"Welcome To The Simple Lounge" - Introduction and MasterList Post
Hi there friends! SimpleGenius here, and here's a bit about this and the other blogs.
On this blog I mostly reblog anything that catches my eye and where I post most of my tag games and posts related to my stories. This blog is also where most details on my Original Works Trilogy An Old Ballad Of Chance And Ember Hearts (including its Original Work predecessor, Wings And Horns) and Fallout series A Radioactive Calamity Of Love, Bombs & Gore can be found.
@the-untitledverse-blog is where I post fics and details related to my The UnTitledverse series. The series is comprised of four sagas; The Perfect Storm, The Omniscient Rule, The UnTitled Ventures and The Ender sagas, focusing on the development of a child by the name of Joaquin Cobalt, who grows and matures throughout the sagas, alongside friends and family against enemies and threats on a multiversal scale.
@the-silver-chronicles is where I post fics and details related to my The Silver Chronicles series. The series is smaller than that of The UnTitledverse, however it is one with several alternate scenarios and AUs, most of which for Far Cry 5. This series doesn't follow a sole character, rather being a kind of anthology, connected but can still be solo, though personally I believe Junior Deputy Silva Omar should hold that title, as she is the most significant and reoccurring character in The Silver Chronicles, especially for the FC5 stories.
@life-despair-and-monsters-blog is where I post fics and details related to my Life, Despair & Monsters series. Like The UnTitledverse, this series focuses on the multiverse. Unlike it's predecessor, Life, Despair & Monsters focuses on the alternate dimensions, the Old Kin and magical aspects surrounding the Multiverse, as well as its fundamental foundations. This series follows three groups of characters; Haoyu Anabuki's rebellious group which act as the protagonist faction, Sir Enigma Malvolio's Ruins of the Midnight Rise scientific progress-obsessed institution which acts as the main antagonist faction, with Aggravor's Chapter of the Occult which is a group of warlocks conserving and preserving all kinds of magic and plotting to return the Old Kin back to power whom act as a rival against Malvolio's faction.
@mycharacterlistandwipdump is where I dump my story related details such as list of OCs, plots and WIPs.
I can be found on AO3 here.
Below the cut are the fandoms these series will include and a number of links which can take you to several masterposts. Enjoy!
The UnTitledverse includes fandoms such as Jurassic World, Five Nights At Freddy's, Transformers Prime, The Walking Dead Game, IT (2017), Stranger Things, Gravity Falls, DOOM (2016), SCP Foundation, Detroit: Become Human, Hellaverse, Pet Sematary (2019), Red Dead Redemption, Yo-Kai Watch, Subnautica, Final Space, Life Is Strange, Star Wars, The Last Of Us, Classroom Of The Elite, Hitman, Inside Job, Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, Saw, The Hateful Eight, Resident Evil, The Masquerade, The Bone Season, Mermaids of Eriana Kwai, The Priory Of The Orange Tree, The Locked Tomb and Fear And Hunger.
The Silver Chronicles includes fandoms such as Far Cry, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, We Happy Few, Welcome To The Game, Six Of Crows, The Bone Season, Mermaids of Eriana Kwai, The Priory Of The Orange Tree, The Locked Tomb, Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure, and Bloodborne.
Life, Despair & Monsters includes fandoms such as Love Death + Robots, Doki Doki Literature Club, Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Chat Noir, Arcane: League of Legends, Cyberpunk 2077, Guenevere, I Am Not Okay With This, House Of The Dragon, Wednesday, Poppy Playtime, The Invitation, Choo Choo Charles, God Of War, The Legend of Vox Machina and Castlevania.
A Radioactive Calamity Of Love, Bombs & Gore solely set in Fallout.
However, there are a few fandoms that I may do some unconnected (from my main fics anyway) fanfics on plus some other original works.
Lastly are the links to any MasterPosts and information I have [THIS WILL BE UPDATED (PROBABLY)]:
Masterpost of Fallout OC Protagonists
Masterpost of casted Fallout characters in my The Schmuck Squad's JJK Abridged react fic

Ballad of the Sea Witch
It was by pure chance, Ellie knew that now. Fate was never in play, she just happened to be at the right place at the right time.
Of course, back then. She had no way of knowing this. She had no idea what the undine’s offer really meant.
She was promised adventure, glory and stories to tell.
She was what? Fourteen. Young, not at all wise enough to see this for the trick it was in truth. She was a fool.
A fool that took the undine’s hand and followed it to a land right out of the fairytales she grew up reading and wishing she could live.
Truly it was like a fairytale. She was a chosen hero meant to protect the world from monsters. Like all the other people of the order she was welcomed too with open arms and hearts.
She reveled in the power over the seas and streams and springs of this fairy world. She would spend hours practicing, honing her skills.
She wondered if when she went home, she would get to keep this magic.
She used to dream about showing off her power to her family and friends. And that cute girl next door.
“We don’t get to go home.” one of the older chosen ones told her. The sorrow behind his eyes, the sorrow etched in his face. “Nobody has ever left this place. Once they steal you away, they never give you back.”
She remembers how he held her when she wept. Screaming how that couldn’t be right, how that couldn’t be true.
She doesn’t remember a whole lot after that. Her days started to blur together. Only the overwhelming hurt being clear. It was then she gained her reputation, as the strongest chosen one of Weeping Heart.
The name of the order is accurate. She noticed early that the experienced ones were always sad.
She sees why now.
She wonders if the name is intentional on Their part. Although the answer hardly matters.
She remembers the moment she fell. The way she let herself sink into the sea once she couldn’t feel anything anymore. When all her tears ran dry.
Her time as a true monster is even more of a blur. She didn’t need to think, really. Salmon monsters don’t need to think.
She remembers back home, she watched a documentary on salmon. Their drive to return to where they were born, how they would turn into monstrous things, and when they finally came to the end of their journey they would die.
It’s funny how that’s what she became.
It’s sad the thought that even if she found a way home. She may very well die.
It took a long time. Too come to her senses again. To remember who she was before. What all she lost.
But it was worth it. She hopes.
