rules: the first line of your last ten (posted) fics and see if there’s a pattern.
my most adorably talented @oneforthemunny tagged me in the writing patterns tag game but i do not have more than 10 fics so i'm tweaking the rules a bit and doing my last 10 chapters of my eddie munson fic small town
On Eddie’s 20th birthday it rained cats and dogs. (from chapter 16 - let's hear it for the boy)
Dorothy Burke couldn’t remember being this fucking angry in her entire goddamn life. (from chapter 17 - girls just want to have fun)
As soon as one Eddie Munson rang the doorbell on that overcast Saturday afternoon, Auntie Rachel and Aunt Mary Elizabeth immediately perked up. (from chapter 18 - i know there's something going on)
Finals week in Hawkins High was going pretty well or terribly wrong depending on who you asked. (from chapter 19 - we built this city)
Dottie was pacing like a nervous dog in a cage, feet hitting the soft rug in front of her closet with each step she took. (from chapter 20 - self control)
Wayne Munson had given up a lot for his nephew. (from chapter 21 - far from over)
On Thursday afternoon, Eddie Munson made the mistake of not telling Dottie Burke - his girlfriend that wasn’t actually his girlfriend because he hadn’t asked her out yet - why he couldn’t drive his friends to Donny’s family restaurant for dinner before prom. (from chapter 22 - let's dance)
The last Monday before graduation was Kyle Foster’s most anticipated day of the year; not because it meant that school attendance was officially an afterthought for most of the school’s population, but because it was the day the overpriced yearbooks he had been working on all these months were ready to be picked up, their pages waiting to be filled with doodles in colorful pens and silly stickers. (from chapter 23 - cum on feel the noize)
Wayne Munson had walked the halls of Hawkins High School several times throughout recent years courtesy of his nephew’s misbehaving, but never making it past Principal Higgins’ office was turning out to be a problem. (from chapter 24 - up where we belong)
“There! I see them, park here!” (from chapter 25 - part-time lover)
i really thought i'd have more dialogue as opening lines but maybe that was in earlier chapters! also the kyle foster mention was fun, random ass oc that i invented so eddie could have beef with someone that wasn't the jocks lmao
tagging @justahappycloud and @duquesademiel because these two are FANTASTIC writers who are much more prolific than me and are sure to have fun answers for this!

Damn shame they've deactivated, they make EXTREMELY good points. My boifriend is either just starting their transition or will be before the end of the year (life keeping us from communicating directly until late next month, so not sure where they are on that timeline just yet) and I worry that they're going to encounter all these problems and more.
From the trans-femme angle, I comPLETELY understand OPs point. I've gotten to the point where I'm no longer triggered by pink and can even wear it in limited quantities, but to get there I needed to go through a very torturous round of self-induced exposure therapy. I had a few flashbacks to being abused (emotionally and psychologically for sure, likely physically, too) by my stepmother when she discovered that she could humiliate me. She was what we now call a TERF, and she recognized in me signs that I was trans and actively worked to alienate me from anything that could help me understand what I was while using it to belittle me. I wanted to be my sister's sister, so she got my sister all the girly toys I wanted and got me all the stereotypical masculine toys you could imagine. I was too young and too ignorant to know why seeing my sister get a whole truckload of toys she didn't even want and I shouldn't want but did anyway.
The final straw for me, the thing that traumatized me so badly I'd get flashbacks in my 40s just wearing pink, was she got me a guy's suit; slacks, penny-loafers, button down shirt, cardigan, and even matching socks. They were, every single last article of clothing, all pink AF. And not even a subtle pink, we're talking Barbie pink. No mistaking this outfit for "salmon" whatsoever.
I was made to wear them for post-Christmas (yes, this thing was a "christmas present") pictures and after that stuck them in the darkest recesses of the back of my closet. My step-mother asked why I didn't want to wear the "nice suit" she got me. I told her it was an outfit for girls and it'd get me teased at best and beat up at worst. She replied, and this is burned into my memory, "...but that's a man's suit. Nobody could possibly mistake it for girl's clothes."
I knew she was lying. I knew it so firmly that I swore that someday I'd find a way to prove her wrong. (This was back when I was young and stupid enough to believe evidence could make someone change their mind or at least recant their statement...hahahahahaha 😢) Much drama and a stint in the foster system later, and I had my chance to prove it.
While in the foster home (nice enough folks, a bit homophobic but I think that was just because it was the 80s and not because they'd ever met a queer person, even with my not-as-subtle-as-I-thought-I-was-being gender issues, they treated me well), the high school I was attending had Spirit Week, and it was A Thing That Happened that schools condoned horrible parodies of transgender/drag that constituted a teenager's understanding of the concept by having a "crossdresser day." I grabbed the set of clothes from my stepmother's place (social services thought weekly visitation was a good idea for Reasons™️ which are for another post) and snuck them to school and changed in the bathroom. I figured if step-mother was right, I'd just be mistaken for being a little overdressed. If I was right, I'd be pegged as a "crossdresser" in a New York minute.
I didn't make it 5 steps from the stall I changed in before someone complimented me on my outfit for the day's theme. Nobody thought they were men's clothes. There weren't even second thoughts. When the school photographer gathered everyone who'd participated to get a group photo, they knew it would be printed in black and white in the yearbook and STILL nobody would question how girly the outfit was.
I think that was when I realized that my stepmother was actually trying to get me hurt or killed, as long as it could be done publicly and out of her sight, she didn't care.
Decades later when I started transitioning and wearing women's clothes, I decided to be daring and buy an all-pink suit. I got a queezy feeling, but was convinced if I just sucked it up and wore it I'd be okay. My step-mother was either dead or dying of cancer and I had fully embraced my true self, what could go wrong?
Halfway through my shift I needed to get off the phones and use one of the "stress rooms" most call centers have these days.
Nowadays I will wear pink. (The pants I'm currently wearing as I type this are a remarkably bold shade of pink, in fact.) But I can't wear a lot of it or I still get the shakes.
Why do I have to explain to some people that I have trauma involving the color pink before they’ll stop poking me about why I don’t like it

[requested]
yandere will byers
word count: 1213
this is the letter referenced throughout the story
Dear My Loveliest Y/n,
I really love you so much Y/n, I really do. And you always look so, so pretty, my love. I wish I could just kiss you forever and ever and ever and ever. You make me feel so many things, things that even words can't begin to describe. Please Y/n, let me love you, let me be your servant, your slave. And all of this is in the name of love, our love. Because that's what makes me feel so alive. You make me feel alive, in so many more ways than one. You're all I can think about. And I only want to think about you. It's always you. Every dream is about you. Every thought is about you. I love you. I love you. I love you.
Love, your one and only,
Will Byers
It was the last day of school, and you were gathering all your things from your locker, just like everybody else. Things were messy and chaotic already but the added rush of everyone wanting the signatures of their friends on their yearbooks made leaving so much harder. And you just want to leave, to be home and not think about high school, and to forget about Will.
Now, Will was nice and all but he creeped you out, in more ways than one. For example, for a school project about heroes, famous heroes, by the way, Will choose you. And when he was explaining why he choose you, well it didn't exactly give you butterflies.
"They're just so beautiful and everyone should know who they really are. Because I would do anything for them, anything. They are worth the gratification of many, and all… The whole world should know who Y/n L/n is…"
And the whole time he was looking at you. Deadeye contact, unwavering and unmoving until he was gently ushered by the teacher telling him to sit down. The whole class was silent from then on, and you were… well you were unsettled, to say the least. And it only got worse from there.
The next thing to start happening was love letters. They were nice at first, always starting off with,
'Dear My Loveliest Y/n,'
And of course, you kept on reading them. How could you not when they made you feel so…special. As if you were worth something so much more than words could describe. But then things took a turn, and the once cute letters turned red.
'I really love you so much Y/n, I really do.'
And the letters really did scare you,
'And you always look so, so pretty, my love.'
-because they just kept on coming.
'I wish I could just kiss you forever and ever and ever and ever.'
And it didn't stop there, not once did he forget.
'You make me feel so many things, things that even words can't begin to describe.'
And you kept on ignoring them. Time after time, you took the letters and threw them away. And maybe that was your first mistake, ignoring him. Because ignoring the problem only makes it bigger.
So to say that you were happy about the end of the school year would be the biggest understatement. You were finally going to be free from all the letters, the staring, and the following. You were finally going to feel, be alone.
"Y/n!"
Shit.
"would you sign my yearbook?"
You turned around and there he was. Will Byers standing three feet behind you, blank yearbook in hand with a desperate sparkle in his eyes looking at you. 'This will be the last time you see him, so just get it over with.'
"Yeah, sure." And with that, he eagerly gave you one of his pens to sign your name with.
As you signed your name you could feel his eyes fixed intently on you, and they were burning holes into your skull, you could feel it. You were uncomfortable, but you just kept on thinking that after this, he'd be gone, forever.
"There you go, all done."
"T-Thank you… Y/n" Will managed to squeak out while still looking at you, his eyes steady and focused. You held out his pen to give back, but he didn't seem to notice it anymore.
"Wi-"
"Yes, Y/n."
"Your pen." You moved your hand forward indicating the one that still ties you to this unwanted interaction.
"Oh yeah," he said slowly reaching for the pen, purposefully brushing his hand against yours as he took it into his hands. You immediately turned away, ready for this day to be over, and ready to head home.
But Will, Will just stood there, looking back and forth at the pen that had your touch and your body that was walking away from his. He took a few steps forward, gripping both his pen and his blessed yearbook tightly in his hands. 'I can't lose them.'
Walking forward he kept his eyes solely focused on you, watching as you exited the school, while he stayed back a few feet, so he wouldn't get caught. 'Were you going home?' Was this his chance to convince you, to tell you that he loved you?
'Please Y/n, let me love you, let me be your servant, your slave.'
Will looked down at his yearbook and decided to follow you home. To your home, to his home. He watched you get on your bike and waited a painfully long three seconds before getting on his own, trailing behind you ever so quietly. 'This is our time. My time'
'And all of this is in the name of love, our love. Because that's what makes me feel so alive. You make me feel, alive in so many more ways than one.'
You rode your bike home enjoying the fresh air of the summer, not forgetting to admire the beautiful landscape as well. And something inside you told you, that this was going to be the best summer ever.
'You're all I can think about. And I only want to think about you.'
You got home, put away your bike, and went inside to relax, leaving your backpack by the back door.
'It's always you.'
You decided to go upstairs, to your room, to listen to some music. You popped in a disc turning it up all the way. No one was home anyway, so no one was able to complain about the loud music coming from your bedroom.
'Every dream is about you. Every thought is about you.'
After one song, you heard something coming from downstairs, and you knew your parents wouldn't be home at this time. 'Was this an intruder? A robber?' Shaking, you gained the courage to take a peek out of your doorway, hoping that you wouldn't get killed.
'Well, no ones up here.' You thought as you stood up a little bit taller. You walked out and made your way to the stairs. 'Time to check out the rest of the house.' You made your way to the bottom of the stairs scouting out your surroundings before continuing onward.
Once you thought it was okay to move on you made your way into the kitchen, moving extra stealthily. Looking over everything you checked if they were in their rightful places since this morning. 'Coast is clear.' You took a breath of relief and turned around heading back upstairs.
'I love you. I love you. I love you.'
And Will thanked you silently in his mind, as he stalked forward, quietly behind you, with a metal pan in both of his hands.
"Forgive me, Y/n." He muttered quickly and quietly, under his breath, as he struck you in the back of your head, knocking you out completely.
And he watched as you fell instantly to the ground. He moved slowly to your body, and kneeled, his upper half hovering over yours. His eyes scanned your every feature slowly and carefully.
"You look so pretty close up… Prettier than all my dreams combined." He whispered to himself as he caressed your face, admiring your pretty lips.
'Love, your one and only,
Will Byers'

"trust I seek and I find in you, every day for us something new, open mind for a different view and nothing else matters."
♡ character: eddie munson
♡ pronouns used: she / her
♡ note: not checked for grammar or spelling mistakes
"and all that's left is the Hellfire club and the chess team," all of you looked at each other before knowing that none of you wanted to be around the chess team, "great, who's the club leader!" your classmate asked as she scanned the yearbook.
"it's eddie munson, i think he's their dungeon master?" you replied not really confident on DnD verbiage. they groaned in annoyance before they all started pointing at each other, screaming that they would be interviewing him, "enough! first of all, stop being a bunch of assholes. if none of you want to do it, i have no problem covering it. i have eddie in a class of mine just stop being jerks," you replied.
your co-editor, Melissa, shook her head in disbelief.
"you wanna interview that freak? i mean i get you got into indiana but isn't that a little extreme? it's eddie munson for crying out loud. he's not that pleasant to be around."
you rolled your eyes.
"and when have you spoken to him? because it seems like you're only judging him based on stupid rumors and you're no stranger to unwanted talks around the school," you replied giving her a stern look. she looked down knowing she had no rebuttal, "anyone else wanna try it? jessica? keith?"
the two others didn't reply, "thought so. that being said, since i'm covering the main story again this month, melissa you're covering the swim team, jessica is on the opinion piece, and keith you're doing confessions and advice," they all nodded in agreement.
you zipped up your backpack indicating that the meeting was over. melissa slapped your back, "maybe interviewing that freak won't be so bad! i mean, he has some friends," she said. "listen, i'm not going to judge someone i don't know. eddie has never caused an issue for me and i won't let rumors that jason spreads get into my head. you want to go off assumptions? be my guest."
melissa shook her head, "i'm not assuming anything but come on! he's on his second year of senior year, plays that god awful guitar, and has freshman as friends. it's pretty clear he's lame or at least a loner," you slammed your locker door, "melissa, if you're going to continue to talk about someone, maybe it's best if you don't stay apart of the newspaper team. having a bias in journalism is the number one rule of never being a good reporter."
with that, you left towards the room where the Hellfire club was located. you knew you had to set up a few times to actually sit down with eddie and get the details for it. your brother played DnD on his free time and whenever he explained it to you, it sounded like rocket science.
you knocked on the door hoping they could hear you over the loud metal music but once it was clear that they weren't going to answer, you opened the door and saw eddie at the table fixing a board. you gave him a small wave surprising him. he quickly turned down the music.
"how can i help ya?" he asked excitedly. you laughed, "i was wondering if i could interview you for the Hawkins Gazette! we've been covering all the clubs at the school and we realized that the Hellfire Club was next on the list!" you replied.
eddie was genuinely shocked to hear that you guys were wanting to cover him and his table-top club, "really? we're usually left out of that kind of stuff," you shook your head, "yeah, our editor in chief last year was a pain in the ass but don't worry, as senior editor, i made sure we covered all the clubs and teams here," you explained.
before eddie could say anything, a bunch of kids ran into the room, "well, i can get all the info tomorrow in class? i can see the meeting is about to start," you said excusing yourself. eddie agreed but it didn't go unnoticed by dustin on how he was staring at you.
you yawned the next morning as you opened the curtains of your room. you were beyond happy that it was friday and there was only two months left of school. you pulled on your academic varsity jacket and worn out jeans before deciding that you'd stop at the gas station near the school to get breakfast.
after you brushed your teeth and told your mom a quick goodbye, you got into your car and rushed out of your apartment complex. the spanish music blaring from your car stereo had you in a much better mood considering you weren't having to hear Blondie for the 900th time.
you quickly made your coffee and grabbed a few breakfast bars from the stand outside before slapping money on the counter and booking it to school. you liked to be there at least an hour before classes started so you could work on a few things.
"you're going to get over caffeinated one day," you heard a familiar voice say behind you. you chuckled realizing it was eddie, "if it hasn't happened already, i don't think it ever will," you replied. eddie started walking next to you.
you could sense the stares you were getting from a few kids and even teachers but you weren't going to let it affect you. eddie seemed like a sweetheart so far and you couldn't help but wonder why the rumors about eddie were so heated.
"so, you wanna interview the dungeons and dragons club, huh?" he asked. you nodded as you pulled out your notebook, "i was wondering if we could set up a few days in the next few weeks to actually give me all the information i need. i know the game is hard and i want to be as accurate as possible."
eddie nodded almost immediately as he took the blanket off the table and presented you the tabletop game.
"it'll be an honor," you smiled at him, "great! we can meet after school, weekends, even before school! i'm pretty much free whenever!" eddie tapped his chin dramatizing his thinking face, "i guess i could make some room!" he exclaimed.
you threw him the plastic wrapper as retaliation which he quickly dodged, "how about this weekend?" eddie said, "we can cover basic rules over and stuff at my trailer?" you nodded as he slipped in the time and his address into your notebook.
before you could look at the time, you heard the warning bell go off. you gave eddie a quick goodbye before darting off to class. you had never been late to class in all four years of high school and you weren't going to start now.
your first class of the day was advanced history and it was a subject you loved learning about. you wouldn't see eddie until fourth period where both of you were stuck in the easiest math course offered to seniors. you were barely passing the class and you dreaded every day going to it.
the rest of the day went by, classes boring you half to death until you were called into your newspaper club room by your advisor. you saw the saddened look on her face. "what's going on?" you quickly asked. she gave you an envelope with the confidential stamp on it, "i thought it was best you hear it first before the rest do," she whispered. you nodded and opened the letter.
due to budget cuts for the following year, those apart of the newspaper, robotics, chess, creative arts, recreational swim, and floor hockey teams will no longer be active come May and following into next year. hawkin's high school hates to see such important clubs go but we can safely assume that all of your students understand. please rely this information to all of your clubs as soon as possible and turn in any uniforms that might have been issued to your teams or clubs.
your eyes widened, "so you're saying this is the final paper to come out? what about all of the positions we voted for? Hawkin's can't just get rid of the newspaper! it can't happen," you said slamming the paper down. your teach nodded sympathetically, "I know but we can't do much about this. they need money for the cheer team to go to state and the football team needs to upgrade the field they use."
you gave her one final look before walking out the door and storming to the administrative office. you noticed eddie waving down your attention but you saw that your principal was standing outside of the office doors.
"are you insane! you're getting rid of half of the extra curricular clubs after this month to give to the freaking football team!" you screamed. you had caught the attention of everyone in the hall, including eddie, "you cut the budget for a team that doesn't even get to regionals!" your principal put his hand on your shoulder, "listen, it was a hard decision but we're sure the team will be champions next year. we appreciate what all of you do but some clubs just need the extra money," he replied.
you screamed as eddie immediately ran towards you.
"some clubs! just some?! you cut off the fucking newspaper, robotics, chess, creative arts, floor hockey and recreational swim! those are half of the clubs here not just some! you will be hearing from us at the next school board meeting!" your principal tried to get you to quiet down but you were too fired up to listen, "there's no going back on it, ( your name). we voted on the decision last month and made it final. now can you please lower your voice."
eddie could see you were about to pop once again and grabbed you by the shoulder, "no! we won't stand for it! so you're insinuating that journalism is less important than football? are you insane!" you screamed as you could tell that you were crying by now, "let me go eddie! listen principal aichner, you know we're the better club!" you yelled.
he quickly grabbed you and dragged you away from the scene as your principal just walked back inside of the office. you let out another yell as you slammed your arms onto the concrete wall. eddie grabbed them to get you to stop, "relax! breathe with me! you're going to give yourself a fucking panic attack," he stated as he stared at you deepily.
you nodded, following his breathing pattern and trying to get your mind together again. he let out a few calming breaths and held onto your arms until he felt he was safe to do so.
"it's not fucking fair eddie. we work so hard for this damn newspaper and it gets taken away because the football team is seen as more important? we actually contribute to something here! it's just not fair!" you yelled, "you guys are the last one to get covered for the rest of eternity and i can't believe we won't even get a farewell edition. this is such bullshit!"
eddie nodded as you let yourself fall into his arms. you hadn't even known eddie for an entire day yet but it felt like he was the only one with common sense at the moment, "i know but you tried your hardest to get him to back out. i know how much this newspaper means to you," you sobbed into his shoulder, not knowing what to say or do.
you didn't know how long you were in the room with eddie but when you finally looked at the time, you noticed it was nearing lunch and your face was all red and puffy. the little bit of makeup you had on was smeared and you were in no mood to be in front of everyone looking like this.
"listen, if you want to just not cover us for this last edition of the paper, i understand," eddie said. you shook your head no, "no, you guys deserve your time on the paper and no matter how anyone feels you guys are on the cover. i just need time. i'll see you tomorrow for the first interview? i'm going home to get myself together. i can't be around anyone at this damn school right now."
eddie wanted to stop you but he knew there was no point. you were so far into your own head at the moment that it seemed like you needed the time to yourself. he stood inside of the empty classroom and reflected on the situation. eddie knew there was nothing he could do but he so badly wanted to go to principal aichner to get him to change his mind.
+
the entire night you stayed in bed not wanting to talk to anyone or anything. your mom had went up to check on you every few hours but she could sense you were in no mood to deal with her advice. she heard from your advisor about the news and knew the mood you were coming home with.
around midnight, you heard a call from the phone in your room. you found it odd considering you never gave your number out to anyone and the ones you did would never be calling so late at night. you went to the phone and pulling up the antenna.
"hello? can i ask who's calling?" you asked, your voice sounding very rough, "( your name )? it's eddie. eddie munson." you perked up when you heard him say his name, "what happened, eddie? it's midnight," you asked.
"i know it's late but i got worried about you. you seemed so upset earlier that i wanted to make sure you were okay. how are you holding up?" he asked. you sighed in disbelief, "im just upset eddie. we work so hard for out club just to get cut because the cheer and football team need the money. we bring home more medals than they do. it's just not fair!" you continued.
eddie agreed knowing it was best to let you just vent for the moment. by the time you finished talking, you were going on minute ten, "sorry eddie, i know i'm just dropping all of this on you but hey, at least Hellfire is on the last issue ever," you tried joking.
"you really could pick someone else if you want, no hard feelings," you cut him off, "nope! listen to me munson, we want Hellfire to be featured no questions asked," you replied. eddie laughed as he twirled the extension cord, "this might be weird to ask but the mcdonalds up the road by my house is open. would you like to catch some disgusting food right now?"
"uh, sure? i can drive there right now if you'd like," you said, trying to contain your bubbling up excitement, "yeah, sounds good. my address is on that scrap piece of notebook so you'll pass the mcdonalds on your way here," he said.
you hung up the phone, changing into a sweater and sweatpants before sneaking out the window. you slipped into your car, hoping your mom wouldn't sense that you left.
the address eddie had given you left you in a part of town you hardly went into. it was a beat up part of town but when you saw the mcdonalds and eddie standing outside the door, you pulled into the parking lot, checking your hair one final time before turning off the car and locking it.
"hey," you whispered as you felt the breeze of the indiana cold, "hey, up for some fries?" he asked. you nodded as the two of you walked inside and ordered both of yourselves a meal. you two realized that it was cold but not cold enough outside to where you couldn't eat.
you sat on the trunk of your car, just demolishing the food down, "so, i really can't believe i had the privilege of sitting here with you," eddie said suddenly. you gave him a look, "what do you mean?" you asked. eddie sighed, "i mean, you know my reputation at school. you know the rumors that comes when someone is around me," he said.
"eddie, i've never cared for any of that because who am i to judge? im just a newspaper nerd that is waiting to get the hell out of Hawkins. whatever people are saying about you i know isn't true. if it was true i wouldn't be sitting here with you," eddie remained silent, "whatever people say about you is just baseless rumors. you know when you get out of this dumb city, nothing of that matters."
eddie looked at you an appreciative smile on his face, "what are you doing after high school?" he asked. you jumped up in excitement, "oh, i got into Indiana University in Bloomington for journalism so i'm moving there in july. i got a shitty apartment so i have to start packing soon. how about you?" you asked.
eddie shrugged.
"i don't know. my band has been looking to play in bigger shows so we're trying to tour if that makes sense," he explained. you perked up, "you should move to bloomington! the college scene really could help your band, you know? i'd let you crash on my couch until you made enough money to get an apartment."
"that's crazy, we barely know each other," eddie said. you shrugged your shoulders, "so? isn't that was people do in their time during college? make crazy ass decisions? we could be great roomies," you said. eddie picked at his nails nervously, "you'd be willing to let me crash in your apartment?" you nodded giving him another nod of confirmation.
eddie was struck for words to say the least.
the music coming out of the mcdonalds had you moving your head. you weren't the biggest fan of metallica but some of the songs you enjoyed.
"you like them?" eddie asked. you shook your hand, "kind of? i'm not a big fan but i do like a few of their songs. nothing else matters is my favorite," you said. eddie had no idea that you were this cool. hell, if he would have known, he would have attempted to be your friend long before yesterday.
you turned to face him and your attention was immediately caught by the rings on his fingers, "i like your rings," you replied, pointing to the ring on his middle finger. eddie slid the silver skull off and handed it to you, "take it," he said. you gave him a shocked look, "no, i couldn't plus it wouldn't even fit. your fingers a lot bigger than mine."
eddie took off one of the chains on his pants and put the ring on it, "wear it as a necklace. i have a bunch of rings like that." liar. that was one of his favorite rings but if you liked it, he didn't mind giving it to you.
you clipped the necklace around you and stared at him. the guitar solo from the song was playing lowly as eddie brought you in closer to him. you closed the gap and let him take the lead in the kiss. you played with the ends of his hair as he cupped your face with his hands.
"woah," you whispered in shock. eddie hummed in agreement, "a kiss after only knowing each other for a day? crazy no?" he asked. you shrugged for what felt like the twentieth time today, "i didn't mind it as long as you didn't," eddie said.
you smiled, looking up at him to agree with him, "not at all," you whispered, going back to kiss him once again.

