Hahahaha... pretty much non-existent, to be honest. Like, this man has legit been abstinent for years, to the point where he is definitely not the most sexually active person around. Someone should probably end up showing him a good time, though, because he definitely deserves it.

    "Whoa, now that's one doozy of a question right there!" Kakeru exclaims while sheepishly running a hand through his dark, unkempt locks. Truth be told, he wasn't expecting someone to be that curious, they would ask what kind of women he liked... yet so rarely did he get to talk about his own taste regarding the fairer sex, he finds himself sporting a softer grin.

    "Still, I guess there's no harm in a little guy talk," Kakeru then finally acknowledges. "Now, this is just between you and me, you hear, but I really tend to fancy cute, cheerful ladies with a love for life... a real go-getter who lives every day to the fullest. 'Course, it's not an absolute requirement for her to be that way - it's simply who I find myself being the most attracted to."

                    ...In other words, his type is basically @aaternum's Ryu.

    "Uh... no? That's probably just a you thing," Kakeru states while suddenly finding himself very concerned over Ryu's physical well being. Seriously, unless one happened to be tired, distracted, or intoxicated, it wasn't normal to be that unaware of your spatial surroundings. "Unlike a certain student I know, I don't get lost very easily... and I actually keep my eyes on the road whenever I drive," he then tells her.

    Of course, by student, he was referring to one Ryotaro Date... and coming from someone as slovenly as him, most might have trouble believing it, but truth be told, Kakeru was honestly more responsible than he lets on. Granted, him almost always showing up early was mostly attributed to his trauma, yet still, he liked to think that he at least had a proper head on his shoulders when it really counted.

    "Are you sure you aren't doing drugs, Ryu-chan? 'Cause it sure seems to me you might either be super scatterbrained or happen to be high on something..." If it happened to be the former, though, Kakeru might just end up driving her around more often.

    ...Thank goodness he ended up reaching her in time; otherwise, Mikan might have flown into the air before landing in a bloody heap along the road the same way his late brother had. Now that Kakeru had ensured she was safe, however, he would expel a relieved sigh he had long withheld from past his tightened throat. Of course, he'll report the assailant to the police later, but for the time being, he'll extend an arm out towards his young charge while bending his knees slightly forward.

    "Don't worry about it, Mikan-chan... I'm just glad you're safe. Do you need help getting back up?" Kakeru then questions, allowing concern to seep through his voice. "You aren't hurt, are you? I swear... kids these days can be so cruel." As he speaks, his lone eye would soon shift from her teary-eyed gaze down to the leg that had slammed against gravel. Truth be told, he wanted to inspect it right away, but that would require for Mikan to stand first; therefore, he'll continue dangling an outstretched palm towards her.

her   heart   knows   she   cannot   feasibly   be   that   clumsy.   some   of   it   was   with   purpose,   carefully   orchestrated   delineation   of   feminine   vulnerability   :   never   under   the   commination   of   danger.   danger   that   grows,   elevates   itself,   all   the   risk   of   bruised   knees   and   broken   bones,   cracked   rib   cage   impious   to   any   and   all   tenderness   laying   within.   as   such,   it's   become   anticipated   for   mikan   to   take   an   unexpected   tumble,   ankles   hooking   onto   an   outstretched   foot   waiting   for   the   lamb   to   wander   into   the   dark   forest.

this   time,   it's   when   she's   (   lilting   and   tentatively   )   on   the   sidewalk,   absently   gripping   the   wrist   of   her   right   arm   with   the   fingers   of   her   left,   rubbing   her   thumb   against   her   forearm.   a   method   of   self   -   soothing,   near   indiscernible   to   the   outside   world   /   she's   learned   her   lesson   from   playing   with   her   hair   and   shaking   out   her   hands.   so   perhaps   mikan   is   not   entirely   surprised   when   she   feels   hands   (   unfamiliar,   unkind,   unforgiving   ;   an   enemy   she's   never   known   )   form   against   the   small   of   her   back,   weight   pushing   her   into   the   erotic   moans   of   the   cars   speeding   past.   disenthralled   from   the   weights   of   the   world,   her   eyes   clench   shut,   preparing   herself   for   what   was   to   come.