She remembers washing on shore. Gasping for air. She wasn’t a fish monster anymore. But she certainly wasn’t human again either.
She thought about some of those old fairy tales. The mermaid who gave up her voice for legs to chase the chance of getting an eternal soul. Or the princess cursed to be a swan by day, but by night and by lake water, turned human again.
They were her favorite stories growing up.
They were both tragedies.
How funny is it? That she’s living those old fairy tales. All their pain included.
She didn’t have it in her to be bitter. Those old stories were one of the few things she had tying her back home. And she wasn’t about to lose anything else.
She remembers the chosen ones sent after her.
She remembers her first kill. And her second, and her third, fourth, fifth.
She started losing track after chosen one number twelve.
She pitted every last one of them. They were fools like her, weren’t they? They hadn’t a clue what being a ‘chosen one’ really meant for them. That they could end up like her too, couldn’t they?
But just because she pitted them, doesn’t mean she would let herself die.
They started to call her “The Sea Witch”.
She laughed when she heard the Wild Hunt chosen call her that.
She almost cried when she killed him.
But she has no more tears to shed.
Monsters don’t cry.

15, 16, and 31 for Gerda & 4, 7, and 12 for Kay, please?
Thank you so much for the ask!!!!
Gerda:
15. What superhero are they most like?
Hmm, this is kinda hard...you know, I think I'm going to go with Captain America for her--she has that strong moral compass, unwavering determination, and unwillingness to give up on people she cares about (and if "I'm with you till the end of the line" isn't her mantra, I don't know what is).
16. What are they NOT afraid of?
Boredom and mediocrity. She doesn't have the unsatiable hunger for adventure that Kay has--she's perfectly happy sitting at home with her sewing and a cup of tea, thank you. She likes the idea of exploration and foreign, fantastical lands, but would much rather read about them in novels.
31. If they were a tea, what tea would they be?
Either hibiscus or just classic English Breakfast.
Kay:
4. What musical theatre ballad fits them?
"Corner of the Sky" from Pippin. Or maybe "Monster" from Frozen. (Yes yes I do hate Frozen, but that song, which they wrote for the Broadway musical, is actually really good).
7. What fictional character do you think most influenced them, or is most like them (intentionally or not)?
Oooh that's a good one! Well, of course he's based on the Kay from the original tale, but I think I might also compare him to Riku from Kingdom Hearts, or Laurie from Little Women. (It took me longer than it should have to realize just how Kingdom Hearts inspired this retelling is, lol.) Also, weirdly I realized today that he's got similarities to Ariel in the Little Mermaid, which of course, was also penned by Andersen--a weird coincidence, lol.
12. What do they most dislike about themselves?
In general, probably either his inability to say what he actually means when it's important, or his tendency to get so wrapped up in his own head that he is unintentionally inattentive or selfish.

Hey, I heard that your a Dark Parables fan from someone I follow, and I has to ask. It's alright if ya don't want to, but I was wondering if you have any salt/ Hot takes for the series of Dark Parables just for fun.
Like how a plot could have been better, or how character detail could have been written to make sense for examples.
Thank you for reading, and glad to see ya back.
Hi! I have so many you don't even know my friend, I'm like legit in the middle of a re-playthrough of the whole series XD
I do gotta say one game that doesn't really feel like it "fits", feels off story wise and gameplay wise in the series to me and kinda throws off the flow of the games is Dark Parables: The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide.
[SPOILERS AHEAD FOR DARK PARABLES: THE LITTLE MERMAID AND THE PURPLE TIDE]
I know it's weird to include gameplay mechanics in the salt list but (it sounds ridiculous I know) I have a degree in 3D Arts & Game Design so when I play games I tend to focus on game play as much as the story and graphics.
First off, I genuinely am always thrown off because for a game called The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide....the Purple Tide had a minimal role. Like it was a thing but only in the first like 5 minutes of the game. At least with Ballad of Rapunzel, the flowers were a constant issue as well as the plant monsters. They made sense. Then we have the princess who annoyed me more than anything. Her reasons for being stand-offish or down right rude and somewhat a mini boss to get by were kind of....dumb. like usually the mini boss has a reason for what they did and why they fight the Detective until ultimately lending help, and the reason is usually sound (in the game Universe logic anyways) or good.
Of course you could argue that her reasons are the same as other game characters. Which,, yeah, but it felt weak in comparison. She wanted to find the last Elemental Orb to save her father, her father who was completely off his rocker. But she also thirsts to become human so like, she's doing it for selfish reasons and only after she basically gutted Pinocchio was she wanting you to save her and then willing to help you. If I could have left her to the piranhas or whatever they were....I would have.
That brings me to my issue with the godforsaken Elemental Orbs! They are supposed to be the King's only salvation after being cursed! Yeah? Yeah. Except they are also the treasures that broke the the curse on his daughters! Now you may be thinking this isn't really an issue or something to be mad about but for me it just infuriates me that the daughters broke their curses and yet the orbs were still powerful enough to cure their father....their father who they left so they could pursue their own lives. Like legit. They leave him even though they wanted to help cure him and his sanity but no. After they gained their legs they skeddadeled! Their stories were interesting! I give it that but the fact they left their cursed father and sisters to their fate never sat right with me.
Also it's never mentioned how the King got the orbs after the daughters broke their curses because it never says they went into the sea to take them back. So how does he have them???? If they used them I think they should be null and void and he should have just thought in all his delusion that one orb would be enough for him to experiment with. We're supposed to believe that this family is worth saving and I gotta say...I did not feel like helping at all during that whole game. I did it very reluctantly.
Then the mechanics are added in and yeah...least favorite game right here. It's honestly one that is very forgettable until someone asks me if there's a game I dislike from the series and then BAM! It comes rearing it's ugly head back in my face. The mechanic overall were very stiff, the accessing of your inventory to the change of locations all felt stiff and clunky as opposed to the others games in the series.
Also they didn't have to so Pinocchio like that. They really didn't.
Another point against the game was the fact we never got a scene hinting at the next game which was always part of the whole Dark Parables experience and to not have it really made the game not feel like part of the series. Maybe it's silly, but it was as much a part of the series as the collective parables themselves. Just having the statue in the Temple wasn't enough nor satisfying.
