Last night I had a lively conversation with @olivish about Wilford and Melanie essentially needing each other as scapegoats, and, well, this is kinda the result.

May I present:

Into the White/Freeze, 🎶Your Fault🎶

*to the tune of the song from Into the Woods

Layton: (to Melanie) It's because of you that the Tail's so cold and the world is dead!

Melanie: But it isn't my fault! I had no choice, I had to build this train and trade away my daughter for a chance, just a tiny hope, that humanity could survive. And without this train, there'd have been no ark, to save humanity in the first place!

Wilford: Wait a minute! (to Melanie) You say "my train", did you forget who paid for every nut and bolt, was it worth the strain? Or how about the fact that it bears my name? Oh and tell us who persuaded you to steal it away--

Layton: (to Ben) See, it's your fault!

Ben: What?

Wilford: Ha! (Pointing) Yes, it's his fault!

Melanie: No, it was my idea.

Wilford: What?

Layton: (to Melanie) So it is your fault...

Ben: And it wasn't mine at all!

Wilford: No!

Melanie: (to Wilford) And we only stole the train to save humanity, from you.

Melanie: (to Layton) See they were his rules, and his plans, oh dear, let's just say if he were king we'd all be a lot colder-

Wilford: Wait a minute! (to Melanie) Let's not forget that without my jacks you'd have been shot or worse, it was chaos at the end and it was my firm hand that saved your skin in the first place!

Layton: Hold up! (to Wilford) All your jacks, weren't worth a dime, did you really think it through that time? No you didn't! All those jacks with sticks and nothing to lose, made our life such hell, keeping us in our place just cause they could.

Wilford: (to Layton) So sorry, who are you?

Melanie: (to Wilford) If you hadn't gone and filled our train with so much muscle, we'd have had more room for the ones who could restart life in the first place!

Ben: (pointing to Wilford) So it's his fault!

Layton: Yes!

Alex: Wait a minute! (to Melanie) So he had to die, yeah you've made that clear, but then why didn't you just come get me in the first place?

Melanie: (to Alex) I had to stay with the train-

Ben: Yes, that's true!

Alex: (pointing) Well, you had help, all I had was you, and I kept waiting for my hero to come crashing through. But if you had to save the world first, why did you send me away in the first place? Second place?

Melanie: (to Alex) Well that one's easy, I'd have kept you near for my whole life through, and sending you away was like cutting my heart in two, but I had to keep you safe--(pointing) from him!

Wilford: (choking on cigar smoke) Me?! What on earth did I do?

Audrey: (to Wilford) You killed me!

Wilford: (to Audrey) I killed you?

Audrey: (to Wilford) Yes! You said it was love then you killed me!

Melanie: See, it's his fault!

Wilford: No!

Ben: Yes it is!

Wilford: (to everyone) I think you'll find that this death didn't stick, I saved her too, like my train saved all of you so I'm really, truly in the clear here.

Layton: (to Wilford) You're a murderer!

Wilford: (to Layton) Yes, but I had to cull to keep the strong ones fed, I know it sounds harsh but it's the math we had, and it's all we could do since we'd been left behind (to Melanie) by you!

Melanie: Wait a minute! (to Wilford) We've already said why we left you here, it's because you're a monster-

Ben: (to Wilford) And a goat!

Audrey: (to Wilford) And a reaper of souls!

Alex: (to Wilford) And also you burned everything but Rebecca.

Wilford: I only burned the books because they weren't any good.

Melanie: (to Wilford) There you go again, thinking only your opinion matters.

Wilford: (to Melanie) Yeah, well you're the one who buttered me up all those years.

Melanie: (to Wilford) Because I wanted to keep my job!

Wilford: (to Melanie) Well, now it's come back to bite you hasn't it, my dear?

*all shouting and pointing at eachother*

You're responsible!

You're the one to blame!

It's your fault!
