what do you label your muse as, and how do they label themselves? is there a difference, and if so, why?

//thank you for asking this one, because this is one i actually was kinda hoping to talk about, haha!

so, i label salvatore as a polyamorous greyromantic bisexual trans man (i did originally list him as pan, but i think bi vibes a bit more with him specifically as a label, but honestly i'm not really gonna get into all of that right now because to me personally the minutiae doesn't matter too much. point is, he's attracted to all genders.)

sal labels himself, however, as nothing. he doesn't use any labels for himself for the most part, and in fact he barely understands what any queer labels actually mean. i think he'd call himself queer eventually after he comes to accept himself a lot more down the line, and he may even finally actually consider himself transsexual, but until then if you ask him he'll probably say, "what are you, a cop?"

and this is a bit twofold for salvatore in my intentions. for one thing, i love writing a queer character who doesn't know *shit*. i was joking with a friend recently that there's a good chance that salvatore, at least for a time, thought he was the first and only trans man to exist. that's how much he doesn't know shit. like characters who know themselves super well are all fine and dandy, but i think it's interesting to have a character who doesn't know how to put words to his experiences.

and my other thought is that salvatore gets to be the reflection of the part of me that's kinda tired of trying to label every part of my queer experience. to be clear, there is *nothing* wrong with having a lot of labels or microlabels or anything like that. at the end of the day, if the label serves you and your experiences, that's what matters.

but like........ i'm kinda tired, y'all. part of me likes to joke about being a label hoarder and that's fun, but i'm also like. i just kinda wanna be Just Some Guy. my gender is both complicated and simple and so is my orientation, and sal can be like that too. for me personally, it's not really that useful to stress about finding the perfect labels to define me. i'm just a guy! i'm here, i'm queer, and i'm just a guy.

Stefan always makes a point of sending flowers unexpectedly, just to see your smile light up the room. He also loves writing old-fashioned letters, expressing his deepest feelings and making it clear how much you mean to him.

Besides, he loves surprising you with small gestures of affection, like preparing a romantic candlelit dinner or arranging special outings for the two of you. His dedication and attention to detail show how passionate he is about you. He may not necessarily eat food, but if you are human, he will be happy to prepare it for you.

You are everything to him and he can't lose you. Stefan can't lose the one person who loves him deeply, the one person he loves more than anything. He can't lose you.

Even if you try to leave him, he will still lurk, like a ghost watching you. Stefan just wants to make sure you're okay and there's nothing wrong with that, right? Just keep your mind straight and give him all the love in the world and Stefan will make up you for it.

Angie has made a few comments resulting in her getting kicked off into space but once Donna warms her about that and how you don't like it, she'll stop in respect towards you. Which is rare considering how Angie is.

she'd go on trips to fight whatever monsters were taking over mystic falls that week

and she wouldn't tell you where she was going

it would be pretty much radio silence from her unless you were making out in the janitor's closet

but somehow, hope NEVER bit you

(even though she sometimes wanted to because she's so obsessed with you)

it's like deep down, even with her lack of emotion,

she never wanted to hurt you in any way

even if she could technically heal you

hope having her humanity off takes a toll on you

you're used to having her around, being her silly, loving self

and having her spend hours and even days away from you isn't easy

but when she turns her humanity back on, hope immediately realizes how badly you're hurting

and she feels awful, even though she knows she has minimal control over what she does without her humanity

no joke she would just hug you for so long and apologize to you over and over for being neglectful

and she'd spend the next week never leaving your side

being super soft and touchy and just showing you a lot of extra love

which you would appreciate so much, knowing your girl is back <3

i see vampire!oscar as like a mix between edward cullen and stefan salvatore. he'd be the brooding type, but not like an annoying amount. like the acceptable amount for a vampire.

he was turned in the late 1800's so he's a been around the block a few times.

hates new vampires who prefer to drink their blood from blood bags. what's the point of being a vampire if you can't relish in it and drink straight from the source??

When you decided to seek out a career in being an instructor, not once did you think that you would wind up with a job to teach at Mesagoza’s well-known academy. 

Clavell was more than pleased to welcome you to the faculty. You were invited to come to the academy and get familiar with the place before the new school year commenced. 

During that visit, you came across some of your new colleagues, who all happily introduced themselves and offered to show you around the academy. All of them were incredibly kind, but you found your gaze continuously gravitating towards one in particular.

The slightly disheveled, easy-going man who looked like he’d appreciate a quick nap.

 From the moment that his eyes landed on you, he smiled softly and greeted you with a cute, “Hello, hello!”

