“ why did you come? ” (Olivier)
The past few days felt hazy to Sora. Faces were blurred, any memories that could have the foggiest idea of who he was were obscured. At times, he felt as though was watching his own life through the lens of someone else, rather than himself. He simply wandered from place to place aimlessly without any true destination or plan in mind.
Which led him to this moment. Sora didn’t even notice the young boy until he was right before him. The tiny, young voice broke through his muddled thoughts, making his head perk up just a bit.
He blinked, trying to regain some sense of self. Oh. The boy asked him a question.

“Oh! I mean-.” A tight, forced smile made its way across his fatigued features. It looked more akin to a grimace then a sincere grin. “Do I need a reason to be here? I mean-I kinda just wandered here. Your guess is as good as mine. ” Was he not supposed to be here? He thought about asking out loud, but he simply shrugged and placed his hands behind his head, not having the energy to. Even with his bubbly demeanor, his mind was still consumed by the ever-suffocating feelings of others. It made it hard to think.
And yet. He hardly felt anything from this boy. Sora let out a soft hum of confusion, eyes flickering down to look at the other inquisitively. “But uh…could you maybe tell me where I am, little fella?” His voice was soft, but not quite timid. His hands went back down to his side. “And-who’re you?” The latter question was more concern to him. It was unsettling how such a young heart was so…void of anything.

“ do you remember anything at all? ”
“I-“ Sora’s eyes flickered downwards, his normally bubbly gaze suddenly weary and filled with confusion.
Something about the question stung at his fragile heart. It wasn’t the man’s fault of course, it was just a painful reminder. That no-he couldn’t remember anything. It was as if he was wiped clean completely.
Subconsciously, Sora curled in on himself and arms tightly locked to hug himself. He squeezed his eyes shut, not able to bring himself to look at this stranger.
Everything was just so unclear and bleak. He took a shaky breath to try and reign himself in, before opening his eyes again. “I…no. I don’t.” He admittedly solemnly, looking off to the side and feeling a wave of shame wash over him. It wasn’t his own fault either, and he knew that. That didn’t make it any less frustrating or disheartening. Whose fault was it then?
Tumblr media
“It’s just-foggy stuff, really.” The sound of a blade being summoned, one that can traverse the stars themselves. Flashes of silver and pink hair, accompanied by the familiar hissing sounds of water washing up onto a beach. The sound of water always brought a feeling of calm to him, for reasons beyond his understanding. Maybe it was just a nice sound? Who knew. “I still remember how to do basic stuff like math-but my memories…they’re all vague and weird. Like a dream.”
Would anyone come looking for him? Did he have anyone? Then he remembers the glimpses of silver and rose-tinted locks, the laughter that often accompanied those memories, and his heart softens just a tad.
Sora felt a surge of warmth spread through his chest, and raises his head more. “I remember my name though! That’s….a start, hehe. It’s Sora!” He did a little hop upon his exclamation, expressing his elation. He smiled, and while it was clear he was still fatigued, it was genuine, even if just for a moment.
Tumblr media
“What’s yours?” He faltered, rubbing the back of his head and smoothing down his wild locks of hair as he did. “I mean-if I can ask. I know some people here get touchy about it….”

Starter Call!
Tumblr media
The sound of waves crashing against the shore always comforted Sora. It made a part of him know that no matter how many worlds he went to, he could always come back to this. The salty, crisp air, wincing at how sharp the coldness was as he stepped into the water, and then relaxing all over again with a soft smile. He closed his eyes and allowed his head to lull back a bit, allowing the wind to rustle his spiky mound of hair.
What made all of this better was…the tranquility. As much as Sora thrived in public spaces, and as much as he loved to see his friends and citizens of other worlds thrive…the sheer amount of emotion that swarmed him from others on a daily basis was overwhelming. Things just came so…loud. Even if he was used to it, he still had difficulty taming it. It made him want to get away, to sort his own emotions out as to not confuse them for someone else's. To not hurt himself. He’s gotten better at it, and yet still he still had the occasional slip ups.
…It hurt. It really did, especially when no one else knew or could possibly understand. Not Riku, not Kairi, no one. But that was okay. He didn’t need them to know, he just occasionally wanted time of reprieve. That’s all he needed to be, everyone’s anchor, their protector. So, he sat down near the shore, close enough to where the water was still touching his feet. He didn’t even notice the person near him until his nerves spiked, sensing a fellow heart nearby.