I'm not sure what possessed me to write a 19K word one shot but here it is! Special thanks to my friend Emmyyasha (twitter) and @inukagbot for helping when I was stuck. Also, inukagbot helped me out with beta reading. I love my friends.
__________
Summary: They've been best friends since they were kids, and somewhere along the way, they fell in love. However, neither of them have confessed these feelings to one another. They vowed to always put each other first, and to stick by each other's side no matter what.
With finals week two weeks away, Inuyasha's classmate asks him for help to study for their big test. The same classmate who happens to have a massive crush on him.
For the first time, Kagome deals a hand with jealousy.
Preview:
“Can you imagine if our high school had a burn book?” Kagome asked randomly, the last word becoming cut short with a small yawn.
Inuyasha snorted, “Isn’t that what yearbooks are for?”
She giggled softly as she leaned onto his arm, her eyes suddenly feeling heavier the longer she stared back at the screen. “Maybe your yearbook.”
Falling asleep on Inuyasha during movie nights was a common occurrence, especially because she was so comfortable and safe around him. Sure he teased her when she woke up and missed half of the movie, but she didn't mind as long as she was with Inuyasha.
The half-demon stiffened slightly at the light contact before relaxing his shoulders. He never got used to Kagome doing this. He loved it, he felt comfortable with her snuggling this way, but that didn’t mean that his heart rate didn’t escalate whenever she did it.
“Please, you made sure all of the pages were filled out with the nicest things ever,” he laughed.
Kagome shrugged, humming softly in content, “I called you a dummy a few times in there.”
He rolled his eyes as he looked down at her, a playful grin painted on his face. “You always call me a dummy.”
“Because you are a dummy,” Kagome defended, lifting her chin to meet his eyes with the same playful gleam.
They were so close to each other that Inuyasha could count the itty bitty freckles that dusted her nose like stars. He would take his time connecting each one with a pen to create a constellation if he could. But what stole his full attention was the plush of her lips, pink and soft, so alluring that Inuyasha could only wonder just how sweet she would taste.
Inuyasha concentrated on his breathing as he noticed himself leaning closer, “Am I a dummy because I want to—“
The realization of what was happening dawned on him, overwhelming his senses and causing goosebumps to prick on his skin. What was he doing? What was going on with him?
Kissing his best friend would ruin everything.
Kagome stopped herself in her tracks as she noticed the confusion lace into his eyes, the gold irises flashing at her with want and hesitation. Half-lidded eyes stared into him as she accepted the situation, knowing just as well as he did that whatever was about to happen between them would be a mistake.
A simple kiss between them would change the trajectory of their friendship, and the threat was too much to bear.
Neither of them wanted to ruin what they had because they gave in to their desires.

Over The Top: Group Picture.
word count: 1261~
genre: humor, fluff. a little angst. Our First Years in this one are Third years.
warnings: some mistakes.
summary: Y/n enjoys taking photos of her best friends. Candids, posed, and even really derpy ones of all of them. So it wasn’t a surprise that they wanted to take even more pictures on the day the year book committee wanted to take pictures of the club as well. But a certain someone was being a little salty and complains and doesn’t want to be part of the group picture.
a/n: This is part of a series I’m doing called Over The Top! It’s made up events and adventure with being friends with the Karasuno first years! Hope you enjoy~ (also, I was inspired by this photo to write this)
Over The Top. ✨Masterlist.✨
--
“Tch, why do you always insist on taking these group pictures all the time? We just took photos.” Tsukishima pushed his glasses up with his finger. You simply shrugged a response.
“Oh, come Tsuki it’s not that bad…” Yamaguchi nudges Tsukishima. “Y/n enjoys taking photos of us.”
“Well, it’s annoying.”
“Damn, Kei. Breaking my heart.” You dramatically clutch your heart.
“You’re just being salty! Still mad that Y/n have that one pic of you, Tsukishima!” Hinata points out. Everyone tried to suppress their giggles. You happened to get a good goofy-looking photo of Tsukishima a while back. Let’s say it's good blackmail material. You started giggling remembering the photo.
Yachi finishes talking to the people from the yearbook club and makes her way to you and the boys. It was a free day for team picture day. The second and first years were in the clubhouse getting changed and getting ready to go home. It was just the six of you in the gym.
“What are we talking about?” Yachi asked with a smile.
“Tsukishima is being lame.” Hinata sings. “And doesn’t want to take a picture with us.”
“Whatever.” Tsuki mummers and slowly stands up from where he was sitting.
“Yeah, he is! It’s nice that Y/n takes these pictures of us. We can keep all these memories for a long time.” Yamaguchi explains.
“Y/n has really good candid pictures of all of our hangouts, trips, and some when we went to volleyball tournaments,” Kageyama said, as he finished the snacks he was eating.
And it was true, you did have many pictures of all of you and some with just them. You wanted to take as many pictures of your friends as possible. Because this was going to be your last year in Japan before moving to go to school abroad.
“Come on, Tsukishima. This is our last year together and I’m moving abroad.” You give him a bright smile.
With that Tsukishima stopped complaining, he went completely silent. Well, to be honest everyone went silent. An awkward atmosphere appeared. It was still a tough subject--it was out of the blue when you told them. It wasn’t something that was talked about or even mentioned in all the years you have been friends with Yachi and the boys. You would be moving to (whatever country you desire) for school. You felt like you needed something new and moving abroad was that something new. You can tell that it was still a little hard for your friends to be reminded, some more than others.
“You don’t have to remind me,” Tsukishima said quietly. Then he just walks away and exits the gym.
Tsukishima just walked away, shocking everyone. As far as Tsukishima is concerned, he didn't express any interest when it came to certain things--more of a lack of emotion in such matters. It was a big deal though to see him walk out at that moment.
“It’s okay. I will handle it.” You gave your friends a quick reassuring smile, before walking out of the gym as well.
You walked outside the gym and found Tsukishima near the stairs to the club room.
“You’re such a tsundere, you know this?” You teasingly said as you got closer to him.
He just looks at you and rolls his eyes. He doesn’t walk away from you so that was a good sign so far.
Your relationship with Tsukishima was unique. Although you both seemed to dislike each other at times, you and he were very close. It started when you two met back in the first year. But that's a story for another time.
“You know, I won’t be gone for that long. I do plan on coming back.” You sat down on the steps of the stairs.
He stays silent.
“We will always facetime, or call. I mean I know there are different time zones or whatever… But it’s not like I’m going to disappear.” You slightly chuckled.
“But what if you do?” Tsukishima says silently.
Now it was your turn to stay silent. Honestly, Tsukishima knew that wasn’t going to happen. But this was the first time in a long time he had someone that he truly cared about and they were just going to leave. He couldn’t admit it, but he was afraid.
“You really do think I’m just going to get up and leave you? huh? “ You squint your eyes towards him. “You really think I’m not going to give you a play-by-play of every day I’m gone? Hmm? Gosh, and I thought you were the smart one.” You said teasingly looking away for dramatic effect.
But you look back quickly when you don't hear an answer.
“Kei…look.” He looks at you, “Even if we might not talk every day when I leave. You would always be one of my closest friends. That’s not going to change for me. I just need... a change of scenery for a little.” You give him a warm smile but your brows furrow for a second. A thought has come to your mind.
“Wait, the first part that I said kind of sounds cliche…~I’m never going to forget about you.~” You laugh a little at your joke.
“Tch, you’re such… an idiot.” Tsukishima tries to conceal his smile.
Standing up from the stairs, you stretch.
“Come on. Let’s go back inside and take this photo. I promise you it will be the last... Of today.” You start walking back to the gym.
“I didn’t even agree to take the picture.”
“Then why are you following me back in then.” You turn your head and give him a smirk.
Joining the rest of your friends, you walked into the gym with Tsukishima.
“Okay, gather around. Let’s take this picture now!” You hopped closer to your friends. You pulled Tsukishima and slightly pushed him over to the rest of them. You turn around and lift your arms and take a selfie of yourself and your friends.
You looked at the photo and smiled. “Okay, one more! This time, just the five of you!”
While your friends posed for the picture, Hinata jumped on the floor with his arms raised. Both Kageyama and Tsukishima squat. Kageyama wearing a smirk and Tsukishima wearing a sad expression. Yachi is in the middle holding a peace sign, and Yamaguchi is smiling.
Once you have taken the picture, you give it to Hinata so he can see it. As your friends discuss the photo, you stare at them in awe. You were just thinking about your experiences with all of them. All the sad, all the happy, all the scary, and all the ones filled with love. Yachi nudges you slightly and you smile at her and join in the conversation.
“So what’s next, captain?” You pat Yamaguchi on the back and Kageyama hands you your phone back.
“Food?” Yachi suggested.
“Food,” Kageyama says. Everyone started walking towards the exit.
“On Tadashi, right?” You hold onto Yamaguchi’s arm.
“What? No, you can pay for your meal, Y/n.” Yamaguchi said to you.
“Oh come on. But you are our captain.” You pouted.
“You’re not even on the team Y/n.”
“I can spot you Y/n,” Yachi said sweetly. You let go of Yamaguchi and put your arm around Yachi’s shoulder.
“And this is why Yachi is my favorite.”
“Wait, me too, Yachi me too,” Hinata says.
“Sorry, only for Y/n,” Yachi says.
You all continue to bicker once outside the gym. Yamaguchi shakes his head as he closes the doors to the gym and locks up.

end notes~
a/n: This is slightly shorter than most I have written for these series, but I hope you do enjoy this small little interaction with Y/n and the “First Years.”. I kind of had trouble figuring out how I wanted to start. So I went the Karasuno first years as third years to start this series. I will inform what year they are in and each part because it’s easier to jump around timewise bc i made Y/n the same age as them in this. But thank you again!

Pity the Living
Daniel Sharman x Reader Series
A/N: The Much Requested, and By Requested, I mean @rogershoe wanted me to write this, MY DANIEL SHARMAN FANFICTION!!!!!! The character that Y/N plays is based on my OC for FTWD and is not an actual character in FTWD. Basic Premise of the setting for this chapter is that they're in high-school/ secondary school. But for the majority of the story(minus flashbacks) it's set in 2016/17 when s3 of FTWD was filmed.
Story Summary: When (Y/N) (L/N) reunites with a high-school friend on the set of the job she's been working on for the past 2-3 years, not only is she excited to work with the guy who inspired her to go into acting, but to hear about what he's done since she's seen him. But the more they talk, the more she realizes, this reunion is not going the way she had planned.
CW: Cursing? brief mention of alcohol, anxiety, mentions of food, fake dagger, fake blood, bets,

Career Day
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
Most of the students around you were chorusing to the tune of your school anthem, but not you. You had heard the melody and sung it almost a million times. Whether you were exaggerating or not, not even you knew. Instead, you were whispering and laughing with one of your best friends, Daniel Sharman.
You met Daniel when you first came to the school. You didn't know many people. You didn't even know yourself in this place. It was a completely foreign experience, but he stuck by your side and showed you around.
Since then, you had made friends, joined the swim team, learned your way around the school without ending up in the boys' restrooms instead of the girls' ones. Despite not needing Daniel to show you around anymore, he still provided plenty of comedic support and pick-me-ups and was a great mate all around.
Your teacher had just finished introducing all the parents who were presenting at career day. The assignment being after the presentations were finished, you were supposed to think about what you wanted to be in the future. You had no idea what you wanted to be. But of course… Daniel did.
"An actor."
"An actor?" he nodded. "Like Macbeth?"
"No, Macbeth is a character. An actor is a person who plays the character."
"Why an actor?"
"Dunno. Just seems right."
You frowned. "Huh, that's nice. Knowing what you want to be."
"You could always try acting. It's worth a shot."
"Hah, if I ever tried acting, it would probably be when I'm old, senile, and look like Betty White."
"Oh, come on. You're a great actress!"
"What's that supposed to mean, Sharman?" you gasped.
"Just that you tell fibs and stories as if they were the truth. That's all acting is."
"I DO NOT!"
"How did you convince your mum that your dog jumped onto the table and ate the cake without making any noise last weekend, then?" You opened your mouth to speak before closing it.
"Cat got your tongue?" he teased.
"Shut up, Sharman."

L/N Residence
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
You and Daniel were both swimming in the pool in your backyard when Daniel asked you the question.
"Did you think about it?"
Still floating, you asked, "About what?"
"Acting."
You laughed incredulously. "You were serious?"
"Of course I was." He swam closer to you and pulled your leg down, making you flop around and splash water.
"WHAT THE HELL!"
"Was just trying to get your attention," he remarked innocently.
You coughed. "You had it."
"Picture this," he waved you off. "Us, on the red carpet-"
"Who's red carpet?"
"Does it matter? We'll be each other's dates anyways."
"Why is that?" you asked.
"Because we're best friends."
"What if one of us has a boyfriend or girlfriend?"
He shrugged. "Ok, whatever. We're on the red carpet separately. It's both of ours red carpet-"
"So, does that mean we're in a movie together?"
"Yes, Y/N," he muttered exasperatedly.
"But that's impossible?"
"Why do you say that?"
You leaned closer to his ear. "BECAUSE I'M NOT BECOMING AN ACTOR."
He jumped away from you, proceeding to splash you with water.
"Mark my words. I know talent when I see it."
You sighed. "Could this just be you not wanting to be lonely in the acting world?"
He jutted his lip and spoke in a whiny voice. "Maybe…"
You laughed before splashing a giant wave of water at him. While he still had water in his eyes, you dove under and pulled him down.
He flailed around before his head popped up, and he calmed down.
"WHAT THE HELL!"
"PAYBACK, SHARMAN!"
☆◦ 。\|/。◦☆
Announcement
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
The intercom gave a heavy buzz, and static-y noises ran amok over the building before a voice actually came through the speakers.
"Hello, Teachers, Students, and Faculty. Welcome back to school. We hope that you all enjoyed your holidays and got the rest you needed to pay attention in class today," the last part was passive. Your principal gave more announcements for clubs and sports around the school, such as upcoming games or reminders for students to buy the school yearbook.
You were nodding along interested, or looking for interest really when something caught your best friend's attention.
"The school will also be hosting its first-ever play, Romeo and Juliet. Interested people should report to the music room before the end of the week to receive information."
You saw Daniel's eyes widen only moments before he spoke up. "Hey," he waved at you. "You should audition!"
"Daniel, are you insane?"
He chuckled, "No, but I think you'd like it."
You tried arguing, but he wasn't taking no for an answer. "You're the one who said you didn't know what you wanted to do after you graduated. Doing this cannot hurt."
"Yeah, it can't hurt until I trip on my costumes and break my neck!"
"That rarely ever happens," he said exasperatedly. "Ok, how about this? You audition, and if you end up getting a role and actually doing the play, I'll give you fifty pounds."
You squinted. "Do you even have fifty pounds to give me?"
"Do you even have to ask," he feigned shock in the accusation? You gave a sour face before he truthfully answered. "Fine, I don't have it now. But I will by the time the play comes around."
"What do I get just for auditioning?"
"I'll convince my mum to make that cake you like."
"Fine."
"BUT!" he exclaimed. "You have to audition for Juliet."
"You're kidding?"
He laughed. "No, I'm not. You have to audition for Juliet."
"I hate you," you mumbled before sighing a whispered 'fine.'
He gave a toothy smile. "Then we have a deal."
☆◦ 。\|/。◦☆
Auditions
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
You reluctantly walked onto the stage, Daniel's widening grin so visible in the audience. He said that he only put his name on the audition sheet so he could watch the auditions. He would've already been gone by the time it was his turn.
"Hello, My name is Y/n L/n, and I am auditioning for Juliet," your lips pressing into a straight line after saying the sentence.
You stammered through your first few lines. "Sh-Shall I speak ill of him— that is my husband?" You said with a laugh.
"Ah," you paused and clicked your tongue. "Poor my lord, what tongue shall smooth thy name… When I, thy three-hours wife, have mangled it?"
You said your following line in an accusatory manner. "But wherefore, villain... didst thou kill my cousin?" you said, though your voice squealed trying to pronounce 'didst.' "That villain cousin would have killed my husband."
"Back, foolish tears, back to your native spring!" Your voice rose and fell several octaves. "Your tributary drops belong to woe, Which you, mistaking, offer up to joy." Fake tears spring to your eyes, your voice cracked, and you began slowly falling against an invisible wall.
You looked down at your paper for what to say next. "My husband lives, that Tybalt would have slain; And Tybalt's dead, that would have slain my husband. All this is comfort; wherefore weep I then?" You wiped your cheeks dramatically.
"Some word there was, worser than Tybalt's death, That murd'red me. I would forget it fain;" your lips quivered, and you sucked in deep, heaving breaths before speaking your line.
"But O, it presses to my memory. Like damnèd guilty deeds to sinners' minds! 'Tybalt is dead, and Romeo--banishèd!" You shouted.
You stood back up in a startling jump, and with a proud smile, you said triumphantly, "And Scene!"
The directors and some students in the audience, especially Daniel, gave a round of applause before the director dismissed you.
You took the steps to the stage and sat next to Daniel as the director called the next student to audition.
"You were amazing! The director might as well have given you the role right then and there."
You laughed, "Hang on, charmer. There were a bunch of Juliet's who literally said that entire thing so… fluently. I stammered through the whole thing."
"But you showed more emotion than anyone else. You only had a week to prepare. The actual show will be like child's play."
"They want people who can memorize and recite. The emotion can be added later, but it's worth nothing if they forget their lines."
"There is such a thing called improvising for a reason," he reassured.
"Who in their right, bloody minds wants to improvise Shakespeare?"
He turned his head and chuckled before waving a five-pound note in front of your face. "Here, I got to go before they call me, but you earned this at least."
"Five pounds for being forced to audition for a stupid play so you can prove a point? Wow, you must really fancy me, huh, Sharman?" you said sarcastically.
"Goodbye, L/n," he whispered before sneaking out the back door of the auditorium.
"Alright, next up. Daniel Sharman!" The director shouted your friend's name a few more times before giving up.
☆◦ 。\|/。◦☆
Headmasters Office
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
A week after your audition, you were called to the headmasters' office. Thus is the cause of the curious looks from your classmates. Oohs and Aahs flooded your ears as you grabbed your bag and headed out the door to the front of the school.
When you got to the front of the building and went into the headmasters' office, you saw the Theatre director, Ms Parker, standing behind the desk. "Headmaster Leo allowed me to use his office to do this. Isn't that cool?"
Ms Parker was one of the younger teachers in school. She was twenty-four, and this was her first year teaching after receiving her bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in music production. A fact she could astoundingly ramble about for fifteen minutes. As proven at the auditions.
"I didn't want to call you to the theatre room. That would be too predictable, correct?" You'd come to realize she was a very eccentric woman. "I have called you in here to inform you that you have been selected to perform in this year's play of Romeo and Juliet."
A wave of shock coursed through your body, and you were sure it reflected on your face. "Are you sure?"
"Darling, I'm positive!- your audition was totally spectacular! So brilliant-in fact- that I am completely sure in my choice to make you our female lead- Juliet!"
"What!" Your eyes widened into a blank stare. Your thoughts were running rampant in your mind. You thought that performing on the stage would be a breeze when you weren't the lead.
"Ms Parker, I didn't actually want the part of Juliet! It's just that my friend dared me to audition for Juliet! Is there no way I can get a smaller part? I'm no Juliet. The show would be ruined," you rambled.
The directors' facial expressions softened, "Darling, you are the only choice. None of the other people who auditioned can even compare to the amount of passion you produced in that audition. I am determined to have you as our Juliet."
You whimpered out an "Ok." Professors had a strange way of convincing you to do extra credit assignments or things that aren't necessary.
"We have a chemistry read for you and a few of our other choices for Romeo after school today. Do you need to contact a parent to let them know where you'll be?"
"Uh, yes, please."
After you made your call, you walked back to your classroom with shaky hands. The class period was almost over, but you had to tell Daniel that you had gotten a part in the show. Not just any part- THE PART!
You shuffled into the classroom reluctantly. All eyes were on you as every student had assumed you'd been in trouble. Either suspended, expelled, or told your parents were going to have a sit-down with the headmaster.
You took your seat next to Daniel before taking out a piece of paper and writing out a note, encompassing the words, "I got the part!"
You slid the sheet discreetly onto his desk. When he read it, his eyes widened, and he quietly moved his hands toward yours, beckoning for a high five.
☆◦ 。\|/。◦☆
First Rehearsal
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
After the chemistry read, the role of Romeo was given to a kid named James Mercer-Allen got the part. Though it was more because the directors were starting to become tired.
The next day was the first rehearsal. Swimming season was last semester, so there was no clash in schedules with the play.
"Alright, this rehearsal is to get acquainted with the stage, your fellow actors, and directors," she insisted. "Now, let's introduce ourselves. Can our Romeo please stand up?"
James stood up and gave a brief introduction. You were called on next. You stated your name, "I was on the swim team last semester, and I'm in my thirteenth year. I hope I can do this role justice."
More students stood up to introduce themselves. The entire process took more than thirty minutes.
The next thing to happen was that the rest of the students were called to recite lines for various roles. The only parts that had been cast preliminarily were Romeo and Juliet.
You and James had sat on the wooden stools unless there was a scene going on that needed Romeo and/or Juliet.
By the end of the first rehearsal, the majority of the speaking roles were cast. You went home exhausted but not expecting the conversation that waited for you.
☆◦ 。\|/。◦☆
The Talk
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
"We're moving?" you shouted at your parents from your seat across from them in the sitting room. "What do you mean we're moving."
"Honey, your dad got a job in the states, so we have to move," your mother argued.
"But what about school? No school will take me in the middle of the year, and it's my last year of secondary school. I don't want to spend the rest of my last year knowing nobody."
Your dad, the man of the hour, spoke up. "Dear, we're moving at the end of the year. After school ends."
"But- What about Uni?"
"You said you were taking a sabbatical year!"
"Yes, so I could intern in London!"
"Can't you intern in California?" Your mother whined.
"We're going to California? It's the furthest state?"
Your dad attempted to reassure you but failed. "Darling, it won't be that bad. Maybe you'll like it there more than you like it here!"
"I could never like anywhere more than I like it here!"
You agreed to go to your room and spent the rest of the day there. Later on, after you finished moping, you ringed up your closest friends to tell them you were moving. You did that until you were so tired you fell asleep on the phone with Sarah before you even called Daniel.
☆◦ 。\|/。◦☆
Confrontation
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
"Why am I hearing from everyone besides you that you're moving?" Daniel appeared out of thin air behind you, and the accusation was an assault on your conscience.
You could lie and tell him that you wanted to reveal that to him in person, or you could just tell him the truth- say you fell asleep. Mix-and-Match? You ended up just telling the truth. "I fell asleep when I was making some of my other calls. I was going to tell you, I swear!"
"Why didn't you call me first. I'm your best friend?"
"That's why! It was too hard. I kept putting it off and putting it off and putting it off because I didn't want to tell you, I don't want it to be true, and telling you of all people would make it feel real."
"Why can't you stay for Uni?"
"I already told my parents I was taking a gap year. I didn't apply to any colleges."
"Crap!" he sighed. "Ok, well, we're going to have to make the most of it. And! You're getting a going away party!"
"Daniel, I don't need-"
"No debate! You are getting a going away party!"
☆◦ 。\|/。◦☆
Opening Night
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
Four months later, after all the rehearsals and memorizations of lines. After much running around the entire film department, it was finally opening night, and your nerves were shot.
You were scrambling all morning to find everything you needed. All your costumes were at the school, but you still needed to bring your black leotard, skin-coloured tights, and wear your hair in an up-do style.
You decided to do your skincare routine, but your panic got the best of you, and you forgot what every single product was used for.
Daniel came over and helped you get ready but found you practically hyperventilating.
Your parents drove you both to the theatre, and when Ms Parker told you that Daniel couldn't be backstage, you promptly told her that he was your emotional support. After much arguing, she finally let him backstage.
Around an hour before showtime, the director told Daniel that he had to go wait in the audience if he already bought his ticket or that he had to go do it now.
Before he left, he gave you a pep-talk. "Hey, so one time, I was in this play, and the idea was that I was expelled, and there was a piece of paper I had to give my 'mother,' but I lost it. So we had to improvise, but I couldn't find the paper, and I felt horrible. So just know, even if you forget your lines, you must improvise, and remember, it still probably won't compare to the embarrassment I felt that day. So you can laugh at my humiliation. "
You chuckled, "I will. Ok, go before you get in trouble."
"Ok, me, our parents and all your friends will be in the front row. I've already reserved the entire row. I brought a whole bag of jackets just for that reason!"
"You can't do that," you said in between cackles.
"For you, I'll do anything," he grinned.
A few hours later and the show was almost done. "What's here? A cup, closed in my true love's hand? Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end," you wept.
"O, churl! Drunk all and left no friendly drop to help me after? I will kiss thy lips; Haply some poison yet doth hang on them, to die with thine restorative." You leaned over James and let your hair fall to the side of your head to cover your face. You pulled back without actually kissing James.
"Thy lips are warm."
A whispery voice came from offstage, "Which way?" The cue for you to take the poison, which was actually cranberry juice.
"Yea, noise? Then I'll be brief. O happy dagger!" You grabbed the dagger and brought it near your chest. "This is thy sheath;" you drew the fake knife back three inches from your chest and stabbed it to where the bag of more cranberry juice was and punctured the bag. 'Blood' soaked through your dress. "There rust, and let me die." You fell dramatically onto the altar and waited for the scene to end as the crowd cheered.
After the show, you dashed into the crowd where your friends and family waited for you. Ovations and Applauses were passed, lauded boxes of chocolates and gorgeous roses were given.
When you got to Daniel, he practically tackled you with a hug. "I actually thought you died for a split second. The blood looked so real."
"Daniel, most people don't bleed that fast, do they?"
"I don't know but fear kicked in, and I couldn't make sense of anything."
You grinned and almost went to your parents before Daniel grabbed your arm. "You don't have a date to the Leavers ball, do you?"
"No, I don't. Why?"
He sighed. "Well, I was thinking that you could go with me. I don't have a date either."
You squinted, thinking there was some ulterior motive behind his actions. "Ok, I'll go with you if you give me the money you owe me before then."
"It's right here," he smiled.
Your face scrunched up, but you reluctantly agreed. You only had a month of school left, and you might as well spend it having fun with your friends.

