tips on making a writing account?

of course i can give some tips!! (i’ve answered similar questions here, here, and here if you wanted to check those out as well!!)

1. i would honestly make sure you have an aesthetically please theme and layout for your fics! it will draw more people to your account and then more people will want to read your fics!!

2. this is something that even i still struggle with, but writing on here is suppose to be fun, not just for notes!! while, yes, they are very important to ensuring more people see your works, i find that us authors really get too hyper focused on it and think that just because some of our works have low notes that that means they’re horrible when that really isn’t the case. sometimes tumblr just sucks and fails to help push out your works.

3. following that, it will mainly be up to you to help your works reach a broader audience!!!!! tumblr, again, sucks. i suggest properly tagging your fics so that others can see them! and i suggested this in one of the other questions i linked above, but honestly for whichever idol you’re looking to write for, look up “<idol> x reader” and copy the tags of the most popular fic under it (for example, looking up #yeonjun x reader and copying a popular fics’ tags from there)

4. start off slow!! don’t push yourself into putting out a bunch of content and overwhelm and burn yourself out!!!! starting with drabbles or smaus are the easiest and helps you gain a following, i’d suggest starting with those! then you can work your way up to longer fics and everything!

5. interact with your followers!! even if you don’t get any responses it’s still good to show people that your active and that your account isn’t dead!!! a lot of people on here are shy and silent readers, you never know, maybe they’ll shoot you an ask about one of your works!! interacting also helps you gain mutuals and friends on here (something i’m still working on myself ><)!!!

those are the main tips that i could think of off the top of my head, but if you have any more questions i’d be happy to answer them for you!!! i hope that you do making a writing blog and you have a bunch of fun sharing your works on here!! i’d love to read what you put out!! (∩˃o˂∩)♡

After watching both TXT’s and Enhypen’s stages and looking at recent photos it’s hard not to feel inspired. I find myself thinking of red-haired skater Yeonjun. Maybe you’re a distant admirer, watching him mess around with his friends at the skatepark while you teach the child you’re babysitting how to ride a bike. Don’t think about witnessing every rough and tumble Yeonjun takes, caressing the bruises and cuts with your eyes. Don’t think about finally mustering the courage to approach him one day to cover his wounds with children’s bandaids - colorful strawberry shortcake and paw patrol images covering the hard lines of his body. Certainly don’t even imagine Yeonjun’s eyes watering when you press kisses over every injured area, it’s been years since he’s felt so much tenderness nonetheless from his pretty voyeur :3 someone get me out of the kitchen

LET YOU COOK LET YOU COOK!!!! like taking the child you babysit to the skatepark purely because of the cute red-haired boy you saw and want to admire from a distance. the kid doesn’t even want to be there, they already know how to ride a bike, but you want to be there. so you let them do whatever they please while you sit at one of the benches and watch over them (or yeonjun, really).

that’s when yeonjun takes a bad tumble right in front of you, causing you to gasp and jump to your feet. his friends surround him and for a moment you hesitate to move forward, your fingers hovering near the small bag you’re carrying with a first aid kit… you take a deep breath as you hype yourself up to just talk to him.

“oh, lemme help with that!” you say as you rush forwards and bend down to the ground where he’s examining the cuts and scraps on his elbow and knees. he looks up to you curiously as you pull out the first aid kit, grabbing something to clean up the blood with. “this is gonna sting a little,” you say as you press the tissue to his wounds.

yeonjun winces as you delicately clean off the scrapes, his friends snickering behind him. he doesn’t even hear them, too busy looking at the pretty girl who’s helping him. nobody has even been so tender and caring for him and it practically makes his heart melt.

you whip out two colorful bandaid boxes—one strawberry shortcake themed and another paw patrol themed. yeonjun hesitates, then chuckles a little before pointing to the strawberry shortcake one. you join him, pulling some of the bandaids out and covering his scraps with them. your so focused on aiding him that you don’t realize that you kissed his wounds to make them feel better like you do for the child you babysit before it’s too late.

you quickly pull back, your eyes wide with embarrassment and you nervously laugh. “s-sorry,” you mumble as you rush to put the things back into your first aid kit. “i’m use to cleaning up children…”

as if on cue, the kid your babysitting comes up to you with a pout, saying how they’re bored and want to go home. you give yeonjun another sheepish smile. “be careful next time,” you say, standing to your feet and taking the child’s hand in yours as you walk away.

yeonjun watches you as you leave, standing to his feet with his skateboard under his arm. “dude, i think she was into you,” his friend nudges him with a smirk. a smile comes to his face as he thinks about the possibility. “i think she was…” he says.

Wahhh! Skater boy Yeonjun will haunt me like a specter. In this little universe we’ve created, he’s so Heath Ledger in 10 Things I Hate About You inspired to me. Like minutes after you leave the park, Yeonjun’s friends are still harmless teasing and poking at his strawberry shortcake bandaids. He reaches a hand out to smack Beomgyu’s wandering jabs only to notice your lipgloss has left glittery kiss marks across his skin. Standing straight in the middle of the concrete path, he hovers the tip of his index finger to trace the lines of your lips, sticky pink residue rubbing onto his skin.

