Can I axe you a question?

Johan’s computer hummed to life as he took it in his hands, running one over the cracked glass that made the screen. The ink machine hissed and sputtered.

“ You cannot win! ” ink welled from the ground, from the world. Joey ignored it, patting the bee on his hand, giving it one of the wires of the computer to hold betwixt some of her small legs. The computer’s power rose even higher. “ You will not win! ”

“What are you going to do to stop me?” Johan asked calmly, raising an eyebrow. “You’re just a machine. My machine. That I never built.”

Exactly .

It seeped back into the ground, the black and white and null ground.

I killed everything, because you failed to complete your duty. Your whole world, gone, eaten by your own desperate hunger.

Johan’s fingers landed on the keys, and he sat on the ground, typing as fast as he could. The grass’ green glow slowly returned to lustrous light, the sunshine above cracking through the inky casing that held it hidden and far away. His heart beat, beat, beat, faster and faster, joyous happiness flowing through him. He could restore what was lost, he could pull everything back.

No, you cannot.

Metal shot up from the now soft and minerally earth, chains forming in the air, diving down to grab his wrists. He yelped as the scorching hot metal gripped his arms, lifting him up, and hurling him through the wall of the studio. The gravestones of Linda and Henry loomed before him, and instead of driving the spoke of despair through his weak heart, a spurt of hope burst through his veins. His computer came to his hands once more, and click, click, nana plants bloomed, their catnip tips flowing mint fresh life wafting through the air.

With the scent, roses bloomed.

Stars winked in the sky.

Darkness. The ink machine loomed above Joey, golden cogs churning. It was in it’s most perfect form, unmade by human hands, but still, volatile, reckless, and imperfect for a… human world. Something untouched simply could not be. Perfection could not exist, should not exist, the call of perfection a deadly vice and ensnaring trap that sucked each being into an endless portcullis of spiralling doom, seeking something that will never and cannot be unleashed, for if it were, the world would not stand against the flaming torch of awesome perfection, perfection itself leaching any imperfection from the perfectly imperfect earth.

Joey picked himself off of the wooden floor, limping to the wall in a retreat, his hand searching for something the haze in his mind was not sure of, something… with a wooden shaft.

His calloused fingers wrapped around the fire axe smoothly, the ridges in the wood a comforting weight in his empty hand.

That would do.

It would do nicely.

When the wood began creaking around Johan, the infected beams bursting asunder to reach for him, the axe swung, breaking each board like it was nothing, simply air.

He forced his way out of the studio, and summoned his computer and the bee holding it.

Fending off the pipes and wood with his left hand, typing as fast as he could (without making typos) with his right, he coded a function, a new function.

No.

A chain shot up once more, clanging against the axe Johan swung to fight it, but he was too slow. His wrist was caught, and dragged to the earth, his eye landing a mere inch from the blade of the axe. His breathing rushed, too fast. His wrist hurt too much from the pressure driving it into the ground. Gasping, he grabbed the axe in his right hand.

Too much, too much.

He rose the axe above his hand, ready to drive it down, anything to relieve the pain.

Wait, no no no, what was he thinking, what was he doing? These ideas were not his.

“Shut up! I don’t want to hear your whispers!” Joey yelled with a snarl, throwing the axe down, gripping his wrist and pulling, trying to tug himself free. “Shut up!”

I did not say anything, Mr. Drew.

“You did! You tried to make me cut my hand off!” Johan barked, managing to pull the chains up, too little to rise out of, but the pain slackened briefly, then spiked once more. “Shut up, you sniveling insidious orangutan!”

It’s only your own mind.

“Shut it!” Johan gasped, trying his utmost best to get his hand out of the chains. His panicked eyes landed on his thumb, and he remembered a trick Rico taught him.

Grip thumb by base.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

Breath in.

Brea

Pull.

He held in his scream as his hand burned with the pain.

His hand slipped out of the chains, and he whimpered as he replaced his thumb with an unnatural and creaking pop. He forced his breathing to stay regular. In, and out, and repeat. It’s ok, it’s fine.

You’re so very foolish.

“Get out of my head,” he wheezed, pressing his injured hand to his stomach to wait for the agony to abate. “Ungrateful g-garbage eating weasel.”

