History/Background:
Stacy was born on Feb. 21, 1941. Her biological mother was Peggy Carter, who offered to have the child for Steve and Bucky who wanted a kid (the government couldn't do anything bc they were American heroes and they kept it quiet). After her dads died around 1946, she was taken in by Peggy Carter. Six years later, Stacy was kidnapped by HYDRA and cryrofrozen for later experimentation so they might have another supersoldier. In 2012, after the Battle of New York, the Avengers found the HYDRA bunker she was in and rescued her. She was trained by Agent Romanoff and Barton and became a SHIELD Agent. After SHIELD fell, she joined the Avengers, and became known as the hero called Lady Liberty. She has since grown as a hero and become a valuable avenger.
Relationships: Steve Rogers (father, biological), Bucky Barnes (father, adopted), Peggy Carter (mother, biological, hates her), Natasha Romanoff (mother figure), Wanda Maximoff (big sister figure), Yelena Belova (auntie figure), Peter Parker (best friend), Lily Evans (first lover), Aiden D'Amore (second lover)
Aliases: Lady Liberty (Alias/Call Sign, SHIELD (formerly), The Avengers
Additional Notes/Facts:
Stacy grew up in a mixed culture/faith household, with Steve being Irish Catholic and Bucky being Jewish. She's not sure which she identifies with more religiously, but is happy hanging out in the middle ground.
She is obsessed with Star Wars, as is Peter. They geek out and go to cons together
She and Peter are neurodivergent superpowered besties
She calls Steve "Papa" and Bucky "Daddy" (it was the 40s, grow up). She won't let the internet ruin that for her
As much as she hates all the monetization of her papa's hero identity, she can't live without the Star Spangled Man latte they serve at Starbucks (it has lots of sugar and cream, plus a load of strawberry and blue raspberry syrup)
routinely says fuck you to the government, and can and has used malicious compliance against them before going completely feral
In the modern age, she and her dads have been arrested at protests/pride parades. the cops immediately back off once they realize who they are
Stacy is Team Waffles, as is Steve. Bucky is firmly Team Pancakes. This does cause squabbles at breakfast sometimes
She is agressively bisexual, just like her papa
Her suit starts out as the SHIELD suit, then one similar to Steve's with muted colors, then dark greens and blacks in Black Widow, then after Endgame it's variations of olive green with gold accents
Her two most notable multiverse variants are Thanos-Killer Stacy and Ultron-Apocalypse Stacy

Slim yet small muscular built body
5'3 1/2' or 161 cm
114 pounds or 52 kg
Has a small scar on her left cheek (will be explained later)
Faceclaim: Sophie Cookson
personality: Witty, Rational, Extroverted, Compassionate, Serious, Loyal, Dependable, and Kind.
power(s):
Solider Serum (Artifically Enhanced Physiology; Enchanced Strength, Durability, Speed, Agility, e.g.)
Decelerated Aging
Empathy (Empathic) → Various sub-variants (ex: Pain Manipulation, Stress Manipulation, Telempathy, Emotional Energy Manipulation, e.g.)
limitation(s): Limit to (3 per) individual.
Human/Humanity → like many others she suffers from still being human despite being more advanced and having some serum passed down to her genetics. She can still die, and she can sometimes lose her own mind/humanity.
Emotions → for Cassandra her emotions seem to get in her way from time to time. When she was younger it typically occurred more frequently.
Trauma → Like some other characters, Cassandra faces her trauma which yeah it can effect her emotional response and emotions. But it also affects her ration at times and can be hard for her to get back into swing including in battle.
some additional note(s) about Cassandra:
She was born early on but has decreased aging due to her blood line and then eventual experiments she would face. She stayed a young age for awhile.
Was temporary frozen in early hydro-freezing techniques when captured at an early age.
Raised with her siblings from her mother as she grew to care for her younger siblings. Until she went missing.
Didn't know much more than what her mother originally gave her on her father until she met him in 2014.
She started high school in the 60s but didn't go back until her Sophomore year until the 2010s. Which did make her feel out of place, which we still see after the events in Endgame.
I would like to think maybe Steve came back after the Stones to stay with his daughter, and retired as she now goes on missions with her Aunts and Uncles.
quote:
"I would assure you to have better manners in front of me if I were you. But since you insulted my friends I'm afraid I've got to skip to step five now..."
More about Cassandra Rogers can be found in the character masterlist or her tag in which it will provide more context. Stay Tuned!!

{✗} The girl looks familiar. Far more familiar than she should. Natasha squints her eyes, tilts her head and examines her--still her gun remains up and aimed. Her index finger rests on the barrel, waiting for an attack. The blasts shook her to her core, rattled the newly rebuilt kitchen in the compound.
“Who the HELL are you?” She asks, arching a brow. Her tea is pushed to the side, her book tossed carelessly on the floor. Her hand had reached for her pistol easily enough.
And she thought she was DONE with her fair share of the bizarre when she came back from the soul realm.

Okay I hyperfixated on the Rogers : The musical. So below is my longass headcannon for song titles, song content, and general plot
Kingvonschweetz on tiktok had some great ideas I am basing this off of. Also one tiktoker who deleted their comment but like “ I am not my father ( I am my father’s son)” is a good ass song title.
Furthermore, there is only so much that the public knew, so certain characters or plot point can’t be in here. I did take some liberties with song titles and connected them to quotes despite knowing this wouldn’t be the true title.
This is the longest post I’ve ever posted.
Act I
Remember the Fallen
I think that the beginning should be a memorial, much like Wicked with No one mourns for the wicked (but positive). This could be used as a memorial for those lost. The opening set would be like the museum exhibit. With the actors rather than mannequins. The living walking amongst the dead, literal or a drawing / picture version.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The pictures behind would be of others, everyone should be represented howling commandos, fallen avengers, and Peggy. Some could be copies of sketches Steve made, I’m sure those would have been published. Then from here we would transition into the upbeat story of young Steve and Bucky
‘Til the end of the line (’til the end of time)
This would be a stereotypical, best friends forever, we’ll face the world together kind of song. Pointing out the trouble Steve gets in and Bucky bails him out. How awkward Steve is with girls, but both of their attempts to woo ladies. This would go into the war and Bucky being enlisted and Steve wanting to join him, and the insistence that they needed to do this together too.
Self-Made Man
I think this is a cute little introduction for Howard Stark - This would be at the Stark Expo and would be a running motif while Steve gets to know him and once we get to Tony.
I don’t like bullies, don't care where they’re from
This is the meeting with Dr. Erskine where we get to find out Steve’s motives and the story behind Redskull / why Erskine wants Steve specifically. This is where we get the “ good men becomes great” speech and establish the super serum and what it is.
A good man (The First Avenger)
This would be the transformation of Steve as well as the death of Dr. Erskine. We get to see the man Steve become, the confirmation of Dr. Erskine poking him in the chest to remind Steve of who he is and to show how the death affected Steve. Dr. Erskine was a good man and the first person that was Avenged.
Do you Fondue?
Another little mood break, but this would be a mood break where we see Steve and Peggy start to fall in love and learn more about Howard’s playful personality. I think it might be something more fluid / jazzy that Steve has issues keeping up with bc he can’t dance. This would be the cultivation of Captain America, outfit/shield.
Star Spangled Man with a Plan
This would be his role as Captain America, and eventually his mission to save Bucky
Take my hand
This would be about Bucky being by his side and always having his back/ brotherhood of the commandos. Until Bucky falls and Steve is alone, and it essentially ends with Steve begging for Bucky to take his hand and pull him back to his feet because he doesn’t know how to go forward from this. This is where Peggy would come in while he was drinking and comfort him and remind him that Bucky made a choice for himself.
Take my hand / Dance with me
A thought of how Peggy could turn Steve’s song from violent to a softer song, turning it with the same tune to something else.
I can do this all day / It's really no choice at all
Fight with Red skull. Would have similarities with Take my hand at the end, speaking with Peggy and letting her know he is making his choice (like bucky did) and then the promise to dance, they can go through something similar to their earlier song.
Act II
Opens with an Instrumental (A S.H.I.E.L.D. around the world) which will come up later. This introduces Shield and is the whole Steve waking up thing. No Nick Fury because he doesn’t exist to the public.
Man Out of Time
This would be Steve coping with the major change, and also foreshadowing/acknowledging Peggy’s imminent death.
I am not my father ( I am my father’s son)
Good old Tony. This would use motifs from self made man and kind of be Steve’s condescending way of poking at him, by saying he’s NOT a self made man but rather a legacy child. Establishing conflicting personalities and character foils for later.
A S.H.I.E.L.D around the world
This would be the creation of the Avenger’s team and the events of the first Avenger’s movie. Also their missions in general, essentially that they are the protectors / establishing the organization in the plot.
I’ll be there (On your left)
I think this is a funny little ballad, but also heartfelt as it’s the first time you see Steve make friends. Furthermore, you see that Sam is there to support him and truly understands how he feels.
The Winter Soldier
So I think this would be a fast paced kinda "Who are you?" " who am I? What do you mean who am I? Who are you? " " who am I ? ... who am I ? " " a good man ". This would use motif of A good man from act I, with Steve believing Bucky is a good person and needing to prove it to others. I think that Bucky, despite not completely knowing why also returns the sentiment when he saves Steve. I think “ ‘til the end of the line “, can make an appearance but I think it’s important to establish that Bucky is redeemable to set the stage for the fight over him.
If we lose, we’ll do that together too
The musical can’t be five hours long so unfortunately we have to fit age of Ultron and civil war into this song. It would most likely be easiest to have it recap the fall of shield and ultron ( which the public I don't think knows was Tony's creation otherwise SI would've gone bankrupt ).
Sokovia accords
This might be best as an ensemble - public view point of how the avengers were viewed and the bombing. Bucky / Wanda specifically, no one knowing what to do.
He’s my friend, so was I
Depending on how public the split was, this would be the fight at the airport, I don’t believe the Siberia fight wouldn't be public knowledge. It would have the overture of “Take my hand” in it though, the desperation to make amends but ultimately not being able to do it.
Act III
I’ll be there (No man left behind)
This would be the prison break, upbeat and very team like. This would also be them being vigilantes as I’m assuming they didn’t stop saving people even though they’re in hiding.
Star Spangled Man with a Plan - Reprise
This would be the fight with Thanos, then when the snap happens at a high point, you hear voices going out. Bucky’s voice is gone, Wanda’s voice is gone, T'Challa's voice is gone, half the instruments are gone, so the background doesn’t sound right.
Never meet your heroes
This is Tony’s return / his little meltdown. He went off to raise his family so everyone knows that him and Steve didn’t reconcile. I think it use an overture from  “we’ll do that together too” but that’s me digging into movie quotes. I think this could also be the world realizing the avengers weren't going to save them and how the world kinda crashes.
A world on fire (What more could I lose?)
Steve lost Bucky and I don’t know if Clint’s killstreak is gonna be public, we’ll see in Hawkeye. The Asgardian relocation definitely had to be global news. I think this would be a good song to show how they’re struggling just like the rest of the world was.
Hope
Scott of course comes in and saves the day with his little speech of optimism, Hope’s name is a cute pun where he gets to explain what he’s lost and how he has hope that they can fix it. Tony ofc shuts him down, maybe - I don't have hope, I have Morgan. Some sort of quip. - I am slightly conflicted bc I don't know if hope / Scott's identities are completely public nor if Pym particles are public knowledge.
Changing the World for a Better Future ( We all deserve a future )
I think that the Stark branding is pretty well known and idk how copyright would work, but I like the Stark Industries slogan. This would be him solving the problem and them bringing everyone back. Could also be titled “Billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist” or “A Modern Marvel” which is a reference to his dad’s Expo in TFA.
No choice at all (It’s your choice )
This would be the final battle, asking to respect the wishes of the dead by calling back Peggy and Steve’s conversation. It is also a call to action for the audience as to whether they will be good people. Also, Steve Rogers was probably said to have died in the battle bc like who’s gonna tell the public they can just jump back in time and live life, so most likely with the mantel of Captain America is being passed on it’s also the dead avengers speaking to those left.
Yep. Hopefully my brain will allow me to rest now that this is all out. Please someone talk to me about this I fucking love musicals.

