Rinzler watched in silence as Clef setup the readout, trying to focus more on it than the scan going over the gap in their armor. He understood a… decent amount of the terms used as the lines scrolled and filtered visuals flashed on screen. Everything was even more scrambled than usual, which was saying something. Rinzler’s systems and the code within them were a mess on a good day. It wasn’t too surprising though, considering it was feeling more and more like his render was eating itself.

As soon as Midas indicated the scan was done Rinzler re-rezzed the damaged armor back into place. He took a moment to look over the readout as it finished before taking the offered datapad. The summary didn’t reveal much else in his eyes, just alerts about the old virus and new malware. [Delete it.] He pinged back to Clef as he handed the datapad back over.

The other virus, the original, had been active since the oldest memory file they had. The Admin had said it was from being lost deep in the poisoned Sea of Simulation for an extended period of time. Even for Clu’s ability the virus was unfixable. It was just a part of Rinzler now.

He hadn’t given much thought on how the two would interact other than it would hurt. It didn’t really matter much anyway about Midas saying it was all or nothing with the two. Rinzler had never planned on letting the Medics into his systems.

“The older virus is not a concern. It is under control.” Rinzler growled, frustrated. He knew this was a waste of time. The scan hadn’t done anything other than confirm what the Enforcer already knew. Why had he agreed to come here?

Maybe the all or nothing did matter. If Midas found out that the older virus in his system was permanent the medic would likely put Rinzler down like a poisoned Datagrazer. The close proximity of the two Medics felt more like a cage now, and where was Eve? They said she had gone to secure the perimeter, but that could easily have been a lie. She could be waiting. Ready to stab him in the back in their signal. If she really was gone though, this was his last chance to get out.

Feeling more and more trapped Rinzler hastily braced himself against the rock and pulled himself to his feet. Instinct and threat assessments screamed at him to leave now. “Your assistance isn’t needed anymore.” Rinzler looked at Midas sharply before glancing at Clef briefly, an unspoken threat to the apprentice’s mentor of what would happen if he were followed.

Rinzler’s body language radiates distrust and pain. Hunched over and head tilted. His face may be covered by a blank helmet but there’s no doubt he’s glaring daggers.

They don’t like accepting help, it shows weakness, imperfection. Especially accepting it from an unfamiliar program.

But… going back to Clu with visibly bad injuries after letting extremists get the jump on him is much worse than a hit to their pride.

“Just the patches…” Rinzler replies sharply.

i think a crucial aspect of the codebreakers dynamic that is sometimes overlooked is how likewise enamoured phil is with étoiles . like étoiles is the god of praising and hyping people up so people tend to focus on how much étoiles thinks phil is the coolest guy ever but do not forget that phil also thinks étoiles is the coolest fucking guy to ever guy he will never pass up an opportunity to talk about how cool and strong and funny étoiles is . their relationship is built on their mutual ‘WOW this guy is awesome’ feelings for one another and it is amazing

muleda was quite a skilled fighter from a young age, often earning lots of praise. however, she had also been pressured by those around her, mainly her parents.

that aside, the royal family had heard of her, and decided that she would make a good royal guard. that was when she would meet mipha, and the two formed an inseparable bond, viewing eachother as sisters. (idk i just needed an excuse for mipha to meet muleda)

mipha would often tell her stories about the princess of hyrule, and muleda would tease her everytime. the two also shared their struggles together, and would comfort each other.

however, the calamity was still and impending problem. muleda had been worried for mipha, mipha was like a little sister to her, and she was concerned about mipha piloting vah ruta. but, she brushed it off. muleda believed that mipha was independent, and could handle that position.