The Leavers Ball and the Getaway Party
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
You were dressed in a light blue, pleated, Mikado prom dress that cut off at mid-thigh. You had black wedges on your feet and a black pearl-beaded bracelet on your arm.
You were wearing a half-up, half-down style that framed your face and a silver necklace with a circle-shaped diamond.
You were sitting in the parlour when Daniel rang the doorbell. He was ten minutes late.
"Sorry," he said when your dad answered it. "I know I'm late. I was picking up Kat and James."
Kat and James were your and Daniel's respective friends who'd started last year after you and Daniel introduced them.
"Hi," you popped out of the shadows. "Alright, Mom, Dad, we're late, so we're just going to get goi-"
"Wait! I have to take pictures! Go get Kat and James."
"No, Mom. No pictures!"
"It's only right. I just want a few. We can take it outside."
You sighed but reluctantly caved into your mother's will.
The four of you took pictures outside of Daniel's Jeep Wrangler. You took ones with silly faces, just girls, just boys, and ones with all four of you before your parents allowed you to leave.
You were forty minutes late, and the ball was already in full swing by the time you got there.
You got on the dance floor immediately because one of your favourite songs was playing, but the DJ switched the song as soon as you found a decent spot. It was a slow song. You chuckled, and Daniel put his hands on your waist.
"Well, this is awkward."
A few minutes later, Daniel posed an interesting question.
"Did you know that I had a crush on you when you first came to school?"
"Uh, you stammered. "No, I didn't know that."
"Yeah, I did. It was short, though. Surface-level."
"Oh," you said. "Should I take offence to that?"
"What?" His eyes widened in realization with what he said. "No, that's not what I meant. You have an amazing personality. I just meant that… I just meant I like you more as a friend than to ruin that with any of those feelings."
"Oh, ok. You wouldn't have, though."
"I wouldn't?"
"No, everyone needs an ego boost every once in a while."
"Haha!"
"And besides, I've had feelings for you at one point too. But it was very cliche, so I tried to shake it as hard as I could."
"Oh?" He raised his eyebrows. "And did you?"
"Like I said, as hard as I could. If it's still there somewhere, it's buried very deep, so much so that I was embarrassed."
"Embarrassed to like me?"
"I mean embarrassed to try and make my life seem like some movie."
"Oh, well, if you did, it would've just made you that much better as an actress. Speaking of that, would you consider acting in the least?"
"Maybe, now that I'm leaving, it's basically the last thing I have to connect me to you."
"No," he said, pointing to your bracelet. "You have that."
You had forgotten that it was Daniel who gave it to you, but the realization brought a smile to your face. "Oh yeah, I'll never take it off."
Later on, long before the ball ended, you saw many of your friends leaving.
"Hey, are you ready to go?" Daniel approached you.
"Where is everyone going?"
He wriggled his eyebrows. "Afterparty!"
"But it's not over?"
"Quit being a party popper and just come with us, L/N!"
You gave in, something you did a lot, and you all started driving. When you got there, you realized you were at Daniel's house.
"The afterparty is at your house?" you asked.
"Well…" James answered.
Kat joined in. "It's really an afterparty!"
"This is your going away party!" Daniel finished.
"But I'm not going away for another month."
"Well, now you have an entire month for people to give you gifts and stuff, and you don't have to worry about the party!" He reasoned.
"But why did it have to be after the Leavers ball?"
"Because you're already in a dress, and it has to be a surprise! Surprise!" Kat exclaimed.
"Alright, fine!"
The entire night you partied and danced, and though you didn't drink alcohol, plentiful amounts of pop and mocktails were passed around. The music was a delight to your ears with all your favourite songs. There were chips and pizza with all your favourite toppings.
"This party is awesome!"
Daniel grinned. "Well, I am an amazing party planner if I do say so myself."
☆◦ 。\|/。◦☆
Airport
☆◦ 。/|\。◦☆
Daniel's parents drove your family to the airport. Your parents had sold the car. Your dad would return in a week to close a deal on the house. Everything was official, and now you were leaving.
You got out of the car, and the tears forcefully began to fall.
"I'm really gonna miss you, jerk," you said disdainfully to Daniel.
He chuckled. "I'm going to miss you more."
"Impossible!"
He wiped the fallen tear from your eye, and for a moment, you could see every single multi-coloured speck in his eyes and noticed how sometimes they looked blue, and at others, they looked grey or green.
You noticed the curvature of his smile and the chisel of his jawline. You saw the hurt in his eyes that said, 'why do you have to go? You're killing me,' and wanted to never move from that position.
He continued to rub the tears that fell onto your cheek, and the sad moment was as sheltered as it could be. You felt safe with him, in his arms, just looking at his face and being reminded of how he comforted you in a place that felt as familiar as Oz felt to Dorothy.
"What am I gonna do without you?" you whispered.
"Get at least one acting job, get an assistant and an agent, I'll do the same thing, and then either one of us has our assistants reach out to our agents, so we get back in touch in case we ever lose touch."
He sounded so grave that you couldn't help but laugh. "That's assuming I do become an actress, Daniel."
"You're right," he whined. "But don't forget me."
"I promise."
And you tried to keep that promise. Throughout your first year, you interned at UCLA, working in the lab. You then applied to go to school there, and you still tried to keep Daniel in your mind. Maintaining a social life on campus combined with schoolwork already wasn't easy. However, you still wouldn't let yourself forget your best friend.
It wasn't until you entered your senior year and you were about to graduate that he started to wane in your memories. The things you did together became obsolete as new friends and memories replaced the old. The things he taught you were thrown out to make space for the new lessons you learned each day.
Even when you did become an actress, you never really remembered why you decided to. You remembered that your friend pushed you to do that play, but it was almost ten years ago, and for the life of you, you couldn't remember his name.
But you did do it, first as an extra, then a body double, and then you started getting l roles on smaller shows. But your big break was getting a quasi-lead role on the spin-off of a big television show, The Walking Dead. For two years, you enjoyed going to conventions and playing the complex character, Valeria Bishop, and you thought you had it all figured out.
But life has a funny way of coming full circle and throwing you a curveball that knows you off course and changes your life.

Chapter Two. characters: ransom drysdale x reader. warnings: none (for now), slow burn type of thing. summary: Hugh Drysdale is known for being a well known playboy; the only son of real estate mogul Linda Drysdale, the oldest grandson of famed Author and Publisher Harlan Thrombey. Not knowing what real love is, not knowing where and who to get it from until he meets someone... something that could possible change him and his life all together. But it'll take a real good woman to do so. a/n: second installment of this Ransom fic. I hope you all love it. if you see mistakes, no you didn't. this was written on my phone and not thuroughly proofread. whoopsie.
Homecoming Dance was just around the corner and I was the lucky member of staff to be a chaperone. Voluntold as they like to say. I had no choice but to agree. Not like I had anything planned for the weekend, especially Saturday night.
“Tickets will be sold at the day of the dance. And if any one has someone that would like to volunteer for the dance to be a chaperone, please contact me or the principal or even Mr. Levinson,” I said, putting my number up with the principal and Mr. Levinson number.
“Please let them call or text us before Friday, please!” I expressed, the bell ringing. Dismissing the class, I smiled at each one and waved them off.
Sighing softly, I sat down at my desk and sat back against the chair. Spinning slowly toward the board and looking at the names of those that needed to turn in late assignments.
“I’ve gotten four calls in the last hour,” Ari said, sitting at a student desk that was in front of mine. His hands gripping the front of it as he sat. He chuckled softly. “All of them women. But I did say yes to all of them,” he muttered, leaning back against the seat.
I smiled at him, shaking my head as I watched him. “Well aren’t you so lucky. It must be because they think their kids' teacher is very attractive. I haven’t gotten any!” I said, soon hearing my phone vibrate on my desk. Scared me too. “Looks like my luck is about to change!”
“Hello?” I answered, a familiar voice on the other end. “Hu- Ransom! Hi there. You’d like to…. Chaperone? Didn’t peg you for the chaperone type. For a high school homecoming dance,” I teased, I could see Ari lifting his brow.
“Yeah well, I don’t have much to do on a Saturday night,” Ransom said. He did, but he’d much rather get to know her.
“Well, I’ll put your name down. I’ll even use ‘Ransom’ as preferred name,” I said, smiling as I wrote his name down. “Great. Saturday. 5 pm. Sound good?” I confirmed and he answered ‘yes’. “See you then,” I said, hanging up.
Ari looked at me, smiling wide as he let out a soft chuckle. “Was that… you flirting?” He asked, tilting his head slightly.
“What? No. He’s cute but no. Agh, maybe. He drove up next to me when I was walking to my car. Said he wanted to make sure I got in my car safely,” I confessed, smiling softly to myself. My eyes glanced at Ari, who was just watching me thoughtfully.
“Seems he might think you’re cute too,” he said, soon standing to his feet and smiled softly. “See you Saturday,” he said, knocking his knuckle on my desk before exiting.
SATURDAY NIGHT --
The weekend had finally rolled by. Every student telling me about their dresses, suits, and other forms of attire they were planning to wear. Some even showing me pictures. I was happy my students were excited to show me, that they liked me enough to share.
Having been sent home to get dressed, I took the opportunity to look nice. After all, Ransom was going to appear. If he did. Shit. He might’ve changed his mind. Decided chaperoning was something dumb to do on a Saturday night.
‘Why are you even worried? Why do you even care? Jeez,’ I thought, shaking my head. The thoughts fleeting as I applied my mascara. Doing the final touches to the natural looking make up I decided to do.
I had dressed in the knee length red dress that had a floral pattern and the sleeves weren’t that long; cutting at the middle of my upper arms, strings tied into a not so perfect bow.
I slipped on my nude, two inch heeled sandal. The one that didn’t have the strap that wrapped around my ankle. Looking myself in the mirror, I fixed my dress. Leaving my bed room, I made it to the front door of my apartment. Unlocking the door and grabbing my small purse in the process. I walked out and made my way down the stairs, happy I only lived on the second floor.
Getting into my car, immediately locking the door, I started it up and leaned against the seat while pulling on my seatbelt.
I made to the school in time, an hour before the gym doors opened for the dance. Getting out of my car, I locked it and rounded the back of my car when I heard someone say my name. Walking up next to me, Ransom slowed. Wearing a tan overcoat, a Persian scarf, and cable knit sweat underneath with slacks for his pants. His shoes a light brown to tie in the tan jacket. I smiled at him, while his lips turned up slightly.
“Wow. You clean up very nice,” I said, smiling warmly. “Wasn’t sure if you were actually gonna show up.”
He tilted his head at me, as if I was joking.
“Only because… who really wants to spend their Saturday night… chaperoning a high school dance,” I explained further, walking with the male toward the entrance of the gym.
“Wasn't too sure, either. Dances were never my thing unless I had a hot date and we hooked up behind the bleachers on the track field,” Ransom said, a smirk playing on his lips as he watched me. His eyes scanning me.
“Well, I definitely owe you one for coming. We only have you and another guy chaperoning today. Most are women. I was voluntold to be here,” I said, chuckling softly as we approached the gym. One of the yearbook committee kids at the table with another person; assuming someone to keep her company.
They greeted me, and I smiled at them. “Hi Maxine. Hi Danny,” I said.
Ransom opened the door for me and I walked in. He was soon beside me again, as if not wanting to get lost. “Don’t worry. It’s very hard to lost in a school like this,” I teased, walking to the large group of women that surrounded the refreshment table.
“All right, I’ll be giving everyone their duties! I have about ten of you. This is great! Oh, hey!” Ari was speaking to the group, waving at me when he saw me. “About time!” He exclaimed, eyes shifting to the male beside me.
“You must be Hugh Drysdale,” Ari said, “I’m Ari Levinson. Welcome!” He continued, looking at the list on his clipboard. I could have sworn I told Ari to call Hugh Ransom.
“It’s Ransom! Don’t call me Hugh,” Ransom said, smirking softly as he eyed Ari that soon shifted his gaze toward me then back to Ransom.
“Sorry man. Ransom. Got it,” Ari confirmed, and I nudged Ransom softly. I smiled and I could see his lips slowly turning into a smile.
Calling my name, Ari said, “I want you and Ransom at the refreshment areas. Around an hour in, we’ll rotate so everyone can get a chance to dance if they’d like to. Vilma,” he continued, telling the other ladies where they’d be.
“You look really beautiful tonight,” Ransom said as we walked around the table to set up the cups of punch. I smiled, letting a small chuckle escape my lips.
“Thank you,” I said, filling the last cup that would fit on the table.
The lights soon dimmed, the DJ playing a song as kids started to flow the gymnasium. Some dancing to the fast beats of the new music, some throwbacks being played. I continued to fill cups of punch, Ransom busy at the side of me and handing out plates of food. From the stage, I saw Ari come up to the mic. “Staff and volunteers, time to switch,” he said, telling the DJ to keep up the good work.
Ransom and I moved to the side as Vilma and Jackie took over the table. We covered the exit nearest us and that’s when a random slow song began to play.
“Wanna dance?” Someone said, and I looked to my left to see a student. Hand extended. “Why it’d be an honor!” I exclaimed, taking it and glancing at Ransom. Making my way to the dance floor with Frankie, I rested my hands on his shoulders as he didn’t quite have a growth spurt just yet. His hands rested in between my hips and waist.
“Sorry kid, but imma cut in. She owes me a dance,” Ransom interjected, hand on the kids shoulder. The kid nodded, stepping to the side and that was when Ransoms moved from my hip to his arm wrapping around my waist, his free hand taking mine and letting my other hand wrap around his neck.
“Why, Hugh. Didn’t know you could dance,” I said, smiling softly as I watched his features lighten.
“Hmm. Dancing is fun when you have someone beautiful as your partner,” he said, and I had to shake my head. Eyes looking into his, hand wrapped in his, my other playing at the hairs at the nape of his neck. It was a surreal moment.
In the corner of my eye, I could see Ari in the corner of the gym. Eyes locked on me. When I made eye contact with him, he smiled and looked away to tend to a task the he saw on his clipboard.
The song soon ended, and we drilled our movements. Eyes staring into his, I licked my lips nervously as his hand moved from my frame and his hand cupped my cheek.
“I don’t know… why or how, but for some reason I couldn’t get you out of my mind,” he muttered, eyes slowly drifting to my lips.
“I know your type Ransom Drysdale. And I will not be played,” I whispered, slowly moving from his trance. “One more dance?” I asked, continuing to play with his hair. He nodded in agreement, pulling me close.
From what I research about Ransom was that he was a playboy, a womanizer. Why was he so sudden in wanting to kiss me (at least I assumed he wanted to)? To be near me? To have his mind filled with thoughts of me? It burned in the back of my head. My guard was up, and it would never come down around Ransom. Not now, anyway.

