I'm guessing this is a question for me, the mun, and not Sonia? Tbh Sonia likes Sun Witch ♪ Esper Ito! She may have dressed as the heroine from the magical girl anime for Halloween once. Or twice.
In any case, I'll answer for myself:
That's a really funny question for someone my age (aka. old) because there was a time that such a question was pretty much the way one found out if someone liked anime in general or not.
For many in my generation, Sa.ilor Mo.on was the first anime I ever watched: in bits and pieces as a kid and then finally the 90s series in entirety, plus the PocketMixx manga, 20+ years ago in middle school. I remember watching Pretty Guardian S.ail.or Mo.on when it came out as well (very pixelated streams hours after the episodes premiered in Japan!). I watched a little of Sa.il.or Mo.on Crystal but didn't go further than the first handful of episodes, though: by the time it came out, magical girl series weren't really my favorite genre. Though I will always hold a soft spot for Rev.olutio.nary Girl Ut.ena and its predecessor/not magical girl but many tropes apply, Ro.se of Ver.sailles.
I remember renting a lot of the DIC VHS tapes in the very late 90s/early 2000s, though. And I had the movies on VHS (and maybe one or two on DVD, when DVDs were still a new thing!). Sa.ilor Mo.on S: The movie and the manga story it was based on were my favorites though: as a kid, I was always asked to pick my favorite senshi, which proved to be a challenge because my favorite character overall was always Luna.
And I still love eating konpeito/sugar stars for this reason.
Shoutout: If you remember renting the Sai.lor Mo.on movies/DIC tapes from Block.buster or another movie rental store, it's time for you to take your pain medicine, check for gray hairs, and dread your next high school reunion.
