hey i love love ypur art and your ocs so much they’re all so cute and i followed ur project from your twitter days, and i follow their spotify playlists! i am their boggest fan haha.. can you tell a little bit more about the worldbuilding your characters lice in, cause i remember you talking about their world surrounding different music concepts?

OMG i’m glad you've followed me and my ocs this far ;;

i can't share a lot about them since i'm still working on them, but i’ll share what i have so far. keep in mind that the information might change

all of my characters are from sona, a music-based planet. there are a total of 7 subspecies of sonancians, and they're named after the music modes and are also based off of musical instruments

IONIANS

ionians of iona are the vocal-based sonancians. not only are they known for their singing, but they are also good at mimicking voices and other sounds, echolocation, and their keen listening (thanks to their big ears)

there are two types of ionians, and that’s:

land ionians,

live in caverns, coves, beaches, rainforests- generally tropical/wet climates

very social

cannot survive in water

and sea-ionians

live in bodies of water, like oceans, lakes, etc

a bit less social

used to be unable to survive outside of water, but now can in modern day

are more likely to have “air asthma”; carries around water inhaler

they are considered “children of sirens” because they easily lure other types of sonancians with their beautiful voices- like the siren animal that’s native to iona

contrary to common myths about sirens, most of them don't lure people in bad faith. they are soothsayers that predict events depending on what sirens sing. they and ionians get bad rep due to other sonancians believing that they CAUSE bad happenings, when in reality the sirens just foresee the future

dym (left) is a sea-ionian and a soprano. dia’s (right) a land-ionian and a contralto (and those are pretty rare!!)

random facts:

ionians like shiny stuff like jewelry. this is because they believe that it can extend their lifespan

they have a lot of medicines, but a common one that they're known for is the ones that help with healing voices

DORIANS

next up are dorians of doro! dorians are the dancers of sonancians, and are known for introducing makeup, masks, and sign language, as they use them to make their dances more interesting. dorians are within the top 3 strongest sonancians since their strength comes from dancing, but they are very protective about their beauty, so they try not to beat people up lol

i’m working on their culture at the moment, but if there was a way to describe it- their culture is full of celebrations/holidays, and festivales

mai is one of the few types of dorian. not exactly sure what type yet, but just know she is idol + gyaru themed and does not wear masks, more of just makeup

random facts:

dorians gift others face masks or any piece of their dancing outfit to show that they love them, platonically or romantically

dorians are more likely to have dancing stims that are uncontrollable. it’s very acceptable to them but to other sonancians it might be odd unfortunately

they do not eat meat!

PHRYGIANS

phrygians of phrygia are the percussion-based type of sonancians! the membranophone type of phrygians especially are within the top 3 strongest sonancians. i don't have their culture down yet, but just know that they have a lot of pride in themselves for their strength, bravery, and stubbornness. they live in hotter climates, like deserts, and HATE being in cold ones. they also like spicy foods!

rocky (left) is a membranophone type phrygian and kodus (right) is an idiophone type phrygian. both are cousins btw. fun fact, rocky, despite being fire-themed, does NOT like some spicy foods, and prefers salty/savory ones. they only eat extremely spicy stuff when they're stressed out though

random facts:

some phrygians break their horns intentionally and wrap them with colored bandages. they are seen as delinquents

they wear piercings and tattoos for competitions they've won in sports, groups they are apart of, and close ones they’ve lost

idiophones have these long tails that are similar to rattlesnakes. it usually rattles in different speeds and rhythms depending on how they feel. rocky used to have this but i've changed it since they're not an idiophone

membranophones shed their skin like lizards

LYDIANS

lydians are string-based and are known to be the tallest type of sonancians- and also the most gentle. lydians are primarily known for their fast growing hair; they also use said hair as strings for their instruments. in modern times, some lydians use serums meant to stop hair growth because of how tedious it is to take care of long hair

random facts:

has whiskers, like cats

lives in the forest, inside trees

some lydians have wings! they're kinda like bugs

lydians do not have fingers, but they can still do stuff like strumming instruments. i don't know how to explain this logic

can have multiple eyes and arms

does not have ears or noses

known for their fantastic agriculture and rare, tasty delicacies

like dorians, they do not eat meat. their diet consists of mostly fruit, but they also have vegetables too

soun (left) is half lydian (guitar type lydian but without the tall height lol). octavia (right) is a cello type lydian- one of the tallest type of lydian- and is 8’8

