I never interacted with HP growing up (due to being raised by neurotically strict and religious parents), therefore I never had any sort of fundamental coming-of-age-feelings towards it like most people my age did/do; furthermore I never had any exposure to the fandom, and by extension its discourse. Until I watched the movies as an adult, I really had no knowledge of it outside of vague pop culture references and things I’d gleaned from mutuals. Which makes it so unbelievably fucking funny to me that i got to liking this one character who would end up being the only one I cared about in the long run (and lowkey sort of related to), only to find out they’re one of the most controversial characters in-fandom. Fucking golden lmao