Such abusive language!

“Screw you,” Johan continued to type with his right hand, his left slowly healing. He daintily set it aside his left, and he sped up once more. The building behind him creaked and pulsed, shifting into the perfect machine’s will. “Aw, shi….”

He was pulled away from his computer, both his hands reaching for it, trying to take it with him, but he fell forward onto the cold hard ground. His hands scrambled for a hold, his ankles gripped by chains and pipes. Johan managed to grab something, his weapon, the axe, his heart thumping, blazing, beating.

He was dragged down, and he twisted onto his back to aim.

The machine churned, maw firey and open to take him.

The axe embedded itself into the ‘eye’ of the machine.

It roared.

Johan aimed the shotgun at its heart.

And he fired.

So, after yesterday’s crushing defeat, time to take on Lavaridge Gym!

Here’s the team!

Moraea and Edelweiss still have a fair bit to catch up. They’ll get there!

So this’ll basically be Aggie’s last big battle! Once I get Surf, I’ll give that to Sequoia, and Edel will be my main Flyer.

Huh, an egg. I’ll pop that in the PC for later!

“I heard that an Egg was found when two Pokemon were left at the Day Care. That’s great. I’m envious. Wish I could lay an Egg...” I’M KINKSHAMING.

Ayyy a charcoal. Nice!

ON TO THE GYM. Oh yes, I remember how this one works! First up, Kindler Cole! He leads with Numel, level 23, then Slugma, also level 23. Two OHKOs for Aggie!

Oh hey, Ninja Boy Hiromichi in the water. Ew, Koffing. Level 24, Moraea is a bit under that level, but worth a crack. Yup, down to the reds, next one handles it! Good job, Moraea!

Kindler Axle has a Slugma, level 25. Aggie OHKOs it. Man, the trainers here have such attitude!

Battle Girl Sadie has a Meditite, level 26. Aggie gets to use Wing Attack instead, haha. Oh huh, it had Fire Punch. Did fuck all against Aggie, second Wing Attack takes it out.

Ace Trainer Zane leads with Slugma, level 24, then, for a change, a level 26 Kecleon! Chickweed can take this one, takes it out with Double Kick!

Kindler Andy has a Numel, level 25. Bye!

Finally, to Flannery! Gosh she is so hecking cute. She leads with Slugma, level 26. Aggie OHKOs it. Next is Torkoal, level 28. Another OHKO! Finally, Numel, level 26. Guess the fuck what, Aggie OHKOs it XD

Well that was anticlimatic lmfao. She’s so adorable <3

Ayyy it’s Brendan! GOGGLES ACQUIRED. Oh nice, an instant travel back to Petalburg. BUT FIRST, DESERT. AND IT IS... BALTOY FUCK YEAH. Just what I wanted!! Okay time to get the heck out of dodge, then switch out Moraea for my new friend, Sage!

And back to Petalburg! You know what, Norman’s strongest is level 30, Chickweed is already level 33, let’s go fight Dad!

Alright, let’s try theeee... Accuracy Room! Ace Trainer Mary has a Delcatty, level 28. Double Kick only hits twice, aww. Next round is the charm!

Hmm, Defense or Recovery... let’s go with Recovery! Ace Trainer George has Linoone, level 28. No chance for Recovery there, OHKO ;D

Next is the OHKO room oh god. Ace Trainer Berke has a Zangoose, level 28. DON’T DIE, CHICKWEED. Never mind it was the Zangoose that got OHKOed ayyyyy.

OKAY DAD TIME TO FIGHT. Not gonna go easy on you just because you’re my father~! Leads with Slaking, level 28. Oh goddammit I forgot about Yawn XD It goes down to a couple of Double Hits, and then Chickweed... falls asleep. Vigoroth next, level 28. Use an Awakening, it uses a Retaliate that hits hard, dang. Heal up, it uses Encore, it uses another Retaliate that does much less damage, and with a few kicks, it’s down! Last up, Slaking, level 30 - I’M GOING TO CALL IMPOSSIBLE RECOVERY CLAUSE. One miraculous recovery, because I am not going to have my starter die at the hands of my father. Anything else is fair game, just not this. ...Okay, Aggie, one last stand. Time to spam Water Pulse while it spams Chip Away, I guess? Oh Hyper Potion you dick. Two can play at that game! More spamming, finally down.