Harry and Y/N hook up in Y/N’s childhood bedroom
This is part of @berrynarrybanana‘s Sex Bucket List Fic Challenge! My prompt was “childhood bedroom” and YOU KNOW I got excited as fuck about this. Big thanks to Casey for setting this all up! Enjoy!!! a little baby blurb with 1.5k wc!
It wasn’t bringing him home that made you nervous. No--in fact, your mom would love him and your dad would be thrilled to meet the man your sister had been teasing you about for the last six months. She loved to say anything to make you blush and roll your eyes, pulling questions from aunts and uncles at any family gathering.
It started as something super casual, which was always the go to line of defense when she brought it up. A few mutual friends, a bar on the Sunset Strip and a few rooftop bellinis. But texting your sister a sneaky side profile pic of the newest celebrity that had wandered his way into your circle was by far the biggest mistake you could make.
You never thought that one day he’d wind up sitting across from her at the dining room table, your face going red from the stories she told about the first time you got too drunk, the black eye you got from volleyball in 10th grade, the stupid things you’d said after your wisdom teeth surgery.
You never thought that exchanging numbers and a few texts about the loaded nachos you’d drunkenly shared would lead you here: the hallway outside your childhood bedroom, with a thumping in your chest that had beads of sweat forming on your hairline.
Your sister wasn’t the only thing you weren’t ready to face that night.
“It can’t be that bad,” he said behind you, his voice quiet so as to not give away the stealth mission of sneaking his duffle bag into your room.
The guest room is very nice, Harry, your mom had smiled that night in the kitchen over a glass of merlot. I’m sure you’ll find it quite comfortable.
You weren’t shocked. You’d never had a boyfriend sleep over, but your sister had. She’d been sneaking her boyfriend of four years down the hall in the early morning of the hours for a while, ruffling the blankets and pillows in the guest room to make it look like he’d spent the night in there.
So fine, not only was it embarrassing that at 23 your parents were still treating you like a teenager, but the fact that the boy you somehow managed to bring home was Harry Styles made this feel even more humiliating. And you hadn’t even opened the door yet.
You’d warned him, sort of. You told him that they’d want you to sleep in separate rooms, and you warned that the last time your childhood bedroom had been updated was when you started high school. He didn’t seem to understand what that meant.
You pushed the door open and held your breath, stepped inside and let your eyes sweep the room, the light purple walls weren’t as harsh in the evening, but the posters stared back at you with daunting eyes.
You turned around to gauge his reaction, the corner of his mouth had pulled up slightly, his lips pressed into a thin line when you met his gaze.
“Shut up!” You groaned, twisting your face when he dropped his bag on the ground.
“I think it’s endearing,” he said, the smug smirk grew into a full blown smile. “I mean, Bieber Fever is a thing, right? He was irresistible back then.”
You reached a hand forward and smacked him across the chest, moving around the side of the room to pull the shade down. “I was fifteen when they let me redecorate, okay? You should have seen the butterflies on the wall before that.”
He let out a quiet laugh, unzipped the bag and tugged out a pair of athletic shorts and you shut the door. Your parents had long slipped upstairs to bed, your sister and her boyfriend were likely still in the living room, but your secret was safe with them. “So you’ve got a type, then.”
“Hmm?” You eyed him, heading for the closet to find pajamas.
“Two handsome lads with voices that sound like absolute honey,” he pointed at the poster that hung near the window, the expression on his face was serious, but it broke into a smile when you blinked back at him.
“The guest room is quite comfortable,” you threatened, using your mother’s words from earlier to let him know you meant business.
“Baby,” he took a step towards you and opened his arms. “I mean it, it’s fine, I’m just messing with you.”
“Well it’s not funny,” you pouted. “Imagine the horror when my mom said they wanted to meet you. And I knew I had to bring you here.”
“To the shrine?” He couldn’t help himself, but when you let out a groan of displeasure, he came even closer, wrapped his arms around your waist and pressed a kiss to your cheek. “Alright,” he laughed. “I’m done, that’s it.”
“I swear to God,” you looked up at him, tugging out of his grasp. “I’ll tell them you snuck in here and wouldn’t leave. They’ll never make you shrimp scampi again.”
“Wouldn’t want that,” he nodded, held his hands up as he backed away and returned to unpacking. He left it there for while, brushed his teeth beside you in the bathroom down the hall and climbed into the floral sheets once you’d switched the light off.
You stared up at the ceiling and ignored the nervousness that bristled down your spine. If the internal monologue that typically graced the nights you spent together wasn’t enough (why is he into me in the first place? How did I land someone as funny and loving and talented as him?), the added layer of the posters and the yearbooks strewn across your desk made it nearly impossible to fall asleep. Surely he’d realize that you were just another normal girl, too boring and ordinary to keep up with a life like his.
He turned towards you suddenly, rolled onto his side to get a better look at you. You could see his eyes through the dark, a small smile on his lips before he whispered.
“M’glad you brought me home.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah,” he said, readjusting the pillow beneath his head. “I know you were kind of freaked but, I think dinner went well.”
You had to agree with him. Your dad was more than eager to show him the records he’d collected in the basement, your sister’s boyfriend was thrilled to discover they had the same taste in beer. He was polite and pleasant--not that you expected anything less--and somehow, he seemed to fit in quite naturally.
“It did,” you said, melting into his side when he snaked an arm around your waist and pulled you close. You indulged him for a minute, let his mouth meet yours in the dark cover of night until you heard footsteps in the hallway.
You pulled away automatically, eyes wide until you were sure you were safe, you sighed and looked at him. “We can’t.”
“Why not?”
“Because my parents are home and my sister is gonna climb into bed on the other side of that wall.”
His eyebrows pointed together, a devilish look on his face. “You don’t want me to fuck you right here?”
“It’s not that I don’t,” you put a hand on his chest to keep some distance. “It’s that I don’t trust you to be quiet.”
“I can be quiet,” he pulled you closer again, “promise.” As much as you wanted to resist, you couldn’t. His hands moved along your sides, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake when you let yours reach up to cup his face.
Surely this wasn’t your brightest idea, but the excitement of having him here and having him now made thoughts of what if float out the window and down the block--the same one where you had lemonade stands and graduation parties.
You’d gotten used to the way he easily slid your shorts down to your ankles, fingers nestled between your thighs when your back arched to grant more access. He pressed kisses to your jaw, hummed in satisfaction when you let your hand grip his length beneath the sheets.
It wasn’t long until your clothes littered the floor, every inch of your body ached for him despite the risk and the possibility of being caught. But when his head dipped below the duvet and his tongue met your center with agility, the posters and the embarrassing stories from the dining table vanished into thin air. The only thing that mattered was the way you gripped the sheets and the way he slid into you with ease.
“Don’t--be--loud,” you reminded with broken words, rhythmic and punctuated by the pleasure that traveled through your veins.
“M’not,” he laughed, his voice was throaty and strained, “you’re the one making the most noise.”
“Cause it feels so good,” you sighed.
“S’the point, baby,” he leaned closer now, caught your lips in his and buckled his hips against yours, deeper and harder until you swore you saw stars.
“Let me feel you,” he begged, adjusting your legs to get as deep as he could, pumping into you harder and harder by the second.
He found release soon after, whispers of your name circled the room and fell back on the sheets by your side, breathless and sweaty.
“Do you think he was watching? Bieber, I mean.” He eyed the poster across the room, let his lips twist into a smirk when you rolled your eyes.
“Goodnight, Harry.”
“Goodnight, Y/N.”

You Say “Mad Scientist” Like It’s A Bad Thing
Based on my own tumblr post: 3am thoughts… Has anyone written Jane Foster as a mad scientist, I mean like a villain?
Chaotic neutral Darcy and Jane featuring modern/human SHIELD Agent Bucky.
Available on AO3.
Content Warnings: Implied/Referenced Torture, Aftermath of Torture, Amnesia, Memory Suppressing Machine | The Chair (Marvel), Dark, Sort Of, Ambiguous/Open Ending...
In a world full of megalomaniacs, straight up supervillains, and fricking aliens, mad scientists were a dime a dozen. Dr Foster was one such scientist who was quickly moving from mildly irritating to SHIELD’s Most Wanted.
Dr Foster’s gimmick was portals. She first gained international attention when she claimed responsibility (via an untraceable Instagram account, @dr-mthrfckng-foster) for diverting LA’s 405 to a dirt road in rural Australia. Then came a string of impossible robberies – bank vaults and the private collections of the world's richest assholes stripped bare in seconds. Then she created a portal that caused an Indonesian typhoon to bear down on Wall Street, flooding the trading floor. And then she robbed a top secret government black site of some classified technology.
And that’s when Director Nick Fury made finding and stopping Dr Foster SHIELD’s number one priority.
Agent James Barnes had been stuck on suspension for two weeks, with two more to go, and was itching to get back into the field. He had way too much free time on his hands: he’d caught up on his sleep and everything in his Netflix queue. He’d cleaned out his refrigerator, done laundry and enough meal prep to last him until next month. He’d caught up with his family, cleaned his whole goddamn apartment twice, and now he was well and truly bored.
He was out for his fifth run of the week (and it wasn’t even Wednesday) when his work phone rang.
“Thank Christ,” he muttered before answering.
“Barnes.”
“It’s Hill. How’s the arm?”
“Fine,” Barnes grunted, rotating his metal shoulder irritably. “You got something for me?”
“Are you up for a recon mission?”
Usually he would have protested. He headed tactical units. He was an elite ‘first through the door’ kind of field agent. Not that he couldn’t be stealthy and patient - he’d been a sniper in the army for christ's sake - but going unnoticed in public was kind of a problem for him these days; he’d have to wear jackets and gloves in the middle of August to hide his prosthetic for starters.
On the other hand, his mother had been calling him every second day to feed him carb-heavy meals in exchange for help around the house, all while dropping not-so-subtle hints that he should start dating again. Requests for more grandchildren couldn’t be far behind.
“I’ll be there in thirty.”
Thirty-five minutes later Agent Barnes was back at his desk at SHIELD HQ perusing through the increasingly large file of one Dr Jane Foster.
She had been a brilliant student and had earned a PhD in Astrophysics from Culver University by the age of 25. By all accounts she should have been one of the leading researchers in her field, and if doctoral programs handed out superlatives Dr Foster’s would have been “Most Likely To Win a Nobel Prize By 30”.
Unfortunately for Dr Foster, and the rest of the world, she had been forced from that path by a sexist tenured professor who publicly denounced her theories, and the woman herself, as crazy, discredited her published work, and used his influence to ensure she was denied all of the more lucrative research grants.
When federal agents went to interview him after the 405 incident they found his office looking like a tornado had gone through it and the professor himself was nowhere to be found. A few weeks later he stumbled into a US Embassy in Russia after being found wandering in from the forests outside Vladivostok, half mad and still decrying the evils of allowing women into scientific fields.
He had been placed into witness protection and promptly admitted into a psychiatric facility under his new name, and was being monitored by several undercover agents in case Dr Foster felt like punishing him some more.
Anyone else who had a part in ruining Dr Foster’s legitimate career was also under surveillance, as was her mother in London, a terrified ex-boyfriend in Boston, and a handful of known associates, though Dr Foster hadn’t been in contact with any of them in years.
SHIELD and other federal agencies had tried the usual methods of tracking down a rogue mad scientist. They tried to find out where her base of operations was, firstly by looking for any properties in her name, but Dr Foster had been a broke student with an impressive amount of debt (until the day she decided to wipe it, and the rest of Culver’s student debt, out). So if she had property it would definitely not be in her legal name and all but impossible to trace back to her. Then they tried to look for drains on the powergrid. However she managed to generate her portals - SHIELD scientists still hadn’t figured that out - it surely had to be using huge amounts of electricity. So far they’d found six grow labs and two server rooms running illegal god-knows-what, but no Dr Foster.
Agent Barnes read the file twice, reviewed all the transcripts of the interviews with her known associates, and came to one very important conclusion: she had an accomplice.
As smart as Dr Foster was there was nothing in her academic history to suggest that she had a background in computer science that would account for the notable hacks and the untraceable nature of her activities. To add to that several interviewees had made passing remarks about her not having a cell phone for most of her academic career, and how she had zero interest in social media.
Two days later, after getting the okay for a field trip from Hill, Agent Barnes made his way to Culver University to speak to anyone who had even the vaguest recollection of Dr Foster. And that’s how he learnt about the intern.
He’d started by dropping by one of the physics labs where Dr Foster had spent most of her time, and by pure chance met a doctoral candidate who remembered her, and her intern.
“I think her name was Darlene. Glasses. Always on her phone.”
…which led him to the academic advisor who put the two of them together...
“Darcy. Darcy Lewis. She was actually a PoliSci major but left it too late and Dr Foster’s internship was the only one available. She had only been working with her for a few weeks before… before Dr Foster’s funding was revoked and she was asked to leave.”
...who pointed him to one of Darcy’s former professors…
“Average student. Good debater. Often late, and always had a coffee in her hand.”
...who gave him a few names of some former classmates who might remember her…
“Not the worst person to be stuck with on a group assignment. Pulled her weight. Obsessed with her stupid iPod.”
“I swear she lived off pop tarts and coffee. And not Starbucks either. Some stupid hipster chain.”
“Deja Brew. Serious problem. Went through one of those loyalty punch cards every week. Always complained about having to go home for the holidays and resort to big chain coffee shops.”
...which had him driving out to Darcy Lewis’ hometown, located a few hours south of Roanoke, Virginia, stopping first at the local high school to speak to the school principal…
“She’d always been good with computers but wasn’t allowed to use them at home for some reason so she spent a lot of time at the local library using theirs. We had to suspend her once. One of her classmates accused her of accepting payment from other students to hack the school’s records and alter their grades. Their grades were definitely getting altered, but we couldn’t get any concrete proof it was her.”
...who was able to find a photo of 16 year old Darcy in an old yearbook and told him what bar he could find Darcy’s mother in.
“She knows not to come to me if she’s in the shit, because I would call the cops in a heartbeat. Especially after that stunt she pulled before she went off to college…”
“What stunt was that, Ms Bennett?” Agent Barnes asked patiently, hoping he wouldn’t have to enable her alcoholism to get some useful information.
“I made some mistakes, okay,” she slurred defensively. “I was having an affair with my boss. Don’t know how Darcy knew. She told her stepfather but he didn’t believe her. Then a few weeks later we went out to dinner for my boss’s birthday... all the tv’s in the bar start showing security camera footage of us falling into offices and motel rooms. Took her all of a minute to ruin two marriages and a law firm.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” he replied diplomatically. “Is there anyone she could turn to for help? Her father, perhaps.”
“He died when she was about twelve. They were as thick as thieves,” she recalled with a tinge of bitterness.
“Was there any place that was special to them? Someone she might go to ground?”
She shook her head. “He used to rent this old cabin near the Catskills off a buddy of his every other year. Winter or summer, Darcy loved it. But it's long gone. Forest fire, I think, the year before his accident.”
Back in his car Agent Barnes reviewed the data points.
Dr Foster had a base of operations somewhere. Had to be private, and as best SHIELD could guess it must be off the grid and Dr Foster must be generating her own power.
Dr Foster was a space nut at heart, and while an abandoned observatory might be too much to ask for, she’d probably want somewhere with minimal light pollution.
And while they could portal anywhere, neither of them spoke any other languages and had no familiarity with any international locations, so they were most likely still State-side. (Dr Foster’s mother had moved to London when Jane was twenty-three, but she’d never found the time to visit.)
Miss Lewis was familiar with the Catskills area. A base of operations there could be very isolated.
Dr Foster was most likely building and modifying her own own equipment so she had to be able to access materials. Sure, she could portal to her local hardware store, but having Darcy drive into the nearest town for supplies would attract less attention.
Miss Lewis had an addiction to coffee procured from Deja Brew, a small hipster chain with only a handful of locations along on the east coast. While she could have found another way to get her caffeine fix, people were creatures of habit.
Miss Lewis was also known for stocking up on poptarts. In one of the only images of the other side of one of Dr Foster’s portals there was what appeared to be, if one squinted, a box of limited edition pop tarts on a counter.
He plugged it all into SHIELD fancy search engines and got a few results back. The most promising was an abandoned ski chalet turned abandoned research station halfway up a mountain, an hour drive away from an up and coming tourist town, whose main street hosted a Deja Brew cafe. They also had a small mom and pop hardware store, as well as a post office, and a grocery store that had still been selling pumpkin pie pop tarts around the time Dr Foster’s portal had been caught on camera.
Agent Barnes came to with a groan. The flesh of his shoulder where it met his prosthetic felt like it was on fire, and he was pretty sure he could smell fried wiring.
The research station had come up in SHIELD’s initial search for a potential mad scientist's lair, but had been dismissed for not using any power and for not sending back any heat signature readings. Perhaps they’d found a way to fool the scanners. Or maybe they just weren’t in the day the readings were taken. Whatever the reason, Agent Barnes had a good feeling about it. He filled his tank up at the nearest gas station and got on the highway, forgoing checking in at the Triskelion on his way past in favour of driving all night. He’d call Hill when he had something solid.
** *** **
“Fuck…”
He willed his eyes open and came face to face with Darth Vader.
Barnes reeled back at the sound of the synthesized voice. “Who sent you? Who do you work for?! The Rebellion?”
“What the fuck!”
It took him until his eyes adjusted to the fluorescent lighting to realise that Darth Vader was wearing a grey knit dress and black tights. Darth Vader laughed and ripped off his mask to reveal a smiling bespectacled brunette underneath. The accomplice. Darcy Lewis.
“Sorry, I was just messing with you, dude,” she teased, tossing the mask over her shoulder. “I’ve always wanted to do that. But seriously, who do you work for? Who knows you’re here?”
“I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about,” he lied. “I was just camping in the woods, man. I saw the lights and decided to check it out,” he rambled in a lazy Canadian accent. “How the hell did I get here? Did you electrocute me?”
He used his not-quite fake panic to test the limits of his restraints. He’d been strapped into some sort of junkstore barber chair, with thick metal shackles locked around his wrists, ankles, and chest. His metal arm could probably make quick work of them but the damn thing was not responding. His panic became a little less fake.
“Just camping, huh?” she echoed back with a raised eyebrow, leaning forward to the point where Barnes couldn’t avoid getting a good look down her top and the 15-carat pink diamond (worth about 40mil and reported stolen in one of Dr Foster’s vault heists two months ago) hanging around her neck. “So that wasn’t you poking around town this morning?” she asked pointedly, drawing his attention to the wall of monitors he hadn’t noticed showing various street cameras around the town. “I’ve got eyes and ears everywhere, dude. You got into town bright and early in a beat up looking truck with plates that didn’t exist two weeks ago and started flashing my yearbook photo around. So, who do you work for?”
He levelled his best steely-eyed agent stare at her and switched back to his native pissed-off Brooklynite accent. “I ain’t tellin you shit, sweetheart.”
“C’mon now,” she cooed, taking a seat on his lap. “Who do you work for? FBI? Interpol? SHIELD? Crawford County Library Services? Listen, I was totally going to return Eat Pray Love, but we had to skip town in a hurry and it got lost in the move. I will totally pay to replace it.”
Years of training (and regular poker games with the Black Widow) had taught him to school his features, even if that last one threw him for a loop.
“Nothing? You sure you don’t want to talk to me? Fine,” she whined. “Jane!”
It was only then that Barnes switched his focus from his captor to his surroundings and realised that there was another occupant puttering about on the other side of the large telescope that took pride of place on a hydraulic platform underneath the research station's retractable roof. The infamous Dr Foster.
“Jane!”
“What?” came the irritated reply.
“Come over here and practise your monologue. Look! You’ve got a captive audience and everything!” she announced, laughing at her own joke.
“I don’t have time, Darcy,” the disgruntled voice argued.
“Hey! I spent two days writing up that monologue, the least you can do is spend twenty-five minutes reading it out loud so I can make sure it doesn’t make you sound too much like a cartoon villain.”
“Twenty-five minutes?! Are you kidding me?” Dr Foster stormed out from behind the telescope to wave a wrench at her assistant. She looked less put together than her ID photo, appearing to be long overdue for both a shower and a nap. “I’m in the middle of something. I’ve almost figured the problem with the mobile portal generator, and… Darcy, why is there a man tied to a chair in my lab?”
“This man?” Darcy snorted, taking Barnes’s chin in her hands and wiggling it about. “This is the intruder. You remember the intruder alert, like fifteen minutes ago? Lots of flashing lights and alarms? Well, I found this guy passed out on the lawn. For most people, hitting my force field would be like getting lightly tased, but this bad boy,” she continued, tapping a fingernail against his dead metal arm, “meant you ended up getting the full 50,000 volts to your heart. Thanks for letting me practice my CPR by the way,” she added with a wink.
“It’s not a force field, Darcy. It’s a glorified invisible pet fence, upsized and modified so it reacts to the electrical impulses in the human body.”
“It keeps people out; I’m calling it a force field.”
This was definitely the weirdest interrogation he had endured by a large margin, Barnes mused as he followed their bickering like a pingpong game.
“Who is he, Darcy?” Jane sighed wearily. “What is he doing here?”
“Fiiiine. Janey, meet Agent James Barnes of SHIELD.”
“What?! SHIELD?!!”Jane screeched. “Why did you bring him here?”
“He found us, Jane. What was I supposed to do?”
“Something other than bringing him inside our secret hideout.”
“I am not killing him and burying him in the woods; I just did my nails.”
Jane scowled, turning the full force of her overtired fury on James. “Why can’t you SHIELD issue jackbooted thugs just leave me alone? Can’t you understand how important my work is? I am challenging the very foundations of modern science - of the laws of the universe! I am on the verge of a breakthrough! And if you or Nick Fury think you can stop me, you’ve got another thing coming!”
Before his mouth could betray him and ask how the hell they knew his boss Darcy spoke up.
“A little off script, but I like the energy, Jane. Very much the mad scientist vibe we’re going for. But next time, try not to make it so personal – we’ve got to hide the target of our frustrations, remember? Instead of saying “SHIELD” say “government”, instead of saying “Nick Fury” say “president”.”
“Right, right,” Jane nodded absently, tapping the side of her head with the wrench she had just been waving around like a weapon.
“Now, go back to work. I’ll handle this.”
“Okay, thanks Darce. Oh, have you seen my soldering iron around?”
“It’s in the locked cabinet because you’re not allowed to use it unsupervised, you know that. Gimme ten minutes, I’ll bring it to you.”
Jane wandered back to her side of the observatory, muttering under her breath, leaving Barnes at Darcy’s mercy.
“She’s not the criminal mastermind here, is she?” he wondered, his eyes roaming over the strange cupcake of a woman in his lap.
“Not exactly,” Darcy admitted. “I mean, it’s not like she set out to be a mad scientist. I kind of rebranded her after that little freeway incident.”
“Rebranded?”
“Yeah. She was in a bad way after New Mexico and then when the first live test of her portal engine went a little sideways I didn’t want dudebros on the internet coming after her, so I changed the narrative. Instead of ‘girl scientist makes mistake, should stick to making sandwiches’ I changed it to ‘Dr Foster, genius astrophysicist, causes chaos, totally on purpose.’”
“And all those robberies?”
“I may have encouraged that. I’m all for sticking it to the one percenters, and Jane needed to fund her experiments somehow,” she added with a shrug.
“So Jane’s the absent-minded professor and you’re the brains behind this operation, huh?”
Darcy laughed and slid out of his lap causing a distracting amount of friction. “I’m really not. So you, Coulson, and Fury should be really, really scared.”
“How do you know those names?” he had to know, cover be damned.
“You don’t know? Of course you don’t,” she huffed. “Fury and his clearance levels. I’d tell you to ask him about New Mexico sometime, but you’re not going to be able to.”
“Why not? What are you going to do to me?” Barnes fretted, unable to ignore the sinking feeling that he was in big trouble; she wouldn’t have told him anything if she intended on letting him walk out of here.
“Oh, relax. I’m not going to kill you. I’m just gonna scramble your brain a little.”
She circled his chair, flipping switches as she went, and something behind him started humming ominously.
“So, admittedly I didn’t major in hard sciences. I had an ex who did, but he also fancied himself something of a cat burglar, so when he went to jail I liberated all his college textbooks and gave myself a crash course in electrical engineering. And it helped that those HYDRA designs were really easy to follow.”
“HYDRA?” Barnes cursed.
HYDRA had been the scientific branch of the Nazi regime and believed that discovery required (human) experimentation. They were supposedly eradicated at the end of WWII but Project Paperclip saved some of HYDRA’s greatest minds, giving them immunity in exchange for their genius. If Foster or, more worryingly, Darcy had aligned themselves with some surviving HYDRA faction the results could be catastrophic.
“Yeah, I found them in that SHIELD warehouse when we recovered Jane’s stolen research.”
“What are you talking about?”
“They just call it ‘The Chair’, which is totally not creepy at all,” she continued as if he hadn’t spoken. “And this is the Halo,” she added, drawing Barnes’s attention to the whirring circle of metal that was lowering itself over his head.
“What the hell are you doing?” he shouted, renewing his efforts to break free of his restraints. “Get that piece of scrap metal the fuck away from me!”
“Hey! Don’t mock my work. It may look like I raided a junkyard for the components - and I did - but my welding game is on point. It’s totally safe. Mostly safe. It’s just going to send focused electrical pulses to your…” she paused to consult some smudged writing on her hand, “hippocampus and prefrontal cortex.”
The Halo stopped moving and two metal plates extended, pressing against the sides of his head, holding it like a vice.
“Please… don’t do this,” he begged as she approached him with a rubber mouthguard.
“C’mon, open wide. You don’t want to end up braindead and unable to chew your food,” she jested, waving the thing in front of him. “Oh, just one question before I fry your brain,” she added just when he was about to give in. “How did you find us? I was so careful,” she whined.
Agent Barnes, terrified as he was, still managed to look smug at his small, short lived success. “Deja Brew coffee.”
“Curses!” she wailed theatrically. “Betrayed by my one true love!”
Darcy huffed and quickly returned her attention to the matter at hand.
“Thanks for that,” she said with a smile as she forced him to bite down on the mouthguard. “I’ll know better for next time. Start making my own coffee at home… but it never tastes as good,” she muttered to herself.
She stepped away from him and bent down to pick up a similarly frankensteined industrial remote with long wires snaking back to the chair and a clichéd big red button at its centre. He began struggling anew, screaming around the foul tasting rubber, begging for mercy.
She took great delight in his terrified expression and put on her best supervillain voice, “Give my regards to Nick Fury.”
Nick Fury observed his agent from behind a two way mirror as he sat behind a table in an interrogation room. Barnes had been sitting there for the past hour as still as a statue, except for his unfocused eyes which flitted about the room.
In true horror movie fashion, Agent Barnes’ screams echoed down the mountainside like an avalanche, sending animals fleeing in terror for miles around.
** *** **
Local LEO’s had found him wandering aimlessly down a stretch of highway just outside the ruins of what had previously been Puente Antiguo, New Mexico, and ten minutes after they ran his prints Agent Romanoff had been on a quinjet to collect him. She’d been directed to the nearest hospital and found him sitting up on a bed but not responding or reacting to any of the medical staff as they buzzed around him. Agent Romanoff took a cautious step forward and held her breath as his unfocused eyes settled on her.
“Hello James...”
An excruciating minute later the veil lifted and he attempted a smile.
“Hey Tasha.”
She’d brought him back to base and dragged him to SHIELD’s medical bay for more tests - not that Barnes put up much of a fight, in fact he was terrifyingly compliant. The SHIELD doctors confirmed what the New Mexico doctors suspected: the bruising and electrical burns around his temples and his memory loss were indicative of some back alley version of electroshock therapy. His memories should come back in time - how long was anybody’s guess - but for the moment Agent James Barnes had no memory of the last four weeks.
Fury picked up a tablet with depressingly little information on its screen and stepped into the room, waiting for Barnes eyes to focus on him before taking a seat.
“Agent Barnes.”
“Director.”
“I know you’re probably sick of questions by now, but I have a few more for you, if that’s alright.”
“Yeah, sure…”
It rankled Fury to no end how meak and passive Barnes seemed. Heaven help him, he missed the argumentative sonofabitch.
“What’s the last thing you remember?”
“Being called into your office.”
“What for?”
“I punched Rumlow.”
“Why?”
“He was bragging about taking advantage of a drunk woman at a club when he was last on leave. He didn’t like me calling out his shitty behaviour. He punched me, I punched him back.”
Fury sighed. He hadn't gotten a straight answer out of Barnes at the time of the incident and he couldn’t feel happy about getting one now.
“Do you remember what happened once I called you into my office?”
His brow creased and his eyes zipped back and forth like the carriage of a printer as his mind searched for the elusive memory.
“You suspended me?”
“I did,” Fury confirmed. “For a whole month. But two weeks into it I pulled you in for a special assignment.”
Barnes tensed, shrinking in on himself. The confusion about his lost time seemed to be the only thing that got under his skin, but only when someone brought it up. Once the moment passed he forgot to be concerned about it.
Fury took pity on him. “For the past two weeks I had you running down leads on the whereabouts of Dr Jane Foster.”
“The scientist with the portals? Did she do this to me?”
“It’s not exactly her MO, but then again no law enforcement agency’s ever managed to have a confrontation with her. Never had the chance. Those portals of hers let her keep at a distance. You might have been the first person to have a face to face with her, but I can’t confirm it because I don’t know where the hell you were when this happened,” he grumbled, letting a little more of his usual exasperated tone filter through. “You missed check in by two days. The last we heard from you, you were at Culver running down leads on what you said was a potential accomplice. We found your car in Tromso, Norway, a day after you were found on the side of a road in New Mexico. You don’t appear on any security footage or speed cameras in the area. There’s no activity on your work or personal credit cards. Your activity logs on our highly secure system for the last two weeks are nonexistent, as are your call logs on your work phone. Even the messages you sent Romanoff from your personal phone complaining about your assignment have since been deleted - from her phone too. She’s real pissed about it. As far as your digital footprint is concerned you disappeared from a gas station outside Roanoke, Virginia, last week - do you know how weird it is to know you were headed out towards a place called Roanoke only to up and vanish?” He sighed at Barnes’ painful silence. “Is there anything you can remember, anything at all about Dr Foster or her accomplice? Anything that will help us catch up to you without talking to everyone on campus to figure out what you discovered?”
Barnes’ brow creased in painful confusion.
“I think… I think I saw Darth Vadar.”
Director Fury blinked. “Right…” He took a deep breath to stop himself from venting his frustrations at Barnes, the sorry bastard looked like a kicked puppy as it was. Instead he got up and tapped the tablet against the metal tabletop harder than strictly necessary. “Well, I’ll just go put out a BOLO out for Darth Vadar then.”
“Okay,” Barnes murmured, and promptly zoned out again.
Agent Romanoff exited the viewing room looking uncharacteristically unsettled.
“I want a full detail on him at all times,” Fury ordered as he stormed off towards the elevators. Hill had just stepped off and was looking even more grim than usual. “Until his memories come back he’s vulnerable, and once they do he’ll be a target.”
“I’ll get a STRIKE team on it. Not Rumlow’s.”
“Get another one along with any assets currently not on assignment. Flood that campus, interrogate everybody. I wanna know who the hell Dr Foster’s accomplice is, and I wanna know yesterday. Understood?”
“I think we might have more pressing concerns, sir,” Hill reported, tapping at her tablet as it beeped erratically. “Coulson’s said there’s an issue with the Tesseract. Dr. Selvig read an energy surge from it fifteen minutes ago.”
“NASA didn't authorise Selvig to test phase,” he grunted, taking the tablet from Hill.
“He wasn't testing it, he wasn't even in the room. Spontaneous advancement.”
“Motherfucker.”