Verses: Cheat Sheet
Updated: 5 May 2022
Forget everything you think you know | Wildcard
        - like it says on the tin, this is typically the ‘I’ll go where ya’ll take me’ universe. A largely blank slate where muses meet in the middle and paint in the world state.
Nothing makes sense? Everything seems dire? sounds like Tuesday | base m!mcu verse
      - Modified Cinematic universe, the timeline has elements of the comics, fox!x-men, and just little tweaks in it that make it make sense. Some events happen earlier, some don’t some last properly realistic spans of time.
Keeping up with the Wilsons/That’s Mrs. Wilson to you/Bullets && Babies -
       - largely/entirely closed verses that encompass the entirety of Sorcha’s life and marriage to Wade Wilson, Steve, her twin, is married to Sharon Carter. The Rogers are legion, and quite capable/well adjusted, considering how the world works. (Typically if Sorcha mentions children or a husband, Kuwtw/tmw2u is the verse being used/referenced.)
Earth 5 - Home of the Rogers Triplets
           - you read that right, Sorcha, Steve, and Masha (Saoirse), are all alive in the same universe. Saoirse is lost with Bucky Barnes on the train in the Alps, Sorcha beats out Steve getting onto the Valkyrie and is presumed dead. Steve returns home from war, and has to find his footing, eventually helping Peggy Carter and Howard Stark found SHIELD while maintaining his commission as the official liaison between the agency and dod.  He officially retires from the Army when the Vietnam war looms, unable to compromise his morals to fight a war they have no business being a part of. Sorcha resurfaces in 2012, a mind-wiped “Masha” aka Red Widow surfaces in 2016.
Time lost but it gave me you
            - the family epic following Sorcha & Tony Stark, Kara Stark & Bucky Barnes, Becca Barnes & Steve Rogers as they navigate finding balance between life as heroes, life as people, while somehow finding time to fall in love.
I can see the skies are Gold
          - closed universe revolving around the crock-pot friends-to-friends-who-hold-hands-and-maybe-kiss story of Sorcha and Loki Friggason. 2012 nothing bad has befallen our beloved baby heroes and Loki gets to Loki healthily vibes on lock.
Wonder Twins
          - Steve’s home base. Sorcha is his ‘baby’ sister. This is heavy on the propaganda that was lobbied with the Rogers from birthdate switches ( from 31 Dec and 1 Jan respectively to 4 July) to middle name changes ( Aibhilin-Victoria to Evelyn, Cian to Grant ) to make them into the perfect brother-sister war machine. Sorcha is Lady Liberty, she can punch out axis soldiers and be home in time for dinner! Steve is the good old, All-American man, leading the fight to keep democracy safe and put down the fascist regimes. Bucky still falls from the train, Sorcha is engaged to Howard Stark but ends up on the Valkyrie. Fast forward 70 years and Captain Rogers is found, with Captain America having moved out of the limelight some thirty years prior to live a life.
Infinite Earths Collide | DCCU + MCU wildcard
           - in which New York City, Gotham, Chicago, Metropolis et all exist at the same time, next to one another for a wild ride.
The Witches who Won to live their lives for themselves
         - Hermione and Hadriana leave Britain behind once they’ve taken their NEWTS, officially immigrating to the US. Hermione pursues her potions mastery, while also going to law school, Hadriana pursues medimagic mastery and becomes a nurse practitioner. They heal from the traumas of the war, and blend magic with mundane in a world full of oddities where they hide in plain sight.
Living Soulstone
           - Sorcha (and Steve if you’re feeling frisky enough to deal with two of them) are the living embodiment of the Soulstone.
Hero is a subjective world
           - obligatory villain origin verse based on Sorcha’s timeline, in which she manipulates everyone around her to dance to the tune she composes. Can be applied to legit any other muse because I happily tie all of them together.
I don’t give a fuck about price I’ve paid it in blood
             - the Venom Symbiote (affectionately called Vee/V by Petra) finds Spidey after May’s death (just six months after the loss of Gwen). Her grief, need for support, and desperation for family ties makes the perfect storm for V and Petra to forge a strong, as permanent as it can be, bond.
Muse base timelines
        - these follow the muses biographies with wiggle room for various events to change/occur, often used in conjunction with the Wildcard verse.
Dragon Age Choices (these are just the defaults until/unless plotted):
Elissa Cousland becomes Queen with Alistair (Depending on verse, her twin will have completed the ritual with Morrigan, making Kieran either her nephew or ‘step-son’. ). Capitan Carter Ficlet
Title:  If Then
Summary:  Peggy Carter is trying to adapt to her new circumstances after re-appearing after seventy years.  When Hawkeye mentions that there was a movie about her life, she has to see it.  Unfortunately, the movie took some very creative liberties, but the experience may not be a total loss.
Notes:  Not very edited because I am lazy.
Peggy Carter sat still in the slightly too narrow, too firm and too sticky seat.  The house lights were on and the film was over.  Names scrolled down the screen.  She pulled a small notebook and pen from her purse.  She flicked through the pages and drew a line through the word “Film?”.
Of everything she’d seen and learned, this so-called film made her the angriest.  “Crikey O’Riley.”  Peggy muttered under her breath.  She gathered her empty popcorn bag and paper soda cup and went to the exit.
Mr. Barton had advised her that the film had “gotten a few things wrong”.
A few things?  She would laugh if she didn’t think it would trigger a crying jag.  These filmmakers had warped the story of their lives into something almost unrecognizable.  It had, according to the poster at the front of the cinema, won eleven Academy awards.  She would like to meet with the film studio and tell them exactly where they could put those shiny statues.
She clenched her hands into fist and headed to the ladie’s room.  She needed a moment to calm down before she did something she’d regret, like punch a hole in the wall or rip a door off it’s hinges.
She flicked the cold tap on and let it run over her wrists.  She caught her reflection in the mirror.  She hadn’t quite caught up with current fashion.  SHIELD, or more specifically Maria Hill, had provided her with clothes.  She was thankful that the serviceable trousers, shirt and jacket lacked the logo that most of the agents wore on their uniforms.
She looked nothing like the woman from the movie.  Even before her transformation, Peggy had never been a petite waif with big green eyes and waif-like proportions.
Steve had never been a lantern-jawed and muscle-bound playboy.
Bucky hadn’t been a hardened killer who had betrayed anyone.
Howard had not flirted with her every time they’d spoken.  She’d cured him of that habit with one hard elbow to the ribs the second time they’d met.
It was all wrong.  Everything was wrong.  She glared at her own reflection and then lashed out.  She punched the mirror and it shattered instantly.  The shards of mirror didn’t even scratch her knuckles.  There was no pain, just guilt, shame, and the ache of seventy years between her and her loved ones.
“Wow.”  A voice sounded from the door.  “I haven’t seen anyone that mad about the Carter movie since the premiere when Howard Stark punched out the director.”
Peggy twisted around.  A woman in the theatre’s uniform smiled at her. She was beautiful, like the movie star from the movie.   “Your hand okay?”
Peggy blushed.  “I am terribly sorry.  I can pay to replace the mirror.”
Well, she could ask SHIELD for a small loan to do so.
“Eh, don’t worry about it, English.  The owner doesn’t like the movie much either.”
Peggy blinked, thrown off by the remark.  “Oh?  Then why show it?”
The woman (an usher of some sort?) hopped up onto th counter beside the sink.  “Contracts.  See the director wanted the movie to premiere in Brooklyn since the real Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes were from the neighborhood.  To be that theatre they had to agree to show the film every year.  After he saw it, the Old Man about popped his pacemaker.  He knew ‘em, English.  Said he was glad they both passed before they made it.”
It was surreal.  To hear someone else talk about Steve and Bucky like this.  To her they were still twenty-somethings fighting a war.  To this-
“I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name.”
The woman grinned and buffed her nails over the small name plate on her vet.  “Angela Martinelli, but you can call me Agnie, all my friends do.”
Martinelli, as in the Martinelli Theatre?
Peggy felt another flush coming on.  This girl was related to the owner.
“And your name, or should I just keep calling you English?”
Her smile was infectious, and for the first time since she’d arrived, Peggy felt normal.
“Margaret, but you can call me Peggy.  All my friends do.”  Well, they had.
“Oh, like Capitan Carter?  You named after her or something?”
Or something.
“Hell, with a punch like that you could be her.”
Peggy smiled, she couldn’t help it.  “I really do apologize about that.”
Angie shrugged.  “I’ll get one of my knuckle-dragging brothers to fix it.  That’s all they’re good for anyway.  My shift is almost over.  I know this really great diner where we could get a bite to eat and talk?”
She should get back to SHIELD.  She should figure out how to use the pocket-phone she’d been given.  She should read about the seventy years worth of events she’d missed.  She should visit Steve and Bucky’s graves.
“I would be delighted.”