AEOLIANS

this one is personally one of my favorites. aeolians are woodwind sonancians that mostly live on the clouds of aeolys, but some can live in colder climates, too. they have thick wool, like sheep, to keep themselves warm. because of this, they do not want to be in hotter climates.

you're probably wondering- charee, if aeolians live on clouds, how do they travel from the ground to their homes if they don't have wings? well, aeolians can fly using their horns, made out of special “windwood”. they can also control the weather with those horns as well. think of it as like unicorns- but they don't make things appear or any magical stuff. there are fairytales and myths surrounding the theory of their horns being able to make magic happen though!

fantayza’s some type of aeolian. i think an ocarina, or a panflute

random facts:

aeolians have fluffy eyelashes

in aeolys, time passes by faster

their eyes and horn glow depending on their mood

LOCRIANS

this is also one of my favorites and probably the type of sonancian i would be if i were one

locrians are the brass type of sonancians, where their horns and nails are made out of brass and they make honking sounds. they are in the top 3 strongest sonancians from mining a lot, and are pretty stubborn, like phrygians. they are also known to craft things out of gems, stones, crystals etc, as locri is rich in those types of materials. cool thing about them is they live underground, and their home looks medieval themed

random facts:

their bodies are very flexible. they can extend, twist and turn, and stretch themselves out, inspired by how tubas and stuff look. it almost feels like they don't have bones at all

ionians have a good relationship with locrians for their materials

this is an outdated design; gio is some type of locrian. i have no clue yet but i'm thinking bugle horn right now

MIXOLYDIANS

mixolydians are powered by energy; they're constantly around light and don't necessarily sleep unless there isn't enough light. they're kinda like moths with lights. mixolydians cannot touch water, and produce tears and saliva because it can cause excruciating pain for them. if you're a mix of a mixolydian, the pain is minimal… but you do get hungry easily

speaking of appetite- mixolydians cannot eat regular food. they only eat digital foods converted from energy, so like photosynthesis. as far as the overtourism is concerned, that's the only big “issue” that drives people away. and to be honest, that's great news because… they need to stay away 🗞️🗞️🗞️🗞️🗞️

random facts:

when they cry, they glitch

they can change colors on command. usually used to indicate moods or for camouflaging

their voices are naturally autotuned

their tails have stingers, and it can go from minimal pain to LOTS of pain, depending on their mood. don't anger them

Z (pictured above) is a full mixolydian, and soun is half. as i mentioned before, soun gets the guitar part from lydians, so the other half of him is a sampler. overall, he's electric guitar themed! Z is just synthesizer themed

Dragon Age OC Lineup

Richter (Ricky) Cousland. -> Human. Sword & Board Warrior. He / Him. Bisexy. -> Lawful Good/Stupid to Neutral Good pipeline (still stupid) -> Romance: Morrigan but there was a lil something homosexual happening with Alistair for a bit if i'm not mistaken. In the end pragmatic and probably evil coochie won out sorry brother. -> Meat? There's heft. Really big. but hes like shy about it hes like omg? am i packing 12 inches of uncut beef? whaaat. ermmm. do u still like me? 😳