In the end all I have to say is I get why the Sea Goddess cursed everyone. I would have too. Both kingdoms were fickle people and honestly their whole backstop wasn't that intriguing. Like I'd get the tidbits of info and just be like meh.
I could rant about this game a lot but in doing so I just get more petty, especially stupid small things so I will leave this here.
In the end, all I can say is they could have made a better plot, one that was more engaging and made me care. Because I adore The Little Mermaid, in any font, but this font was my comic sans.

For the fantasy ask game: air, sloth, and pride?
Hello hello! Thank you for the ask!
。 ₊°༺❤︎༻°₊ 。
AIR - What is the most unique setting in your fantasy world?
ToV / LotF Series:
I'll have to say rather the Arcane World or the Dream World. The Arcane World is this alternate plane that essentially exists in a vacuum where all the magic that occurs there has no consequence and is purely divine energy. It's the plane of the gods, essentially, and a world entirely shrouded in mystery. Time works differently in the Arcane World. Your body can't enter, but your mind can, and when your mind enters, it will create an illusionary body for you to use to interact with the world. The Arcane World is also rumoured to be the place where the gods of their mythology were imprisoned eons ago, though those are rumours no one can confirm. It is the theorized reason as to why the Arcane World is so powerful, and also locked from everyone except for the Arcane Family. If you die in the Arcane World, your body calcifies, but never truly dies, so you are essentially stuck there, imprisoned in a vegetative state of illusion forever. Typically, it results in a groundhog day of psychosis. Meanwhile, the Dream World is the bridge between the Arcane World and Elazya, where fantasy and reality blurs. Everyone has their own domain in the Dream World, and if you become well acquainted enough, you can also form a domain in the Arcane World. But mastery over lucidness in the Dream World is how you learn to enter the Arcane World. The myth behind the Dream World is that every night, when people go to sleep, they go on adventures to the Dream World and return with their only memories of what occured being the dreams they can recall. The rest is lost to the magic of the Arcane.
The Inkarnyus Series:
The underwater mermaid kingdoms or the colonies! Probably the colonies. I mean, they are literally floating "islands" that actually end up opening up into a multidimensional world where time bends and screws up your age if you are not a native to the land. The colonies as a concept... oof I love the Inkarnyus series and world building so much. I know I'm not getting super detailed with my Inkarnyus series responses, but I don't want to reveal too much about this story yet. Especially since I don't plan on officially writing it until ToV is over.
SLOTH - What existing fantasy world is the closest to your fantasy world?
ToV / LotF Series:
Yikes, I have no idea. Maybe, probably, most likely... Game of Thrones? For the dragons component, except dragons aren't really rare the way they are in GoT, neither are majority of the population humans. Honestly... Can I respond with the Iliad (mythology + divine intervention) + GoT (dragons + politics) + Avatar the Last Airbender (ATLA for its elemental magic) + the Kane Chronicles (again, mythology and all that jazz + magic)? Because that's what it's looking like right now.
Inkarnyus Series:
This one is a bit harder, a bit easier. I'm thinking a mix of the Vampire Diaries (books) + Monster High (YEAH I KNOW. GOOFY) + The Lord of the Rings + Scary Godmother (the Halloween movies, which sounds odd but trust me bro-- the lore fits) + the otome isekai genre in general. Once again... the Inkarnyus series (TIS is how I'm referring to it for now) is a whole pandora's box that needs its own dedicated post, possibly a podcast episode, to delve into and explore. For now, we'll settle on that.
PRIDE - What part of the world are you the most proud of?
ToV / LotF:
Easy. The lore and mythology. I cannot tell you enough how much I enjoy the mythological components of this story and how it builds on the values and history of Soilailan culture to such an unfathomable degree. The impact the mythologies have on the development of their society + the plot??? Gorgeous. Show stopping. And it's so interesting??? Like, not to toot my own horn, but the introduction and concluding ballads for the Eulogy of Kaana live in my mind RENT FREE:
"Kaana of the Underground / Kaana with her smile / With pearly whites and barley hair / The whole world she beguiled. // Kaana of the darkest shadows / Kaana of albino skin / Red eyes, pale hair, and white complexion / the sole of Wys' kin // Uncle E'ra, the austere guardian / who built her palatial walls / Raised mountains and labyrinths of lustreless metal / and told her to call it home // From Wys she inherited her sinister beam / that sparkled like diamonds in the sun / Ice and frost would burn in envy / at the brightness Kaana donned // Daughter of Wys dazzled like gold / If gold was frosted and brighter / She radiated winter in all her cold / but gleamed all darkness lighter // They called her Kaana of the pearly whites / for her smile had a charm / And her chambers had a river of stones / white opal, white pearl, black warmth. // Kaana of the Underground / Liked darkness more than the light. / She called Hez her companion more than Elen / And worshipped all his might. // Though Elen was not a spiteful goddess / Her son held no such grace / Where his mother was elegant and forgiving / He took offense in her place. // So Kaana of the Underground / Kaana, born in shadows / When Yozar decided to pay her a visit / She sent him to the gallows."
AND THEN THE CONCLUSION BALLAD: "Kaana of the Hellfire Nyar, // Kaana, Queen of shrieks. // Hail her empire built on souls // of corpses born to weep." And that's not even mentioning the Tribute of Yozar and THAT poem: "These violent delights enchant thy bright eyes / Mine soul, these corpses, Thy spirit alike / And though grim covet Thy endless skies / Blood rain shall mark Thy victory tonight." ANYWAYS. it's 100% the mythology, without a doubt.
TIS:
The history. Especially the mystery behind the history. The gradual unfolding of Inkarnyus' history and who the true victors of the Inkarnyus wars were is SUCH A GOOD BUILD UP bye- i love it. Not only is it such interesting lore to delve into the world war that created the nations and the political atmosphere the modern-day Inkarnyus navigates, but it also determines the future, because everyone's #1 goal in that book is the prevent the Inkarnyus wars from happening again, and yet the more you learn about the history, the more you realize they are following the same path as the past, inevitably leading them down the same fate. LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Thanks again for the ask!