Ævi - Frontlines
Hey again! This will be a continued series. The first Ævi series is in my masterlist and is only four parts. This is going to be a ongoing series, so there is going to be a lot more of Ævi to come. :)
Summary: Y/n or also known as Ævi has lived through varies of world events. Now it is 1941, she has excepted that some things cannot be changed so Loki has convinced Y/n to go to New York and live a normal life, a life Y/n always wanted. Or as normal it can be, because new introductions lead to events that didn’t go down in the history books.
Characters: Bucky Barnes x reader, Steve Rogers, Peggy, Loki, OC Vera
Warnings: Fluff, Violence, we’re officially in Captain America the First Avenger now... So I guess spoilers?
Note: When I am writing and particularly writing about Bucky and y/n meeting again or them just being in love I always listen to Pirates of the Caribbean to the theme or Will and Elizabeth and I thought it would be good to share that with you guys. To get in the feels. Right now it jumps from POTC One day and the last minute or so from Drink up me hearties yo ho. I know it is so random, but I cannot get it out of my head.
Part 10
Tumblr media
I woke up next to Bucky the next day with the blankets sprawled all over me and Bucky laying his arm lazily over me, still asleep. I looked at the dog tags that I was wearing. It felt nice having something with Bucky's name on it, to have something of his with me. I carefully turned around towards Bucky. He looked so peaceful in his sleep. Even in his sleep he had his well known smirk plastered on his face, probably dreaming about some good things. I reached with my hand towards his face. Slightly tracing his lips with my fingers and then up to his cheek. I was rubbing slow circles on his cheek with thumb.
"Good morning." He said quietly, his smirk becoming bigger. "Sorry for waking you up." I told him apologetic sliding my hand back to my place, but he quickly grabbed it. "Waking up next to you is the best thing, so never apologize for that doll." He told me as he guided my hand back to his cheek and he opened his eyes to look at me.
"What are you up to today?" I asked starting to rub circles on his cheek again. "If it were up to me.. I'd stay here the whole day." Bucky moved closer, our heads touching. My hand slid down to his neck. "But sadly it is not up to you. So what are you gonna do?" I said smiling. "Training. I wanted to ask.. Do you want to train with us or did they teach you enough in Sweden and Norway? You still got me curious about that, doll, but if you don't want to tell me I'll respect that." He continued on. I understood the curiosity and I wanted to tell him, but I didn't know what his reaction would be. "I have learned a lot from Sweden and Norway. And I will tell you everything you want to know, but I need time to find the right words.. And I want the world not to be going to shit." I slightly laughed. There was so much going on.. And how do you even tell a person that I am from the future, but have lived so far in the past as well. I honestly never told anyone before, besides Bjorn and his family, but they were there when I was figuring out what was happening to me. And then Loki, Thor, Odin, Heimdall and Frigga know, more like everyone in Asgard knew, but those five actually know the whole story. But besides that I never even tried to tell someone. And this time I really wanted to tell Bucky, but I have no clue how.
"I understand. Don't worry." He smiled then sighed. "I need to get ready." He turned over on his back. "At least we work at the same place." And he gave me a kiss on my mouth. But as soon as it started, it was over. "Lets get ready for work." I told him as I started to get up. "But lets end our day like this." He pulled my arm, making me fall on him. He kissed me again, this time it was deeper. He flipped us over, so now he was hovering over me. "I need to get these replaced." He said as he held his dog tags in his hand. He gave me a smirk. "They do look a lot better on you." He leaned in again for another kiss. "Bucky.. We.. Need.. To.. Get.. To.. Work.." After every word I got another kiss. I couldn't stop giggling between the kisses. "Bucky." I tried, but not really trying to stop him. "Alright. Lets get to work." And he stood up. As he started to walk away he turned around quickly once more and gave me another kiss. "Last one." He said as he almost skipped to the bathroom. All I could do was laugh.
-I walked in the facility to meet up with someone named Howard. Before I greeted everyone I decided to put the dog tags under my shirt. "Ah! You must be Y/n Ironside!" A man called and kind of startled me. "Yes I am." I said with big eyes turning around to see where the voice was coming from. It was a man with dark hair and a mustache. He walked up to me and put out his hand. "Nobody told me how beautiful you are. I am Howard Stark." He happily said as he was shaking my hand. "Howard Stark, I swear I have heard that name before. What's your full name?" He smirked. "Howard Anthony Walter Stark. You may have heard of me through my inventions. I have been trying to make cars fly and I see it happening in the near future." The last part I barely heard what he said. I could only think of the name Anthony. Anthony Stark. Tony Stark. Right before I got zapped away to the past he told everyone he is Iron Man. Is Howard or I Howard going to be his father, I mean they are on the same path of inventing things.
"I think I have heard Bucky mention your name before." I responded. "Bucky? Your husband?" He asked, trying to figure out whatever he was trying to figure out. "No.. But I am taken, if that's what you're getting at.." I said as I narrowed my eyes at him. He put his hands up. "Just curious. Anyway, I'll give you the tour of what we got." He said as he started walking, indicating I needed to follow. "So we have been dismantling the guns you had found in Switzerland. And there are some really interesting parts." He walked towards a machine that was holding up something that was shining blue. "This was something that was found in the guns." He explained. I stepped closer. There was no way. It looked like it was part of the Tesserect. That's how they made the guns. With the machine he was holding up the little piece, carefully. "Seems harmless enough." Howard stated. "Hard to see what all the fuss is about." He moved another machine arm closer, this one had a sort of laser. "NO!" I yelled as we got hit back by the blast of the little stone. "Write that down." Howard said. "Are you ok?" I asked as I came over to help him up. "I'm fine darling." He said as I helped him up. "Whatever that small thing is.. it is powerful." He stated.
This was actually good to know. To have the power of the stone, you don't need the whole stone. Even small bits and pieces could be powerful enough if you used it. I know the power I have is strong, but having the spell on me that Frigga helped me with so the stone can not be traced was not letting my powers come out to my full extend. I also have never really been able to use my full powers, for my own protection and others. Sometimes I do wonder what my limit is, but what if it is too much? What if I hurt people that I swore to protect? What if I cant control it? These are questions I don't want answers to right now or maybe ever.
As I turned around I saw Steve walking up. "Hi Steve." I said happy to see him and giving him a quick hug. "I have a question. What does fondueing mean?" He asked quietly. I snorted. "What? Fondue is just cheese and bread, dork." He narrowed his eyes seeing if I was joking. "Really?" He asked. "Really." I laughed.
"Alright ladies come on." Howard said ready to get back to work. "Right now we're working on everything to make sure you and your men, and woman, do not get killed." He told us showing Steve around the lab. I had no idea what they were making. "Carbon polymer. Should withstand your average German bayonet. Although Hydra's not going to attack you with a pocket knife." Howard told us as he showed us some material. It was most likely for his suit. "I hear you're kind of attached." Howard said as he patted the shield Steve had with him at the Hydra facility. It had a few bullet holes in them. Would be useless now. "It's handier than you might think." He told him. "You know you should think about a weapon or something to protect yourself with as well. Not just a shield." I told Steve. "I don't know. I don't think I want a offensive weapon. I want to protect people and defend them. How am I supposed to do the with a weapon." The last part wasn't a question. And he was right. To have a sort of shield as a symbol for protection would be such a good message. Steve has always been such a good man, fighting for what is right. I almost feel like a proud mother. "You're right. I completely agree with you." I told him. But what does that say about me? I swore to protect Life. And always when I fight I have my sword with me or knifes. Was I wrong for doing that?
"I took the liberty of coming up with some new options for your shield." Howard broke my train of thought. On the table there were many other shields. And they were the complete opposite of what Steve wanted. Howard was explaining somethings about the shields as I saw out of the corner of my eye another shield. Much smaller than the ones on the table. "What about this one?" I asked as I took the shield from next to the table and handed it over to Steve. It was very light. "No, no, that's just a proto type." Howard said dismissively. "What's it made of?" Steve asked him. "Vibranium. It's stronger than steel and a third the weight. It's completely vibration absorbent." Steve was spinning the shield around in his hands checking it out. He put the shield on his arm and gave it another look. "It looks good, Steve." He smiled and nodded at me. He also seemed to like it a lot too. "That is the rarest metal on Earth." Howard told him.
"You quite finished Mr. Stark?" Peggy asked as she came walking in the lad. "What do you think?" Steve asked Peggy. I could see in his eyes that he really like her. Slightly trying to show off his stance with the shield. In a quick motion Peggy grabbed a gun and fired at Steve. I quickly stepped away looking on in shock. Four shots and not even a dent in the shield. Howard's mouth was gaping open from shock. "Yes I think it works." Peggy said as she brushed by Steve. When Peggy was out of sight I spoke up. "What the hell did you do?!" I yelled at him punching him in the shoulder. "I-.. I don't know.." Steve said stammering. I narrowed my eyes at him. "Steve?" I said in a warning tone. "She might have seen me kiss another dame." That deserved another punch to his shoulder. "You what?! I thought you like Peggy? What are you doing kissing other girls for?" He shook his head. "I don't know. I didn't mean to." I pushed him. "Well you better get your priorities straight, cause we are leaving soon." I said as I walked away from him.
-
We had done a few missions already. It felt strange working with multiple people at once. I was so used to working alone. But there was still no luck on the Tesserect. There were many people with the same guns we had found earlier, but that was it. It was becoming so frustrating to still not be able to find anything. Even more so when people around me were getting hurt.
"Alright, here is the plan. Sergeant Barnes, you are gonna go up on the hills and you will be the look out for us. I will go down first to the facility and take out any threats that are outside. Dugan, Morita, Falsworth you take the Eastside. Jones and Dernier take West. Sawyer, Pinkerton and Juniper take North. Y/n, you stay close to me." Everybody nodded in agreement. We all got ready and checked our things. I put my knifes behind my back and Bucky had added a hand gun to my belt as well. He had told me it would make him feel less worried if I didn't just have knifes with me.
"You got everything?" Bucky asked coming closer and strapping his riffle to his back. "I do." I told him showing off the gun he gave me. "You have enough bullets?" I smiled. "I do. Don't worry. I am probably not even gonna use the gun anyway. So don't worry." I said smiling coming closer. "Besides.. I have this to protect me." I showed him the dog tags that were hidden under my shirt. "I would feel better if I was actually with you." He told me as he took the dog tags in his hand and gave them another look. "You know I need to check the facility. Who else is gonna make sure it is safe from a distance?" I told him smiling. "You really need to teach me how to fight with knifes." He told me as he pulled me closer to his chest.
It was always scary separating like this. Bucky was always somewhere behind up in the hills or between the trees. When I was somewhere at the front with Steve or Gabe Jones. I knew Bucky could defend himself, but I never have really seen him fight hand to hand.
"Alright. After this mission I will teach you a few things with me knife. Just don't do anything stupid." He laughed and nodded and hugged me a little tighter. I put my head down on his chest. Hearing his heart steadily pump. His warm embrace always calmed me down or just made me feel at peace. I breathed in his scent, he smelled like gunpowder and warm wood. "Be safe out there." I told him quietly. He put his hand up to my hair and started rubbing circles. "I will."
-
The mission had gone fairly well. We took out every Hydra member at this facility. But still no Tesserect. I mean how many hiding places do they even have? I feel like I have looked everywhere, but every single time there was nothing.
"Did you find what you where looking for?" Steve asked coming up behind me. "No, still nothing." I shook my head. It was getting so frustrating leaving empty handed every single time. "Did anybody know about what you were looking for?" Steve continued on. I wish someone did know as to where to find the Tesserect. "No, I need to find someone who is in some of the higher ranks they-.. Ahh!" My leg felt hot. I looked down and there was blood gushing out of my upper leg. I fell to the ground from the pain. In just a moment it would be gone, so I couldn't make a tooo big of a scene about it, but right now it hurt a lot and it was hard not to scream. Steve quickly jumped in action to the offender. He threw his shield towards the Hydra agent and he fell down.
"Y/n!" I heard coming from my right. Bucky was running down a hill towards me. "No! Stop!" I yelled. He didn't look if it was clear. Because behind the tree I saw another agent come out from hiding pointing his gun to Bucky's back. I quickly grabbed my knife I had behind my back and threw it at the Hydra agent. Bucky was trying to turn around and put his gun up at him at the same time, but the knife already hit the Hydra agent in his chest. In that moment the Hydra agent had pulled the trigger and hit Bucky in his right shoulder. "Bucky!"
My leg was not fully healed yet, but I bit down the pain and ran towards Bucky as fast as my legs could take me. Everything seemed to go in slow-motion from that moment on. I slowly saw Bucky fall to the ground and I felt like I couldn't breathe anymore. Every step I took made my heart beat faster for the worry I had for Bucky. As I came close to him I dropped to my knees.
"Bucky keep your eyes open!" I said. I checked his shoulder and saw all the blood gushing out. "Are you ok?" Bucky asked me out of breath. "Worry about yourself, Buck. You need to stay awake." I had to heal him even though there were people around me. I looked at Bucky's face and saw it drain of color. His eyes were slowly dropping. "Stay with me." I told him as I put my hand on his bullet wound. I quickly looked around and saw that Steve was already running towards us. It was now or never I thought. I put all my energy I had towards my hand and it started to light up. White and gold swirling around my hand and going through Bucky's skin. I looked at Bucky's face again and saw his eyes snap open. It worked. I slowly lifted my hand up and saw that the wound was already as good as healed. There was still a cut left, but it was nowhere near as bad as it was before. This would be naturally healed in a little more than a week. My hand had stopped glowing.
"Are you ok?" I asked Bucky with hopeful eyes. "I-... I uh.. I'm ok. What happened?" He asked me as he sat up. Steve had caught up and dropped down next to us. "Are you ok! I saw you get shot!" Steve said. Bucky looked down at his shoulder. It was still covered in blood, but he could definitely tell something was off. He saw the wound, but it was small, but there was a lot of blood. He pulled down his shirt from his shoulder trying to see if there were more wounds, but that was it. He looked really confused. He slowly looked up at me. He tried to search my eyes for an answer. "I thought I got shot too."

