The earlier episodes of The Double has minor flaws here and there which is fine because the pacing was good, and very satisfying. But the last few episodes was pretty politics heavy, tossing the logistics of the politics behind. My biggest fear now is that A'Li is slowly gonna be a tool to make Su guogong appear attractive...there has been a little too much damsel in distress situation happening. He just appears every time she's in a pinch to rescue her, whereas in the beginning the 宅斗 inner house fighting, it was her strategically overcoming problems. Obviously it wasn't very shippable, because he wasn't there half of the time.

Like a bunch of recent 大女主 strong female protagonist cdramas now - or as they like to label themselves as, all fall into this trap of she's strong but he's stronger, he has to be on a higher stand point, in period dramas he's either a prince, lord, duke. In modern dramas, he's either a manager, boss, ceo. In xianxia, he's the high deity, immortal god. They simply cannot write them as evenly matched for whatever self-belittlement reasons. If period dramas are constrained by feudalism, then given the realistic backgrounds, she wouldn't even be able to leave the house. On the flip side we are already operating on a fictional setting, why are we still following foot-binding values??? If she has to continuously rely on him where's the 爽 satisfying value in this...
