/ @theorganon ; that thing we discussed !
gently hands wrap around the flower pot, as she lifts it from her workbench. the roots were nearly too damaged to save ; but sylvia is nothing if not persistent. centuries of life will do that to an individual. there's a moment in which her mind swirls around those centuries -- the changes she's seen, the things she's lost. of course, with loss, there is always gain. a sigh slips from her lips as she turns on her heel. she takes a single step forward before her vision goes black. she feels the ground give out beneath her.
she inhales a large breath, only to feel her mouth fill with dirt. one hand grips around the potted plant that somehow made this weird journey with her. her other hand makes quick work to pull her collar around her mouth. it does little good, but a little is all she really needs. she tucks the plant within the crook of her elbow, before she lets her fingers begin to claw at the dirt falling around her. it takes less than two minutes before she feels cool air hit her hands. thankfully, it's a fresh grave.
nails dig into the fresh dirt as she pulls herself out of the earth. fresh breaths of air are pulled desperately into her lungs. ( she's pulled herself from her own grave -- this stranger's is nothing. ) she half-haphazardly dumps the plant onto the patch of dug soil, careful to keep it upright, as she pulls herself completely from the dirt. eyes study the darkened sky above her, as she gives herself a moment to catch her breath. this sky is different from the one she is used to. this air is different from the one she is used to. the thought rises her from her laid position faster than she knows she should, though, she feels no wave of dizziness like she expects.
eyes glance around the area, as she notices the tracks of soil covered bare feet leading into the path of yellow leaves. "what is this ? the wizard of oz ?" words are mumbled to herself, as she gathers her potted plant, and lifts herself to her feet. she moves to brush the dirt from her dress, her eyes casting down before -- a loud groan falls from her lips. she should have listened to her instincts this morning and worn a darker color. the baby blue dress is now covered in a thick layer of soil and [ . . . ] she doesn't want to even think about it.
eyes move back ahead of her, before a sigh is slipping from her lips. "great. could've at least given me a road sign, or something." her words are once more mumbled out to only herself, as she begins to follow the lightening footsteps on the path. she's lost count of her steps before she's hearing voices ahead of her.
'no, i'm not doing it !' eyebrows furrow softly -- she recognizes that voice, but she just can't place it. 'a mutiny already ?' another familiar voice, though, this one tickles something older in her mind. 'we have to, and you know it.' 'someone could die -- again !' feet quicken their steps, as she curls around the path and spots a large house ahead. and, just before it, a group of people. though, sylvia's eyes land on one person specifically. "eden ?" eyebrows lift in surprise as seven heads turn towards her. "what the hell is going on here ?"

15 (sylvia)
15: what is your character afraid of?
In a literal sense, Sylvia has a huge fear of the basement and attic of her house. She was never allowed to go up there, and her parents would tell her scary stories to keep her away from there. Nice people. They knew she was terrified of old dolls and so they told her that the attic is full of ghosts and the basement is rife with the old antique dolls that Sylvia’s grandmother used to collect.
In a less than literal sense, she’s got a fear of abandonment, for obvious reasons. She clings to her friends and what she thinks to know resolutely. She’s a stubborn person that hates to see what’s right in front of her. Being abandoned and betrayed are things she can’t fathom experiencing, but unfortunately, will have to.

Another artistic touch to her portrait, it’s Cape Town but at night this artistic touch of Cape Town at night worked perfectly with the outfit that Jane was wearing the colours just blended in. But let’s talk a little bit more about Jane. - As you know, most women love to keep their hair long and when you look back on Janes Instagram page she had lovely long hair. But she told me something personal that happened to her family. There was a sad loss in the family where they had lost their stepdaughter. It’s had affected the family deeply. Out of deep love and a tribute to her stepdaughter Jane had cut her beautiful hair. - No doubt Jane’s hair meant a lot to her, it was precious, but in demonstration of cutting her hair, she showed how precious her stepdaughter was to her. Such love is rare especially when the person is not biologically related to you. But to Jane, it didn’t matter whether her daughter was biologically related to her or not, Jane loved her as a daughter, that came from her womb. Does that not tell you about this woman, Jane. Again a wonderful wife, a wonderful friend, and clearly I loving supportive mother. - Please show some love and support to our dear sister Jane. Please like and follow her on Instagram. . -👇 @silver_is_sexy Like I said, like my beautiful wife Sylvia, with Jane there’s more to her that meets the eye. - - Tagged the ones that that know and love Jane, and I would love to collaborate with🙏🏿❤️ - - - Big thank you to my sponsor Janet Munsterman -👇 @janet_munstermam - And to my Patreon subscribers who help keep me going, thank you for your support.❤️🙏🏿 - - - - - - #photo #photoshoot #shoot #shootingphoto #couples #photooftheday #bestoftheday #pictureoftheday #photograph #beauty #cute #tbt #portraitphotography #photogram #instalove #streetphotography #insta #modelagency #sonyalpha #fotografia #picture #landscapephotography #fashionshoot #photographyoftheday #fashionphotography #hdr #pics #photograpy #instaphoto #photomodel (at London, United Kingdom) https://www.instagram.com/p/CPqzWBTL1YK/?utm_medium=tumblr