INCOMPARABLE CALA MARIA
I present to you an updated version of one of the first characters whose design I have drawn since 2018 year(approximately).
Many are cabin boys, consider Сala Maria to be an extremely rare siren queen or local sea goddess. The more experienced sailor don’t believe in this delusion. They know very well that this «mermaid» has a serpent tail and a mania of releasing black smoke, which long ago closed part of the sky of the third island from the sun, thus plunging into eternal night. Cala does not charm anyone with her voice or drag them to the bottom for entertainment, as they do all sirens, but she isn’t a friendly neighbor to whom it is pleasant to watch while swimming.
This huge sea monster, partly human-like, is a symbiosis between a mermaid and a giant squid that was called the Kraken centuries ago. Only the luckiest sailor in the world could be left alive if the Kraken wakes up and opens his full of sharp fangs to cast a torrent of fire over the water.
Cala Maria doesn’t hit or approach the passing ships without reason. The ones that were caught in the fog and accidentally ran aground on her tail, she just pushes back into the water and tries to get out of the way. Cala often rescued doomed ships from the storm or sent her pets (massive fish, eels, etc.) to show the way through dangerous areas. At the request of Cuphead, she drowns or escorts ships with special guests of his establishment. But very often such ships from the continent, where the captain or crew never met with Cala Maria reacted to her quite aggressively. Tried to drive them away with gunshots or scare them off by other means. Most of these situations ended with a tour of the seabed sponsored by a frightened Cala or an angry Kraken. To avoid a repetition of such incidents, Cuphead suggested that Cala put a special cup-shaped tattoo on her shoulder that would partially cover the scar from the burn. Such a sign served as a landmark that sailors did not attempt to kill a suddenly appeared monster, but simply wanted to be escorted to the right place.
Cala often received small gifts for this work, as well as presents from sailors and fishermen whose lives she saved. Some persons in love with her dedicated songs to the beautiful mermaid. Some of these love ballads spread among sailors and pirates.
Cala Maria is tearful and nervous when meeting strangers, despite its size and extremely destructive abilities. This often causes a sleeping Kraken to wake up. The squid can take full control of the body with Сala’s permission, or if she is scared, exhausted or depressed. The indicator of this condition is the eyes, which are fully colored in yellow, and the blue pupil is replaced by vertical, thin stripes.

Part two (ig) of the Dr:S inspired fantasy AU !
For Nagito, I decided to play pretty heavily into the little mermaid aesthetic since his canon story has decent parallels ( hopeless romantic, tragic back story undertones, unlucky, self destructive levels of devotion) and also because whenever I draw him please imagine his Japanese VA instead of his English VA.
(When it comes to memes , Bryce is pretty good and I don’t hate his voice, but I think Megumi does a much better job of encapsulating ALL of Nagito’s character better( her softer tone definitely helps imo) not just the more comedic bits.)
As for his outfit’s individual details, I leaned into servant’s pretty liberally as well lol. My initial thought for this was some sort of twist on a holy prophet. Like he could be an envoy of the god of the sea or something, or even a water nymph himself.
Like with the Kokichi piece, part of the fun is not knowing entirely what his deal is lol. My Nagito in Danganronpa S had “Ice freeze all” so I gave him hand wraps since like Rantaro he’d probably get cold a bit too easily (and also because in canon he’s pretty sickly) .
The pseudo shawl around his shoulders and his waists have stripes on them, a nod to both old style striped sailor uniforms and Servant’s striped shirt. He also has the skill “debuff” so I decided to lean into the more “gentle death “ type Nagito ( the one seen more clearly in his character songs lol) who is kind of not even trying to be an antagonist but he’s long accepted that it’s just how things are. He also has “sleep”in my game and I like to imagine that translates into songs like lullabies or ballads lulling people into sleep. His shawls and over skirt are white and airy but tattered, to complete the whole eerily beautiful look, like the transience of life that is again referenced in one of his character songs.
For Izuru, I wanted his body and outfit to clash in a sort of way. I wanted to make it look like his head didn’t fit his body or uniform because he was technically “possessing” it. Obviously he and Hajime share one for this specific concept I had, although that was only this design and since it’s a fantasy au, I’ve grown more fond of the idea of them having seperate bodies so I might redo his design!
Though it’s not colored, I imagined him with the typical red eyes and black hair Izuru has. I also really like the “Izuru has emotions he just doesn’t know how to express them” headcanon ( and this is an au so I do what I want uwu) and the Izuru I like to draw is typically the silent affection type. He’s still got the look of someone who is born of apathy but he’ll do things like lean in for a hug or skin ship or be an absolute cuddle monster, all while not changing his expression. Out of all of his design choices , his hair was the hardest. I tried to make it as similar to his canon hair that I could but looking at the references, his hair is kinda a little dumb so I reworked it just a little bit, giving it a more proper whorl and making it a bit thinner to fit the wispy shadow motif he has going on .
The two of them are obviously close in the AU, and much like canon I like to imagine that Izuru is a godlike figure for Nagito, with Izuru being not really all that excited about that lol. I also like the common headcanon that Izuru isn’t entirely ‘bored’ of Nagito and might even be one of the less boring people in his life due to his luck cycle, so that’s in play here. This Izuru is kinda uncomfortable with how much Nagito puts himself down but lacking the full range of expressions he can’t convey it as clearly or bluntly as Nagito would need to see to get it. Part of their character arc is dealing with that and working towards common ground, kind of like a fusion of an old married couple and newly weds lol.
That’s pretty much it for now for this au in terms of characters I’ve drawn ^^
Thank you for reading if you got this far and have a good day!

A little sacrifice
Let’s go to the coast Geralt.
Let’s run away for a little while.
Lets go to the coast where we met Essi Daven, my little sister, Poppet all those years ago.
Where i collected sea shells while you searched for a monster so I could give her a pearl for her birthday- since neither of us had the money to buy her anything.
