole sitting area. rose petals decorated the entryway and aromatic candles filled the room with love. tonight was going to be perfect
spring troupe raided the costumes department to quickly make waiter–styled outfits for the night (banri wasn’t allowed to help the moment he held something animal print up). sakuya let taichi clip on his bowtie and yuki check the measurements of his new formal wear. running by, homare dropped a fresh rose into a vase in the middle of the dining table before going into a verse about young love. omi finished up the delicious spaghetti, due to muku giggling about lady & the tramp and sharing a noodle. everyone put in the effort to get the volunteers ready for the biggest act of sakuya’s life
“everyone, three cheers for sakuya and his potential partner tonight!” tsuzuru led the group chant as sakuya stared at himself in the mirror, grinning as he willed himself to take a deep breath. he had this in the bag, tonight was going to be perfect
as sakuya stood in the corridor after the preparations, it felt like he was backstage before a major performance. the butterflies in his stomach were going crazy, he was so excited to see you
food? check! music? check! decorations? check! perfect outfit? check! everyone ready for their cues? check! flowers? che—wait...
before sakuya could have a minor, tiny meltdown over forgetting a very essential part of his plan, tsumugi ran back inside covered in dirt as he gracefully passed a sweet boquet with a light pink ribbon tied around the stems. it was so thoughtful, sakuya almost teared up right then and there
“this one means confessing a crush,” tsumugi said, pointing to the abundance of daisies before taking his leave, whispering good luck on the way out. tasuku waved, sporting a thumbs up
juza held hisoka up with a serious, but supportive nod. tenma winked, enough said
sakuya smiled, he had such good friends!
the common room in the dorms was evacuated as the other spring troupe members were hiding in the kitchen, acting as servers to the very exclusive mankai restaraunt. the clock struck 8pm as kamekichi flew by, closing the curtains in the process just like they discussed
sakuya heard a knock on the front door. that was his cue; sakuya moved to stand by the classy table as he heard itaru’s business voice greet you professionaly. he almost giggled at the confusion in your voice before itaru led you to the kitchen, a shocked look on your face as sakuya pulled your chair out
“you look beautiful.” sakuya honestly admitted, feeling his cheeks flush when you looked away with a smile. sakuya pushed your chair in as he went back to the other side, gently taking your hand as he tapped on the table three times. at the sign, he heard masumi start playing his classical violin in the background
phase 1: get you to sit down (check!)
“thank you, i don’t know what to say!” you stammered, looking around at the transformed scenery as tsuzuru walked in, bowing at you two before placing two menus down. there was really only one thing on the menu, but it was in some fancy cursive font so it was acceptable
“would you like to get started? or should i give you a few minutes?” tsuzuru questioned, having his notepad at ready with a black pen as he followed the script without problems. sakuya watched as you stared at the menu, unaware of what to do next
improv time! sakuya immediately ordered two servings of spaghetti, knowing it was the only thing he had planned with two cups of water (tsuzuru almost broke character when he almost reached a hand out to ruffle sakuya’s hair, pretending to stretch instead)
“certainly, sir. enjoy your time at mankai!” tsuzuru took his leave, going to wait his specific allocated time of 5 minutes before coming back. you looked at sakuya, his face starng back into yours with a fond smile
“thank you for coming—” sakuya started but was cut off by a very loud scream. a very citron–sounding scream. following the shriek, the sound effect of glass smashing on the floor and the wet slap of noodles was very clear. the violin cut off with an awful note, making you wince as you pulled your hand back
phase 2: eat spaghetti (oh, crap)
silence. then—
“OH MY GOD, CITRON!” tsuzuru yelled, shuffling open the script sakuya handed out. citron began apologizing profusely, not realizing you and sakuya were sitting in disbelief and uncertain about what was going to happen next
“ah, this was not GJ... press f in the chat.” itaru commented monotonously, offering a very sarcastic clap. “shut up!” masumi tried to salvage the situation, but the damage was already done
it wasn’t until you heard a muffled sigh that the boys stopped fighting. sakuya tried hiding his face as he sunk lower in his seat, holding his head in his hands
“i’m... i’m so sorry!” sakuya apologized, trying to form a coherent sentence without his voice cracking from embarrassment. the spring boys felt awful, quickly trying to clean up the mess and turn this date around the right way
but you smiled, standing up to put your hand on his shoulder as he tensed. were you going to leave? this had to be the worst date ever! you were too nice, you were trying to spare his feelings—how embarrassing!
“saku, it’s okay.” you comforted, bending down to look him in the eye. sakuya nodded, wiping his nose as he blinked away his frustrated tears. i must look so immature, sakuya pouted, trying to appear as calm as possible. but inside, he was screaming. how could have this happened so early on? he did everything!
“no, i wanted tonight to be perfect because i wanted to ask—” sakuya felt your hand guide his face to look at yours, your fingers gently holding onto his chin. you smiled
“will you be my boyfriend, saku?” you asked, seeing his face go blank before shooting out of his seat, almost knocking you down as he started jumping up and down
“yes, oh my god, of course!” sakuya composed himself, rubbing the back of his neck as he settled down from your laughter. sakuya instead picked you up, spinning around as he couldn’t help but laugh along with you
“oh my god, do you really like me?!” sakuya couldn’t believe his ears, you liked him even after this whole disaster of a date!