Another Thursday brings another book tag. Thursdays don’t necessarily mean book tags here on Fangirl Fury, by a nomination from Rebecca of mylifeasasportsfangirl to do the #NotAll Book Tag came at the perfect time. I originally had three posts scheduled this week, and I admit that I was feeling a bit weird. I’d say for the past two months, I’ve been scheduling at least four posts a week (winter break is amazing for a reason).
While I do plan on doing 4 a week for the next few weeks, I think at some point I will be going back to my original schedule of just posting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. My spring semester just started and I NEVER WANT MY WORST NIGHTMARE TO COME TRUE, where I go to schedule and I have no posts ready to go.
Anyways, thank you for reading through my scheduling stress and now let’s get to the tag. Almost every reader has certain bookish pet peeves or tropes that drive them up a wall, but the #NotAll Book Tag is about those exceptions (we all have one love triangle that doesn’t make us completely bananas). The #NotAll Book Tag was created by theoragutanlibrarian.
#NOTALL COVER CHANGES– A COVER CHANGE YOU LIKED
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. I actually haven’t read this series (I feel like it’s one I’ll pick up when all the books are out), but the new covers to me scream kick-butt fantasy series, while the old covers scream WALL.
#NOTALL ADAPTATIONS– AN ADAPTATION YOU LOVE MORE THAN THE BOOK
The Princess Diaries, aka one of my all-time favorite moviesaka WHERE IS THE THIRD ONE??
#NOT ALL TROPES– A TROPE YOU’LL NEVER TIRE OF SEEING
The trope in which the female protagonist ends up with the guy who has been there all along. This guy is almost always adorably sweet, a bit nerdy, and 100% book boyfriend material. I’m looking at you Max Watson (The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord) & Reid (The Upside Down of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli).
#NOTALL INSTALOVE– YOU INSTALOVED THIS COUPLE
A Taxonomy of Love by Rachael Allen. In this case, I’m thinking about one character who’s  immediately smitten when he meets the girl next-door.
#NOT ALL LOVE TRIANGLES– AN EXAMPLE OF A LOVE TRIANGLE DONE WELL
P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han. P.S. I Still Love You‘s love triangle is done well in the sense THAT YOU DON’T KNOW WHO TO CHOOSE AND THE ONLY THING THAT WILL MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER ARE SOME COOKIES BAKED BY LARA JEAN (also #tbt to when we thought that this was the last book in the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series and our emotions were REALLY all over the place).
#NOTALL VILLAINS– A VILLAIN YOU LOVE
Okay, so I really can’t think of any villain that I genuinely like, so let’s go with a character that I like who’s questionably a villain: Holland from A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab.
#NOTALL CHOSEN ONES– A CHOSEN ONE YOU CAN GET BEHIND
Diana from Wonder Woman:Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo. Diana is so full of purpose and no one can get in her way (especially guys on the subway).
#NOTALL HYPED BOOKS– A BOOK THAT LIVED UP TO THE ACCLAIM
Scythe by Neal Schusterman. DO NOT BE SCARED BY THE HYPE LIKE I WAS GUYS BECAUSE SCYTHE IS THE SCI-FI READ THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED. I’m so freaking excited for my review to go up next week and I really need Thunderhead in my life right now.
#NOTALL CONTEMPORARY– A BOOK YOU’RE NOT KEEN ON FROM YOUR FAVORITE GENRE
Bittersweet by Sarah Ockler. I thought this book would be perfect because it featured baking and hockey, but unfortunately, Bittersweet had a whole lot of fluff that didn’t work  (but it did make me want a cupcake, so that’s a plus).
#NOTALL CLASSICS– A BOOK YOU LIKED FROM A GENRE YOU DON’T READ OFTEN
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. A classic with a writing style that I could actually understand without reading the same passage 10 times, what?????
Interested in doing the #NotAll Book Tag? Then congratulations, you’ve been tagged!
Are there any tropes that you could endlessly read? Share in the comments!