the   face   that   focuses   in   from   the   blur   of   her   adjusting   eyes   is   not   one   she   entirely   anticipated,   the   face   of   .   .   .   no,   certainly   that   couldn't   be   one   kakeru   hasegawa.   a   face   she   hasn't   seen   for   at   least   a   few   years,   not   since   she   escaped   the   unkind,   teenage   girl   -   laden   clutches   of   lapis   lazuli   girl's   high   school.   it   takes   just   as   long   for   mikan   to   realize   she'd   inadvertently   tumbled   onto   to   the   sidewalk   after   having   been   yanked   backwards,   roseate   scrape   of   gravel   against   her   knee.   heavy   without   the   knowledge   of   her   assailant,   mikan   nevertheless   offers   her   former   school   doctor   a   tentative   grimace.

To be honest, for as forgetful as Kakeru could be, I still sincerely believe he is very good at remembering pronouns (unless of course, it’s neopronouns, due to the fact they are a very Western concept and he himself is only used to Japanese pronouns like watashi, boku, ore, etc) but bad at remembering names.

Like, he’s quick to go ‘alright’ without even questioning you or reacting with confusion on the off chance you bring up you use they/them pronouns or use gendered pronouns despite being gender-queer, if only because I headcanon he had a non-binary ex-lover at one point in time, so the existence of non-binary/agender folks really isn’t new to him; in fact, I don’t think he would treat someone any differently before or after they reveal they’re trans because he already accepts that people come from all walks of life. He would, however, prefer to be told a patient is a trans person beforehand, if only so he could provide them with the best treatment possible.

Like, it’s weird because Kakeru is that one heteronormative LGBT person who hardly ever brings up his sexuality to other people, but would canonically wear a sash with the pansexual pride colours in his concept art, so the people who are more self aware are constantly questioning if there’s more to him than truly meets the eye. I mean, on one hand, he would have no qualms implying he’s attracted to women, but on the other hand, he also shamelessly wears the pansexual pride colours as if it’s the most natural thing in the world.

Regardless, though, Kakeru is a cis man you wouldn’t necessarily expect to be surprisingly understanding and chill about trans people, but he is; in fact, he would never give you a hard time about your gender the way most cis people would. Due to this, I imagine trans students attending Shin Mikado Academy are able to trust him the most out of all the teachers, because he doesn’t judge them for being who they are or make them conform to their ‘birth gender’, despite Japan generally frowning upon individuality and those who stand out from everyone else

Spoilers abound for Monark, so if you plan on playing it blind at some point, feel free to skip past this post! As a disclaimer, bolded terms/names will have their own glossary at the end of this post, so people will know what they actually mean even with no prior knowledge of Monark.

Honestly, this is by no means canon, but I like to think that a side effect from being the Pactbearer of Greed is that you can’t exactly die from old age anymore, so those who were previously bound to Avaritia (the Monark of Greed) either die from grievous injuries, poison, or suicide... so in a way, Kakeru is pretty much immortal, as long as someone doesn’t stab him or he himself doesn’t take extreme measures to end his own life.

Still, him choosing to commit suicide is hardly likely, so if anything, he’s far likelier to die from being murdered than, say... overdosing on pills. Due to this, it’s very possible that had Yoru not severely injured him or his Ideals weren’t shattered, Kakeru could live long past the age of 100 years old.

Naturally, he can still physically age, but because he’s granted the ability to rewind time and teleport anywhere he pleases as the Pactbearer of Greed, he could theoretically alter his appearance too by using his Authority on himself, especially since it’s canonically established he could easily manipulate time and space itself to heal any injury he gets by making it so it never happened to begin with. Kakeru just chooses not to make himself look younger because he thinks he’s already handsome the way he is.

Modern verse wise, though, I made it so he never ended up forging a Pact with Avaritia... meaning there is no angst-y plot elements to his story and he never gets to experience multiple time loops/timelines like how he did in Monark.

GLOSSARY.

Monark: Ruler class entity among the Daemons who are responsible for the spawning of lower ranked Daemons called Nobles and Legion. They are drawn to strong Egos and wishes, forming pacts with humans and granting them special abilities called Authorities. The Monarks are associated with the seven sins or desires.

