The difference between the tragedy of Edwin's and Charles' lives and deaths and what makes Charles' much more compelling to me is that Edwin never had anyone he could trust: he grew up with distant parents who i imagine he saw rarely and could not confide in, then he went to school and was immediately recognized as other in a way he had not fully realized of himself yet and was killed for it, and then comes hell and well who can u trust in hell? Certainly not the things that chase you until your legs ache, and even if your compatriots in the whole ordeal are as innocent as you, trapped in the same technicality, what is the good of trusting them, when they are just as helpless as you?
But Charles? Everyone Charles was supposed to trust betrayed him. His parents were close to him, atleast somewhat, atleast his father was around enough to get sick of hearing owner of a lonely heart, and his mother was around enough to watch his father beat him and be silently horrified and ultimately not do anything about it, maybe she stepped in once and we just never saw it, but I wouldn't bet on it, Charles' mom is 'quiet' that's her defining feature to Charles not protective or gentle just 'quiet', then Charles gets to school and he is popular he has friends! He has people who care for him (or should maybe, as long as he's good at sports like he's needed to be) and then he stands up for one person, because he has always wanted to be good and maybe he trusts himself to do it just this once and his friends kill him and his own actions signed the death warrant and he cannot even trust himself to do the right thing properly (it never got better and then you died)
And maybe, maybe Edwin does it too, with less intention to hurt, and with less knowledge but Charles and Edwin trust eachother maybe more than anything (maybe Charles would sooner slip away from earth's gravity than stop putting his trust in Edwin who he thinks is good and smart and brills and aces) and maybe Edwin still looks at Charles trying to protect him after Charles has had maybe the worst week of his existence and says "that was a bit...... extreme" and Edwin still promises Charles can tell him anything while hiding himself in a way that makes Charles feel untrustworthy
So yeah I'll never stop thinking about the tragedy of Charles Rowland actually 👍 think about him with me

Octokuber, day 1 - Rider
If I didn't rep my boy Shinji on the first day, I would persecute myself to my dying days.
Dragon Knight was popular where I grew up, so young me would try looking for the show online and be greeted with Ryuki. I hold him accountable for all my current illnesses 🫶

i think some of the popularity that meta horror has garnered is a little bit disingenuous tbqh even though i do like some of the movies that have come out of the subgenre, people don’t realize that the foundation of the slasher genre was established in the 60s/70s and a lot of the 80s movies that have become so classic were already riffing off of the tropes established by those movies before full fledged meta took off. the idea to make friday the 13th was sparked by the commercial success of halloween. the original script for slumber party massacre was a parody of the genre and the movie retains much of that humor which is referential to past slashers by nature. + it intentionally uses typical slasher tropes around gender and sexuality to bring forward the concerns of teenage girls. is that not something that meta horror is frequently touted as doing? child’s play is like a slasher, “except — which is what a lot of meta horror comedies do now (“slasher except it’s a possessed doll” is not that far off from “slasher except it’s freaky friday” and whatnot). this isn’t to say that scream isn’t foundational to what the slasher genre evolved into or that contemporary meta slashers aren’t doing something interesting but i also think they tend to lean towards cynicism towards the movies they’re deriving their themes from + they’re not even as different as they think they are from “classic” 80s movies that already are borrowing from classic slashers which in turn borrowed from even older horror (for example, in halloween, laurie is watching the thing from another world from the 50s which was adapted into the now classic john carpenter’s the thing in the 80s). and of course many of these older horror movies were adapted from literature which also inspired more literature. like the shelley/byron/polidori scary story writing contest is now legendary but also you don’t get the shining without the haunting of hill house (and you don’t get the haunting of hill house without turn of the screw, for example) and the shining is probably one of the most referenced movies by other media of all time. horror has always been an intertextual genre let’s stop pretending it didn’t become “self aware” until 1996

"what kind of law did astarion pass to piss off the gur so much 😂"
aside from the fact magisters don't pass laws, the implication that cazador was just kind of casually waiting around for his moment bc knew astarion was Such a dickhead that someone was going to beat his ass to death eventually is extremely funny

my nieces got a lil worksheet at their summer camp to fill out about their family members, and they gifted one to me on father's day. turns out all they know about me is that im goddamn funny and im willing to toss them around still—beyond that im a man of mystery 😂 7 and 5 years old i've known them i've spoiled them and these kids couldn't tell you a damn thing about me except im fucking hilarious 😤 just the way i like it
anyways single dad steve dropping his kid off to the same summer camp every year only to be bombarded with stories about the same volunteer summer after summer except his kid doesn't know the guys name or anything else just
"daddy he's so funny!"
"oh really? what's funny about him?"
"i don't know"
"... well what did he say?"
"i don't know"
"what games did you play?"
"i don't know"
"what's he look like?"
"i don't know"
"his name????"
"i don't know"
steve's half convinced that his brain damage is congenital or that the summer camp is haunted by an extremely silly ghost

i wanna give whoever came up with the season 5 episode names a big whack on the head with a comically large hammer. WHY did you think it was a good idea to name 7 successive episodes revelation/revolution/representation/recreation and conformation/confrontation/collusion ?????
'in the ep where kagami gets akumatised-' 'protection?' 'oh no i meant the other one' 'perfection?' 'wait no i meant the one where kagami's mother got akumatised' 'ohhh pretension!' DO YOU SEE HOW STUPID THIS IS?? WHO CAME UP WITH THIS AGHJFDSKANB