when the calamity struck, muleda was terrified for mipha. something felt like it was going horribly wrong for her little sister, but she hoped the best for mipha. but ganon won, and muleda was there to witness it (she didn’t directly see mipha die, but she saw vah ruta get corrupted by ganons control)

also side note she got injured I during the calamity that’s where she got her scars from

muleda hadn’t been doing well after the calamity. she had… changed. she wasn’t carefree and jovial anymore, becoming more closed off, irrational, and paranoid. she had struggled harder when she had become a general of zoras domain (idk how she would. lmao)

she later had a daughter, tempah. though she really did care for her child, she couldnt help but be overprotective and afraid for her daughter. she doesnt want to lose another person she cares about

idk what to put for the end but currently (pre-botw), muleda is attempting to free vah ruta and avenge mipha, she still hasn’t moved on from her sisters death. all of her attempts are currently unsuccesful

I'm new to Randl and was wondering what the context is behind Rhett and fanfiction? It seemed people were annoyed he brought it up on that recent podcast, is this a reoccuring thing? Thanks

Okay. I had to dig a little bit and refresh my memory of how it all went down because it's been two years ago lol

but basically the main catalyst was Ear Biscuits episode 348 from September 2022. at the end of the episode Rhett throws a comment about "what are those people on tumblr are gonna do about this (rhett using a butt plug and not telling link about it)".

important note: audio ear biscuits episode used to come out on monday and video version on sunday.

and in the audio version after adding this random comments he goes on and says "(shipping) it's like a religion, people who believe certain thing, regardless of evidence" and in the same sentence compares shippers to flat earthers.

in the video version - that whole part was suddenly gone. all that was left was rhett asking "what are those people gonna do" and link answering "i don't think about those people". they cut rhett calling shippers flat earthers.

and since back then more people would listen to the audio version than wait for the video version of EB, some of us listened on monday and immediately had some thoughts about what rhett said. I found some good posts that happened in the middle of that discourse: here and here

I was always wondering if they cut that from the episode because they got some feedback? the discourse happened mainly here on tumblr and we know mythical or r&l don't really touch this place (or do they?), but I also remember seeing maybe 2 or 3 tweets about that directed at them when it happened.

So yeah, that comment Rhett said about shippers just left a bad taste in everyone's mouths, especially since at the same time they kept mentioning fanfics and kept doing the craziest rhinky things on the show.

Since then Rhett kinda changed the way he talks about shippers, it's more of a - if they keep watching, then I can't say a bad word and might even encourage them to stay engaged. And that's why that comment he said in the Bert Kreischer video was so odd. To me it just seemed he wanted to "impress" the host with some crazy fact like - I have fanfiction written about me 😂

so not paranormal but definitely scary, where I lived with my parents was right beside a huge plot of state game land in the middle of the woods like seriously in the woods our neighbors were very far away type of deal. on my thirteenth birthday my parents had let me stay home alone for the first time because you know "oh you're more grown up now so we'll leave you at home while we go to dinner" kind of thing. I was psyched lol so I was just watching tv in the living room and we had these big bay windows and an open floor plan so you could see through the entire house from the windows. Anyways I felt weird idk and thought I should check the door locks, just to be safe. well, I felt weird because there was a man crouched down watching me through the window

I saw the front door was locked so I ran for the back door and barely beat him to it, which was lucky because it wasn't locked so I was able to throw the deadbolt and crawled for my phone so he couldn't see me as well. He hung around banging on the doors and windows until the state police showed up and by that time he was gone. when my parents had come home and spoke to the cops after they interviewed me and checked the house for fingerprints and footprints they showed my dad that my bedroom window screen had been sliced open with a knife, he'd been looking for a way to pop the window open and he'd pissed in my mom's flowerbeds

my dad taught me how to use guns after that and installed a security system lmao but definitely one of the scariest experiences ive had

• It hurts Catnap to show other emotions with his mouth, so he always smiles. But in the animation "Overnight" he was so upset that he didn't care about the pain and to show his sadness to Dogday he erased his smile

About Medallions

medallions are their souls.

Catnap collects the negative emotions of other critters. This makes his medallion increase. Although he helps others, it’s worse for him if he collects a lot of negativity within himself. He's in pain and reaaally Sick.💀

Each critter has their own cracks in their medallions. They show their emotional state.

Why is Catnap's medallion different?

it’s just that Catnap is punished for what he did in a past life. He pays back by helping and providing therapy to others there will be a rollback from negativity only if someone helps him. But no one will help him yet. The worse the Catnap medallion stage, the more his voice disappears, his beautiful lullaby voice becomes either mute or creepy.