Where I fell into the water and you dived in after me and they attacked us and I screamed at you to grab my hand. And I pulled you from it after you’d scream at me to run. To leave you to die while I escaped. As I’d told you back in Dol Blathana that I never would.
Let’s go to the coast Geralt. To the coast, where you fell in love with my little sister and for a few moments you forgot about Yennefer and how she’d hurt you. How she always hurts you. Where you fell in love and for a few blissful moments were free. Were happy.
It’s hard to remember the last time you were happy.
Let’s go to the coast where I dropped that beautiful blue seashell on Poppet’s lap- but it stank to high heaven so I said it was from you- and you two found a little pearl inside. She made a necklace out of it. She never took it off.
I buried her with that pearl you know? In forest outside Vizima after the outbreak of smallpox killed her. I carried her from the city in my arms as they cremated bodies around us.
She loved that pearl. Loved you. Asked to be buried with it along with her lute.
I didn’t tell her how I wanted to be buried. Haven’t told you that either. There’s no point. I know i’ll bury you as I buried her. As I’ve buried everyone i love.
I didn’t tell you that story. I’m not going to. I assume- if you remember Poppet at all- you think it luck or fate that keeps you apart. The continent is big after all.
I let you think that Geralt. Because you don’t need any more loss in your life.
Let’s go to the coast where I yelled at you both to stop making doe eyes and being ridiculous and Talk like the adults you were. And then, once you were done talking, to go and bone also like the adults you were. And you did.
And I watched you two fall asleep in each others arms and I wrote a song that night about a Witcher and a Bard who fell in love on the coast. About how beautiful and powerful it was and how nothing. Nothing. Not even death was able to destroy their love and part them.
I could have sang that song. In the years before her death. It would have moved the audience. No one would have believed it was true- but that isn’t the point of ballads. Ballads are meant to move- not be believed.
But I didn’t. Not to anyone. Even if you had met again I wouldn’t have played it.
Because I realized it wasn’t really about you and Essi. And then she was dead and I really couldn’t play it. But I sing it to myself sometimes. So I can pretend that Poppet got her happy ever after. That you got you got your happy ever after.
Let’s go to the coast Geralt. You found happiness there once.
It will remind me of Essi. Of my little sister that I buried outside Vizima all alone.
But what is love if not making little sacrifices?
I love you Geralt. I make a little sacrifice every time I don’t tell you that. Because I know you don’t love me that way. That knowing it would be a burden to you. I make a little sacrifice of my heart every time you go back to Yennefer despite how she has hurt you.
Stay with me. Choose me.
Hell Choose Poppet. I wish you could choose Poppet. Little Eye with her shinning cornflower blue eyes and wonderful voice and sharp tongue and sharper mind.
I miss Poppet. I miss my little sister. I hate that you have never asked after her and i’ve never the chance to tell you she died. To cry with my best friend over her. With someone who loved her at least a fraction of as much as I did.
But what is love if not making little sacrifices right? Like the mermaid we met there who gave her legs to be with the man she loved.
In my version she gives up her voice in exchange to be with him. A voice that would have shouted “I love you!” until she turned to foam because he didn’t know she loved him back. Whether or not he actually did.
Don’t think about that too much Geralt. I know you’ve no interest in metaphor or symbolism. That stories are only as good as their rhymes or the truth they tell.
I say Grab my hand or You’ll have to kill me to because I will not leave him or Let’s go to the coast. I write ballads that I never perform for anyone. I try to sow you up with fishing line until Essi yells at us and does it right and I peel the carrots and potatoes for dinner.
And even when we share a bed I sleep alone.
But what is love if not a little sacrifice?
Let’s go to the coast. Get away for a while. Figure out what pleases you.
Essi pleased you once. Maybe I could too.
Or. Or you could go to Yennefer again.
I suppose that’s fine too.

“From these sources [the mythological cycles of Wales and Ireland, the Traditional Ballads, the Witch Trial confessions, the oral traditions collected by folklorists, and comparative folkloric studies of the Celtic Faerie Faiths with corresponding beliefs/practices in other cultures,] we can collect the classes and characteristics [of faeries] which would have been available to the Elizabethan and Jacobean poets, and examine which they have chosen to use and which leave unnoticed.
The first class is that of the Trooping Fairies, who vary from the heroic fairies of Celtic and Romance tradition down to the small creatures who stole the Hampshire farner's corn. Different as these are in many ways, they vary by such insen- sible gradations that it is hardly possible to divide them into two types. The heroic fairies are of human or more than human height. They are the aristocrats among fairy people, and pass their time in aristocratic pursuits, hunting, hawking, riding in procession on white horses hung with silver bells, and feasting in their palaces, which are either beneath the hollow hills? or under or across water. It is a generally accepted belief that the Irish fairies are dethroned gods, euhemerized into an extinct race and superaturalized again into fairies;' and it is quite possible that the others of that type are the same, though Lewis Spence in his British Fairy Origins points out their close connection with the dead. They are masters of glamour and shape-shifting; they are amorous, open-handed, reward kindness and are resentful of injuries. Time spent with them passes at a different rate than when spent with mortals; seven days in fairyland is generally equivalent to seven years of mortal time, but occasionally it is the other way round. As a rule, though not invariably, they are dangerous to human beings, their food is taboo and people who fall into their power are carried away and often crumble into dust on their long-delayed return. There is sometimes a hint that the fairy beauty is a delusion, like that of the Elf Queen in the 'Ballad of True Thomas', who turned gaunt and haggard when he kissed her.