One for the Books ~ CEO!Bucky x Reader Oneshot
A/N: Hello my lovelies! So this is the CEO!Bucky story I teased a few weeks ago. This is my second entry for this prompt for @captainscanadian CBC 1k Challenge. Go check out AJ because she’s awesome and congratulations on your milestone love! I love you!
Summary: You’ve worked for Bucky for ten years, when the anniversary rolls around you’re in for a surprise
Characters/Pairings: Bucky x Reader, Steve x Peggy
Rating: K+
Warnings: Nothing?
Word count:  2833
Tumblr media
The rumor mill in high school could only be rivaled by the corporate one.
“Hey, boss lady, you heard the latest?” Shuri asked as she settled into the seat across from you.
“About what?”
“That Tony Stark is interested in absorbing the company?”
You chuckled and returned to the author report you’d been reviewing.
“That’s old news, Shuri. Tony Stark has made many offers over our ten year run.”
“Yeah, but none of his offers have gotten him in the door,” she hinted.
That got your attention and you looked up at her in surprise.
“Are you telling me Tony Stark is here?”
“Meeting with Barnes and Rogers as we speak.”
“How do you know that?”
“It’s the talk of the office of course. Plus MJ confirmed it.”
“Well I’m sure it’s nothing to get worked up about,” you replied calmly. Though internally you were compiling a long list of questions for the publishing house CEO.
“I know,” she scoffed. “It’s just funny to listen to everyone speculate.”
“Did Peter say anything to MJ?”
“I’ll interrogate her over lunch. While you interrogate Mr. Barnes.”
“Agreed,” you chuckled. “What’s on the schedule for today?”
“You have lunch with our in house attorney, and a meeting with the editing team. And then you’re free for the rest of the day.”
“Excellent, please keep it that way.”
“You’ve got it.”
Tumblr media
You couldn’t help but take a moment to admire your boss, his blue suit jacket was hanging over the back of his chair, but he still had his wide striped tie in place and his sleeves rolled up. He looked sharp and hard working. Like always.
“Enjoying the view?” he asked without looking up and you jolted.
“So sorry, Mr. Barnes. You’re just so handsome,” you let out a long sigh which was only slightly exaggerated.
He rolled his eyes, but a smile tugged at his lips.
“In that case. Please come in. Take a closer look.”
“Don’t mind if I do.”
Pushing off the doorjamb, you closed the door and took the seat opposite him. After carefully marking his place in the manuscript he’d been reviewing, he folded his hands underneath his chin, giving you his full attention.
“So, to what do I owe this unexpected pleasure?”
“I can’t just pop in and say hi to my favorite boss?” You asked innocently.
“You could, but his office is next door. So what’s on your mind?”
“I ran into Tony on my way to lunch with Peggy,” you explained.
He ahhed and crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back in his chair.
“So that’s what this is about.”
You shrugged.
“Can’t help my curiosity.”
“I wouldn’t expect you too. I assume the office gossip is that I’m selling.”
“Yes. I’m just trying to decide if I want to jump ship before or after the sale.”
“No such luck. Tony came by to thank me.”
“Thank you for what?”
In lieu of answering, he simply pushed the manuscript across to you. It only took a few pages for you to recognize the piece.
“What does this have to do with Tony Stark? Does he think we poached one of his writers?”
“After your glowing review of the work and my own positive notes, Steve and I met with the author the other day, in private.”
You squinted at him, knowing he was dragging out a big reveal.
“And who is it that we’re taking on?”
“One Morgan Stark.”
“Little Morgan wrote this? She’s terribly talented.”
“I agree. She wanted some feedback so she gave it to Steve.”
“Figured he’d be more objective than daddy dearest?”
“Something like that. Steve loved it, but wasn’t sure he was objective so much he sent it over to me and you know the rest.”
“So we’re signing her?”
He grinned and nodded.
“What did Tony have to say about that?” You asked, flipping through the pages once more.
“Like I said he wanted to thank me for signing Morgan. He agreed it was for the best that she be represented by someone else.”
“Less risk of her getting dinged by reviewers for being published by her dad.”
“Exactly. And he knows that we’ll be good to her. He respects that. So he wanted to come by and say so in person. Morgan has apparently been beaming since we sent her the offer.”
“That’s so sweet. I’d like to work with her personally if you don’t mind.”
“Of course. I’m sure she’d like that. And you’re the best we have.”
“Flattery will get you nowhere, Barnes.”
“It’s not flattery if it’s true.”
He offered you his most charming smile, and you tried to ignore the butterflies in your stomach.
“Are you looking forward to the party tonight?”
“I am. I was thinking I’d have other plans, but they never came together.”
“Our gain.”
“Well, I’m sure you’re busy. I’d best leave you to it.”
“Before you go, I have a request.”
“What can I do for you, Mr. Barnes?”
“There’s a board meeting today at four. I’d like you to attend.”
You raised an eyebrow.
“Any particular reason?”
His smile turned mischievous.
“I’m not at liberty to say just yet. You’ll see at the meeting.”
“Keep your secrets then. I will see you at four.”
“Looking forward to it.”
You glared lightly at his obvious delight, before shaking your head and leaving his office.

