My name is Hedone and I've been in this community for about three years now. I love it truly and wish never to be parted from it. But in that time I've noticed somethings. Like how it can be difficult to survive it, especially when your starting out I feel. So, to give back I made this;

This is your guide on how to make friends and survive the selfshipping community.

So with that out the way, there are some steps to survive.

Create -

In my view, self shipping is often a creative outlet as it is a comforting one. The ability to take a piece of media into my hands and shape it to my whims and will is often awe-inspiring. I'll admit it's easier to see it with other people than with ourselves.

So with this in mind - start off small, though if you want to go guns blazing you can do that too. It doesn't have to be a lot. If you feel embarrassed, don't be. If you are afraid then don't worry cus your definitely not alone there.

Often times it helps to make a promo. This way people who find you can know some quick facts; your title, your fos and any other bits of info you wish to give. Most people will want to know if you share an fo or not - whether this is in case they are uncomfortable with share or want to know if your comfortable with sharing. Whether you are or not is your choice.

'this user' boxes are a fun way to decorate and tell people about yourself. If your worried about how it looks, then make another one, there's no limit unless you make one. Some people make Cards for it. If that's intimidating, don't worry boo, this is Tumblr - you do you.

My first real post was about what it would be like my mind was like a house and what which fos would stay and which ones would come and go. I posted it three years ago and in all that time it has gotten 16 notes on it. Does that mean that I shouldn't have created it? no, no it doesn't. Because when I read it it makes me happy.

Do a gush post, make art, start 'reblog with your f/o' game, write stories, make a moodboard - start the flow on those creative juices.

interact -

I've seen a lot of people be nervous about talking to new people and I can tell you, I feel the same. Its daunting, talking to someone new and it can be awkward wading through the small talk. Most people are in the same boat as you; nervous and wishing to talk about their fos.

Instead of focusing on being popular, try and make friends instead, its much much more emotionally fulling than the first option. Find people with fos in the same source, and try and build it up from there. You'll find your weridos eventually - you just got to sieve though the rest first. You don't have to be best pals with everyone on there but be friendly.

If you recognise a character, why not send an ask? If you have a mutual in mind, why not try and talk with them? Reblog other people's art and moodboards and posts. Doing content trades is a great way to interact with people (and boo if your worried or don't think your content is very good, don't be - we're all evolving here). Also if you can or just like to draw, you can make fanarts for a selfship you like or would like to be your mutual - like I said before, everyone on here just wants to talk about their fos here, all that is needed is a small push first.

With that in mind not everyone you talk to is going to like you, or interact the same way you do. Everyone has a style to themselves and that's ok - the trick is find someone who has the same, or a similar style as you. Even though we are interacting through a screen, remember that there is another person behind that screen; ask them how they're doing, what they're up to, if anything positive happen in their life.

Also be careful about the kinds of people you want to befriend- do they give back what you give first? Do they share your joy? You're bound to find many you click with, just be patient and don't give up - you got this 👍😊👍

Make Friends From All Walks Of The Community -

You'll never know who you're fandom buddy will be - Antis, proships, all are people and all have a different flavour to one another. Its up to you to pick. I've found that to survive here you have to lay roots. No man is an island after all. If you don't agree with a someone's ship or like it doesn't cost much to just be polite. Being considerate and kind to other people's selfships goes a long way round here.

Insecurity

Its pretty easy to feel intimidated by other's success. feeling like their ships are being validated while yours aren't (trust me here - I know what I speak of) but here's what you have to remember: We're all just people daydreaming about fictional characters - No one is better than you and you f/os will always love you!

This is one of the many reasons why building a foundation of fellow weridos is important, its good to have a someone that your able to lean on and vice versa.

But main point here is that no matter what, no one can take away your fos love for you nor your love for them. And if they try, flip them the 🖕 cus we don't give a 🦆

Karma -

I see a few newbies do this where they go onto someone's blog, reblog a game but not send in an ask from that game. If you reblog an ask game off of someone, sent in an ask from that game. Every little helps and it spreads the love around.

Tumblr is not like Instagram, likes are not the currency here. Reblog other people's art and moodboards and posts. Leave a comment in the tags about the things you like or what you felt like when you saw it, send in an ask about their post.

Remember that even though we are interacting through a screen, there is another person behind that screen; Wishing for the same things as you do.

Take Breaks

It can be tiring on here, takes up a lot of energy so taking breaks can be good for you.

It's not like your fos are going to run away the second you turn your back - come away from Tumblr for a bit and reconnect with the outside, touch some grass, take a walk outside for a while. Its can be for as long as you like. I usually find that I like to take these breaks when I have things planned, so like if I'm going somewhere or have a thing planned I generally just try and stay off Tumblr for as long as I can, till I really want to.

If you feel like your abandoning your fos then why not take them with you? what would they say when your outside? How would they react? What would you say back? things like that.