(this would be the start of the best dates ever as long as sakuya was there)
“no one has put so much effort into something for me like this before, you’re one of a kind.” you truthfully said, putting your hands on his face as he lowered you to the ground after losing the adrenaline rush
before you could connect your lips to his, you smelt a floral scent in your face and leaned back to see him panicking with a boquet of daisies
(you would soon learn sakuya was planning something very, very special for the first kiss. it didn’t go wrong, that time)
“uh... this is for you! please accept them!!!” sakuya thrusted the boquet into your hands and the rest of the night was yours to share
(sakuya kicked the spring members out, pushing them out of the door and promising to give them a huge rant later on. it wasn’t much, though, just a “i’m not angry, i’m just disappointed” speech that had no merit since he couldn’t stop smiling)
after that, you accepted sakuya and all of life’s mishaps, disasters, and unfortunate events that seemed to follow him despite his best efforts to do everything right
even though he loved just as much to spoil you rotten by spending quality time together, you always looked forward to getting the upper hand and surprising him thoughtful gifts!
sakuya hated it when you spent money on him, always taking the gift but trailing after you like a lost puppy trying to pay you back
(the kid even tried sneaking in cash when you weren’t looking. sakuya’s acting skills were useful when he pretended like he had no idea where a random $20 came from!)
(he later got excited seeing the same lucky bill on the sidewalk during a park walk, not noticing it was the same exact one he tried giving to you)
once you realized pricey, store–bought presents weren’t the way to go and only made sakuya feel guilty, you resorted to hand–made items that had your name all over it
you loved sewing! you even stole sakuya’s worn white hoodie with “SPRING” on it, embroidering lovely cherry blossoms around the words and at the end of the sleeves
you hid your initials + S.S. on the inside of the spot right over his heart (sakuya wouldn’t find it until one day, he was about to flip it inside out for laundry and was found cradling the fabric with happy tears sitting at the base of the washer)
(he wouldn’t move and masumi had to send you a picture of what a wreck your boyfriend was — “come get him already, he doesn’t have clean clothes”)
when you gave it back to him after he accepted it was gone forever, sakuya nearly passed out from how overwhelmed he was with your kindness! he wears it even more now, running his fingers over the texture of the flowers and feeling your love in every stitch every time he thought of you
(he started doing it subconciously, it became a comforting habit for him to do now)
acting like his professional stylist, you even knitted this super cute puff–ball beanie that was pink, silver, and white
the word “BLOSSOM” across the top became your new pet name the moment he received it (your contact was now blossom *insert every pink heart emoji ever*)
(unrelated but yes you two cosplayed as blossom and brick from the powerpuff girls for halloween)
your largest gift ever was a quilt blanket of patches you sewed of memories you shared!
(even the spaghetti disaster you now laughed about later on! sakuya realized wearing all white eating tomato sauce was a very bad idea)
countless movie nights, walks in the park, picnics by his favorite river, playing cute 3ds games together, decorating for school–wide events, and visiting the aquarium for the adorable clownfish were all apart of a blanket he would definitely save first in a hypothetical fire
yet, sakuya’s favorite gift ever was always on his person: a beaded promise bracelet you made
(you even got one back, although he definitely needed your help so it wasn’t much of a surprise)
it was during a community service event where sakuya signed up to take care of the little kids running around at the library center. it was art day, so he was happily painting a blank sculpture in the colorful room surrounded by a bunch of children who were concetrated on painting the best pokémon ever
you loved sakuya’s big heart and how he always dedicated time to helping others, so you made an effort to join him in his altrustic hobbies
(couples who care for the community stay together, obviously)
it had been a week after you noticed how sakuya’s famous pink watch was off his wrist. he downplayed it, just saying it wasn’t his favorite anymore even though he wore it for years
(but citron blabbed and confessed it was broken and he had never seen sakuya so upset except on spaghetti night)
(citron shuddered. no one speaks of spaghetti night around sakuya)
so when you slipped the pink beaded bracelet with his name and a small heart around the pikachu’s ears as a crown, sakuya looked up to see what would be his favorite piece of jewelery of all time
sakuya’s work ethic never went away and he worked twice as hard to have you happy to be with him, but it was nice to take a break and be spoiled every once in a while
(more like, spoiled every day as you always had something new to give. they would all become his lucky charms and it seemed like his accident–prone fortune went away)
sakuya was glad you worked just as hard to be with him; he loves you very, very much!

The Clockwork Heartbeat (Mankai Stage Spring 2019 translation)

hello folks. i cried multiple times while translating this. and while watching it. and listening to it. clockwork hurts. i might be a winter but it’s my favourite a3 play ever i have every fucking emotion thinking about it. please enjoy.
cast list
Minagi Tsuzuru (Maekawa Yuuki) as Luke Citron (Furuya Yamato) as S Sakuma Sakuya (Yokota Ryugi) as Colt Chigasaki Itaru (Tateishi Toshiki) as Boyd and Narrator Usui Masumi (Makishima Hikaru) as Alf
-
Narrator In a certain town in a certain country A time where people’s lives depend upon steam The alchemist Luke— creates a homunculus, an artificial human, forbidden by law.
