sleep for ark!

Sometimes you don’t really mind how difficult it is for you to stay asleep. 

It’s routine for you, at this point, to wake up early in the day, either naturally or from a daymare. You’re just not good at sleeping for longer than what is essentially an overgrown nap. Usually you get up and do something before you’re tired enough to go back to bed, but this time, you wouldn’t dare even move-- you’d risk waking up your matesprit asleep in your arms. 

It’s rare to see her peacefully asleep like this at all. She’s a workaholic just like you, obviously apparent from how no place of hers really seems truly free of her work. Her bedroom, which should be somewhere to rest and relax and get away from it all, is actually closer to yet another workspace. At least half of the space is dedicated to a worktable and a wall full of tools, plans, this, that, all sorts of things, and the more extensive projects that you know will be some of his best work one day. 

You like the corkboard, though. It’s well-loved, covered in pictures. Maybe you should get something like that. 

Your mind continues to wander as you wait to drift back asleep, gaze flicking from stray glints of light on metal from between the boards on the window-- that’s kind of weird, but you haven’t bothered to ask, nor do you plan to-- to your beloved. She fits so well cuddled up to you, huh? Right between your horns. You don’t even have to worry about her scratching something on them. 

You recall him saying once that holding him was like trying to cuddle a microwave with all the metal. One of those jokes where the line between ‘joking for fun’ and ‘joking to cope’ gets a little too blurry. You disagree, though.

If anything, you’re more comfortable here with her held close than you could ever be alone.
