📖+ domestic!nate

this was one of the few times nathaniel latierre had considered putting the suit away for good. he had watched what became of the children of heroes, often neglected as their parents rushed around saving the world. it was something that he had never wanted to project onto his own family. something that he would have hated for them to feel.. it wasn’t an easy decision, it should have been. but it wasn’t easy to make haze dissipate. it stuck longer than nathaniel thought it would. he began to enjoy the thought of simply being nathaniel latierre. enjoyed that they were now even more of a family than before. he remembers the early days sitting by the crib singing quietly to the boy.

he remembers the months he went simply as himself, the pride he felt. and the pride fell away as he watched reports on the news speaking about heroes sustatining injuries, new villains rising up. it... consumed him. it should have been easy to quit... he had just started. but somehow that made it so much worse. there was no good he’d done yet, all the public saw was smoke. their fears and accusations surfaced. and it was tiring. it was exhausting putting the mask on and wearing the suit. but it was rewarding, they were shaping the future for their family. nate hoped it would be a future worth living in.