Stepping out of the town car that night, you smiled at the sight of the familiar restaurant. You knew the owners quite well, having worked there through college and frequenting it for many years afterward. You’d been thrilled when it was announced as the location for the company’s tenth anniversary party.
A low whistle caught your attention and you turned to see none other than James Barnes grinning at you wolfishly.
Repressing the urge to roll your eyes, you looked back to the entrance of the restaurant.
“Good evening, Mr. Barnes.”
He chuckled and slid his hands into his pockets.
“Good evening, y/n. If I may say so, that is a knockout dress. I’ve always liked that color on you.”
“Thank you,” you glanced down, momentarily admiring the smooth cobalt satin of your dress, while hiding your clear reaction to his words. Whenever he paid you a compliment you couldn’t help the flutter in your stomach. “You look very handsome,” you finally permitted yourself to take a good look at him. “But your tie is crooked.”
You reached over and straightened his tie which by chance matched your dress.
“There. Now you’re presentable.”
He grinned down at you, as your hands rested on his chest.
“What would I do without you?”
“Crash and burn.”
“You’re probably right. Now, may I escort you inside?”
“You may.”
He tucked your arm into the crook of his elbow and started up the stairs.
There was a soft buzz in the event room, the employees you’d grown to consider family were milling about with their families, chatting. You smiled at MJ and her boyfriend Peter chatting with Shuri and her older brother, T’Challa.
“Bucky, Y/n, over here,” Steve called, waving you over to his table where he was sitting with Peggy.
“Hi, Stevie,” you greeted him with a hug and kiss on the cheek.
“Hello, darling,” Peggy smiled as squeezed your hand and pulled you into the seat next to her. “James.”
“Peggy, you look beautiful.”
“Thank you.”
“Wine, Y/n?” James offered.
“Please,” you nodded.
“So how are you feeling after the meeting?” Steve asked as he rested his arm along the back of Peggy’s chair.
“I’m thrilled. I can’t wait to get started on the project. Thank you for supporting it.”
“My pleasure. We’ve wanted to do it for so long. I’m just glad we’re big enough to do it now.”
“For you,” James smiled as he placed the wine in front of you. “And there’s some people who wanted to speak with you.”
George and Winifred Barnes were standing a few feet behind James.
“Hello, darling.”
“George, Winnie, it’s so good to see you,” you hugged them tightly. “I’m so glad you could be here to celebrate the company with us.”
“We wouldn’t miss it. We’re so proud of what you’ve all built.”
“James and Steve are really the brains behind the operation.”
“Yes, but you’re the heart,” Winnie insisted as she held onto your hands. “James is lucky to have you.”
You glanced over at him, he was watching you with a warm smile.
“I’m lucky to have him too. I’m so glad you’re here,” you exclaimed hugging her tightly once more.
Winifred had been a second mother to you since you met James in college. You absolutely adored her, and she adored you. But seeing her and George here to celebrate James’ accomplishments made you miss your own parents.
“Do we get such a warm welcome?”
You turned to see your parents.
“Mom, Dad, what are you doing here?” You asked as you launched yourself at them, hugging them tightly, holding back tears.
“James flew us for the anniversary. He wanted to surprise you.”
“They should be here to celebrate with us,” James insisted when you looked at him with wide eyes.
“Thank you, James.”
You kissed him on the cheek after hugging him.
“You’re very welcome, doll. Does this put me in contention for favorite boss?” He wondered.
You regarded him carefully before looking over at Steve who arched an eyebrow at you.
“Nope. Still Steve,” you smirked.
“Damn it,” he grumbled good-naturedly. “I’ll get there someday.”
“I doubt that,” Steve guffawed, earning him a smack from Peggy.
“You keep trying, James.”
You realized then that both sets of parents were watching you closely and you decided to take the attention off of you.
“Well, I do believe dinner will be served soon so we should probably take our seats.”
“Yes. We should,” James agreed, holding out your chair for you, before taking the seat next to you.
Tumblr media
Dinner was absolutely delicious. Of course you were biased considering it was your favorite restaurant. But the company certainly could not be beaten; you were with nearly all of the most important people in your life.
After dessert, your favorite, it was time for speeches. Steve and James prepared to take the stage.
“Do I look okay?” James asked.
You beckoned him down with a finger to straighten his tie once again. He never could manage to keep it straight.
“Now you do.”
“Thanks.”
The pair took the stage to a standing ovation. You couldn’t help but beam. Their employees loved them, and they deserved it.
“Thank you, thank you,” Steve announced, his voice carrying his easily through the room. “Please sit. Fifteen years ago, Bucky and I dreamed of opening our own publishing company to help give the wonderful young writers in this country a chance at getting their stories heard. And ten years ago we were able to make that happen.”
“In the decade since,” Bucky continued smoothly continuing the speech. Their synchronicity was something you’d always admired about them. “With offices and authors all over the world we have achieved more than anything we could have dreamed of. And that is due entirely to all of you, our employees and their families who have supported us over the past decade. So thank you. Barnes and Rogers publishing would not exist without you. Please give yourselves a round of applause.”
They both clapped, thanking the room of people. When it naturally died down, Steve stepped forward once again to speak.
“Of course we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge the amazing people who have been here since the beginning and to let you know a little about some exciting future projects. So I personally would like to thank my beautiful wife Peggy. You know her as our in house attorney, but she has been the driving force in my life since I met her. Not only does she make sure we don’t get ourselves into too much trouble,” he winked, making Peggy roll her eyes. You squeezed her hand knowingly. “She makes sure that our authors are completely protected. We would not be comfortable doing this without you and I would not be brave enough to do this without you. I love you.”
“I love you too,” she mouthed back.
“Now, looking to our future, we are proud to announce that in our goal to help young writers. We will be starting a mentorship program for aspiring writers of any age. The aim of the project is to help hone their craft and to give them the resources to approach publishers and match them with the right publishing house.” There were murmurs of approval over the plan throughout the room. “Our goal is to remove one of the most daunting parts of the publishing process, after actually writing the darn book,” he joked earning a chuckle from the crowd.
Someone cheered and soon applause broke out again.
“We are so glad that you are all so excited about this project,” Bucky spoke when it calmed. “And as much as Steve and I wish we could take credit for the idea, but this dream belongs to someone else in this room, our chief editor, Y/n. Can you please come up here?”
When you didn’t immediately move, Peggy prodded you.
“Go.”
Shaking away your confusion, you stood and approached the stage. James held out his hand to escort you up the few steps.
“What many of you, I think all of you know, is that Y/n has been with this company since day one. Actually since before day one. Her dream has always been to help anyone who wanted to write be able to use their voice. After five years working for another major publishing house, she chose to help Steve and I open this company and has since worked personally with every author we have published. She will be stepping down as chief editor to head up our new program and I could not be more proud or more grateful. Please give her a round of applause.”
Everyone clapped. Shuri, MJ, and Peter cheered loudly and you giggled at them.
“On a personal note, I owe Y/n my thanks. For everything she has done for me since the day that I met her. I would not be the man I am today without her. I also owe her an apology for fooling her into thinking that I for one moment forgot that ten years ago today, she made me the happiest man in the entire world by marrying me.” Tears were rolling down your cheeks as you shook your head at your husband. “I wanted to surprise you with this party tonight, because I wanted all of the people you loved to be in the room to celebrate the past ten years of our marriage and the rest of our lives that are stretching out ahead of us. Of course I think there are two people who are missing. So let’s remedy that.”
“Mama!”
You turned as Natasha, your best friend, stepped into sight carrying your two year old son and holding your five year old daughter’s hand.
Gracie ran to you as soon as she saw you hugging you before scrambling over to her father who settled her on his hip. Natasha followed and handed you Jamie who you immediately cooed at. His bright blue eyes stared back at you as he giggled.
“There we are,” James announced. “Now, Gracie, are you going to help me ask your mama a question?”
“Yeah!”
The room chuckled.
“And what is that question?” you asked, crying.
“Mama.”
“Yes, baby.”
“Will you marry daddy again?”
“Yes, of course.”
He leaned forward and kissed you passionately.
“I love you so much, y/n.”
“I love you more, James.”
Tumblr media
“You are one sneaky bastard, James Barnes,” you accused as you danced after renewing your vows in front of all of your family and friends. “I can’t believe you did all this.”
“You deserve the world, Y/n. When we got married, all I could give you was a courthouse wedding. But now I can give you what you deserve.”
“You’re all I’ve ever needed, James.”
“And you’re all I ever wanted. Thank you for marrying me, y/n.”
“Twice.”
“Twice,” he chuckled leaning down to kiss you. “Now, how do you feel about a first honeymoon?”
“I think I could be persuaded.”
“We leave tomorrow. Two weeks in Hawaii. Just the two of us.”
“What about the kids?” you asked.
He pulled you close so he could whisper in your ear.
“Why do you think I invited the grandparents?”
Giggling you shook your head and kissed him for the millionth time.
“You know, you’re still not my favorite boss,” you told him with a serious look.
He rolled his eyes and twirled you away and back in, before dipping you.
“As long as I’m your favorite husband,” he informed you, kissing your forehead and pulling you back into his arms.
“Always,” you agreed.

Film: ‘Apple of Discord’, Lola Swanson’s Dazzling Debut!
By NICHOLAS WATTS                                                                                                                      September 1, 1943
----------
The film drama from the original screenplay written and directed by Andrew Campbell opened to a roar of applause and acclaim at the Radio City Music Hall yesterday evening. Apple of Discord is a reimagining of the myth and Plato’s allegory, focusing on the tumultuous, profoundly elegant life of a young noblewoman during the Trojan wars.
The film’s frontrunner and leading lady is Hollywood newcomer, young and fresh-faced Lola Swanson. Swanson’s performance is so thoughtful, so unfaltering, so intelligent and controlled that it is hard to believe this is little Lola’s long awaited motion picture debut. And what a debut this is!
Starring opposite Hollywood veterans Sean Schultz, Kash Dennis, and Gracie Smith, this star-studded cast packs punches and sizzling chemistry and yet, Swanson does not fizzle out but confidently holds her own, demanding your attention in every scene, and rightfully so. Watching Swanson in this picture is watching a major actress in the making.
Born and raised in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen before moving to Brooklyn to pursue acting, some may recognize Lola from her daytime television roles in Insanity and Passion, It’s a Date! and as Jessica in Jessica Davis Returns.
Now we know these roles were preparing Swanson for the debut of the decade.
“APPLE OF DISCORD” is now showing at the Radio City Music Hall and Cinema 2. Tickets at 25 cents. Running time: 139 minutes.