Ricky is ignorant, naive, a little classist, dumb, self-sacrificing, trusting, loyal, brave, spineless in his beliefs cus he thinks he's stupid, and will trust people in positions of power more often than he should. He likes it when people tell him what to believe cus then he doesn't have to do any hard thinking. This changes a lil bit in that he loses faith in a lot of the institutions around Ferelden and the greater world but he still doesn't like to do any big deep thinking about stuff <3 He's also a deadbeat dad and Idt he knows how to parent Kieran very well lmao. he used 2 be rlly uptight abt his appearance/cleanliness until oggie called him a stupid rich pussy and now hes like eh whatever abt being waist deep in hurlock cunt or whateever

Batman Hawke. -> Human. Mage. Iforget what kinds there r in da2. She/Her. -> Chaotic Neutral to Chaotic Good probably probably but shes reluctant to do "good" shit cus she doesnt really want to deal w ppl being like omg youre ms nice woman cus she's a bit of a self-hating poor who will not examine her freshly minted privilege ): I wouldn't say she's easy to manipulate thru appeal to pathos but if you're annoying enough with your sob story she will probably Consider. -> Romance: all of them like i literall had anders t posing in the back of the hawke estate while isabela and hawke rawdogged in the next room over lmaoaaa....Like canonly id say its like BatmanxFenris and Fenris and Batman are also with Isabela and Isabela is ALSO with Merrill. anders is there. idt batman actually recruited anders i think he got all intense on her and she was like damn lets ball ok but then he got too extreme and she was like dude im literally; strugling to care abt mage rights rn can you put a lid on it and then he was just following her around to mansplain why shes wrong. fair. she learned like nine new slurs from him. -> Meat? Biggest. like so big shes like which staff do u need tonight babygirl 😂😎 heyoooo and then gets left at the hanged man

Batman likes money and having stuff. <3 She likes beaing rich but she's really tacky about it. shes grubby and gross and is like im bringing wolfcuts BACK adn its like a shitty mullet <3 she goes into situations like ok explain why this involves me? and leaves while u r talking about ur missing wife or whatever. real "i dont want to talk abt politics at the table" type of shit shes on. i havent thought too hard about batman hawke but shes like passively suicidal but very cool about it and is 6ft and buff and has huge boobs and huge meat. she wants to be mr steals your girl but goes in for the high five at the worst possible time and doesnt realize shes actually the biggest failgirl of all time. i cant stress this enough she is NOT cool. Kronk of House Trevelyan. -> Another Human. Big Surprise. Rift Mage. -> Lawful Neutral to Lawful Evil pipeline but probably he was always a schemer and a social climber. -> Romance: Josephine and Dorian do not make me choose between them but if I'm being honest I don't know who'd want him. probably he fronts as way more kind and charming than he actually is and i DO think when kronk is loyal to someone he is ferociously so. but it takes a lot like that dude had half the inquisition hate his pussy so bad lmao. -> Meat? Yeah He's Got It but also if Kronk could cease to be a person and become, like, god? he'd do it. then meat wouldnt matter. (hes on some crazy copium) Actually he's thick as hell and chunky and all and is built like a brick wall but im going to be brave and say he's probably not packing a crazy amount like ricky and batman and if they ever found out theyd tease him abt it cus hes such an asshole lol

Kronk does bestieship with Vivienne and would destroy people's lives to see his allies in positions of power. he'd declare himself divine if it was possible. he's a self-hating mage and loves the circle. he doesn't necessarily have Faith in the circle OR in institutions but he wants to make it so they benefit Him and doesnt gaf about if theyre hurting other ppl who aren't in his #crew. (his crew is very small cus most ppl cannot stand this dude btw). he threatens to make ppl tranquil for the fuck of it and follows thru most of the time. he'll lie and cheat to make his way to the top but he wont get his own hands dirty <3 he loves knowledge and learning and power <3 he doesn't actually care abt money but he cares about status cus it will create avenues for him to pursue evil magic or whatever the fuck this dude wants. type of guy whos like yeah world domination sounds fun i could do that then he's in control and hes like FUckckkkkkkkkkkk im so bored. ok public execution time! or something. mostly he's a nihilist and doesnt have faith in his fellow man. he wants all the secrets of magic revealed to him <3 he doesnt like templars but hes like fine whatever we can deal if they wanna keep all other mages (NOT ME) under their thumb. "circles are great but u wont catch ME going back to mine!" type of guy. i resent that inquisition suggested the inquisitor was a huge Hawke fan cus kronk would fucking hate her new money ass. like shes just so stupid about things. ricky hates this dude btw their first meeting would come to blows and i think he was like morrigan can u just blow this dude Uppppppppp and she was like erm no. we cannot blow up the inquisitor and ricky was like farkkkkk ok. i just dropped kieran on his head again btw honey what do i do ):

