Interesting that the Doctor says his adopted family is the reason he uses a title. Except thats not quite true is it?

Sure they are stuffy aristocrats who love ranks and titles but Tecteun, Rassilon, Borusa, Romana, Pandad, Andred, Rodan, Darkel, Flavia, and practically every other non-renegade timelord (and even some renegades like Drax) still use regular (if not human) names.

But you know who does often use titles? THE GODS. Those from before or beyond the universe's constraints. The Toymaker, The Guardians, The Maestro, The Trickster, The The Beast, The One Who Waits, The Gods of Ragnarok, The Entity, etc. Even those with 'names' often have descriptive ones like Time or Swarm.

Is it really the Doctor's adopted family that made them identify with titles? Or is it perhaps traces of their 'birth family' peaking through?

More than anything I just want to know if RTD is going anywhere with this. Did he just need a quick way to get new audiences on board with calling the main character the Doctor? Or does it mean something.

Yeah, so while I was on my "I'm going to read into Vanny/Vanessa as much as possible" journey, I noticed an odd quirk in her animations in how she moves. At first, I thought it reminded me of a ballerina, 'cause she's kinda tip-toeing, & she has this way of keeping her head & chest in one place as she moves, but I looked again & realized --

That's not ballet! She's doing a tight-rope act. Like, look at this one:

This is like standing up on the wooden boards before you do the actual tight-rope walking, & the ring leader is hyping you up as you do some fun movement for the crowds. &, then, these:

These are all instances where she walks with one foot directly in front of the other. In that third, she's doing the "woaaah" wiggly-ass balance movements & everything, as if she's swaying up at the top of the tent, even though she's down on solid ground.

Idk, I feel like the way her feet are placed isn't accurate (pretty sure they should be pointed left & right, not both forwards...) doesn't make this 100% correct, but I like it. It also connects back with her first SB teaser, wherein she's up in the rafters.

Special nicknames were once thought to be only limited to the Chinese dub but after an update, people are starting to discover voiced lines for special nicknames for the JP dub (JP subs NOT required). Twitter thread

Here are all three boys calling you “honey” with ENG subs

Then there’s “nee-chan” (Seiya), “nee-san” (Rei), and “onee-chan” (Homura)

Someone posted Homura’s onee-chan line when they switched their nickname to “Darling” using JP dubs and ENG subs, so I’m assuming the ENG dub has a voiced line for “Darling” too

There’s also “Baby” as seen in this video of Homura. Here are videos of all three guys saying “baby” but the bgm is really loud lol

Some are speculating that you can try the equivalents of the Chinese special nicknames in the other languages

So in english, you could try

“Baby/babe” (works in both JP and I’m assuming CN, and is probably the most common english pet name)

“Darling” (confirmed as a stand-in for “big sister” in CN and JP)

“Girlfriend” (confirmed available in the eng subs)

“Honey” (confirmed available in the eng subs)

“Cutie” (confirmed available in the eng subs, but as a stand-in for the JP dub version of “baby”.)