APPLE OF DISCORD, written and directed by Andrew Campbell; director of photography, Laszlo Kovacs; edited by John Wright; music by John Barry; released by Universal Pictures.
----------
The newspaper trembles hard between your fingers, threatening to tear its edges. Pulse pounding, ears ringing. You can’t stop smiling. You feel like crying.
You reread the words again and again, the words written by legendary film critic Nicholas Watts, the man you’ve only dreamed of making an impression on, that he’d someday see you in a picture. And here he’s written a glowing review of your major motion picture debut.
You erupt in a fit of giggles and screams, twirling around the small space of your apartment in a swirl of nightgown, pinned curls. A neighbor, Mr. Krisinski, you think, pounds on your wall to shut you up.
It’s still early morning and you had gone downstairs at first light to buy a paper from a newsboy. Outside your window, the streets of New York already yawn and bustle with morning commute. The movement of people, gleaming automobiles against the red brick buildings and muted gray of Manhattan. Warm sun washes over it all, your heart brimming and full, mirroring the glow of golden dawn.
You feel on top of the world. Maybe you’ll finally make it here.
Your phone rings. You rush over to the mint blue rotary telephone on your bedside table, snatch up the receiver before Mr. Krisinski can break down your door with all the racket you’re making.
“Hello?” You say into the mouthpiece, cradling it between your hands. You feel breathless, high strung and buzzing, like you’d just downed a whole case of Coca-Cola, whirring with the taste of sugar and success, bubbling with starpower. Maybe it’s Kash or Gracie calling to congratulate you. Hell, maybe even President Roosevelt.
“Lola! It’s me. Have you read the paper?” The cool voice of Peggy asks you through the receiver. You quietly laugh at your own fantastical expectations. Of course it’s Peggy. Punctual, collected Peggy.
Peggy Carter is your talent agent and manager at MGM. Peggy had snatched you up while you had been working as a background actress on Michael Curtiz’s Casablanca, so hopeful and beholden just to be in the presence of such respected artists, willing to stay the extra hours even after the other girls had gone home when realizing they wouldn’t be seen in the shot. It hadn’t been your first time on a hot set, you were used to the itchy costumes, long hours of endless waiting, and the empty stomachs, but no way you were going to miss a chance to see Ingrid Bergman and Madeleine LeBeau up close.
Back then, only a few years ago yet a lifetime away it seems, Peggy had been a casting assistant, seeing your dedication and marching right up to you between takes to hand you her card. On the back, written in smooth blue ink, a time the next morning for an audition at MGM Studios in downtown New York. Eight o'clock sharp.
You didn’t sleep at all that night after you wrapped.
She’s worked at getting you into audition rooms and meetings for years, pushing you onto writers, production assistants, riggers, directors. She had secured you an audition with Andrew Campbell after “accidentally” leaving your headshot in his mailroom and later calling his assistant with threats of stolen property. MGM’s new fresh face had been penciled in for a side read the following week.
Fierce, ingenious, and your own bright star, you’ve risen through the ranks and fought your way up with Peggy at your side.
“Yeah, Peg. I have it here in front of me. This is...absolutely nuts.”
“Not really, you were brilliant in the picture, darling. But it’s a comfort to know Watts has finally replaced that cotton in his brain with some sense.”
Another laugh from you, twirling the telephone cord around your finger.
“Let me have this one, Peg.”
“If you insist.”
You hear the rustling of newspaper from the other end. You can practically see Peggy sitting at her desk, perusing the paper over a morning cup of coffee, her hair curled, makeup and nails all scarlet red and perfect. The golden placard glittering on the frosted glass of the door.
Margaret Carter, Casting Director.
“I’m calling to tell you about an offer we received this morning from Paramount. I think you should take it.”
That rush of giddiness burns bright again in your veins, pulse skyrocketing.
“Paramount? Geez, what did they say?”
“They want you for a promotional picture that’s being produced by Senator Brandt. Brandt is hoping to boost the homefront’s war bond sales with a little starpower from you and from Captain America. You’ve seen his posters, haven’t you? That costumed bloke?”
You have. Plastered everywhere and looking like an absolute buffoon. Nice physique, though.
The disappointment that settles in your stomach is ugly and cold, like a fruitless pit, hard, rough, a sour taste in your mouth. It’s stupidly childish, yet your own expectations for your first movie, first box office hit, for that very first taste of the promised fame and fortune of success, begin to blink out. Expectations you’ve held on to since you were a little girl, since you realized this is the type of work you want to do for the rest of your life.
You’ve managed to impress Nicholas Watts, the most cynical film critic in all of Hollywood, and this is your big break? A Paramount picture featuring you and a tights-wearing mascot?
Peggy is practically asking you to star alongside Mickey Mouse.
“Is that all they offered?” You respond. You wince at the demanding, ungrateful tone. Afterall, showbiz has hardened you to go after what you want, to take and take because this lifestyle does not guarantee anything. You’re told no more than you are yes, the constant rejection having molded you into a diamond tough girl, glitzy and solid, unbreakable, beautiful.
But how many girls would kill to be in your place?
“The only sensible deal. They also offered you the role of Violet for It’s a Wonderful Life, and Ruthie in The Grapes of Wrath.”
“What?! Peggy, contract me for those instead!”
“Well, I’m not going to. And you listen well as to why.”
You twist your lips together. Peggy’s voice filters clipped and disapproving through the phone line, the way she always gets before she offers you damned good advice.
“Not just Watts is impressed with your work, Lola. You’re finally turning heads and for all good reasons. Anyone can get in front of a camera if they have the right look. But you’ve shown them that you have the look and the raw talent. Critics are saying you’re rivaling Judy Garland, darling. And you’re telling me you want the part of a lousy love interest? A secondary daughter? All because the pictures have big names behind them and people may go see it?
“No,” you mumble.
“No is right. You know better than anyone that people expect young stars to burn out fast so they can take their place. It’s all business. If I put you in for those roles, we’d be playing right into their hand. We’d use up all your potential in one summer. The public would get sick of seeing your face in every big picture. We have to earn their affection, darling. It’s slow and tame and not always glamorous, but this deal is smart.”
You listen, silently.
“Morale is low. War is when people turn to familiar pastimes and simple pleasures. To treat themselves, to take their minds off all the grizzly headlines. Captain America embodies all of that and more. If we take this, I promise you, Lola, that people will remember you as the girl who got them through the darkest times. This will do wonders for your career years down the line. And then, if you still want to play Violet, I’ll phone Frank Capra myself.”
You close your eyes and draw in a breath, a smile tugging at the corners of your mouth.
“Well, it looks like I don’t have much of a choice, do I?”
“Wonderful. I’ll phone Paramount now. We’ll be in touch.”
--
Growing up with poor Irish immigrants for parents, the rare moments you could afford to splurge on luxuries, you spent them at local cinemas and theaters with your brother. Any day was a good one when you and Samuel bought tickets for a noon screening, the cheapest showing of the day, scraping together pocket change to split a popcorn if you were feeling extra special.
And reclining in a nearly empty theater with refreshments and goodies between the two of you, you’d watch the silver screen with hope in your mouth and stars in your eyes. In here, it no longer mattered how little money you had, or the discrimination your family faced, or the war in Europe, or the meager apartment you’d go home to, lucky if the electricity and heating had been paid for. In here, nothing else mattered but the visual stories.
And you realized that you wanted to help tell them. You wanted to be in front of the cameras, to embody characters and personas and let audiences worldwide empathize and identify with your performances.
You’ve loved playing make-believe since you were a little girl, having never really grown out of it. You could do it, you think. Dangerous dreams, perhaps, but what child doesn’t hold this wish within them? To see their name in lights and to be admired and commended, but most of all, to provide for their family?
 How hard could it be?
**
At sixteen, you land your first speaking role. It’s pathetic. You’re working on set as background, per usual, only this time, the director picks you out from the crowd and gives you the line of, “Good morning, sir.” You’re to look off camera as the actor playing Kent entered the scene and you would then say your line.
You’re stupidly excited. Three simple words. You’ll be uncredited, of course, but your face would finally be seen! With butterflies fluttering in your stomach, the scene resets, Kent takes his mark, the cameras roll, and you deliver.
The scene is cut from the final reel.
**
You pound the pavement. You scour newspapers and flyers for casting calls, you phone agencies and playhouses, you save up to get your picture taken on glossy photo paper. You keep looking. You keep working in background until you can land a steady role.
Then, you finally get one. A miniscule part of a friendly neighborhood girl on a TV drama for CBS. You only have mere minutes of screen time, but the checks that arrive in the mail from Columbia Broadcasting System after your first few episodes air say otherwise.
You open a savings account. You plant your paychecks and watch them grow into a comfortable sum of money. You land another guest starring role for a daytime soap, the secretary of the title character. Combined with your parents’ salaries from your mother’s sewing and your father’s work on the railroads, you become the main breadwinner.
You move your family out of Hell’s Kitchen, out of your cramped, dark apartment. You sign a new lease under your new stage name and move to Brooklyn together.
**
Brooklyn is slightly cleaner, but the familiar hustle and bustle, the noise of shopkeepers and dialects and children and cars is comforting, grounds you in your roots. When your CBS drama wraps months later with your last check in the mail and you’re looking for your next gig, your brother works odd jobs to help shoulder the burden. Brick laying, chimney sweeping, milk and mail delivering, Samuel becomes no stranger to any and all work, so long as it pays. You become a typist on the side as you wait for auditions and callbacks.
Samuel tells you his aspirations to be a poet, a writer. He hasn’t said a word to your parents, but he shows you the small bound notebook he carries with him, leafing through pages of prose and verse. You encourage him to submit his work to newspapers, publishers. He gives you a shy smile, says he’ll consider it as soon as you get your motion picture debut. You shake on it. Together, your already close bond of brother and sister grows stronger as you each work to support your art.
**
You’re waiting for Samuel to finish his shift so you can catch a late showing of His Girl Friday, a warm September day when you first meet Bucky Barnes down at the wharfs. He’s tall, lean, and glistening with sweat when he rounds out of the warehouse with an armful of crates and nearly knocks you off the pier.
“Hey, watch it!” he snaps. His eyes flash like the water around you, blue and cold and dangerous. Brown locks curl with perspiration against his forehead, the sleeves of his workshirt rolled up over his shoulders, the exposed skin of his throat and arms flushed and tan.
Embarrassed, you try to steady him, to which he growls in annoyance and spins out of your reach. He makes a great show of bearing the weight himself, grumbling as he sets down his load. You don’t miss the way the muscles in his back flex and dip. It isn’t until he slowly stands back up, wiping his palms on his khakis, that you get a good look at each other.
The hostility in his eyes softens ever so slightly, simmering into a look that cinches your chest tight when his gaze travels shamelessly up from your kitten heels to the curves of your lips and cheek. His breathing is still labored as he surveys you and you can feel heat and color blooming against your skin. When his eyes finally settle on your face, you can’t decide whether you want to slap or kiss him.
“You lost or something, honey?” He asks with a whisper of a smile. He strolls in a lazy half-circle in front of you and moves to go back up the ramp to the warehouse. Then, he pauses and turns back to you.
“Have we met before? I swear I recognize you from somewhere.”
This delights you deliciously, that a handsome young man you’ve met by chance has seen your work. Not glamorous, acclaimed roles by any means, but recognition nonetheless. You bite the inside of your lip to suppress your smile and give him a coy, bashful flutter of your eyelashes.
“If that were the case, I’m sure I’d remember you.”
He grins wolfishly, pleased, and takes a step closer. “Yeah? Think you’ll let me take you out for dinner tonight?”
“She’s got plans with me, Buck.” Samuel’s voice carries across the water. Your brother emerges with wooden boxes and sets them between you and Bucky in a huff, as if he’s implementing a physical barrier, both childish and endearing. Bucky glances at you and Samuel.
“Are you two..?”
“Steady? No. She’s my sister.”
Bucky snorts and his eyes find you again, glittering in the evening light. “You never told me you had a sister, Sammy. And such a looker too..”
“Makes you wonder why I never brought her up,” retorts Samuel and gives him a playful shove, traps him briefly in a headlock. “At least Steve wouldn’t ogle.”
“Stevie would get a nose bleed and pass out.” You hear Bucky grunt back. Samuel moves as if to dump him into the drink and Bucky pinwheels, scrambling. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean it!”
Satisfied, Samuel releases him and socks him in the shoulder for good measure. Bucky stumbles, looking boyish and smooth despite his shirt and hair all disheveled.
You’ve seen his type in casting offices all across New York; bold, alluring, and charismatic. It’s a look and type you’ve longed to act opposite of someday, as all young starlets dream of, but a look that simultaneously sparks the feminine temptation that shivers between your breasts. You wonder if Bucky would look the same in a dark bedroom, with him on top of you and your fingers running over his back…
Bucky grins toothily when he catches you staring and shoots you a wink. None of those movie star hopefuls hold a candle now to his rugged, spirited charm.
Samuel guides you back up the pier so he can punch out his time card and the two of you can be on your way. And as you’re about to set foot on solid ground, you hear Bucky call out to you.
“What’s your name, honey?”
Samuel sighs and shakes his head. “Cripes.” He mutters to himself. Before Samuel can stop you, you laugh and turn back to the water with a fresh and girlish aire, warmth and excitement whispering through your veins, young and naive and sixteen.
“Dolores!” You give him your full name, your real name. For once, you don’t want to be Lola Sparks. You want to be your natural, honest self, the girl who deserves young love and joy and an untroubled adolescence. The sound of your voice rings clear and strong, the diva that you are, and Bucky’s mouth curves upwards.
“See you ‘round, Dot.”
**
Much to Samuel’s displeasure, you tail your big brother around the docks like a lost pup whenever you have time. And being a C-list actress and a part-time typist, you have plenty of it. You loiter with the excuse of bringing sack lunches, waiting on Samuel and Bucky at the edge of the warehouses. It’s lonesome and bores you to no end being all by yourself, until one afternoon when someone is already waiting at your spot by the pier.
Small, skinny as his own shadow with a fringe of blonde hair, he leans hunkered and folded within himself, timid and seemingly conscious of how he occupies space. His jacket droops over his shoulders, eyes downcast even as you approach. He has a sketchbook in his hands, concentrated as the pencil moves across the page in fast, gentle strokes. You see an impressive likeness of the piers and Bucky’s distant figure in charcoaled lines.
“That’s really something.” You say.
He jolts so hard the paper tears and he crumples it into his fist in a single motion. “Huh?” he answers. When he looks to you, you realize his eyes are a pretty shade of teal. He flushes, petrified, the tips of his ears coloring pink. You feel horrible when he goes to pocket the ball of paper.
“I’m so sorry for scaring you,” you breathe. Gently, you offer your palm to him. “If you’re not keeping it, do you mind if I have it?” You ask softly. A few seconds pass and he shakes his head before placing it in your hand. You unfurl the paper, carefully smooth it out as he watches you from the corner of his eye.
Shyness is a barrier of art you’ve known all too well, from your own experiences in audition rooms to your brother’s reluctance to find a publisher, you understand that sting of insecurity better than anyone. So, you let him watch you as you admire his work, let him know of his talent and let your actions speak for you. You smile and slip the drawing into your purse.
Then, his stomach grumbles audibly, almost comically loud. He folds his arms around his stomach, so tight you’re afraid he’ll snap in half. You quickly reach into one of your paper bags and hand him a sandwich wrapped in cellophane and a can of lemonade.
“Here, let’s trade.”
“That’s awfully kind of you, but I can’t accept..” he starts. The timbre of his voice is surprisingly gallant and sure, pleasant, sweet. You have a gut feeling that the world has been taking advantage of that kindness his whole life, scaring him away from genuine compassion, that everything must have a catch. It makes you press harder.
“I insist. Please. It’s the least I can do for sneaking up on you.” He eyes you warily and again that feeling of regret washes over you. “Consider it payment.” You smile.
Finally, he takes Samuel’s lunch from you and unwraps the sandwich. He eats quickly and quietly, draining the lemonade only minutes later. Perhaps it’s his bony statue, but you feel happy to see this stranger eat.
When he’s finished, he wipes his mouth and turns to you. His lips, pretty, pink, part as if about to speak, yet no words leave him. Instead, he stands frozen with that transfixing blue-green gaze keeping you still, lingering.
That is until a stream of brilliant scarlet red dribbles down his chin and splatters onto his dress shirt. He pinches his nose, doubling forward and his flustered complexion matching the blood spilling from his nostrils.
“You must be Steve,” You laugh lightly and quickly hand him your handkerchief of cream yellow lace and embroidered flowers. You help steady him as he keeps his head tilted down. “Bucky’s told me all about you.”
Steve groans and presses the handkerchief to his face, blushing all the way down to his neck.
**
Steve returns your handkerchief days later with an embarrassed hush, carefully cleaned and laundered. It smells of lavender and clean linen and the image of him working the fabric between his thin fingers with soap and suds warms your heart.
You tell him it’s his. He blooms and keeps it neatly folded in his breast pocket.
You and Steve quickly grow close in the hours you spend together waiting on Bucky and Samuel. You pack extra lunches for him and sit by the piers chatting, skipping stones as Steve sketches the Brooklyn skyline day in and day out.
“Draw me!” you tease. “Isn’t that the request that all artists want to hear?”
But surprisingly, he does. He always draws you and Bucky and Samuel with striking, intimate familiarity. His sketchbook gradually fills with portraits and pictures of you, sketches that could put your very headshot to shame.
**
After their usual shifts, the four of you head to the drugstore for your ritual of sodas and sundaes. Two pairs, brother and sister and brothers by blood enjoying a rare wartime treat. With the rations on sugar, it’s a special and memorable circumstance just to be together and sharing something sweet.
It’s there, at your corner booth in Wolfe’s Pharmacy over ice cream, that Bucky opens up a paper for that night’s television network schedule and sees your name.
His eyebrows shoot up. “Dot,” he says. “What do others call you?”
Defeated, you twist your lips, hesitant to break the short spell of normalcy you’ve had with your new friends. Samuel sips at his Coke with a silent grin.
Time for the truth to come out.
“Well, ‘doll’, by Stevie,” you giggle and toe Steve’s foot under the table. Steve shyly shrinks back into his seat. “But CBS calls me Lola.”
Bucky’s jaw drops.
“Get out of here. You’re pulling my leg..”
“I absolutely am not.”
“Sammy, tell me she’s pulling my leg.”
“She’s not.”
Two pairs of brilliant blue eyes dart between you and your brother. Bucky’s face breaks into an open smile, laughing. Steve lurches forward.
“Have you ever met anyone famous?” Steve prods with a hint of that honest, innocent charm.
You wrinkle your nose sheepishly. “Mason Cook?”
“Who?” Bucky asks around a mouthful of sundae.
“Exactly.” Samuel snorts.
“Well, I’m sure he’s very talented.” Says Steve.
You swipe his maraschino cherry and let the stem dangle between your lips. “At least Stevie believes in me.”
“Dot, honey. I saw your pilot episode. If anyone’s a fan, it’s me.” Bucky feigns hurt, hand to his chest.
You stick out your bottom lip before sucking in the stem, working it into a tight knot in your mouth. “Are you still gonna be when your girl is signing autographs with John Wayne?”
You place the knotted stem on your napkin. Bucky nearly chokes.
“I better be.”
Samuel coughs. Steve giggles.
**
You thank your stars that your secret doesn’t change anything between Steve and Bucky. They treat you just the same; as Samuel’s baby sister who tags along with the boys. The teasing, the fleeting looks all unchanging.
Girls, you’ve unfortunately realized, are catty and mean. You’re competing for roles, after all. But with Bucky and Steve, your first taste of homecoming since moving to Brooklyn, you don’t have to worry about silly competition, or fame, or being the best in the room. They keep you level-headed, reminding you of your girlhood and life’s simple pleasures.
Bucky drives you and Steve around town in the company truck on weekends. Hopscotch and jacks on brick roads and warm nights, watching sunsets until the sky blushes peach and mango yellow at Coney Island.
A Saturday afternoon on Rockaway Beach, a vacation for you all after a draining week of work and auditions when Bucky promises to win you a stuffed bear when he sees you eyeing the one on careful display.
“Buck..Bucky, give it a rest, we can try the next one.” Steve chides.
Another plastic ring pings off the neck of a glass bottle. Bucky curses, rings his hands together and slaps another dollar onto the counter.
You and Steve trade looks. Bucky’s been at it for ten minutes. At this rate, you know you’ll be walking on the train tracks home tonight.
So, you and Steve huddle close and cheer him on. Do it for our doll! says Steve. Finish it so you’ll stop wasting money, you dolt! you cry. Hell, even the vendor finds it humorous and joins in.
And when Bucky wins that grand prize and you’re handed a teddy bear as big as Stevie, you hoist it on your back, careful to not let it touch gravel or dust as the three of you walk in line with the train tracks later that evening.
Paradise, a sheltered haven from the broken landscapes and realities that the European newsreels broadcast home in grim black and white.
**
True to Bucky’s word, they become your biggest supporters, helping you run lines and monologues and accompanying you to auditions. Bucky’s not bad for a scene partner, and Steve’s awareness of emotion and character motivation is impressive.
The attention you receive from casting directors and auditionees doesn’t hurt your chances either, lanky Steve and smoldering Bucky wishing you luck before stepping into the green room.
You book a drama. Then, a short film. Then another. You call them your lucky charms.
And when your humble little short film “premiers” at the corner cinema, squeezed in between an empty noon showing of a cartoon rerun, Steve and Bucky whoop and holler when your character is shown on screen. They throw popcorn and gumdrops, jostle you by the shoulders. Bucky even runs down the aisle and mimes kissing the projector screen.
“That’s our girl! That’s our Dot!”
The usher threatens to throw you out. Steve tells him you’ve paid good money for your tickets and you’ll stay and watch as long as you please.
The following week, you’re scouted by Peggy Carter.
Your world, your career will never be the same.