“Should you really be messing around with this shite?” She asked, wrinkling her nose at one of the ‘experiments’ on the table.

“Don’t touch that!” Dagna called out to her, Sera turning to face her just to roll her eyes. “Okay, so I guess you weren’t going to. Sorry. Habit.” She shrugged a shoulder and grinned and Sera resisted the urge to walk over and kiss her. She was still busy, after all. “Anyway... maybe I shouldn’t but it helps. And it’s good to know how things work!”

“Yeah, but this? No one needs to know how this works.” Sera jerked her thumb over her shoulder, towards the eerie glow of the covered red lyrium. Dagna sighed.

“The Inquisitor does.” She moved past Sera to examine the shard, frowning. “And so do the people who are trying to remove it. How does it work? Will it get into their equipment? It’s a mineral, right, so-”

“You’re so lucky you’re cute,” Sera groused, Dagna turning to grin brightly at her.

“I am, aren’t I?” Dagna shot back, Sera snorting.

“Lucky, or cute?”

“Take your pick!”

“Uh-huh. Like I said, you’re lucky you’re so cute.” She crouched down so she was looking up at Dagna, who smiled much more sincerely and bent forward to kiss her. “Mm,” Sera began as the other woman pulled back. “And a good kisser.” She made a point of looking across Dagna’s body. “There are some other experiments we could try. I promise they’d be more fun than this.”

Dagna laughed, but it was a little uncomfortable. Not about the sex, Sera knew that much. They’d had it. It was good. It was really good. She just... always wanted to finish her work, and Sera was distracting her, and-

Well. She knew the drill.

She levered herself upright with a sigh, stretching. “Yeah, okay, I’ll see myself out. But it’s just...” She glanced back towards the glow with a frown. “Seriously, don’t touch that. I don’t care about knowledge, I care about you. I don’t want you getting all gunked up with red lyrium.” She grinned, although it felt a little shaky. “You’re cute as you are, but I don’t think awful shards stickin’ out of you would really do it for me.”

“Sera...” She shook her head, trying to cut off Dagna’s lecture before it started.

“It’s fine. I get it. I do. It’s important. But it’s scary, too, yeah? I mean... it gets into everything. Rocks. People! I don’t want it getting into you. Changing you, making you...” She shivered, wrapping her arms around herself. What the Inquisitor and Dorian had told her about that fuck-off awful future, about the lyrium growing out of people. How would it start? Just a single tiny little flake making its way into you, and then what? Would they become strong and weird, all twisted up like the red templars? How much did it take? How long did it take? Would she have to start watching Dagna, make sure there wasn’t some red glow deep in her pretty eyes, that she wasn’t getting short-tempered and distant, that-

Fuck. She couldn’t do this. She couldn’t bear to think of her getting all messed up on a tiny shard of lyrium. A flake. Hell, if that’s all it took, she might have it in herself already. She gripped her arms tighter, nails digging in, remembering the nothing she’d seen in the Fade. Was that why it was her fear? Because nothing was growing in her, because a tiny shard she’d inhaled once was taking her over, or-

Shit. Fucking shit.