Avaritia: Daemon of Greed who canonically takes on this form and this form. Those who make a pact with them end up getting Chronokinesis, the ability to manipulate space and time.

Authority: Powers that go against the laws of the universe. Only Daemons, residents of the Otherworld, and Pactbearers are capable of wielding them. Because these powers adhere to the laws of the Otherworld, their usage creates distortions in the world, giving rise to distortions such as Mist.

Ideals: Manifestation of a pact between a Daemon and a human. They appear as physical crystals within the Otherworld. There are three Ideals formed for each pact. The areas of the Otherworld containing these pacts can be accessed from areas of the Mist receiving a call from that part of the Otherworld. These spots in the Mist can be identified by a messy stack of smartphones in the vicinity of where the calls are received. Ideals are usually left defended by Daemons.

FAVOURITES!

♡  color  : Kakeru honestly wears a lot of whites and blacks, so I like to say he favours a mixture of light and dark hues ( aka black with white, lavender with gray, etc ).

♡  holiday  : Valentines Day, if only because it’s a day he tends to receive giri choco from the female students and he happens to actually like sweets.

♡  location  : Anywhere with a nice comfy bed, to be honest.

♡  activity  : Napping, golfing, and anything that doesn’t require much physical strength.

♡  film / show  : I feel like Kakeru would personally be fond of Godzilla, because it was a film he grew up watching.

♡  food  : I kinda delved more into this with the headcanon post I’ve written for him over here, but one meal that specifically comes to mind is Sapporo Soup Curry.

♡  beverage  : Again, I delved more into his favourite beverage here, but the TLDR version is that he likes saké.

♡  animal  : Not gonna lie, I don’t think Kakeru necessarily has a favourite animal? But he does tend to like those that are quiet and calm, so I could see him being really fond of an older dog or a less aggressive cat.

♡  flower  : Plum blossoms and pink verbenas. To be honest, I headcanon Kakeru is honestly quite knowledgeable when it comes to hanakotoba because he grew up with parents who ran a flower shop, so those two happen to have the most significance for him, if only because plum blossoms symbolize ‘fidelity, beauty, longevity’ while also meaning ‘keep your promise’ while pink verbenas pretty much means ‘family union’ in the language of flowers.

♡  song  : I feel like Kakeru is more of a jazz and classical music type of guy? Like, I cannot see him being into heavy metal or rock at all... so the type of songs he listens to would be soothing and relaxing orchestral music or Japanese jazz, so while he doesn’t necessarily have a favourite song, his music tends to very old school.

    "N-Now, wait one second, Mokou-chan!" Kakeru exclaims while holding both palms outwards in a defensive position. Honestly, he didn't think she would react with such vitriol after he proceeded to call her adorable for not being able to reach for something on even the lower shelf, but whatever the case may be, it doesn't take long for him to regret his earlier words. "I was only just teasing... so don't go breaking my poor kneecaps, okay? Not only do the students still need me, Shironeko-sensei will never let me hear the end of it if she finds out I managed to get hurt," Kakeru then stresses.

    Of course, knowing Neiko, she would doubtlessly take care of him, but regardless, the last person he would consistently want at his bedside was her, so should it mean his kneecaps would be left intact, he was more than willing to make peace with Mokou.

"Do you enjoy the school atmosphere?" Bo-ra questioned, while sitting beside him and watching the pupils enjoy their own break. "You could have worked at a hospital or even your own clinic, why here?" Meanwhile she actually dared to pick a piece of his meal with her chopsticks, which vanished quickly past her lips. Seems like the box with salad in her hand was not as exciting as his lunch. Losing weight seemed to be impossible for her, but she still tried at times.

    "Well, I guess there's not much I'd hate about it; after all, there's something comforting about seeing the kids enjoying their youth to the fullest," Kakeru states as he continues observing the uniformed students of Shin Mikado Academy with his lone eye. The moment Bo-ra questioned why he decided to work here, however, he almost grimaced, for it was a question that proved rather personal, but upon not wanting to worry her, he'll shrug.