Luke There, it’s finished. Your name is S!
S: Good morning, master. Please give me an order.
Luke I won’t order you around You and I are friends
S: That will be a problem. If I am not given orders, I cannot move.
Luke: …alright then, let’s give you one. Be my friend.
S: Friend…?
Luke: Yes.
S: Understood.
Luke: How dry...oh! Let’s shake hands! It’s how humans greet each other.
Luke: S, are you left-handed? Ah…this is hard to explain. S, a handshake is when you clasp hands together.
S: Hands together…understood.
Luke No, no. We have to take each other’s hands. This is a handshake.
S: Handshake…
Luke: It’s a sign of our friendship.
S: Master and I, are friends. Handshake.
[spring telepathy time part 1!]
Citron: (Oh! Like I thought, doing manzai with Tsuzuru is the best!)
Tsuzuru: (No, we’re acting right now. Jeez…making me do comebacks even in my head…)
Citron: (I’ve had it!)
Tsuzuru: (But thank you. You helped out a lot this time.)
Citron: (I didn’t do anything. I just always want to be able to play around with you.)
-
Colt: Good morning, sir! Eh? Did you get a new apprentice?
Luke: Hey, Colt. He’s S, he’s my friend.
Colt: I’m Luke’s apprentice, Colt! Nice to meet you, S!
S: I’m Master’s friend, S. It’s nice to meet you, too.
Colt: Ow ow ow! My hand’s going to break!
S: This is a handshake.
Luke: You’re doing it too strongly, S.
Colt: Sir, is S—?
Luke: He is, but he’s my friend.
S: Yes. I am Master’s friend.
Colt: Ah, is that so. I’d expect no less from you, sir!
Narrator Luke teaches S many things S slowly absorbs it all. Luke has a lot of fun, and perhaps…S does as well
Boyd: But there’s no way it’ll be fine like this, fool apprentice.
Luke: Master—!
S: Master…?
Luke: S, this is my alchemy teacher, Boyd.
S: I am Master’s friend, S. It is nice to meet you.
Boyd Homunculi are outlawed throughout the land Get rid of that doll at once
Luke: S is my friend. Please don’t talk about him like that.
Boyd: Their kind can’t understand human emotions.
Luke Yes, they can! I’ll teach him. I’ll give S a heart!
Boyd: My, my. Perhaps rather than teach you alchemy, I should have shown you how to make friends.
[spring telepathy time part 2!]
Itaru: (Having me be both the narrator and the teacher is a bit much.)
Tsuzuru: (It’s a role only you can do, Itaru-san.)
Itaru: (Tsuzuru, you say that every time.)
Tsuzuru: (Has acting become more fun than games?)
Itaru: (Who knows. But…your scripts are interesting.)
-
S: Master, do I not have a “heart”?
Luke: That’s not true—
S: But Master’s teacher said so.
Luke: Your master is me.
S: What is a heart?
Luke: Why do you keep asking about this—
S: Master, please order me to have a heart.
Luke: It’s not something I can just order you to have.
S: But if I do not have a heart, I will be destroyed.
Luke: I won’t let that happen! …anyway, S. Maybe you should step outside for a bit.
S: Is this an order?
Luke: An order? …yes, yes it is.
S: Understood.
-
Narrator Luke hides S from prying eyes, but it is already too late. The news on his existence reaches commanding officer Alf.
Alf: Robots with artificial intelligence are illegal in this country.
Luke: S isn’t a robot. He’s completely human.
Alf If machines and humans mingle, it will only bring misfortune The law exists to prevent that. As soon as a homunculus is discovered, it will immediately be— —destroyed.
Alf: What’s this door?
Luke: Please, don’t!
Colt: Sir, let’s make a run for it!
Alf: Just a smoke bomb, eh. These alchemists…Go after them! Find them no matter what!
Luke: S, the guards are after us. We have to escape.
S: Escape? But if we run from the law, then Master will become a criminal.
Luke: If I don’t, then you’ll be destroyed!
S: Is it because I do not have a heart? Because I am a doll?
Alf: Give up. Treating mechanical dolls as equal to humans is merely hubris.
Luke: …hubris…?
Colt: You’re mistaken! My teacher’s become so much brighter. All because S is his friend!
Alf: They’re only playing at being friends. Your imitation of friendship ends here.
-
S: Master.
Luke: S! S, fight. We’ll get out of here!
S: I do not wish to cause you trouble.
Luke: That’s an order. You’re my friend. Our friendship isn’t just make-believe!
S: Understood.
(back at it again with “watch it if you can” but citron fighting is just. chef kiss. i love my boy so much. i would give up my life for furuya yamato.)
Luke: S!
[spring telepathy time part 3!]
Tsuzuru: (Citron-san, this is…!)
Sakuya: (He had some special training with Banri-kun and Sakyo-san!)
Masumi: (You’ve gotten a little better than before.)
Citron: (I was learning self defense from friends, so that came in handy, right!)
Sakuya: (We’ll all definitely come together to live up to your script!)
Tsuzuru: (Don’t make me cry in the middle of the play, now.)
Masumi: (Don’t cry.)
Tsuzuru: (I won’t!)
-
Alf: After them!
Narrator: But in the battle, S takes a great deal of damage, and the clockwork in his chest is bared.
