Evergreen is part faerie in my rewrite, a descendant of the Tenroujima clan of Faeries

which is why her wings are real in my rewrite

If anyone is in need of a silly tennis story, here's one for you:

You know the ceremonial Wimbledon Champions' dance which has become a thing again in recent years?

It's an old tradition but it had been pretty much forgotten about until a player thought to bring it back. They even got the approval of the chairman of the All England Club and of course then had to run this by the other player who won the Championship that year, who happened to be Serena Williams.

Now before you even ask who would be brave enough to ask Serena Williams to dance... yes of course it was Novak Djokovic.

They danced to 'Night Fever' by the Bee Gees because why the hell not.

But what Novak in his usual impulsiveness did not think about or perhaps did not care about was that this meant that he was settling every winner thereafter with this dance tradition again - which, since he did this in 2015, meant that, sure enough, in 2016 one Andy Murray immediately got asked about whether he would dance with the winner of the Women's Championship who happened to be, once again, Serena Williams.

Well, who would be brave enough to refuse to dance with Serena Williams? Yeah, you've guessed it.

She really needed the money. That was what she repeated to herself. Especially considering that she was still paying for the medical bills from the car accident. Serena felt dirty, she had never been too adept at relationships and men in general. She admitted it and had to say that she hadn't been in a stable relationship since high school. Ever since she started working at the strip club as a waitress, she had decided to suck all her feelings of her up and just lock them into a small part of her mind to survive night after night. When Serena opened her door she definitely hadn't expected to see him, her student's father of her. More importantly, Roman was not only the father of her student but had also been without a doubt the love of her life. At first she thought she had the wrong room but then she realized that she was actually in the right room and that life definitely hated her "I-" Serena opened her mouth to say something but she closed it quickly. . Suddenly feeling more uncomfortable than usual and feeling that the clothes she was wearing didn't cover enough. Of course that didn't matter because Roman had seen everything he could see a long time ago. Wait a second, he wasn't married? Why was he requesting escort services?

Lowkey Serena wished she could disappear. The wedding had been lovely tho and she was happy for Emma and Eric, but with the chaos of the weekend she still hadn't been able to wrap her head around the fact that her boyfriend had been cheating on her and that she she had found out only two days ago. Serena's taste in men was terrible, she definitely could tell herself that, just picked idiots apparently.

Doug. She saw him during the ceremony, he was Eric's best man and Serena was one of Emma's bridesmaids. She couldn't stop her gaze from drifting to him during the ceremony, Douglas looked so incredibly hot in that suit that Serena was almost sure it took the breath away of most of the female guests. Damn sure he took her breath away for a bit. They were both older but she could still see the guy who had been her high school crush for much of her teenage years and then he had ended up dating her sister, Taylor.

"Second chance romance" It was how Emma had called it. She had been more than excited to see if Douglas and Serena could get together now that they were both single at the same time. Serena tho believed that this train had already passed but Emma had been more committed to seeing what could happen or not between them than with her own wedding. Emma was brooding over the fact that they were both technically single even though Serena was still having trouble considering herself single. It hadn't even been a week since everything blew up with her ex. Her friend had squealed (literally) when Serena was the one that grabbed the bouquet before modulating "second chance romance" causing Serena to roll her eyes. Emma was being ridiculous. He was avoiding him on purpose honestly, she didn't want to allow herself to feel anything.

By the time an Emma, a little cheerier from too many drinks, had approached Douglas to tell him God knew what, Serena knew they'd probably talked about her from the look he was giving her now, burning her from the inside.