She didn’t want to think about this. She didn’t want to reflect on how little it’d take to destroy her, to destroy Dagna, to destroy the whole world. “Just... be careful, yeah?” She muttered as she headed for the door out of the undercroft. She vaguely heard Dagna call out an affirmation as she let the door shut behind her, scrubbing at her face - then wiping her hands frantically against her shirt before scrubbing at her face again, worried she might’ve gotten some of the fucking lyrium on her.

13 Books Tag Game

1) The last book I read:

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros - I absolutely devoured this sequel, omg. Obviously it’s nothing fancy or anything like that but hey what’s wrong with a smutty YA? Not to mention DRAGONS

2) A book I recommend:

Perfume by Patrick Süskind - when I read it I had no idea it was a whole entire modern classic, I just picked it up at Oxfam for like 3 for £1 or something but, wow, I can 100% understand how it earned that status! If you like an eery not-too-long horror story with the most beautiful imagery describing some fucked up gothic storylines and a lot of social commentary, you’ll love this book!

3) A book that I couldn’t put down:

Ahhh ok, im gonna say In Memoriam by Alice Winn. The ending was… idk I wasn’t really a fan of the ending, I thought it kind of disengaged and took away from the struggles and severity of war and sexuality the rest of the book portrayed but until that point the rest of the story was everythingggg, there’s a sweet forbidden romance/coming of age/found family in the 1910’s propelling into a story of the horror of WW1 and losing everything you know. All I can really say is that I read it all in one go (more or less) and it had me laughing and sobbing throughout

4) A book I’ve read twice (or more):

I mean… there’s an obvious choice here - The Picture Of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. HOWEVER I’m going to absolutely cheat and also say Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, the drama, the trauma, the vast majority of these characters are awful and I love it 🤌🤌

5) A book on my TBR:

So many… so so many… I’m gonna say House Of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski tho because it was expensive and it’s cool looking and I’ve actually been meaning to read that for a while but boy howdy it’s huge

6) A book I’ve put down:

The Tale Of The Body Thief by Anne Rice UGHH I’m trying so hard!! It’s so many words with so little going on, and I do enjoy it, I really do, it’s so goofy, but it’s so.. i mean verbose isn’t really quite the right word but you know what I mean. Sorry mutuals :( I just need a break to read something short and silly - which I’ve almost finished the little series I’m currently reading

7) A book on my wish list:

Prophet Song by Paul Lynch - it sounds absolutely soul crushing and miserable, I know this completely contradicts what I just said about being in the mood for a silly read but <333

8) A favorite book from childhood:

Omg 10000x the Skulduggery Pleasant series by Derek Landy, guys you don’t understand, as much as I would love to talk about how my mum and I used to sit and read Anne Of Green Gables before bed or my Enid Blyton obsession when I was like 6, Skulduggery Pleasant was my absolute jam - I must’ve read that series (the original 9 + spin offs) a million times in primary school. I did keep up with phase 2 when that was coming out but I don’t know if I’ll bother with phase 3, I’m just too old now and phase 2 wasn’t all that imo - I think it’s sort of beating a dead horse at this point :( but the original 9 and Maleficent Seven/Armageddon Outta Here were my childhood and I definitely absorbed Valkyrie Cain into my identity as a child so that series probably shaped a big part of who I am and my hobbies as an adult

9) A book you would give to a friend:

Love On The Brain by Ali Hazelwood. Silly, nerdy, fun, a cute little Pride and Prejudice-esque enemies to lovers feat. women in STEM

10) A book of poetry or lyrics that you own:

Ok so anyone who’s seen my other poetry blog @apoemadaykeepsthehoesaway knows my obsession with The Complete Poems of Wilfred Owen (I have a lot of difference versions) AHHH by far my favourite poet - as you can imagine with such a young man, you can clearly see his changing mentalities, his growth as a person and a writer, his influences, and really gather a lot of context for what’s going on with him in general through his poems. And he grew up in all the same areas I grew up in and hung around as a kid/younger teen, which I think adds to my personal interest in him too. Idk ig we’re very close friends on a parasocial level lol.