Luke: S, that wound—!
S: It is not a problem. There are only screws and gears within me.
Luke: Let’s get back to the laboratory. We have to get you patched up right away.
Colt: But the laboratory’s going to be crawling with guards—
Luke: We can defeat them again. At this rate, S is going to stop functioning.
Colt: Sir, your crimes are just going to pile up!
Luke: If he stops working now, he’ll lose all his memories from when he first woke up!
S: Master, please remove my key.
Luke: What are you saying. If I do that, you’ll break—
S: If I cease functioning, you will no longer be chased.
Luke: No, I can’t. We’ll run together. That’s an order.
S: I will not obey. I wish to save you.
Luke: Why won’t you listen to your master’s orders?!
S: Because…I am…your friend, Luke. You gave me a life. You gave me friends. You gave me…a heart. And my heart is saying—even if I can no longer move, I’ll always be your friend.
Luke: No…I don’t want you to break.
S: I want you to do it. Not anyone else.
Luke: Being created and destroyed on the whims of a human…isn’t this too cruel?
S: We’ll meet again someday. Saying goodbye makes me sad too, but when I think that we’ll meet again, I’m okay.
(luke clutches s’ hands tightly, resulting in the most painful callback i have ever seen)
S: Luke, that hurts. You’re doing it too strongly.
Luke: I’m glad I met you, S.
S: Tha…nk…you……Lu…ke…
Colt: Please, won’t you let us go? My teacher, he—!
Alf: Thank you for your compliance with the law. Pardon the impoliteness.
Colt: You’re not taking S away?
Alf: We don’t have the free time to be confiscating broken inventions. Now, if you’ll excuse me.
-
Boyd: Huh. That straight-laced commanding officer did that?
Colt: Yes, he was really cool!
Boyd: So, how are that guy’s wounds healing up?
Colt: He seems fine now. He even went on a stroll this morning!
Boyd: That shut-in did? You’re not mistaken, are you?
Colt: Since then, teacher’s changed quite a bit. It’s like a bolt from the blue!
Luke: Hey, Colt. Don’t exaggerate.
Colt: Oh, teacher!
Boyd: You seem perfectly well now, don’t you.
Luke: Thankfully.
Boyd: A wind-up key? Quite a tasteless necklace you have there, my idiot apprentice.
Luke: This is an important key, I don’t want to lose it. So that I don’t forget a precious friend’s heart.
All Living on in my heart Important things don’t have to be seen
S So that one day we’ll meet again
Luke So that I don’t forget
All The ticking noise resounds
(then it goes into omoide no nejimaki here, from here again boop)
All Thoughts are superimposed on each other, acting like a spring To the proof of the connection that we created
Luke The last greeting is a source of calm wind
S Let’s go to sleep like this
Luke It was left in the hand
Luke, S A key to memories

Decisions of the future A3 Actors! Future is now
Type: Oneshot
Pairing: Sakuma Sakuya x Reader
Themes: High school / Slice of life / Future / Subtle crush
“Yamato Hinata! Your total score is below average! Do something about it!”
“Yes, sir…!”
“Kazaki Kimiko! I think we already discussed how you were in a dangerous zone! Do not make me repeat myself!”
“Very sorry sir!”
“Kudo Shintaro! Get your ass over here and try to explain to me why your score is so low!”
“Oh shit…”
“What was that?!”
Ah, the screams of the English teacher first thing in the morning. Not the first time the students in that classroom had suffered them, but a bad sign to start a Monday nonetheless. Hanasaki Highschool had a pretty standard position regarding grades as the results they had gotten showed. This, however, didn’t seem to interest the old professor, who had resumed to talk about future choices if they couldn’t even pass the exams.
As the bell rang indicating the end of the first period, you headed to the bathrooms groaning  internally.
You understood everything. Future, yes. It’s important, yes. But was it really necessary to keep that reminder every day? In every conversation that involved studies? You knew thinking about what you wanted was important. Hell, you had studied so hard for this last exam.
“Y/N! I though you strived for more than this. Make more effort, goodness sake! if you keep these scores you are not cutting it!”
Cutting it for what, exactly? You had been trying to get the best scores of all your high schools years and you didn’t even know what were you aspiring to do -you  had yet to fill the universities of choice. What if you decided to start working and not study anymore? Would that be so bad?
You shook your head as you opened the tap, water coming out with strong force. You splashed and washed your face, trying to limit the amount of bad thoughts that were already amounting on the top of your head. It was the start of the morning, you still had a lot to get through.
Closing the tap, you left the restrooms and made your way back to class, noticing a few boys and girls talking to people from other years and classes around the hall.
Once you were arriving at yours you noticed Sakuma Sakuya at the entrance- The red-head was talking to another guy you didn’t recognize, his back turned towards you. Had he failed? You didn’t remember well. As you got closer, you identified the boy Sakuya was talking to as one of the most feared boys in your grade. Was he really okay?
“…So you’re going to have to show up at the make up exam?” you could hear the boy’s voice, his hands slipping inside the pockets of their uniform. “Sucks to be you.”
Your classmate sighed, moving his eyes around the hallway when they felt your gaze. “Ah, sorry Y/N-san! We were blocking the door!”