Dang.

Okay. Official story explanation is that Chickweed did actually get knocked out, but survived. That can totally happen XD Slaking grew up with Atsuko, you know. Slaking is absolutely not about to murder Tiny Human’s starter.

Oh hey, it’s Wally! And now I have Surf TM yeees. Thank you for your services, Agapanthus, now is the time to retire in glory! A brief trip to Mauville, haha. Who shall I bring back in for now... Milkweed? Okay! She has Mega Drain, so even if it’s not STAB, she won’t be completely helpless against Water. Would prefer a Grass- or Electric-type for STAB, but Milkweed works for now!

Onwards to route 118! First up is Aroma Lady Rose. Starts with Gloom, level 25. Chickweed chargrills. Next is Roselia, level 25, and ditto.

Guitarist Dalton leads with Magnemite, level 16. My level 35 Fire-type takes it out. Next is Whismur, level 16. Coupla kicks this time!

SURFIIIING. ...And no encounters XD Oh well, there’s land on this side!

HEY IT’S STEVEN. Oh! Right, I know this bit :D Time for a new friend! ...Who’ll be staying in a PC box, but oh well XD God can you imagine the protag's reaction to this bit. "Oh hi Steven nice to see you good chat IS THAT A LEGENDARY FUCKING POKEMON."

lmfao the grunt calling Steven ‘that rather alluring gentleman’. Alrighty Stevieboy let’s take ‘em out! Snowdrop, I think, my strongest that’s not weak to Water. Metang OHKOs Grimer, nice stuff, good Steven. Ooh that Slash hit hard. Snowdrop no don’t get into the reds. Emergency heal-up! Again, another Slash, still fine, no crit that time. Keep trying Rock Smash, I guess - STOP HITTING YOURSELF. Bringing in Sequoia briefly to ditch the Confusion - whoops, Swagger on the Metang. And then it takes out Sharpedo! Good Metang!

“I love interesting, strong dudes! That’s why I love my bro, Archie! And that’s why I’m gonna start loving you from now on, too! Next time I see you, I’ll smash you up real good, OK?” Matt you really need to work on your flirting skills.

You know what? The name I used for Latias last time still works. Rosemary!

Mega Bracelet GET. And uh, I’m gonna race back to Mauville to box Rosie, haha. Time to get a route 118 catch! And it iiiis... ...Pelipper XD DUPES CLAUSE.

IT’S AN ENTIRE HOARD OF ELECTRIKE. Finally, got down to one. She shall be named Oleracea, the species name of the Electric Daisy <3

And Chickweed evooolves!

Okay, back to Mauville - again - and switching out Milkweed for Oleracea! She’s very very underlevelled now, oh dear XD;;

Back to the route! Bird Keeper Chester leads with Swablu! Level 26. Snowdrop’s turn! Chomp chomp. Next is Swellow, level 28. Wing Attack does some damage, then Ice Fang down to the reds. UGH Double Team. You know what fine. EDEL HAS SWIFT. YOU’RE DOWN.

Another Bird Keeper, huh? Pelipper, level 29. God I miss Daisy. Snowdrop manages after a bit. Oh, for Sage or Oleracea to be high-enough...

Delinquent Miley leads with Cacnea, level 26. I am so sorry for my ten-levels-higher Fire/Fighting type. Next is Mightyena, level 28. Mine’s better! Double Kick takes it out.

Ooh, route 123! Sure :D Aroma Lady Violet has a Vileplume, level 36. Whoa shit we’re on the same level as my strongest. I might just catch a Pokemon and go XD Chickie takes it!

Ohh, the berry farm! Let’s see. 6x Sitrus, 3x Pecha, 3x Cheri, 3x Chesto, 2x Persim (only had two!), 1x Oran, 6x Leppa. That should do it!

DAZZLING GLEAM TM. YES. No Pokemon gets, but a Fairy move for Sage~!

And IIRC route 119 is really hecking long, so I will leave it here for now!