STARS & STRIPES + PHASE 2
AGENT 13 (2014, dir. Phoebe Waller-Bridge)
Agent Audrey Carter-Rogers is transferred to the Triskelion in February 2014.  But she’s not the only Agent Carter in D.C., and certainly not the first Agent Carter that S.H.I.E.L.D. has had.  Jodie Comer and Hayley Atwell reprise their roles alongside newcomer Emily VanCamp in this neo-noir Marvel Oneshot, which serves as a backdoor pilot for the hit ABC series Agent Carter and unearths the history of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Peggy Carter’s legacy.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (2014, dir. Joe and Anthony Russo)
After the cataclysmic events in New York with his fellow Avengers, Steve Rogers and his daughter, Audrey Carter-Rogers, move to the nation's capital as Steve continues to adjust to modern times. An attack on a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague throws Rogers into a web of intrigue that places the whole world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow and a new ally, the Falcon, Captain America and Lady Liberty struggle to expose an ever-widening conspiracy, but his team soon come up against an unexpected enemy.
HAWKEYE(S) (2014, created by Rob Thomas)
Clint Barton and his protogee, Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), move to Los Angeles after a series of attacks they suspect may have been at the hands of Enchantress, a young Enhanced that has been on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s radar for almost a decade.  After setting up shop as fake-P.I.s, Barton and Bishop aren’t expecting any other cases—but when a woman named America Chavez (Tashi Rodriguez) asks for their help, that all changes.
THE FALCON: SEASON 1 (2014, created by Barry Jenkins)
After the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., Sam Wilson moves to New York to assist the Avengers in fighting HYDRA and help Steve Rogers track down the Winter Soldier.  During his time in the city, he inadvertently entangles himself with one of New York’s most powerful mafia families by accidentally pissing off mob princess Annie Esposito (Doja Cat) and falls in love with bakery owner Olivia Perales (Aimee Garcia).  None of this was part of the plan—but that’s just the way things go when you’re a superhero.
AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON (2015, dir. Joss Whedon)
When Tony Stark jump-starts a dormant peacekeeping program, things go terribly awry, forcing him, Thor, the Incredible Hulk, and the rest of the Avengers to reassemble. As the fate of Earth hangs in the balance, the team is put to the ultimate test as they battle Ultron, a technological terror hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they encounter two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.
QUICKSILVER & THE SCARLET WITCH (2015, created by Dan Harmon)
Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were anarchists just months ago—now, they’re the world’s newest Avengers.  This sitcom follows the Maximoffs as they navigate the road to heroism, their respective romances with medic Mattie Rowland (Normani Kordei) and security guard Oliver Modi (Avan Jogia), and the winding force that tethers the twins to each other.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR (2016, dir. Joe and Anthony Russo)
Political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability when the actions of the Avengers lead to collateral damage. The new status quo deeply divides members of the team. Captain America believes superheroes should remain free to defend humanity without government interference. Iron Man sharply disagrees and supports oversight. As the debate escalates into an all-out feud, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Lady Liberty must pick a side.