“Then, I’m leaving.”
“Alright, see you at lunch. Thanks again, Banri-kun!” Sakuya waved goodbye as the famous troublemaker headed to… well, wherever that staircase led, possibly the rooftop.
“Didn’t know you were friends with Settsu Banri.”
“Mhm! I left in a hurry this morning to get to class and Banri-kun brought me the lunch I left at the dorm. He’s a real nice guy!” He showed you a small bag he was holding as you both entered the class. Break was almost over. For some reason, the majority of your classmates were also inside already talking over one another.
“Hey, guys.” Hinata called you both. He was revising a piece of paper. “The English teacher just came in again and left our next assignment.”
“What? We just received our scores.” You frowned.
The boy shrugged. “Agreed. But he came in and went on talking about this project to, and I quote ‘save our asses from failing high school’.”
Oh, come on world. It was ONLY Monday.
“What is the project about?”
Hinata nodded handing the task. “A literature presentation in pairs. Of course, the pairs are already done.” Sakuya and you leaned in to see what more surprises would the day bring you.
“…Oh”
.
.
.
“I’m home…! Mhm, that’s weird. Looks like everyone is out.” Sakuya turned to you, offering a pair of inside shoes as you took out yours. “Maybe some are in their rooms, it’s usually pretty crowded.”
You nodded distractedly. You didn’t know the dorm he lived in was this big. “This place is amazing, Sakuma-kun… Ah, Sakuya. Sorry, habits,” you smiled at the boy, who reciprocated the gesture. He had asked you to call him by his first name on the way here.
As of yesterday, both of you had become partners in crime for the seemingly project so you both decided to get it done as soon as you could.
He laughed and scratched his cheek, which had turned to a slight shade of pink. “Sorry if things look a bit messy. Please come inside! My room is outside in the garden. We have so many beautiful flowers there too thanks to Tsumugi-san. Ah, maybe you want something to drink?”
As you both reached his room, you kept a light conversation going on. Both of you weren’t on bad term with each other (who wouldn’t like someone like Sakuya) but it was true that this year you had kept yourself from interacting with your classmates in general. Hell, you didn’t remember when was the last time you didn’t go straight home.
You looked at Sakuya and he smiled warmly. You quickly directed your eyes to anywhere else, feeling yourself heating up from his gaze.
Of course, that had included going out with anyone.
Deciding it was for the best to divide the information search, you both took out a few books you had collected from the library and a computer to summarize the main points to present. However, not even twenty minutes had passed when the door opened and a man in foreign clothes sticked his head over it. “Welcome back, Sakuya! I have many doubts for this part of the performance. It is very tricky to pronounce indeed!”
“Ah, Citron-san!” the spring troupe leader greeted happily as you bowed your head. You didn’t expect such a character to be in a Japanese dorm. “This is-“
“OH MY!” you and Sakuya couldn’t help but jump at the intensity of his voice, eyes wide open. “I apologize for interrupting your dating time, Sakuya! I will make sure to ask the help for these words to our dear director.”
…What time now?
Sakuya went rigid for a few seconds, processing like you just were, before standing up, his neck and ears fully flushed. “Wait! You’re wrong Citron-san!” he turned to show how you both had disposed all the work on the table. “D-don’t you remember me talking to you about Y/n-san? We were going to-“
The man seemed to recall something, as he cut him again. “Oh, yes, of course! You mentioned the beauty and hard-work of Y/N a few times yesterday! I’m happy she’s here now..”
Uh…?
“I was hoping you presented her to us before entering the bedroom to give the approval for this new relationship but…”
UH?!
“Citron-san please we are just partnering for a literature project!” the poor boy was the definition of a mess, his blush spreading all over his face.
Or at least that was how you pictured him by the sound of his voice. You were staring hard at the floor, hearth thumping hard in your ears “Ah, yes. Literature project.” you heard the foreigner keep talking with a thick accent. “Kazunari told me about those projects too! Don’t worry, I’ll make sure no one knows about this so you can enjoy your youth!”
“Citron-san it’s not-!”
The sound of the door closing made you know the man had already left, leaving you two and the thickest silence you had yet experienced, alone. Beautiful and hardworking. Was that how Sakuma talked about you to others? You didn’t know what to say. It had been a while since you were this flustered.
“I… I am so sorry Y/N-san. I, um, it’s not what- Citron-san sometimes misunderstand and….!”
“It’s fine, uh, let’s…” you pointed to the computer. Yes. Just keep working. Why did you think meeting at his dorm was a good idea?
.
.
.
“So… How was your score last test?” after a while and having digested the early situation, you tried to break the silence.
Sakuya lifted his head surprised, visibly grateful to have something to talk about. “Well, not as good as I wanted. I barely passed… English literature is not my best subject. I’ll have to work hard not to go for a make up exam! Sakyo-san always insist on doing our best.”
You hummed, nodding abstinently.
“Um, do you have something you would like to do, Y/N-san?”
You thought about the question. The very same one that had been directed to you for the past year by teachers, family and other friends. The answer, however, hadn’t change yet. “I… don’t know.”
You began to feel the usual anxiousness, expecting him to wonder how was that possible. You had such good marks most of the time, everyone said. How come you didn’t have a clue? To your surprise, Sakuya just hummed, his expression unchanged. “Same here!”