The ordinary fairy people of Britain dwindle down from these heroic fairies; some are life-sized, some on the small side of people, some are the size of a three-years' child, like Oberon in Huol of Bordeaux, some, like the Wee, Wee, Man of the ballad, are three spans in height, some, like the Muryans of Cornwall and the smallest of the Danish trolls, are the size of ants, and these seem to be particularly flower fairies; but their general characteristics remain much the same as those of the heroic fairies. They still ride, though sometimes their horses are dark grey, stunted and shaggy." They dance, and love music and musicians. They seem to be more donmestic, more of agricultural spirits, than the Celtic fairies. They are greatly concerned with-ortler and cleanliness, and can bring success or failure to the farms they visit. They give presents, which must not be revealed. Like the other fairies 'they are masters of glamour; sometimes the gold they give turns to withered leaves; sometimes worthless-looking rubbish turns, if kept, into gold or precious stones. Their most mischievous activity is the stealing of babies and nursing mothers, who, unless they are protected at the dangerous time of child-birth, are liable to be carried off and replaced by a changeling, an elf or a transformed stock. Their size seems naturally small, but they are capable of assuming any shape or size they please, or of going invisible, though a magic ointment, or¨ even a four-leafed clover, will penetrate this disguise. They can transport themselves through the air, and levitate others. Sometimes they ride grass-stalks, sometimes a magic wand is enough; often they ride in a whirl of dust. They vary in power and malice. Some, like Skillywidden, Coleman Grayo and the borrowing fairies of Worcestershire, are as powerless as Tom Thumb; some are benevolent and virtuous like Elidor's fairies; some have a longing for the privileges of Christianity, like the Scottish fairy in the story of the Bible-reader; some are blood-suckers, tempters and kidnappers.
The second type of fairy existing in Britain is the hobgoblin and Robin Goodfellow in all his forms, lidentified by the Jacobeans, and also by some later writers, with the classical 'lares'. These hobgoblins are rough, hairy spirits, which do domestic chores, work about farms, guard treasure, keep an eye on the servants, and generally act as guardian spirits of the home. Useful as they are, they are easily offended and often mischievous. They are not exclusively domestic, but are often associated with streanms, pools and rocks, like that other tutelary spirit, the banshee. On the whole they were regarded as honest and friendly spirits, though the weight of church authority was against them, as against the other fairies. Some of them were thought to be ghosts, others devils, and the words hobgoblin, bug or boggart gradually assumed a more dangerous sound.
The third type is of mermaids, water spirits and nature fairies, a small class in Britain since the Trooping Fairies had assimilated many of them. The mermaids remain the most distinct of these. As a rule they are dangerous people, though the Highland roane' are an exception, and the little mermaid rescued by the old fisherman of Cury, as well as the mermaid in the Scottish story who took such a benevolent interest in the diet and health of maidens. The river spirits were occasionally friendly, like Sabrina, but generally evil, like Jenny Greenteeth and Peg Powler.
The fourth group, which is closely allied with the nature spirits, is of giants, monsters and hags — Gogmagog, the kelpie and the blue hag of winter. They might hardly be thought of as fairies if the Brash, the Brag and the Grant did not link them with the hobgoblins. These are the main types of the British fairies land their traits would fill a book; but only a few of them were fully used by the Jacobean writers. The change of temper from the medieval times is shown by the traits they chose to write about, and their treatment of the folk-lore material at their disposal.”

The deepest soul
A Geralt of Rivia X Reader for the dearest @redrosewritingsstuff
Hope you’ll love the story.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a empty road, two men were horse-riding to a small town.
The strongest one was known as Geralt de Riv, the notorious Witcher, while his companion was the famous bard Jaskier Dandelion, whose spellbinding voice enchanted many royal courts.
"So, if my memory serves me well, we're heading to the port town of Socalyn, because they need your services?" asked Jaskier.
"Right" answered Geralt.
"But do you know specifically why they need you?"
"No, but as long as I'm paid, I don't care."
"All right, but imagine they weren't paying you. What would you do?"
"I'll deal with it."
The bard let out a long sigh.
"Knowing yourself, you are probably going to do a massacre ... But hey, why think the worst? In the meantime, I would like to know why we asked for your services."
"Without a doubt, the problem is huge!"
"I hope we don't run into a dragon or whatever other jinns that's going to get us into trouble!"
Geralt smirked.
"I thought you had an adventurous spirit!"
"Adventurer, sure, but not crazy!" Dandelion replied, annoyed.
After an hour's drive, they arrived at the gates of the city.
The Witcher felt the people's gaze on him as if he was one of the monsters he fought every day. Even if he grew used to this situation, he still hated it.
Dandelion felt his comrade's nervousness rise and gently patted him on the shoulder:
"Everything is fine, don't worry."
"Hope you're right. Now let's try to find a place to sleep."
"Say no more, and hold my beer," answered Dandelion, dismounting from his horse and starting to play his lute.
"I warn you, Jaskier Dandelion, if you dare to sing this ridiculous song ..." growled Geralt.
But the bard, pretending to hear nothing, started to sing his famous ballad, Toss A Coin To Your Witcher.
And as if by magic, the talent of the bard made its effect on the crowd who applauded him wildly and offered him several silver coins.
After thanking his generous audience, Dandelion turned to the witcher, with a broad smile:
"See, Geralt, we won't have to worry about finding us a room for tonight."
"If you say so ..." the latter muttered, rolling his eyes.
However, while he would never admit it out loud, he had to recognize that without Dandelion's help, things would be more complicated.
Suddenly, a richly dressed man came to meet them, escorted by several armed men.
"Oh, we have company." the bard panicked.
"I see this ... Stay behind me." scolded the warrior who brandished his sword as Dandelion rushed to hide behind the witcher's towering mass.
The man approached them and said:
"I am Arkon Gerenyon, Lord Mayor of this city. You must be the famous witcher Geralt of Rivia, and his companion, the illustrious bard Jaskier Dandelion."
"Mmmh ... yes?" the bard replied, worried.
"What do you want ?" Geralt asked aggressively.
The Lord answered them with a broad smile:
"In that case, gentlemen, I welcome you to my humble city. I didn't think you would arrive so soon, but the main thing is that you are there."
"I take it you were the one who wanted my services?" the witcher asked, intrigued.
"Exactly, Sir de Riv. But we'll talk about this in due course. Follow me, please."
The two men looked at each other curiously: what did all this mean?
Curious to know the reason for their coming, they followed Sir Gerenyon to his home ...
Once they arrived at Gerenyon's mansion, they were received with great honor and were entitled to their room. And as the Lord of Socalyn did not do things by halves, he invited them to his table, to the delight of Dandelion, who was very hungry.