1944
There she stood in all her glory, laughing and chatting away with her sister Peggy, and Howard. There Steve sat at the bar, eyes glued to her and mouth half open with his best friend Bucky, sitting next to him cackling at the man beside him.
“Aren’t you meant to be partners?” he nudged Steve’s arm, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen you string a full sentence around her,” he raised his eyebrows. Steve sighed, it wasn’t his fault he’s never been good with the ladies. It seemed that Bucky got all of those skills and Steve was left behind a flustered mess of a man who could barely talk to the women he was hopelessly falling for. Unless of course they were on the battlefield and then from the sheer distraction of the battle and overpowering need to help and fight was Steve able to construct a sentence. This helplessness did not go unnoticed by Bucky, nor Howard, who had both been continuously poking fun at the poor Captain for the better part of the entire time Steve had known Y/N.
It’s not that Y/N was unaware of Steve’s feelings towards her, in fact she’d caught on quite quickly that he became tongue-tied whenever she was near (she’s a smart girl after all) and used that knowledge to tease the poor man, much to everyone else’s amusement, including her own. She enjoyed watching him stutter over his words and watch her from afar, it made her feel important, wanted and even excited. She couldn’t help but steal her own glances his way, though hard to find a moment when he wasn’t looking at her she made do. Steve went to open his mouth, a sarcastic retort ready to be thrown towards Bucky when he felt a soft hand on his arm.
“Evening boys, enjoying the night off?” She smiled at the two men, holding Steve’s gaze for an extra second before looking towards the bartender to order another drink. Her hand fell from Steve’s arm, resting on the edge of the bar a hair away from brushing against him.
“Always enjoy a night off Lady Liberty,” Bucky smirked at her knowing how much she despised being called her alter-ego’s name in social settings. He stood from his seat, patting Steve on the shoulder, “but if you excuse me there is a group of lovely women across the bar that are calling my name.”
Steve cursed Bucky for leaving him alone in his head, promising that payback will be served. Usually America’s hero could get away with his awkwardness by surrounding himself with other people, nodding and shaking his head whenever the conversation called for it. He smiled at Y/N before staring at the drink in his hands.
“And what about you Rogers, enjoying your night?” She asked sweetly, taking a sip of her new drink.
“uh - well - yeah of course” he laughed nervously, moving a hand through his blonde hair. She laughed with him, find the blush that rose up his neck and across his cheeks adorable. “You?”
“I always enjoy nights out with my favourite boys and my gal.” Steve’s smile widened knowing he was apart of her favourite people, his blush deepening on his cheeks.

“Right now we’re in the middle of nowhere. If I wait any longer a lot of people are gonna die. Peggy, this is our choice.” Steve turned to Y/N who leaned over the control panel next to him. They nodded at each other, a silent agreement of the sacrifice they were making.
“Together?”
“Together.”
2011
“It’s all a bit strange isn’t it?” Y/N sat on the bed in the small room Fury had set her up with, it sat opposite Steve’s, both exact copies of each other. He stood by the window watching the people below, his arms crossed as he sighed and turned towards her.
“At least we’re not alone in all of this though,” he moved to sit next to her. Y/N reached for his hand holding it tightly between both of her own. He squeezed her hand, tangling his fingers with her own. Everything the pair knew was gone, their friends were gone, Y/N’s sister, Peggy was now old and some days didn’t think she was real. Everything was different except for each other.
“Do you think it’ll get easier?” She muttered, the two looked at each other, Steve nodded slightly standing back up and walking back to his spot by the window. “Steve?”
“Mhmm?” Y/N stood walking towards Steve, she placed her hand on his arms, pulling them apart and replacing them with herself against his chest. Steve sucked in a breath, wrapping his arms around her, holding Y/N as close to him as possible. All romantic feelings are forgotten about, there’s no need for that at this moment, all that’s important is that they know they have each other.
“Together?” He asks into her hair.
“Together.”

2012
“Super soldier and tech genius,” Natasha laughs picking up and inspecting the various gadgets and devices sprawled across the table, “I can’t believe how fast you took to all of this stuff.”
“Stark wasn’t the only tech genius in the day hun, where do you think he got his ideas from,” Y/N winked at her friend, snatching the gadget from Nat’s hand and placing it back on the table.
“It was hard enough getting the two of them out of their workshop most days.” The two women turned towards the door to see Steve leaning against the frame with a smirk on his face. Y/N laughed, remembering the time Peggy had threatened her to ‘come out and eat some goddamn food’ with Steve behind her trying to laugh when she replied ‘no I think I’ll starve to death thanks’.
Steve walked over to the table and took a seat next to Y/N. Nat stood from her own spot and began making her way out.
“I better get to training you two, don’t cause too much trouble,” she winked walking out the door.
“Trouble? Me? I don’t know what she’s talking about.” The two looked at each other before they both burst out into a fit of laughter. Steve caught his breath but his smile stayed on his face as he watched Y/N settle back into her seat, “everything all good Stevie?” she asked.
Steve nodded quickly looking down at the desk and began fidgeting with whatever gadget was closest to him, “‘course,” he mumbled.
“Just miss me huh?” she pulled his hand away from the desk, turning his body to face her, Steve chuckled softly.
“You caught me” he whispered.
“I just saw you at breakfast” Y/N’s voice matched his as she took a step between his legs, her hand still holding his. Steve sucked in a breath, his eyes darted between hers and her lips. No words could come out, he was afraid if he said anything that the moment would be ruined.
Y/N raised her hand, brushing her fingers against Steve’s cheek who closed his eyes in response, wanting to remember the feeling of her hand on his face. She took a deep breath before leaning in towards him. Steve kept his eyes closed, he felt her lips brush against his, a small whine escaped him when she pulled away slightly. It was all the confirmation she needed to press harder against his lips. Steve immediately cupped her cheek with his free hand, his other letting go of hers to grab her hip and pull Y/N closer into him. Her hands went to the back of his neck and into his hair. The kiss continued, neither wanted to stop any time soon, they’d waited almost 80 odd years for it.

2015
Y/N collapsed onto the bed as soon as she walked into the room.
“You alright sweetheart?” Steve asked taking off his jacket and hanging it on the back of the door. Y/N rolled onto her back and looked over at her boyfriend.
“I feel a bit sick but I think it was just the food, you?”
“Bit sore,” he smiled falling onto the bed next to her, “you sure it’s just the food, you didn’t get hit or anything?” Y/N smiled at the concerned man as he scanned her body for any damage that may have gone unnoticed.
“I promise Steve it’s just the-oh god” Y/N leapt from the bed and sprinted towards the bathroom, only just making it in time to vomit into the toilet. Steve ran in after her, rubbing her back and passing her a face cloth and a glass of water when she was ready.
“Steve would you stop pacing please it’s making me nauseous,” Steve stopped immediately at her request, his shoulders were tense and his arms were crossed over his chest to prevent him from running it through his hair again.
“Doc will you please tell him I’m fine and that it’s just food poisoning,” the doctor walked into the room with a clipboard in his hands.
“She’s absolutely fine,” he said to Steve, “but it’s not food poisoning,” his attention turned back to Y/N whose eyes went wide. The pair looked at each other, both not understanding what the doctor was saying.
“What do you mean?” Steve asked frantically.
“Y/N you’re pregnant,” the doctor smiled. Y/N’s stared at him agape as did Steve, “I’ll give you two a minute” he spoke before leaving again.
“Steve I-” before Y/N could get another word out Steve grabbed her face and pressed his lips to hers in a kiss that was desperate and passionate. He pulled back slightly before giving her another peck on the lips.
“I’m pretty sure you just made me the happiest man in the world” Steve laughed out pressing his forehead to hers.
“Are you sure? This is pretty terrifying and we don’t exactly have the most stable of lives, you don’t have to pretend to want this,” Y/N began to ramble but was interrupted by Steve kissing her again, he pulled back further, brushing her hair back from her face.
“I promise you it’s not pretend, I want this, but only if you do” his voice was low and calm, Y/N knew that the decision was ultimately hers, he’d agree with whatever she wanted. She nodded her head, her hands on his forearms.
“Who wouldn’t want to have Captain America’s babies” she winked, Steve laughed at her as the doctor walked back into the room.

2017
Steve walked up the stairs of the cabin, he untied the laces of his boots and chucked them to the side of the door, not wanting to track snow and mud into the house. As soon as he opened the door a chorus of stamping feet and voices erupted.
“Daddyyyy”
“You’re back!”
He crouched on the ground, opening his arms for the two girls who ran into him at full speed, their arms tangling around his neck and each other. Steve fell onto his back with an ‘oof’ and the girls erupted in giggles when he started tickling their sides and tried to escape. He laughed at the squirming of the girls on top of him. His girls. His precious girls. Steve turned his head towards the door of the kitchen when he heard footsteps approaching, seeing Y/N standing in the doorway smiling the three of them on the ground.
“Evening love,” he smiled up at her, lifting the small children off his chest and onto their feet, they quickly ran back to in front of the couch where their toys were spread across the floor.
“Hi” Y/N watched as Steve stood up and walked towards her, pulling her into him as her arms snaked around his neck.
“You have a good day?” he asked giving her nose a quick kiss.
“Better now” she smiled at him placing a proper kiss on his lips. Steve hummed in content, kissing her check and turning his attention to his two daughters who were playing with their toys, one had a stuffed dinosaur that seemed to be destroying a village, the other held a doll version of her mother in full costume who was defending the village from the monster.
“Lady Liberty to the rescue!” she yelled out. The two parents laughed at their antics, still holding onto each other, both comfortable to stay like that for the rest of the night. Or at least for the meantime, before they would have to start running around the house to get the girls into bed, but that was a worry for later. For now though, they had each other.

Summary: An SGA/SG-1 AU that spins off from the Ori arc that runs through Seasons Nine and Ten of SG-1 by changing one simple thing: the Ori don't lose. Earth is the last significant planet to fall in the Milky Way, but fall it does. Hard.
After Earth's fall, a large resistance movement was active, utilizing the Daedalus, the only surviving SGC carrier, as it's main instrument. Running raids in the Milky Way and bringing refugees and supplies to Atlantis, the Daedalus was the only lifeline between the two galaxies. Eventually her luck ran out and she was nearly destroyed by an Ori armada; after limping back to Atlantis, she is no longer flight-worthy and Atlantis is finally truly alone.
Over in Pegasus, Atlantis was first a long-distance witness and then a rear echelon for the escalating fight with the Ori over the Milky Way galaxy before becoming the final retreat for those who survived. Cut off from Earth and forced to revert to its (Season One) status as isolated outpost responsible for its own needs, Atlantis still has the responsibilities it has assumed in Pegasus -- defeating the Wraith and protecting those who can't help themselves -- while also awaiting the inevitable arrival of the Ori.
