to know you will always be associated with your abuser and choosing to say fuck it, to bluntly wear it, to be their more haggard & brutal ghost, to be a wraith who knows your fate of looking like the person who ruined your life and to look like you could haunt them. to destroy their image and make it your own. if their darkness is in you then warp it like they warped you, and make the world know. jump at your reflection in the mirror and force yourself to look at it til you can find it within yourself to love every part of it, even that which represents what destroyed you.

I think the timeskip at the end of Buddy Daddies was necessary. it was necessary to show that this family’s safety and happiness wasn’t short-lived, that they lived 10 years full of joy and love

if they had just ended the series without showing what the future holds, there would probably always be the lingering questions of “are they really free? are they safe?” and they preemptively answered with “yes. for ten years and many more in the future, these three are safe and happy”

Astrid’s whole character arc in the first movie involves her wanting to be the best. The romantic flight was nice and it does do a good job of showing her that Toothless is a good thing yet it doesn’t do anything to satisfy her arc. It says, ‘This is something new that’s cool’ a lot more than it says ‘you can’t be the best at everything’ and asserts that the way she reacted to being second is not cool.
