- Hamilton (Obviously) die hard fan for 6 years, i also may have just hyperfixated (thats what 100% happened) and now autism won’t let me leave. I write fanfictions for the ship Jamilton (if you know me you know this) “fancy_that” on Ao3 if you’re into that kind of stuff! -FNAF. About 9 years into this thing now, maybe not as over the top as some of the other fandoms i’m in but its still a goodie. I wrote one terrible fanfiction about it in the 6th grade and now i just look at fanart.

-TMNT. 10 years going strong I have seen EVERY SINGLE movie and tv show associated with these turtles and they’re great every time, Donatello stan for life, again now my days are mostly spent looking at fanart tiktok edits and headcanons -Pokemon. 8 years now. I have played every game, have a decent card collection (only of the ones i find cute, sad ik) have seen every show and they are the only games i buy on a whim (Scarlet/Violet i’m coming for you)

-Stardew Valley. Only about a year and half I’ve been playing this now. It’s literally my favorite thing (Harvey and Haley I will die for you) its an amazing game, it has farming, romance, lore, mystery you name it, i highly reccomend you play it if you have not! And its nice to find memes i actually relate to!

I’m also just in the musical theater fandom as a whole, “Ride The Cyclone” has me in a chokehold right now and i’ve only listened to two songs, also I’m getting back in my “Little Shop Of Horrors” phase.

Along with of course my hyperfixations: Botany (the one succulent in my house is currently thriving after i dropped it and totally chopped it in half) Ornithology (I will love and talk about birds until I die) Literature (horror books for the win of course) Really anything horror at all (please talk to me about Art the Clown)

I had my own idea for a trans Alex story, but I want to make this one good.

Okay, so Alex is in his mid to late 20s, he’s been out for about over ten years at this point. He got top surgery, has been taking T, has a goatee, and besides being a little short, like shorter than Hamilton usual (or maybe same height, idk), you’d mistake him for a cis man. He was with Eliza for a long time, unmarried, but they had kids, (intro-vitriol, John was the sperm donor, with Eliza’s eggs)

So like this one night, he needs to go on a business trip with TJeff, who have a major rivalry. So they end up booking a hotel room together and omg, there’s only one bed! Things go on, Thomas finds out he’s trans and ends up sleeping with him.

And it just goes on. They become fuck buddies, and it’s good at first, but Alex is starting to wonder, was Thomas only doing this because Alex was trans, as in, Thomas fetishized trans people. That really fucks him up for a few days and after a while when Alex suggests he fuck Thomas, with a strap-on, since he wasn’t always the bottom when paired with all his other partners, and Thomas freaks out and says no.

I don’t know what to do after this, but if anyone wants to use this idea, go for it! I’m gonna not finish it either way *cries*.

I think it’s about time that I finally addressed this! I don’t want people to think I hate the musical, or I hate anybody associated with it because that could not be further from the truth! I’m actually going to see it in London in a few months time!

A little background info here is that I have been an amrev stan since I was quite young, which is quite a rare thing to say I know. I use to watch shows centred around the war, documentaries with my older brother, we would read books together, and I unironically wrote a full essay on why Lafayette was beneficial to the Rev when I was about ten for an 2000 word writing competition (I’m going to find that lmao it was wild) so I’ve loved the history for well over a decade.

When the Hamilton musical was announced I was so freaking hyped up because finally a musical about something I enjoyed was taking the stage, sure I had Les Mis (I also love the French Rev) but this was something specifically tailored towards something I’ve loved for years, with a very talented and experienced writer behind the wheel. It combined my two favourite things, history and musicals.

My brother and I watched a bootleg (I know I know I’m sorry, I was very very excited for this musical and I just couldn’t help it) and we were both so disappointed. The timeline was all off, the characters (sparing maybe Eliza) were out of character for either comedic timing or for plot purposes, and I didn’t really like Lin-Manuel as Alexander either (and that still stands actually) my brother and I described it as a waste of our three hours.

A little while later I decided to give it another shot by myself, and I somewhat enjoyed it a little more. Once I tried to overlook what I disliked about the history element, I realised I enjoyed it quite a bit. The songs are all bops, very well written, and very solid. Christopher Jackson’s voice is impeccable, Philippa Soo is an angel, and Leslie Odom Jr is a king. I then began listening to the songs repeatedly, and once I could differentiate my two interests ‘Hamilton the musical’ and the ‘American revolution and history as a whole’ I began to enjoy it a lot more.

