so aside from the fact that they are absolutely not sisters by default, least of all canonically (even if you do interpret them that way somehow), nor was it ever intended by nate stevenson, i’m still having trouble figuring out how this is problematic.

in which ways is lighthearted touch totally contradictory to passionate kissing/caressing? why can’t partners who are dating do both, especially in different cultural environments such as the horde where intimacy is discouraged and friendly sparring with familiar peers is a safe expression? if it’s so different, what are we as the audience supposed to interpret from their style of physical affection by the final season? side note, but aren’t we supposed to consider the latest version of anything in general as the most accurate?

anyway, as i’ve discussed on this blog before, i’m very arospec and it’s inseparably intwined with my identity itself; i also project that onto catra. something we often bring up in that community, is romance-favorability (as its own spectrum of range all the way to blatant repulsion btw) — which is a personal preference that’s defined as exactly as it sounds like and occasionally revolves around fictional depiction as separate from one's own reality — and arguably more importantly, amatonormativity — which is an arbitrary set of rules for romantic expectations set up by an alloromantic society. this is typically thought of as common denial of the idea that someone could actually want to separate themself from needing a life partner in marriage, but can very much be applied to an annoying list of what draws the line between romantic & platonic relationships. that line is very individualistic and is to be decided on such a level only, and it doesn’t even get into what queerplatonic means, a concept saved for another day!

my point is, the OP seems to be trying to claim that catradora objectively cannot be read as romantic because their dynamic growing up & early-on in the story doesn’t perfectly meet socially-constructed standards of what that should look like. i say we need to eradicate those standards altogether! it’s up to catradora to decide what they are, if anything specific at all, not us as the audience — assuming they could’ve had the words at their disposal to knowingly describe it. going back to my earlier paragraph above about how limited they were in the fright zone, i’ll borrow a quote from a comment i made on one of my recent reblogged posts (which is a great meta on how their mutual desire was uh... definitely not platonic):

"Catra and Adora’s desire for one another is shown in a variety of ways, mostly indirect. There are a lot of glances - until season 5, not the kind of open leering at one another that we’d seen between other characters. it's really bothering me that i can't recall where i read this from before, but someone analyzed before how, growing up, catra & adora didn't have a good sense of how to label their relationship with accurate terminology despite being subconsciously aware that they, whether they knew the other reciprocated or not, loved each other "like that." unfortunately, they couldn't further explore it because such love & affection was seen as a punishable weakness in the horde, so they resorted to the only safe option they seemed to have, which was subtle body language and play-fighting as [testudoaubrei-blog] described above.

i was inspired by @etherealspacejelly to journal about my adhd medication, so here we go !

day 1

i took the medicine after eating breakfast, so around 10:30 or 11am approximately ? i can't remember. then i got dressed and ready to leave the house

i realised i had forgotten my earplugs so i couldn't listen to music on the walk to the students union, but it's okay because my brain has a built in sound system that can play songs very loudly whenever it wants

i met my friend for lunch and i felt kind of weird ? i was listening but i didn't know how to reply (this is a regular occurrence for me because i'm autistic and often struggle with talking, sometimes i can't speak at all). and i also felt dizzy and not fully awake. but i get that a lot anyway so idk if it's the meds or just normal binya activities

then two more of my friends turned up and we tried to study together. of course studying with friends is distracting under any circumstances, but normally i manage to get quite a lot done. however today i felt much more restless and distracted than usual. i felt like the lecturer was talking too slowly even though i sped the recording up to 1.5x speed

maybe it's just because the content was particularly boring, but after revising my first lecture i was so restless that i had to go and walk around the park to get the energy out (also i wanted to say hello to the pigeons !!)

then i revised my second lecture of the day and it was equally annoying but i got through it. i finished that and went to take a break in the prayer room.

i went on my phone for the first time in hours (normally i am always compulsively checking my phone) and interestingly i didn't waste a bunch of time scrolling like i usually do. i just checked my notifications and then put it away and got up and did something else. this is very out of character for me !!