You stopped looking at your book and turned your head towards him confused. If there was someone you thought had decided his future, that would be him. “I thought you were planning on becoming an actor…?” You weren’t totally sure but you had heard, and now verified after coming, how the boy was living in a theatre-dorm where he performed. You had yet to watch any but it sounded like he had already caved his own path.
“Me? Well, I do love acting! I hope it’s something I could do forever but… except Tasuku-san, almost everyone in the dorm has studied some type of major or are working. I think it’s important to have a plan b just in case, I still don’t know which one though! But I’ve been thinking about what I like to do besides acting. It hasn’t been easy but I’m sure there will be something I’ll see and want to try!”
You blinked. That… made sense.
“Ah, if you have trouble too, we could go take a look at different universities to see their programmes. I was planning of going so it’d be fun if you tagged along. I think it’d help you too!”
Graduation was still months to go. You somehow understood you weren’t alone. There were many people in your and Sakuya’s situation. You… you could still find your call. You finally noticed what felt like mental relief. “If… you don’t mind me,” you looked at his eyes, red pinkish irises reflecting into yours. “I also think it’d be good. Thanks.” They felt cozy. A tender smiled covered your face.
The teen laughed sheepishly. “I’m glad I could help! You have looked down lately in class so…” he blushed, moving his hands to cover his face in an attempt to hide his embarrassment. “W-well that’s what I thought! Not that I…!”
“Sakuya?”
“Yes?” hoping that the heat he felt in his ears wasn’t as visible as it felt.
A small thump bang in your chest. “Before going to select universities… If there are tickets for your next performance I…” you coughed, feeling shy all of a sudden. “I would like to enjoy something new for a bit,” you finally looked at Sakuya’s face.
And while there was still a big amount of red decorating his ears, the dashing smile he sent to your direction made everything else look pale.
“Of course!”

To Be The Best Me
Name still a work in progress.
Chapter 2- The Legality Is Questionable, So Don’t Ask Questions
Place your bets for Tsuzuru’s pokemon now, folks.
~~~
At the end of the day Izumi closes the book she was teaching from.
“I think today was pretty productive.”
“Yeah!” Sakuya puts his notes into his bag, his eevee yipping in agreement.
Izumi realizes something.
“What is it?” Sakuya notices the look on her face.
“Well, I wasn’t planning on staying here very long…” She admits. “I don’t have a place to stay.” And plane tickets are hell to cancel.
“Don’t worry! The school has a dorm!”
“Really?”
“Yeah, it’s kinda small,” To be expected, there’s only one classroom and only so many people can be legally taught in one room. It’s a fire hazard. “Mr. Matsukawa said that there’s a room specifically for the head teacher, which I guess would be you.” Considering she’s the only teacher? Yeah, probably.
“Alright, lead the way.”
They arrive at the dorms. In the common area Isuke is doing paperwork. He gives them a smile and wave.
“Ms. Tachibana,” Sakuya starts. “If you were only planning to stay a little while, why’d you bring so much stuff?”
“I don’t know, I thought maybe I could go sight seeing for a while before heading home. Plus I’m a cautious packer.” She then also realizes there are things she’s going to need to grab from her house. She wouldn’t be canceling the flight yet, and one ways are cheaper. Before any of that, though, she needs to find a substitute. Maybe it’s the fact that the school was on the brink of demolition when under his care, but Isuke doesn’t seem like the best choice.
“Alright, tomorrow we’ll be looking for more students and teachers.” Pokemon training isn’t required education, and the building looks a little worse for wear, so it’s understandable that people wouldn’t be jumping at the opportunity to sign their kids up.
“Why?”
“Sakuya, this can’t be a school with only one student and teacher. That’s just a tutoring session.” And she promised a full functioning school.
“Okay, it was getting a little lonely here.”
“What am I? Chopped liver?”
“Matsukawa, he needs to socialize with other kids his age.”
Their talk is interrupted with the sound of a gurgling stomach.
“Sorry…” Sakuya mumbles.
“I suppose that’s my cue to start dinner.” Isuke gets up and heads to the kitchen.
Izumi can see the light in Sakuya’s eyes die a little.
When Isuke is done, Izumi stares in horror at the plate in front of her. It hardly looks edible. But looks aren’t everything, right? Maybe it tastes better than it looks.
No, it’s just as bad as she feared.
“Alright, I’m cooking.” She grabs up the food and takes it to the kitchen. She can work with this. She’s worked with worse.
She quickly whips up some curry using the food and some stuff she can find in the kitchen.
“Here it is!” She says, putting the pot on the table.
“This is really good!” Sakuya says.
“How did you prepare this so fast? Did you use roux?”
Izumi laughs, but stops when she sees she’s the only one. “Oh my god you’re serious. You can’t make good curry with that store bought stuff. I didn’t see any in the kitchen, but if you have bought them, I’m throwing them away.”
“Right, of course.”
When they’re done eating Sakuya shows her her room. He and Isuke also help bring up her suitcase.
She lets out spinda and pachirisu to get used to their new home while she unpacks.
“So how do you guys think we’ll attract students?”
Pachirisu shuffles and a pink heart appears.
“No, Patch, not like that…”
“Spi spin!” Spinda calls, stumbling around.