Now this goes without mentioning the very very awful (stereotyped) fan base Hamilton has. Now, I’ve met so many people who enjoy this musical who are some of the loveliest people I know! My discord friends all really like Hamilton and right now they are the only thing that can make me smile on the daily! So I completely understand this definitely does NOT apply to everybody. But the toxic stans who would rip apart anybody who disagreed with lams or Jamilton and who would bully anybody whose opinion differed to those really really continued to put me off the whole thing too. (Again, this isn’t Miranda’s fault either, it’s just another confounding factor for my dislike towards it)

And although I’ve definitely adapted with time sometimes it still hurts me that something so close to my childhood and still so close to my heart won’t be remembered for what it is. People will no longer remember the shitty things Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton and many more did, instead they are idolised as these sassy bois who did no wrong, even Hamilton’s affair is glorified at this point.

Maybe I’m just being selfish and self indulgent, but it does pain me that Hamilton is widely remembered as this:

Now, I know that Miranda has done a lot for this guy in a sense of getting his name out there. I’m one of the many few who knew Hamilton before the musical, I’ll be forever grateful this man has gotten so many people into American history, but the fact is the ratios don’t line up.

To conclude:

I’m a since-childhood amrev stan who was greatly looking forward to a musical about a time period greatly ignored in modern media, who became highly disappointed when I looked at it from a history geek’s point of view. While looking at it from a musical interpretation, it’s a masterpiece, but the history nerd in me will always reign triumphantly, history has been apart of my life since I could walk, I want everybody to know just how interesting it is, both the good and bad parts, and to have it remembered in such an inaccurate historical way just makes me sad and a lil disappointed.

But hey! We can’t have everything we want at the end of the day! I’m just grateful I have lots of people in the amrev fandom to talk too about my fascinations now :)

Love both bdjsdhj although rivals/enemies to lovers is my absolute favourite, like cannot live without it😭😭😭 probably kinda obvious since I’m a jamilton stan. There’s nothing that hits quite like bickering and snarky jabs, the begrudging respect, and of course the “oh. oh.” moment!! The casual sex —> catching feelings trope is also a favourite of mine and goes with this very nicely :)

Lovers to enemies always hits for me, although I never seek it out specifically and it’s always fucking devastating so like it either has to have “to lovers” tacked onto the end or I can never reread that fic again because it emotionally wrecked me. Also I consider Hamilton/Burr’s relationship in canon to fall under this trope and that’s why non-fluffy hamburr fics always have me crying throwing up etc.

I started a Room Where It Happens Animatic in June and haven’t really touched it since then. Just wanted to share what I have so far!! The ship was ruined for me. I despise fanon John Laurens, and there are very few Lams stories that have some variety in them. On top of the fact that John Laurens stans scare me to death because they are so rude and only want to defend their "uwu smol bean turtle boi"

His fans ruined him and every Lams fic I read is "John is so smol and bullied by his family and he's just a cutesy little baby who must be protected at all costs"

Plus majority of Lams shippers hate Jamilton shippers.

Okay so, I’ve chosen the 4 biggest Hamilton ships and I’m gonna give my opinion! Starting with the smallest of the biggest and working my way up!

Mullette:

Lafayette x Hercules is wonderful and amazing and I love it. Y’all can have your opinions like I have mine, but I adore this ship! I think the dynamic is very cute, and personally headcannon Laf as Pan and Herc as bi. But yes, I think this ship is very cute.

For the next two ships I couldn’t decide which was more popular, so I’ve just put them in this order, I think they’re about the same.

Jamilton:

9/10 I like it a lot

I won’t comment on this since it seems to be quite a controversial ship, but just know it’s all tumblrs fault that I LOVE this ship.

Okay, I was like all of y’all when I joined this fandom. I was young, and I was lams obsessed. And then amino ruined it and made John one of my least favourite characters, I started DESPISING this Guy because of the toxic amino fandom and their sTUPID FUCKING HEADCANNONS

I’m slowly beginning to love John again, but I will never be able to rekindle my love for lams. Now, it’s just a ship I use because it works. JeffMads and mullette are in a story? Okay throw some lams in. I will never make a full, multi chapter based on lams, unlike what I’ve done for all the other three (at least I’m working on Jamilton)

I hate the fact I can’t seem to ship it but honestly, if you can’t offer me Jamilton, then I’ll take Hamlaf or Mulliham over this.

Laflams? Now that’s something I can get behind!
