(UPDATED) HEADCANON: FAMILIAL SITUATION/FATHER.
ive been considering this for a while, and ive come to a decision that goro and mondo have actually interacted more than a handful of times. however these times are in a set environment, and m.ondo would still not know how his father would react to certain things outside of said environment.
that being said, goro has taught mo.ndo the ins and outs of his job as an architect. this would be considered their only “bonding” time, and goro mostly does this to keep the work he does at home interesting. mo.ndo, due to this, is actually very good at designing architectural things, as he did take a begrudging interest to his fathers work due to his growing need to give back to the community and build things rather than destroy them. however he doesn’t have the drive to pursue a job in architecture -- instead leaning towards carpentry, as its more hands on.
while m.ondo isn’t likely to admit it, he enjoys the creativity in designing buildings and other things, and it comes with much more ease for him than drawing people. back before his high school days that was generally how he spent his nights, designing things with his father (who would berate him for small things, which did dampen his view on the profession).
now he’ll occasionally design his own ideas, most of which he know his old man wouldnt like (not finding it practical or something along those lines), and he keeps those drawings locked away in his desk or tucked under his bed.
over all mon.do’s interactions with his father are very mixed. during time spent designing, thats the friendliest he’ll ever see his father (through the occasional snide and nasty comments), and basically... all other times mon.do has to be on high alert as not to do anything wrong. he himself was very confused due to this shift, but has simply come to the (correct) conclusion that his father is an asshole