And ofc there really aren’t that many poets around that give such visceral, truthful, and emotional insights to the First World War as Owen does (also a queer icon). He was my intro to war literature and I have tattoos relating to him, he and his work are just incredible to read about, would highly recommend having a look at Siegfried Sassoon’s war poems too; another very blunt poet who was a celebrity and war protestor at the time and happened to mentor Wilfred Owen, as well as being linked with other influential folks of the time such as Robbie Ross, Stephen Tennant, Rupert Brooke, and Ivor Novello. Ok Ill move on :,)

11) A nonfiction book you own:

Surprisingly I quite like nonfiction, mainly history and essays from philosophers and the like. Speaking of, Friedrich Nietzsche’s Beyond Good And Evil is a pretty solid one I own, I’ve never read anything where the author begins by calling himself and all his coworkers socially inept incels 🥹 but even though I don’t remember the specific reason I bought it (I was reading it to argue against some other philosophers in an essay in college and I really don’t remember who or what it was) I remember it being a really interesting read

Or yknow in a more traditional sense of non-fiction, I also have Notes On A Nervous Planet by Matt Haig. Really helped me get through some stuff, if you’re struggling with anxiety or feeling a bit down lately I’d very much recommend

12) What are you currently reading:

Omg ok, The Hitchhiker Trilogy by Douglas Adams, I’m currently on book 3 of 5 - Life, The Universe, And Everything. Really silly and nonsensical space bs but somehow also a bleakly satirical social commentary on the unseriousness of our ‘serious’ world. Really enjoyable, fairly political to some degree, really short (around or less than 200 pages a book), really fun. Martin Freeman truly was the perfect casting for Arthur Dent in the film of the first book. Full of that quintessentially British cynical humour and of course plenty of cups of tea

To give a little preview, the second book literally opens “The story so far: In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

13) What are you planning on reading next?

Books 4 and 5 of The Hitchhiker Trilogy, and then I suppose I had better carry on reading The Tale Of The Body Thief :D

Okay I get your disbelief. But I'm looking forward to LBAF v the most because I interact w you almost everyday and malec and all their babies and grandbabies live in my mind rent free.

And kudos to Rafael and Achilles for all the wonderful work they've done. In my mind they're both kinda similar bc we don't really know much about Achilles but I'm very excited to find out. I'm even more excited too see Kincaid's storyline and read his pov for the same reason that you mentioned. Reading lbaf iv kinda reminded me of reading quaad. No matter how many things get better, the Clave still has a long way to go and all we can hope is that for every Kyle there is a Max just like for every Zara there is an Alec (I hope that makes sense).

Ugh I was hoping Dorian was alive. But i already love Aticus. But Chairman is still alive right?

Also good luck completing your report. I hope you find the time to relax and explore the city and meet new people too!

Final thoughts? I liked it! I think I liked Heir of Fire ever so slightly more, since we were just getting introduced to Rowan and the world of magic and stuff - so it wasn’t as annoying as the will/they won’t/they plot that went on in this book. SJM really knows how to draw it out, yikes.

I know. I KNOW. It’s not all about the romance. There’s a larger overarching story here too. I DID appreciate the story of this one, but it also sucked, because Dorian broke my damn heart every single time he was on screen. I want to see him heal from his sadness and sorrow and trauma, I think, personally I’m drawn to continue reading this series specifically so I can learn more about whatever’s next for him.

Loved all the badass lady characters in this one, endured the story (which dragged in quite a few places), and I’m still struggling through a dry spell when it comes to romance.

I will be spending several hours on a plane tomorrow. This is where I wish I had some self-control and didn't read everything the minute it's posted. I will definitely be finishing Beskar Doll. I'm soooo sorry it's taken me forever. Don't get me wrong I love Din but he definitely takes a back seat to Joel.

