@america-redefined, more like @enclaveborn actually // muse intro meme //
Elle is... nervous. She thinks that’s understandable. She’s pretty sure anyone else in her position would be nervous. (But then, anyone else probably wouldn’t be in her position.) She knows she couldn’t put this off forever, and she already knows Carrington isn’t happy about it, but... well...
They don’t — They don’t have any choice. X6-88′s wounds are too awful for her to be able to handle by herself. She’s confident in her ability as a field medic, and she knows she’s been able to save people others with more training than her couldn’t help, but — Carrington is a good doctor, even if he hadn’t started out as one. And... and, she... She trusts him. She knows he’ll do everything he can to save someone, even... even a courser.
That particular argument — It’s going to stay with her, a heavy weight in her chest, she knows that. Carrington’s point about how if he saves X6 now, then he could be signing the death warrants of Railroad agents in the future. How he isn’t happy to be doing this, but he’ll do it anyway, because it’s what’s right.
She’s gotten enough lectures about X6-88 since she started traveling with him. She knows the risks she’s been taking, not just for herself, but for the Railroad. For Deacon. For Carrington.  She’s had to explain, over and over, why she’s friends with someone before, but this — this is a lot more serious than trying to justify Dean Domino to her friends at the Lucky 38. She... She knows she’s putting everyone in danger by letting a courser work with her. But... she...
She hasn’t been able to bring herself to turn her back on him. And she especially can’t do it now, when — when he’s so close to death because he was protecting her. But if something happened to the Railroad, to Deacon, to Carrington because of her, she doesn’t think she’d —
Tumblr media
Elle fidgets with her gloves, her hands tugging and twisting anxiously as she stares down at X6-88, unconscious on the bed and bleeding through his bandages.
“C... Carrington, this — He’s... This is... him. X6.” She doesn’t say his full designation out of habit, out of familiarity. “I... This is really... I’m s...” She probably shouldn’t apologize again. “... Thank you.”

// x6-88 is there with elle as she takes care of the automatron dlc — and that’s when he gets injured. because the mechanist’s robots are nasty pieces of work, even for a courser. you know the little shits who fly at you and then self-destruct once they lose all their HP? yeah, he took one of those instead of letting elle get hit with it. and it wipes him the fuck out — almost straight up kills him
in ‘canon’ for them, elle takes x6 to taffington boathouse, where maccready stays while she’s travleing without him. (he ends up settling into the role of settlement leader, because he just can’t help himself, but that’s a story for another time.) my build for taffington is based off of the scav you can logically gather in that area, aka pulling from malden, so taffington has a hefty bit of medical tech there
but she also asks jack cabot to come and help her save x6′s life, because she can only do so much alone — and jack’s taken care of edward’s severe injuries over the past 200yrs, and elle is an honorary cabot, so of course he comes. and then x6 is stuck at taffington for some time for the rest of his recovery
but there’s an alternate version of things i can bring into play for rp purposes, which is the original version i’d contemplated before i remembered that jack has medical skills, too. and that’s elle begging carrington to help her, instead. elle and carrington get along surprisingly well (it’s a long story, ask me about it sometime so i can scream about it. and i don’t mean happy screaming, i mean “ELLE WTF” style, but anyway), and she knows that his morals would ultimately mean that he’d agree. but they have a serious talk slash argument about it first. lemme dig up my chat log with rafe...
elle: before you say anything, i know. i know. but i just elle: i can't
carrington: do you know the ethical dilemma you've put me in
elle: i know and i'm really sorry elle: i'll pay you back. i'll do whatever you want elle: and before you say anything about that too elle: i know
carrington: it's not you, it's him
elle: i know. but he just... i... elle: i'm scared. not... of him. just...
carrington: if he dies because i refuse to treat him, then i'm directly responsible for a person's death and i'm essentially a murderer. if i treat his injuries and he goes on to kill agents of the Railroad, i'm responsible for the deaths of my colleagues who have placed their trust in me.
elle: he... elle: i can't... i can't promise that he won't. i don't know if i... elle: i know this is a huge gamble. i know the risk, i -- i just really think that he can... that he could be... elle: ... i'm sorry. i shouldn't have asked this of you
carrington: (grumble) get him up on the table. there's no one else he can go to.