Have You Found What You’re Looking For? | (HS Athlete!Frankie Morales x Yearbook Photographer!Reader)
Chapter Two: Let’s Fall In Love For The Night
Reader and Frankie have their after school “date”.
Word Count: 1.3K
TW: Mentions of Sex, Mentions of Drugs, Mentions of High Sex, No Smut, KINDA CHEESY THOUGH NGL
Part One
You could never tell -anyone- about your little date with Frankie Morales, especially the newspaper staff. If you guys ran a gossip page...? This would have been all over the front cover.
February 1st | 4:33pm
“So… the Yearbook, huh? How’s it coming along?” He asked, taking a drink from his energy drink and wiping his mouth.
The two of you had decided on a small sandwich shop near the school.
“It’s pretty much done, actually… In its final stages before we print.” You explained.
“Yeah? What about the newspaper? Anything exciting?” He asked.
“You tell me! You don’t read your own school newspaper, Morales?” You joked, nobody ever read it.
His head fell forward in defeat as he ate a potato chip.
“I’m a busy man!” He argued.
“So I’ve heard!” You retorted, laughing.
“Yeah? What is it that you’ve heard about me?” He raised his eyebrows as he stole a french fry from your plate.
“I… It was a joke.” You claimed, not wanting to come off as rude.
“Y/N… I hear the rumors too, you know… Even if they are about me.” He said, showing an indifference to the matter.
“Is that all they are… I mean… rumors?” You asked curiously, though you weren’t sure why you cared.
“Are you asking as a friend?” He asked, now looking sad, maybe nervous about confronting the rumors and opening up to you about the truth.
“Of course...” You reassured him, placing your hands on his between the two of you.
He met your eyes and for a second, you felt like he was real. Everything you thought you knew about him faded away.
You cared about him, more than you wanted to admit. You always had.
“Which rumors are we talking about?” He started.
“I’ll tell you anything you want to know… I don’t mind. I want you to know me… the real Frankie.” He explained sincerely.
Maybe he cared about you too.
“Did you- uhm- really get accepted to Duke? I mean… you’re the best player in the county, I’m sure you did.”
He laughed, “So, you think highly of me? One of few, Y/L/N... I’ll give you that.”
He took another sip of his drink before speaking again, “But, no, Florida State, actually. I’m moving out there in May… they want me to start training as soon as possible for the season.” He told you.
“May?” You asked. “Before graduation?” You tried not to sound disappointed.
“Yeah… It wasn’t the best deal to make… but I didn’t have any other options.” He scratched his stubble.
You imagined what he looked like without it.
“Y/N?” He snapped his fingers in front of your face, pulling you from your thoughts.
“Sorry… I just- I can’t believe you won’t be here for graduation.” You let your emotions show.
He leaned back in his seat and watched your sad eyes as you played with your napkin.
“Just means we have to make the most of the time we have left, right?” He proposed.
You gave him a smile as you nodded.
“C’mon, let’s take a walk! I’ll tell you anything else you want to know.” He told you, standing up and extending his hand out to you.
How could you say no to him?
-
“So… the cheerleaders… have you actually… you know…” You joked shyly as the two of you made it to the playground down the street.
You’d walked a couple laps around the park before deciding to sit somewhere. Frankie laughed at your question.
“Have I actually what?” He pried.
“Well! You know…” You said again.
“Actually, Y/N, I don’t.” He bluffed.
“Morales! You said you’d tell me anything.” You smacked his shoulder as the two of you sat on the swingset.
“Okay, okay! Fine! No, I haven’t… Except...” He started to say.
“Except?” You pried.
“It may be a possibility that I… you know… with one of them.” He admitted awkwardly.
“Yeah? That’s not too bad, nothing to be embarrassed over.” You assured him.
“Thing is… I… Well- I was high, it was a mistake. Nothing good came from it.” He admitted, sharing a piece of himself that you were sure he had never told anyone before.
“I didn’t know, I’m sorry.” You offered.
“Don’t be… I mean, how could you have known? I don’t even think she knew.” He told you, pain evident in his voice.
“Do you still do that… get high I mean?” You asked cautiously, knowing you may be overstepping.
“I-” He was cut off by one of his teammates walking by the playground.
“Fish! Caught another one did you?” They joked to him.
“Fuck off, Benny!” He retorted.
You laughed.
“Fish? What kind of nickname is that?” You quipped.
He laughed.
“That’s another story for another time, Y/N… I gotta get home soon, my mom will kill me if she doesn’t know where I am.” He explained.
“Okay… we should uhm- do this again sometime?” You proposed nervously.
“No kidding, you’re the best company I’ve had in months...It uh- means a lot that you gave me a chance.” He acknowledged.
You smiled as you got up and offered him your hand to help him off the swing.
“I’ll walk you back to your car before I head home.” He sweetly offered, picking up his backpack.
“Morales! You gotta get home! I can handle myself.” You promised him, flashing your small bottle of pepper spray attached to your keychain.
“Atta girl, come here.” He pulled you in for a hug.
“Thank you… I mean it.” He spoke quietly.
You smiled and slowly pulled away from the hug, lingering inches from his face.
“I’ll… see you tomorrow… Fish.” You giggled.
He humoredly sighed, “Please, call me Frankie!”
-
8:47pm
As you were getting ready to settle in for the night, your father opened your door and held the house phone out to you.
“There’s a call for you, says he’s someone named… Fish? You know him?”
You laughed and took the phone from his hands.
“Yes, dad. He’s a friend from school.” You explained, shooing him away with your hand kindly.
Once he was gone, you held the phone to your ear.
“Frankie?” You asked.
“Hey, Y/N… Sorry to call so late.” He apologized.
“No! No worries, what’s up? How did you even get my number?” You laughed again.
“Friends of friends… I just… I wouldn’t have gone searching for it if it wasn’t important.” He explained.
“Okay… So, what is it?” You questioned, getting nervous now.
“Well… You know there’s that Valentine’s Day dance coming up next week… All the guys have dates and I wasn’t gonna go, but…” He cut himself off.
“You don’t have to come with me if that’s- I know you probably don’t like those kinds of things.” He spoke softly.
He was right… You weren’t in love with school dances. You’d covered enough of them for the Yearbook over the years that you’d be happy to never attend one again… But somehow… You were compelled to say yes.
Though, you had to interrupt his babbling to get him to listen to you.
“Frankie! I’ll go, okay? We can go. I’d love to be your date.” The words hit you as you said them outloud.
“What- really?” He asked in disbelief.
“Of course… Only for the popularity points…” You joked.
“Oh, come on!” You laughed together.
After a few seconds of silence, he spoke again.
“You know something?” He started.
“Hm?” You questioned.
“I’ve heard a rumor that it only takes one night to fall for me…”
Due to personal experience, you didn’t doubt it.
“Oh yeah, what if I said the same for myself?” You joked.
“I guess we’ll just have to see, Y/L/N.” Frankie challenged.
“I- uhm- gotta go though, my mom wants me to hang up the phone, but I… I look forward to falling in love with you... for the night, of course.”
You felt your chest ache at the last part.
“Right back at you, Morales.”
Though you were pretty sure you already had...