Anyways, back to the point of my ask before I started rambling. By the time I board tomorrow I will have finished all of my ARC reads and my TBR is way too overwhelming to even know where to begin. So I'm wondering if you have any book recs? If you have any fic recs that are long enough to keep me occupied most of the trip I will take those too.

As for book recs, I’ve been really into Taylor Jenkins-Reid this year. I read Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo in a day and Daisy Jones and the Six in two, I just couldn’t put them down! I’m also a sucker for anything by Gillian Flynn, Sharp Objects in particular. I read Corinne by Rebecca Morrow in like a day, too. Also really good, about a woman finding herself as she leaves a borderline cult religious group.

Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk is another favorite. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, Neverwhere (also Neil Gaiman), Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde. Loathe as I am to suggest Rowling to anybody but the first few books of her Cormoran Strike series (under the pen name Robert Galbraith) are great if you can get a ✨free✨ download to not spend any money because fuck that woman (I haven’t read the last few because fuck that woman and also apparently no one reels her in during editing anymore and the recent ones reportedly sucked.) If you are/were a Twilight girlie, Stephenie Meyer’s The Chemist (it’s a thriller for adults) is somewhat addictive!

For non-fiction, the Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama was a fascinating read, especially in the context of a post-insurrection world. Anything by Jon Krakauer - Missoula in particular but I also did a huge paper for a capstone project in college on SA so grain of salt and all the trigger warnings. I also go through phases of being really into random historical things and I read a fascinating book on Chernobyl a few years ago that I think about often (Chernobyl by Serhii Plokhy). Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich made me want to become a journalist and I adored Waiting: True Confessions of a Waitress by Debra Ginsberg. Candy Girl by Diablo Cody was also great.

It’s definitely accidental. Fearne is putting it up because Imogen mentioned “having” to kiss under it as a tradition. So the faun thought it held some fey magic to make people kiss and she wanted to see it.

Ashton is telling Dorian that this would be a good chance to kiss a certain someone, causing the air genasi to get all kinds of flustered. They then hear your voice pipe up, greeting them from inside the room that they’re making their way to.

You come over to greet them, Ashton’s eyes drifting up to the top of the doorframe. They quickly push Dorian forward, causing the air genasi to accidentally bump into you, his arms quickly coming up to catch you.

“I am so sorry,” Dorian is apologizing to you but stops as there are “oohs” and “ahhs” around. He looks behind you to see the girls giggling while Orym is giving him a knowing smile. He then looks back to Ashton, who is pointing up. Dorian follows the gaze and his eyes see the mistletoe that is hanging above the two of you.

“W- We don’t have to kiss or anything...” Dorian quickly says as he looks to you, his hands still holding you to keep you steady despite you both standing just fine. You smile at him.

“But the fey magic, Dorian.” The air genasi would roll his eyes in other circumstances but this time he just blushes before taking a deep breath. He leans in to give you a kiss, stopping halfway as he doesn’t want to push it.

That’s when you connect with him. His face is a nice purple now and there’s cheers from the others. Dorian suddenly understood the sparks that all the cheesy romance novels he lied about not liking mentioned.

The two of you pulled away and Dorian realized all the eyes on the two of you. He stepped back from you, almost bumping into Ashton, as his eyes avoided yours. “Uh, m- maybe we should... uh-”

“We could use some more drinks, if you two don’t mind going down to get some?” Orym had piped up to give you two some time together. Dorian gave the halfling a thankful smile as he took that and ran with it.

“Sure thing! Let’s go!” He went to grab your hand, stopping and looking to you for permission. You easily slipped your hand in his and he led you downstairs to the main tavern area. Except instead of getting drinks, you two decided to step outside instead. There might not have been mistletoe, but that didn’t stop the two of you from stealing more sweet kisses from the other.