After that visit, you two started to become closer to one another. It was far too easy to fall into long conversations with him. Which only started to become a bit of a problem when you would both realize that you’re running late to your own classes. 

Speaking of your class, you teach Pokemon Handling. The ways to care for various types of Pokemon and what’s necessary to ensure they live healthy lives.

There are times where your lessons branch off to the biology aspects of these Pokemon types, which leads to you and Jacq planning lessons to do joint classes. 

It doesn’t take long for the students to pick up on how you stare at Jacq, most likely the most interested in his rambling, when he starts to get into specifics and the way that Jacq looks more energized and at peace when you’re stepping in to share your own knowledge.

This has led to these students coming up with theories about you two. A lot of speculations arise, questions going on whether you two were even interested in men. Regardless, there are those that compare the way you two are to Hassel and Brassius, which only spawns in more discussions on your guys’ relationship.

Of course, students being students, they attempt to ask in what they believe are subtle ways. Anytime Jacq asks if anyone has any questions, he’s surprised to see the amount of hands going on when he’s been accustomed to them being more prepared to leave over anything else.

There are no words to describe the shock that washed over him when the question pertained to you and whether he likes you. Of course, he’s chuckling lightly while he runs his fingers through his already messy hair as he struggles to come up with a response. 

No, he’s not surprised that his students managed to pick up on his growing feelings. They’re a smart bunch and very observant. Maybe a bit too observant for their own good.

He’ll try to direct the conversation back to the topic on hand though he does mention that he likes you very much, in a platonic sense (not that any of his students believe that part) and considers you to be a brilliant instructor.

The rumors only grow faster once that happened.

If you thought it was only your students attempting to meddle however they can then you’d be very mistaken. The other faculty start to get involved as well in their own ways.

Salvatore offers cute phrases in other languages to say, and Saguaro talks a lot about how you and Jacq should go out on a picnic and the many sandwiches you could make together. 

Once you both start dating, it’s as if everyone in the academy can tell. Many of the students are happy to see two of their favorite instructors with each other, especially when they caught on that they were crushing beforehand. The other faculty members tease you both for doing the slightest bit of affection in the lounge room.

Every time you head into the lounge room, you always have a second drink just for Jacq. And each time, he will thank you by pressing a gentle kiss to your temple.

There are moments where he feels so tired but one glance at you gives him the motivation to get through the rest of the day. He greatly appreciates that you’re able to sense when his internal battery is dwindling down and welcomes the cuddles that you initiate with him. Expect to have plenty of dates that involve napping together.

You’re the one to make sure that he doesn’t drown himself in his research. Jacq has the tendency to lose track of time, unless he has something scheduled with you, so you’re often the one that your other colleagues ask to go find him to pull him out of his work.

Anytime he discovers something new, you’re the first person he turns to. You always listen to him attentively. He does the same in return whenever you get in a rambling mood, especially when you’re caring for your or his Pokemon and talk about some fun facts about little quirks or things that the Pokemon like. 

Whenever he catches you battling for any reason, whether you’re helping him with his research or you’re both simply out and about, he’s always in awe at your strength. 

The second that you turn around to return back to him, he’s staring at you with such a tender look on his face. “That’s my boyfriend!” He praises, eyes closing as he smiles at you. Your strength and Pokemon is a wonder and he will never get tired of watching you.

and it made the lonely 100+ years of his life worth it, because at the end of the dark tunnel, there you were

yeah, he liked to go on and on about how much fun being a vampire is, and it was mostly true

but there was always a void inside him that was left empty

and with you, that void was filled beyond the brim

you helped remind him of the simple pleasures in life, like eating a decadent dessert together, or watching the sunset together at the end of a long day

you reminded him of what it was like to truly be at peace

So when he falls in love with a Mikaelson? He just knows this is fates next cruel joke

You meet when Klaus is pretty much enemy number one and while there’s immediate tension you both know nothing can happen

But Damon can’t help himself, he’s always looked towards danger instead of away from it and he finds himself being more and more intrigued by you with every spat you have. He’s drawn to you in confrontations with the Mikaelson’s because verbally sparring with you is the highlight of his day

When the family eventually makes up with everyone and they form a tentative friendship Klaus approaches Damon and informs him that if he breaks his sisters heart he’ll make sure to rip his clean out

That’s the first time that Damon gets even an inkling that you’re attracted to him too

He knows it’s a bad idea to pursue you, you have dangerous family connections and he’s seen what happened to Stefan after he broke Rebekah’s heart

But he’s Damon Salvatore and he can’t help but run towards all bad ideas

The next time you run into each other it of course begins with arguments and ends with you in his bed releasing some of that sexual tension that’s been obvious between you two since day one

What Damon doesn’t expect is to fall in love with you and that’s when he starts to think fate really does have it out for him

Somewhere Inbetween the partying and sex and “no strings” fun he’d gotten to know you and he’d found a person unlike anyone he’d known before

A kindred spirit of sorts who understands the torment of being a vampire whilst also revelling in the fun of it

He’s completely whipped but too self destructive to do anything about it because he knows if you don’t feel the same it would kill him a thousand times more than Katherine’s betrayal did.

