this is my story:

on february 16, 2020 i was at a 6 hour softball practice and i dove after a fly ball and landed on my left knee with all my weight. it immediately started swelling up and getting bruised so we went to the ER. when went to the ER they took an x-ray and nothing was broken. a couple weeks later i went to a sports medicine doctor and he said it didn’t seem like anything was torn and i got another x-ray to make sure nothing was broken and it still showed that nothing was broken. from the month of february to may i went to hawaii, an echosmith concert, practiced softball, went on long walks, and did physical therapy everyday. on may 12th my knee started to get really hot, started to swell up, and turned really red so i told my doctor and then got an MRI on may 14th. i got the results back on may 15th and it showed that i have a cyst around my meniscus which means that there is a tear. a couple minutes after we got the results back the doctor called and told us to go straight to the ER because the redness was spreading and he wanted to know if i had an infection. so we went to the ER and they tried to get fluid out of my knee to test and they couldn’t so i went home. the next day around 9:30 am the orthopedic doctor that i saw in the ER called and told us that he wants to see if i have an infection by opening my knee up and getting some tests done. so we went to the OR at 10:30am and around 1pm i headed of to get surgery. i got out of surgery at 2pm and my mom came in to the recovery room at 2:30pm and i was still asleep so the doctors let me sleep longer. after an hour or two i still wasn’t awake so they started trying to wake me up but i still wasn’t waking up. they thought i had a stroke so they called stroke alert around 7pm and took me to get a scan of my brain. the scans showed that i didn’t have a stroke so they took me to the ICU and i eventually woke up. the doctors decided that they wanted me to go to a different ICU so around 10:30pm i got taken by ambulance. i then got to the ICU around 12:00am on may 17 and went to bed. i woke up the next morning and noticed that i couldn’t move my hands and toes. i talked to a neurologist and she said i could have nerve damage. i also found out that i had a staph infection. i didn’t really do that much that day except listen to music by @taylorswift and @echosmith because their music helps me think about the positive things in life and always puts me in a good mood! later that night The City Of Lover Concert was on tv so i got to watch it and it was AMAZING! it definitely cheered me up and put me in a better mood. seeing @taylorswift doing the things she loves makes me so happy because i’m just glad i can see someone doing that because i can’t do softball which is the thing i love doing. i eventually got the okay to go home on may 19. ever since i got released from the hospital i have been doing physical therapy every day to help strengthen my hands, toes, and knee and nothing has gotten better. on july 16 i am going to get testing done and i am also going to be getting a MRI of my head and spine in a couple of days to see if i have nerve damage. i will also be getting a MRI of my knee to look at the torn meniscus. i believe that everything happens for a reason so i just hope i am able to get back to doing the thing i love (softball) and that i will be stronger than ever. this experience has been a rollercoaster and @taylorswift music has helped a lot through this. @taylorswift if you are reading this i just wanted to say thank you because if it weren’t for you and your music i probably would have given up on life. i will keep y’all updated. thank you! xoxo hailey💕

i hope everyone’s having a great day!🌸🦋🌟🌊💖 today isn’t the best day for me. yesterday my knee got even worse and swelled up again and now i can’t walk on it. when i went to bed last night i could fall asleep cause i wasn’t able to move my knee and ended up falling asleep between 2-3am then woke up at 5am and couldn’t go back to sleep. then i just had a online doctors visit and now i have an MRI sometime this week🥺. like always i have been listening to a lot of @echosmith and @taylorswift music and their songs have helped me get through the pain of my knee. wish me luck!💕 https://www.instagram.com/p/CAIzCvOneQc/?igshid=ohc6pbyuhlih