"Hi." You froze. "I'm (Y/N)."
"Nice to meet you." She smiled warmly. "How do you know Taeyong."
"Oh we're old friends."
"Of course, you went to this school. Such a shame what's happening."
You just nodded awkwardly as Taeyong was distracting himself from something in the distance. He was uncomfortable as much as you.
"I better help my mom, but it was nice to meet you." You said and quickly took off.
"I can't do this. I should of never come." You panicked as you made it over to your sister.
"Whats wrong?" She asked.
"His fiancé is here."
Your sister followed your eyes. "Oh shit, he's engaged?" She laughed but didn't realize how it was effecting you. "What's wrong it's been 6 years since you both were together."
"I know it's crazy but I think I still have feeling for him and I probably fucked up everything last night."
"Wait-"
"Girls come help me with these." Your mother was calling you over.
"What happened?" Your sister was trying to get it out of you while heading over to your mother.
"I can't tell you here. Later."
"These are being sent to the board, so put these in his box." Your mother handed you some plaques of different achievements.
....
"Ooo, your year book." Taeyong and his fiancé were helping out in the library and she happened to find the 2014 class yearbook. "Can't wait to see how handsome my man was."
Taeyong just turned his back going through another shelf not fazed. He couldn't stop thinking about you and last night. He couldn't help himself from smiling at how beautiful you have become.
"You were prom King? You didn't tell me you were popular. I mean I could of guessed but..." She laughed to herself. She flipped through more pages seeing you and Taeyong together more and more. "Wait a minute? That girl from earlier is your ex?"
"Taeyong?" She raised her voice getting his attention.
"What?" She held up the book stating the obvious.
"What's your point? I don't ask you about your ex's." He shrugged.
"Looks like you guys are still close?" She said getting annoyed.
"We've only seen each other for the first time yesterday in 6 years." He said then turned back towards his books.
She didn't pressure him any further since the atmosphere was tense.
....
"Come on, lets take a break. There's plenty of food from last night." Your mother said. "So have you caught up with Taeyong last night?"
"Yeah." You smiled sarcastically not really wanting to talk about it.
"I can't believe he's engaged. I was hoping the sparks were still there-"
"Mom.....please let's stay out of their business. Okay." Your sister looked at you with concern.
"She's not even that pretty." Your sister whispered as she bumped you with her elbow.
"Not nice." The fact was that she was EXTREMELY pretty. She was clean and priss and she seemed to have her life together.
....
You were taking your old prize winners (paintings) to your car, clearly struggling to the car as your mother and sister were way ahead of you.
You took a deep breath as you stopped for a second to take a breather.
"Let me help you." He took the canvas off your hands and you finally could see in front of you at the handsome face that still caused butterflies.
"Thank you. I don't even know why I'm taking this old junk." There was a huge dumpster to clean out the school and you were just tempted to toss the old embarrassment but your mother insisted on keeping them as a reminder of how far you've come.
"It's not junk (Y/N)." He chuckled and looked behind him losing his smile. "Actually I was wondering if we could talk about last night? How long are you staying?" He said more quietly.
"Well a few days the most. But I can't stay away from work for that long."
"You want to go out for dinner tonight. Jaehyun and Mark are here for the weekend."
"Hanging out with your bro's like old times? Huh?" You teased.
"Also Johnny and Ren will be there as well since they are engaged-"
"Johnny is her new fiancé? They hated each other."
"I guess they just had sexual attraction for each other."
"I see." You giggled.
"May I keep this?" He was referring to your old painting.
"It's all yours." You laughed at his ridiculous question.
"See you later." He walked away leaving to travel back alone.
....
"How do I look?" Your sister said as you finally finished your sketch.
"Beautiful." You turned your book around.
"Wow. I look so cute." She smiled. "May I keep it?"
"Sure." You rolled your eyes as you tore out the page out of your sketch book.
"Have you ever thought about selling your art work on eBay? I saw it on tik tok."
"You and that app are driving me crazy." You giggled.
"I get bidders at the gallery, they're just all cheapskates in the city." You continued.
"Your art deserves more credit. You should be making MILLIONS." Your sister was over dramatic like usual.
"Unfortunately that doesn't happen to an artist until their dead." Your sister pouted at your dark response.
"You're no fun. But anyway are you and Taeyong hanging out tonight? Did I hear dinner?"
"It's a friendly get together and it's not just me, it's with some old friends."
"Okay." She smirked. "Just be careful."
You sat there to think. Not just what your sister said but over everything. Last night was a mistake and you had to straighten it out. If Taeyong was happy with his fiancé, you couldn't ruin it for your own selfishness.
...
You decided on a simple black dress with a denim jacket and doc martens and you waited outside for your Uber driver and before you know it you were standing outside the restaurant, too scared to even go in.
"(Y/N)! Oh my god!" You heard screaming and all of a sudden you were being crushed by two pairs of arms. Once you got to turn around and make contact, you were faced with a pink hair Ren.
You hugged her back tightly as you both screamed causing Johnny to plug his ears. "How are you?"
"I'm great, how are you?" You responded. "Your hair is pink."
"My hair is pink. I didn't think you could get more gorgeous, you suck Miss Prom Queen." She laughed.
"You're gorgeous. And you're engaged I hear....to him?" You looked at Johnny with a teasing look.
"I know, it's insane." She laughed.
"So where were you last night?" You asked.
"I don't care about some dumb school reunion. I had better things to do." She continued. "Come on let's get inside. It's freezing."
You followed her and Johnny inside ready to begin your night. You took a deep breath as you saw Taeyong looking beautiful as ever. You can do this. You can be just friends right?
There was a few more of his friends already at the table as well once the host assisted you.
"(Y/N)! How's it going I haven't seen you in forever." Mark was the first to get up and hug you.
"Where were you guys last night? I missed you." You said still embraced in his arms and eventually made your way around to Jaehyun and Doyoung.
"I couldn't make it and these guys had their own reunion." Mark said taking his seat.
"We already got a lecture from Dayoung." Ren said as you sat down between her and Taeyong.
"Speaking of Dayoung, where is she?" You asked.
"She was gonna come but she's having a lot of back pain so she rather stay home."
"When is her baby due?" You continued to ask since you lacked information from your old friends.
"December 7."
"That's just a little over a month." You couldn't believe she was that pregnant.
"I know." She laughed. "But she might be sooner then that, her baby is already 8lbs."
"Can I get you something to drink." The waitress was finally here cutting off your conversation.
"Soju?" Johnny asked and everyone agreed. You on the other hand rather stick with a simple water but your friends insisted and you didn't want to seem lame now you were older.
....
"You idiot, you were the reason we got caught skipping 4th period." Ren and Mark were arguing non stop and the alcohol on top was causing more of a scene but the rest of you were laughing, enjoying the show.
"Was not. You were the one that went to the wrong car."
"You said it was your car."
"No I said it looked like my car."
"Will you two just shut up." Doyoung took another sip.
"Shall we get going soon? I rather talk to you alone." Taeyong spoke quietly next to you, only you can hear.
You nodded. "Alright guys, we're going to head out." Taeyong pulled out his wallet and tossed cash on the table.
"Where are you two going?" Ren pouted.
"I promised (Y/N) I'd drive her home and I don't want to be out later then Jiyoon gets out of work." He made a concerned expression.
"You two still fighting?" Mark asked as you and Taeyong got up.
"It's every little thing with her, but she's been better." He nodded.
"Alright man, take care.....you to (Y/N) it was nice seeing you." You both said your goodbyes.
"Promised me a ride?" You teased your tone being flirtier then you wanted.
"Well, I needed to talk to you about last night. Alone." He began as he guided you to his car.
You bit your lip awkwardly, wanting to avoid the whole thing. You wanted to just pretend it didn't happen and move on.
You got in the car waiting for him to begin but he was just as uncomfortable as you. "Are you alright to drive?"
"I only had one shot. I feel fine." He looked at you leaning your head on the seat. "What about you?"
"I'm not driving." You looked at him confused.
"No I mean, how are you?" He laughed. "You good." He waved his hand in front of your face.
You laughed smacking his hand away playfully. "I only had two shots."
You both laughed until the car filled with silence as he finally took off.
"Do you ever miss being back here?" He asked.
"A little. But I love where I live."
"So you have no thoughts on moving back?" You were surprised from his sudden question.
"No. I mean I love my family but I live in my dream home now.....well....a nicer apartment would be nice." You giggled not realizing the car stopped outside of your house.
"Do I have to wait another six years to see you?" He asked turning the mood down again. "I want us to stay friends (Y/N)."
"We can. We can FaceTime and-"
"So until you're back for the holidays?"
"I really can't afford to visit, that's why I don't.....If I sell a piece, I get $1000 the most and that only goes to my bills and food-"
"I get it (Y/N). It's okay. I just miss you that's all." You both made eye contact and you could feel the pain he was holding.
"We left things off, really shitty." You started. "Especially me."
"You were hurt, I get it." He shrugged.
"I just want to apologize......And also apologize for last night. It was wrong and I'm sorry for everything." You continued. "Just seeing that room........you, I missed my old life."
"I just.....I don't want to leave thinking I caused so much chaos. It's probably just best if we pretend it didn't happen. You're fiancé seems to be really nice and I just want you guys to be happy."
"You're right." He said causing your lip to tremble. You knew he was thinking the same thing, you didn't know why it was so unexpected.
"R-right, exactly."
"It was wrong." You nodded. "But that doesn't mean I want to pretend it didn't happen."
"Taeyong I want you to understand my intentions.....I don't want to-"
You were cut off with his lips attached to yours. Your heart was beating faster then it ever was before. What was he doing? You were hesitant to responde but there was comfort with his lips. A feeling only he could cause. He gently caressed his hand around your neck bringing you closer as the kiss deepened.
The kiss grew more desperate quickly as he pulled you to straddle his lap. He had his hands under your dress caressing your thighs. You couldn't help but rock against him causing more friction between the both of you. He moaned against your lips from by the way you effected him. You had to pull away to catch your breath but quickly leaned down farther to kiss down his jaw.
He pushed your jacket down and letting it fall behind you, hitting the wheel as you were taking your time with his buttons letting more of his chest to be exposed.
He brought his lips back towards yours before he was working on the top of your dress letting it fall off your chest exposing your strapless bra. He was quick to kiss down your chest letting your bra fall more uncomfortably. You could feel him full erected underneath you as you were still rocking against him.
His breathing became heavier that he stopped what he was doing to lean his head against the back of the seat for a second. He looked you in the eyes before they drifted down focusing on your undies. You lifted yourself to help take them off as you began to unbuckle his pants. You gently took him in your hand and slowly jerked him only enough to lubricate. You leaned forward guiding him in and relaxed as you could adjust.
His muffled sounds were so beautiful as you began your movements. The pleasure was unreal. You only wish it was only a dream, to save you from trouble. You knew it was wrong but why couldn't you stop?
You leaned down kissing him passionately as you quickened your pace. Once you lifted for air, you grabbed his hands leading them to your chest. You tilted your head back enjoying the pleasure.
As you felt like you were lost in your own world, he grabbed your hips helping you keep the rhythm. You moved your hand to the front of your folds to guide your climax closer to the edge. Just as you were about to release, he beat you to it causing the room to spin. You felt numbness scattered throughout your body.
You collapse on top of his body as you both could catch your breath. You felt happy at the moment, like you didn't want to move but the guilt came rushing back causing you quickly run away. You got yourself redressed as Taeyong looked at you with concern.
"This was a mistake." You felt your eyes water. Taeyong was quick to dress as well from you being so upset. "I shouldn't have come back here."
"I'm sorry Taeyong but we can't see each other anymore, not even as friends." You were panicked.
"(Y/N) this is my dumb mistake too."
"Unless you're ending it with your fiancé, I can't be in the picture no more." You looked at him for a response but he looked down staying silent.
"Okay then. Goodbye."
He grabbed your hand before you could leave the car. "You're just upset. Can we talk about this tomorrow?"
"No because as long as we're alone together I can't help my feelings around you and that's not fair for your fiancé."
"I can't anymore." You finally left his car and quickly made your way inside. Why were you so weak?
-
You've done it again. You had to leave as soon as possible, the guilt was killing you.
"You leaving?" Your sister asked as she saw you packing your bag.
"Yeah, Haejin called me and said I'm needed back at work." You lied.
"Oh." She pouted.
"Aren't you leaving? You have school tomorrow."
"I'm leaving tonight." She was lucky she had a car.
"A few more years and you can live with me." You winked.
"Sure." She smiled.
"There's one more thing I want to do before I go, can I borrow the car?" She nodded and you quickly left so you can go back home.
You stopped at a cute little townhouse village and followed the number Mark gave you. You just hoped it wasn't some random address giving you more chances not to trust him. You knocked on the door and waited until someone finally answered it, causing your stomach to drop.
"Oh hi (Y/N)." Jiyoon smiled at you but it didn't feel very genuine.
"Hi. I'm leaving I just wanted to say goodbye to Taeyong." You said sweetly.
"Taeyong is at work unfortunately." She shrugged.
"Oh. Just let him know I said goodbye and oh yeah....congratulations for you two."
"Thank you. We still don't know our date but it's probably the beginning of next year the latest."
"Can I be honest with you (Y/N)?" You looked at her confused. "I know you and Taeyong were very serious and I can't help but feel a little uncomfortable with you two still being close."
"I'm sorry you feel that way." You looked at her with concern to hide the fact you really wanted to pull her hair out.
"I have bad experiences with ex's too and I have to compromise for Tae so I'm sorry if I make him do the same thing."
"You have nothing to worry about. I live in Seoul."
"Oh that's great." She smiled at you once again and it seemed more fake then before. "I hope you don't get offended if I don't invite you to our wedding."
"I'm sorry but is Taeyong okay with that?" You finally showed your real expressions.
"He'll understand."
"Taeyong and I split up 6 years ago."
"Like I said compromise."
"Maybe I should talk to Taeyong about this?"
"I'll doubt he'll talk to you."
"Why's that?" You crossed your arms.
"I don't know. He just seemed pissed off at you after he came home last night. He even tossed your painting in our garbage. Did you want it back?" Fake fake fake.
"I'm sorry to hear that, I'm not sure why.....Have a great day....." You walked back to the car. "Bitch."
You didn't know what to believe. He could be upset the way you left last night but on the other hand he seemed more upset then angry. Was she lying? The best thing was to just get back home and that's what you did.
The train seemed longer then on your way there, probably from your lack of sleep that eat up the time last time. You couldn't get Taeyong out of your head. Even if she was lying, it was still clean you weren't invited to the wedding. How messed up is that?
The worst part of it all was you never got the chance to ask for Taeyong's cell number. You couldn't imagine him having the same phone from 6 years ago.
You got off the train, being greeted by Haejin. "I never missed you so much in my life."
"So how was everything?"
"Terrible." She looked at you concerned as you got in her car. "I did something really bad."
"I saw my high school sweetheart again."
"Okay?" Haejin listened.
"And we kind of slept together.....twice."
"What's wrong with that?" Haejin winked.
"He's engaged.....and the worst part is I still have feelings for him."

also I’ve been getting so many messages saying stuff along the lines of “I thought you were a timothee chalamet blog??! why haven’t you written for him?” & “i don’t read your stuff anymore it’s not timmy chalamet” I am super hella done with messages like this. yes I write for timothee chalamet the most but I still do have other interests. I write what I will enjoy writing the most, because when I’m not interested in what I’m writing the entire piece turns into garbage. I will continue to write for timmy chalamet, but I will continue to also write for other people and tv shows/movies/WHATEVER THE HELL I WANT. :) if this upsets you then feel free to stop reading my stuff. thank you for understanding. xx

WOW. That was long, anyway onto the Monty smut ;) also someone to you by the banners makes me think of Monty :( I miss him so fucking much dudes and dudettes. tell me I’m not the only one who misses that way too violent cutie pie.
You weren’t someone who was known for mindlessly crushing on upperclassman. You focused mainly on your school work, trying to get straight A’s. Your Father had drilled it into your head that good grades equal good college offers. While he wasn’t wrong, you wished that there could be more to your life than report cards and school projects. No, you never crushed on anyone. In fact a majority of your friends had come to the conclusion you’re asexual, which is far from true. Actually your eyes had landed on a prize all their own, you’d much prefer they stay focused on the work in front of you but instead they were trained on the schools ‘lady killer’. Montgomery De La Cruz.
You doubt Monty had ever even once glanced in your direction and up until now that didn’t bother you. The only thing that bothered you more than the lack of attention you were receiving was the fact that he currently had his eyes set on a busty blonde across the Library.
And you do not take rejection very well.
Monty might not have known he was rejecting you but he most certainly was. By allowing his eyes to trail down to her cleavage before letting his eyes take in her delicate features he was obviously rejecting you. You pushed back from the table as Monty sidled towards the blonde airhead. Fuck. Why do you care so much? You feel more anger then heartbreak, you weren’t one of those cry baby women. If someone upset you, you made sure they knew it. In this case you would definitely be making sure Monty knew how much he’d upset you.
While you planned on finding a clever way to introduce yourself to Monty, the Universe wanted to rectify this situation for you all on his own. Fate was a funny thing. You stood in front of your open locker, texting a few friends before heading to your neck class when you hear a soft click followed by the shutter of a camera. Tyler was a nice guy, harmless if not a little creepy. Nonetheless he made you uncomfortable, you could feel his eyes follow you around the school. You turned slightly to the right to see Tyler peeking from around the corner with his lens pointed at you. You tried to look causal as you began to hurriedly pack your things into your bag when the quick sound of footsteps on the tile floors caught your attention. You feel a sharp breeze blow from behind you and before you even know what’s going on Monty has Tyler pinned to the lockers.
Your eyes are wide and poor Tyler shakes like a leaf, his eyes refusing to meet Monty’s. “Fucking leave her alone.” Monty’s voice is tense and his eyes burn craters into Tyler’s head. He fists two handfuls of Tyler’s shirt and when Tyler makes the mistake of lifting his eyes to meet yours Monty slams him back against the locker again. “Don’t even look at her freak.” The last work is spat from Monty’s mouth. It makes Tyler flinch. “I-I didn’t-” Tyler’s voice cracks as he stumbles for the right words. Monty leans in closer, his fingers curling around Tyler’s shirt tighter.
“I saw you taking her picture from around the corner, and if that’s not creepy enough I’ve watched you follow her around the school. You wanna touch her Down? Hm? Wanna find a good place to have your way with her?” The words coming from Monty’s mouth are venomous, you’d be lying if you said your panties weren’t wet. Smiling with the edge still in his eyes Monty releases Tyler and begins to straighten his shirt. “So here’s what we’re going to do Down. You’re going to leave her the fuck alone, no talking to her, no taking pictures. If you even look in her direction I’m going to beat you to a bloody pulp. Capiche?” Monty feigns a friendly look, while Tyler quickly nods and squirms away the instant Monty allows him to. You fiddle with the strap of your bag as Monty turns to you, a much different look in his eyes.
“You okay?” His eyes are on you, his attention is finally on you. The feeling of his eyes brushing over your face and down your body has you melting directly into the floor. Instead of collapsing into a tingling heap you smile with a quick nod. “Y-Yeah, you don’t need to worry though. Tyler is harmless, just kind of creepy.” You reassure him the best you can but you doubt you did anything to ease his worry. Monty rolls his eyes, the tension hasn’t yet left his shoulders. “Harmless now. It’s disgusting the way he follows you around the school. I’ve even seen him linger around the girls bathroom if you go in.” Monty’s voice becomes strained again, a memory seeming to play in his head.
You turn to head to class and much to your surprise Monty begins to walk beside you, “you really don’t have to walk me to class.” There’s a blush on your cheeks and Monty merely shrugs. There are eyes on you as you walk with Monty, people know Monty. Nobody knows you, they’re probably wondering how Monty does. “No biggie.” He’s incredibly casual, and also a lot nicer than you were expecting. Sure he was a little rough with Tyler but Tyler was being really creepy. You have no clue who allowed the town stalker to be in charge of yearbook, it like gives him a reason to follow people around. It’s conveniently always for “yearbook”. No way.
Nothing else of major significance occurred after that day. Monty would occasionally wink at you from across the hall or throw a lopsided smile your way in the hallways. But you figured he saw you as a little sister than someone he wanted to fuck into oblivion. You desperately wanted him to fuck you into oblivion. Monty definitely did however keep a close eye on you if any guy approached you. Even his friends, like Zach. You were pretty good friends with Zach, having lived down the street from him since as long as you can remember. Anytime Zach stood by your locker with you, you could feel Monty’s eyes on you. Sure enough each and every time you looked up you saw Monty’s heated gaze on the two of you. Basically, you were receiving a hundred different mixed messages from him. Why were you waiting around for him anyway? When in doubt, do it your damn self.
There were tons of eyes on you today. You were wearing a sheer see through deep purple crop top. Beneath the crop top you wore nothing but a lacy black bra, which was very much on display. It wasn’t what you were wearing that was catching everyone’s attention, but what you’d written on the cups of your bra. You’d written FOR MONTY, each word on each cup in big white letters. People were whispering all around you as you made your way to your locker. Zach in particular wasn’t all that surprised, he knew you fairly well. If it took you too long to get what you wanted, you’d make sure to make a show of it once you’d decided to get it yourself. In this case however, that thing you wanted was in fact, Monty.
Monty almost didn’t notice, not until one of his buddies elbowed his side, “dude look.”
Monty swore his cock jumped to attention once he’d seen what you were wearing. The words FOR MONTY written on your breasts catching his attention immediately. You’d barely allowed him a side glance as you strolled on by and while every single nerve in Monty’s body wanted to approach you first- he didn’t. Clearly you’d done this to catch his attention, and Monty couldn’t help but wonder what you’d do if he did nothing. His cock was nearly twitching at the thought. So Monty gave little to no reaction and turned back to his boys, who all thought he was completely insane. How could he do nothing when an insanely hot chick had basically given her breasts to him?
The reaction infuriated and confused you just as much as it did them. Was he really so uninterested that at the prospect of you offering your body to him willingly he would still reject you? Ouch. You slammed your locker shut and turned to brush past him, ignoring Zach’s quiet chuckling as he followed behind you. You weren’t embarrassed, you’d thankfully inherited your Mother’s fearless nature. You were pissed the fuck off. You’d give Monty one last chance before you’d write him off and look for another good lay. Although you’d yet to find someone at Liberty that was hotter than Monty. “Gonna give it up?” Zach asked, that teasing laugh still hinting at his tone. You turned to give him a sharp glare, so far today Zach had been the only guy not to look at your breasts. “I still have one more idea.” You mused aloud.
Zach rolled his eyes. Of course you did.
When the bell rang you’d headed for your locker to dump all your school stuff inside. Your jacket was zipped all the way up as you shoved things into your locker. This had to be the craziest thing you’ve ever done, but fuck you wanted Monty so damn badly. So badly in fact that you’d do about damn near anything to make that happen. You walked with confidence even though nothing but fear coursed through you with every step. You approached the locker room, knowing the boys had just finished baseball practice. Meaning they were all sweaty, and showering. And naked. You sucked in a sharp breath before shoving the locker room door open, and immediately every pair of eyes were on you. Some guys wolf whistled, some guys covered their junk, some didn’t. Gross. Your eyes however were set on one person. Zach’s eyes widened as soon as he’d seen you, now this did surprise him.
Monty’s back was to you but with one look at Diego and he was turning around, an amused expression on his face when he saw you. Once you were stood in front of Monty you reached for your jacket zipper before pulling it down and shrugging your jacket off your shoulders. Monty’s expression shifted once he’d noticed you were no longer wearing the crop top and wore only the black lacy bra you’d written on. Yours and Monty’s eyes met in an intense stare down, you could feel the sexual tension beginning to fill the entire room. Monty had one eyebrow raised while he looked at you. “Y’know baby if De La Cruz here won’t do anything, I’m sure I could give you a good night.” A guy said from your left, but you didn’t bother to look over at him.
“Good thing it doesn’t take brains to be a baseball player. It clearly says ‘FOR MONTY’ meathead.” You fire back, noticing the way Monty’s mouth quirked up at your words. The baseball player slinks back as the rest of the team ‘oohs’ and begins to tease him. You and Monty continue your stare down and it’s simply erotic. “Well Montgomery? Whatcha think?” Another player said as you and Monty stood nearly chest to chest. Your heart was hammering against your ribcage as his nearly expressionless face slid into a sly smile. “I think the rest of you nasty fucks has seen enough of her tits.” Monty said simply before swiftly hauling you up and over his shoulder. A gasp escaped your lips followed by giggles as Monty marched to the door of the locker room as the rest of the team whistled and cheered Monty on.
“Monty, where are we going?” You shriek with laughter as he carries you down the hallway, purpose in his steps. Monty’s hand rests on your ass and he gives you a sharp slap, “literally anywhere else.” He says, his eyes scanning around for the nearest place he can screw your brains out. “I don’t have a shirt on!” You exclaim, gasping when his palm comes down on your ass again. Monty chuckles, “baby soon you won’t have anything on at all.” His words send jolts of arousal shooting straight between your legs. Finally Monty spies an empty classroom and throws the door open before locking it behind him. He drops you to the ground, his pupils dilated and his eyes fixed on you.
“I have been hard as a rock all fuckin’ day from the shit you just pulled.” Monty said, his voice husky as he stalked towards you. You slid back to sit on the teachers desk, your wide eyes watching him as he drew nearer and nearer to you. “I’m sorry Monty.” Your voice is so innocent and soft it nearly makes him jizz his pants when he sees the doe eyes you’re simultaneously flashing him. “Are you? Because you just walked around with your tits on display for everyone to see. All. Fucking. Day. Then you waltz your sexy little ass into the locker room and show your beautiful tits in that bra for all my boys to see?” Monty has an edge to the tone of his voice, a dangerous predatory edge. You nibble on your bottom lip as you nod up at him.
“These are my tits, isn’t that right baby?” Monty asks, reaching up to harshly squeeze your breasts through your bra. You nod immediately, nearly careening into his hand when he gently strokes his fingers down your cheek. “Then why in the hell did you let every guy in the entire school see them? Hm?” He’s definitely angry. You weren’t expecting anger, you couldn’t deny however that his anger had your panties completely soaked. “I just wanted your attention.” You explain with a sigh, whining when he pulls his palm away from you. Monty nodded slowly, the angry expression still very plainly on his face. “Well you got everybody’s damn attention Y/N. If I’m going to be kind and give you my cock we need to come to some sort of understanding.” Monty says, crossing his arms as he glowers at you. You nod quickly, your breasts still spilling out of your bra in front of Monty’s eyes. It was very distracting.
“First of all, these are my perfect tits and only I get to see them. Understood?” Monty demands, walking behind you. His arms reach up to open the clasp of the bra, “yes Monty.” Your entire body is buzzing with anticipation as you feel his fingers trail lightly down your spine. “In fact this entire perfect, tight little body is mine got it?” His voice is stern as he presses his front to your back. You nod weakly as his hand trails down to your navel. His thumb brushes against your nipple as his hand travels downwards and you whine, arching your back into his touch. “Second, if we do this it can’t be a one time thing. You will ruin me for life if I never get to taste your pussy again. I’ll never be able to fuck anyone else without thinking of you.” Monty breathed, his nose nudging down your neck as his fingers hit the waistband of your jean shorts.
You smile widely when you hear his words, “you’ll get to fuck me whenever you want.” you agree instantly and Monty hums in approval against your skin. Monty’s hand continues past your shorts to rub lightly at your inner thighs. “Monty please.” Your voice is a mix of frustration and desperation as he begins to bite down on your shoulder, and his hand continues it’s torturous ministrations on your inner thighs. “Lastly, you can’t fuck anyone else. If you want this, then you’re mine. I find out you’re banging some other guy I’ll beat him to a pulp. Got it?” Monty snaps and you want to agree but you can’t help the words as they come from your lips. “Then you can’t bang anyone either. Just me.” You snap and Monty smiles against your skin.
“Deal.” Monty agrees as he slides his hand into your shorts, his fingers finding your clit through your underwear. Your head is thrown back against his shoulder as he begins to slowly rub at you while his other hand pops open the button on your shorts to give him more room to tease you. “Diego has been talking about making a move on you, if he does you’re going to turn him down. Understood?” Monty demands, the thought of Diego getting to touch you this way sparking the flame of anger inside his chest. “Don’t want him anyway. Want you Monty,” You reassure him, boldly reaching out to lace your fingers through his free hand. Much to your surprise Monty lets you hold his hand. “You think I wrote your name on my bra today so I could get Diego’s attention?” You fire back, your mouth falling open when Monty carefully pushed 2 fingers into your wet entrance.
“You did get his attention.” Monty seethed, his left hand reaching up to curl around your throat. The feeling of his hand lightly squeezing at your throat ha you moaning loudly, feeling the heat building in your pelvis as he continues to pump his fingers into you. “Oh you like it when I choke you baby? You like it when I’m in control?” Monty hums in your ear and you can feel his hard cock pressing against your back. You nod quickly, feeling your high approaching as he gently squeezes your throat again. “Seeing you shove Tyler against the lockers- I love it when you’re rough. I touched myself that night thinking about you.” You admitted and you hear Monty hum in approval. “What did you think about baby?” Monty whispers huskily into your ear.
“Thought of you pressing me against the lockers as you take me from behind. I thought about your thick, hard cock pushing into me over and over again. I thought about your big hands holding my hips as you fuck me so hard I couldn’t walk.” You cry out as your orgasm draws even closer. Monty curls his fingers into you and you cry out loudly as you cum, your body shaking as Monty harshly fingers you through your orgasm. Once the shaking comes to a stop you immediately slide off the desk to kneel in front of Monty. He leans back against the desk as you unbuckle his belt and pull it through the loops of his jeans.
“Wait,” Monty’s voice is hoarse as he pulls you back to your feet, his eyes are on yours as he pulls your lips to meet his. Your lips move together, a mix of tongue, teeth, and heavy breathing. “I couldn’t go another second without doing that.” Monty whispers against your lips before pushing you back down onto your knees. You unbutton his jeans before yanking them down along with his tight boxers. Monty release a sigh of relief as his cock is freed from it’s tight confines, and your mouth waters when you lay your eyes on it.
“Fuck Monty you’re huge.” You say, your voice sounding nearly dreamy.
Monty smiles with a raised brow, but that cocky look is wiped off his face when you take his dick into your mouth. You wrap your lips around his leaking head and Monty grips the edge of the desk tightly as you slowly take him further into your mouth. Monty’s hand twists your hair into a ponytail and he holds it tightly, helping you bob your head up and down his shaft. “Christ. You’re fuckin’ good at this baby.” Monty moans as he watches you take his cock down your throat. You hum against him causing his hips to buck into your mouth, and soon you feel Monty’s hips stutter a bit. That’s when he pulls out of your mouth, “I want to cum inside your sweet little pussy.” Monty gasps, still trying to catch his breath as he turns you around.
Monty bends you over the desk, yanking your shorts and underwear down your legs. You hear the sound of a condom wrapper being ripped open and after a minute or so you feel Monty’s cock nudging at your pussy. “You sure you want this?” Monty asks, his hands coming down to grasp at your hips. Instead of answering him you plant your hands flat on the desk as you push back against him, taking his cock all the way inside you. “Shit baby,” Monty hisses, the unexpected feeling making him nearly lightheaded as he looks down and watches you thrust back against him. His hands hold lightly at your hips as he watches you do all the work, fucking yourself back against his cock. “Goddamn, isn’t that a sight to see.” Monty whispers almost to himself, he watches the place you two connect intently, watching his cock disappear inside you nearly has him panting.
You continue to push back against him for a few minutes, high pitched moans and cries escaping your lips as he brushes against that sensitive spot inside you. It’s not long before Monty is grasping your hips a little tighter to regain control.
He begins to hardly thrust into you, his hips smacking against yours. Your hipbones grind into the desk, you know that’s going to leave some gnarly bruises and will hurt like a bitch tomorrow. Monty slams into you, his breathing labored as he pounds you hard. You shake with each thrust, your breasts swaying as your body is rocked against the desk. You feel that familiar coil winding in your stomach when Monty reaches around to thumb at your clit. Your mouth is hanging open when you feel Monty’s other hand grab your hair to yank your head back. You cry out when Monty slams into you, hitting that sweet spot inside you over and over again until you’re cumming all over his cock and down your thighs. Monty cums with a groan, his hands falling to support his weight against the desk so he doesn’t crush you.
“Best fuck ever.” Monty says breathlessly and you laugh weakly with him. He gently pulls out of you and you wince as he does so. Your upper body collapses against the desk and you’re surprised when you feel Monty cleaning you up with a tissue. Your heart warms at the sweet look in his eyes when he winks at you when you look at him over your shoulder. Monty then presses a quick kiss to your clit, causing your body to jolt before he pulls your panties and shorts back up. “Still don’t have a shirt doofus.” You mumble as you clip your bra behind your back. Monty shrugs as he reaches to lift you in his arms bridal style. Your cheeks are flushed as he opens the door of the classroom to head back to the locker room- he still needs to shower. “You’re too sore to walk anyway.” Monty says, unable to keep the pride out of his tone as he says it. You merely hum in response as your eyes close when you rest your head against his chest.
“Have a good fuck Monty?” A baseball player teases as Monty pushes back into the locker room, looking like he just got laid with you sleeping in his arms. Monty merely rolls his eyes, “shut up and give me her jacket.” He snaps, sitting down on the bench as Zach hands him your jacket. Monty presses a kiss to your head as he helps you into your jacket before zipping it up. “Here, I can take her. So you can shower.” Zach says, noticing that you’re completely out in Monty’s arms. Monty is hesitant as Zach reaches down to gently pull you into his arms, and when Zach turns Monty stands. “Here, bring her to my car. I just need to shower.” He says, handing Zach his keys. Zach is one of the few people Monty actually trusts with his car keys.
That was supposed to be nothing more than a quick fuck, but when Monty saw you sleeping in his arms he felt his heart skip a beat. He felt like a good man, like he was protecting you. Monty didn’t normally have feelings for anybody but you seemed to be the exception.
Fuck.