10 tips for improving your branding on Instagram
How to build your brand on Instagram
Great social media strategies need continuous follower growth, engagement, and actions, e.g. clicks. And Instagram just might be your best opportunity for achieving this quickly. SEO should always be an important part of your online marketing strategy. But let's face it, you're unlikely to beat the big brands with enormous budgets for a spot on page one of Google's search results anytime soon.
Source: ArthurStock
This is why social media can be a powerful ally to smaller brands when trying to grow your reach and presence online. You don't need a huge budget to still be effective, using, for instance, Facebook ads. But as powerful and inexpensive as these can be, the sad truth is that organic reach and engagement on Facebook has plateaued in recent years.
Where to Turn? Instagram.
Consider some statistics compiled by selfstartr.com in this great infographic comparing Facebook and Instagram for marketers in recent years.
Organic marketing reach on Facebook is down 63% over the last 4 years, while Instagram's organic marketing reach is up 115%.
The percentage of Instagram users who regularly engage with brands is more than double that of Facebook.
Instagram has 58% more engagement per follower than Facebook.
Only 36% of marketers are using Instagram, compared to 93% of marketers who are already on Facebook.
Instagram has a higher average order value than Facebook ($65 vs $55)
Brands on Facebook reach only 6% of their followers per post, while brands on Instagram reach 100% of their followers.
Less competition, a more engaged audience and an enormous increase in organic reach. The verdict is clear: shifting your marketing efforts to Instagram is a smart move.
So, now you know where to grow your reach effectively and quickly.
But, if you've never included Instagram in your marketing, you may not know how to make it happen. And if you have, maybe a refresh of your Instagram strategy is overdue?
So, whether you're a newcomer or just need ideas, these 10 branding tips will help you to succeed on the platform.
1. It's all about the visuals
Users are more likely to act if they can easily recognize your brand from miles away. To achieve that, you just need to follow these four key rules:
Create visuals that are consistent in style and quality
Choose a color scheme and stick to it whenever possible
If you use filters, make sure to use the same ones
Don't overcrowd your images and captions with text.
If you execute well, then your brand will be recognized immediately, even if a user only glances at an individual image in their stream.
One brand that has mastered this is Nike. The brand features their products in every single post, but always in a visually striking or subtle way.

Our dreams are small. One millisecond, one quarter-inch, one breath. We'll spend a lifetime chasing them. Because these small things, Make all the difference. #justdoit Stay connected with your favorite athletes through the link in our bio.

Nike builds their online (and offline presence) with motivational images with athletes and customers. Their iconic slogan "Just Do It" is at the heart of their branding strategy, and it's visible on every social media network they are present on. When you see their posts, you know it's Nike. No brand name or logo required.
So, be creative. Don't just snap a picture of a product and slap a filter on it. The solution to create something different and unique could be simpler than you think.

If your resources are limited, you could create images with quotes or client testimonials, and even snap product previews with your phone. Just remember to always keep quality and the right color scheme in mind.
2. Hire a professional
If you're not the creative type or your images aren't capturing enough attention, don't fret - there is a bit of an art to it.
Consider employing a social media manager with experience in design or photography. Turning your followers into customers will take much more than a dozen pretty images on Instagram, so it's best to invest early.
If you already have a marketing professional who is doing a great job, consider outsourcing visual assets. Photographers can do a series of photoshoots and supply you with images for use on your website, blog and of course, social media. If you are B2B or sell SaaS software, consider hiring a designer instead to help you illustrate your products and services.
Take a look online to see if there are any talented photographers or designers in your area. Odds are there will be at least a few who would be willing to partner with you.
We have a thing for taking notes.