Like with many of my posts, I doubt it will get much attraction. But if one person sees it and it helps them, then that's my dues paid, my contribute made. What is propaganda?

Propaganda is pretty much a way to encourage others to vote for your OC or another person's OC through creating art, writing stories, just talking about them, really just about anything as long as it fits within the rules! Propaganda can also encourage interaction with others, like by drawing your OC with another's. Again, make sure your propaganda resides within the rules!

Be sure to @ this blog when you post your propaganda so I can reblog it! You can even reblog old things you've made for your OC and @ me and I'll count it as propaganda if you'd like!

What if I want to change my photo or update the description?

If you need something changed, you can either DM me or change it yourself. The google form is currently set so that you can go back and edit your submissions if needed.

Child muses (under 13). NPCs are OK, but not children who are the main muse. Any threads with older teens will be strictly platonic.

Shipping / Smutting. No instant smut. Smut may happen in the context of a ship, but it's not the sole intent of this blog.

Shipping needs to be talked about first. Thera is multiship, male-attracted, and we enjoy shipping. But it’s still not going to be an automatic-everybody thing. There’s got to be some sort of IC build up and OOC talk as well, to see how the muses get along and that we're on the same page. If we haven't talked about it OOC, it's not happening.

No means no. On both sides. If I say no to something I expect you to listen. Conversely, if you say no I’m going to take that as final, so if you change your mind later you need to tell me.

Also please do not say yes when you mean no. Just rip off the bandaid, OK?

Interaction Please communicate, please reciprocate. This is a hobby, but it’s a hobby we should both enjoy and it’s not enjoyable when something’s all one-sided. Busy happens, favourites happen, but if I’m doing all the sending and messaging and you don’t do any, especially if you’re active with others, then no hard feelings but I’m going to move along.

Reblogging Memes Please don’t reblog memes or starter lists from me without sending me one. You don't have to send me something, but if you don’t please reblog them from the source instead.

Post length I’m good with any, as long as we’re on the same page. But if I’m doing paras and getting one line back, it makes me wonder if you really want to be doing it at all. If you’re stuck, I’m totally open to waiting, plotting or re-writing.

Verses are separate unless it's been discussed OOC beforehand. Please don't shoehorn Thera into your own existing group verse without talking about it with me first.

Meta-gaming is giving your muse OOC knowledge IC. There are muses out there powerful enough that they could know things, but please talk to me about it first. Your muse suddenly knowing all about Thera for no IC reason and without asking me is not going to work out.

On those last two points, I also reserve the right to say no.

Vague/Guilt-Posting Trying to pressure or guilt me into RPing with you is going to have the opposite effect to what you want. Asking if I saw a post or reminding me once or twice is fine, talking to me directly about a problem, likewise. Messages specifically intended to make me feel bad for not replying/RPing with you are not.

6. excessive ooc

I mean? As long as it's tagged? That's fine with me because I tend to post a lot of ooc posts as well. Though, I guess, my policy is that I clean it up a bit if it's too much. But then again: what is too much ooc posting? What is considered excessive ooc posting? I would say my excess where I draw the line if for 5 straight pages of a blog I don't see any rping at all or any plotting or any headcanons/metas written out. Then again, every person should do what they are comfortable with and not try to please the RPC when it comes to how they operate on their blog when it comes to OOC. I don't follow blogs who only post ooc posts, but I also know that my personal ooc posting during the week can get a bit meh. So, really, it's a case-to-case basis but it's just personal preference for each person, I guess. I block the ooc tag if it's too much for me sometimes? Hm, but yeah, I honestly don't have a big thought about this because it really do be a case to case basis. Some people need ooc to discuss possibilities, to talk about life, to connect with others. But then there is toxic ooc content where there is a lot of guilt tripping and 'woe is me' kind of content. So really, it depends!

12. promos

Promos only work when people reblog the post and not when they like it. That's my stance on it. I think as a collective rpc, we should reblog more promos of each other to spread the word. It's especially true for newer rpers in the rpc. How are they going to gain traction if older rper don't reblog their promos? Honestly, it was an issue for me in the Genshin community when I was starting. However, I also think that those short text promos are fun. Like small and funny ones. Cool and aesthetic-wise are awesome, but those small and funny ones are also pretty darn awesome.

18. shipping

There is a lot to speak about shipping, but I'll cover one of the themes of shipping: progress and asking. In the current day and age of RPC, the collective trauma of many rpers feeling like they're forcing something on another without actually forcing anything should be healed. It speaks to the fact that we are lacking communication, which is a continuous issue with rpc as a whole here and there, especially in some fandoms. I believe it'd be nice to speak more with people about different ships that are platonic, antagonistic, etc. I also think we should be more honest with each other on what kind of ships we see happening between our muses! Just be polite, honest and don't be weird. Like, damn, I want more antagonistic and toxic ships! I want villains to be villains and have those tense and complicated interactions!