The reason why Catnap is still cursed with this "therapy" ability. He feels guilty for all his mistakes. And it haunts him. His guilt hits harder than other negative emotions of smiling critters.

Sometimes a big red cloud hangs over him in the shape of his past life. And until he forgives himself and does not help others. He will be forever cursed and suffer

Cracked or Cursed Medallions symptoms

When Catnap is too overwhelmed with negativity. He coughs up Red Smoke.

But it doesn’t affect the others in any way. Although other critters are scared by this smoke. Especially Dogday.

Broken medallions.

These are souls that have not found peace, traumatized, broken. They feel bad mentally.

Arc 3.They are all more or less well. Some notice Catnap's strange behavior. Dogday has a hard time accepting Catnap. He already wanted to more or less make the relationship better. But the Red Moon appeared.

Their voices ,Their speaking style

Dogday: The deep voice of a veteran who went through a 100-year war. But sometimes it changes to squeaky if it experiences strong emotions. He remained expressive, but his face is always angry as if it would bite you.

Catnap: Actually he was mute. But he was given a voice in the afterlife. He still can't get used to it. His voice is very gentle, cold and pleasant to the ear, like the Cradle. His voice is also designed for singing.

Bobby: Calming tone, tactile when communicating. Sometimes she makes beautiful speeches. And very chatty. Loves to gossip.

Bubba: Monotonous and calculating Voice. He speaks briefly and clearly. And doesn't gesture at all and he is very passive.

Kickin: He deliberately makes his voice tone rougher to seem cool. He comes up with different slangs and often makes funny gestures. But when he's scared, his voice becomes very squeaky and he chirps like a Chicken.

Hoppy: She has a loud and confident voice, like a fitness club trainer. She will never tire of shouting motivational words at you. She often jumps and runs around you. She doesn't sit still while she chats with you.

Crafty: A gentle and sweet voice, like a princess. She is often distracted and has Daydreaming Syndrome.

Loves fairy tales and everything that is not from reality. She can debate her point of view about creativity

Picky: She has a very fun and playful voice. But sometimes you don’t understand whether she’s happy or ready to roast you in a fire.

I just found your blog today can you please explain or point out a post that explains the MASH timeloop thing? I love the show but I've never heard anyone talk abt it that way before

oh yay hurray ive been waiting for an excuse to talk about this lmao sorry this is long

ok so basically maeve (my gf) and i started watching mash for the first time about a month ago and we started joking about it being like the characters were stuck in a time loop mostly because the same basic episode format is repeated over and over, because it's a sitcom from the 70s and the episodes arent meant to be watched en masse where you can start noticing all the little repetitions and plot holes and inconsistencies that naturally occur in longform tv

but then i started to pay attention to the dates being mentioned in the show - famously the korean war never technically ended, but american troops were involved in active on the ground fighting between 1950 and 1953, so the entire 11 seasons of mash have to be squeezed into that three year period. with 251 episodes occurring within 1,129 days, that gives every episode about 4.5 days of real time. so it works right? no time loop right? well wait a sec

for the first 5 seasons or so of mash they give very consistent dates about when things are happening. for example, bj arrives in korea in september of 1952, at the start of season 4. colonel potter arrives about a week after him, and talks about how he has 18 months left before his retirement. that gives us about 7 months for the shows final 7 seasons to take place in, meaning that by the episode 'point of view' in season 7 we should be around december of 1952. in that episode the pov character starts writing a letter home and in the corner he writes the date:

september of 1951. ok, could be that this episode isn't meant to take place in the regular timeline of the season - maybe for some reason its just like, a random flashback episode. but bj, charles, and potter are all present, even though none of them got to korea until 1952. now i KNOW that this is not like, the True Hidden Secret Lore of MASH, this is the writers realizing they were running out of road and turning back the clock a bit to accommodate for how long the show was running on. but play in my time loop space with me please

more talking points:

consistent jokes about time zones and how difficult it is to call the states because "our today is their yesterday but if you call them now it might not reach them until our tomorrow and by that point our yesterday will be their today"

hawkeye's increasing mania over the seasons and his conviction that the war will never end, comparing the camp to dante's inferno multiple times. maeve once pointed out that the closer hawkeye comes to realizing that he's trapped in a time loop the closer he gets to being institutionalized - and what does the series finale cold open onto ? hawkeye in a mental institution. the only way out is to lose yourself etc. sidenote frank also escaped the time loop by going insane and getting institutionalized

in a war for all seasons bj potter and charles are all present at the 1951 new years party as well as the 1952 new years party

there are three christmas episodes, two of which bj is present for even though he should only have spent one christmas in korea

details of people's families and lives shift around - sometimes potter's got multiple grandchildren, sometimes he only has one, sometimes its a girl, sometimes its a boy, sometimes she's 5, sometimes he's 2

we're not the first people to talk about this either, here's a good video compilation posted a couple yrs ago of time loop moments

overall ive been using the time loop thesis to add another layer to my mash viewing experience. it increases the already present sense of constant dread, anger, frustration, and disgust with their situation that the characters feel, plus it feels like a very poignant take on the united states' constant warmongering and violent existence. it really never ends, it just goes on an on. the future's been canceled by the war department- we're just gonna replay the past.

- he has asymmetrical earrings, one stud on one ear and two in the other. curious decision. but I do adore it.

- I love how he looks like he's trying to pose in a "I'm not posing, this is natural" way in his "melancholic misfit" card and in his sr uniform card and his casual outfit r card because it just makes me think he does care a lot about how he looks and how he's perceived. I just think he's the kind of person who spends a decent amount of thought and time to put together and outfit that looks like he's NOT trying but also doesn't make him look slobby. He spends time making his hair the Right amount of "I didn't do anything to it" but he did. For sure. so I also think he smells nice and fights really hard against smelling like the diner or any of the animals in Jabberwock. he puts effort in. He just won't let it be obvious. But I Know.

- I think he's one of the taller (not tallest but not mid or shortest) ones canonically? and I'm personally a believer in him just being bigger than he wants to even acknowledge. Like he doesn't want to take up space or be the guy who someone looks at when they're like "I need a strong man to help me carry these chairs!" Bc he doesn't want to help, but everyone probably was like. 👀 You will help, right? You can carry it right? case in point, carrying Haru in the Jabberwock chapters and being like whatever I'm not that strong, it's just easy when you do it like this. Okay. But also how did you know that? Also no, no it's not that easy to just fireman carry someone AND a little octopus AND a little bunny monster. I know you're a ghoul but christ. And he complains that Haru makes him lug around heavy things around Jabberwock. I'm only stating facts here.

I'm crazy and I researched the demon that his stigma is likely unscrambled out to be. Of course take this all with a grain of salt because although I screenshot these from book excepts available through Google scholar, well... It's demonology and hermeticism and occultism and I'm not here to debate their credibility.

Anyway. Not much that explains explicitly what Ren's stigma would be, but our tsundere lazy gamer bf being contracted to a demon who ENCOURAGES sloth? Yeah that tracks.

and again, the commonality here is that 1) Astaroth stinky and 2) has some kind of knowledge of the past, present, and future/can divine these things at will. So? Why is his stigma related to cleaning/making the mess disappear? Could it have to do something with this control over the past/present/future? Can he change when something is occurring/has occurred? I have no clue, especially when, when it comes to ghouls who have some kind of idea about the Timeline, signs point to Taiga being the one to have that knowledge. If you look up Balam in the same books, well...

I hesitate to make any theories based on the evolution from a fertility goddess because it's a reach and I have little to no expectation that it will be a point in his lore in game, but the information is there for you to do with what you will.

There's not that much like juicy information I could find in my short search that wasn't pay-walled or of dubious authenticity (reddit, blog post from 2003, etc). I could probably spend the time and find more, but alas, I don't have that college access to databases anymore </3 Please let me know if you come to any theories from this though!!