3. Make the most of your visuals.
It's quite common for brands to share the same posts across all social networks. The best practice on social is to always adapt your messaging by audience and platform. The great thing about images is that they're much more universal than text.
For example, you can use the same image and upload it to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter. Pinterest and Tumblr have different audiences but are built around images, just like Instagram. Great images can bridge the divide inbetween, meaning that you can potentially triple your reach with the exact same image.
Just remember to optimize images for each channel first (to help here's an image sizes cheat sheet).
If you already have a presence on other social media networks, you can repurpose some images to jump start your Instagram campaigns.
4. Use #hashtags
Hashtags aren't just great for Twitter, they can also help users discover your brand on Instagram.
The maximum amount of hashtags you can add per Instagram post is 30, but you should aim to use much less than that. Try adding five to ten and see how well your posts perform. Then, look at how many new followers come on board and whether you’ve achieved your target level of engagement.
You can use your own, campaign specific hashtags as well as the more popular hashtags to broaden your potential reach. Examples: #love (used in 700 million posts), #instagood (used is 300 million posts), or #tbt (Throwback Thursday). Hashtags don't have to be esoteric or catchy, though. If your business deals with real estate, #realestate will work just fine.
Remember that volume of usage isn't everything. Instagram's search tool is a free and easy way to check hashtags are relevant. Similarly, if you search for your #brandname you may find user generated content hidden away on this social media platform.
5. Partner for a good cause
Being socially responsible isn't just a way to make the world a better place. It is also a way of connecting with like-minded individuals and attracting their attention.
If you sell a product that has been sourced responsibly (organic, Fairtrade, dolphin-friendly), then it's worth telling others about it. On the other hand, donating profits or partnering with a non-profit on the other hand, can give also boost your promotion and extend your reach.
Even if you don't officially partner with a non-profit organisation, you can still give to charity or fundraise a couple of times a year. It's all good as long as the cause aligns with your brand values and mission.
6. Be entertaining and/or inspirational
It's short of amazing that this still needs to be repeated, even after a decade of social media marketing advances and information.
Your audience needs to enjoy seeing your posts, and without a sales pitch! So, make sure your posts are entertaining, inspirational or at the very least, useful. Instagram offers advertising for business, so if you want to drive action or really put your brand out there, invest in ads instead.

7. Promote others and repost
In the same vein as partnering with a cause, you can partner with other businesses by using 'shout-outs'.
An unpaid shout-out is when you partner with another brand that has roughly the same number of followers as you. You promote their brand and they promote yours, and both brands receive benefit from increased exposure.
A paid shout-out is for those with a bigger budget. The idea is that you pay a brand (or influencer) with a much larger following to promote your product or service. This is a great way to gain a large number of new followers quickly. Make sure that you ask them to include a strong call to action in the shout-out, e.g. to follow your account.

In addition to this, you can also repost images posted by your customers related to your brand on your personal feed (just remember to tag them). They will appreciate the gesture and it's also a great way to show that you have a lot of happy customers.
8. Engage
No matter what platform you are on, you have to be social first - never forget that!
So, make sure that you engage with your followers and other users. Look for industry influencers, bloggers and partners, make sure to follow them and engage with their content. You could even follow publishing networks or magazines that you would like to be feature in.
9. Use the link in the bio
Links in your Instagram posts aren't clickable, so you need to take advantage of the one place where they are - in the Bio section. It's right under your name and the description at the top of your Instagram page. Most brands use this to link to their website, but that's a bit of a missed opportunity.
You should consider changing the link regularly, especially during promotions and product releases. It could be a landing page, new product range or even your blog - whichever will bring in more value to you at the time.
10. Measure and adapt
As with any kind of marketing, it’s all in vain until you discover what works best for your brand and audience. You can read all the articles in the world about best publishing times and practices, but it's only through testing that you will get results.
Social media management tools can help, though. You can use them not only to schedule your campaigns in advance, but also use social media analytics to measure their success. Regularly, measure your follower count, engagement and clicks, all to refine and improve your Instagram strategy.
So, there you have it - 10 great tips on improving your brand presence on Instagram. Hope you create stellar content for Instagram with these tips and reach even more potential customers on this social media platform.
