i will forever make it clear that kalim is not to blame for anything jamil has gone through. sure, he's served kalim but it's not kalim who is the one at fault, he never asked for any of it.

like they said, kalim was born into a life where he had everything handed to him. he was never allowed to do anything for himself because he had servants there to do it for him, he had jamil. he's never been allowed to learn or be treated differently from the life he grew up in.

kalim didn't know jamil hated him; to him, jamil was his friend. it's why he followed him to nrc, to stay with the only person he's really had a relationship with, even if it was unknowingly one-sided.

jamil's character isn't bad and i would never say what he went through his entire life wasn't a big deal. because it was, it's shitty. but i could never like him. his anger is misplaced, and he's taken it out on someone who (while still different) is in the same boat as him. he's taken his anger out on someone who doesn't deserve it.

the way he treated and still treats kalim is wrong, and the way he treats other people is equally so. his book made me hate him far before i even learned how hard of a childhood he must've had as a born servant. and even then, my attitude for him didn't change, in fact it only made me hate him more.