I want to give a massive shout out to multimuse blogs! I think multimuse blogs are extremely complicated and hard to manage, which makes everyone who have multimuse blogs are damn SUPERHEROES. Everyone who can handle more than 1 muse is a deity of creativity and I admire every single one of you. Canon or OC, multimuse blogs require the ability to think of different characters insted of just one. I have a hard time doing it, which makes me admire everyone who has multimuse blogs so much.

Sorry it's been quiet here, I've been all over the place, especially with the fact that midterms and my birthday overlap (it was on Saturday, ahahaha,) as well as Canto 7 consuming my spare time. But I've been working on some things in the meantime!

The biggest thing is that I've added and reorganized my verses. I have a lot of new AUs from Discord shenanigans, so with how those are, I now have a section for all the AUs that I share with people. That way, those not in the loop know which ones might require some context from other blogs, or just me explaining ooc.

I've also updated my rules to reflect any new major content warnings those verses require, so please re-read that section if you have sensitivites to certain types of content, just to say safe.

The affected verse has been appropriately labeled at the top of the page, so in case you check it out, I've made sure to give my due diligence. But hopefully, I'll finish the other pages as well. I plan on reblogging my promo and doing a starter/plotting call again as well, just to try to spark things back into action.

canon divergent - daughter of goloris & vivienne

Born to King Goloris and Lady Vivienne. Morgana did not know much of her mother because she died a few years after she was born due to an illness, which often left her in the care of wet nurses anyway.

She lived with her father in Cornwall, where he ruled over the castle, up until he died by enemies of Camelot and due to a poor decision from King Uther. She was rightfully Princess, now Queen of Cornwall, but was never told it as she was too little to understand back then. As such, King Uther took Morgana in as his King’s Ward and she participated in meetings, balls and such as was requested by him.

She never liked that Uther had such a hatred toward magic, so when Morgana discovered her own magic years later, she was so frightened of it that if her half-sister hadn’t found her, she wasn’t sure if she would have ever gained control of it.

One thing was clear however, Uther needed to be stopped and Morgana sought the crown for herself along with her sisters help. Of course she cared about Arthur, son of Uther Pendragon, but she knew that she needed to break off her connections with him so she ended up stepping away from the castle entirely after a siege had gone wrong.

When Morgana found out who Merlin truly was she felt a deep betrayal. If her sister had not come along, he could have at least helped her and yet he chose not to. Instead he had poisoned her, ruining her friendship and whatever she could have had with him entirely. She sought out vengeance, from Merlin who betrayed her and from Arthur who had her throne.

The battle of Camlann approached and Morgana entrusted Mordred to kill Arthur. He succeeded, but in her guilt, as she watched Merlin carry him away, she wished that things could have been different.

So she waited, lingering but keeping her distance from Merlin whom she knew would never trust her again and she mourned the loss of the King and Mordred, but hoped that one day they would all be brought together again.

This wattpad user stole my kinktober day 1 fic with absolutely no credit anywhere on their page. (I'm not sure if they took any others, thankfully they deleted the story literally while I was scrolling through...)

It really sucks when it happens to a fic that doesn't receive much love, too. My fic here has only 118 notes and their's had almost 1000 views. They claimed that they wanted to bring attention to tumblr authors but refused to give any author credits. Okay, sure...

Quite literally anything is better than stealing the story from the author's page and posting it elsewhere with entirely zero credit. Please don't do that to any author. We write these fics because we love to do it, and do it on our own free time with busy schedules. Seeing your hard work stolen just like that is one of the worst feelings in the world.

Please bring it up to any author whose work you think may have been stolen, even if you're not entirely sure.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Introducing...my first Clara x Barnaby art, inspired from the recent Valentine's Day Ball TLSQ. Storybook romance = inspiration from Barbie and Disney Princess promo posters and DVD cases here 😂

I don't know if I will stick to this outfit for the actual quest or change it to Cho's Yule Ball dress instead--I didn't even know about the Cho dress until recently, so I stuck with this dress option for the art. We'll see though.

Regina scoffed. “Of all the harebrained ways to get me into bed-”

“I’m serious. Zelena-”

“What does my sister have to do with it?”

“She was needling me, asking if we’d done it yet. I said we’re taking it slow, and she said I was pathetic and needed a kick in the pants.”

“And?” Regina’s voice was in its lowest, most dangerous register.

“And she cast a spell. If I don’t give you an orgasm by midnight on the full moon, a barrier will go up so you can’t have one until the next full moon.”

“That’s in half an hour!”

“Yeah.”

“And then I’m going to have a magical chastity belt?!”

Emma winced, but nodded.

Regina’s eyes blazed, and it really shouldn’t be so attractive to hear her say, “I’m going to kill her.” But when she pinned Emma with a look in the next moment it was impossibly hotter. “But just in case, you’re going to make me come first.”

Emma didn’t need to be told twice, already dropping to her knees and reaching for Regina’s slacks.