His friends are tackling each other in the grass and yelling curses into the open air. Yeonjun memorized, throwing himself into the hypnotist’s swirl, but didn’t move to join them. Bringing his hand up to his face, he traces the lines of his lips and wonders how they compare. Kai’s shriek breaks him from his daydreams and shaking his head, runs to launch himself into the fray.

i’m excited to watch it!! ♡♡ but omg he is!!! stop bc i love this little universe too (∩˃o˂∩) like i could imagine dragging the kid back to the skatepark just to see yeonjun and hoping that he’s there (which he is) and the two of you get to talking until eventually one of you asks each other out!! >< so cute

i just have a quick question (as someone who wants to start writing fics), what’s your process with writing? i usually struggle to actually START after coming up with the basis of an idea and it really puts off my motivation :c

especially with longer stuff with more of a plot, i really don’t know where to start. do you find it easier to set up a full storyline beforehand or do you just go with the flow?

i really enjoy your writing style and the way you word things it’s just so poetic ugh :( it motivates me a lot to start myself hehe (especially the lighthouse ☹️ ily lighthouse keeper hoonie ☹️☹️)

i’d also like to know how you started on tumblr? this space is a little bit scary and overwhelming for me, and i’m not really sure how to get stuff out there once i’ve written it TT

hi honey!!! ♡♡ this is is gonna be long and kinda rambley i’m sorry so i’ll but everything under the cut!! (>人<)

okay the first thing i recommend doing is writing everything down, whether that be in your notes app or in a google doc!!! and i mean EVERYTHING, down to the smallest scenes or dialogue you want to include to super quick ideas you want to implement — WRITE IT ALL DOWN!! if i don’t write literally everything down i will forget😭 it makes it 100x easier to have all of your ideas in one spot, especially if you struggle with adhd like i do

as for setting everything up, it’s kinda 50/50 for me! for the lighthouse i only had specific scenes i wanted to include written down (more specifically the ending and the first kiss scene) for the rest i didnt outline it or anything at all i just went the first thing that i thought about! for other fics like meet me at our spot and the salt under the sea, i had a whole dedicated outline!! sometimes the outline just makes things very overwhelming for me (especially if it’s super long) and then i start to hate it so i’ll just scrap it

but outlining definitely does help!!! the only thing is that sometimes when writing what you have outlined, i feels like you’ve already written everything which makes me at least not want to write anymore😭 as for starting, honestly start with the scene you’re most excited for, whether that be the ending or a scene in the middle of your fic! it makes things WAYYY easier and helps you get into the mind space of writing so you’re able to start from the beginning! i’ve been testing this out a little and i’ve found that it really helps!! (along with just writing a little of whatever fic you have in your head if it isn’t the one you’re currently trying to work on. it’s okay to put one fic down and pick up another!! it also helps to get you into that writing mindspace!)

all in all i would really recommend having an outline that way it’s a lot easier to know how you want your story to go rather than it all being a jumbled mess of ideas! it will make everything less overwhelming by having it all already laid out

the way i started on tumblr was actually through smaus!! the main one being all for a bet! you can start by smaus or even full fics, it really depends on what you want to do going forward! it does help starting small (like i did with smaus) because you can practice writing and how you want your writing style to be and everything, but if smaus aren’t your thing i would start with drabbles that way you put your account out there before fully plunging in!

the number one thing i tell everyone who asks it to make sure you tag your fics correctly!! the way i first learned to tag my fics was looking at all of the popular ones of the person i’m writing for (let’s say yeonjun x reader) and seeing how other authors tag their fics then copy it! tagging is very very important cause tumblr sucks pushing content out so you really have to do everything yourself :(

also if you’re looking to develop your own writing style or work on grammar or diction or whatever else the READ OTHER AUTHORS WORKS!!! i don’t mean just here on tumblr but published books as well! if you like the writing style of an author and want your writing style to be similar to theirs, then READ!! it’s literally impossible to grow your own writing if you don’t consume other’s. think of it as a forest, we’re all trees sharing the same water and sunlight and helping each other grow ♡ (that being said, don’t just straight up copy other author’s works!! that’s plagiarizing and really shitty no matter if you’re inspired or if they’re your favorite author or not. this goes for here and published works!)

it also helps to have a nice setup for your fics (again, not copying other authors!) if your set up is aesthetically pleasing, especially on here, more people are gonna wanna read it! i would suggest avoiding using any hard to read or distracting fonts, honestly just using the regular tumblr text is good enough! throw some colored text in there that matches your pictures and you’re golden!!

a little wrap up since this is so long lmao:

write down ALL of your ideas (including any scenes or dialogue you want to include)

start with whichever scene that you’re the most excited for so you get in the headspace of writing and then work around that

MAKE. SURE. YOU. TAG. YOUR. FICS. PROPERLY!!!!! tumblr sucks and won’t push out your content if you don’t!! it is up to you to promote your own works!!!

having a nice and aesthetic layout will draw in readers!! avoid using any hard to read or distracting fonts! try matching the colored text to the pictures you use to have everything be cohesive!!!