i got back from my break and was hungry so i had a snack while starting the third lecture. then i got distracted by my friend (not their fault, i was bored and willingly paused the lecture to chat) and we ended up chatting for like a further 4 hours. and i never finished the last lecture lol but it's okay i can do it tomorrow

i got home and realised i was extremely overstimulated from socialising for so many hours so i sat down in my room and switched off the light. i'm feeling dizzy again, my head feels kinda weird like i can hear the blood moving around inside ?? which happened when i started antidepressants too, so maybe this is just how my body reacts every time i start a new medication

i checked my phone and quickly looked through all my notifications, and the idea of scrolling aimlessly (which is usually very tempting) is strangely unappealing so i decided to make this post instead. my plan is to shower after posting this and then make dinner (i know it's late but i'm not really hungry yet)

i am very thirsty but they said that's a normal side effect of the meds. and i have a slight headache. i am drinking a lot of water so i'm sure it will be fine

even though i got up earlier than usual i don't feel sleepy. i will update tomorrow with how well i sleep tonight etc.

anyway that's all i can think of to mention so far, i'll try to do this every day for the next couple of weeks if i remember, or at least as often as possible :)

how do you clone a fey? that's trick question; and fey love those!

@the-navistar-carol (<333) brought up a good point while I was talking about my changeling danny au with her -- Dani! How would she exist in this au? Danny's a changeling - a fae. How would Dani, a clone of him, be created? How do you make a fey? Not through any means that Vlad is doing; you can't make a fey through unnatural means, considering the Fair Folk are nature. And Vlad's not a fey himself -- he's a halfa, even if he could make a fey, it's not in his best interest too. He's a powerful ghost, but even the weakest fae can overpower the strongest ghost. He won't want a clone of Daniel to be more powerful than him.

(In a three tier hierarchy it goes Ancients -> Fae/Mythos -> Ghosts. They all live in the Infinite Realms, but on different Planes. The fae live above the Ghost Zone in the Fey Wild, while the Mythos live beside the Wilds or down in the ghost zone depending on where they are. Places like the Frozone, the Athens Acropolis, and other such large islands climb throughout all three Planes.)

(While Ghosts can travel into the Fey Wild, its generally advised against as the ectoplasm tends to manifest differently there due to close contact magic. It can make it rather disorientating for a ghost, and as human spirits, the Fae living there would jump them faster than they could blink. So unless you're willing to play mind games with 'steal thy name eat thy face' fae, most ghosts keep out of the way of the Wilds. Fey can travel down into the Ghost Zone, they just don't bother.)

That's of course, not taking into account if Vlad even knows Danny's a fae himself. Vlad doesn't ring me as someone who really cares much about ghost culture or the going ons of the GZ. He might be aware that fae exist, but the moment he realizes he can't use them for personal gain he just doesn't bother with them. The risk is greater than the reward, and he'd rather not get eaten. But lets assume he's aware by now that Danny is fey, and has to take that into account while cloning him.

So, how does Dani exist? Good question! Honestly; i'm not sure. She might not exist at all, or if she does, she's more halfa than fey. Vlad would need a lot of human dna and ectoplasm to balance out all that fae magic. He manages to steal DNA from Jack and Maddie to do it, and since Jack's fey ancestry is very dormant its much easier to use alongside Danny's DNA.

In turn, it results in a little girl whose more human-ghost hybrid than clone. With that little extra boost in fey magic making her not a fey, but still relatively powerful. Dani is less of a clone and more of a lab-grown little sister. It's a rather tedious, complex process that has Vlad tearing his hair out trying to figure out. But he does eventually figure it out.

but i seriously have never watched a single episode of that show and despite all the controversy and drama i've seen come from the discussion of both the show and its creator, the only thing that really bugs me out of the blue when i'm reminded HH exists are those exclusive playbills that people pre-ordered months ago and still haven't arrived

that is it, that is literally the extent of my engagement with the HH fandom, there will be no further questions about what i think regarding HH because i literally have no idea, they are best asked to whoever comes close to being the generic-puff equivalent of the HH fandom

Tommy wants to marry him and have children with him, and just be with him. Sometimes it’s still so shocking to Buck that someone as great and amazing as Tommy wants him, but he does. Buck’s not sure he remembers the last time he felt this wanted.

“How- how do you know I won’t ask first?” Buck asks, moving his head slightly closer to Tommy, just enough to look into his beautiful blue eyes. It feels surreal, talking about this, when they only dated for a few months, but it also feels… right. It feels like they’re on the right track to get there one day.