In the end it’s the most unlikely duo that gets you and Damon together. Klaus and Stefan teaming up for a 20s esque adventure to get you two to stop being idiots and admit your feelings.

When you finally do your love is naturally “more epic than Stefan and Elena’s” as Damon puts it

Damon can’t believe he fell in love with a Mikealson but you joke that he’s unstable and unpredictable enough to fit right in.

Do you have any hc about Damon's season 1 powers? I'm especially interested in shapeshifter!damon. The whole concept is quite fun to imagine. Also why do you think he has these extra powers? Personally after the whole lily thing I like to imagine that Damon is an untrained heretic. Also a scenario where hos powers would be revealed to scooby gang and/or the mikaelsons.

okay, okay so. Prepare for a short essay. (Sorry)

Intro!! So, in the Vampire Diaries books, vampires have Powers (capital letter and all) that feature things like weather manipulation, shapeshifting, flying, elemental control, telepathy, I think they can see auras or sense other vampire's Power. The books and the show are only like barely related. A lot was changed to make the show. (The Salvatores' ages, for one--they'd been Renaissance era men who'd killed each other in a duel over, you guessed it, Katherine. A ton of characters had personality changes (show Bonnie is better, imo), and book Caroline was an antagonist, plus Jeremy straight up didn't exist, Elena had a v young sister. So on, so forth, everything ended up super different.)

The show started off a (teeny) bit closer to the source material, but sharply diverged, including getting rid of the Powers thing. Something about it being too supernatural???? in the vampire show??? idk might have to fact check me on that one think I read it somewhere random.

But, as we know, it's heavily implied, and outright stated in some cases in early S1 that Show!Damon has access to some kind of power. Controlling the weather, controlling animals (perhaps shapeshifting, but maybe just a connection), and a long distance kind of hypnosis.

What we know about it:

In episode 1, a crow is seen following Elena around. It shows up multiple times. In the car with Bonnie, at the graveyard, when she goes to the Salvatore House for the first time. The crow heralds Damon's reappearance to his brother. Stefan says, "Crow's a bit much-" which implies this is a Thing that he knows about. Damon replies, "Wait until you see what I can do with fog."

The very first scene Damon is in, the opening with the couple on the way back from some concert (i think) it's foggy. They mention something about it that implies it shouldn't be foggy, or that it wasn't previously. Like, "What's with all the fog?" At the graveyard, Elena sees a crow, then it starts becoming much more foggy.

Bonnie, at some point, touches Elena and says she sees a crow, some fog, and a man.

It's foggy when Vicki is attacked.

So. We've established those two things. Moving on.

There's that one scene where Damon is locked up and long distance compels Caroline to free him--i think after calling the crow into his cell and eating it to gain that strength? maybe--it's heavily implied because he fed on her they have a connection he can use to influence her mind without direct compulsion.

I'm sure there's other examples, but I can only watch so much of S1 at a time.

OKAY!! now that that's been established, time for the fun headcanon stuff.

Firstly, I also love shapeshifting!Damon! Tis good fun and it lets me project gender envy i mean it's a great metaphor about vampires being inhuman!! Yes! That! Nothing else ahahahahaha. Something something, predator's perspective, something something instincts. In the book Damon could turn into a large crow and a wolf. Highkey wish they'd kept the crow thing as more than just the occasional motif. It could have been so much fun!! Crow minions!!! Crow friends!!!! Crows bothering the fuck out of people he wants to annoy!!!!! Damon trades shinies and food for things!! Somehow always has a snack on him. Crow drama??? Just casually mentions weird lil bird rivalries. Crows are Smart! They are super social!!! They hold grudges!! They absolutely have Drama on par with Mystic Falls. It could also be played for angst; Katherine announces her return with with a bunch of bird corpses in the Boarding House. Damon, who is unsympathetic to human deaths could be visibly upset by this!! Also nicely plays into the 'likes animals but pretends he doesn't bc it's a weakness' thing.

Comes home and there is feathers in his hair, nearly blending in. Except, on closer look, they're positioned oddly, like they'd been growing from him instead of just settling there. Then he brushes them off or shakes his head and they fall away. Maybe Stefan notices he's a bit more prone to tilting his head at things to get a better looks. Is a bit more easily distracted/more prone to notice shiny things.

