It happens not long after they get married.

Harry pinched the sleeve of the shirt Ginny was wearing and said, "this right here... this is my shirt."

Ginny shook her head, "I don't know what you're talking about..."

Harry hummed. Long and low, and Ginny kissed him because that's what Ginny did to get away with things.

"You see right here?" Ginny showed him the name embroidered on the left side of the chest, "see what it says?"

"Potter."

"Yup, that's me. Ginevra Weasley Potter for you."

"Mhm..." he winced, "are you called Harry too? It says Harry Potter on the back..."

Ginny stared at him for a long beat, her lips pursed, as the both of them try not to smile. Finally, with a seriousness that would convince anyone, she blurts out, "Harry's my middle name."

And that did it. It took Harry five full minutes to stop laughing.

I like that they made Vegeta learn the power of Destruction, and that what he does with it is a complete opposite of what it's intended to do: protect and save what he holds dear instead of wreaking havoc and destroying. He must be tired of constantly losing everything

They looked at each other for a long moment, no doubt both imagining the outright terror that would unfold if Mrs. Weasley somehow got wind of their foray into typical teenage mischief. He imagined there might be a howler or two involved. Or perhaps she’d just come barreling into the Great Hall herself, armed with knitting needles and all wound up for a proper scolding. Without speaking, Harry and Ron came to a resolute agreement. They could not be seen.

Why do you think hes not from yellow?

despite saying i wouldnt type it all out before, i did end up typing it all out and drafting it before i went back to sleep this morning because goodness have I thought waaay too hard about this every time I see a yt or reddit essay about why Yellow's canonical over RGB. this is just my excuse to actually share it.

"his name's Red" was only partly a joke; Red is in fact the default player name in Red version and only Red version, and his rival's default name is Green or Blue depending on localisation. In Yellow, the default player name is (well) Yellow, and the rival's default name is actually Blue (ブルー) in Japanese as well rather than Green (グリーン) as is JP canon.

Speaking of Green, the Yellow theory ignores him completely. His gym team is entirely mons from his RGB teams minus the starters; in fact, NONE of his Yellow-exclusive pokémon (eg Fearow, Sandslash, Cloyster, Ninetales- not even an Eeveelution) ever show up on any of his future main-series teams. The only shared mons are Alakazam and Exeggutor, which were in his RGB sets to begin with. He does switch out some of his RGB party on occasion and his party isn't as fixed as Red's- but instead of any aforementioned yellow mons, he uses Machamp, Aerodactyl, Tyranitar, or Heracross.

It's often pointed out that Yellow is the only game where you can get all the starters without trading, but like... Red can trade. You can trade with other players as well as NPCs in game. Wven NPCs trade offscreen, as evidenced for instance by Green having two trade evolution pokémon on his roster. If anything, it's even more feasible Red could've traded offscreen for his extra starters in Kanto than elsewhere, since unlike future games the starter lines are littered in trainer battles all over the region. He could easily have even traded Green for his starter, which would explain why Green never battles with one in appearances set after RGB, barring Pokémas and LGPE which aren't mainline canonical anyway. (If you disagree with this point you can meet me in the pit [joke])

All of Red's canonical appearances past FRLG are based off/grow from his FRLG incarnation. There was no remake of yellow alongside these, ergo post-remake Red has to be from FRLG.

Finally, the most damning bit to me is... Yellow isn't an original game. Yellow is a recursive adaptation of the anime released a couple years after RGB. Nearly everything that's different about Yellow vs RGB is done so to reflect the anime. The locations the starters are received is approximately where and how Ash recieved them. The Yellow player is implicitly Ash From The Anime; if not exactly, then at very least a mixture of Ash back into Red. Given the lengths gone in the years since to diverge Ash and Red as separate characters, Yellow being the canonical version NPC-Red is from would just be really weird.

Such it is that every time someone states "actually yellow is the canon game" as fact I despair a little internally. Truly what a burden i bear.
