Quentin’s abilities / development  please dnr this as this is for my RP blog thank you.

Iconless because i’m but a gremlin man writing at 1 am: after the incident with freddy Quentin’s dad died, though i haven’t touched on this it’s a very important time in his life and super impactful. Quentin’s dad wasn’t very close to him after quen’s mom died, and they grew even more distant after the outburst at the school, though after he came home from the hospital, quentin felt he owed his dad a slight apology, he was very upset about his dad lying, but at the same time he understood why his dad did so, after two years he and his dad were finally in good standing, though they weren’t close enough for quentin to be comfortable with telling his dad everything about himself, around the same time quentin’s dreams worsened, he began to see freddy again and even though freddy couldn’t do anything to him, his fear lead to his first power:  Dream introspection: he was able to detect negative energy when someone was dreaming, able to tell when they were having nightmares vs when they were having a good dream, and able to piece together weather that dream has been manipulated by some outside entity, this aids him mostly for himself, able to detect freddy within his own dreams as easily escape him. 

dream invasion: Unwillingly, Quentin developed the ability to accidentally wander into someone’s dream,  via cracks in his own, doorways he created, or any other way, he would end up in someone else’s psyche, at times this is good, it allowed him to understand more of a person, though he was never quite sure how to control this power, unfortunately this ability came with a downside, as quentin was able to create doorways to others dreams, freddy was able to follow, this is what led to his father’s death, he accidentally into his father’s dream, quentin at this point was untouchable by freddy, he was able to escape easily and hide, though his father was at a disadvantage, and as soon as freddy realized where he was, he decided to take revenge on Quentin’s father, and kill him in his dream, which resulted in his death in reality, Quentin blames himself heavily for this and believes it should’ve been him who died that night, that night is when he decided he needed to leave town, and he was pronounced missing, and the scene was said to be a burglary gone wrong.  Aura reading / Divination : As much time as Quentin spent in the dream realm, he learned two things, he can control the dreams to an extent, and he can see the auras of others, including freddy, he’s unsure if freddy could see his, though he did use this to his advantage, in the real world however, he was able to detect the moral standing of someone based on their auras, their intentions and problems manifested in their persona and he was easily able to detect who had been affected by freddy, later he uses this to track down survivors, and placed connected to such survivors. Quentin also developed an ability to use Tarot cards to gain insight on future events, with his close connection to a realm not of his own, he was able to use them to his advantage and find places that needed to be explored, as well as outcomes if he chose to explore such places, if the cards seem to point to something bad, he would avoid it until they said it was the right time, and thus far, the cards were never wrong.  Close connection to nature: along with his connection to a realm not of his own, he also developed a connection with nature, special stones, and locations that aid him in fending off freddy, this helped him for years until he decided it was time to stop to face freddy headon, though now he uses it as protection against malice held in locations connected with killers in the fog, and is able to traverse these locations following the guide of nature as well as the stones, these are his most powerful abilities to utilize.  I hope this gives you more insight on my quentin. HELLO! So i’ve been here for quite a bit and i’m kinda tired of posting starter calls so instead, i post this ! this just says you want me to write you starters / send you asks or just plot, and it just gives me peace of mind ! my name is kj and im here to talk about cochlear implants!  if you don’t know what they are, that’s fine! that’s why I’m making this post for you! I’ll talk a bit about the history, a bit about what it does and explain how it does what it does, and the cultural effects it has had so far! 

Cochlear implants were developed in 1978 by Graeme Clark in order to communicate with his father who at the time, was deaf, it took him years to get it to work, though he finally got it. 

cochlear implants are implants that are placed within a recipients head with a receiver and transmitter, and were developed to bypass normal hearing and use a form of electronic hearing instead, the sound goes in, gets made into electronic signals that the brain interprets as sound, and done! the person can hear! though, it’s not like we hear for obvious reasons. this is what the implant looks like. 

that sounds great right? a device that allows a deaf person to hear??? why doesn’t everyone get this?? 

well there’s a few reasons, in deaf culture this is seen as trying to “fix” a deaf person, and that’s not good - Being deaf isn’t a disability to them, and to me as someone who studies ASL & deaf culture and has hearing problems as well, though from an outside perspective, it’s seen as such. most deaf adults decide against getting cochlear implants as they’ve grown up deaf and see no need in being able to “hear” if they can do everything we hearing people can without being able to hear. a big problem with this also is that 90% of deaf children are born to hearing adults who would do anything for their child to hear them and be able to communicate, ASL is a second thought to most of them so a cochlear implant is something that seem appealing to them, even though there isn’t a difference between deaf children who learn ASL and hearing children who learn a spoken language in the cognitive ability aspect of it all. though this isn’t considered as before, doctors would recommend speech therapy and spoken language as opposed to ASL, and it’s shown that taking this route does set the child back a bit.