bright { connor stevens}
synopsis: connor knows your soul and you know his. now that knowledge is put to the test.
authors note
part two of haunted!
in this story a evil eye bracelet is use, which is a talisman used for protection against misfortune and injury. i have used evil talismans since childhood and their apart of my culture which is why i’m adding them into my writing.
also i tried my best to reconstruct the timeline so if there’s some mistakes and gaps, i tried lol.
also the major plot twists i threw into this? whip lash worthy
Your walk home was accompanied by your tears and broken heart. While your mind was on auto pilot buzzing through every moment you spent with Connor, trying to pin point the exact moment everything had gone wrong. Was he being honest with you? Did he suddenly start caring all of a sudden what your over bearing parents thought about your relationship with him? Or was he just never into you that much to beginning with. You weren’t immune to hearing the whispers in the hallway and how cruel your classmates could be, while Connor always reassured you. Your mind always had that deep corner that was out for blood and to hurt you.
Your cheeks were raw and your eyes were stinging by the time you had returned back home. All the lights were out downstairs and upstairs. You snuck back into your bedroom with ease. You had no willpower once you entered through your windowpane to do anything. You shrugged off the jacket and your shoes, managed to changed into the first pair of clean pajamas you saw and the second your head hit the pillow, you were out.
You woke up to your alarm and felt like you had been left on the side of the road after being ran over. You sat up to check your phone and saw that there had been a few notifications from your socials and texts from Luke, they were about Connor. Adding insult to injury. You stared at the texts debating if you should even them, and deciding against them. You couldn’t deal with this decaffeinated.
“So he just broke up with you? Out of nowhere?” Carrie said as you had finished ranting to your friends. You nodded and her face furrowed. “That’s out of character for him, he looks at you like you put the stars in the sky.” She said nonchalantly making a turn onto out of the coffee shop parking lot. You took a sip of your coffee.
“It’s so out of character for him.” Kayla commented from the backseat, you turned slightly to look at her. “Obviously we don’t know him as well as you do but c’mon that’s so weird.” It was weird, you didn’t put everything together in the moment but something was definitely going on.
“You’re right.” You murmured. You didn’t want to give yourself excuses but something was definitely going on. As you rolled into school you noticed Luke and your eyebrows furrowed, Connor wasn’t with him. They always walked to school together. Unless he ditched.
“Hey!” Luke announced as he walked up to Carries car when you’d gotten out. “Hi.” You said shortly walking past with your friends. “You seen Connor yet?” You and your friends stopped short. “Why would she keep tabs on her ex?” Carrie snarked. Confusion washed over Luke and he went silent as a sympathetic look was cast your way. You smiled before you and your friends continued your way to class.
After school, you stayed late to hang with Kayla as she choreographed some more things for dance while you worked on your homework. Eventually you were both kicked out by the boys wrestling team and when leaving the coach asked if you knew where Connor was, you shook your head and went your way with Kayla. “He didn’t show at all today?” You voiced with concern to Kayla, she met your face with mutual concern. “You should call him. Breakup aside this is some criminal minds type shit.” You nodded. You pulled your phone out and your finger hung over his contact before you finally pressed down.
The ringing went on and on which just built up your anxiety. Then his voicemail. “Hey it’s Connor, leave a message if you even do that anymore it’s the twenty first century.” You swallowed and looked at Kayla. “Hey, i know i’m probably the last person you want to hear from but where ever you are can you just call me and let me know you’re not kidnapped or something morbid like that. ok bye.”
“Effective.” She said as you opened the passenger door. “Well sorry i don’t have a go to my ex who i love is missing might be missing and i’m concerned voicemail at the ready.” You said buckling your seatbelt. “Weakling.” She said pulling out of the school parking lot.
“Where’s y/n? “ Hanna asked as they went through Connor’s backpack that they had found in the woods the day prior. Luke hadn’t spoken anything of Connor and yours breakup with the rest of the group and they’d been confused on the absence of their friend. “Connor and her broke up the night before he went missing.” Luke said to the group. The room went silent other than the humming of the art room lights.
“Is that why she’s been avoiding us?” Gabby asked, she’d seen you several times and you’d dodged. It wasn’t intentional it was just that they were Connors friends first. “Probably.” Jai said continuing to look through the backpack when a letter addressed to you fell out. He looked at the group, “Nope not reading it.”
“None of us are!” Hanna said as Luke inched towards it. Gabby nodded, “I have class with her next period. I’ll give it to her.” She said shooting the boys looks. The boys both put their heads down like dogs in the dog house.
Eventually, the bell had rung so the group went separate ways and when Gabby saw you in class she sat next to you before you had the chance to move seats she dropped the letter on your desk. “We know why you’re avoiding us. But he left this for you, Luke found his backpack in the woods yesterday and he’s convinced something happened.” She said keeping her voice down not wanting to draw any attention to the two of you. You nodded taking everything in.
You slipped the letter into your backpack. “I want to help but things with my parents aren’t the best right now and besides my shifts at the book store i’m on lock down.” You explained to her, there was nothing more you wanted than to help Connor. She nodded. “I totally understand. I’ll text you updates.” She said with a reassuring smile. You gave her a smile and then turned your attention to the class even though the only thing you could think about was the letter in your backpack.
It had been hours before you were able to read the letter that Connor had left you. It sat there taunting you. You ripped it open and didn’t know what to feel. It just had a post it note that said you’re enough, then ticket stubs from dates you’d been on and a wax bracelet with an evil eye charm attached. You put the bracelet on almost instantly. Nothing made sense.
What you had was a piece of the puzzle.
On Monday, Connor was here. Sleep deprived, worried eyed and self heart broken. Tuesday came like sunrise and he was gone as if he never existed. The only thing left was his backpack and laptop that was password encrypted.
On Tuesday, his backpack had been found in the woods he last was in before he disappeared. With trinket lights, a letter for you, and a note that was chalked up to be clues.
On Wednesday, his friends went through his backpack at school. Hanna and Luke snuck into his house and stole his laptop in hopes of figuring out more about what happened to him. Later, that day Jai finds out the group didn’t make it out of the woods in time and was in deed cursed by the shadow man. Jai was almost taken in his basement, Hanna and Seth were almost taken in their living room, and Gabby while on a jog.
Not being able to get any contact of Luke who was at wrestling practice, Gabby stole her mom’s car to hopefully save her friend. The group took refugee at Connor’s house for the night. The shadow man came back and they managed to fight him off this time. Hanna cracked the password to Connor’s laptops and they figured out that he was cursed too. He was researching into the curse and was going to the lighthouse to preform a ritual to end it all.
Pieces came together, like the corners of a puzzle.
When Thursday rolled around you found yourself studying in the cafeteria when Gabby and Jai came to sit with you. “Hey.” You said looking up from your textbook. “Hi.” Gabby said with a nervous look on her face. “What’s going on?” You asked looking at the both of them with confusion and concern at the same time.
“Your mom’s maiden name is Murphy, right?” Jai asked as he pulled out an old yearbook. You nodded, “Yeah but what does this have to do with Connor?” Jai placed the open yearbook in front of you. “This is June Murphy, she was the first victim of the shadow man curse we think, she was the light house keepers daughter, well one of them.” Gabby explained to you.
“One of them? Whose the other?” You asked flipping to the next page, and staring up at you was your own mother. Who looked somewhat like. “Oh shit.” You muttered. “We didn’t know for sure.” Jai said sympathetically.
“It’s definitely her, probably think it was me if her name wasn’t there.” You said looking up and pulling your phone out to take a picture of the year book pages. “She chastises me for lying when she has a whole hidden identity.” You said slumped in shock.
“We’re sorry.” Gabby said placing her hand on your wrist in an act of comfort. “Maybe she knows something that can help with Connor?” Jai implied, you shrugged. “I’ll talk to her later and let you guys know if it’s anything helpful. I have to go meet Carrie about the glow dance.”
“Also Jai, If you’re planning on asking Kayla. Her dress is purple. Just a heads up.” You said as you grabbed your textbook and walked away from your two friends with questions swirling around your head. How was this suddenly a real life scenario in your life?
“Mom!” You announced when you walked in your house. She was in her bedroom. You hadn’t talked to her since the night you last saw Connor. “We need to talk.” You said, She smiled. She thinks she going to win, she has no idea what’s coming.
“I’m so glad you came to your senses about that boy.” She said. You laughed pulling your phone out. “No we need to talk about your double life.” Her face went pale and fear overstruck it. You had never seen your mother scared in your entire life, not even when you broke your arm.
“Tell me your secrets and i’ll tell mine.” You said with your arms crossed. She sat there for a minute before she exhaled. “First you need to understand everything i did was to protect you. Second, i need to know what you know. ” You nodded, you’d never seen your mother like this before so whatever she was about to say must be gospel truth.
“I know June Murphy was the lighthouse keepers daughter, well one of them, she tried to save the lighthouse and failed, then she died. Not so long after the light house was shut down and then her dad died not so long after her.” You said and your mom nodded.
“June fought to save the light house and was only a few signatures short. She’s a lot you, you’d like her. One night she decided she’d turn the lighthouse on by herself. Only problem was we’d thrown the key off the cliff into the water earlier that day. June swore she saw it hanging by a low branch. So we went to get it. It was pouring so when she came just close, she slipped and she fell.” Tears collected in your mothers eyes and you regretted everything you said about her earlier.
“My father was devastated and took a book of shadows. He turned himself into a monster to try and get my sister back. In the end, i lost them both.” She said as she stood up and went into her closet pulling out out a medium sized wooden chest.
“I changed my name, moved to an out of state college and when i married your father. We moved back here, perfect place for a family. No one remembered me because there was nothing worth remembering anymore.” She placed it down and opened it. There was pictures, a baby blanket and other keepsakes.
“At the time i couldn’t understand how my father turned himself into a monster to save a daughter he lost, when he still had one who was alive. But after i had you. I understood. I could never let that happen.” You sat there. Your parents had been hard on you but if this was the reason? You had no reason to complain.
“Does dad know?” You asked. She nodded, “You can’t go through something like that and keep it to yourself you need to let burdens off your shoulders and lean on the ones you love.” You nodded. She sat next to you on the bed “I’m sorry about what i said about your boyfriend.”
“He’s not my, um, that’s a whole mess right now.” You said to her. “He broke up with me the night we fought, i snuck out of my window. Then went missing the next day and his friends who are also my friends, but that societal you can’t have mutual friend with a significant other bullshit was in my head, found out he was in the light house cottage before he disappeared so they went there too. He wasn’t there but his backpack was in the woods, which are cursed so now they’re cursed and they’re trying to save him and themselves before the shadow man takes them like they took Connor.” You rambled on. Your mother look at you as you had three heads. “Are you cursed?” She asked placing a hand on your shoulder.
“No but like i’m sitting on the sides watching everyone i love get taken so i wish i was at this point.” you said as your mother took you into a hug and you started to break down. “I don’t know what to do, i need someone to tell me what to do.” You cried into her shoulder as she soothed you like she used to when you were a baby.
“It’s going to be alright, we have something that the shadow man doesn’t.” she said getting up and grabbing something from your dads side of the closet. A small book, before she grabbed your hand. “Where are we going?” You asked. “A family reunion.” She said as you both walked out of the front door and into the car. She looked over at your wrist, “Where’d you get that?” It was the evil eye bracelet.
“Connor left it for me before he disappeared.” You said subconsciously rubbing the bracelet to soothe yourself. “Smart move.” She said as she pulled out of the drive way. “Why?” You asked you knew the evil eye was protective. “A protective talisman, gifted by a lover? He had every intention of protection you from the shadow man whether he was taken or not.” She said looking over. “Breaking up with you, the letter, and the talisman? He loves you. Call it motherly intuition.”
“Yeah well when we save him, i have a lot to talk to him about.” You said as you looked out the window. “You could talk to me about it.” You looked back. “I realize that in these past years protecting may have drawn a wall between us and that's not what i want and that's not what i ever wanted.” You knew it would take some time but you wanted it too. “I don’t know if that would work. I usually complain about you and dad.” You joked as you looked back out the window.
“A magic shop? What are we witches?” You said to your mother. She turned to you. “Mom.” She ignored your advances and once you made it to the door you were asked about a password.
“Lemme guess abracadabra?” The door slide open. This wasn’t the weirdest thing that had happened this week. “See you’re a natural.” Your mom winked. Your eyes widen. A man in an extravagant purple suit answers the door. He’s taken back. That makes two of us.
“Okay, to recap. You’re my dad’s brother but he decided to never bring you up for some unknown reason and my family has ties to magic and shadow powers?” Your mom and Sardo nodded. “Is there any other major family secrets you wanna tell me?”
“Teenagers.” Sardo muttered. “Wait teenagers as in plural.” Your mother said turning her attention to Sardo. “Yes i run a magic shop, teenagers come in.” He said nonchalantly. “Have any other teenagers come in today asking about the shadow man?” You asked.
“Well there was this group of rugrats earlier today.” The midnight society. “Earlier this week this tall, lanky, one dressed in all black came in for a spell book.” He explained. “Connor?” You asked. Sardo got up and went through his purchase slips. “Yes, Connor Stevens.”
“What’d he get?” Your mom asked while you got up and took the slip from your new found long lost uncles hand. “Skeleton key and a love potion.” You said looking back up at her. “He didn’t use a love potion on me.” You said to your mom.
“Oh this is the boyfriend? Wow family drama must be fun on facebook!” Sardo said sitting down. “He had the book of shadows though. How’d he get it?” You asked as you put the slip back. “He broke in and stole it on monday night.” He exclaimed.
“It was in a life or death situation, i think that’s excusable.” You reasoned. Sardo shook his head, “That book brings nothing but trouble and even more darkness into the world every time you open it. It’s a book of shadows. Its dark magic. Not white magic.” He announced with a dissatisfied look on his face
“And you all want me to learn this? I’m not being sold on it.” You said sitting back in your seat. “There’s more than dark magic. There light magic, green magic, crystal magic and so on. Every practitioner chooses between the dark path and the light path.” Sardo explained as he stood up to grab a grimoire.
“What path will help me save my friends? Is there a path for that, cause i want that path.” You said as your mom rubbed your shoulder. “You don’t choose a path, the path chooses you.” Sardo explained pushing the grimoire close.
“What if dark magic chooses me?” You voiced, silence washed over the room. “Why do you want to save your friends?” You were taken aback, why? “Wouldn’t it be easier to let them all just be claimed? Throw in the towel, make new friends.”
“No!” You bellowed. “That’s not right, there’s always a way and when there’s love there’s light.” You explained. Your mom smiled at your answer. “If that’s how you feel. Dark magic won’t choose you.”
By the time you’d left the magic shop it was late and Gabby wasn’t answering her phone. You’d given an update about what had happen.
It was starting to make sense, not perfect sense, not just yet.
On Friday the glow dance had rolled around, what also rolled around was a stomach virus that had cause Carrie and Kayla to miss school and not be able to attend the dance. Gabby hadn’t been in class so you assumed she was also out with the stomach virus. Hanna met up with you during lunch letting you know what happened the night before. She tells you that Luke’s returning the book of shadows after school and everything should be back to normal now. Oh how wrong she was.
You weren’t able to see Connor after school, you had a shift and then were going to get ready for the dance. Gabby texted you that he was feeling up to going so you’d see him there. An hour into the dance and you ended up wandering the halls. You had felt this pit in your stomach and needed air.
But once you went into the hallway the pit just grew larger and larger. “Hey stranger.” Your eye evil bracelet burned and blinded. You looked up from your wrist and turned around. “Connor?” You asked. There was a screaming voice in your head. It felt wrong. “Who else?” He asked coming closer. You saw a light shine through a classroom and walked backwards towards it. Once the light enveloped you and Connor still stayed back. His sleeves were rolled up and his wrists were bare. The real Connor wears a rainbow bracelet you made him.
“The shadow man perhaps?” You suggested, the smirk on “Connors” face dropped. You inched closer to the switch that controlled the hallway lights and switched it on, when the lights were on “Connor” was gone.
You started to go towards the gym seeing your friends on stage with Sardo and “Connor” in the crowd knowing a rescue mission was already in place. All you could do was stand there and wait. Within ten minutes, the shadow man had out smarted your friends and Jai sacrificed himself to save the group.
On Saturday you were completely left out of the loop. You heard nothing. Gabby wasn’t answering. Hanna wasn’t answering. You feared the worse and could do nothing to save your friends. That what Sardo said earlier was going to come true. You still had that pit in your stomach. You were reading your grimoires but it felt useless, why study if right here and right now. The people you care about most are disappearing through your finger tips.
On Saturday night your parents brought you upstairs and put your to bed, but you stayed restless with worry. You stared at the ceiling and walls of your bedroom before at some point your mind gave up and lulled you to a nightmare filled sleep. Losing Gabby, Losing Hanna, Losing Jai, Losing Luke. Losing Connor. Like a broken tape it looped over and over and over.
It all fell apart right in front of you.
On Sunday morning Kayla and Carrie had recovered from their stomach flu. Your mom invited them over in an effort to distract and cheer you up. You told them everything. Life’s too short to keep secrets from your best friends. Especially when you don’t know how long you have left with them.
Suddenly it was Friday again and you were at your shift at the book store again. You pulled your phone out to text Carrie and Kayla. They both responded with the same texts they did on the Friday of the glow dance. “What the actual fuck.” You muttered. The door rung several times signaling a mass group of people walked in.
The midnight society had just seen that Sardo was alive and remembered that you work Friday shifts. Which caused them to practically sprint to see you, Connor leading. When your friends all walked through the door you stopped in your tracks. “Seen a ghost?” Gabby said with a smile. “i hate you all i hate your children and your childrens children.” You said rushing to hug her.
“Hear that Connor?” Luke said causing his friend to hit him upset the head. “That’s a two way road.” You said hugging Hanna. Then Luke, Jai and Seth. Then there was Connor.
“I’m gonna go take a nap, really tired see you guys later.” Gabby said excusing herself. “Same honestly, later.” Hanna said leaving with Seth. “I’m just going to go.” Luke said dragging Jai with him. You laughed at your friends.
“I’m scared that if i walk any closer you’ll disappear like last time.” You said looking at him. He walked towards you. Grabbed your hand and placing it on his heart. “This real enough for you?” He said leaning his forehead against yours. You smiled. Noticing the blinded evil eye he smiled, “So that worked.”
His head moved to rest on top of yours and you wrapped your arms around his torso. “Legally, you’re obligated to stay like this for at least twenty minutes.” You laughed moving your head into the crook of his neck. “I’m okay with that.”
“I didn’t mean breaking up with you, i just didn’t know what happened when he took you and couldn’t let that happened to you.” He said slightly holding you closer. “I understand. Just never do it again.” You said to him, he laugh and nodded.
“So the glow dance?” You pulled away because your shift was starting to end. “You’re up for that?” You said as you started putting stray books in the resort bins. “I’m always up for a good time.” He said sitting on the front counter. You nodded, “Pick me up at 7.”
“What about your parents?” He questioned. “A lot happened when you were gone.” You said starting to rant to your boyfriend.
it rebuilt it self.