    "Let's just say the hospital life doesn't exactly suit me; besides, running my own clinic would be too much work. I mean, not only would I have to hire my own set of assistants and everything, it really seems more trouble than it's worth." Sure enough, he'll then push his bowl of salmon ochazuke further off towards her so she could have more if she wished. Why, considering his appetite wasn't that huge to begin with, he didn't mind sharing.

    "And it's actually close by to where I live, making my commute to and from the academy very convenient," Kakeru soon adds while neglecting to mention it was also the place where his deceased younger brother used to attend school, because that would probably make Bo-ra regret asking. ...Still, if she bothered visiting the Memorial Garden, which happened to be a wooded area near the Old Dormitory with narrow pathways that contained a memorial for students who passed away during their time at the Academy, she would find a student by the name of Mitsuru Hasegawa listed on there.

    Considering it was such a rich, prestigious academic institution, however, the three multi-floor buildings, coupled with a massive club building, a library with the largest collection of books in the country, sports facilities for extra-curricular activities, and middle school facilities might stand out more than the massive memorial garden with a now-defunct dormitory that used to be utilized for students outside of the city.

She knocked on his door, though she opened even before Kakeru could give his okay, as Bo-ra entered his little office, the medical room. With one of her pupils right in front of her, a bag already in their hands (and no more empty either). "Got some work for you," she smiled at him, which held something mischievous. "And before you forget, this is Sato-kun." Patting the boy, who was still in his swimming trunks, but had a towel around himself, while Bo-ra had carried his bag for him. He sure had tried his best to keep it inside over the long way.

    Upon hearing a knock on his door, Kakeru would soon glance up from his half eaten cup of instant ramen... but before he could say, 'Yes, who is it?', Bo-ra would soon invite herself in alongside another student, causing him to lower his chopsticks back through the kimchi flavoured soup.

    "Ah, if it isn't Dora-sensei!" Sure enough, his gaze would then wander from Sato back towards his fellow faculty member's mischievous smile and the mysterious bag she was holding all while seemingly remaining oblivious he had gotten her name wrong. Honestly, so curious was he, Kakeru ends up gradually emerging up to his own feet with bewildered, absentminded blinks rolling off his lone eye.

    "Er... that's all fine and dandy, but can I ask what you and Sato-kun exactly have in store for me?" he then questions, because when it came down to it, all he really had at his disposal was his medical expertise... therefore, unless the job happened to be suitable enough for a doctor, he couldn't see himself being of much use.

    Does he have a recommendation? Truth be told, Kakeru had to mull that one over for a bit with his thumb and forefinger stroking his chin, for beverage wise, it wasn't as though he was accustomed to ordering anything else other than coffee. "You know, now that you mention it... I always just order a dark medium roast coffee every time I come here, so I can't exactly vouch for any of the other drinks on the menu. I did notice, though, that plenty young ladies seem to either order their fancy lattes or teas," came his eventual admittance as he clasps a hand around the handle of his mug.

    "Meaning maybe you could try taking a page outta their book?" Not long afterwards, he would then absentmindedly tilt the brim up towards his lips before managing a nod in Ryu's direction once he finishes swallowing.

    "Sure, we'll get you a raspberry iced tea then. And if you don't like it, well... I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it," Kakeru goes on to nonchalantly shrug. Honestly, the whole entire time, he couldn't help wondering if raspberry happened to be her favourite fruit or she simply wanted to be adventurous; still, he didn't exactly have time to ask, because the next thing he knew, Ryu would flag down the waiter, who would subsequently shake their head accompanied by a bright, customer service smile.

    "O-Oh, no! It's fine," they would stress while sauntering forward. "What can I get for you today?" No sooner did that query leave their lips, they then proceeded to take out a pen and notebook, causing Kakeru to finally straighten his back. "Let's see... we would like to order some pizza toast, the matcha sponge cake, and uh... a katsu sando? Oh, and for drinks, she said she wanted a raspberry iced tea." Sure enough, he'll immediately turn to regard Ryu once more as if to wordlessly request confirmation she indeed wanted a katsu sandwich. "That's everything, right?"