During the meal, Gerenyon explained to Geralt the reason for his coming:
"Witcher, if I brought you and your traveling companion over, it's because I thought you could help us."
"In what ?" Dandelion asked, devouring a chicken thigh.
"Well, for some time now, we have been sorely lacking in fish. However, for a port city like ours, no longer having fish in the nets of our fishermen is causing us several problems. Moreover, some of our ships sank without any explanation."
"And what am I doing in this story?"
"I'm coming here. After an investigation by my advisor, we discovered that a mermaid had taken up residence near our shores. We are sure that this creature is responsible for our problems."
"A MERMAID? Incredible!" yelped the bard.
"And... you expect me to get rid of her?" inquired Geralt.
"Absolutely. You'll be generously rewarded if you kill this evil being. You had my word!"
Geralt and Jaskier looked at each other, puzzled: neither of them expected to cross paths with one of the most fascinating yet deadly creatures which ever existed.
But the challenge was exciting, so they accepted it.
A few days later.
Night fells on the town of Socalyn, and all its inhabitants were sleeping. Everyone but Geralt and Dandelion, who were sitting on the seabank while they waited for the mermaid to show up.
For three days, they had set traps to try to capture the creature, but the latter had outsmarted them all.
They realized that they had no choice and that they were going to have to catch it on their own. The bard and the witcher waited for a sign of her presence for three hours, in the dark and the cold, as Dandelion's chattering teeth prove.
"B-but how do you t-to endure such a blizzard?"
"The habit."
"Thank you, I noticed that."
"You should have taken a thicker coat."
The bard didn't answer but admitted that the witcher was right. Trying to distract himself, he took out his lute and began to play a tune.
"Put this away immediately!" growled Geralt.
"But why ?"
"Don't be kidding! If we want to get our hands on this mermaid, we have to be discreet!"
"But I'm bored!"
"Do as I say!"
Letting out a long sigh, Dandelion put down his lute and began to grumble:
"How do you want me to forget I'm cold if you keep me from expressing my creativity?"
"Don't express anything and just focus!"
"Old grumpy indestructible!" hissed the bard, who crossed his arms and waited for more.
The two men were silent for a long time until they heard a whisper in the night.
"What was that? Have you heard it?"
"Yes."
And, to their astonishment, a beautiful voice chanted through the darkness:
Toss a coin to your Witcher!
O' Valley of Plenty
O' Valley of Plenty, oh
Toss a coin to your Witcher!
A friend of humanity.
"Well, sounds like she appreciates my work... unlike you!"
"Quiet! She is not far from us!" snarled Geralt drawing his broad sword from its scabbard.
Panicking, Dandelion tried to pull away from the water's edge, but instead, he slipped and fell backward into the water.
"JASKIER!" yelled the witcher, rushing to help the bard.
Fortunately, the latter rose to the surface, gasping for air.
"Damn, I thought I was going to drown!"
Suddenly, he felt a presence next to him. He turned and was amazed at the beautiful face of a young woman who was looking at him curiously. Her long hair that cascaded over her shoulders, her mesmerizing eyes, her fair skin that glistened in the moonlight, and her ruby lips made her the most beautiful person he had ever met.
For his part, Geralt was relieved to see the bard safe and sound, but he was intrigued by his companion's mysterious savior. There was something enigmatic, seductive, but also innocent in her features. Nothing alarming at first glance, but you shouldn't let your guard down.
Coming to his senses, the bard smiled at the young woman:
"Thank you very much for your help, dear young lady. Without your help, I would probably be at the bottom of the water. Can I ask you your name?"
"(F / N)," the young woman whispered with a soft smile.
"What a beautiful name, for such a lovely savior."
The young woman giggled.
"Thank you."
Geralt rolled his eyes: No matter the situation, Jaskier Dandelion will remain an incorrigible seducer.
"Instead of doing your charm act, come back this way before you catch a cold!"
"Oh, I'm dreaming! The terrible Geralt of Rivia is worried about me?"
"Come back here, before I regret it!"
"I'm coming, I'm coming ..." sighed the bard, who swam towards the shore, accompanied by the young woman.
But as the bard climbed onto dry land, the witcher saw a detail that surprised him: instead of seeing legs, he saw a shimmering fishtail of a thousand colors.
"Dandelion ..."
"What? What's wrong with Geralt?"
"At the risk of surprising you, I think we found our mermaid."
"What do you mean ?"
Dandelion began to understand when he saw the fishtail.
"OH MY GOD!"
To their surprise, they saw immense sadness appear on the young woman's face.
"And there you go, it's always the same: As soon as I help a human, he gets scared and calls me a monster. So it will never end?"
Oddly, the mermaid's words sounded familiar to the witcher. And there was no evidence that she was acting to trick them.
Sheathing his sword, he approached her and asked:
"Why did you save Dandelion?"
"He sounded nice ... and I love listening to his songs."
"Thanks, I appreciate the compliment."
(F / N) smirked before returning his attention to Geralt.
"You are not human. Am I wrong?"
"Indeed."
The mermaid's smile widened.
"So you must be the witcher of the song."
"Unfortunately, yes." he chuckled.
"Oh, shut up! I know that you are flattered to have your own song!" Dandelion retorted.
The bard asked the young woman:
"But then, if you are not the dangerous creature everyone is talking about, why are the inhabitants accused you of all their misfortunes?"
"I don't know why, but I swear to you it wasn't I who ran away from the fish or sunk the fishing boats."
The answer became crystal clear to Geralt.
"They are afraid."
"Sorry?"
"They are afraid of her, so they accuse her of being the root of their problems."
"Something you know all too well," Dandelion told him sympathetically.
"Yes."
The three individuals remained silent before Geralt said:
"Now that we know the truth, what do we do?"
"Aren't you going to hand her over to these bullies?"
"No."
"Phew, at least some good news. In that case ... let's take her with us."
"And how would we do it? Let me point out that she has a fishtail, not legs."
"I think we can fix this problem." replied the young woman, pulling herself up onto dry land.
And under the dumbfounded eyes of the two men, the fish scales gave way to a pair of long, thin legs.