TMR Time Loop/Groundhog Day Soulmate AU: Newt - Prettier Than Last Time: Part Three (Final)
You could hardly sleep. When you woke up, you practically bolted out of your bedroom and showered infinitely quicker than usual. You were nervous, to say the least. Way more nervous than yesterday. You were so distracted, you almost fell over in the shower, your feet sliding over the slippery tiles.
You did things as usual, got dressed and brewed a cup of coffee. But time seemed to go slower than usual. You were taking quick, distracted mouthfuls of it once it was done and, in your cup, when you heard your mom drop her tub of moisturizer down the stairs again. It thumped three times and rolled once it had reached the wooden floorboards, and she gasped and almost cursed, as usual, until she called out, “Y/N?”
“Yeah, I’m awake!” you called back, knowing that was what she wanted to know. You were already almost finished with your cup of coffee.
“That all you’re having?” she repeated, coming into the kitchen, fully dressed. And like last time, she headed towards the refrigerator. “You know—”
“I know, food in the fridge. Just not hungry,” you said, as you double-checked that it was Tuesday by looking at the date on your lock screen. Tuesday it was.
She stopped in front of the fridge, hand at the ready. Then she turned away from it to grab the banana. “You can’t think without fuel—”
“I know,” you interrupted, putting your phone down, “I can’t get fuel from coffee, but that banana won’t get eaten, and you know it.”
Your mom stopped reaching for the banana as you said this and dropped her arm by her side. She squinted at you. “You’re acting really… strange.”
“Well,” you started, finishing the last mouthful of your drink, “You could argue that this is the most important day of my life.”
She frowned. She crossed her arms over her chest, her pointed stare trying to figure you out. “What, you’ve got that test today or something? It’s just a math test—”
“It’s tomorrow, and I’m not worried about that one bit,” you smiled, reaching for your bag. You’d be a bit early to the bus stop, but there was no point in hanging around listening to the same conversation a third time. “I better get going.”
“Oh, uh, okay,” she stuttered, watching you as you headed for the front door, “have a good day!”
You smiled.
***
You’d spent your extra time this morning looking for him. But you couldn’t see him. You found Minho and Thomas, but the blond headed boy just wasn’t around. You searched hallways and lockers you hardly ever passed, assuming you’d never met because of differing schedules and locker locations. But that wasn’t the case.
Or at least, you were starting to think it wasn’t, because you couldn’t even find him in any of the school yearbooks in the library. Did he exist at all?
By the time you got to the cafeteria, deciding that spending your break in the library pawing over more yearbooks would be pointless, you were a nervous wreck. You’d see him at the field today for sure, but you at least wanted to know his name first. You couldn’t even find that.
“So,” Brenda said, tucking her short hair behind her ear, “You’re still gonna be at the track meet today after school, right?” She was eating fries again.
Teresa sat down beside her, sandwich in hand. “Of course, she’s going, we all are.”
“Yeah,” you said quietly, too nervous to eat. “I’ll be there.”
“It’s going to be great!” Brenda said excitedly, just like the first Tuesday, and Teresa harassed her for only wanting to go to see Minho in action, to which kicked off their usual argument.
You glanced at the doors just in case, you didn’t remember seeing him in the cafeteria both times but maybe you missed him. You spotted Minho and Thomas though, eating at a table not too far away. Brenda would sneak occasional glances at Minho, something you didn’t notice any of the other times.
Most days, Teresa would go sit with Thomas. Or Thomas would come over here. And Brenda would get all flustered because if Thomas came over here then Minho would follow. You blinked, almost frowning, as you realized that never any of those times did you notice a blond British boy in tow.
“Y/N? Hello?” Brenda suddenly said, which broke you from your thoughts. You turned to look at her.
“Yeah?”
Brenda laughed, glancing at Teresa, “Looking for someone?”
“Maybe,” you said quietly.
Teresa frowned.
“Well, okay,” Brenda said, humorously, “Anyway, as I was just saying… maybe we can find you a cute guy at the track meet today?”
“Sure,” you muttered, not really thinking. You were starting to feel anxious. When you saw him, face-to-face, would you really go up to him? You were starting to feel so scared of meeting him properly that your hands shook, and your palms were sweaty.
“Really?” Brenda practically gasped, looking to Teresa who stared at you with suspicious eyes. She knew something was up. Brenda, however, was excited to finally get you a boy, though of course you wouldn’t actually let her. “Rachel always knows who’s single, so I could ask her for you. Unless…”
You looked up at her at her sudden change int tone of voice, “Unless?”
“Unless you have someone in mind already?”
You stared at her a moment. “I don’t know yet.”
Teresa watched you carefully in silence, her blue eyes analytical.
But Brenda didn’t seem to care either way and went on about how she’d check in with Rachel and that you could make up your mind later.
“What happened to only caring about school and work and…” Teresa trailed off, checking the time on her phone. She’d have to leave for the lab soon.
You shrugged.
She shook her head, “You’re acting weird,” she concluded, and scooted her chair backwards so she could stand up. “I’ve got to head to the lab early, experiments and stuff.” She slipped her bag on, shoving her phone inside, “I’ll see you at the meet!” She turned towards the double-doors.
You stood up too, about to say goodbye to Brenda, when Teresa turned around and called out, “And Y/N?”
You looked over your shoulder at her, confused at this new interaction, “Yeah?”
She smiled, “Go get him.” She didn’t give you time to react, and you watched her in shock as she left the cafeteria.
“Am I missing something?” Brenda questioned, interrupting your disbelief.
You shook your head, “I’ve got no idea,” you packed your food back into your bag and slung the straps over your shoulders. You said goodbye and smiled to yourself as you headed for the exit, shaking your head. Of course, she’d know. Teresa was already smart. But she’d been through it before, the whole soulmate ordeal. You didn’t feel too guilty about not letting Brenda know yet, you’d tell her all about it once this day was over.
You were lost in thought as you opened the double doors, and immediately bumped into someone as they were coming in. You stopped, always forgetting this moment before it was too late. “Sorry,” you said, as reflex, and looked up into the eyes of the brown eyed, blond boy who was supposedly your soulmate.
Your eyes widened and you choked back a small gasp.
He shook his head, tucking a blond curl behind his ear, “Don’t be, I wasn’t really paying attention to where…” he tilted his head, blinking, “to where I was going,” he finished, quietly. He was wearing the same denim, wool-lined jacket, and black jeans. His accent and his eyes on you made your cheeks flush; he really was cute.
Your mouth was dry. You tried swallowing but it was no use. This was the moment. The moment, you repeated to yourself, but what were you supposed to say again? You panicked, and laughed, “Neither was I.”
He smiled and it melted your heart. But what if he wasn’t the one?
You opened your mouth and stopped yourself, squeezing the strap on your shoulder, you frowned. That’s it! The sunset—
“The sunset,” you blurted out all of a sudden, nervous and cheeks heated. He looked at you, curiously. And for some reason, some stupid reason, you continued, “It’s –uh,” you paused, swallowing, watching his eyes grow confused, “it’s even prettier than last time…?”
After you’d said it, you wanted to curl up and cry.
He looked at you a moment, his brown eyes studying yours. “Sorry, love?”
“Nothing!” you almost yelled and dodged past him before he could say anything else, or before you could say anything else. You were so embarrassed; you couldn’t think straight. You passed your class without even realizing and somehow made it into one of the open courtyards. You forced yourself to stop walking, which led to pacing nervously instead. You could have facepalmed, you felt so stupid. The moment repeated over and over in your head.
“Y/N?”
You looked up as you heard the voice call out your name and met eyes with Teresa’s. You sighed shakily but couldn’t help the few tears that sprung to your eyes. “Teresa,” was all you could manage.
“You okay?” she asked, walking over to you. She was still wearing her lab coat and her science goggles hung around her neck. She frowned and touched your shoulder, “What happened?”
“I made a mistake,” you said, shaking your head. “I thought…”
She watched you carefully, “You thought you knew who… he was?”
You nodded. You sat down on one of the outdoor tables. You probably looked so embarrassed and pathetic, but you couldn’t help it, you didn’t know how to deal with all of this. You didn’t want to mess it up, yet here you were, making a complete mess of it anyway.
“I thought I knew him and… I guess I was wrong.”
“Did you ask him?” she said, sitting down beside you.
You couldn’t look her in the eyes, instead, you stared at your hands which sat in your lap. “No, I didn’t. I said something I thought he’d get, you know, from one of the other days but…” you sighed, huffing with frustration. “I thought he was the one! Teresa,” you almost choked, “I… wanted it to be him…”
Teresa shook her head, sighing. She didn’t seem worried or concerned in the slightest, in fact, it seemed she had a small smile curling at her lips, “For God’s sake, Y/N.”
You stared hard at her, wiping the few speckles of tears from the corners of your eyes, “What?”
“If you want it to be him then it probably is him!” she answered, exasperated. You stared at her, confused. She rolled her eyes, “Look, when I was at the dance trying to find my stupid soulmate,” she sighed, “I tried being subtle. But boys are stupid, Y/N!”
You laughed, shaking your head, “So, what did you do?”
She thought a moment, her voice quieter than before, “I wanted it to be Thomas. After a while, I started noticing more and more things about him. Things that made sense, things that I liked. But we never spoke. Except for the one time, when he would hold the door open for me and I would say thanks.”
“I tried hinting at it,” she continued, fiddling with her pen, “but it was no use. He was thick,” she rolled her eyes, “or just nervous, like me. I got fed up with it all and didn’t wanna live another day of it, so when I got to the dance, I outright asked him.”
Your eyes widened, “You did?”
“Yeah,” she said. “When I got there, and he held the door open for me. I asked if he was my soulmate. He looked at me like I was crazy, and I almost regretted it but then he nodded.” She smiled at the memory, and you thought it cute. “I asked him if he thought it was me and he said, ‘Why do you think I kept holding the door open for you?’, stupid.”
You laughed, shaking your head. It was such a Thomas thing to do. “So, what… you’re saying I should just ask him?”
Teresa nodded, smiling. “You’ll never know until you know. Then this whole mess will be over, and you can finally make it to Wednesday. Besides, if it isn’t him, he won’t remember after today resets.”
She was right. You suddenly felt confident and you nodded, “Alright.” You stood up from the table, “I think I will. I’ll find him at the race today, that’s where I know he’ll be next.” You hugged Teresa, “Thanks, T.”
“No worries,” she replied, standing up too. She smoothed out her coat, “Did you ever tell us?”
“No,” you answered, honestly.
“How come?”
You shook your head, sighing, “Guess I thought it might mess it up or something… but it seems like I’ve done a pretty good job of that all on my own.”
She smiled, soft, a little amused. You were glad to have her as a friend, she was always logical and calm, which was helpful in your chaotic little mind. She nodded towards her class, “Better get back to it, the bell will go soon.”
You waved her goodbye and headed for class, too. The nerves were still there but now they pushed more for excitement rather than horror and fear. This would be it, the final time you’d relive this day. You were never more excited to reach Wednesday in your whole life.
***
You practically ran for the field as soon as class let out. You didn’t bother much with the stuff in your locker and bag, you didn’t seem to care at all about the test tomorrow. Everything that always was priority suddenly felt unimportant.
There were still a lot of people around by the time you got there, of course, just like the other times. You knew where your friends would be, by the railing, waiting for Minho’s race to start. But of course, they could wait.
The whistles and shouting seemed to drown out as you concentrated. But you couldn’t spot the blond guy anywhere. You scanned the crowds from far away, but groups were spread out all over the field, both competitors and spectators alike. It was hard to keep track. You remembered he was wearing a denim jacket and black jeans; you thought it would help distinguish him from the crowd, but it was almost no use.
You started walking towards your friends after some time went by. But then you realized that he might be heading over to the kiosk again; when you bumped into him that time and first noticed his accent and blond hair. You stopped in your tracks, turning your head immediately in the direction of the snack bar. You couldn’t see much of a line, but you began walking over there anyway. Your pace quickened as you felt butterflies in your stomach. You were practically running, weaving around and through groups of students, but slowed to a stop when you reached the small shed-like compartment. Staff and volunteer students were bustling about, people were just beginning to line up for fresh, hot donuts. You couldn’t see him waiting around, so maybe you were early.
You turned from the line quickly, to look out in the direction of where you remembered he had come from the first time and smacked right into someone. “I’m sorry!” you said quickly, without really looking at who. You were about to walk off when he spoke.
“You!” he said, out of breath. He was shaking his head, “You know how long I’ve been runnin’ around here looking for you?”
You stopped, turned, and met eyes with the brown-eyed, blond stranger. You blinked. “L-Looking for me?”
“What you said earlier,” he breathed, straightening as he gulped down air. He eyed you, a small smile curled his lips, “I’m such an idiot.”
You stared at him, as if you were in shock.
He blinked, suddenly nervous, “You know, the sunset, the—”
“I know,” you breathed, nodding your head.
“I’m sorry I didn’t get it when you said it, I just—”
“Didn’t expect me?” you asked.
He blinked. Running a nervous hand through his hair, his eyes dropped to his shoes, “Nah, not like that. I—” he looked up at you again, “I was surprised you’d said it. I guess… I guess I didn’t expect it to be you, but not because I don’t know who you are.”
You frowned, “What do you mean?”
“Y/N, right?” he asked. His voice was soft and still a little nervous.
“Yeah…”
He smiled, his eyes were kind, “I like it, for the record.” He glanced at the race as the starter pistol echoed and it began, but quickly looked back at you, “I promise I’m not a creepy stalker or anything, I’ve just been doing the same thing almost three times now and I noticed your name badge yesterday.”
“My…?” you were surprised to say the least. You thought back to each work shift but couldn’t place his face in any of those memories, except until after you’d finished and already had your uniform folded up and put in your bag. “You were at Joe’s Diner?”
He laughed a little, and you liked the way his eyes smiled. He suddenly feigned hurt by placing a hand over his heart as if it had been damaged by your words, “You didn’t notice me?”
“I—” you sighed, “I was just real busy…”
“It’s fine,” he said, “I noticed. You were running about, all frazzled.”
“I hope not too frazzled,” you said, embarrassed.
“The cute kind,” he smiled. “My name is Newt, by the way,” he stuck out his hand for you to shake.
You blushed and shook his hand, “It’s good to meet you, finally. I saw you out the front of Joe’s… and I remembered you from bumping into you at the snack bar the first time.”
He chuckled, “Yeah, we’re quite the clumsy pair of soulmates, love. I would’ve stayed, too, to help you with the food you dropped but the bloody race started… Minho would’ve cracked a fit if I missed it. Guess he still will, since today won’t reset again,” he said, in realization.
“We can pretend you watched the whole thing, with me as your witness,” you offered, smiling up at him.
“Cheers, that’d bloody save my ass.” He shook his head as you walked with him, closer to the track. “I can’t believe we missed each other that many times, despite bumping into one another… I looked for you yesterday at the snack bar but couldn’t see you.”
“You looked for me?”
“Yeah,” he said, nervously tucking a curl behind his ear, he shrugged, “I –uh, like I said, I knew who you were. Wanted to see you again.”
You swallowed. You weren’t so anxious anymore, but the nerves were still there. You were talking to your soulmate. And he was into you. You felt stupid for thinking he’d never have any kind of interest. “I thought I would try being in different spots instead of repeating the first day exactly but… obviously, that was dumb.”
“Nah, not dumb, just thinking outside of the box,” he suggested, and you both stopped in front of the railing. You leaned against the metal and squinted as Minho finished the race, winning first place. “You didn’t ever think it would be me?” he asked, bravely.
You looked at him, still leaning on the railing. You felt your cheeks pinken. “I… uh… I wanted it to be you,” you laughed, “I was so nervous, when I blurted out what I said this morning… I panicked.”
He looked amused, his brown eyes squinting with his smile. “You wanted it to be me, huh?” he challenged, and he nudged you in the arm, “thought you didn’t notice me.”
“I did,” you argued, “I thought you were cute. I think you’re cute.” You felt embarrassed for saying it but not so badly, because the way his eyes lit up and his smile grew warmed your heart. “How have we not come across each other? I looked for you in the yearbooks, in the library, and I couldn’t find you.”
His eyebrows raised, “You did? Look who’s the stalker now.”
“Oh, shut up,” you joked, and he laughed.
“It’s probably because… I don’t go to this school.”
Your eyes widened, “You don’t? But I bumped into you at the cafeteria…”
“Yeah,” he said, “I was surprising Minho and Tommy.” He scratched his head, “Technically, you’re fraternizing with the enemy.”
Eyebrows raised, you looked at him, “Enemy?” you laughed.
“You know the school that always comes second to Minho?”
You nodded, thinking back to what Brenda said. “Ah, your school has quite the reputation around here.”
“Not surprised,” Newt said, shaking his head.
“You mustn’t be much of an enemy if you’re friends with Thomas and Minho, though.”
“That’s true,” he nodded, his hand resting on the metal railing. He looked at you for a moment. “You can trust me.”
“You can trust me, too,” you said, somewhat quietly. You felt like you could trust him, the moment you saw him. He had kind eyes and a soft smile. He wasn’t overly boisterous or loud. The attraction you felt toward him when you first saw him hadn’t not meant nothing, it had meant everything.
“So…” he started, leaning back from the railing, shoving his hands into his denim pockets. “I guess I can’t see you after this. I mean, not unless I go to Joe’s.”
You sighed, “Guess not…” you frowned, thinking a moment, “But we could always watch the sunset together afterwards? I heard it’s supposed to be pretty,” you joked.
He smiled again at this, “It sure is.”
***
You definitely noticed him this time. They sat at a booth at the opposite end of the diner to where your tables were, so it wasn’t that much of a surprise that you hadn’t noticed him those times before. This time, however, you couldn’t stop noticing him. And the fact that Teresa and Brenda were both there, too.
You finally told them all about it. Brenda, of course, was the most shocked since she’d been kept in the dark. Teresa wasn’t surprised the least bit when you told her that it had worked out, and that he was your soulmate, though she wasn’t expecting it to be Newt, her soulmate’s close friend.
That, and Brenda wanting to meet this “Newt guy” as she had put it, led to the group hang out at the diner, which was only mildly unfortunate for you since you had to miss out. But you were glad that everything was fixed. You’d met your soulmate. Wednesday would finally come around. You would smash that math test. Brenda got to finally go out with Minho, and you had a sunset to look forward to.
You folded up your uniform and got changed quicker than usual. Everything was packed and you were excited to get going, you almost forgot to clock off and say goodbye to the others. You walked over to their booth at the end, and you were greeted with smiles.
“Y/N,” Newt breathed, “Save me from these crazy people.”
You laughed at his desperation, and he loved it. He could listen to your laugh all day. He jumped up from the booth and nodded to his friends, and you both said goodbye to everyone before exiting the diner. The air outside was crisp and fresh, and the sunset was only just beginning.
Newt said he knew of a park nearby that would have a perfect view of the sky, since it was situated over a kind of valley. He led the way, insisting it was only a short walk. You weren’t so sure about that, but you’d made it to the park in time for the explosion of warm colors in the sky, and a hot chocolate each from the ice cream place nearby.
The grass was golden, and the sky was illuminated with pinks and oranges. You were surprised every single time, despite having seen it before. You both sat on top of a picnic table, heads turned to the view. You could see the city below, in the distance. And the golden glow of dusk. The suburbs behind you and trees to enclose you in this safe, secret spot.
“It really is prettier than last time,” you breathed.
“Agreed, but maybe that’s because I have such pretty company.”
You rolled your eyes jokingly at him and he laughed at your response, “Cheesy.”
“Good kind of cheesy though, right?”
“Maybe,” you smiled.
You both sipped at your warm drinks in silence, taking in the wonderful array of colors, and just enjoying each other’s company. After a bit, he spoke, “Nice trick with the hot sauce.”
You frowned, eyebrows furrowing, “What do you mean?”
“You know,” he sipped at his drink, “You caught it again.” He looked at you and you were waiting for an explanation. “You dropped it the first time. Smashed to a million pieces, had to clean it up, remember?”
Your cheeks pinkened, “You saw that? Jeez…”
“How could I not?” he teased, “But hey, it’s what made me notice you. Then I realized you were the girl I bumped into two times that day.”
You shook your head, “Right, the cafeteria… the field… wait a minute—” you looked at him again, his brown eyes reflected the warmth from the sky, “You knew I caught it the second Tuesday and today?”
“Yeah,” he nodded, as if it didn’t mean anything. Then his eyes widened. “Oh for—”
“Newt!” you said, nudging his arm, and he almost spilled his drink on himself. You both laughed at how clumsy and thick you both were. “I can’t believe you saw me catch the sauce; didn’t you think something was up? I mean, things were a little different depending on how different your choices were, but stuff like that—”
“I know, I know,” he sighed, shaking his head. His hair fell around his face, making his curls super fluffy and cute. You were in awe. His cheeks were a little pink when he caught you staring at him.
“It’s okay,” you said, “We got here in the end, right?”
“Right,” he agreed. He was looking at you still, you could feel it, even though you’d turned to watch the sky again. “Y/N?”
He glanced at your hand, the one that rested on top of the table which you both sat on. He held out his hand to you, “This okay?”
You offered your hand to him and he took it, and you leaned in closer to him resting on his shoulder. Your hands clasped together, sat on your leg, fingers intertwined. He liked that you felt safe with him, as he did with you, and you both knew that even though you still had to a lot to get to know about each other, this connection was by far the strongest thing you ever felt.
“I can’t wait for tomorrow,” he breathed.
“Me too.”