She thinks. “Maybe I could use the advertisement as a lesson, as well.”
The next day she takes Sakuya out to a public battle area.
“Alright Sakuya. Today will be your first battle!”
“Really?”
“Yep. I’ll only be using spinda, so don’t worry about that.”
They get into proper position, Izumi lets pachirisu watch nearby.
“Alright Sakuya, give it your all!”
“Right!”
“Spinda use tackle!”
Spinda lunges towards eevee, almost missing, knocking him back.
“Eevee! Use covet!”
Eevee runs towards spinda and swipes at her.
“Good job, Sakuya!”
“Thanks!”
“Now, spinda use copycat!”
Spinda stumbles forward and slashes at eevee in a similar manner.
“What’s that?”
“Copycat allows the pokemon to use the move the opponent used just before it.”
“Cool! Eevee, use sand attack!”
He kicks up sand as the wind picks up, sending it at spinda.
“You know what to do!”
Spinda lunges forwards to tackle, but misses.
“Tackle!”
Eevee hits the spinda and she stumbles. The spinda pushes back, hitting eevee.
“Woah, you didn’t even tell her to do that!”
Izumi looks away and rubs the back of her neck. “Yeah, it’s not all that impressive.” She only knows two moves.
“Sand attack!”
Eevee kicks up dirt and spinda tackles him. After some back and forth, Sakuya comes out victorious.
“Congrats on winning your first battle!”
“Thank you!”
She hands him some money.
“What’s this for?”
“It’s customary for the loser to give money to the victor.”
“Oh, you don’t have to.”
“No, you earned it.”
“Ah, thank you.” He sheepishly takes it.
They turn to grab their stuff when Izumi notices they drew someone’s attention.
“Hey! Are you interested in joining our trainer school?”
“Do you work there?”
“Yep! I’m the main teacher.”
“Okay.”
“Good to meet you, I’m Izumi Tachibana.”
“Masumi Usui. I love you.”
Izumi lets out an awkward laugh. “What?”
“Oh hey Masumi!” Sakuya runs over.
“You know him?”
“Yeah, we went to the same school before. He’s a year behind me.”
“So Masumi, do you have your own pokemon?”
“No…”
“That’s alright, I’ll help you catch one!” Masumi perks up. Well this’ll be an experience. “You saw spinda, and this is pachirisu.” The little squirrel climbs up to get a good look at him. He grabs him and holds him out.
“Ah, be careful-” Before she can let out a proper warning, pachirisu discharges, causing Masumi to throw him.
The three of them run after him.
“Hashiru!” They hear someone yell. Suddenly patchiru is grabbed out of the air by a machamp.
“Thank you so much.” Izumi takes back pachirisu, who skitters onto her shoulder.
“No problem.” The man smiles.
“Sorry…” Masumi says.
“No, I should be the one apologizing. It’s not your fault.”
“Machamps are pokemon that evolve through trade, right?” Sakuya asks.
“Yeah, I got him from my brother to help around the house.”
“You have a machamp… just to do house chores?” Izumi looks at him.
“Well it’s good to have an extra pair of hands or two, but we also play soccer.”
A machamp… to play soccer…
“We met him when he was a machop and when he saw us playing he wanted to play too. He’s really gentle. I also have a leavanny but I leave her at home.”
“You see, leavanny makes sense to take care of kids.” She thinks for a moment. “So you’ve had these guys for a long time, huh?”
“Yeah.”
“Would you like to teach at my school?”
“W… what?”
“Do you wanna teach at my school? We have some rooms if you wanna use one. Free meals.”
“I don’t have any experience.”
“That’s fine! You seem to know a lot, and I’m gonna be heading out in a little while and I’ll need someone to watch the class. You don’t need teaching experience to be a sub.”
“I guess… sure. Can I meet the class?”
She steps to the side. Sakuya is smiling and Masumi is glaring at him. “Here they are.”
The man thinks for a moment. “I’m not sure what I was expecting from someone willing to hire a stranger off the street.”
“Izumi Tachibana! I hope you enjoy working with us!”
“Tsuzuru Minagi.”
“Alright. I was just planning on heading back, and I need to show Masumi around, wanna come with?”
“Yeah, alright.”
“Oh, I should mention,” She turns to Masumi. “If you wanna stay in the dorm you’re gonna need permission from your parents.”
“You do?” Sakuya asks.
“Yes…” She looks at him. “Sakuya, please tell me you got permission to stay in the dorm.”
“Oh my god this has been a kidnapping.”
“It’s not kidnapping if I-”
“How old are you?”
“17.”
“It’s a kidnapping, Sakuya. We’re getting permission for you.”
“How do you not know this?” Tsuzuru asks.
“I only started working there yesterday!”
“And you’re allowed to hire people?”
“You should’ve seen how I got hired. Not important right now. Come on, we’re going back to the dorms and calling your parents.”
“I’ll give you my guardians number.”
“You probably won’t get an answer.”
When they get back to the dorm, Izumi nearly knocks the door off its hinges.
“You didn’t contact his guardians?!”
“Ah!” He jumps.
“Matsukawa that’s a crime! Why didn’t you?”
“He told me not to worry about it!”