A crow follows Elena around and maybe she makes friends with it. Or a crow comes across Stefan having some angst fest in the forest and bothers him into a better mood.

I like the heretic thing!!! I also just think the Salvatore bloodline is magic charged bc it's a doppelganger line!! They've got Silas germs!! Maybe Damon is a little bit more psychic than he should be. Maybe his compulsions require less effort and his dream-walking is better than vampires twice his age!!! Mild telekinesis would also fit in with early S1 nonsense! moving doors to creep Elena out!

As for his powers being revealed... I mean. Suddenly he's more valuable to the Originals? Not as much as Elena was, but there would prob be more recruitment efforts than in canon. Plus, Kol would be more interested in him as more than a batting target. Klaus and Elijah may press the 'saved ur life thing' more. Hm... I guess it would depend on when in the show? Early seasons and it just makes him more a threat. Stefan maybe assuming he did something to a witch??? Later in the seasons and if he develops those powers it's fun to imagine him having to learn to use/control them + having to deal with increased need for blood to fuel them. If it was a matter of him keeping them secret, I'm sure the Drama will manifest with 'how could you not tell me!!' and so on and so forth. Technically speaking, I imagine it'd be put in the same place as Jeremy's medium powers. Brought up when needed. not entirely sure, may think on it later

Headcanons of being a witch who specialises in healing magic and what falling in love/dating Stefan Salvatore would include...

Your family and the Salvatore family has always been familiar with each other but that didn't mean your ancestors liked them. Witches and vampires weren't meant to be friends... and then you met Stefan.

Stefan was different. He wasn't like any other vampire you'd come across. His brother Damon was horrific, you hated him and you suspected Stefan would be the same but when you met him he was... kind. He was respectful.

He had come to you asking for help to defend them and their friends. He knew about the history your ancestors had with him but he thought that you would see he was different than his family and you did see that.

After you'd helped, after using your magic to heal various friends of his, he takes you home and gives you a very sincere and grateful thank you.

From there, you can't shake him. He's under your skin and you often find yourself thinking of the younger Salvatore brother.

He comes to you for help more often and one day, the two of you get trapped in a cellar, which you cannot get out of. Stefan knows that his brother will get you both out of there but it would take a while so... you start to talk and start getting to know each other.

You find out that he drinks animal blood not human blood but he also tells you about his Ripper past. You don't judge him, you actually respect that he knows about his addiction and actively doesn't partake despite his nature.

You find yourself opening up to him. He listens and he doesn't judge you either.

When you finally get out, you find your mind wandering to Stefan more and more often.

You become closer to Bonnie, making a connection with another witch was helpful. Becoming closer with Bonnie means that you're around Stefan a lot more.

It's Bonnie that nudges you one day and asks you outright if you like Stefan. You deny immediately but she eyes you curiously. She doesn't drop it, she becomes convinced that you do have feelings for him and tells you at every possible minute.

You and Stefan spend more time together and you find yourselves laughing and joking, surprising a few of your friends how close the two of you seem to be. He's the one you go to when you need help or advice and he comes to you when he's stressed about something.

Bonnie is convinced you fancy him but it's not until she sees the two of you together that she realises he likes you too. She then does anything she can to make the two of you be alone together.

This ends up being not so subtle, she literally locks you both in a room together and uses a spell to seal the door shut, not even you can break out of it.

At first you and Stefan just awkwardly sit down but after a while, he starts to talk.

"She won't let us out until I come clean so... I've been hiding my feelings from you for a while. When I first came to you for help, I never realised what I was getting myself into. You don't speak for a long time, you're just processing the fact that he just told you that he's in love with you. It isn't until he touches your hand that you snap back into reality. You confess your own feelings for him, telling him that you feel the same. "I came into this with an idea of what vampires were like, my family always warned me about them but meeting you... you're different. You care about everyone you meet... Why wouldn't I fall in love with you, Stefan?"

He kisses you passionately, hand cupping your cheek, and the seal on the door fades away meaning that you're both free to go. Neither of you move though, instead you stay in the room kissing and cuddling.

Your relationship develops quite quick from there. Stefan takes you out, taking you for dinner, taking you to see his favourite sites, dates to the bookstore to pick out books for the other. He likes spending time with you no matter what it is that you're doing.

He likes seeing your magic and your powers, he finds you and your powers so interesting.

Stefan is really protective over you but he knows that you can handle yourself. You're his vice, the one thing he would kill for. He loves you and would do anything to keep you safe even if that means putting himself in harms way.