"Oh. Here's a surprise." Dandelion replied, amused.
"I admit that this is not trivial."
"Now, do you want us to take her with us? I beg you, say yes!"
The witcher shrugged.
"We can take him, but how are we going to get the money back?"
Dandelion smirked mischievously.
"I think I have an idea. Here's what we're going to do ..."
The next morning.
Arkon Gerenyon was puzzled at the story Geralt and Dandelion had just told him.
"So, if I understood correctly, after you fought the mermaid, you managed to defeat her, but she sank to the bottom of the water before you could take a trophy, is that it?"
"It is the strict truth, my lord. I saw the whole scene with my own eyes." the bard swore.
The witcher was content to remain silent and observe his traveling companion lying with impunity to an aristocrat. But knowing Dandelion, he knows he will be convincing.
And he was right because, after a few minutes of silent reflection, the Lord of Socalyn declared:
"Indeed, it is a great pity that I cannot hang the head of this creature on my wall. But anyway, I am satisfied with your work, gentlemen. You are free to go, your money is waiting for you near your horses."
After thanking their employer, the two men left the scene and resumed their journey, their pockets filled with gold coins.
"So, didn't I tell you it would work?"
"It especially proves that you are a good talker!"
"Ungrateful! I made you rich!" Dandelion snapped.
In response, he heard a slight laugh coming from Geralt. This reaction made him smile.
"Hallelujah! I made the biggest grumpy of all time laugh!"
"Don't overdo it! Let's not waste time, we have to get back on the road!"
"You're right, but above all ..."
He called.
"(F / N), you can come, we are alone."
Immediately, the young mermaid left her hiding place and climbed on Roach.
"Can we go?"
"Since everyone is here, let's go!"
And our trio set off on new adventures. Time passed, and the more he got to know her, the more Geralt began to like (F / N) ... all under Dandelion's amused and tender gaze.
One evening, when they had stopped near a lake, the young mermaid decided to take a swim because she had missed her natural element. But very quickly, she felt that she was being watched.
She turned and smiled when she saw Geralt sitting on the edge, a slight smile on his face.
"What are you doing here?"
"You look ... happy. And I'm glad you're smiling with us."
"I owe both of you my happiness ... and especially you, Geralt."
She lowered her eyes slightly and asked in a shy voice:
"Do you ... want to join me?"
No answer. Ashamed and disappointed, (F/N) was about to leave when she felt the water stir gently. She raised her head and met the witcher's amber gaze. The latter was only in his pants and moved closer to her, leaving a small distance between their faces.
"I'd rather act than talk. Don't blame me."
"I don't blame you. After all, it's in your nature."
"So what's yours, mermaid?"
"Let me show you."
"I follow you."
And without a word, their lips collided, and their hands were on their bodies.
As they took advantage of this unreal moment, the two lovers had no idea that Dandelion was watching them, a broad smile on his lips.
"That promises a great story ... Oh, I have an idea!"
Grabbing his lute, the bard began to play a few notes and sang his new song:
From the forest to the peak,
His heart, the witcher thought he lost.
He wanted it back at any cost,
As he was scared to be weak.
Little did he know,
His heart lays in the shallow.
But a gentle lady,
Sweet and pretty,
Found it and cherished this treasure.
Moved by her love,
The witcher offered her
His love, his life, and his sword.
O Destiny,
You the Almighty!
Please, protect them,
And tell us all the tale
Of the Witcher and the Mermaid!
And for the bard, it was probably one of the most beautiful stories he ever sang.
Hope you lik the story! Don’t hesitate to request!

siren jaskier au
imagine jaskier being a siren.
jaskier who has a dark past and an even darker future, jaskier whose heart of gold breaks at the thought of being forced to take more innocent lives with the beauty of his voice. jaskier whose eyes of ocean blue get tired of watching young people's faces beam up with excitement upon seeing who is the being behind the ethereal voice calling them from the deeps, and then their face get washed over by pure terror. imagine jaskier getting sadder and sadder. when he's of age, jaskier longs to leave the sea.. and the coast.. behind.
so he finally leaves. he joins a university thanks to his smarts, he excels there, he dreams of using his voice for good. he learns how to write songs that will sell, he learns how to play all the instruments, he manages to blend in and become a land dweller in no time. he makes a lot of friends and even more enemies, his silky, pure voice draws in the crowd no matter what he sings about. he learnt that on land his voice is healing.
he is wanted. for his voice, sure, but also for his looks and smarts, and he finds himself being everything he ever dreamt of being - accepted. welcomed. wanted, even. no longer jaskier the drowner of ships, no more jaskier the taker of lives. he's finally found home and a purpose. he tours the land, singing his poems. but his ballads' words are empty, for he dares not sing of his past beside mermaids and fish, of his atrocious reputation underwater, of the watery depths that were his home. his words are empty, but at least they sell well.
and then he meets one geralt of rivia, and jaskier sees. he meets one geralt of rivia, and jaskier realises - he finally has a subject to sing about, someone.. different. different than the rest, as he is, and also different than him - and jaskier decides to commit himself to the task. to sing about this man with hair of moonlight and eyes of gold, and to watch how finally his past starts to leave him.
but not for long.
because geralt of rivia, being a monster hunter, chases the abominations of the land. he kills them and rids the world of their filth.
jaskier is a monster. and his past comes calling.
geralt had been summoned countless times to deal with unruly sirens that called out to innocent passerby and drowned them. he chased them off and so it ended.
but one time, when jaskier went away from geralt in order to satisfy his hunger - chicken can hold it off only for so long - geralt found him, amongst the sirens he was called and payed to kill.
they spoke nothing of that incident, but every once in a while when jaskier's hunger conquers him and his past comes knocking, he is being reminded.
reminded that he is a monster,
reminded that his beautiful voice is poison, and each time he sings on land he can feel an ancient ache in his chest,
and geralt will never want him, for he is a being geralt swore to kill,
and jaskier tells himself to shut it.
but when jaskier sees those eyes of molten gold, he remembers, too.
jaskier once met one geralt of rivia, and he fell.