“Oh yeah, that’d hold up in court!” She grabs the phone and starts to dial. “Hello, am I speaking to the guardians of Sakuya Sakuma?”
The person on the other end sighs. “Yes. What about him?”
“I’m a part of the Mankai pokemon school, I was wondering if it’s okay if he stays in our care, we have a dorm-”
“Yes. Keep him.”
“Okay, have a good day.” She hangs up. “Alright Sakuya, you’re good to stay.”
He gives a small smile and a thumbs up.
She dials the number Masumi gave her. They don’t pick up.
“Hello, I am Izumi Tachibana, the head teacher at Mankai pokemon school. Your son, Masumi, wants to join our school and stay at our dorms. I need your permission for it, so call back when you can!” She leaves a message.
“I told you he wouldn’t pick up…”
“Regardless, I still needed to ask him. At least now he knows and can call back.”
“So who’re they?”
“This is Masumi, our newest student, and Tsuzuru, our newest teacher.”
“Good to meet you.” Tsuzuru says.
Masumi just looks at him.
“So now let’s start the tour!” She starts to show them around before pausing. “Matsukawa, start the tour!”
“What? Why me?”
“Because I just got here yesterday. You know the place better than I do.”
“Alright, let’s go.”
Could I get an a3 matchup? I'm a 5'1 chick with shoulder-length dyed white hair, and I'm a total bundle of socially awkward nerves. I prefer to stay inside during hangouts and watch t.v shows like b99. I also like to play video games!!! Fallout 4, Skyrim, Overwatch, and Minecraft (mmmblocks) and I've been described as a 'funny and easy-going' person (courtesy of my sister). I tend to hold in my problems and try to deal with them myself, because of some trust issues I've had in the past 😰 tyia!
Tumblr media
I’d match you with: Sakuya Sakuma
Tumblr media
➻ one; i think you would get along with pretty much everyone in the mankai but i feel like you would feel a little bit closer to this sunshine boy. Sakuya is a young, cheerful and enthusiastic guy with a friendly attitude. he is very open and bright and is an overall kind person so don’t worry about being socially awkward because before you know it, he will befriend you.
➻ two; once Sakuya got to know you he could totally understand that your sister hit the nail on the head when she described you as funny and easygoing. being with you really made him at ease, especially before his theater shows. he genuinely believes that you’re his lucky charm and he performs better when he knows you’re watching. he also craves headpats from you a lot because he adores the feelings he gets whenever you ruffle his hair, it makes him go all smiley and motivates him to do better. if he is not feeling shy, he will even snuggle next to you whenever he is rehearsing his lines so that you can give him all the headpats he deserves. caution: sometimes he gets sleepy whenever he snuggles next to you while you’re running your fingers through his hair so there are times when he falls asleep next to you. and the next thing you know, you’re both asleep next to each other. also, he knows how bad it feels not to talk about your problems because after losing his parents at a young age, Sakuya was taken in by his relatives, however his new guardians did not seem to care much about him and Sakuya himself seemed to know that he didn't have a place at home. so even if he won’t push you to open up to him, he will just let you know that he is here for you with or without using words. he knows how being lonely feels like and the feeling when you think you can’t open up to anyone and he doesn’t want you to go through that. “Because everybody's here, even at night, I'm not lonely anymore.”
➻ three; Sakuya would gladly sit back and enjoy watching television shows or playing video games with you time to time but i don’t think he is the type of person who would want to stay inside when the weather is nice. at days like those, sometimes he will drag you outside to watch a theater play with him. of course, he won’t shut up about it afterwards but you don’t really mind since you love seeing him happy and the way his eyes sparkle whenever he talks about theater with a smile brighter than sun. when he gets like that, you silently make a promise to yourself that you will support him and his dreams no matter what. if there are not a play that pique your interests, then he will just take you to that river side he loves so much for a stroll, hand in hand. when it’s cold, raining or you don’t want to go out he will drop by your place to spend time with you. maybe you can try teaching him the basics of the games you play? you’d make Itaru very happy too, not gonna lie. or if you don’t feel like gaming, just go and have a lazy day with him on the couch while watching your favorite television shows. he will always let you pick what to watch because he loves seeing you happy just as much as you love seeing him happy.
➻ four; Sakuya’s birthday is on march 9th which makes him a pisces. when scorpio and pisces make a love match, theirs is a splendid union of much respect and understanding. these mates share the same element — water — and thus have keen insight into one another’s minds and hearts. scorpio is very profound and covert, often caught up in their own secret plans, while pisces is idealistic and looks for the nuances of a situation. however, pisces also has a tendency to withdraw into their own mind, and can forgive scorpio for being mysterious or withdrawn at times. both signs are intuitive and in touch with the subtleties of human interaction. scorpio can help pisces fulfill dreams and ambitions — to turn ideas into reality. the scorpion will provide a steadfast foundation for the relationship to revolve around, and the more ephemeral and intuitive fish will become entangled in scorpio’s web. in return, pisces offers gentleness, kindness, and sympathy, which scorpio admires and appreciates. scorpio is interested in certain material comforts and intense emotional dramas, and at times cannot understand the simplistic, charitable attitude of pisces. their long-term aspirations can be completely unalike. once they can understand and overcome this difference, theirs will be a very rewarding relationship.