An image of him reclined over the leather seats within the gallery is fleeting, lips curved with the thought of him dozing off. His ability to rest whenever and wherever was impressive– concerning, yes, but impressive (maybe he needed a little extra iron in his diet). Idly, she turns the laminated page of the menu into a makeshift fan, eyes darting around for the server. They’d been hovering nearby, attempting to make eye contact to see if the pair were ready to order. Kakeru’s redirection much needed apparently. “    Mm, do you have a recommendation? If not, the raspberry iced tea sounds nice.  ” 

She lifts a hand, smiling up towards the one patiently waiting for them to ready for orders, “   Hey, sorry ‘bout that! I talk a lot, I think we’re ready to order .. no?    ”  Attention redirected to Kakeru, she tilts her head, hoping she didn’t jump the gun too soon.

     “Yo, Ryu-chan! Hard at work as ever, I see.” With that same carefree grin stretched along his lips, he’ll manage a lackadaisical wave towards her the moment their eyes met. “Tell me - did you guys finally manage to install an elevator in here? ‘Cause that would sure as heck be convenient for an ol-...er, young man like me!” Of course, under ordinary circumstances, Kakeru would have had no reason to visit a gallery, but considering his late younger brother’s works happened to be featured here, he’ll occasionally stop by to admire his paintings.

      Fortunately, though, Ryu’s name not containing more than two syllables had made it so he didn’t have a tough time remembering hers. Kensuke, on the other hand, failed to have such luck; in fact, much to the poor boy’s chagrin, he would either be called Keisuke, Kinsuke, Kyosuke, or Kosuke.

     Honestly, it was a miracle the majority of the staff members hadn’t found him a nuisance yet, what with him constantly forgetting their names and napping on the lounge chairs. To be fair, though, they were comfy and for him, walking around the gallery proved so physically exhausting, could anyone really blame for needing a breather or two?

Honestly, while it would be nice, Kakeru doesn’t actively seek romance. Why, at one point, he even tells the protagonist he makes himself unappealing on purpose due to his position as school doctor.

Like, sure, he might not technically be a teacher, but he’s still a faculty member and it’s personally against his code of conduct to allow that relationship between him and another student, but dating in the workplace is also a bit iffy for him... due to how outside of AUs, the only female teacher remotely attractive is Neiko and even then, he considers her to be a bit too no-nonsense for his tastes.

Of course, due to this being the case, Kakeru strikes me as the sorta person to just let things happen naturally, to the point where his current love life is practically non-existent, because he is no rush to really love again. Back when he was younger, however, he did have two significant others and interestingly enough, one happened to be a guy while the other one happened to an androgynous non-binary individual.

Sadly, though, those relationships never ended up working out, meaning they’re now exes, but unlike what fanon might have you you believe, I personally don’t headcanon Kakeru as a virgin. He just gets no bitches, because the ladies don’t tend to find his scruffiness hot and he’s more of an acquired taste than anything else.

As for crushes, though, he canonically doesn’t have any, but rp-wise, he currently fancies @aaternum’s Ryu... and while I haven’t yet gotten around to throwing Kakeru at her yet, I also like the idea of him growing to develop feelings for @amaurct’s Kazuko, but for that to happen, I have to actually write it.

To Kakeru, winter is definitely a lot more bearable than summer, because at least then, he doesn’t have to endure the hot sweltering sun beating down on him when going outside, to the point where the sweat from his clothes would cling to his skin. Still, now that he’s older, the cold weather during winter makes him experience joint pain quite often and the snow is a pain to traverse on foot or car, so it’s not like there aren’t downsides to winter either.

If nothing else, though, Kakeru appreciates the fact he has an excuse to stay indoors more often and that he can simply just throw on a sweater to be comfy. What’s more, provided the snow ever gets to be too much, school could also be cancelled, meaning he can simply relax back home.

As for any significant thoughts or feelings, though, he does remember building a snowman with his younger brother, Mitsuru, skiing with him at Mount Moiwa, and attending the Snow Festival in Sapporo alongside the rest of his family members. Despite the fact it was always freezing in Sapporo, however, he had fond memories of it, and to this day, Sapporo Soup Curry remains his favourite dish. These days, though, the only time he really eats it is when he bothers visiting the city where the dish stems from or @aaternum’s Ryu cooks it for him.

...But yeah, whenever he thinks about winter, Sapporo, snow, and cold weather is what immediately comes to mind.
